I went to the Haunted Hayride last weekend for the 9pm slot and did not get in the hayride till MIDNIGHT. I got there with my sisters around 8:30pm so we waited for 3 and a half hours on the line...It was awful. These people sell VIP tickets and I promise that there was a couple that got on the VIP line at the same we got on the regular one. So, do they get on the first hayride? NOPE. I saw the same couple two hours later still on line. I feel like they stole our money. Many people just couldnt wait anymore and around 11pm a lot of people just went home. When I finally did get in the hayride it was just okay. They apparently cut the hayride short as well (our ride was ~20min instead of the 30min ride I was promised) because it got so late and I dont think it was worth $35 at all to be honest.
I am not sure why soo many people are complaining about the ride, BUT my friends and I had a great time. We got on the latest time which is 10pm. Yes we did have to sit uncomfortable for a while, but we made new friends because of that. Everyone help out when ever someone needed to stretch their feet.Great actors and great dancing. WAS WORTH THE $35.Also the shuttle may not come when you need it to, but it does come. If you cannot wait just take the M35.
Currently waiting in line for this. I have been in this line for three hours. THREE! And not even close to the front. The generators went out about ten minutes ago, which is kind of a blessing because I was sick of hearing the same creepy song blasted at me. By the time we get to the actual ride, Im sure they are going to rush us through and it make it completely NOT worthwhile. If you really want to come, buy the earliest showing and still get here two hours early. I have never been this frustrated, annoyed and uncomfortable in my life while waiting for something I paid to go to.
Disappointing is not the word - we basically got robbed for our money by waiting 3 hours on the line, not only that, all my friends got cramps while on the hayride. Wasnt even scary at all. They need to stay in L.A. Its not worth the time and money. The people that are rating this place 5 stars are the people that work there. Dont buy into it!!
Really disappointing!! I Expected much better!!, its hard to be any bit frightened sitting on the back of a trailer and looking at cars driving up and down the FDR, or guys playing a soccer match in a field next door!!I went to the Headless Horseman Hayride in Ulster Park a couple years back and that was outstanding and I gave it 5 stars. There is no comparison,This would be something you could bring your kids to, they wont be scared!!
So Google reviews has a fantastic sense of humor by asking me what did I love about this terrible excuse of a haunted hay ride.Let me set the scene for you. A group of 6 rambunctious friends decide to get together at Randalls Island for some scary fun and excitement. Little did we know that there was something much scarier looming. We arrive to Randalls Island and follow the signs that lead to the hay ride. We see what looks like a makeshift parking lot filled with cars. We decide that this must be the right way; so we park the car and follow the crowds of people heading towards the light. We arrive in a seemingly open field filled with people who look as lost as us. Theres a creepy ghoul walking around doing a pretty fantastic job of making every single person they get within arm distance of, very uncomfortable. Our group decides to find some restrooms or port a potties. We find them off to the side. These things probably havent been taken care of in the last week. With some poor excuse of a hand washing station that had no sanitary soaps or alcohol or anything to remotely clean your hands. Our group, now disgusted by the restroom facilities, approach a line which seems to be for the tickets. We see that there are 3 lines. Two for cash and one for credit. Now, you may sit there and think that this is normal. But this right here is a prime example of this companys ability to gouge you for money every chance they get. You can only use credit at one window and it just so happens to be the main method of paying by most people. Theres two ATMs conveniently located off to the side of the window. The ATM charges a $4.50 fee if you decide to use it.We finally arrive to a window and we are given two choices for tickets. $35 for general admission or $50 for VIP access. We opt in for general admission and are told that we can always come back and upgrade if we feel the line is too long. This should of been a red flag that we should have heeded. But we didnt. We arrive at the line queue for general admission and notice that there are probably anywhere between six hundred and a thousand people waiting on line. We decide to stick it out.We waited in the blistering cold from 8:20 until 11:30 while they blasted horrible Halloween themed music that cycled between -maybe- 3 songs. At 11:30, the power went out and the music stopped. The entire crowd became RESTLESS. The security guards and the workers at this place ASSURED us that this was temporary because there was a power outage. After waiting another 45 minutes we finally get to the hay ride, by the way the power is still out when we get on the tractor. We get through the dismal display of the hay ride which consisted of actors banging on our tractor and getting really close to you in a feeble attempt to scare you. This hay ride was more of a theatrical display than it was an attempt to scare you. After we finally get out of the ride , the line is still long, its 1am and guess what? The power is still out.0 stars. Would not recommend. I wish that I could give a zero star review but one star will have to suffice. Please save your money and ask your friends to push you around in a wheelbarrow as they hit it with sticks and call it scaring you.
While the line was long and the audience waiting did get a bit impatient, the staff handled those lines well and worked as quickly as they could to get everyone on the hayride. I thought the show was a lot of fun and my girlfriend and i will be going back next year for sure.
Not worth the hours in line or the money. This hayride was an amateur production!! It was boring the tractor jackknifed. And most disappointing of all was the way we were treated by the joke of a C.O.O. Of the company. This production should have stayed in California.
The day I went last year there was a pretty bad wind storm n they had canceled it last min.. Was totally upset cause I wasted precious gas driving there ...but they honored everyones ticket for the next day of the hayride... N let me tell u was worth it, good scary fun especially the burned children and the devil nuns so creepy !!!💀💀 😀💀👻 cant wait 4 this years !!

2015-10-11Its obvious that the 5 star reviews are fake. We came on a Saturday, probably a poor decision, arrived at 8pm, waited in line until 10:00pm (thats right, 2 hours, thats what general admission tickets get you). By the time we got on the ride, all the excitement was gone. I didnt find this scary at all, more entertaining than anything. The performers did a good job with their dancing, etc. it just wasnt that scary to me. The staff were all courteous and professional in my opinion. However, this was not worth waiting in line for two hours in the cold. If you have $50 burning a hole in your pocket, then splurge on the VIP, you wont have to wait for 2 hours. But then, I dont think its worth $50. If you do decide to go, dont sit in the middle of the hay cart thing, the actors dont really interact with the people in the middle because its too far away. Also the hay cart thing is really uncomfortable, you slide down into the hay, you end up crammed into other people, its not really a pleasant ride. The whole thing seemed kind of poorly organized, maybe because its the first year here, but you think it would have run a lot more smoothly considering how many years theyve been putting this on in LA.

2016-10-31Went on Saturday, 10/29/16.Pros:- Gates opened at 7pm and we got there around 6:40pm. It was perfect timing. Im not sure what time previous reviewers arrived, but the line moved pretty quick IMO, but maybe they were just better organized this year. They had multiple hayrides going at once and each cart held about 30 people or so.- I thought the hayride itself was fun. I personally only jumped twice (no screaming), but it was hysterical watching the people around me. The costumes were great and each section focused on a different horror story. They had a lot of sections and I thought the ride was a decent length.Cons: I want to give the ride more stars, but there were some cons to the experience.- Absolutely no signs upon arrival. We got off the bus by Icahn Stadium and there was zero directions. We had to ask parking lot security where to go. Same thing with leaving. Theres construction all over and we were walking in the street under the highway near all the equipment. And then we still had to ask a guard for directions. Seemed pretty dangerous to me.- Im sure this is also related to the lack of directions, but a group of random people strolled onto the hayride route during our ride. One of the actors had to step away and ward them off. Why that walkway wasnt blocked off, I dont know, but that should not have happened.- I didnt enjoy the maze. I was with a group of 10 people and we all went in together. That was ill advised and security should have warned us. It was WAY too dark and cramped which resulted in people getting stepped on. I could barely see the person standing next to me. There were dimly lit strobes in the beginning and then they completely gave up on them halfway through. It was also extremely muddy. Yuck!- I think it was a little pricey. $27-$30 per ticket seems more realistic.

2015-11-19Don’t let the horrific cue for the ride deter you. The music while waiting can drive you mad on an endless loop during the hour plus wait. One has never been so happy to get into the metal cage knowing only minutes away from getting on to the ride.It was a nice chilly fall night before Halloween when we went. Everyone was in a good, fun mood. Our cart wasn’t as full as others so we had plenty of room to sit in the hay. After all it is a hayride. The set was impressive and the actors were all looking like they were having a lot of fun scaring the riders. My friend had a blast and the ride was long enough to make you forget the long wait. In the end we had a good time and we’ll do it again next year.

2015-10-12As Im right this review Im actually driving home from the hayride , so here are my first hand and honest opinions. At first arrival, the place had a nice setup. It had a semi ok queue line, food, and actors walking around (which made fairly entertaining). On a Sunday night we got there at 7:15 and we waited about 10 minutes. When you are getting to the front of the line, they pack guests into an enclosed chain link fence, and then the even more worse part came. We got into the hayride, but they absolutely overpack the truck bed by a ridiculous amount. In fact, the whole hayride was extremely uncomfortable and made it much less enjoyable, and everyone on the ride agreed. We began moving and they brought us through numerous rooms such as a circus tent, which was most guests favorite. Towards the end of the ride, there was a part that actually made me feel very claustrophobic. The ride lasted about 25-30 minutes. One small complaint I must say is that there is a large amount of time between each room (and by room I mean the places where the actors perform). At each scene though, I must admit that the actors were fairly entertaining.Overall would I recommend it, no not really. But was it fun for the time we were there, yea somewhat. But again, I dont know if I could recommend it. The biggest reason is how tightly packed the truck bed was with people, it just made it so enjoyable. If you want to come see a fairly entertaining show on a hayride jam packed with people so tight hat you can even move, then this is for you.

2015-10-18Just went this past Saturday for the 9pm hayride (bought $35 tickets in advance) and entered to find a pretty sad empanada stand, a scary clown creature roaming around and extremely loud music blaring. We entered and waited in the freezing cold for a while which was not fun. We finally got on to the very uncomfortable flatbed and had to endure the whole ride crammed in like sardines. The whole hayride itself was not scary at all but I do give credit to the actors and costume designers. They looked great and did a good job. Also, I think the location did not lend itself for this type of event. You can see and hear the cars as they pass on the highway and there is too much light which doesnt help. The hayride also lacked some sort of narrator on a mic telling us the story or acting as a sort of guide like they do at the Headless Horseman Hayride in upstate NY.All in all, it was a lackluster 30 minutes. I would not go back or recommend this hayride to anyone. I would say to make the trip upstate to headless horseman instead. WAY better and worth every penny!

2016-12-16Went as a group staff outing last year. I personally enjoyed it and while not legit frightened I liked the interaction when the actors were able to get close. Clown thing at the entrance was very creepy. Some of the setups could have been cooler. Overall something fun to do as a group. Only issue was getting public transportation as buses were rare.

2015-10-20If youre looking for a piss your pants entertainment, go elsewhere. It was not scary at all. I was reluctant to go because I hate scary things but my friends made me. My friends and I arrived at ten and got our tickets fairly quickly. However, in the next 2.5 hours we waited in line, I must have gained some courage because I actually laughed at the actors who were supposed to be scary. The tickets were way too expensive for what you get and I bet the people who paid $50 were pissed they paid that much just to skip the line. The show itself had some great effects, music and actors but as a whole, it didnt work being in a wagon of thirty people. Youre kinda over it after ten minutes. If you still want to go, my advice is to wear warm clothing, pee before getting in line and bring something to do while you wait, a lawn chair wouldnt hurt either.

2016-09-26I came here last year and the wait was ridiculously long! We were on line for more than 2 hours! By the time we got on the hay ride, the actors were tired and not really into their character. The themes were cool but I was so tired from waiting that I really didnt enjoy this haunted entertainment.

2015-10-26We arrived a little before our 10pm ticket slot to then wait in line until 1:00am before finally getting on the hayride. The ride itself has you sitting inside of the wagon on the floor, which is uncomfortable and crowded (and leaves you covered in hay by the end of it) All of the anticipation and excitement was gone by the time we actually made it on to the hayride but the real disappointment was how un-scary the ride actually was. The special effects and makeup were great, but the overall ride was boring and somewhat childish. It would have been much better as a walk through, as Randalls Island is scary on its own. I definitely wouldnt recommend this, as there are SO many other Halloween hayrides and haunted houses in the New York and surrounding areas that would be worth the time and money.

2015-10-25I dont know where to begin. I read the reviews first. I thought it was just people who werent scared but I didnt want to be terrified so I still came. It was a mistake. To put things in perspective, our time slot was 8pm. It is currently 10:22pm and I am still in line. Maybe 2/3rds in. You will be in this line for hours with a bunch of hay and they will play the same 4 songs on repeat at full blast volume and you will regret every dollar you spent to come here. You will feel obligated to stay because you spent $35 and have already wasted so much time.Truly the scariest part of this whole thing is standing in this line contemplating all your life choices. I havent even been on the ride yet but I couldnt imagine being scared after waiting in this line where every moment is spent waiting for the sweet release of death.UPDATE: I am now back at home. The line lasted 3.5 hours. The actual ride lasts about 20-30 minutes. Theres a few decently scary parts but most of it is pretty predictable. I love horror movies but have always hated haunted houses so Im partially glad it wasnt that scary, but if you want scary, skip it. Actually just skip it in general. Its not going to be worth it.
