Waste of time for Comp Sci majors. I am the student who gave NYIT the idea of starting a start up program. It all started with attending the NCIIA Open conference. I learned more in the 3 days I was at the conference than I did the 2 years I spent at NYIT.Along with the proposal for the start up program, I mentioned the horrible experience with faculty members. I was hoping some kind of response from them but got nothing. Not a thank you or an apology. It is highly possible that they got bitter for mentioning that I would never donate to the school due to their horrible faculty members.I paid money and took out loans to listen to a professor talk about his abduction and conspiracy about the KGB and a well known defense contractor company wanting to kill him. As his memory came back or gotten crazier, his stories became the main class lecture. They even hire professors who cant barely speak English and all the assignments are history reports on various programming languages.During my time there, I had only two professor who taught something that I would consider graduate level.
First let me start off by saying this private school is not worth it. The administrative offices are uncoordinated, unhelpful and rude. The advisors have no clue what they are doing and often steer you in the wrong direction if your not in a specified major. Financial aid is pretty useless considering the price of this worthless school. They often try to persuade you to take out loans or anything possible to make your financial aid packet another financial deal for them. This was the school I wrongfully chose thinking I was paying for quality, but it wasnt the case and I regret my decision after being sufficated in student loans. PLEASE IF YOU ARE AN UPCOMING COLLEGE FRESHMAN DO NOT MAKE NYIT YOUR CHOICE.
It really depends on which course you take and which professor you meet. Some of them are strict on classes and tests but they still give you a reasonable grade depends on how good you are. While some just finishing jobs and pretty easy to pass. Overall you should teach yourself a little bit more than you expected if you are going to this college.
Never ever choose this center for TOEFL exam. In a small room, they seat like 20 people. When you work on your exam, your elbow even touches the person beside you. I dont have to tell you about the noise when 20 people work on different parts of the exam. I wonder how ETS allows hosting exam in such a noisy environment.
New York Institute of Technology is a very diverse and wonderful institute. They house majors that connect deep into the root of technology and make the learning experience worth while at the stage of graduation. Being involved on campus gives the students an opportunity to meet new people and better themselves along the way.
I have had nothing other than positive experiences all around, from the bursars office where I felt as if I were made an exclusive priority, to the very informative orientation and great professors who actually care about you. Go here, especially if youre planning on engineering.
First of all if I can put a ( 0 Zero ) star for this school it will not be enough to describe haw it is very bad . However, in the begging of an applying in NYIT they will treated you very nicely and helpful, so you will complete registering in this school. But !!!!!!! the moment you enter the school say bye to your self .Secondly,if youre applying for English class as a second language I can say youre killing your self plus your money ,time and health . Moreover, about the teachers of the English department are the worse teachers I have ever seen in my hall life . The treated you like you are an enamel plus you can feel that they what your money, its a business school more than learning. In conclusion,I can say bye for all how r in this business school and I swear that I am not overdoing . And three is more but if a i what to writ 100000000 review it will not be enough.
I totally agree with Hanumantha rao who wrote the review below....NYIT is the worst university I had ever seen in the United States. Totally unethical and money sucker. They will cash the international students by blocking them with their Visa sevis status and extract the money what ever they want.. The most worst part is faculty..I am not sure from where they graduated and how they got recruited by NYIT and I wont recommend NYIT to anyone..not even for degree also because you can get a degree for cheaper with good hospitality in other universities...It seriously doesnt worth to spend all of your family and your savings in to their bursar office to get that piece of paper.Youtube will explain your course work better than the NYIT. Actually far better than NYIT.Totally unethical and materialistic.....parents also must have to care of school for kids before choosing...out of 100% 99% students from NYIT will explain their pain o and experience. Bursar is very strong for NYIT they are mathematicians they show you the bill on your head more than a bank federal bank loans.
As an alumni, I can truly say that NYIT is the biggest mistake of my life (so far). The institution is a business and they are not afraid to show their capitalistic ways on campus. They will try in every way to get the most out of their students and return the least. It is nearly impossible to find a student that support the school. Most do not speak up nor do they transfer out due to the consequences of jeopardizing their grades and credits. The statistics by the college board and NYIT are flawed. Simply for advertising. Most students either transfer before completion of their first year or do not graduate on time. Educational and career support is slim to none even though NYIT advertises them.

2017-12-05I studied MBA from this college. All the prof. are really good. Course curriculum is also well designed. I would really want if they add more practical based courses where u do some real finance related stuff instead of just a book assignment. Location of the college is amazing. Still miss the college days and great NYC.

2016-12-01Excellent program in communication arts. If you are definitely serious and passionate about what you and want to enter this program, this is definitely right for you. This program offers a lot of opportunities. This is for students who want to do real serious hard work in college. The professors are outstanding here and can really guide you well. The students are very nice and come from all different backgrounds. I feel very accepted here and fit right in with the other students in the communication arts department.

2013-03-14I am a freshman at this college, and I am having a great time. The people I meet are amazing and my teachers are even better. I love almost every single one of them. They are well educated about what they are teaching and are very passionate about their careers, which I love! Love learning new things everyday, and its nice living in the city as well!

2016-02-21I graduated in 1985 in engineering. At the time the school was highly rated and it provided me with a great education that launched my career in the electrical power industry. Education will only take you so far. It opens doors then its up to you to prove yourself. I have no idea of the value today at NYIT but would venture to say it has changed as society has. Do your research and search out the best school you can afford. Accept nothing less than what you pay for. Work hard. Challenge the teachers to do more if they are not. Best of luck to everyone and God Bless.

2016-02-25First I would like to say dealing with their administration is the worst they are the most rude and disrespectful and not to include inpatient people Ive come across. I transferred into this school hoping for a good match but it has been nothing but pure hell. From the Professors to the administrative personal it has been one thing after the next if it isnt them doing their job properly resulting in negative consequences on my part as in effecting my GPA with their mistakes. Inputting grades wrong in their system, and when reported to their higher ups on there repeatedly incompetence on doing their job nothing is done. This is the worst experience I have ever encountered in attending a school. The professor do not care about their students and some of them dont even speak proper english and when asked to have a better explanation in their class they get iretated as if youre not as well trying to learn and complete their class with a good grade. There is a lot of favoritism so if you do decide to go to this school learn to suck up to your teachers if you would like a good grade. There a whole lot more I can say but for what not like this review would even make a difference. Hopefully it reaches out to one student out there wondering what its like in this school.....

2017-10-11I find this school ok-ish but I have had a horrible experience at the Bursar s department. There is this African - American lady (her initials are VM) who sits there just to harass students for apparently no reason and the attitude she throws to students is as if she is paying for their tuition. She is straight out racist and discriminates people based on their looks and their nationality. The teachers are really nice and they care for students. I got a lot of help from my adviser just to teach her a lesson. She has a foul mouth and I really wish she gets fired just so that other students do not suffer from her behavior.

2016-10-12If you want a school with no technology. Come here. If you want to come to a school that stresses you out finiancially. Come here. Finiancial aid office is NOT HELPFUL!!! Ive been going to them for weeks now to handle a loan situation. It is mid October and it STILL isnt handled. If I wasnt persistent at checking my student account everyday. I couldve been dismissed out of school or just thinking everything was handled when it actually isnt. You pay a lot of money yet you dont see the benefits of it. The only good thing is having SOME great knowledgeable professors. Other than that, do not waste your time coming here. Its a buisness! And the student suffer!!!
