Positive: I visit New York a lot and this is, by far, the best hotel I¿ve ever stayed at. The location is perfect if you¿re seeing any Broadway shows while in the city and the hotel is amazingly quiet considering the Times Square location. Negative: The only downside for me is price. I lucked out and got an incredible deal because of the pandemic, but this hotel would be out of my price range at any other time. Sad because I loved it enough that this would be my hotel of choice for all future visits.
Rooms were okay, service wasnt great. Location is amazing right in the heart of Times Square and Broadway. We were on the 37th floor and heard little to no street noise. Not sure Id stay here again, but if the price was right probably would. Checkout was easy. Restaurant was ridiculously expensive. Elevators were supper cool and had a great view too.
Unbelievably rude front desk staff. In 4 persons we only had one polite. 5 stars welcoming 🤔Thank god for the security guys who are still friendly to strangers!Lots of noise because of the location. Get good earplugs.Rooms are modern, grey, cold (couldnt switch off the AC)Breakfast has vegan options 🌿
If youre looking for a centrally located property, this is it. The rooms are updated and are very spacious. As a Titanium Elite, perks were limited. We did get access to the M Lounge but a room upgrade was not available. The M Lounge has a breakfast buffet and evening appetizers. It is a busy hotel but it is a beautiful property and very quiet for its location. We did take take advantage of being on-site Broadway and watched Beetlejuice. Highly recommend.
For some reason the bag check service people were very mean. One man intentionally dropped my friends bag and acted very unfriendly. The experience was short but so bad I decided not to give him a tip after this. Very disappointed. The hotel also doesn’t accept Apple Pay, you can’t pay online, and you can’t manually enter a card. So just buying the room was difficult (forgot card). Only good thing was Fred at the front desk was helpful and the location is great. This is a decently expensive hotel. The rooms are adequate but not incredible. I would consider other options before booking this hotel and also consider there is many hidden fees.
Not worth the price! I was given a corner room and still really underwhelmed. The walls are extremely thin and could hear word for word a conversation someone had on his phone and could even hear the person other end of the line! Could hear the noise outside. There are no bath robes or slippers in the room. No kettle to make tea. Room service is closed 11am-4pm. If you want water you have to order it between 11am-4pm too!! When room service is delivered the food is already cold. The beds are the only advantage - they were very comfortable.
Stayed for a quick one night with family and 2 kids. Best location, spacious room, clean, honored all my requests: early check-in, late checkout, access to the car. The chat on the app is a great feature. This is the hotel to stay in if you want to enjoy Times Square.
Positive: We were very pleased with our stay at the Marriott Marquis. Perfect location. Beautiful hotel. Rooms recently renovated with mini-fridge, large flat panel television, floor to ceiling windows providing a great view. Negative: Hotel restaurant hours are limited. If you have a 7pm curtain time and want to have a late dinner, do not plan on dining at the restaurants at the Marriott Marquis. Check local area restaurants for hours before making plans.
Beautiful hotel at the heart of Times Square. Central location is convenient to everything. Beautifully well-appointed, large, comfortable, quiet modern rooms. Upscale shampoo, conditioner and bath gels provided Lots of excellent dining and drink options. Fantastic service from housekeeping, concierge and all staff. There is a really cool futuristic circular bank of many glass-walled elevators. You choose your floor before you get in. It tells you which door to go to and it is usually open and waiting to take you to your floor. No floor buttons to push in the elevator. Highly recommend this hotel.
Not my first time staying at the Marquis when visiting NY. Maybe its covid but no excuse they definitely were not 100% with their customer service. Staff wasnt friendly as times we stayed there but the rooms were clean but definitely nothing to write home about and especially with a bill for over $600 a night they should provide more professional and courteous service.
Always stay here when Im in the city because its centrally located . Right in Times Square, not far from central park , and the subway/train station . Rooms always look great , for such a busy hotel , the service is outstanding. If there is any problems with your room cleanliness wise , you can easily find a housekeeper to help .Beds are comfortable , and the restaurant at the top is great , but a tad expensive.
Probably one of the worst hotels Ive been to in terms of being family friendly and catered to guests. The number of suits and business people outnumber hotel guests 60-1 or even higher. All this hotel does is host business conferences and primarily caters to people in companies and firms. (Just take a look at the pics attached) Yes it has 48 floors and nice rooms but I would avoid.
Beautiful hotel, great service. Rooms are clean and spacious. Elevators are unique and an experience. Located in busy crime ridden time square so. It my favorite city location by a long shot but was very conveniently located to the Javitz center and police presence was strong in the area.
I stayed here for a conference. The event was great and the hotel staff were attentive. Room service was speedy and reasonably priced.I did have some issues though. A flip flop was left on the ground under the desk in my room from a previous stay, and I had to pick it up and throw it away. A charge was made unclear on my bill as well.
Amazing view, unfortunately the room was poorly cleaned for $600 a night. Food left in fridge from the night prior , I was very nice when reporting issues and have been loyal to Marriott, but I think I am going to stay elsewhere next time. The period stains I noticed after we pulled the sheets down a bit the 2nd night is what really made us realize how poorly cleaned the room really was.
We received the upgraded room I had requested as a Platinum member which was a spacious, newly remodeled high floor room directly overlooking Times Square and the famous ball that drops on NYEve. Our Grandchildren were beyond belief that they could see all of Times Square and that famous ball, which they had only seen on TV. We had a hard time getting the kids out of the room to go explore the town! The room had 2 double beds plus a lounge couch that became a very nice single bed at night for our 15 y.o. Grandson to sleep on. Bathroom was very nicely equipped with towels and full sized toiletries in the shower, no more trying to squeeze shampoo out of a tiny bottle! Yea! There was no daily housekeeping services related to Covid, but our request for additional towels to keep up with the grandkids showering was honored quickly upon our arrival. The bank of fancy elevators tell you which elevator to use, based on what floor you are on, to expedite reaching our 39th floor room. Security at the door and all of the front desk staff also super helpful. Unfortunately, despite 4 of us in one room, the use of the complimentary M Club was restricted to 2 people, not the four in our family. This was strictly enforced by a firm, though very polite and nice man at the door. This was the only bummer of the stay, esp. since all I really wanted was a nice cup of coffee do a piece of fruit. Because of these restrictions, we also did not make use of the afternoon happy hour in the M Club. Overall, a fantastic hotel with lovely and accommodating staff in a superb location. I would, and have already, recommended it to my many friends and family.
Great location in the theater district. Walking distance to some amazing places to get slices, times Square, and a ton of shopping. Amazing view of Times Square from our hotel room on the 21st floor. Very clean rooms, decent bed, large rooms with space for activities! The food in the restaurants was very good, and the staff throughout the hotel was very friendly. Definitely will stay here again!
Hotel itself is really nice and very convenient if you ae going for any Broadway shows. Loved the vibe and front desk receptionist allowed us to check in early which was good. Only part that we did not like is that there was no coffee or complimentary water in the room. You would expect that from Four Star Hotels.
I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and I have never had any complaints. My most recent stay was nothing short of AMAZING from start to finish! First off, if management reads this, you need to give employee of the month awards to David (check-in/reception) and Luis (bellhop). These two guys made this trip better than any other time I have stayed. David was very helpful when we checked in and hooked us up with an amazing view! Luis is the nicest man you will ever meet! Do yourself a favor and say hi to him, you will immediately have a new friend in the Big Apple! 🍎 For all my coffee drinkers out there, Starbucks was currently closed for renovations on the ground floor BUT they do serve Starbucks in the gift shop on level 8. Starbucks is reopening on 6/15/22, but I was told they will continue serving Starbucks in the gift shop when the regular one reopens. You also get a $30 per day food credit. Use it or lose it per day, cannot be carried over to the next day. We used our credit at the Revel & Rye Bar & Restaurant. Food and service were both great. We got pizza ..7 small to medium slices and 2 drinks, came to around $34, so you can definitely get something there and not go over your credit by too much…but don’t get me wrong, you can definitely go over your credit as well. The credit can NOT be used at Starbucks or the gift shop. Our room was clean and very roomy. There is a coffee maker complimentary with tea and coffee and a refrigerator. The room we stayed in had 2 queens and an L shape lounging couch which was plenty big enough for my 13 year old nephew to sleep on comfortably. You can’t beat the location as you are in the heart of time square and within walking distance to all major attractions. And last thing I kinda love is the elevator situation. Most hotels you have to fight crowds to get to an open elevator and then get stuck in one like a sardine. At this hotel you enter the floor you are going to on the keypad and it tells you which elevator door to go to (example: L). So if someone else is going to floor 24 and you are going to floor 10, you probably won’t be in the same elevator. I was told high floors are on the left side and lower floors are on the right. Hope this review helps you make a decision on where you want to stay. I don’t think you will regret it.
Absolutely stellar performance by the team at Marriot. Perfect view no matter what room you could end up in, upscale lobby, fancy dining in the hotel, even a Starbucks in it! Also did I mention its smack dab in the middle of Times square? Its location made it very easy to do whatever you could possible think of! For starters, its in Times Square which is basically a giant shopping mall without the mall. And then, if you manage to get bored of Times Square, theres a lot to do within walking distance. Now for the rooms, arguably the most important part of the hotel. Sadly, its only what you would simply EXPECT from a hotel of this cost. Maybe even slightly less. Despite this the hotel gets 5 stars.
The hotel and service was nice but the issue is their house cleaning employees. We left the hotel room and we called ahead for a cleaning of the room. We had some very expensive belongings , so we packed all of those things in the BOTTOM of our suitcase UNDER our clothes with the bags zipper.. We just got back home and our Gucci shades are missing. If you plan on staying here please use the safe because clearly their housekeeping staff are thieves .
A very convenient hotel right next to Time Square. Friendly staffs and doorman. Large lobby and in-house restaurant. Nice gym. Multiple large conference rooms. Clean and spacious rooms. Laundry services available. Always fun to ride the open view elevators. Surrounded by shops and restaurants of different budget.
This is a nice clean hotel for people who may have asthma or allergies because it seems to be fairly clean and free of issues such as mold or any other problems that would cause difficulties for a person with medical conditions such as asthma or allergies. It is also centrally located amongst many excellent restaurants shops and activities.
Hotel was nice however service was poor. We stayed 4 nights and even after calling the service desk we never had housekeeping come to our room during our entire stay. The front desk handed us garbage bags and told us to empty our own trash and place it in the hallway. Also, for how expensive this hotel is, they do not offer any type of concierge service. We actually went to another hotel nearby to get a concierge to help us with food and travel recommendations.
First of all, I am job seeker thats why Im writing.1. I was trained in this job and my experience is always in this field. Why cant I apply for this job in America? I have worked enough in Turkey.2. So called a global world, but while you can do any job in our country, why cant we work in a job other than Turkish restaurants when we come to your country? Even though we know the job, why cant we get a job in our field of expertise?3. If you think I cant do it, give it a chance and see. Otherwise, you will never reach global talents. If what you have is enough for you, go ahead. I am comfortable in my own country. And I do not think that I will disturb myself for unqualified jobs that are not my area of expertise. The more steps you come to me, the more I will come to you.
Found Bed bugs in one room they moved us to another room after an hour. In a friends room she found bodily fluids in the sheets. They tried to make the bed bug situation better by giving us chips and soda. Staff was nice but took a while to get up to our floor to check the room and move us. After the situations we felt uncomfortable to to sleep in the sheets.
For those committed to staying in the heart of Times Square, this hotel is an oasis of calm in this famously overstimulating neighborhood - even if it is not much of an oasis from the exploitative prices in this exorbitant corner of this expensive city. But for most New Yorkers who go out of their way to avoid the crowds and traffic of Times Square even when going to nearby theaters, this fortress of a hotel seperated from its surrounding tourist ghetto by perplexing elevators and a security checkpoint is so removed from the real New York that we wonder whether its guests should have saved themselves the travel and had as authentic a New York Experience in the comfort of their home ripping up cash and watching the New Years Eve ball drop on television.
Stayed there for 4 days for a conference, heres my pros and cons.PROS:- Location, location, location. You step out of the hotel and youre on Times Square. Absolutely fantastic.- Overall very clean and pleasantCONS:- 4 star hotel and they can only afford single-ply toilet paper and abrasive towels?....- No food included, which I get it, its a 4 star hotel at times square, rich people come over. But Im there for a conference, I aint rich, some bagels or something wouldve been nice.- No Free Wifi, again, rich peeps can pay for it, but not me.- Room service only upon request. Which I get it, covid. But thats also been used as an excuse for many hotels to fire half of their cleaning staff, so take that as you will.Overall a good experience, but I did not feel as spoiled as I thought Id feel in a 4-star hotel. Was left disappointed. But then again, can I blame them for not living up to my expectations?Next time Ill choose to stay somewhere else close by and walk there for the meetings and sessions of the conference, but thats for my particular situation.
Stayed 4 nights and only had housekeeping once. Even then, I had to request it several times before it was cleaned. I was told by a housekeeper that they are only cleaning rooms for room change overs. Soap dispenser was empty and never refilled. Service was slow or non existent. Overcharged for room service. This is anything but a four star hotel. I’ve stayed at this Marriott several times in the past with minimal issues. It’s unfortunate they are under staffed and are trying to cut corners any way they can. Of course, the room rates are just has high as ever.
The Marriott Marquis in NYC was some of the friendliest, most accommodating, people at a New York hotel. Check in was a breeze, room service was speedy, the property was incredibly clean, and everyone went out of their way to make sure our stay was memorable. Location was second to none for seeing broadway shows. Will definitely be returning.
This hotel was fabulous from beginning to end! The location couldnt be better in the heart of Times Square, and on Broadway! Both shows that we saw was literally across the street! Nadia at check in was fabulous, gave the lay of the land perfectly! Luis, a member of the bell staff, went above and beyond, he assisted me at both arrival and departure, and remembered me. Ephiny(sp) bartender in the M Club was great! It was quiet at night, I felt safe and was impressed with the overall service from all departments. The destination fee is offset by the food & beverage credit, as well as the attraction tickets. Ive already booked my next stay!
Listen, the rooms, location, and design of the hotel is great. But the only reason I took to 2 stars is because I personally didn’t feel as if I was in a hotel. When I stay in hotels I like to have the experience that I am in such a place, but with the Marquis there wasn’t any nice lobby or common areas but rather felt like an apartment building.
Terrible customer service! My room has not been cleaned in 2 days and I was turned down when asking for a late checkout by an extremely rude manager. Im a Bonvoy member and this is the worst I have ever been treated EVER. On top of that, our company paid for over 2,000 people stay there... youd think they show a little gratitude for the generous tips we left.
Unfortunetly as a marriot ambassador member i cannot recommend this hotel. While the location is good and the room have a very decent size for NY, the service quality is below par and you will find that the whole hotel feels more like q public space (way to many non-guests). My status was also not honoured and the m-club is not worth the time (and they are just cocky about). Had a much nicer stay at the edition hotel on times square. They make you feel like home. This hotel is just big and crowded. Thats it.
Housekeeping robbed us and management did nothing about it.Reception told us there was no room service unless specially requested due to COVID (April 2022). Housekeeping came in anyway and stole from us. Security took statements from us (report #767210) and promised to investigate and to get back to us in a week. They waited several weeks, hoping wed forget about it. When I wrote to them again, they told us they werent legally required to do anything about it, so they werent going to do anything. Thanks, guys, super great service.
The worst Marriot ever. I have stayed there for a week and I have never been so disappointed. Only one time room service and fresh towels within the week and only because I complained. Laundry was never picked up even after two calls. Internet speed was the lowest I have ever experienced since 14.4 k modems and they couldnt even leave a bottle of water in the room for new guests. Shop was closed at 8pm and the vending machines are hard to find. Nobody cared at all. If you cant manage the capacity, simply dont sell the rooms. For 400 USD a night and a very simple room my expectations are much higher. The Hyatt next door is brand new with 25% lower rates and an amazing Bar.
So, as far as location and looks go, the hotel is good. The whole place literally looked like something out of Star Wars, it was very nice. Its right in the centre of Times Square, with so many restaurants and Broadway theatres within walking distance. Theres also a theatre inside the hotel, where theyre currently hosting Beetlejuice the Musical, and they have conference rooms, ballrooms, a gift store, and restaurants. The hotel staff were all very friendly and provided great service. The elevators are also very unique; anyone cam access the elevator from floors 1-8, and if you tap your card the elevator knows what floor youre on and take you there immediately. To save time, there are lots of elevators, all alphabetized, and none of the buttons are in the elevator, this has to be done before you get on. Also, you have access to a computer which is already set up to help print your boarding passes (which was great because I wasnt able to use my laptop). The reason Im giving this review a 3 star has to do with some other things. When checking in, we were told that we get a limit of $30/day on food and drinks in the hotel (anything over you pay the difference) and we just have to charge it to the room. When checking out, we got the bill back and saw that wed been charged the 2 food purchases, both under $30, that we made at the cafe in the gift store. We are waiting on the credit card bill to see if wed actually been charged or if this is something just shown when checking out. One thing to note was that the hotel has a room/delivery service called Bites. They are very expensive and even if you ordered the cheapest thing on the menu, they still charge $9 for delivery to YOUR ROOM. Also, the wifi is only free to members of Marriott Bonvoy, and everyone else is charged per day. The charge change depending on the day, (the first day they wanted $20, and when I checked back on the 2nd day, they wanted $17). Having no idea the rate would change and not wanting to pay so much for several devices, my mom had payed the $20 for 2-3 days ($40-$60) just on her phone. I was spending my time in NYC with no data or access to wifi until I got to the airport on my way home. Also, the coffee in the gift store was gross, as well as their sandwiches. The staff were nice and the pastries they had were good, but the coffee and sandwiches I would not order again.Overall, the hotel was nice, had nice people working there, and great location, but I would not stay there again based on the things listed above.
Terrible experience. Not the welcoming we expected or received from other hotels in the Times Square area. They have zero regard for military veterans and after asking for a manager, Clair showed no appreciation or made the situation any better. She failed to greet us, never once smiled and never said goodbye while she departed the conversation. She whispered behind the counter to the attendee after making her claim and was not apologetic at all. So many other choices to select from. I would recommend staying elsewhere if you want to be respected as someone who served this country.
First off.. the hotels lobby and entrance feels like you are stepping into a train station… no doormen, a few bell captains who have an angry demeanor, and a really strange elevator into the hotel. Staff are unwelcoming, food is terrible (particularly room service), use Covid as an excuse not to service rooms, rooms look nothing like their website .. etc etcHonestly it’s more like a 3 star hotel. Save yourself money and stay at the Westin. Had to stay here for a convention.. never again.
I only had to move my room once this time-due to the loud rapping music and singing going on next door. The walls are extremely thin here. Last night 5 kids were playing baseball in the hallway and were loud. Some other examples:In September we went, we were given our room and key; opened up the door only to find it wasnt even clean-went back down, they upgraded our room to a corner quiet room. We dropped everything off and unpacked and went out. When we returned the room was cold-called the front desk they had to call maintenance only to be told the HVAC system was broken. In October the entire building lost power and we were stuck on the elevator on our way down to breakfast. The power came back on in the building, but the elevators were delayed a bit longer-they extended brunch-whoopie!In November we checked in and the first thing we always do is check the bed and sheets only to find bugs-took pictures and called the front desk-the woman screamed and a very nervous Manager came up and moved us.Whoever invented the crazy ridiculous elevator system should be fired. It was so funny people not knowing what to do, in the elevator bringing brunch up to the room only to find out it wasnt going to their floor. The numbers displayed inside for the floors were not only accurate. Last, the annoying woman who is in charge of the Marriott Club who tries to convince you to sign up is annoying as heck. We left early this morning before the craziness of checkout time (11am) which you have to see to believe. There are lines everywhere, to check baggage, have breakfast even the line for Starbucks was absurd. This use to be a great place 20 years ago but its not anymore. You can keep my points as Im always told I cant use them when we stay there and have no idea why.
I am a platinum elite member and have mistakenly booked the wrong rate which was around 300 dollars. After taking down 8 bags and my kids the manager Max rejected my rate and refused to offer me a comparable rate. So I immediately booked Westin Time square and Max did not care or show any sympathy that I have to get my car out of parking put the bags back and go to another hotel.I am sorry but this was a great show of how difficult and disconcerted their management is.I asked to speak to a director or the GM and he said I can talk to them after the weekend.
Don’t stay here.Too expensive for the quality of service. The water in the bathroom was brown. Housekeeping didn’t come even if we made a call and asked them directly.Really disappointed with their quality. Wonder why this hotel had four stars.p.s.- Shower curtain was stink- Room facility was old
While we only live in Westchester, we drive in to see Broadway shows quite often; normally in the Spring and Fall and we always have brunch here. We drove in yesterday to see a matinee only to be told the hotel was only for guests and we couldnt enter. This is a place we have gone to have a $70+ breakfast for over 30 years. Sad that they did this and dont know why. Good luck, youre going to need it!
Well where do I start! They only got 1 star because of location. On arrival, we did not know where to go as we could not find reception, the kind security guard assisted and advised it was on the 8th floor! No signs, or if there were, they were not visible!! Only until security helped us out and showed us how the lift operation works..... oh yeah the lift, good luck with that. Need to run round to find your lift and watch out that nobody else takes it before you! such a weird system! But the biggest disappointment is there is NO DAILY House cleaning! if you want a clean you have to request it. I was there for 5 nights and the place became a bit grubby, after 2 days. Room also became very dusty and bathroom had become quite unpleasant with 2 adults and 2 kids! the fact that COVID is still lurking around, this is poor!!!!The room was ok for NY, but booked a family room with 2 double beds. These were NOT double beds, they were large singles. I had to request extra bedding and turned the sofa into a bed for one of the kids to sleep. And boy those duvets have seen better days! as well as the plug sockets, these were slightly hanging out too. They also CHARGE resort Tax. Legally, this needs to be advertised on the airlines hotel description website and British Airways showed that it didnt. I called to make sure, but BA confirmed they didnt as by law they had to advise this. But of course, at checkout, they did!!! Which I totally refused to pay!Its a shame as location is spot on, but for the prices they charge and the fact that its a Marriot ... I expected WAY better.
Location is everything for this Marriott in Times Square. Easy access to Subway and all things NYC. The corner rooms are best. Noise from Times Square on the 19th was not bad at all. The only advice I have to share is be sure to use your 30$ daily fee on something from room service like the ice cream and cheese cake. Otherwise you lose 30$.
Would have left 5 stars if not for the people working the front desk. They didn’t have our rooms ready for our (twice confirmed) early check in, and they deactivated our room keys even though we had confirmed we had a late check out. Not that those issues were anything the staff had done intentionally, but we got some MAJOR attitude when we asked them to find a solution to both problems. The elevators are DAMN cool.Cleaning staff : 5/5 (Shoutout to Boba)Luggage check : 5/5 (Shoutout to Edmond)
Nice hotel marred by unfriendly and unhelpful front desk staff. After a stay of 6 nights, I requested for an extra couple of hours to check out as my flight was delayed. The answer was a rude NO. No explanation. No empathy. They’re clearly not fully booked on a Saturday either.I’ve stayed in many Marriott properties across the US which have consistently exceeded expectations - this property is a real shame to the brand. My teams won’t be staying here for future business visits to NYC.
This hotel provides a respite from the insanity of Times Square while being in the heart of it.My family and I came for a Christmas holiday stay and to visit family recently. Check in was smooth and the staff were extremely welcoming. The rooms are clean and had a nice view, although next time, Ill see if we can get an eastern facing view. Although we didnt request housekeeping, we did see our housekeeper and she made sure we had fresh towels and replenished our coffee pods.Guest services and the bellhops were all awesome and took care of our things when we checked out but were stuck for a few more hours due to flight cancellations. They also recovered some items that I left in the room and are holding for me to get sent back to me. They could have said they didnt find it, but they took the time to look, find the missing items and are holding them for me.I didnt get to use the nice gym, but they do have three Peloton bikes for the spinning enthusiasts out there. Otherwise, they have plenty of treadmills, weight machines, and other cardio equipment.Definitely will stay here again next time I visit.
You can’t get much closer to Times Square than the Marriott Marquis. It is a 2000 room 1 lakh sft. huge hotel close to all the theatres in and around broadway and near the subway station. It may not be a super luxury hotel, but we got a couple of big, clean, and well appointed rooms overlooking the Times Square. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, free wifi was reasonably good and the elevator key system was very impressive. We stayed here for the second time in recent years. However, it is more like a theme park than a hotel, it does not have a traditional lobby, and the huge flashing billboards at night may create some problems for you. One is expected to adjust to stay in the heart of action in New York city.
It wasnt bad and not great. The rooms are average. The seating and comfort of the lobby were subpar. They refunded me a 2nd room that I had that was non refundable, so that was kind of them.I had meetings in other hotels that week and would have done W, Knickerbocker or quite frankly any of the other places I visited if I went again.
This was our GO TO Hotel everytime we came to NY several times a year. Regrettably, we will be finding a different hotel. From the minutes we checked in.....checked in on Convoy app and they did not find my reservation. Took them 20 minutes to locate it and MERGE the two night?????????????No room service any longer , Grab and Go orders wrong each time, room never cleaned ( housekeeping just decided to ignore our room), husband trapped in elevator for 40 minutes, we ate breakfast in restaurant and food was cold and order was wrong, coffee maker at Gift Shop inoperative this morning. Towels are threadbare . The hotel and service is falling apart and management is not making any attempt to resolve the issue. When I asked to be brought fresh towels and the trash removed from the room, they delivered 2 bath towels only and gave me trash bags....UNBELEIVABLE
Room was nice and view amazing. The cleaners and service people were very nice as well, as was the reservation folks (who were super amazing btw!). Special shout out to Vanythia Blackman from reservation sales - the most incredible and nice person, Saiful and James Abe from the service team, and Nadir from security. But my goodness, the reception people were so incredibly rude! I interacted with them 5-6 times during my 8 days, and every single time the person at the reception was unpleasant. Once they accused me of not paying my charges, speaking loudly and aggressively towards me, creating an uncomfortable situation in front of all the other guests. I had to tell him to check my file as I had paid everything up front. He tried to make excuses, but after pushing him he realised there was no outstanding charges. He didnt even apologise, instead told me not to charge anything more.On another instance the man at the reception had his shirt unbuttoned half way, showing his hairy chest. It was very unprofessional and quite disgusting. If not for the reception, I would have given them 5 stars. They really left me feeling bad and upset on most days.
Pretty bad. They will overcharge your card under the excuse of checking if you have balance (surprise — I do, you just charged the entire booking + 50% extra at the check-in), then constantly rebalance your account charging and returning. In the end, Im waiting for 2 weeks for a 20% overcharge yet to return. To get it back, gotta call the gauntlet of terrible robo-voice assistants. The hotel itself is not worth this price. Find far better priced, better feel, just as central locations 2 min away in Hells Kitchen or surrounding areas that dont try to nickel and dime you on internet + breakfast.
Positive: Location was great. Rooms were clean and big. Negative: Very large and therefore confusing where everything was. Only one restaurant and no guide where to go, where to eat, etc. Wifi was supposed to be included and was not. Small store to get coffee and the lines were massive.
Terrible! The show let out the same time as an not convention. Easily 1000 people trying to make it down 2 escalotrs, not to mention the covid surge. I approached Marriot security as kids where getting mauled and someone was going to get hurt. Your security guard decided to get very belligerent and asked me well what are YOU going to do about it. My job is not to keep patrons safe. That is yours. I will NEVER set foot in this hotel or this theatre as they have a complete lack of desire to keep the public safe.
We did a one night stay here using the 50K cert and it was worth it considering the proximity to everything at Times square. Got a complimentary upgrade to a bigger room with Titanium status and we were surprised that the lounge was in operation for the elite members. Mandatory $30/night resort fee was a minor gripe though considering we had access to the lounge anyway.
Attending a conference here and while waiting in line to get my badge, I was denied the use of a restroom. The line was moving so slow I expected more from a conference center of their stature.Having a medical condition that causes me to require frequent use of the bathroom, I found marquis Marriot lack of accomodation quite disappointing
I have had a long association with this Brand (over 25 years) and enjoy one of the highest lifetime loyalty status. Unfortunately, in one of my recent trips I experienced a level of apathy that I regrettably have never experienced in my close to 3 decades of personal and professional travel. There were multiple issues with my recent stay that I wanted to highlight:1)I requested a late checkout – one of the perks with my status – only to be met with a CURT NO from front desk for anything beyond 1 PM (The published Ambassador Elite benefit language is as follows – “Guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout, subject to availability at resort and convention hotels.” Which begs the question a) on use of the word “guarantee…” and b) which good marquis brand is not deemed as either a resort or a convention hotel. While, the rude behavior was a bothersome, one was willing to put that aside as one-off, till I went to the front desk and asked for my final folio while overhearing the front desk staff speak to another guest next to me as follows, “…we can gladly extend your stay to 4 PM…”. BTW – My request was for 2 PM check-out.2)Now you also must request room cleaning service a day in advance. Which one can appreciate given the labor shortage(s) etc. I requested it in advance at the front desk and only once for my stay, only for it to be a no-show on that day. A polite enquiry with at-your-service yielded the following response – “I am sorry but we do not have any room cleaning service till tomorrow.”3)The M Lounge – another perk for the traveler – did not offer any bottled water – even on request. When I requested the same – I was asked to call an extension and request it as room service. Two calls and no one picked up.4)At this point, I felt that I must let someone know of my experience because brand image/loyalty is paramount in the services/consumer industry and this being one of my favorite brands certainly warranted a polite note so someone can look at the merits of the points I had raised to address (what is feasible and appropriate) for future customers (self included). After the phone representative validated my identity, I did share some of the aforementioned points with her. I did point her to the language about around my benefits (which I have seldom used BTW) around Your24 and 4PM Late Checkout. Rather that listening to what the real issue was or making any attempt to show empathy, the reply was, “Sir, that may be listed on your benefits page, but you should read the Terms and Conditions section…” and the only mitigation offered was, “..I am happy to send you a copy of Marriott’s Terms and Conditions…”. My polite suggestion back was, “Miss, as an ambassador elite member (given after 100 nights of annual stays) of your brand you really think I need to be reading the terms and conditions manual before making some basic asks.” I did request her if my concerns can be relayed to the Property manager and she did.5)Lastly, I had used self-park and had requested the valet bring my car well in advance (being familiar with the up to 45 mins delay to bring the car). After being in waiting for over 75 Mins, I went and speak to the Valet Manager to be given the following reply, “Your car is parked at an offsite lot and is stuck in traffic…TAKE IT EASY Bro.” I was just astounded by the attitude of the young lady at the Valet Desk so tried to speak to a gentleman standing next to her. After two queries, directly speaking with him, his response – “I cannot answer you right now, I am working!!” (BTW – I Paid $210 for this parking service). For a brand that I have been a loyal patron of, for close to 3 decades, one certainly hoped for better (read: basic) courtesy being extended.
Location. Location. Location. The New York Marriott Marquis is located in Times Square and everything was exceptional with our most recent stay. The Marriott staff was helpful when we arrived and they directed us to the check-in on the 8th floor. We checked in and were given a room on the 15th floor with a nice view of Times Square. The hotel must have 20+ elevators, all operated by the room keys. Flash your key, it tells you which elevator, you get in and go. You are never waiting more than 30 seconds. As for the room, it was your typical hotel room. Bathroom, tub/shower, TV, couch, safe, fridge, etc... The room was very clean and there was not much traffic on our floor going to or from elevators.Broadway theaters are easily walkable and of course there are plenty of restaurants nearby this Marriott. There is also theater in the hotel, so it was crowded when we arrived around 7p and also around 9p when the show is over. (Currently Beetlejuice is playing here.) Elevators and entrances did get a little congested during these times, but it wasnt a big deal.Security was also asking all visitors for room keys when they walked in, so there was some gatekeeping going on to make sure that only guests were coming in, especially later at night.Although we chose to eat outside the Marriott and didnt use any of the bar/food services offered, they were all available and looked nice. When it was time to leave, we asked guest services for a vehicle to get us back to LaGuardia. They called us when the vehicle was ready. It was a nice newer black Yukon and the cost was only about $10 more than an Uber at the same time, and we didnt have to worry about wait time or finding the right car.Overall it was a superb experience at this Marriott Marquis in Times Square and we would most certainly stay here on future visits.
I would choose a 0 but i cant. This hotel is supposed to be so nice but on our second day the door got jammed the security came but couldnt open it and didnt come back for 20 minutes when we told them specifically to go fast since we were going to broadway soon but they didnt come and we had to leave. Dont come here unless its the new years
Positive: The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. Negative: The sheets were stained with blood from the previous guest, the key card malfunctioned several times. We also witnessed someone injecting their arm with in the entrance to the hotel.more than once.
Location, location, location. In the heart of Times Square. Expensive, and fewer upscale services than I would like. The rooms are simple. But its a very nice hotel. Clean and beautiful. Close to the subway, and an easy walk to Broadway shows. 03/14/22 update: Cant argue with above but want to add that service has gone downhill. Downgraded from 4 stars to 3 stars.
Poorest service I have experience with Marriott.Apart from the good service at the restaurant, the rest is sub critical il all areas. Housekeeping is random to say the least, no concierge, package delivery for a fee, packed lounge, no amenities in the room and less than average representatives, and No empathie whatsoever at the front desk, except at check-in (go figure…).The moto of this hotel could be : “we do the bare minimum”.Better choose something else for the price, with the same convenient location.
Positive: Location, elevators, dining Negative: Leveraging the benefits of the resort fee is not easy to understand, staff does not describe the view you are going to get and the bellhops take time to get the luggage at the end of the trip so we need to plan for that if checking luggage in.
I walked in and the bellman grabbed my bags, walked outside and handed them to the first person who walked by. Confused, I demanded to know why he would do this, and he said it was new corporate policy to just give away guests bags to random people. They handed me $500 and told me to stop making a scene.
I choose to stay at Marriott exclusively when I travel. The reason is because I get the same quality and value at all their properties. This hotel is beautiful and clean. From the minute I arrived, the staff let me see the value, from unloading the car to checking in. The staff is super kind and helpful. The elevators...you just have to experience it for yourself and not be afraid of heights of fast speeds. I LOVED IT! The bathroom was gorgeous and I’m in love with the shower and glass doors. My only negative is with all the beauty this hotel has, my sleep experience was terrible. The mattress was hard as a brick and felt as old as I am. I did not sleep well at all, and at this price and category level, one would expect to sleep well. I reached out to the hotel and the assistant manager did her best to make it right. I will give this hotel another try to make this right. A refund for at least one of the nights would have been great, but I would be happy if the hotel invited me to stay again and review that they’ve made the necessary corrections.
The location and the staff at check-in were good. However, my husbands sunglasses were gone after getting the vehicle from valet parking. So disappointed with how poor the hotel manages/educates the staff. Hopefully, this kind of incident doesnt continue. I dont think I will continue to use Marriott anymore.
We loved that we were right in the heart of Times Square yet couldn’t hear a thing from inside our rooms. The elevators were so efficient. The staff was so helpful with directions. The rooms were immaculate, updated and spacious (we had two double beds). Beds and pillows were so comfortable. Housekeeping were quick to deliver more towels when requested. Loved that we could access our Netflix account on the tv while taking a quick break from the hustle and bustle of NYC. The fitness room was great with a view of Times Square. My family and I couldn’t rave more about our stay here. It was incredibly convenient.
Great hotel. Have stayed there many times. Right in times square. Very convenient. Mobile covid truck right across the street for rapid test. Very friendly stsff. Had trouble printing my boarding passes at kiosk and the desk took care of it all for me. Went above and beyond. Also helped me get a car service to airport. GREAT HOTEL!!
Finally, a much needed renovation is complete! New product is so much brighter, cleaner, technology updated, and overall nicer. Front desk staff is friendly per usual, bell staff was not helpful, most were standing around leaning. The room service is very pricey for what you receive. The elevators are better and now require key card access to go up to guestroom floors.
This is a great hotel. Location is tremendous. Protocols and security are great. Clean with a great shower and decor. I stay in Marriott as often as i can. The pillows are not good. The beds are worn out. Not what Im used to but I dont often stay in locations that are this busy all the time. I hope they upgrade the sleep portion before I return in a month. We had great drinks and a snack in the hotel bar Revel & Rye. Great service.
This is an excellent hotel. Beds are great, rooms nicely furnished. We had a great view of Times Square. Right in the midst of everything. We had a great Saturday exploring the immediate area, stopping by the M&M store, H&M as well as others. They had a market going up Broadway which fantastic. Still a couple more days.
Had a lovely stay here. I would highly recommend staying here for the convenience. Right off Times Square. Close to Central Park. Subway was close and made getting around the city very easily. Outside the hotel felt clean and safe. Rooms inside were lovely, modern, and clean.Didn’t earn 5 stars for two reasons: We called ahead of time to confirm we could get a late check out. On the day of check out, I was told no late check out was available. That was a bit frustrating. And we paid to have our car parked. We picked up our car and it was absolutely filthy.Minor complaints. Overall, I would highly recommend a stay and would return. 👍
Hotel staff were great as usual, quick and helpful at all times. Restaurant & bar are under new ownership. Found food mediocre at a Midtown price ($$$$), service was slow and they obviously lacked staff to provide timely service. They were also unaccommodating in seating, access to tables near windows overlooking TS and out door patio. Most of this was due to managing space due to lack of employees to provide full timely service. Out door patio /bar access was changed by new management for only available to large paid events. As in the way the manager described it bluntly large paid events only! Very disappointing as this was always available in the past for free to all guests. Marriott Marque should really look at contract with restaurant to stay on par with other high end hotels in Mid town. The restaurant / bar issues are definitely a downgrade in amenities compared to other local hotels. Will really need to relook at comparing hotels now for business events.
A friend and I stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square for the reopening of Broadway. We love the convenience of the hotel location to theatres. We were extremely impressed with the excellent service provided and expressed our gratitude to Omar the front of the house manager. Other staff also excellent - Delores Smith at the front desk, bellman Carlos, housekeeping staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great bartenders and food at the Revel and Rye. Clearly the entire hotel was well prepped for reopening even with a short staff and new Coronavirus protocols. We have stayed at the Marquis in the past but this stay was exceptional. The Marquis will be our go-to hotel for NYC stays.
We wanted to go to see Come From Away (because Im Canadian), and tour Central Park. This was the perfect jumping-off point for that. The hotel is right on Times Square, which puts you walking distance to all of the Broadway theaters. The front desk staff bends over backwards to help you out. And the room was luxurious and very comfortable. The only issue is that they dont provide housekeeping services during your stay. This seems to be a COVID and staffing issue, and they will provide services upon request. Other than that it was perfect.
We went to NYC for my daughters 21st, birthday celebration and decided to stay as close to the action as possible. The Marriott Marquis in Times Square did not disappoint! The location was perfect, the staff very friendly and the room was very spacious, considering we have 5 people there. The only problem we encountered, was trying to get an UBER/LYFT, it was very difficult and we ended up taking a taxi instead. Other than that, our stay was GREAT and we would definitely stay there again!
You can’t beat the Marriott Marquis for location if you are attending a Broadway show or tour of NYC. We have been staying here many years. Good news - the elevators work great and you just use your room key to identify the floor you want. Also good news - the rooms have been refurbished and the hotel is clean and feels very safe. The staff is very helpful. But there are no mirrors in the room, only the bathroom mirror and a small hand held mirror in the bathroom. This was so inconvenient. You have to dry hair and put on makeup in a steamy bathroom when your partner isn’t using the bathroom. And no full length mirror to make a final inspection before you leave the room. The room is otherwise comfortable but the lack of mirrors was annoying.
The location was convenient, all of the staff was very helpful and friendly. It was a great help to be able to leave bags at the hotel after checking out so that we could explore the city until time for our flight. Everything was clean and well maintained, we had no issues at all for the duration of our stay.
Staff are all very nice, patient and responsible. The cleaning ladies double checked with me in the corridor after I told them not to clean my room earlier in the morning. The lady at the lobby reminded me when I was checking in that I could email the hotel with the receipt for my last stay to get the Bonvoy reward! The room view is spectacular and the room are BIG. The elevators are fast and there’s never a queue, which is great.
A great location right there next to Broadway and Times Square. The Marriott Marquis has some large rooms which is a rarity in Manhattan. I enjoy being able to go down stairs and walk a few blocks to get anything (think a slice of pizza from Joes) or catch the train.
I am a disabled Veteran and recently had the opportunity to stay at the property. The hotel was very accessible and clean. The view was exciting overlooking Times Square. I will be definitely returning to this property in the future. Also, the security of the hotel was also reassuring limiting access for only guess in areas. I truly recommend the hotel for anyone visiting the area.
Stayed on the 29th floor last night, i booked a premium corner room for privacy but they placed a noisy group next to us. The rooms looked like connecting rooms so we could literally hear loud women talking all night and my family coulnt get an hour of sleep. I had to call front desk at 2am and complain and am not sure if they informed the group to keep it low but for sometime the chatting stopped but resumed again after coupke of hours when we were finally getting some sleep. With such a big hotel, they need to have common sense when assigning rooms so people dont get disturbed after paying around $650 per night.Never staying here again, stayed in Westin Time square many times and never had an issue.
Stayed here for a long weekend in New York. Location is incredible, can’t beat it. The room was renovated and nice. Hotel staff were accommodating and attentive. The only downside was that they aren’t doing house keeping or room service right now so trash piled up and short on towels. Otherwise, great stay.
We had a great stay at the Marriott Marquis. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Staff were beyond helpful. The hotel is right in the middle of Times Square which was awesome but the rooms are quiet as could be. We did not try the food. The breakfast buffet appeared to be very expensive for what was offered. Can’t wait to come back!
With things slowly returning to normal following the pandemic, we ventured to NYC (10/17/21 to 10/21/21) to see the 9/11 Memorial, catch a Broadway show, eat a slice of NY Pizza and also a dirty water hot dog as they are called. Rest assured, we enjoyed some fine dining as well including Wolfgangs. Literally researched for days, scouring through countless internet reviews, to find a place to stay with safety, cleanliness, comfort and convenience as our guiding factors. Finally landed on the Marriott Marquis. Great rooms #4236 (view of Broadway/Ball) and #4217 (opposite direction) with ample space for an enjoyable stay. Shout out to Fred who checked us in with a warm welcome!
Rooms were perfect, beds fabulous, food at Revel a little above average, staff were the most responsive of any hotel I’ve stayed, location the best in the middle of Times Square & Broadway theaters, elevator system was perfection and felt safe & appreciated. Only area needing improvement was the wifi system. So frustratingly slow we switched to our phone hot spots.
This fabulous hotel is located between 45th and 46th streets right on Broadway. It was so convenient for us to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and even though it was fully booked, we hardly saw anyone and it was so quiet. All of the staff were very helpful and polite.
First time at the Marquis my whole experience was fantastic! Entrance is a bit confusing to find elevators to then* get to the lobby on 8th floor, however, the staff is very kind and helpful so you wont get lost!I ordered breakfast in house and had the best home fries I have EVER eaten, highly recommend along with the French toaaaaaaasst!!!!!Their technology around the elevators and room key makes it easy to navigate this GINORMOUS two-avenue sized hotel. I also liked the transparent capsule like elevators, veery cool! The room was phenomenal, clean, plushy, everything was prestine!! Plenty of lighting, hangers, towels, coffee things, connect to your Netflix account with ease and thermostat was also hi-tech.Lastly, THE VIEEEWWWSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! from this bedroom at the 43rd floor was just BREATHTAKING. I couldnt stop taking images every other second, most specially at dusk and dawn. See my pics!!!Anyways, this stay was absolutely everything I was needing and looking for. I am looking forward to staying here again in the near future!!
This was my first time ever at a Marriott. I chose to stay at Marriot due to its reputation for excellence and prestige. Upon staying at the TIMES SQUARE location, I must strongly disagree. The room I had was filthy and uninspiring. The front desk and room service representatives were nasty and had horrible customer service. They definitely require further training on just basic customer service skills. I payed way too much for way too little in return. Very disappointed. If I dont receive some sort of compensation for the horrible experience, I do not plan on traveling with Marriot ever again. Im grateful I did not ding my credit for your credit card.
Some old college friends decide to come see American Utopia on Broadway. It is well worth it. We decided to stay at the New York Marriott Marquis. It was a great choice. Great customer service, nice clean and comfortable room. And easy access to great food and great bars and theater. I highly recommend staying here
We stayed for two nights to catch a show and a ballgame. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Housekeeping tried to come in without knocking on the morning we checked out so be forewarned. We even had the do not disturb sign out. Room service and food options are very limited and expect to pay an exorbitant amount to get food from the hotel. We paid $42 for a breakfast sandwich via room service! If you need food delivered in I highly recommend checking out a service like Uber eats or Grubhub. The parking garage right across the street was very good.
We stayed at this hotel for the weekend before school started with our kids. We loved that it was right at the heart of times square and all the shopping our kids wanted to do. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable on getting around and where to find things.I really liked the fact that they check who is going up to the rooms area by the elevators. We felt safe allowing our kids to take a look around the hotel amenities with older brothers. The rooms were clean and we had a great view of the big screens in time square.I would definitely book here again. Also Juniors restaurant and bakery is right across the street.
We had the most amazing time here. We spent 3 nights and literally were just steps away from the 3 shows we attended. Be careful at the bar...the view is amazing but your drink bill might take you by surprise. I think 18 to 23 dollars (or more if top shelf) per mixed drink. We still went back but just for a couple drinks our last night there. They are still working on getting fully staffed but everyone was so accommodating and helpful!!! You cannot beat the views and location. Be sure to check out restraunt row off 46th just outside the door...we ate at a great Italian place that had been there for over 40 years. Best Italian food I have had in years!!!
Checki your bookings carefully. I booked one room with Times Square view...I was told it was a corner unit with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Times Square. Instead we had a standard room with one window with a view of the back of the builing. When I brought this up to the front desk...they said that if I wnted to move it would be an additional $100/night. I feel like a got cheated!
My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for our 5th wedding anniversary. We loved the view from our room, and the location could not be beat. We had trouble with the Thermostat not lighting up at first but by the first evening it had started working so it was all good. The only complaint that I have would be the mattresses. We stayed in a Times Square View room and for the price of the room we expected to have a much comfier bed to sleep in. I’m not sure if beds have been updated yet in the renovation but should be looked into if not! Overall though we will come back and stay here and will recommend to anyone that is looking for somewhere to stay.
Ive been staying at this otel for many years. I do prefer the old layout of the lobby rather than the new one. The booth for theatre tickets is gone, Starbucks is hidden all the way in the back, and the elevator system seemed to be extremely confusing for most guests. That said, the staff is top notch; there are plenty around on the 8th floor check-in standing around ready to answer your questions. They wished us a good day and were extremely helpful on where to put our luggage when we had to check-out but wanted their excellent buffet. On the bad side, there is limited housekeeping. Stayed a week and room was never cleaned. Why???? People were leaving their sheets and towels out in the hallway as well as the food. Speaking of food after we checked in and walked around Times Square we decided to lay down only to find a bug on our bug. The Management was excellent and quick to change our room in seconds. Overall a great place and well continue to stay there. Please get back to full maid service as soon as possible; we understand it must be hard getting help.
The hotel was nice, the elevators were mostly timely, and the breakfast was good. The dinner food selection was mediocre and the towels were very scratchy. Despite my status and the 30+ floors, I was in a regular middle room with 2 queen beds (single business traveler).
It was my kids’ first time in NYC and the hotel’s location was perfect for what they wanted to see and visit. Close to plenty of shopping and dining and plenty of subway stations nearby. The staff was very friendly. Notables included Kevin at the front desk and Robert from the bell staff as well as the hotel Starbucks baristas. Our room was ready early which was perfect since we had just landed from a red eye flight. The hotel felt very secure and was cleaned well. Our room was spacious for NYC. The gym was well equipped with convenient hours 5a-10p. We really enjoyed our trip overall. Thank you
I got the room for the weekend of my birthday. The room was fabulous the front desk worked with me to get the best view of Times Square. Room was spotless. Hotel staff was a 10/10. The food and restaurants were closed due to covid but staff helped by giving recommendations for things around the area. Felt safe with security checking for room cards every time we came into the hotel. Car staff was on point didn’t have us waiting forever. Will definitely recommend and come back again.
This probably just boils down to a less than favorable experience with check in, attendant was hard to understand, did not make us feel welcome, told us nothing about needing to request housekeeping service and quite frankly we feel she may be better suited for another position at the hotel. just wasnt a very good start to what we hoped would be an extra special hotel experience. After a long day of sightseeing we returned to a room with bed not made and no fresh towels, front desk said they would try to get us service but couldnt guarantee it, for twice the money of other hotel options in same area we expected more, thanks
I was bringing out of town family to New York for a short stay. We were greeted with a friendly smile and a great valet service. The front desk agent was very helpful and friendly as well. We got a superb room overlooking times square. The elevators were just phenomenal and so quick getting us to our desired floors. The restaurants unfortunately were not open because of COVID. But there was a coffee and bakery shop. Which produced yummy coffee drinks for us. Upon checking out we called ahead for our car and they had it waiting for us after breakfast. Very Happy with our stay here at Marquis Marriot. We will definitely be coming back.
The staff was courteous; we were able to check in earlier than we had arranged and were able to freshen up post flight before hitting the city. It may sound pretentious, but it made a difference coming “home” to a clean room after tromping through the city. As a covid measure, as of 9/4-9/6, they’re not turning the rooms daily, which was no problem for me, but something some may care about. The tech updates were cool - your key takes you directly to your floor - which felt like a security strength. Security also requires proof of patronage in the evenings (show your key). Made me feel safer as a single female in the city. Masks encouraged (staff was all wearing them), but if double-vaxed, no mask required. Location was great for a vast array of activities (shows especially, Times Square, getting to the metro, etc). My bank account felt the hit, but it honestly made a big difference staying in a place where I felt comfortable, safe and clean even in the middle of the city. *didn’t try amenities, don’t know if they were available, the city has enough to offer on its own :)
We stayed at the New York Marriott Marquis for a week while in NYC for our wedding. We had a room block for family members and some friends and Wendy Costigan and Jillian Cavallo were absolutely amazing in making sure everything was perfect for us and everyone in our group! Thank you both!We stayed in a “Renovated Suite” and it was amazing! The room was so spacious and perfect for getting ready the morning of our wedding. Plenty of room for hair/makeup people to set up everything and have a handful of people in the room getting ready without anyone feeling crowded or cramped. Our room was on the top floor and the view was beautiful!Every employee at the hotel from the front desk to the employees in the M Club Lounge were all so nice and helpful. The hotel even made sure to leave us a sweet congratulatory note, bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room when we returned from our wedding reception. I can’t thank everyone at the New York Marriott Marquis enough for helping make our wedding week perfect!
Overall it was a decent hotel in Times Square. The room seems to be recently renovated with new items. However, soundproofing between rooms is almost non-existent. We were able to hear our neighbors tv, alarms, coughing, etc.The experience was fun to stay in the heart of Manhattan. It was relatively easy to get to the subway stations in order to get around.
I have travelled all over the world and stayed at a lot of hotels, and I have to say that the NY Marriott Marquis is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. Because I am a Bonvoy Gold Elite member, they upgraded my room for me, the room. as well as the hotel, was extremely clean, they practice safe mask policies as well as sanitizing the room, and it is in the perfect location. Right in the heart of Times Square. I particularly liked that they had 9 elevators and they are very quick. You just place your room card over a reader and there is an elevator you are directed to that opens up just for you. and takes you right to your floor. Very fast elevators as well. That was state of the art technology. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.
I loved the hotel. It was right in the middle of everything. Steps away from restaurants, shops, bars, and various entertainment. The hotel was secured with front door staff, who always asked to see your room key. The only issue is that there was no maid service. I do not like coming back from a long day in the city to towels on the floor and them not being replaced. Otherwise it was a beautiful hotel with a spectacular view of time square.
My husband and I recently took our two grandchildren to NYC. We chose to stay at the Marriott Marquis because of it’s super proximity to the theatre, right next door. Our room was comfortable and our interactions with the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We ate one breakfast at the hotel and everyone was satisfied with this meal.
Having grown up in Queens Ive always been curious to know what it is like to stay in the Marquis. We finally had the chance when we took the kids to visit the grandparents and it didnt disappoint. Unlike all the other Marriott hotels that Ive stayed, the check-in counter is on the 8th floor which threw me off for a bit. The interior looked very luxurious and the room was clean and comfortable. We got a room with a view of Times Square and it was worth it. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful as expected of Marriott. The only minor complaint I have is the elevator entrance at the ground level. The elevator shafts are arranged in an enclosed circular pattern in the middle of the building. There is only one opening to get to the elevators. If you enter the building from the other side, its a walk to get to the entrance. Its kind of a pain when you are lugging all the luggage. However, the location simply cant be beat. Times Square is like Las Vegas in its heydays. The mass of people congregating there till the early hours of the night was incredible. The place was just filled with excitement. The location of the hotel also means getting to all the museums and shopping is just a few subway stops away. Overall the hotel is an excellent place to stay for anyone that wants to experience NYC.
We stayed at the Marriott Marquis for three nights (Wed-Fri) in August of 2021. When we checked into our room, it had not been vacuumed, as I found trash and fingernails on the floor. I then called to ask them to come vacuum, while we were out exploring. When we returned they had not come to take care of it. I then started looking at surfaces, and finally wiped everything down with Clorox wipes, as I was not confident in the cleaning of the room. The hotel was not replacing sheets/towels or doing housekeeping, unless requested, which I was assured would be taken care of if requested. On Friday, before we went out for the day, I requested fresh towels and fresh sheets and when returned it was not done for either of our rooms! I then called AGAIN to request it and someone came to clean my kids room, but not ours. They said theyd send up towels, and I got 5 bath mats. I was really disappointed in the lack of cleanliness and response to my requests. None of their dining was open, so I cant comment on how that was! The bell hops were fantastic!
Did not disappoint. Though there are still limitations, due to COVID-19, I was extremely pleased with my stay. My room was clean and very comfortable. Though not required, I was fortunate to have a partial view of Times Square. And I love the elevator assignment. Also, the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Super friendly and helpful staff, especially the front desk and bellhops. Amazing location, especially if you are seeing Hamilton, Tina or Lion King, as it’s literally just a few steps away. Time Square is also steps away. Check in and checking out was so easy. Will be back next time we are in town for a show!!
Upon arrival I had to show my identification for my rate, which I didn’t receive from my employer yet since I just recently started my job. I had to send an email to the manager from from my work email to verify, which was all fine. The problem I had was as a Marriott member for years now, I felt like I was not a member. The gentleman at the counter was not friendly, treated me like a liar and I’m sure the room he gave us was because of this. Our view was of a few buildings and barely able to see a small side street. The windows were so dirty we couldn’t take any pictures. As a member I would have expected a better view and someone who greeted me upon arrival more friendly. However, great location, but breakfast was ok a little pricey.
I was charged $75 of not checking out at 11 am, even though I was out of the room at 8 am. Most hotels check you out automatically and you just leave. Not this one. Because I didn’t affirmatively check out until 2 they charged me $75. No warning, no notice of this policy. The staff were very argumentative about it. Eventually a manager reversed the charge but only after 15 minutes of shouting about it. Nearly missed my plane. The staff could care less about the guests stay experience. Very NY attitude. Unpleasant place to be on the whole.
The Marriott Marquis was an excellent choice after months of reviewing hotels. It was extremely clean and the staff was professional and gave great customer service. The complicated elevator system that some complain about, is actually a blessing in disguise. Because it takes you to a limited amount of floors at a time, your chance of having an overcrowded elevator is very low. In the heart of Times Square, too, makes it a great choice.
We really enjoyed our stay! The rooms were spacious and the view was amazing! Delores a very professional staff member was super! She was attentive, friendly and her recommendation were appreciated! I’ve never stayed in a Marriott Marquis but this stay was marvelous.
Safety, great elevators, bellhops. Housekeeping is below average. At this time you need to ask toHave room cleaned (they did not tell us that, learned by asking front desk after room not freshened). Price varies soCheck around. Better hotels for a better price close by. Restaurants inside not open.
We went here for a drink and some light food after a show. They make it kinda hard to find the bar and get in (partially covid related but partially crummy signage). Overall drinks, setting and food were very good. Expensive but I expected those prices for nice place for a drink. I would happily return after the next time we go to a show.
If you want to be in Time square then it is a good location for that. otherwise I won’t stay there. The beds not that comfortable, the size off the rooms is ok, NO HOUSEKEEPING for 5 days and they didn’t sent any email regarding that as the reception lady told me when I complained about that!!! be aware of the coffee creamer in your room, mine were spoiled, no free internet in the rooms.. you have to keep calling the service desk when you need towels, shampoo..etc. overall I don’t recommend it unless you want to stay on the Time Square.
This is where I have stayed in NYC for the past 20+ years. Why? Location, location, location……also, I want the familiarity for a strong chain hotel in a major city. Rooms are quite nice, very safe, staff is always pleasant, knowledgeable concierge, close to many great restaurants, in the heart of the theatre district “Broadway” and in the center of Time Square. I’ve never had a less then favorable stay. This is a sure bet…..I like those.
Overall the hotel is great. Close proximity to major attractions. Restaurants were closed due to COVID so didn’t get chance to taste any food. There was an issue with the room cleanliness, but I would give them a pass as this was my first such experience in any Marriott hotel. Overall must stay if you planning to stay in Times Square
Popcorn is good service is wonderful they treat you like family constantly checking up on you they are very fast, water is very refreshing definitely wanna head to NY and come here. It has a wonderful seating and it is very comfortable and fancy right in time square.
Really enjoyed our second stay at the Marquis in Times Square. Right in the middle of the action, this facility is freshly remodeled I think in 2020 and everything is very nice. I like that the rooms here are much larger than average NYC hotels. Security screens everyone who comes in the ground floor before they can get to elevators which is nice. Very pleased with the facility and housekeeping does a great job cleaning rooms. Unfortunately during our stay none of the dining/coffee shop facilities on property were open due to limited staffing created by COVID so I cant rate dining options here.
This is the premier Times Square hotel—largest rooms in the city compared to at least another dozen or so brand name properties. This hotel is in great shape and our room was perfect for our family. We got the connector rooms to give some extra space to roam between two rooms, definitely worth it for a family trip. The entire hotel is in great shape, although it looked like the restaurant might be a little limited due to COVID. Gym was open limited hours, but good size. The location is 2 blocks from the subway and right on Times Square—definitely great for tourism and seeing all the action. Security and elevator system were all great for a safe and secure stay, even with large crowds. Our room faced 45th st so we didn’t have the bright lights of TS coming through our windows but I can imagine those rooms get a lot of those flashing lights all night.
Nice place, fantastic location. Staff were not very friendly especially when calling to ask a question and asking for transportation options, etc. They all seemed inconvenienced. Staff at the restaurant and bar were friendly, but they were the exception. Disappointed that the one asset, the deck overlooking Times Square, was not more accessible. This hotel really banks on the location and corporate business. It has nothing to offer to the leisure traveler.Room wasnt serviced due to COVID. Could have at least brought up supplies each day without having to call to ask for Toilet paper and coffee.
This was my first time back to NYC since the pandemic and I was very happy with my stay at the Marriott Marquis. Ive stayed at this hotel twice previously (before the pandemic) and was confident it would be a safe and comfortable place to stay. I was right. The staff was friendly, professional and helpful. The room was clean. Although housekeeping was minimal, and the restaurant and bar werent open (all due to COVID), we enjoyed our stay. I felt appreciated and valued by the Marriott staff.
The hotel’s location is unbeatable! Room size is standard, depending on your room location, you get interesting views of Times Square.. Staff is “ok”, but not impressed by the service, not Marriott’s “extra mile”. I asked for daily housekeeping service, which is great that was offered, but for some unexplainable reason one night I arrived to my room just to find out it wasn’t cleaned. When I called the front desk all they could offer was clean towels, housekeeping had already left for the day, So my experience with housekeeping wasn’t great.I must also point out that when we arrived, the room was clean.Overall a nice hotel.
Great quick overnight with our family of 6. Definitely recommend the family suite. Plenty of room for us and our 4 kids. Location is great, rooms are clean and big. Staff was exceptional! I wish the restaurant or in room dining was open, but because of covid, we were not able to take advantage of these amenities.
Perfect location in Times Square. Near a lot of shops and restaurants. The staff was pleasant. Rooms and hotel grounds were clean. Due to COVID-19 protocols, housekeeping, concierge and the main restaurant were unavailable. Elevators went down, but the issue was resolved promptly. If they’re down, be prepared to take the stairs if you’re on higher floor. We would come back once everything has opened to get the full experience.
We stayed in a room with a Times Square view which was very cool , and the room dive was large. How ever the hotel smells like a subway, no room service was available during my stay; and the room lacks basic luxury amenities like a shower cap. The bed isn’t bad but is far from luxurious; I would recommend staying elsewhere.
We visited for family vacation in June of 2021. It was my first visit in several years and the first time to NYC ever for my husband and nine-year-old son. Let me just tell you that my first visit to NYC was a business trip with my father where I was lucky enough to stay in the Plaza. I knew I was spoiled and I also knew we didn’t have the budget to make that happen for this trip. I was prepared to be let down knowing what I had on the prior visit. But dare I say it?!? I liked this hotel better. Maybe because I don’t need all the amenities because I am there to tour and not to spend a lot of time in the hotel. I know that statement of being better sounds far-fetched but I was very well-pleased with the Marriott Marquis. The location is perfect. Even though Broadway/NYC isn’t fully open again, yet, they had an impromptu show on Times Square where we were able to see samples of shows for free. The security in the street-lobby initially impressed us by asking you to show reservation confirmation email or room key. That made us feel very secure. We sometimes ordered food from UberEats when we were too tired from long tour days. The security staff even called to verify that we placed an order before they sent the driver to the lobby on the 8th floor. The hotel was spacious, luxurious, and extra attention to cleanliness just following the pandemic. They provided wipes to clean if you wanted to wipe down surfaces in your room yourself. Housekeeping only came of you requested it. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the room and the staff. The restaurants and room service were not available because ofPost-pandemic effects and we were not inconvenienced at all by that. There was a lobby-level gift shop that included Starbuck’s coffee and breakfast items and a Junior’s right across the the street that had homestyle food for any time fo the day. And it was right in the heart of Broadway and Times Square. Shower was amazing in space and in multiple shower heads. We were on the 24th floor and were not bothered by street noise at all. All staff were polite, efficient and quick to serve. Checkout process was quick. Very easy to get a cab or Uber/Lyft…but really no need to use either since you are so close to the 42nd street subway station as well. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel.
Such a great place to stay. Beautiful and right in the middle of Times Square. Large rooms, large tv, bedding is exceptional, and the view from the room was spectacular! The only minor thing that could be improved was the windows could be cleaner (on the outside). We used the AAA discount and with that they gave us free parking and late 4pm checkout which was awesome! Really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back!!!!

2022-04-29Stayed for four nights on business. Every employee I interacted with over the course of the week was exceptionally courteous (note that this is in NYC which is not always known for warmth 😉). The room was well equipped and very clean. The computerized elevator system is a fantastic piece of engineering. I love the elevator. Best elevator experience so far in all my travels. The gym is large, well maintained and clean. I would gladly come here again and hope I have a reason to in the future.

This place is one of the best in the area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you definitely wont be let down.Weve stayed in a few other Marriott properties in NYC, trying to find the one we like best. We finally found it. The king bed room we booked was spacious and comfortable. We loved the M Club and enjoyed the breakfast there daily. The staff was so friendly and attentive. And you really cant beat the location if youre coming to the city.

2022-05-22The room was large, very clean and beautiful, and came with a small refrigerator. The view of the city and water was lovely, and visible from the king sized bed. Customer service was wonderful. There was no need to pay more to upgrade the view to the Times Square side, as the view of the city and water was more calming and lovely, both at night and during the day. The location was close (walking distance) to a lot of wonderful restaurants and shopping. 10 out of 10, Definitely recommend.

2022-04-04Lets talk about room...its facing the time square and we can see everything looking down to the street. Spacious for 4 person and has small ref. No microwave. Two queen bed and pull out bed. Breakfast is my favorite part. Lots of choices. Love the different kinds of bread. Place is very clean. Location is perfect if you want a place near the square and shopping. The staff are friendly and helpful. It was worth every dollar you pay. Will come back again.

2022-03-05First time staying, always wanted to, just a little pricey for my budget. My brother in law recently got a job with Marriott so we got the friends and family. Everything is amazing, clean, safe. And Times Square can be out your window for an extra 100 per night. Still had a great view.

2022-01-21Top of the line superior service. Mobile check-in was quick & fast. The best location right in the middle of Times Square. Only one block from where the ball drops for NYE. Walking distance to the Metro, amazing shopping and OMG right slap dead in the Theater District. Great restaurants in and around the hotel. Dont forget to check out THE VIEW restaurant at the Top of the Hotel. If there in the summer, check out the Broadway Terrace. It was an Amazing experience and the King Premier suite is huge & fabulous!!! I would definitely stay at this location again.

2022-04-29Everyone at the hotel was polite and helpful. Location is great if you are seeing a show on Broadway. We attended a large banquet and the food was the best Ive had at an event like that. Again, all staff were fantastic. The only negative is the beds are hard.

2022-05-02Attended a conference here. You cant get more central than this hotel, smack middle of Times Square (is it a blessing or a curse? depends on who you ask) They recently had a renovation, so the hotel is modern, technology up to date, and everything almost always works. The staff are like ninjas, quick handed, works seamless in the background, you almost dont notice them if you dont intentionally look for them. Theyre also quick to recognize a lost person and quickly come to your aide. 10/10 for large conference or day time meeting.
