New York State - Department of State in other cities:
On 03/07/2018, despite poor weather condition, all public places such as NY Supreme Court, NY County Clerks office, so on, were opened for the public service. It was an emergency to me to visit a chain of the State public places this day. Before coming to the Department of State this day, on or about 1 p.m. I checked on-line its hours. No signs of hours change were published. After coming to the N.Y. Department of State on or about 2 p.m. I found a sign in front of the door that the Department is closed due to the weather condition from 11 a.m.. Why the Department didnt bother itself by informing the people earlier this day, so we couldnt waste our time?I waste my time and money for nothing, not to mention that Ive got cold. But the most important - I couldnt finish my emergency business.Today, March 19, 2018, I finally visited the Department, first checking on-line their work hours. No signs of the schedule changes were shown on the internet. After arriving on or about 2:30 p.m. to the Department I found out that they changed work hours for the public, and now open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.I waste my time and money, again.Later this day, I checked on-line the Departments hours and found out that there was an old schedule, no current changes appeared.I believe that such respectable State organization as a Department of State should start respect those who needs their services by informing us, regular people, regarding any changes, using at least the internet.

2022-03-02I took my real estate exam today (March 1,2022) here. The man that sat next to me was clearly an immigrant, had a thick accent and was having kind of a hard time filling up the bubble sheet. One of the ladies working there humiliated, belittled, and yelled at him for not being able to understand certain parts. She said and I quote “I wouldn’t want you to be my realtor”. Disgusting and racist behavior. English may not be his first language but at least he was trying! She seemed like a very impatient person from the beginning too. I wasn’t able to catch her name but she was tall, black and had glasses. Probably in her 40s too.

2022-07-21Worst experience i ever had. This one lady just brought me to the webpage and told me “your on your own figure it out” and hung the phone up on me!!! You can’t be serious? You need to seriously re organize your staff they are NO help at all. Disgusting.

2018-06-12Poor administration, the staff takes you out of line before 2:30 p.m. doing a gram row so that in the end they do not accept the documents or do not work on them that day.

2022-04-01Easy in and out for apostille drop off. Shavonda at the apostille desk is awesome. Such a pleasant transaction - she made my day.

2021-07-28The never answer the phone and the eacess website is a joke. If you need to be added by your broker it does not allow you to do so online all of a sudden . You have to do it by paper. Then you call the employees are clueless if they ever do answer the phone after having you on hold for 2 hours. They camt even help you and they have no answers.

2020-09-15The worst website you might deal with while running your business. Over 1 hr wait times for phone assistance, all I tried to do was renew my licenses, when we could mail in payments it would take less than 5 minutes, with this mandatory online renew it took me over an hour. If I could give negative stars I would have. This was by far such a waste of time dealing with this website that I actually wrote this review.

2021-09-15Businesses are charging credit card surcharges all over Long Island and breaking the law. Consumers are being ripped off every day and the state government does nothing about it. I have made 2 complaints to the State Department and and still no enforcement. Covid does not mean you don’t have to do your job. I believe there should be a class action suit against the State Dept. for ignoring the damages to consumers. Also Rossana Rosado should resign for not doing her job.

2019-10-23*Update from 10/23/2019:So I came here again, a year after the last time and the process became so much faster and easier comparing to the last year. Now they give you a number upon check in so you can actually sit down instead of standing in line while waiting for your turn. I came in around 12pm and it took me 5 minutes to drop off my papers. Make sure to buy a money order in advance ($10 per document) as they don’t accept any other form of payment.Very long lines, the staff is friendly though. You should come early in the morning, the wait time is much shorter then ( about half an hour to drop off the papers). The working hours as of August 2018 are 9:00am to 3:30pm.

2019-09-16A no good experience to be yelled by the staff just because you dont exactly know where to go and you asked direction from your co-applicants. I just felt pity for that korean woman who was yelled by the front desk staff ! That behavior is too rude for a government office like them and considering the fact that you will be paying for the service that took longer than expected. I hope this office will improve the way they deliver their services efficiently and treat everyone fairly!

2019-01-07They handle a high number of apostille per day, usually rather efficiently. The new number system is definitely an improvement. Lines might get long, and depending on that wait times can go from a very fast 15 min to 1hour or longer.
