My mom went to the emergency room at 12:00 pm noon and left the emergency room at 2:00 am the next day. All while just waiting for a CT scan. There was no waiting area for family members. The security guard took all the family members to the street. I will never come to this hospital. It’s dirty, the doctors and nurses are rude, and it’s just awful. I don’t care if it’s busy there is no reason for anyone to be in the hospital for 10+ hours for a CT scan. I’d rather die of pain than to ever come here again.
I delivered my 5th child via c-section about two weeks ago, Im no novice when it comes to Gyn/OB, sonography, labor and delivery departments, etc and I can tell you all of the basics about cleanliness, security, professionalism, and what not but Id like to share my experience. I have never been to a hospital and through its networks where everyone is so kind and gentle with me. Not only are they kind they listened and acted immediately to get me the care I needed, addressing issues a previous hospital failed to address during a previous pregnancy in 2019. I wasnt ignored, rushed out, over drugged, or overwhelmed. Every person that entered my room, whether it was a doctor, nurse, cna, or lactation specialist and in every outpatient clinic taught me something with each visit. This is the true definition of a teaching hospital. If youre looking for a peaceful experience and not to be treated like an experiment you will not be disappointed here.
Ok so normally my family comes to this hospital. We have had previous good experience. But this time I am to come for a scheduled surgery. And no one seemed to be on the same page. But Everyone seemed to be trying to help until I encountered this one RUDE lady on the 1st floor building 515. Marlyn Givens (Administrative services )does not need to be working here at all. She is the ABSOLUTE WORST. Not only to me but was dismissive with other patients too. She has no patience. She does not speak to you professionally. She does not explain what you should do. She just says have a seat. She will change your whole mood from coming in early in the morning. She does not wanna answer questions. Her only concern is do you have an appt. IF SHE STAYS AT THIS HOSPITAL SHE NEEDS EXTENSIVE TRAINING ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THE PUBLIC. A gentleman at the same desk helped me and went to assist with getting me checked in and a few others. I would like to send a email mail to the board about her.
My Grandmother was recommended/admitted to this hospital based upon a referral from her kidney specialist. While the nursing staff is attentive and supportive, the Admin staff (meaning social/case workers) are all over the place. My Grandmother is currently undergoing dialysis and still weak, but they keep pushing to discharge her. There seems to have been three or four different social workers since shes been at the hospital. They provide, or blurt out rather, a bunch of information and then disappear leaving you dazed and confused. I wish the Admin staff was more attentive and professional with assistance...or at the very least, spoke to each other so patient information is coordinated and concise when information is relayed to family members.*update - Thankfully over the weekend, we are working with a social worker (Melissa Bryant) that is assisting with my Grandmothers after-care.
Extremely poor patient care and outdated pandemic guidelines. Front desk staff are clueless about current CDC guidelines. In addition, patients are unaware that a single person is only allow to visit for the duration of their hospital visit; visitor must be on a list. We drove 2.5hrs with my wife to visit her sister but were not allowed to go in (they blamed COVID rules). Totally unacceptable how they are not following current CDC guidelines and they lack basic knowledge on their own in-house policies!
I’ve come to this hospital for many years, over the past two years. I’ve had to bring my daughter to the emergency room. My daughter suffers from a very serious illness that causes her to experience very severe pain. We have been in wait for hours for pain medication . This has happened several times. The level of concern and compassion is seriously lacking from these people. They treat patients horribly. Our last experience we waited more than 5 hours for a bed to be cleaned. While in pain . We were here til shift’s changed. Not one doctor or nurse came to check on her. Deplorable.
I would say something has terribly gone wrong with this hospital after the merger with Presbyterian. I used to go to this hospital for more than two decades but yesterday had a awful experience. Emergency room was like a war zone. People were standing in a line outside who needed urgent care but there was no proper sitting or waiting area for them until they are seen by the doctor or nurse. They had no bed availability for patients who are in need of urgent care. When you ask them about the wait time, they were clueless. Attending ER nurse had no answer when you ask basic questions. We decided to pull out the name from waiting list and went to another hospital where our need was carefully addressed. I guess hospital is expanding with hugh facility across the street but still they do not have enough beds to meet demand of emergency room.
The nurses and hospital staff is nice, but if you want to be partially treated and rushed out by the physicians then this is the hospital to be in! I was admitted in November this year and was discharged with a totally different medication (after I told the doctors I was uncomfortable leaving because I still felt ill), to then find out I was allergic to, so I was given another medication to treat my illness after I saw my Primary Dr. My Dr then told me to go back to the ER and when I did I was told that my illness was partially treated 😫, so I was admitted again. So after 25 hrs the doctors started theyve seen an improvement and i can be discharged...again still feeling uncomfortable because there is no improvement. I know that I would not come back because I strongly feel that they rush you out just to get more people in. I would not advise anyone that wants proper care to come here...maybe if you want an official doctors note to have days off of work
I am extremely disappointed with the lack of care and empathy for the patients served in this hospital. The medical staff seldom came in to check on their patients and the doctors did not check for any viral signs or changes. The floor in the emergency room was also dirty. This reflects a lack of leadership and supervision in the administration. I just hope that this hospital will take these reviews seriously.
Horrible ER experience, waited 4hrs for blood work results. Was offered no food & most important of all was not tested for covid19. Add that to the fact that i went in with chest pain & received inadequate attention. Service is poor, this hospital changed for the worse will never come again.
Im so sorry but I have to say I dont want to give one star at allWhy people come to imargancy , if they need to wait 8/9 hours who comes here again.Government pay the hospital bill but hospital gives most of the waste treatment I ever received. When I came after 5 hours they gave me just one ibuprofen thats it?Ill never go there because im thinking it just wasting time and insurance money thats it
Went to see Dr. Samuel Van de Velde for some hip problems. Hes an orthopedist there. Lovely guy. Patient, informative, humble, east to speak with. He asks me to get an MRI. This is where the problem starts. I was asked to call an outside MRI service to set up MRI. I call this service and am told to call the doctor to get an authorization # for the MRI. I call the doctor. After about twenty minutes of being bounced around their customer service center, I finally get the desk where I can speak to the person who can get me the authorization code to get the MRI. However, that particular person is out to lunch, can they call me back? Four hours goes by and no call back. I call them again. Another 15-20 minutes on the phone, on hold. Finally, I get the woman Im told handles this stuff. Her name is Sonaya. Sonaya, I need to set up an MRI and I was told you are the person to talk to about this. Well, she says I need to get an authorization code from the insurance company. That usually takes a few days. Can I call you back next week? Great. Call me back next week.A week goes by. No call from Sonaya. I call the next Friday. Another long wait on the phone. Finally, I get a live person who is able to tell me Sonaya is not available. Can she call me back? I ask how does the whole process of getting the authorization # for the MRI work? Oh we gotta call the insurance company, then they review and give us a number. I ask if it usually takes this long, it has been two weeks.Oh yeah, you aint the first in line.So if I call the insurance company and ask them why this is taking so long, could you provide me some sort of reference # to show that you have reached out to them? So they know what Im referring to.Well, like I said, its Sonaya who sets these appointments up. Do you want me to have her call you back? No, thats all right. Ill just call insurance company and see if they can help me.Another 20-30 minutes later on hold with insurance company, I learn there is no record of any request for authorization from Sonaya in the orthopedics dept. at NY Presbyterian at Methodist Hospital. That call hasnt come in. The whole tone and attitude with the support staff at this hospital is if my call is a big inconvenience and theyre doing me a huge favor just getting on the line with me.Time to find a different hospital.
WORSE hospital ever!!!..It is really getting me upset how the doctors team ignore the patient who is in severe pain for hours and don’t respond to the family members or caregivers or even the nurses when they ask for help. the doctors and staff are really bad and everything takes forever to be done.
Thank God for my cardiologist❤️ over 10 years had told me to get myself stat to this life saving hospital! My first-admitting Doctor in their ER had saved my life from uncontrollable bleeding out of my nose & mouth!I had developed these strange bruises all over my body didnt know how I had developed very dangerously low platelets. At 57 just 1 week b4 Christmas 2018 I never experienced anything as scary from excessive blood gushing out seemed like gallons of it. It was truly like in a horror 🎥 shocking where it actually started @ another hospital that didnt know how to control it a small 🏥 couldn’t stop my excessive bleeding so had to sign myself out against Dr’s advice VERY grateful both Dr John Sayad & Dr Karim Sayad returned my calls at 11pm telling my husband where to take ASAPMy superhero & living angel Dr Bernstein in ER with his team of other doctors, nurses, aides as well ER staff were above&beyond professional, kind, compassionate I had never experienced in my life over 50 years living in NYC Truly believe in my❤️ & mind if it were not for his diagnose with full complete attention I would not be here today to share his success in bringing me back to life over night.
If i had to give it 0 stars I would, how do you not know a pregnant womans blood and water levels and tell her when shes in extreme pain that shes just having contractions? Without checking? Thank god I found this out i changed my wifes delivery hospital ASAP to coney island where they actually treated her and gave her a blood transfusion that she really needed that presbyterian couldnt figure out ! Dissapointed would not reccomend this place for any expecting mother . Your better off somewhere else.
No one picks up the phone in many of their departments. Ive called medical records over and over again today, and I can hear the lady pick up the phone and then hang it up. I decided to call back to back to see if shed just keep doing it, and she picked up and hung up on me 12 times in a row.
PLEASE HELP ME tell the truth about what this place looks and feels like. My wife had a baby at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Brooklyn and I wanted her to have at least some level of comfort. So we spent over $400 EXTRA for a private room for two nights after the delivery. We were extremely disappointed with the experience. What we got was a rundown, badly maintained room that didnt compare to even the low rated motels in the nation. We complained about the condition of the room, but we were not transferred or compensated in any way. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital management and marketing team, we have nothing against your hard-working staff, but its time you invested into your infrastructure and stopped lying to people with all your marketing bull. This is NOT what a New Yorks #1 Hospital looks like. Ive experienced so much better elsewhere. I am never coming back. Also, stop contacting me with your apologies, and just fix your problems and reinvest some of the money you take from regular people like us.
My husband did the residency at this hospital and then fellowship in different states. I love this place where my dad was treated as well as my mom. My father passed away here and the way the staff, doctors took care of him it’s remarkable! My daughter was born there too. I recommend this hospital to all. Thanks
Since this hospital has been taken over by Presbyterian, it has been miserable experience after miserable experience. When you absolutely need to schedule anything that needs to be done in the facility you can not get an appointment that works for your schedule. They also stopped Saturday appointments in most departments. Not to mention the new building feels like your trying to get into Fort Knox instead of a health facility. This hospital may not have been cosmetically updated before the take over but patient care was never an issue. I feel terrible for the nurses and doctors that are affiliated with this hospital because not only are the patients numbers to the administrators but so are they. Do better!! Don’t feed us the automated message that you are sorry for any inconvenience. It is beyond that now with this place.
After experiencing severe stomach pains I went to the ER at this facility on the evening of Sunday Dec. 5th. I arrived at 7:30pm to a full “wait room” which is situated in a corridor. I waited an hour to first be spoken to, the room I was examined in was very dirty. I then waited another hour for an ECG, then in another hour and a half I was told I had been given a bed.I was sent to room 42, when I entered I disturbed another patient who was in there in a gown waiting to be seen. I went to try and find the nurse who had sent me there to tell her that room 42 was occupied, to no avail. I was very unwell and had to wander around the chaotic ER trying to find someone to help me. I was told to find the charge nurse by reception. I asked a dr and a nurse if they knew where the charge nurse was and I was told by both of them that they didn’t work there. I finally found the charge nurse and she along with all the other staff seemed very confused as to which patient was where. I waited for another 45 minutes to be given a room.I was told my room was clean and I could go in. There was a dirty test tube vial on the floor as well as a used Covid test. The sheets on the bed were wet.Almost every member of staff I spoke to mentioned how chaotic and disorganised their facility is. Many of the nurses complained to me about “mismanagement.”I finally left the hospital at 3:30am with no diagnosis and in the same amount of pain I had arrived in.As someone from the U.K., I can confirm that free, National health service hospitals far exceed this one.
Where do I start ? My experience was just awful here and the front desk person in the emergency room . “Liz “ well she picked up the phone around 6:37pm tonight . She just made my day even worst, horrible customer service . Black people supposed to stick together. I get treated so much better at Langone hospital in comparison. I cried in this hospital room triage . How did they possibly lose me in the hospital? Now I can’t get any of my results back .
I am very dissatisfied with the services my sister from another has received from your facility and staff. On Thursday evening her mother was sent to the ER from the nursing home. Almost 24 hours later, 28 calls and several messages left, and having a cousin personally go down to the ER to check on her mother’s status, she finally got an attending dr to call her. Unfortunately, the dr did not provide her with his findings and failed to inform her that her mother now had Covid, yet a few days prior when she was discharged from the hospital, we were told that they performed a couple of Covid tests and they came out negative. Here we are on the third day, and after calling the hospital again for her mother’s status, leaving a couple of msgs we are yet to hear back from anyone. The staff on the phones are Very Very Rude, have no regard for the family’s concerns and are quick to put you on hold for 10 minutes or more, then get back on the phone, forgetting the information you already provided them, asking you for said information again only to put you on hold again and start the same process over. This has been the worst customer service received not only by the staff answering your phones; also by the drs and staff attending to a loved one. Please note had we not lived over 3 hours away and her having shoulder surgery only a week and a half ago, we would have gone to the ER to check on her mom personally. We are disgusted, disappointed, and completely upset with the way we have all been treated!
Had my first newborn at this hospital. Dr Jill from Guirguis group was my gynecologist. She was superb and hospital was neat tidy. Nurse and staff were amazing. Abey Nurse 👩⚕️ especially. Had a wonderful experience during my recovery in recovery room. Would definitely recommend this hospital for labor and delivery. Thank you NYP !
I Came to the hospital at the end of august 2021 I was in labor and gave birth I had the best experience with a nurse name zoya/soya on the labor and delivery floor she was so attentive and helping. She coached through labor and was so helpful I recommend her to anyone who goes there to give birth she was the best. The other staff members were also very helpful with helping me adjust after giving birth.
The worst experience ever!! I schedule my appointments as directed and still have a wait time of over 2hours, in addition, people come after me and theyre seen first. When I ask whats the status of my place to be seen Im told they dont know. This has happened on more then 1 occasion. If I could give 0 stars for womens imaging I would! Its unprofessional and very unorganized. Will definitely be spreading the word about the horrible service here so others can avoid it.
My best friend spent a month at this hospital, and while there were individuals who seemed to care what happened to him, by and large he was neglected and ignored. My five calls to Patient Advocates went unanswered. More often than not there was no live person on the other end of the line and I had to leave a voicemail. Which was never returned. He was pushed out to rehab while still very sick, had received three blood transfusions, had internal bleeding. He died one day later. It is too late for him but I will never forget. This hospital is the worst. If you have any other option, any at all, take it.
In July 27th I was brought to the ER @ about 9-10am following fall in my home resulting in fracture femur above and below my knee.Pain was so excruciating, I was wheeled into one of the cubicle, no one attended to my calling out for pain.In the mean while a FDNY person came in to the cubicle across from me and all the attention was for him, as I kept crying out for pain one nurse tell me she’s not my nurse,I had to call my family member to inform the ER of my pain to the point the clerk was disgusted with my family member who kept calling still no results I called my PCP who called to informed them I was in excruciating pain, couple of time before I was medicated finally at around 3pm.I was finally admitted to the orthopedic unit to await surgery @ about 6pm . Kudos to the nurses on that unit, I was kept medicated for my pain until my surgery by the best orthopedic Surgeon Dr NWanko.
Woow just sad what happened to the hospital , I came 12/14/21 around 10pm and the lady registered me and I saw that it’s a lot of people in the waiting room I asked her how long is the wait because I don’t need anything to be done I just need to be seen and I need prescription for antibiotics, I usually have something every year or 2 a year and I just need antibiotics, she told me that they will take me fast , so after waiting in full of poor people waiting for god knows how long I came up to the lady who registered me and asked her how long more do I have to wait she told me everybody is waiting and I have to wait also , so ok I waited almost 2 hours past I told her that I cannot wait anymore I am in pain , she said ok good bye . So I left . I would not recommend the ER hospital to anyone unless you want to die and suffer . I came to NYU and they took me right away and by the way they checked my pressure right away and it’s was high
I was admitted to NYPBM hospital August 2nd from a stroke. I arrived to emergency about 11-45 am or so and waited anxiously till I received a room and bed at 1:45 the next morning. I thought the wait for a bed was quite long, but what can you expect in an emergency triage full of people. I was admitted to room 8047b-notrh where I was lovingly cared for by a host of doctors, nurses(R N nurse Abina Stein being extra exceptional)and the support staffs. My Kudos goes out to all nurses and nurse techs. After spending some days in the medical unit I was transferred to the Acute Occupational/ Physical Therapy Unit where i spent 10 days. Again the treatment was exceptional. This time I was in room 8007a-southThe staff was great, the doctors caring, the nurses and technicians wonderful, the O.T. and P. T. trainers I had were super men and women.BTW, the food and service was good in both placesI would highly recommend this hospital
I was in their cardiac unit twice. On BUCKLEY 5. They have the BEST DOCTORS AND NURSES on that unit. I had a heartbeat of 160 to 180 beats per minute. Dr. Reddy and Dr. Haq are phenomenal. The staff was professional knowledgeable courteous and friendly. The nurses have a lot of caring loving and professionalism. Very knowledgeable courteous and patience. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU FOR THE HOSPITALIZATIONS TO MY SURGERY,
If you are thinking of delivering a baby here. Please DONT, you will regret it. When it was Methodist it was so much better. This hospital got so bad, you press a bell for Motrin it will come 2 hourse later or might never come. Mother and baby section is a complete nightmare, were the nurse will leave telling you they have other things to do.. however there will be a gem of a nurse here and there who will go out to help you. We will never come back here again. If I had a to put in a complaint, it will be a easy long. Avoide this place at all Coast!
I admitted my father with an heart condition yesterday and we were very impressed by the care, friendliness everyone at the hospital showed towards us during our greatest need. Since I’m diabetic and did not have access to food while waiting for service in the ER, they gave me a free boxed sandwich with drinks. The hospital is very clean and the staff seems organized. The doctors and nurses were very professional. We are confident that my father would be getting the best care possible. He had 2 heart procedures at this hospital before and this is his third time. This would be my go to hospital in the future for my entire family. I think this is the best hospital in Brooklyn. My family is very grateful to all the staff at this hospital.
Staff are nasty and incompetent. The baby’s doctor came and visited my son and wife and gave a clean bill of health so we may get discharged. The problem was the dam doctor never put in the chart and she left for the day. So I now had to wait three hours later just to get discharged. My advice have your baby at another hospital. Horrible staff with mixed information as well. One nurse says to this. The next nurse says to do it another way. No communication among each other what so ever.
This hospital allowed my brother to get sick and die. I don’t have anything else to say other than God knows all and sees all. These facilities and staff don’t care about people it’s all about revenue and making money. I’m disgusted and my experience with this hospital only made my feelings about healthcare worse!
I was in the emergency room and treated superb by Dr. Merit Milad. She was so professional and caring.I’ve never encountered a Doctor Who really loves what she does. She really listens to her patients ,was very attentive and patient.Great hospital to go to.We need more doctors like her who are actually there to help the patients.Thank you for your help. I recommend this hospital.
Patients are not brought water or food for eight hours. No call buttons on the bed. Bathrooms without soap. Flatlining alarms going off, nobody reacting. Doctors with wildly opposite things to say, the E.D. telling my dad not to listen to the cardiologist, to listen to her instead. Then the cardiologist saying, “no, listen to me, she’s wrong.” Pain medicine promised, never delivered five hours later. Hours and hours unplugged from a machine, then a doctor showing up and saying “why are you unplugged?” People seemingly dying from something very much preventable: the absence of simple protocol and clear communication amongst their medical team. A top to bottom audit of operations is beyond prudent. This is like going to a hospital in Afghanistan.
I brought my parents in last night because they were very ill. I have to say the staff in the emergency room was wonderful very attentive, patient and efficient. The doctor in the emergency room Dr Daniel k cant remember his last name. Thank you for being so caring, attentive and efficient. I appreciate you taking the time to explain on the phone the covid antibody treatment . I appreciate you taking the time to make sure they wouldnt have an allergic reaction towards it. Because of it my parents are feeling so much better immediately today after just a few hours after administration. The whole staff was wonderful. God bless you all and thank you for what you do. I truly appreciate all your hard work and dedication to your patients with this pandemic. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Went here Monday 08/30/21. Arrived via ambulance. Was dizzy, vomiting, had chronic diarrhea, horrible stomach cramps and a 103 degree fever. Staff that were working when I arrived were completely aloof, rude, and without care. Worst bedside manner I’ve ever encountered. Shift change occurred while I was there. Staff were nicer but the attending physician sent the resident physician to kick me out prematurely. They sent me home with nausea medication and said they don’t have anything else they can do for me. My fever was still 101 degrees, I was dizzy, could barely stand, and I fainted walking to the subway trying to get home, and pooped on myself. It was dehumanizing and embarrassing. I still needed to be monitored until I wasn’t dizzy at the very least. Today is Thursday 09/02/21, and most of my issues still persist. I’m at NYU Langone Cobble Hill Emergency Room where I’m receiving much better care and being treated like a human being.
I have been patient with the new way of how this hospital conducts business since it has open up its new facility that houses the infusion center. To get in contact with a department directly is none existent. I have Crohns disease and one of the things I am told not to do by GI doctor is stress and calling this place stresses me out beyond belief. You literally have to die to get service.
The miss communication among doctors, nurse managements(not nurses), and security will make you throw up. Due to COVID, it seems the nurse management teams got the power of a president. Doctors are saying family members are welcome in the hospital because my Ma (admitted in the hospital) has 2-3 hours of life. However, nurse management is like we have the ultimate power and we cannot let you guys in. After being nice and try to have two way communication, this nurse management team seems not human with a heart.
AMAZING HOSPITAL. I came to the ER with severe abdominal pain. Sure, it took a couple hours to be seen by someone, but it seems many of the negative reviews are complaining about the wait and I do think those people may need to gain some perspective because these nurses and doctors are BUSY. They see/treat/operate on so many patients, all day and night. Once I got my result back that my appendix had ruptured, the doctor herself came to explain everything to me quite late at night, and they admitted me immediately. I have to say, EVERY. SINGLE. NURSE. (around 10 of them total) I interacted with was compassionate, genuinely caring, patient, and kind, all in addition to being super experienced and competent. I was pretty freaked out and scared, and they made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. Even the gentleman who took my CT scan sensed I was scared and made little small talk with me to ease my anxiety. I felt so supported throughout my entire four day stay. These people genuinely wanted me to feel better. My last day the nurse gave me step by step instructions on how to change my gauze, gave me a bag full of gauze and sent me off WITH A HUG. These nurses are true heroes, and if something happened to any of my loved ones, I would want them to come here.
We’ve had 3 experiences at this outdated hospital:1. ER visit in 2019 took 11 hours for what should’ve been a quick assessment.2. Delivered a baby in 2020 when the hospital had a legionella outbreak which meant there was NO RUNNING WATER for the duration of our stay (4 days)3. Most recently in aug 2021 had another baby, where there was a COCKROACH in the labor and delivery room. When we alerted the staff, they nodded knowingly and told us that the building is old and they have a cockroach problem and that they sometimes FALL FROM THE CEILING.This place is a disgrace and I will travel to manhattan before I ever set foot in that hospital again.
If you have to be in the ER be prepared because some of the African American/islands nurses are very unprofessional and have attitude problems. I pressed the emergency bottom of my room because a machine won’t stop beeping loudly and a few minutes later a couple of nurses opened the door and one of them just yelled from the door “what’s the problem”. Very unprofessional.
I am taking my daughter Rayan Tariq to the cardiology Department. She is under the care of Choppra, Manoj. God bless him for his professionalism. He is God Gifted Man with Down to earth Personality and His blessed with Excellent team of Professional staff. The Intern Doctor ,The Receptionist, The ECG Tech, The Eco Tech they all are very caring staff., dont . I dont have words to Express my feeling.God Bless you All.Note , (The Rooms in the Hospital are very clean and all precaution taken in for the Covid-19.)
Ive been coming to this hospital for at least ten years and I love and trust everyone there who has ever done a thing for me. I dont go to any other hospital in Brooklyn. Why 4 stars? The patient navigator is extremely rude, extremely nasty. I almost dont want to speak with her again but unfortunately I have no choice if I want a new PCP which I do. Specifically at Methodist because I dont trust any other hospital in Brooklyn. Please replace that vile woman Norma. She is positively rude, vile, and obnoxious, and disgusting. Im very disappointed.
Came here today for knee replacement surgery. The care I received from every single person I’ve met here has been absolutely top shelf. I’ve seen some of the negative reviews and to be honest I was a bit worried about coming here. Wow I was worried for nothing. They check up on me constantly. And when I push the call button they come almost immediately. Most of the bad reviews I’ve seen were regarding the emergency room. If you need to go to an emergency room you’re almost always going to have a bad experience. There are life and death decisions being made and people with life and death issues. There will almost always be things that go on that are questionable. But the care I received at this hospital is the best I’ve ever experienced in my life. Also the place is very clean. If you have surgery scheduled here, do not be worried. You will be in great hands.
Im expecting, my due date is in a week. I went in because my hands and feet were swollen and I had numbness throughout my limbs. I just wasnt feeling right. This is where Ive been receiving my prenatal care but it was the closest. When the doctor and nurse were asking me why I came in, they were extremely unwelcoming and annoyed that I didnt go the hospital that was an hour farther away. Their questions were speculative, more like being questioned by an officer. Even though my blood pressure was borderline they didnt take a urine sample or do any blood work. I have them 2 stars because I didnt have to wait long. My hands and legs are still tingling but the swelling has gone down a bit.
I went to the emergency room a few days ago and it’s so disheartening the care I received at this facility. I got there at 6 pm because my doctor referred me to do so to rule out a serious condition. I waited in a blue chair between what looks like nurses stations. I was told I’d be given a room, never happened and some lady said I told the other nurses they know. I’m in extreme pain and tired. I waited patiently 2 other women came after me and got rooms and I’m still in this blue chair, I get greeted by Jimmy super polite and though it took time I waited. Over an hour I meet Jimmy , and my friend comes to meet me at this point . Another hour passes I meet the doctor who starts to ask me personal questions how I’m feeling the basics I show her my referral, mind you STILL IN THE BLUE CHAIR GOT EXAMINED, Asked several personal questions and answered accordingly. I was sent for an exam, came back down to this blue chair, there are 6 , most of them filled and this doctor decided to give me my results in front of everyone I was shocked and unhappy about how my rights were being violated . I let it go I’m in pain and I just needed help. It’s pushing almost 10 pm and apparently my urine test was never done by the nurse who left my doctor has me waiting and I’m thinking I’m going to get the initial exam I was sent to do by my Primary doctor. I flag my doctor and I’m like they never took my cup shes like I’ll do it myself because I don’t know what’s going on here. My doctor and Jimmy were fine. My friend leaves to go get food because we been there for hours . And when he comes back is told by a woman that he cannot come in. I found that odd when everyone else in these chairs were all there with someone. What shocked me the most was that some of these workers Did not CARE ABOUT HAVING A MASK on. But cared if my friend was there to support me . They have it and take it off near one another whenever they please in front of patients meanwhile I’m there with it on the entire time. My job makes me wear a mask my entire shift and get inspected 3 times a week by the state health officials and we get fined for not following the expected standard to prevent COVID. Most of these people have no regard for anyone else. After attempting to throw my friend out I was fed up and left. If I get extremely sick just know guys it’s from the hospital. Stay away from this place even if your desperate like I was go somewhere else. There’s a cute sign that says no one should record but I think that’s what people need to start doing to hold these individuals accountable for their blatant lack of respect for others.
Hospital was filthy and the staff were carefree. The bathroom was covered in blood. How unsanitary! Doctors sat around and socialized at the physicians station and rarely tended to patients. It seemed as if they only had residents making rounds and the seasoned doctors talked and surfed the web. I wouldnt recommend Methodist to my worst enemy. They dont care about their patients! If I wanted to wait for hours to see a doctor, I wouldve just gone to my primary care. The hospital is poorly run and I wouldnt be surprised if in the near future they go out of business like Long Island Hospital did. If you are going to have that many doctors covering the emergency room, then they should all be working and not just sitting around wiggling their thumbs. Shame on you! Despicable service!
The worse hospital I ever been to. Hipa violation on every corner. The person downstairs acting like a professor giving out passes, hardly knows alphabet so I had repeat my last name 3000 times. Why would you have Security man by the entrance when they even never ask for ID. Everyone is so lazy and extremely hard to deal with.
Ive never thought Id see such a horrible hospital. Was in labor and delivery, and I saw about 10 women in labor waiting in the waiting room, most of them were in very active labor, some screaming and crying. Instead of being properly taken care of, they are sitting on chairs or strolling around to ease the pain. The cafeteria food is pretty bad and very expensive for what you get. Most nurses are not responsive, you need to harass them to get what you want.
This facility is short staffed and its a big problem. Doctors are simply not available to patients when needed to report problems. The doctors that are covering nighttime shift do not respond when paged... During the day staff doesnt have enough time for every patient and are constantly rushed from one patient to another... Nurses and some techs have attitude and if you call for a supervisor - Sylvie is surprised that the covering MD for the night didnt show up for 2 nights in a row! Horrible.Inpatient unit is horrible as well. Techs only do your vital signs and wont let you have enough rest to heal or leave you alone even if you still need help and its complex of issues.Pharmacy doesnt carry sufficient variety of meds and it takes some staff members to go extra mile to get you what you need. This is actually appreciated greatly - those people who help. There are volunteers in here. Some are great others are not as good.
Eye pain, toe pain , toothache arent life threatening emergencies, however those who need to be seen asap will be seen. No energency room is the fastest when peoples health are being evaluated, however bad experiences from nurses and doctors makes it bad for the rest. My sister gave birth here twice great experience, ive been there as well the wait was long however i was prepared for it. Overall its a great hospital.
I like this Hospital alot and glad the ambulance brought me here one night a year ago. It took this Hospital to discover something thats been wrong with me for awhile that no other doctors discovered. I am grateful to the team of doctors here that helped me and continue to be apart of my recovery. I also like now with covid that everyone must wear a mask and get their temperature taken upon entering the hospital. The doctors are nice and do explain things when asked and even when not asked. I ask alot of questions and sometimes the same ones and so far my team hasnt got frustrated with me. If anything they are patient.
Price gougers over at the Emergency services. Over the past few years, Ive visited 3 emergency rooms in the immediate neighborhood, and some in different states, and have never received a bill so high for basic services - just blood work and 2 hours of care. My bill was in excess of $1,300 after insurance was applied, and on top of that I owed an additional $300 for additional medical services per doctor (even though I only saw one person). One look through Healthcare Bluebook told me that they really take their patients and insurance partners for a ride. Despicable.
My daughter had a appointment today plus a sonogram and the glucose test. Her doctor appointment was at 12:45 she went in early to take the glucose test because she has to wait for two hours before the blood is drawn. When she went to see her Dr Jacklyn Bush the Hispanic receptionist was so disrespectful and making comments saying “I don’t know why they coming so early for?” She needs to be dealt with that is not how you speak to people and my daughter was in pain it got to the point that she didn’t stay to get the proper examination. This is poor service and if these medical assistant don’t get the training that is needed they are going to face a lot of lawsuits if something happens to a unborn child.
The beginning of my experience was as great as any trip to the hospital can be. I went to the ER due to debilitating pain in my legs and lower back and they saw me not even five minutes after I arrived. The doctors then set me up with pain meds and an IV. My trip took a turn after I was given a smaller dose of pain meds to see how I would feel and if it would be enough. It wasn’t. I took a short nap (the first bit of actual sleep I’ve had in 3 days due to the pain). During that time I was discharged without knowing. I woke up still in pain and asked the nurse if the doctor can give me the other half of my dose of pain medication just to hear her say that I have been discharged and she’ll ask the doctor. About half an hour later after asking my sister to call any nurse because I was in pain. They then sent in another nurse that took out my IV and took my blood pressure and said that I was good to go. But I was not good to go. I was still in pain. I stayed laying down to gather my strength to make the trek out the hospital when a security guard came in to usher me and my sister out. Upon noticing that it was difficult for me to move he offered to get me a wheel chair and wheel me out. Despite the kindness of the security guard my overall exit and brush off by the hospital rubbed me the wrong way especially since I went there seeking assistance and help for my pain.
I just want to say that my experience with this hospital was absolutely fantastic . From start to finish. I was in ambulatory surgery care. The nurses on staff were very kind to me. Nurse Betty was sweet and funny. All the staff was great. My recovery care was also great Nurse Linda was absolute sweetheart to me. She was very caring and attentive and made me feel at ease. Thank you all for being so kind. I dont understand the bad reviews. But i understand everyone has different experiences. 💜
I had a terrible experience in the ER! They let my IV run dry. I was there for hours without seeing anyone-nurse or Dr. my daughter had to help 2 women to the bathroom because there was no one to help them. Now I get a bill from a COLLECTION agency! I NEvER got a bill from the hospital-I have no idea if they even filed my insurance. This place is a joke! If I could leave negative stars I would!
This review is 5 years in the making. I have been so deeply traumatized by my birthing experience that I was unable to fully formulate it into words until this moment. I came to Methodist as a patient due to their affiliation with my then OB-GYN. I should have known that I was not going to have a great experience when I ended up there after severe dehydration in my 9 month of pregnancy and they refused to give any details about my condition until my them husband left the room. He was the father of my child and the doctor refused to speak until he left! Shameful. Fast forward to my actual delivery date on January 6th, 2015- I labored at home for 21 hrs specifically to avoid any suggestions of a Caesaerian. I waddled into the birthing room at 41 weeks and 6 days and NINE CM DILATED!!! Lavonne Beckwith who was the midwife assigned to me immediately began to verbally abuse my husband and I by telling us that she did not care to see our birth plan and that if we didnt want to comply with the rules of the hospital then we should have opted for a home birth. She repeatedly asked him to stand behind me and get out of the way as this wasnt about him. I was too far advanced in my labor to have any pain medication (which was also a decision that I had previously made) however, she did nothing to soothe my stress, pain or anxiety. Instead, she verbally assaulted me by yelling that I needed to open my legs wider and stop screaming because she couldnt work like this. What work was she doing?! She also continuously threatened me with a C section by asking me if I wanted to go to the OR. She was rude, nasty and unpleasant. When I escorted to my room, I was left to my own devices as a new mother where I was rarely checked on. Hours after having given birth, I struggled to use the restroom on my on and bled on the floor. The blood stayed in bathroom well into that afternoon before I had to request that it was cleaned up.I was shocked by this treatment as I had previously heard wonderful things about this facility. Methodist is a disgrace and I would not recommend it to anyone that I love or hate. Shame on you.
I went there twice there twice believe me I was in Heaven.Respecful people.Everyone greeted you with a smile.I cant find words to describe the way I was treated.I was a king there not me but every single patient there. The customer service is over a 100 %.I recommend that HOSPITAL TO EVERYONE.When youre there you want to stay there because of the treatment you get...THANK YOU,NEW-YORK PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL QUEENS FOR YOUR SERVICE!WAY TO TO GO!
Both labor and delivery nurses were dismissive, rude and seemed more busy outside the room. The morning nurse actually moved the IV I was attached to the other side of the room because it was more convenient for her, although I expressed based on the position I was most comfortable in it wouldn’t work. Terrible experience overall for a first time mom. I had a drug reaction and the overnight nurse was dismissive to the fact I’m laboring and I felt like my skin was being ripped off from the inside . She said,” well the monitor still has to stay on.” Which is understandable but how about trying to help the pain in my skin so the monitors don’t feel like hot coals. The mother baby nurses were a little better. Training needs to be done on not addressing important issues while visitors are present or asking first is it ok to discuss ABC with you now or later. I had one great nurse in post-partum. Other than that, I’ll give birth somewhere else the next time.
To start off, I don’t write public reviews. But this hospital needs one so future patients can have seconds thoughts coming in for Emergency’s. I understand paperwork has to be done for fees and Medicaid reasons etc. But that shouldn’t be the main priority. A signature should not be more important than someone health. That could wait. I was in pain and I felt very unwelcome. Nurse was pretty rude and I didn’t receive much attention. My pain was still existent after the first pills they prescribed to me. My boyfriend went and asked what’s the next step since I was in pain. the nurse who was short, and from an Asian decent was very rude and answered him with a sassy attitude. I was later taken X-rays and then told that I will be fine. But overall the staff was not well prepared. I could’ve been in a worst position and best believe things would have gotten ugly. I’m not from Brooklyn, but I know this will be my first and LAST visit from this pathetic Hospital!
An amazing team an amazing staff and amazing Hospital 3 years ago I lost my dad there my dad was fighting Heart problems because of them i am bless and Thankful they took care of him the best they care and treated him with LOVE/Care/RESPECT into the end but they did An Amazing job taken care of him into the lord was ready for him. In March i had a newborn baby come into to this world and with the care and love and respect they treated my girlfriend with care Thank you NYC Presbyterian for Caring and loving on this rough time you guys are the real heroes thank you for your sacrifice and bravery thank you so much again.
Took my mother to the hospital because she was having symptoms like a heart attack. At the ER check in the attendant was more concerned with billing information than allowing my mother to be seen by nurse. Once allowed to see the nurse my mother was rushed into the ER and contacted to the EKG 20min later the results showed she wasnt having a heart attack. At that point the hospital staff disappeared. No one came back to my mother to explain their findings of why a 70 plus young woman was having symptoms of a stroke. 4 hours later we wanted to leave as it was obvious my mother was no longer a concern to the staff. It took calling patients relations to get the results of the tests (so we could follow up with our own doctors) and get discharged . I usually dont write about my experiences but in this case im compelled to share. The total lack of compassion for patients who are in distress was to much for me to bare. The fact that it was happening to my mother. Well Methodist hospital you got my attention. As a person who believes health care is a calling and not a paycheck. Im holding Methodist hospital suspect. Why do you open your doors every day. Is it for the honor and sacred duty of health care or more likely for the money. If its for the money your service sucks. If youre in need of medical attention and you want answers to your medical questions Methodist hospital isnt for you. Park slope we can do better for our community we should demand better or we should find others who can serve the community better . something to think about dont wait till youre in need before critiquing the services in your community. It could mean the difference between life and death.
Labor and delivery on the forth floor .Professional، patient, considerate , and thoughtful. The nurses pay attention to fine details . The pediatrician who spoke to my daughter about her fears of Vitamin K shot, compromised and provided her with vitamin K drops. If I can give them 10 stars I would. This hospital is the best
Staff has bed side manners. Very attentive and caring. Unlike kings county staff, they didnt give me Tylenol and send me home after a 5 hour wait. They actually took blood. Xray and gave me the right medication for my diagnosis. I had my daughter here. Its good to know the ER is just as nice.
One of the worst hospitals to take someone. You rather die in pain at home than go there. Went there at 11:30am they said they admit at 2 pm to observe for the night no bed until 10pm no doctors or nurse come to check. Restrooms are not clean. I will never bring anyone or come myself at this hospital. They take insurance and signature on time but your healthcare is not done on time. So far what I understand about this hospital is that they don’t have money to run the hospital so they are admitting patients so they could take out money from the insurance. There is no one to answer your questions. We hear all these hospitals in news about different country where they want money so they make up stuff well Brooklyn has one now.
On 4/23 I accompanied my husband to Methodist hospital Emergency room due to he had severe abdominal pain. We arrived at 3pm he was seen at the Rapid unit and was asked to provide urine then 5 minutes later we went to triage I tried to give the nurse there the urine sample she told me to hold on to it the nurse in the back would take it. He was assigned to bed 12A at 3:15 I inquired about someone collecting his urine they said to give them a minute. It wasn’t until 3:56 a nurse finally collected his urine still at this point not a nurse or physician came to see him while he was in the fetal position rocking back and forth from the pain. They could have been running his urine or sending him to get an x-ray to see if it’s his appendix which if it were to rupture it could be deadly. At 4:15pm they finally put an IV and took blood and gave him IV Motrin for the pain and at 4:35 DR Wang came to see him and said it’s possibly a kidney stone. There was another man there bleeding all over the place with previous stitches who mentioned to me he had been there for two hours and no one has attended to him. I’ve never been to a hospital where the patient or patients wife has to hold on to the urine sample for almost an hour as well as the patient is unattended to for that long. They have four beds in each pod instead of two like I have seen in previous hospital emergency rooms. Their staff looks very laid back. They also have time to joke around but not enough time to attend to the patients?. There was also an EMT by the name Anthony making unprofessional comments to one of the nurses about a homeless patient he had brought in, he was saying how the guy was kicking up a storm and she had asked him if he kicked him he was like do you think he would be here right now if he did. I was truly appalled by this emergency department, that was the first and the last time we will ever go there. One last thing I also contacted patient relations at their off hour number and the representative said she would speak to her supervisor and someone would get back to me. No one called me back regarding my complaint. They need to joke less and stop being so laid back and be more proactive. They have too many beds not enough nurses looks like all they care about is the money they can make instead of providing decent health care to those who really need it. I dont recommend this place at all.
Very poorly run hospital. Ive been to many hospitals but Ive never experienced such an overbooked money-milking machine with no respect towards the patients. Two weeks ago, I had an appointment at 9:30am with a hematologist. I arrived on time to be done with all the paperwork. At 10am I told the staff that I have to see a client at 1am, so I could not be late. Each time I was told the same answer dont worry, youre next. I had to wait for almost three hours to first see a medical intern who had a nerve to tell me Ill have to wait more for an actual doctor. I wrapped it up, took my referral and run away. NEVER AGAIN!
Awesome hospital from the moment I found our I was having surgery. Receptionist called to make sure & had everything I needed for pre- surgical testing.Surgery was done on Thurs & recovery attendees especially Jessica was great. My three days on the 7 South floor...Amazing!!Staff was excellent & helped eased all my worries. From Nurse Wen, Andrew & Cara. Martha was very helpful as well. You made my stay wonderful & if by chance I ever have to stay @ an hospital..Methodist hands down😁😁
This is literally the worst medical institution Ive ever been to. Every person there is rude and unhelpful (although if you can actually get in to see a doctor, one or two of them are ok). The people at the front desk default to completely rude and mean, regardless of how nice folks who come in are. Calling into the office, I have been put on hold forever, just so that they could get out of answering my question.I was set to have a follow up call with a doctor via some FaceTime-like app, and I had to talk to 3 different people to get it set up, and then when it was time for the virtual appointment, the doctor didnt even show up. I waited for 45 minutes past the appointment time, but he never showed up, and then I was never contacted to make up the virtual appointment where I was supposed to get results.Every time I visit it take 2-3 times as long as it is supposed to. Their follow through is horrendous, and they truly dont care if you get the information or healthcare results that you are seeking when you come in. Do everything you can to avoid visiting this hospital.
This hospital needs to work on functioning better... I understand an emergency department can be under staffed or overwhelmed with patients but they need to work on prioritizing. After waiting 4 hrs a shift change occurs, no one tells us... We then wait an additional 2hrs before meeting a nurse and still havent been seen by a doctor. Being here with my sister with sickle cell, she should not have to wait all this time just for her to be seen. This is unacceptableHopefully we are seen soon!!!!
Would give them a zero but then I would not be able to submit a review. They did not take my mother out of the bed for the 10-day stay and said she couldnt sit up in a whee;chair. They NEVER asked me if she could, which she could and had been daily at home, on small trips to the beach, and around the neighborhood. Kept lying to me and would not discharge her as they ran up her Medicare bill for almost an extra as I watched my mom deteriorate daily because they did NOTHING to keep her moving. Finally called Medicare, Ombudsman, etc. Patient Relations helped me but everyone else lied to protect the doctor. This used to be a good hospital, but I will NEVER take my mom there again.
My wife and I just had our first child here. While the actual birthing experience was incredible, it was also the only part of our hospital stay that used non-Methodist practitioners. Our recovery time at the hospital was truly hideous. We received different medical advice from every different staff there, which only enhanced the anxiety of dealing with becoming a parent and caring for a newborn. Clearly, some of the staff had to be offering inappropriate medical care, since they often directly contradicted each other. For instance, we were told to never use A & D ointment on our baby by one nurse, and told to use it everywhere by another. This was just the tip of the iceberg. It often took hours to do what seemed like simple tasks - having a pediatrician look at a high concentration wet diaper, for instance. We also came to learn later that some of the medical advice that the staff WAS aligned on was arcane and harmful. Apparently, it was discovered 25 years ago that using alcohol on an umbilical cord slows the healing process, and has not been recommended as a standard of care for more than two decades! I can only imagine what else we were told or how else we were treated that is not up to the contemporary medical standards. We also had a general lack of information from administrative staff that led to excessive wasted time needlessly wading through government and hospital bureaucracy dealing with her birth certificate. I was elated and relieved when we were finally discharged and could get out of that insane hamster wheel.
My son felt out with stroller on the tile floor and was bleeding with his head. He had hole in his head. I called 911 and they derived me to Brookdale Hospital. Because they do not give my baby any water since 45 minutes, everything was so slowly while my baby is still bleeding. I decided to take a lyft and drive to New York -Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The best choice what I ever did. The nurses and doctors are very nice, professional. They gave my 17 months old a apple juice and cookies in a few minutes. I told a doctor he was not eat today a lot and he be won’t vomit because his stomach is empty.
I was a volunteer on six minor at this hospital during my junior year in high school. Overall, I liked my experience. The nurses were friendly to me and very helpful. The patients were also grateful for having volunteers around, as we provided them with attention and care. I didnt get to interact too much with the doctors on my floor; they were too busy and werent really approachable in my position. If anyone in highschool/college is interested in pursuing a career in medicine, I highly recommend volunteering here.
Horrific disorganization. Staff tries hard but administration is such a mess. For a woman in labor crying in pain, I had to actively go and fetch the anesthesiologist after 2 hours of waiting. On top of that, we PAID our bill the day it was due which is now in collections, impacting our credit. On top of that ,additional bills were NEVER sent to us, went right to collections. We had the money ready to go to pay for it , and still got dinged. Dont go here, its a disaster. This used to be the best hospital in Brooklyn. Its the business end of a colon now.
This is my go-to hospital, and it has the best doctors and staff, the best available equipment, the best food, and many more bests. Ive been coming to Methodist hospital since 1994. Ive found that the best hospital in Brooklyn always continues to constantly improve upon itself.
The staff, all the staff are courteous. A plus in good health care. Patients are attendef to immediately. The facility is clean. The cubicles are clean, the rooms are clean. The level of care is superior to any I have received at other hospitals. This hospital is my first choice.
I came to this hospital about three years ago with my mom, When I sign my mom name, after about few minute, called her name. However, while I am writing this comment from inside the hospital, feeling so much angry, I brought my sister this time, I’ve been waiting for more than one hour waiting for a bed for her, she breath hardly and she feel more pain while the time is passing, her heart is hurting more and more. I went inside to tell them that she is getting more sick even when she is the hospital. I am wondering, what if something happen or the hospital will be more busy than usual, what is going to happen with the patients, how they’re will react while they the cannot afford a bed on a time which is not busy, or not so much patients. The emergency room haven’t changed since a long time, they still have the same amount of bed, small as if people are not increasing. This is bad, really really bad.In the end, do not believe the news when it said according to US some news that this hospital consider one of the top 10 hospitals on USA.Liars, I believe the best hospital are the most hospitals who makes money and pay so much money to the news therefor they get more customers, i will not say patients at this time for what I am seeing right now.So much carless.I remember one thing, when I came, a pregnant lady came, and she about to give birth, she was like crying and holding so hard. And the staff came to my sister and give the sticker, I was like, she is given a birth, you should help her first or do something. A guy came with wheelchair, and not helping the lady to sit on the wheelchair.Hhhh finally they found a bed. I want to to write, maybe next year and hopefully not forever. When they found a bed for my sister, I found three empty beside the one she’s sitting on.
Worst ER I have ever came across in my life. It is unbelievable that a hospital would be this unorganized. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. If you are dying or close to death then this would be the last official choice. Came in at 11pm to the ER with my father due to chest pains. Stayed up all night, had three different people come in asking the same questions and doing the same procedure. Literally was in the ER for more than 12 hrs just for these people to decide what has to be done. When one of the nurses or medical students came in saying they will be back. Oh yeah they will be back....AFTER 4 HOURS! Its really upsetting because the Doctors are great here and the specialists affiliated with this hospital have great ratings. But if the ER is going to be this way, i rather diagnose my sickness through google. You get my point.
Very disrespectful and dishonest staff. Avoid at all costs. Most of the positive reviews are from the staff. Oh did I mention that theyre extremely money hungry? Visits last hours with staff sitting around doing nothing simply to charge the insurance companies. And they get mad when called out on it because their fragile egos cant handle the truth. That is what we call big business. Bring back staff that ACTUALLY care about patients.
I am here now and my husband was admitted by ambulance. He has congestive heart failure. Waiting more than 2 hours to be brought up to his room. I have never seen an E. D. like this. Nurses make no eye contact, no smiles. The privacy issue is totally non existent. They talk about paitient issues , don’t close curtains. Other patients are left in the hall. It is the last time I would ever come here.
God awful. You never get an answer when you call. I made a neurologist appointment 6 MONTHS in advance cause that was their earliest appointment. I called the day before, after calling about 10 times over the course of 5 hours, I finally got through and spoke to a man who assured me that my appointment was in fact the next day and even though I had changed insurance I would still be seen. Got to the appointment and was told my insurance wouldnt be taken. Receptionist told me to call my insurance when I asked what I should do now? She was very rude and offered no help and told me they didnt have my call the day before on her record? I asked who gave me the false information and she had no answer. Wont be going back to the clinic.
Elizabeth at SOUTH 7 was amazing. Took great care of everyone , including my mother. Didnt get a chance to say good bye as she was discharged on a Sunday. Thank you so much Elizabeth! Was a decent hospital with very nice nurses. Food could be better but its a hospital, you cant expect much.
Hospital has gone to hell under the new administration. Prior this used to be an example hospital but now I seriously think that Brookdale itself would’ve provided better service.8 hours and doctor not assigned, 6 complaints of unbearable pain, ran through about 5 divers and no attention whatsoever. Finally I decided to discharge myself and send everyone to where they belong.4 others nearby decided to discharge themselves, especially after the person next to me sat and coughed blood while not being able to breathe for 3 hours and received no attention.
I was born in this dog mess dungeon were suppose to call a Hospital. My girl was admitted into this hospital for 2 weeks high on morphine until we decided to take her to Mt. Sinai in the city where she was helped & cared for the 1st night she got admitted. Methodist didnt help at all & was only making the situation worst. Mt. Sinai detected the problem & reversed it instantly. Methodist is definitely one of the worst hospitals in Brooklyn, NY.
I am currently at the Medical Pavilion where bloodwork is taken. I am shocked, disappointed, and disturbed by the blatant disregard of face mask/covering of staff waiting to punch into work. I even asked a staff (wearing scrubs) in a calm and kind manner to please follow through with the face mask/covering rule, and was dismissed. The guard sat by doing nothing. Please DO BETTER. You are a hospital, and should be held to the most extreme of standards. You are falling so short. It could be some bad apples; however, they really leave a lasting impression.
Do not take your kids here. The pediatric department is the worst, they didn’t seem to know what they’re doing. I sat, and waited for almost 2hrs for a doctor to tell me that my daughter seem healthy. Wait what? My daughter had a fever of 103, I gave her some fever reducer before I got there, but oviously she still have a slight fever and she’s dehydrated!!! Never again!!!! I don’t know about the adult section, but as for pediatric, run for your child/children life!!! Worst than Brookdale! This hospital doesn’t deserve a star! Horrible!
One of the worst experiences....Waited 7 hrs just to be seen by someone in the labor and delivery department! Once I was seen by triage I then had to wait an additional 5 hours to get a bed. Once admitted 2-3 hrs would go by without a nurse or dr to come check on me. All this while being a high risk pregnancy. I will NEVER come back, and wouldn’t suggest it to anyone!!
A poorly run ER department managed by absent minded nurses, nursing assistants and unprofessional doctors. My mom got admitted back on Feb 15th, it took over 36 hours to get her admitted to the hospital. The nurses tends to ignore their patients unless you keep them honest and the doctors always get distracted. The medical staff promise to send meds to the pharmacy. They never did. And the home health aide agency they coordinate with are incompetent.Avoid Brooklyn Methodist if you can help it.
I thought the staff at the hospital were very nice and helpful. I have been here several times in the past with my parents. On the last visit, the nurses were very helpful and accommodating. Upstairs my father was put on an overflow floor, which was a shabby room but the medical staff was very helpful.
Staffs from starting entry all the way to emergency room are super friendly, excellent/superb services. Methodist Hospitals reputation is impeccable for their professionalism, friendliness, and integrity. Nurses & doctors make us feel as if we are their family. On behalf of my wife, son, & daughter thank you to Methodist Hospital that its our honor to be your patients (Wendy Wong, Ivan Lam, Ivanka Lam, respectively). In addition, thank you to pediatric team on third floor, especially Dr. Brian attempted to accommodate my son with the Wii system while Ivan is being treated with his prolonged fever; thank you nurse Kitty’s & Melanie’s services treated my 10 year-old son as if he were their nephew; thank you to nurse Anthonia, Ibukan, Christine Gong, & Donnika for their hospitality.Thank you to Susan for supporting my son & clarified his concern before entering the Operation Room; there is also therapy dog, Carrot, for post surgery to comfort my son. Most importantly, sincerely thank you to all the doctors who have worked vigorously to improve my son’s health. This “DREAM TEAM” at Methodist Hospital is superb for their services, Diagnostics, experiences, treatments, & professionalism. This is where amazing things are happening! The Ace List keeps adding names of excellence services and listen to my concerns about my son’s unknown fever origin. I know that I am an annoyed person if assumed. I can become annoying when it comes to my son’s fever. Despite the fact that you can check Ivan’s temperature 15-30 minutes ago, but once my son’s starts lose energy and feel tired, especially if he were shivering, his temperature would quickly spikes above 101. There were three people who doubted me and gave me attitude whenever I requested to check my son’s temperature. Each time I requested, I hoped that I am wrong about his fever. However, 8 out of 10 times I was correct and his fever was above 101 and three incidents he had 104 fever. I do not want to be correct and I am not a doctor or nurse, but as a dad and have been by his side since May 18, I know his symptoms and conditions.I truly appreciate nurse Margarita, Patsy, Annie, Samantha, Daniela, Sahray, Cynthia, Taj, & Tiffany who would listen to my concerns and quickly check his temperature. And thank you nurses who have had experiences with my son’s condition and inform other nurses about him before they change shift. There are so many names to mentions, but cannot remember. The entire 3rd floor pediatric team makes me feel as if we are their family member, and I feel as if the entire hospital gives exclusive attention to my son. And thank you to medical housekeepers who helped keep our room clean.
A close friend was admitted to this hospital and received the absolutely best treatment from both the medical and the administrative staff while she was there. I must take this opportunity to say a special thank you on behalf of my friend and her family for the care and concern expressed by Dr. Ilyas. Her bedside manner was exemplary, as she displayed a high level of professionalism combined with genuine emotional support for her patients as well as their family members.
Shame on you Methodist! Discharged me after 24/hrs of labor after I told them my son could not breath .. ended up taking him to brookdayle the very next day and he’s been in icu ever since , finnally being discharged after 7days ! Worst labor btw the lady did not know how to use a epidural I felt like I gave natural birth it did nothing to me and yes I had 3 other ones before so I can say THE WORST EXPERIENCE! Shame on you almost had a lawsuit coming your way
I am an internal medicine physician. I brought my mother here after she had a stroke. The day after, in the ICU, her heart monitors went off. Everyone responded to her rapid and altered heartbeat. Everyone learned about heart rhythms that day and they learned why she had the stroke. The treatment was to start her on blood thinners to prevent her heart from making clots that would cause another stroke. I assumed they did this. Several days later after being transferred to a regular floor the cardiologist came to do a consult. I happened to ask if mom’s heart rhythm was back to normal or if she still had a-fib. They didn’t know she had ever had an arrthymia. After learning I was a physician they wanted to know what day it occurred and came back to ask what time. Finally they found the rhythm strips and 4 EKG’s and placed her on proper meds. I wish that were the end of the debacle. A few days later she was coughing blood. I waited in the morning to tell her treating physician who promised to take care of it. I reminded him she had fluid in the base of her lungs at admission and was also on blood thinners, maybe she should have another X-ray. As the days progressed, mom’s difficulty in rehab was limited by shortness of breath and pain. They put her on oxygen. I was noticing more and more blood daily in the clear bag they gave her to spit in and that she kept by her face. We asked and were allowed to attend the team meeting to discuss her progress. I told them I was concerned about the worsening thick bloody sputum in light of the shortness of breath and her blood thinners. Someone in the team said they hadn’t seen any blood. The attending ordered cultures and X-ray. Finally the blood that I saw everyday was visible to the treating team. Mom was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Still not done with debacles. Mom was also prescribed ear drops to dissolve wax in her ear. Unfortunately someone instilled it in her eye. We learned about this when mom told us about the painful eye drops put in her left eye. Mom was not prescribed any eye drops. Finally there was also an event where mom told us she did not get an injection that was prescribed. I asked the staff about this and they informed me she did in fact get it because it was documented. When I told mom she was mistaken she became quite upset insisting she did not. She insisted on seeing the nurse who also informed her she had gotten it. Honestly, I believed my mother was mistaken until the nurse came in the morning and said it was not given. It had been documented as given because there was an expectation to give it.Given the above you might be inclined to dismiss the rest of this. I met some of the nicest healthcare professionals here. I can honestly say the stafff took time to know my mom and treated her kindly and with respect. I liked them all. Unfortunately I didn’t trust them. I hope they can remedy these things but I would not bring any sick person here and comfortably trust they’d get the proper care.
I was suppose to deliver at maimodese went there n had to wait 3 hours to be seen n then was told they have no beds so I decided to go another hospital had my baby here it was great the staff were great the nurse except for one of the night nurses … the one night nurse just had a nasty attitude
Picture this scenario happening TWICE in the same hospital for in a 30 day timeframe: Ambulatory Care surgery schedules you for 9:30 AM, & according to their policy you have to arrive TWO hours early (7:30 arrival time) you must come in fasted obviously. And then at 11 AM you run in to the doctor (yes I ran into him, he was not actively looking for me to keep me updated because the nurses were not providing answers to the delay) and then he tells you that the machine that is needed for my surgery is not at the hospital. Yes you read that right, they called me the day before to confirm a surgery when the equipment was not even on site. I understand that situations arise, but TWICE? Come on. So the doctor tells me, that Im next door the procedure at 11:30. Guess what? I didnt even get called into the O.R. until 2 PM. Yup, I didnt complaint until 1:00 PM when I already had an 8/10 headache. So procedure finally over, get discharged from Ambulatory Care in a rush, I felt as in a restaurant when theyre trying to get customers out to clear tables. Ask to speak to the doctor about the pressure: they say to me (verbatim): doctors dont come out unless something went bad, so I guess everything went ok. Thank you nurse for your guess, I hope youre right, but can you please at least call my doctor to ask him? In summary: the staff is really good but my likely hood to recommend this hospital is ZERO. Yes I would give them zero, actually I can give them 2 zeros because it felt like Deja Vu the second time that it happened twice within a 30 day period
Worst hospital ever. I waited with my mother who was in a lot of pain for almost three hours and I asked the ladies at the desk twice when we were going to be seen and they said I need to be patient and wait to be called. As soon as my mother and I got up to walk out of there to go to another hospital they called her name. It took me to tell them we were leaving to be seen. That’s nonsense and not how a hospital should work. I’m aware of what goes on in the emergency room and how it can get busy but when I see people getting called before us that arrived AFTER us, that is just very unfair. We were here for a total of six hours. Not a very functional place to go to for an emergency.
I suggest another hospitalTwice have checked in emergency and been forgotten after admitting. 1st time. 14hrs in hallway ( with 6 others) no food, no water, no vitals taken, no meds given. As a type 1 diabetic had i not had my blood test kit and food i would have been in coma or worse. ( No nurses or call buttons in hallway). 87yr old man , still sharp, begging to be unhooked from stretcher iv to go to bathroom, finally urinated on self.Used to be great hospital but now the real estate is more valuable to ny pres. You take life in hands
My father has been admitted to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital twice in the past month and a half. Being a nurse myself, I must say that the care was excellent in the emergency department and on Infil 7 unit. I deeply appreciate the effort, the care, the dedication and professionalism of every single staff member at Methodist I understand that people may have different experiences and different circumstances. I also understand that staffing shortages impact the delivery of optimal care to patients. However, the amazing dedication of the staff makes up for these shortcomings. I give the ED department and Infil 7 ten stars.
I just spoke to the administrator and she is going to work in this. I was shocked and happy to see that someone there actually cares. So from 1 star to 3.Previous postTheir high risk ob gyn clinic is horrible. Its hard to get an appointment. They only have 2 doctors and they are overwhelmed with patients. I havent been able to see a doctor for 2 months because they are so booked. You cant even get a doctor on the phone. I ask the nurse to have a script sent for me she said ok but they never did. Horrible ob gyn clinic flow. The people are nice but thier system is not good if you really are high risk. As of now I am waiting to speak with the clinics administrator. If no change im just going to have to find another clinic
This is one of the worst and most disgusting hospital I ever seen in my entire life the nurse has a very nasty attitude the doctor was sitting on their phone while the patient was screaming it’s my first time saying this, this hospital needs to shut down completely the entire staff has a nasty attitude the place is filthy I kept my pee up because the bathroom was so dirty and disgusting please don’t not go there or let you love one do. None of the staff was nice at all I have never seen this in my entire life.

2021-12-17The first part is about my experience in the waiting room only. That part is 1 star. The actual service I received when I was finally brought back to the emergency department 4 hours later was superb and 5 stars, so I averaged it.Part 1:I was sent here by Urgent Care for emergent care and Ive been sitting in a hallway for hours without a single name having been called. The woman who was checking me in, loudly declared that she will never work another midnight shift again in the midst of scanning my id in. Someone else said that tonight was their final night working here. None of the patients waiting are wearing masks. If I do have a blood clot, I am pretty sure Im not supposed to be sitting upright in a chair all night. If you need immediate emergency treatment with any sense of time urgency, this is not the place to go, unless maybe you arrive by ambulance.Part 2:Once I was finally brought to the Emergency Department, my experience turned around completely. The doctors were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, thorough, and most importantly, FAST. They had me scanned by ultrasound for a blood clot and released once it was negative within 90 minutes. Everyone in the back was friendly and working extremely hard, and honestly they deserve 5 stars. Hopefully my experience will help someone.

2022-02-11Worst hospital experience to date. We’ve been here before and it’s changed for the worse. All waiting areas are closed off because visitors/visiting hours are suspended. Suspended, why? It’s not height of pandemic or even first wave of COVID. Extremely rude staff, beginning with guards who did a itsy bitsy tiny favor by letting visitors stand in hallway and then let them use chapel to wait for a few hours. Then, all visitors were kicked to the curb to wait outside. After a few arguments and begging to see patient in ER in distress, and who was bleeding nonstop without being seen over 2 hours they let me see patient as a COURTESY for 5 minutes. Forget about doctors who are super duper busy and don’t think that active and continuous bleeding is an issue unless it’s bleeding profusely. So, yeah, you can just bleed out right there in ER. The only thing that saved this experience from being absolutely horrendous were very caring and affectionate nursing staff. They went above and beyond for patient comfort, but it wasn’t enough for an overall experience.

2022-02-22I have two reviews up here because I guess it depends on the time you go to this hospital. My second time going was around noon and the experience was so much better! The nurses were friendly and the doctor was knowledgeable. Thank you so much for taking care of me!

2022-01-21I was seen last night in the emergency room and was happy with my experience until two of your male nurses made fun of me because of my weight. They pointed at me and cracked jokes to the other nurses who also laughed. I was there to get seen not to be treated like a side show freak. I didnt get their names but I can say one of them was bald white man and the other had his hair up in a bun. I was really upset. I think they need a bit of sensitivity training. If I need to go to the hospital again I wont go there.

2022-05-14This shouldn’t be called a hospital it should be called an underdeveloped medical center,Living in the same neighborhood as it I have seen first hand for 20 years how pathetically low the standard of care is and felt a need to tell the world. Me and people I have known and loved have gone to this hospital and been treated incorrectly / given incorrect scripts/ and seen filthy conditions. If you are at all conscious and in an ambulance demand to go to another hospital - if you are conscious and reading this you now know better - go to NYU Langone thank god they moved nearby.

2022-04-19Following a relatively small accident (surgery on the nose following a fall), I was admitted very quickly at emergency, then got quick surgery with patches applied with great care. I was a little bit anxious to keep scar afterwards, but thanks to perfect patches, everything is now as it nothing happened. Thanks for great service, attention and post surgery follow-up.

2022-05-24Terrible experience. NOT safe for trans or non binary patients. I was constantly misgendered and given nasty looks by staff. Security was extremely rude to my partner and I. I waited five hours just to be given cough medicine and antacids that did literally nothing. Nobody bothered to listen to my lungs or give me a nebulizer. Had my partner not been their advocating on my behalf it may have been far worse. I refuse to pay the bill. If anything I should probably sue but I dont have the time or money for that. Do better!

2022-03-22If there were a hundred stars, I think I would give a hundred, five to NYP, and ninety-five to the nurse Nidya. This morning at 8 oclock, I have a heart surgery. Nidya was taking good care of me before and after the surgery. She knew my English was not good enough and she tried her best to chat with me in Mandarin. During these hours, she came to see me couple times even I have nothing to ask. She is really humour and nice person. She knew my wound was so painful, but she still keep patient to hlep me move when it was time for me to move. She is the most beautiful nurse Ive ever met in the hospital (yes, shes wearing a mask but I still thinking like this). The rest of the doctors and nurses are also very good. I like everyone here. I am very happy to meet such a warm-hearted group of people here. Of course, it would be better if I meet them in the other good place (just not in hospital please)

2021-12-31My 80 year old father went to the emergency room at the Park Slope NY Presbyterian Hospital yesterday and had the worst experience. First of all, he just tested covid positive. He let them know when he arrived and they did not segregate him from the rest of the waiting room. Secondly, he went there because he was having severe gastric pain. He arrived at 1 pm and was seen around 6 pm - and this is NOT what I’m complaining about as I understand that covid cases are really high right now and they were busy. However when the doctor finally saw him he was diagnosed with possible diverticulitis and a test was ordered. He waited in his shared ER room until right before midnight, when a nurse finally came in and told him “he had to get out by midnight.” And she promptly kicked him out. A sick, 80 year old man, and no one made sure he knew how to get home or anything!! To me this is reprehensible. He luckily did know how to get home and was ok but he’s vowed never to go back and I would suggest no one else do so either!

2022-03-11My brother died last week from sepsis-associated cardiac arrest as a result of multiple severe wound infections (pressure ulcers/ bedsores) that he developed while hospitalized. Before he died, our cries fell on def ears. This is not the first time, my first born went into fetal distress and I almost lost my first born eleven years ago because of prolonged induced labor and delivery during an arrested labor. In addition to prolonging labor and delivery, they brought on the contractions too strong, too fast which in turn affected my sons oxygen and heart rate. My son has dealt with complications since. This hospital now finished the job with my brother and we have endured substantial trauma. I would not recommend this hospital, zero stars if possible. Please go elsewhere, consider looking into another hospital that is not overcapacity, listens to patients and families, takes prompt action and provider exceptional quality healthcare as well as continuity of care as I believe that this is not something you will find here.Goodluck!
