After trying great food in Thailand, I went on a shopping spree here when I got back. GREAT STORE, GREAT STAFF !!! Someone commented its difficult to shop here due to the language barrier, NOPE, I just pull up pictures on my phone of things I need and they show me right were it is. I love it here.
This supermarket has huge selection of Asian food and cooking utensils. It carries Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Malaysian food, spice, source, rice, snacks, and kitchen tools ranging from home use hot-pot sets to frying pan big enough for restaurant kitchen use.The out look of the place is not that inviting, entrance is at the back of the building, not facing the street. But its Asian collections of food and utensils will amaze you!
Fantastic place to grab tea(more varieties than anywhere else), rice(ever had black or red rice?), and other imports straight from China. I discovered Pu-erh tea here and always enjoy a quick browse through or a slower walk through to explore new vegetables and items not available in the US.Highly recommended!!
Decent asian supermarket. They have a separate section for Asian trinkets and other cultural items that may be hard to find in Buffalo. (incense, hell money.. etc). They also have a decent selection of Chinese veggies and they also carry buns from Chinese bakeries that apparently gets shipped up here from NYC.They also have a lot of frozen meat products in many fridges though Im not sure how long those have been there for. They also have fish tanks if you want freshly caught fish for dinner.
I actually really love that this place is a bit unorganized and is essentially a hole-in-the-wall location. The door is in the rear of the building and the parking lot is an absolute mess of potholes. BUT. It gives this place character. I’m a devout student of Asian studies and having this little location locally that not a lot of Buffalo people of any nationality know about is so nice. There’s certainly nicer places in NYC, but quite a few there are just like Ni Hoowa and they’re still really wonderful. Tons and tons of candy from all different Asian countries — my go-to for Japanese kit-kats since it takes a while to deliver on Amazon. If you’re looking for produce and perishable items, definitely just ask when they get their shipments — they’re so kind here. And if you need something urgently and don’t feel confident in what they’ve got on stock, Wegmans isn’t a far drive! All in all, absolutely love it here.
I have been going to this store for 14 years and they have always had an unimaginable amount of variety for whatever I was looking for and beyond, fresh produce and products from many countries, at prices lower than I could get anywhere else. The owners and staff have always been fully helpful and courteous. I highly recommend to anyone!
Got most of the Chinese things I look for that dont stock anywhere else. Its not big like large cities but will have most things Asian you would need. The rose tea they stock is great and they have all the rice crackers and roasted/seasoned sunflower seeds one could want. I go there regularly for groceries where nowhere else has what I need.
This store is a hidden gem in Amherst, lots of authentic eastern cuisine ingredients, aisan restaurant supplies, dishes (dinner ware), all at reasonable prices. -1 star because it can stink in there, and the staff isnt always super friendly if you dont speak Mandarin or something.
Blown away by how huge the store was, they had everything under the sun at reasonable prices. Very clean and everything seemed fresh. Because its so large it might take some getting used to in order to find things easily, but for me thats kind of the fun of it. Cant wait to go back.
The supermarket is pretty small and, overall, dirty. Food selection is ok Buffalo-wise, but I suspect that some products may be expired. The workers are always kind of rude when I check out. Keep in mind that the store only excepts credit cards for purchases over $20.00.
Reasonable selection of fresh and packaged foods, vegetables, good selection of dumplings, lots of cook ware, some Korean food ( but I dont know enough to reasonably comment). Watercress, fresh mushrooms, edos, bamboo shoots in fridge and canned, toppings for congee, etc
The layout is a bit confusing as its organized by country/culture. This shop is huge and has items from most major Asian cultures: China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and probably others. The tea, dumpling, ramen, sauce, and candy sections are epic. There are also household items in the back.
I am not Chinese so I cant speak well to details of the place, but I thought stuff was reasonably priced, clean, and the staff was nice so no complaints. Loved the ice cream mochi flavors I got there, best Ive had outside a restaurant and will be returning more of for those.
This Chinese grocery has EVERYTHING you need. From Sichuan pepper flowers to dried wood ear mushrooms to every paste and sauce to cooking utensils (family to banquet size) to random spices and fresh Asian veggies and live seafood (crabs, mostly), to frozen meats and prepared foods, this is where you want to shop.
Half of the items on the shelves were expired. Crowded aisles, weird smell, could use a makeover. The building itself is backwards, entrance is in the back, parking lot could use new pavement. If Whole Foods wasnt next door Im not sure I would have gone in. On the plus side I was given (3) three $2 gift cards.

2021-08-13Run down exterior but has a great selection. Very fun to browse. Entrance is around back, not directly off Sheridan. Only place in Amherst I could find Thai basil (at a great price too!)

2021-04-01Upkeep wise this place is pretty dumpy, however they have absolutely everything you could possibly want. They had all my favorite snacks from Beijing my wifes favorite treats from Taiwan. Theyre frozen food selection was ginormous. we will definitely be driving back here again to get all of our Asian food fixes in the future.

2021-08-12Great place with lots of hard to find favorites. Dont let the outside fool you, this place is a local treasure. They also have the BEST prices Ive found in the area. Stuff like canned bubble tea, kasugai gummies, soba, glass noodles, taro~ etc, all the good stuff I got hooked on during my time visiting overseas.Unrelated/only tangentially related, but helpful tip: If youve never tried seirogan for upset stomach, you owe it to yourself to get some AND they usually have it in stock here.

2021-02-14This is a mostly Chinese market but they still have things from other countries. They have fresh vegetables, frozen meats, andamyamy other things. They even have a large cookware section and an area full of dishes .

2018-12-27Ive lived very close to this location but only recently discovered this gem. If you are driving down Sheridan Drive, it looks closed. Nope! If you go in the back entrance, you will find a large and diverse market! I always end up buying quite a bit impulsively, but fortunately most items are quite affordable. Its always fun going shopping with my daughter and trying different foods.

2018-06-13This place has a lot of cool and unique foods, and better versions of stuff you can get in the international section of other grocery stores. New shoppers will probably have trouble with the signage and packaging because not everything is in English. The building looks a little old and ugly. Be careful in the parking lot, its practically a bombing range.

2011-11-02Usually I get everything what I need for Asian recipes here. Its a very good market. Yes, its not supermarket like other big cities, but sure its a neat little local business.Previously, whenever I use to go there was always a language problem in this store, but now they have 1-2 co-workers who understands English very well. So, if you are trying to find something, they will easily guide you.
