We came up to spend Thanksgiving weekend visiting Niagara Falls and the location of this hotel is great! The rooms were spacious and clean and there was a very nice fireplace to keep the room warm. Best of all, this hotel is pet friendly and I was able to bring my corgi along on the trip. Anna, who was working at the front desk the night we arrived, was very kind and accommodating. She even typed up a list of recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. Additionally, I got a wonderful massage at their spa, which was very relaxing. We will most certainly be back!
Lovely little place with a great view of the river. Walking distance to a lot of great little local shops, restaurants and bakeries! They have a spa where we got the royal couples package and it was great! My only downside is you can hear everything...every stop above you and people talking from their rooms so not great for really light sleepers.
My wife and I just had our wedding reception at Niagara Crossing this past Saturday! We originally booked it all the way back in December 19 for a 2020 wedding. Suffice to say, plans changed and they were very accommodating. We had about 150 guests and the event space fit that number perfectly. The food was excellent, and we very much enjoyed our dinners. Bar service was prompt and professional. To my knowledge nobody had any problems with staff or rooms. We stayed in a large room with a king sized bed on the 4th floor with a patio. The bathroom was spacious and gorgeous which my wife found helpful. I saw several of the other rooms that my guests stayed in and they were well furnished and clean. Kendelle was very easy to work with and with just the space and service they provided our guests had a blast! Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a unique wedding space that isnt a wedding factory.
Older hotel, but quite pretty and still had all the amenities. Sounds travel easily through doors from the hallway. Clean with a comfy bed and walking distance to Center street where all the restaurants/shops are. View from our room at the front of the hotel of the Niagara River is pretty. Lots of warm weather things closed during the winter, but still enjoyed our stay. Only thing that was not worth it was the massage. $100 for a massage so superficial I felt more stressed waiting for them to actually do something (Ive had swedish massage before from a professional that was actually relaxing and did something for my muscles). Maybe try deep tissue? But that is even more expensive.
Positive: Hotel is a gem in a picturesque Niagara riverside location. They just got new carpeting so everything smells fresh and clean throughout. Negative: Upon entering my room, I noticed a musty smell. Before I checked out, I discovered that it was coming from moisture as evidenced by the mold spots that were on the sheer window curtains. I should have asked to be moved to a different room.
Very big spacious rooms. Lovely hotel. Easy walk to jet boat rides. But there was a hole in the shower. We told them so they wouldnt get water damage. There was a big nasty stain in the carpet but the worse part was we were there 3 nights and 2 and a half days with no housekeeping. We had to go get towels twice and toilet paper. Our trash was overflowing.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. My brothers and sister in law got married this past weekend, kendal and Chris were FANTASTIC!! not one thing went wrong, there were 180 people at the wedding and every single one of them enjoyed their whole stay. The rooms are gorgeous, view is gorgeous. The beds and comfy, all the staff is so helpful. The wedding was outside, Kendal set up all the chairs, checked on us multiple times during the day, made sure everything looked fantastic. That’s not all she did though, she even bartended to make sure everyone was getting their drinks fast enough. We had such a blast and have no complaints. Go here!! You will not regret it!
Me and my wife and several other guests could not check in because our rooms have not been cleaned. Im guessing they were short staffed. The nice lady at the front desk did find us a different room so we could check in. But when we got in our room and had a very funny smell to it and we noticed there was mold and mildew all over the curtains and they were white so I dont know how housekeeping couldnt have seen this. The hotel is just very cheaply made You can hear people walking above you talking through the walls the floor is creaking. Me and my wife will not stay here again.
The room wasnt clean enough. Big cobwebs coming off the lights, brown stain in front of the toilet but what ruined my stay were the flies that would not let me sleep. They landed in my face every five minutes or so and refused to be swatted. I had restless sleep and woke to a breakfast that was continental AF. Ive had better options at a Motel 6. Cold cheerios, greek yogurt, juice, a few pieces of fruit, some packaged pastries. The building is beautiful, bed was comfortable, linens smelled clean. Front desk was nice. I didnt see any housekeepers or other staff. You van hear EVERYTHING in the floors above you and river view has a view of the parking lot.
We stayed here the night of our wedding and have to say we were less than impressed by the $350+ we spent for the one night. The room was spacious nice and clean but right outside our window there was a patio with people loudly drinking and talking until past midnight, we were woken up extremely early by hearing the room above us walking around very loudly, the “river view” that we paid extra for was mostly blocked by trees, and the breakfast included was cold cereal, pre packaged pastries and yogurt cups. Fine for a lesser priced hotel but we expected more for the price tag this hotel carries. Definitley would not stay here again and would steer others away from it.
We had requested a room with a river view. It did not happen. We had constant foot traffic above us which made it difficult to rest in the evening. Our key card would never work so we had to get it replaced several times. Every time we entered the lobby, coming or going, we were never greeted by the front desk, not once. Literally being ignored. Our room was never cleaned while we’re there, which we understood due to Covid. We are very disappointed with our stay and probably will never go back.
Arrived at 12pm and asked for a phone call when our room was available. The staff confirmed my phone number and said they would call as soon as it was available. At 415, still no phone call, we called in to see if our room was ready as it was past check-in. Yes, it was ready. Went to hotel to check in and no one was at the desk. Waited for 15 minutes. Get checked in and are then warned that it may be loud that there is a wedding on our floor but that it will last no later than 11pm. We ask for a different room and the response is that they are completely sold out. If only they would have done what they said and called us when our room was ready. Horrific display of customer service. We head to the second floor and walk DIRECTLY INTO THE WEDDING. We had to walk THROUGH their reception to get to our room. The room stunk like mold. It was dirty and disgusting. They used patio doors as windows and the floor in the bathroom held water. Further, the television was over the fireplace adjacent to the bed. You could not even see the TV from the bed or the sitting chair (which had stains all over it and I would not sit in). You honestly had to stand if you wanted to watch TV.The bass was deafening. We showered (ew, moldy curtain and lack of drainage in the shower) and left immediately to walk around town and avoid the noise. We returned at 10pm and the music had died down, but had to get through the wedding reception in our street clothes once more.We got ready for bed. The guests above us on the third floor sounded like they had concrete blocks attached to their shoes. We called the desk and they said that the noise was because of a wedding. The wedding was on our floor and this was above us so my husband asked, is the wedding above us? and they said, no, but to call back if it continued because there was nothing they could do until then. They tromped around until 4am and it sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling at any moment.Seriously. Avoid this hotel.
First, I understand that employees are hard to come by due to the unemployment situation. I think the rates should reflect the standards/services rendered. The a/c unit malfunctioned. The room was not fully cleaned and had large visible stains on the carpet. The toilet seat screws were broken and you constantly slid sideways every time you tried to sit down, which was REALLY annoying. The curtains were ripped. The elevator carpets were dirty. Overall the experience did not reflect the rates charged. The lobby was pretty and I loved the chandelier. That was the best comment I had to offer lol.
I wish I could go into detail about everything that made my wedding day an absolute Disaster but it would be too long to write on here. Kendelle and her staff were so disrespectful and unprofessional to the point of embarrassment. Confronting us in front of guests about matters that should be discussed in private, swearing at me and my wife multiple times because we were asking her simple questions that a wedding coordinator should have been able to answer. Almost reminded me as if she was intoxicated. She proceeding to mock my sister and father in law and was unapologetic about her actions . I will never get this day back and my memories are now tainted . Please do not waste your money and chance ruining your wedding by booking with these people. Beautiful place on the water, but the experience was similar to something out of the twilight zone
The rooms are not like the photos. There was no outlet in the bathroom. My brother and his wife had a room where the bathroom had no shower curtain. The carpet was stained, the water from the cold tap was warm and didnt get cold matter how long you ran it. We were there for a wedding, the food was terrible, chicken picatta that looked like it was boiled,no flavor and tough. The pork was fatty and dry
Our room was nice enough. The hotel is pet friendly (we knew this ahead of time) and it definitely shows in the carpeting (stains everywhere). Still, we enjoyed ourselves even though we never had a chance to try out any of the spa services. Its close enough to everything that you never feel like not doing something because its too far. Downtown Lewiston is just up the hill, but within walking distance and has several dining options - everything from coffee houses to a brewery. There are also a lot of small shops if youre into supporting small businesses. The ones we checked out were all amazing and proprietors were all super friendly and full of great suggestions on what to see in and around town. I could have geeked out with the owner of Viva Nostalgia all day. If youre a movie or pop culture buff, thats the place to be!But getting back to the hotel...The best part, hands down, is that its right there at the waterfront. You can head across the street for some food and ice cream (HIGHLY recommend), and just grab a bench and chill out watching the sun set over the Niagara river and Ontario, Canada. My wife didnt ever want to leave.
Attended a wedding there this past weekend all I can say is terrible service! Staff was not accommodating at all and down right rude. The wedding coordinator/catering sales manager was completely incorrigible and at one point confronted the bride and groom in front of guests and started swearing at them! I couldnt believe my ears. If you are planning a wedding or a weekend getaway find another venue
Positive: The hotel location was nice and Lewiston is a great town. Negative: Breakfast bar was pretty limited. Lots of carbs but not much for others. For the price of the rooms & the limited room cleaning (due to COVID) they could have offered more for the money they were saving.
If I was allowed to give 10 stars I would. Our wedding was everything and more. Thank you to Kendelle, Chris and team for such an amazing experience. The staff from the beginning were absolutely amazing. Very professional, so helpful and amazing food and service. My husband and I are so lucky to have had our wedding at such a great place. Our guests raved about the rooms, spa service and the great professionalism and friendliness from all the staff. Kendelle helped me from the beginning of the process to the end of the process and can’t thank her and the Niagara Crossing staff enough. You made our day absolutely magical. Thank you so so much.
A lovely hotel and spa! We had a great weekend getaway for our anniversary. If you like old converted mansions, you will love this place. Many modern updates, but some throwbacks to the old mansion still remain. The only two drawbacks were having to listen to the couple right above us loudly and energetically enjoying their stay 🤣, and not being able to reach the front desk with the phone in our room. The town is lovely, there is a little park between the hotel and river with benches tables and a swing. Lots of little places to eat and shop and Buffalo is a short drive away.
Bed and linens were clean and staff was friendly. However, although I do like retro, aspects of the room were just worn and in need of updates. Stains on carpet, old yellowing shower curtin and old drapes. No way to close them if you wanted to sleep in. Also, only one chair. So, anyone else had to just use the bed. Could be really amazing with just a little attention. Also no housekeeping service. They would just leave you towels in a bag by your door.
Clean spacious recently updated rooms. Bed was comfortable, linen smelled n looked very clean. Friendly front desk personnel, GM Nicole was very friendly. Parking is awkward. Have to park in lower lots on either side of hotel. Plenty of parking though. Had a river view suite amazing views of the Niagara River. TV could be a tad bigger for that room size but overall very pleased with our stay. Close to Niagara Falls less then 20 minutes. Would definitely stay again.
Positive: Location is convenient and beautiful. Negative: The bathroom requires a small table next to the sink because the current very narrow glass shelf above the sink is barely large enough to hold a toothbrush, paste and hairbrush. The extra shelf to the right of the sink is several feet away and too high.
From the moment I arrived, the staff was dismissive and condescending of the party I was with. Concerns were brought to staff’s attention and were completely disregarded and dismissed. The following day when the event took place, the wedding coordinator, Kendelle, spoke to the guests in an utterly despicable manner. I have been to plenty of events and stayed at plenty of hotels and am completely disgusted with how Kendelle and other staff treated guests including the bride, groom, and their respective families. There was nothing professional or respectable about their behavior and they should be ashamed that they advertise themselves as a wedding venue and have zero regard for how they treat their paying guests. I would 100% not recommend this hotel in any capacity to anyone!
Several members of my family and I stayed at the Niagara Crossing in July for a wedding. Our reservations ranged from 2 - 6 nights. At first glance, the exterior and lobby were a bit shabby, but very attractive. My first indication that things would be questionable: the vase of dead roses on the reception desk. Not wilted. Dead. Dried out and falling apart. They should have been tossed at least a week to 10 days prior. If you dont get one of the few spots on the upper level near the hotel entrance, you need to climb a fairly steep hill. We were told theres a flight of steps that would make the trip easier. The problem: the steps are wood, a plank was missing and there were no lights - a deadly combination. The ground in the upper parking area appears to have been painted or coated. The coating is lifting off in very large pieces and I managed to trip on our last day. There was a block of rooms for wedding guests, with a reduced rate. At booking, my husband and I splurged and upgraded to a suite with a private balcony. Our 4 night stay was nearly $1,100. The suite turned out to be single large room with a king size bed and a stained, saggy sofa. There are no screens on the balcony doors; open at your own risk or the room will be quickly infested with flying insects. When we arrived, we had to find a store with late hours so we could purchase Lysol wipes, paper towels, etc. Furniture and carpet were stained, as were the walls. Many surfaces were dusty. There small piles of crumbs of some sort in several places. The bed linens appeared to have been washed, but there was a small, dried blood stain on the sheet at the side of the bed. The mini fridge was dirty and had a build-up of ice in the back. The hems of some of the curtains had unraveled and were pooled on the floor. There was no closet, just a clothes rack and three very shallow drawers. The rack wasnt tall enough to accommodate long gowns and the handles and interior of the drawers had a sticky brown substance on them. (Thank heaven for Lysol wipes!) The TV remote and Channel card appeared to have the same substance. The WiFi kept dropping, but it was a teeny bit better than the remote for the overhead AC unit whose only functions were ON and OFF.The single towel rack in the bathroom was just large enough for just one towel, and not close to the shower, so we had to step out and cross the length of the bathroom to dry off. Because there was no ventilation at all in the bathroom, used towels were still very damp more than 24 hours later, despite being spread along the shower rail. With just a pedestal sink and no vanity, we had no place to put toiletries, toothpaste, etc. The Cold water faucet produced just Hot water, not matter how long we let it run. The electrical outlets in the bathroom did not work at all; we had to use the ones in the bedroom. That wouldnt have been so bad, but they were too far from the closest mirror to allow you to see yourself while drying your hair without being a contortionist. The rugs and doors in some of the common areas were also filthy. Most hotels clean and service rooms every 2-3 days, but we never had that experience despite being there 4-6 nights. The fact that the wedding was onsite was the only thing that kept us from leaving. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre and even a non-drinker like me could tell that the alcoholic beverages were seriously watered down.We really wanted to like this place and made a lot of allowances. We fully appreciate that COVID still has a tremendous impact on services everywhere. The location is excellent and picturesque and the hotels basic structure offers SO many possibilities. The Niagara Crossing is woefully understaffed. Those who work there seem to be stretched to the limit, but they are still cheerful and helpful. (Olivia is awesome!!) We heard from several sources that the hotel has a new owner and will be upgraded soon. For everyones sake, I hope so.
Nice place to stay near to the river, near to Lewiston Village area, you can go there just walk some steps from the hotel. The only bad thing, there are no washing machines and dryers in the hotel for for guests if you want to stay many days, but there are a few laundromat nearby.
Postive- There was a gentleman on staff that was polite and responsive. That was the only positive experience we had with staff. Lewiston is great- Wonderful restaurants and beautiful location. The hotel is outdated. Carpets in the room and hall had stains on them. Musty smell. Slow draining water in the restrooms. Stains on the ceiling. Cannot get an answer at the desk, go down and not able to find someone. Uncomfortable feeling being there like it is a burden to have guests. The parking is across the street in a dimly lit parking lot. We had a river view room but could barely see it. Misleading description and pics.. Disappointing experience that I hope to save someone from.
Rustic hotel on the banks of the niagara river, beautifully lit at night. our one night stay experience was quite pleasant. we were happy to find hardwood floors in our room which was clean & comfortable with a view of the river & across to canada. its a short 10 minute walk to the artpark concert venue.
I’m leaving one star because the staff there where friendly and accommodating but that’s it. The room are extremely dirty and the carpets had pet urine and poop stains on them. The bathroom you could see dirt rings from previous guests. The rooms are specious but don’t have anyone above you. You can hear every conversation and every foot step! Breakfast is a joke. I understand Covid restrictions but to have nothing but cereal and danish is ridiculous especially sense it is all sugar and my husband is a dietetic and can’t have any of it. This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
It was a nice place to stay by the river. Dog friendly too. Its in walking distance to all the shops in Lewiston. The only downside is the age of building. They tried to renovate and cover it up but you can tell some things are a bit old and so is the design. But the same could be said for most buildings in Lewiston.
If I could give negative stars I would. This place is a poor excuse for a business. They told us during reception that the chefs were ready to walk out because we were being difficult, and all we did was ask why some guests didnt have food while the rest of the table was finished eating. Kendall also refused to give the bride and groom the extra meals they paid for. because a few guests didnt show. When she was asked about this she told me who are you you dont matter. I was a paying customer that night as I had a hotel room booked, which by the way was booked within the room block so I can be on the same floor as reception but when I checked in they tried to give me a room on the 4th floor (full priced, without the room block discount, and the furthest away from the reception). I told them I wanted the room that I booked in the room block and they said they had to switch some things around for availability. I asked if the entire room block was booked and then magically they found me a room in the room block. Kendall went out multiple times arguing with the bride and groom in front of their guests, about matters that could have been resolved in private or the next day. Overall a terrible experience from the minute we got there. Kendall doesnt know how to speak to customers or anybody for that matter. I would never recommend this place. I plan to file a formal complaint with the state, because it seems like they try to take advantage of their customers by not giving them what they pay for. They should be audited and formally reviewed.
The hotel is clean and the location is nice as well. The hotel building is beautiful with old world charm. However the hotel lobby is disappointing. It seems the hotel lobby has been given a facelift of sorts which doesnt compliment the external architecture.the hotel staff is helpful and polite. Also the Keurig in the lobby is a great option.
This was our first time staying and we were pleased with our stay. The location is in a beautiful, cozy and quaint town that’s very close to the falls. The hotel was under renovations so we didn’t get that boutique-y feel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, maid service was not being done due to Covid (I’m guessing) or because they are understaffed. The reviews about the walls being thin, rooms needing a little TLC and the fire alarm going off are all true. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and are pleased!
Really really needs cleaning and freshening up. Walls cracked, blood? Chocolate? On bathroom woodwork. Stains in carpeting. I called front desk for bar of soap and few hand towels. Never came. Dusty curtains. Do they not have enough help? Seems very short staffed and only by extremely young people that just don’t really care. We will not be staying there again. Seems there might be some financial issues. Hope this potentially beautiful landmark comes back. Over $200 for one night!!!!
We had our daughters wedding here and everything was absolutely perfect! Kendall was there to help with every aspect of planning and implementing her special day. The food was excellent and we had so many compliments throughout the day. Our rooms were spacious and very clean. The entire staff was very friendly and eager to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. We highly recommend it.
Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location with plenty of shops and restaurants to visit up the hill, nice riverfront view. Very quiet and peaceful inside and outside of the hotel. (If you have heavy footed upstairs neighbors like we did, you will be able to hear them) The room was great for the most part. I did notice that the bottom of the curtains were moldy due to the condensation from the windows. The bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner, I didnt shower without wearing my sandals. I believe that the shower tile itself was old enough to be permanently worn and stained, so it did not look the cleanest, even if it really was. New shower tile atleast on the floor would be beneficial. The showers dont have a curtain or a door, so if the water is angled just right, it will spray out into the rest of the bathroom and on the bathroom floor. I felt bad that the floor kept getting wet from our showers, but there was no way to keep the water in 100%.
After camping for a night at Darian Lake we came to The Niagara Region to see the falls. We originally booked a stay at another hotel but after arriving we barely wanted to sit on their furniture. We frantically looked for another hotel and this one caught our eye. The staff was able to find a room for us for a decent price. Upon arriving in the lobby we were immediately relieved. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Our room had a modern feel but also had hints of Victorian era. The toiletries were very nice and the beds and towels were clean and crisp. There are many good restaurants and pubs within walking distance as well as an ice cream parlor across the street. Many of the reviews complained about parking but I had no problem with the parking they offered. Overall this was a very nice place to stay and I’m sure we’ll be back.
I stayed at the Barton for a week. Immediately I was impressed by the beauty outside and the gorgeous lobby. The reception staff were so friendly. My room was exactly what the picture online looked like. It was so clean and perfect for a stress free getaway. I am not sure why anyone would not enjoy themselves here! Each day the staff cleaned my room while I was out, restocking it with new soaps and lotions, towels folded in the bathroom nicely, my bed made, fireplace on, and just little extra touches that made coming back to my room amazing. I called the front desk to bring a bucket of ice to my room; within two minutes a friendly woman promptly delivered the ice. Service with a smile! Not to mention, the hotel is just a short walk away from the pier and shops on Center street. I want to come back again next year!
I loved the location but I thought it was over priced for being non tourist season and even for being on the river. I am originally from Niagara Falls so I know about tourist season. There was no mini fridge in the room, no table to eat anything or whatever you need it for. Only 1 chair even though there were 2 of us. Oh, the free parking...its mostly street parking. I was lucky because there was 2 handicap spots right on the hotel premises. The cell and wifi was mostly non existent. I did enjoy the bed, very comfortable. But it was very high, I had to kind of roll in to the bed. Will not stay there again.
Very nice hotel. For a late-COVID place to stay, the room is clean and cozy, bathrooms clean, breakfast fully pre-packaged foods. It is located just outside of Niagara. There is a beautiful ballroom and adjoining terrace that would be a great venue for a destination wedding
I absolutely loved the size of the room here. It seemed to have more of a home feel versus commercialized. We enjoyed a nice walk in the nearby park before check out. Very quiet! I also say this is one of the most kid friendly places, no need to baby proof, or worrying about your child bumping a knoggin on sharp corners or edges. Very friendly staff. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely loved this place! Meg at the front desk was great! Absolutely loved her great customer service! The other gentleman at the front also was fantastic! I would highly recommend. You get stress relief shampoo and conditioner which was great quality! We stayed in a beautiful clean room with a fireplace, huge bathroom and enjoyed a great evening with my husband. The price was perfect and we will be making this a yearly thing! Its right off the water too with great things to do near by and fantastic restaurants! We will be back!
I asked the guy in the front desk to give me shampoo and conditioner for the first time and he kept telling me that my husband was there and already got some!I told him I don’t think so and he said yes!I was there for like 5 min trying to convenes him to give me some shampoo and conditioner before I go up to my room and my husband was still out.At the end he Gave me one each! And was really specific of what I exactly needed!I felt so uncomfortable about it!Was not really a nice and friendly guyHe was there at the front desk the whole time during our 2 days stayThe location was niceNice view on the river and nice town nearbyLovely fire place in the roomThey should work more on customer service and breakfast!
This place would have received 5 stars for the great staff, view, clean and lovely accommodations, but the sound of the guests walking overhead is terrible. You can hear your neighbors conversations in the bathrooms and hallways. There is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and it spoils the ambiance, if you know what I mean. Ive stayed here two times but I probably wouldnt stay again merely for the lack of soundproofing.
Booked the room last minute online to avoid a storm while camping. When we arrived, the reservation had only just come over but they had the room ready for us in no time! The place was clean and comfortable, not to mention quiet despite it being a busy weekend! The toiletries provided were amazing (Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Aromatherapy)! The only downsides were that the room didnt have a fridge and there wasnt ample parking. However, the room, the service, and the location all work to the benefit of this hotel!
What a fantastic Hotel. The room was an unexpected upgrade, overlooking the Niagara River. Clean, spotless, preserved with its era furniture. Great selection of continental breakfast. Walking distance to local owned restaurants and shops. I will stay here again and again.
Most favorite hotel to stay with my now husband. We have been staying at this hotel for years. The staff is friendly/family like. Rooms are unique and all so beautiful. The building is historic/romantic. Old schoom feel. We loved this area and it was so special to us we got married near here and stayed here the night before. Bars are walking distance so if you want a weekend get away with no driving this is a fun easy place to be. Awesome date weekend and the Brickyard (walking distance) is such an awesome pub. Great spot for fly fishing if you are into that. So many cool places to fish right near the hotel. Highly recommend.
The Barton Hill Hotel has a lovely view of the Niagara River. When you walk in the doors you feel like youre going back to old times hardwood floors, antique furniture and staff at desks not your usual check in at a hotel. Our room had a fake fireplace which would have been lovely it had been turned on. Instead the AC was running. The room was freezing and the temperatures were negative degrees outside it took a while for our room to actually get hot and we could be comfortable. The only other problem we had was the headboard was loose. Every time you moved on the bed it banged against the wall. Embarrassing to say the least. On the positive the staff were very accommodating to us and very helpful. We would go back again in warmer weather.
We were a little apprehensive to book this hotel based on reviews but it was great! The location is wonderful and the town of Lewiston has lots of great food and cute shops, all within a short walk. Room was huge and bathroom was large as well. Friendly staff and well kept rooms. Only negative was the water pressure in the shower and temperature fluctuation. A great experience and wed definitely stay again.
We chose for our guests to stay at the Barton hill when we got married last week nearby. The hotel is currently under new management so the management was working very hard to honor any/all promises made by the former owners. Jameson and Dana did a great job at communicating with us and ensuring that we got everything we needed for our wedding and our guests, even after the ownership transition. We had a great experience working with everyone and would definitely advise everyone to stay here if in the area! Great, spacious rooms! great waterfront location and great staff! We were pleased to have chosen this hotel for our wedding guests and ourselves!
We had a great time. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is unique and interesting. They are conveniently located minutes away from everything in Lewiston. Looks like theres still some work to be done with decorating and furnishing but what they have is nice. The free breakfast was a nice touch.
My husband and I spent our wedding night at Barton Hill Hotel 5 years ago and we both have great memories of it. We decided to go back for our fifth wedding anniversary this past week. It was a bit disappointing. First there were two bags of dirty sheets outside our room for our entire stay. Not the greatest impression. Secondly the coffee pot within our room was dirty (full of old coffee grounds). I didnt plan on doing someone elses dishes. Lastly, the comforter on our bed was sporting some coffee spills which were not our own. Any of these things alone could be overlooked as no big deal but the combination of the three made me question the overall cleanliness of the hotel. For the rate they charge I would expect at the very least to have a clean room. I will most likely not go back which is sad because it is a really charming place, dirty comforter aside.
We stayed at this hotel for our anniversary. The people working here are very nice. The room is clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is okay. My only complaint is that the room doesnt have a fridge or a microwave. But other than that, this is a nice place to stay that is close to Niagara Falls.
I was there for a wedding gorgeous hotel the receptionist was super friendly even though she was running around like a mad woman. They ran out of towels which I thought was odd. They started to serve dinner before the wedding party even arrived, they run a tight schedule. The food was awful and I am not a picky eater. I chose the beef option and it was pretty raw, I traded my date for the chicken and that wasnt much better(it was cooked). The lady running the show upstairs had an issue with one of the quest and mention it to the BRIDE!!! (Never ok) and as soon as the lights turned on it was hustle clean up time chairs being moved and Tables slammed around. Which made things awkward. Unfortunately the only positive was the front desk receptist and structure.
Attended a wedding. Food was very good. Staff was friendly and efficient. However it was an extremely uncomfortable situation due to the AC not being efficient enough to cool the room. To make it even worse, the sun was beaming through the doors and hitting the head table and the first row of guest tables. It became so unbearable, my date and I couldnt finish our dinners. You could see most of the guests were very uncomfortable and sweating quite a bit. It took the fun out of what was suppose to be a cheerful event. It was so unbearable, we had to leave early before we became ill.
Nice room, although it would have been nice had they let me know that they were painting. Also, do not expect too much for the prepackaged breakfast. Nice room, nice location, parking a challenge on a busy night and breakfast is basically prepackaged oatmeal, box cereal and an assortment of breads. I would stay there again.
A really nice place to stay. Staff was friendly, location next to the river is good. I was able to walk to a couple restaurants to have dinner and a drink. There is an ice cream place within walking distance. Hotel is in a quiet location and the room is quite comfortable, I even had an electric fireplace in my room.I felt there could be a few more outlets in the room. Obviously hard to move outlets or install new ones but maybe a lamp type thing with an open plug on it that some hotels have could be an idea so I can find a place near the bed to charge my phone at night. The breakfast in the morning was fairly spartan. A couple more option here would go a long way though it was more than enough to get me started on my day.
My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary at Barton Hill. It was a wonderful and relaxed stay. Peaceful and elegant. The free continental breakfast was simple and good. The view of the waterfront is just beautiful. Lots to do in lewiston with great music, food, and shopping along the road. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure.
Someone recommended I stay here while in the area on business. I myself wouldnt recommend this place, especially if I was with a local business. The local person just knows the hotel from the outside and hasnt stayed here themselves, so I dont blame them, as the outside does look pretty from the road.Upon arriving late in the evening, I walked into a dark lobby as most of the lights were off just to find someone sitting at a desk / table off to the side (think hotel California). Once in my room, I felt the need to check for bedbugs. I didnt find bedbugs, but the area behind the bed is filthy. The next day I left for business only to come back to no parking (this is a weekday). Out front of the hotel is 6 parking spots. 2 that are handicap & 4 general spots. Out on the street is seasonal parking that has a parking ban in winter months. That means you have to drive back out to the block over and park in a public lot, climb the stairs and cross the road. You mean to tell me that a 70+ room hotel has 6 parking spots?!?! What happened to the underground parking lot I heard about? Aside from that, overall Im not impressed by the general cleanliness and upkeep of this luxury hotel. Also, if youre expecting a mini fridge or microwave you wont find one. You also wont find an ice bucket, iron or ironing board. Ill be staying elsewhere next time Im in town on business.
This hotel is a gem! For the price its just fantastic. Our room was enormous, which was really nice after cramming in to tiny city motels for so long. The free shuttle stops a block away and you can easily walk up center street to dinner or down to the water to eat at the Silo. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, the rooms were really extra clean and so comfy. Its an old building, so think earplugs and turn on your phones noisemaker app if youre noise sensitive. No worse than anywhere though. (Breakfast is continental - dont expect much but if you want a big breakfast there are great options in Lewiston)
We came for the wedding, and unfortunately had to endure the (lacking) hospitality. From check in until check out, we received nothing but the poorest of customer service. Our stay started by being unable to pull through the entry way, due to a car being parked with no one inside. We waited for a couple of minutes before we asked the young man at the check in desk, if the driver could be asked to move their car. His response was a neutral sounding no. He would not even call up to their room to request that they move. I was surprised that on the day of the wedding, no one was there to direct traffic. With a party of that size, I would think that someone would be present to direct and assist as needed. The young man was even more help at the check in, where my reservation was unable to be found. When it magically appeared, it was for only one of the original 2 nights. Thank goodness they were able to find space, and that the wedding had booked a significant block of rooms. The room though was lackluster. Ripped curtains, a riverside view blocked completely out by a tree, and a temperature above 80 degrees.Speaking of temperature, the room holding the ceremony was well above 80 as well. During the rehearsal the previous evening, the entire party had been sweating due to the heat. According to the coordinator, it was cooled down the previous morning, and that they would take care of the room for the wedding day. This meant setting the thermostat at 68 degrees, and the entire crowd was allowed to join into the sauna-like atmosphere. At least the cocktail hour in the lobby was cooled, right? No. It was the same temperature, and the stifling heat caused many to go outside to cool down. The bartenders were clearly trained by the coordinator in how to handle guests, and were quick to deny any requests. Bourbon on the rocks? No. A glass of ice for my grandfather? No. Never was I offered any type of explanation by the bartenders, just a no with a bad attitude. The staff was quite abrupt with their clearing, and they took my plate away while I was turned to speak with another guest. It was a disappointment to say the least, especially after reading so many satisfied reviews of this venue.Customer service is traditionally a hallmark of a venue, and unfortunately the staff was consistent. Very few of the employees were cordial, polite, smiling, jovial, or had even the slightest amount of warmth to them (Chrissy though had an excellent attitude whenever interacting with the guests). A venue such as this, should take every opportunity to prove their quality for potential events. After attending here, I would be hesitant to recommend the Niagara Crossing Hotel. On the plus side, the wedding went off without a hitch. The guests enjoyed the bed and breakfast atmosphere, and the 2nd floor event area was perfect for the reception. There was never a complaint about the noise (and it was definitely a loud night), and we were able to continue the evening on for a little longer than originally allotted. If the management would like to make contact, I would love to further discuss the experiences that myself and the other attendees had.
Nice hotel. Had nice clean room. Not quite what it used to be a few years ago. Spent a nice New Years party there—- until a arrogant woman came to our table (that we paid for) grabbed our pitcher of water and started drinking out of it. Disgusting. Went to hostess who told me “she invited them”. Wow. Not coming back. We came 2nd year in s row. To bad Lewiston needs a classy hotel. This is not it
This place was beyond what I expected from the pictures. I wanted a hotel where my wife and I could have a romantic get away, near Niagara and Buffalo, within walking distance of water, attractions, great restaurants, roomy and spacious room and wonderful at home atmosphere. Niagara crossing hotel & spa nailed it. We walk in and were immediately greeted with smiles, efficient check in and once we got to our room the pictures didnt do them any justice. Super spacious, wonderfully cleaned, a bathroom for a queen, with stress relief shampoos and conditioners and the spa, for my wife, made her feel like like the most beautiful woman she is. So many things to do near the hotel, within walking distance and wonderful view of the river. I come to this neck of the woods every year and I will most definitely return and refer friends and family aswell. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
My wife and I stayed for three days/two nights in early March. Quite simply put it was a fantastic trip. Lewiston as a town was fantastic. The hotel was likewise top notch - the room was massive and overlooked the Niagara River. Just a wonderful stay all around - keep up the good work. We will definitely be back!
Sheets and carpets were dirty. Room was located over wedding reception. Wedding reception music was so loud that could not even hear the tv. Noise went on until 10:30 PM. So much for a relaxing get away. Overall the room décor was cheap and the hotel maintenance was lacking leaving a run down feeling to the place. I will not return and would not recommend.
So I want to start this off by saying this has nothing to do with the hotel itself but with some of the staff. I was here over the weekend for a wedding and what I seen and witnessed and how I was personally treated was redicoulous. first off, we traveled 9 hours to be here. my sister traveled over night and was told she could not check into her room till about 1pm when she arrived at 8a.m and the wedding started at 3, secondly the way that Kendelle spoke to me so unprofessional and rude! I heard she also spoke to a few other guest Rudely too. being that i was in the wedding I didnt want to make a scene. she also spoke to my husband rude and threatened to kick him out of the reception, meanwhile she is litterally screaming. she could have been a better maitre d. while eveyone is a picking at the dessert bar and no one is telling the guest it wasnt open, or had any serving utensils out.Oh and the waits staff literally through the food at us. the hotel is beautiful, subpar breakfast, but cute. If you plan on having an event here hopefully you dont have to deal with Kendelle. she looses her patience easily and is just plain ol nasty!
Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and very inviting. Only downside is parking isnt fairly close to the hotel. Two lots below the hotel, followed by stairs. Not a fun walk in the rain. Was on a floor level room and there was minimal parking in front of the window, headlights shined right in. Overall great stay!
While the hotel itself is quaint and lovely, the staff has no warmth or sense of hospitality. Check in and check out was nearly robotic with no grace, or deference. Not even a Thanks for staying with us at checkout. Someone needs to train them more/better on what it really means to host and welcome guests.
The door key would not work. Had to sit in the lobby for over 30 minutes because there was NO ONE at the front desk. I am with a disabled person and we cannot get into our room for our second night stay and no one to help and it is after 9pm. The room was over $240 for 2 people , you would think that the room would have a microwave or refrigerator and the tv didn’t work. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!
If you like people pounding their feet and making noise and IF you like absolutely no parking at all. This is a must stay. As a disabled combat veteran there is absolutely no adequate parking. Im currently here today May 4th... Room 323 and WOW! Lets see if I get any sleep with the Elephant on the floor above me.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars on this is because the building does need some repair.Outside of this, I could not have been happier with our stay! It was my wedding and Phillip (this man gets 5 stars alone!) at the front desk could not have been more accommodating. He eased all of my anxiety about coming to the room and being able to get prepared for the ceremony there. The room was beautiful and the view, breathtaking. We were in a riverview suite on the 4th floor overlooking the niagara gorge and river and there was a balcony out front. Pure beauty. The price is high as the hotel is quite nice. There just needs to be some building and room repairs to bring it back up.
Room was great. Staff were nice. Breakfast was good. This is where it ends! Our car was damaged while parked in the lot down the hill where we were to park. I have to my windshield replaced. The hotel staff refused to take any responsibility for it and claimed it was a public lot. I checked with the local police department and was told that is the hotels lot. I emailed them outlining my.concerns. My email was ignored as I never heard back. Never again will I stay here. Its too bad..I liked Lewiston.
Stayed here because of good reviews. But our stay was awful.Beds uncomfortable, pillows went flat and hard, was hot all night because air conditioner was a portable unit in the corner and did not cool,no ice machine, had to park too far away and take steep stairs from parking lot to hotel. If youre here for the Falls stay at a hotel near the Falls.
My fiancé and I planned a trip to Niagara Falls, and purchased a Groupon for the Barton Hill Inn & Spa, after reading complaints on here, we were nervous. Until we arrived and found the other posts wrong. The town of Lewiston is amazing, a quaint little town, full of shops and restaurants, and right on the river front. The Inn was warm and inviting, the staff was amazing- with free valet whenever you wanted it. They would even drop everything they were doing, to help you. We stayed in a Portage Room, that viewed the river...again, amazing. The room was very spacious, with a separate room with a couch, and a very clean bathroom. We also had dined there both nights we stayed. The breakfast buffet was nice, and the dinner was great! No complaints. Overall, it was one of the best experiences Ive had when it comes hotels!! Definitely will be going back in the future!
Bathroom was big but dirty. The tile grout was covered in scum anf the shower head was some loose pipes. Also, there were flys and other bugs in the room, A/C was poor, and the spa was hardly acessible. You have to call or email for an appointment. They should allow booking online or the front desk to book since there is no spa lobby....The view from tge river front is beautiful and the beds are comfy.
The worst experience ever! Booked in April and was contacted-through email-the day before our arrival that they had to cancel our dinner reservations. So, we had to make reservations at another restaurant. Once we arrived, we went to our room and noticed it hadnt been cleaned. There were spiders and cobwebs everywhere. There was even a cocoon in the shower. Our heat source did not work. The gentleman at the front desk was the rudest individual I ever met. We ended up driving an hour back home instead of staying here.
I would give the Barton Hill hotel and spa zero stars if I could. I am outraged by the horrible service my husband and I received on 11/22/2014. My husband tried to surprise me for our two year anniversary with a room for the night and a couples massage. They did not inform my husband on the phone that he had to reserve a time for our massage. Now there are no open time slots for us. We were told that it was a miscommunication on their part and that they could not accommodate us for our massage. I see no point in spending $300 on a hotel room for one night when we are getting no couples massage. Thank you, BH hotel and spa for ruining what could have been an amazing experience for us. Horrible customer service and clearly untrained staff. Needless to say I am outraged and will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.
For the price you pay you have to rent a fridge. Then my friend had to throw out her breast milk because they refused to help us. Ive never heard if a place where you have to request a fridge in your room, especially for the price you pay. Very disappointed by this hotel.
The room was beautiful the view is gorgeous I reserved this room for my wife for our anniversary so she could have a night away from the kids between the front desk and the operations manager Chris I would say its a top-notch establishment highly recommend staying there
Friendly staff, good food, but the whole place is poorly maintained. Cobwebs everywhere, sinks dont drain, drapery hardware fell off the wall and outlets didnt work. Internet weak and erratic. Christmas evergreens browned and forgotten in the lobby window in September!
Worst customer experience ever.I left my iPad during the stay and asked them to ship it back to me. How hard is this? I even called twice before the shipping and made sure the address is correct. It turned out that they mailed the package to somewhere else and my credit card got charged twice. They told me that they would investigate as soon as possible. Now, its been 3 months already and Ive not heard a word from them.
If you plan on staying here for business DONT.They advertise Internet Access, BUT there is no internet access available in the rooms.Their answer is you can come down to the lobby for internet access. So if you are on business you can not check email in your room you have to carry your laptop down to the lobby and check you mail there.I have NOT stayed in a Hotel for years where I have not had internet access.I was very disappointed with their attitude. The rates are over $200 a night and they cannot invest a couple of thousand to provide their guests with services that are essential if you are traveling on business.
MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE EVER! My GF (at the time) and I stayed here so I could Propose. Charmese set everything up for me and coordinated everything perfectly! She recommended Kevin Bivins Photography whom did an absolute stunning job! Lewiston is a beautiful town. Were already planning another trip to show our kids where the magic moment happened! Thank You so much for an unforgettable experience!

2022-06-08I already left a 5 star review when we checked out because this place is awesome. We ended up leaving some souvenirs we bought for our Daughter in our room. The hotel staff was so honest and considerate to box them up and shipped them to our house. Nicole called and updated me when it would be delivered. I dont think Ive ever had such a good hospitality experience. Thank you so much. Were definitely coming back as often as possible.

2022-04-12Positive: Beautiful location, with a great view. Spacious rooms and bathroom. Nice, big shower. No tub. No closets, but there was a rack in the room to hang clothing, which was fine with me. Super comfortable bed and pillows. Very friendly and helpful staff. Negative: Minor complaint: Enjoyed the hot breakfast buffet, for a reasonable extra cost, but thought it would be nice to have been provided real plates and flatware instead of paper and plastic.

2022-06-28I booked a room a few months ago for family members. That was for a stay in April. All went well and my family was pleased. They were very happy with the breakfast provided. So last night I was looking for a last minute room due to confusion with our moving van.So I called to see if anything was available. Imagine my disappointment when I was expectingA nice Hello on the other end if the phone. NOPE! Whoever answered that phone was terrible. One of the rudest conversations iv had in a long time.Yupp rooms were available. I choose to spend my money elsewhere. They just lost who could have been a repeat customer when we travel back for visits.

2022-06-09The staff were very friendly, check in was easy and pleasant. However, the room was gross. The shower was so dirty we didnt want to shower, the floors were sticky and dirty, there were substances along the floorboards (not just dirt) that looked like old food maybe. Overall, we felt very uncomfortable with how gross the room was.

2022-02-21As usual we had a wonderful weekend! Staff was excellent and super friendly. We have been coming here for years and will continue to return. Just wish the new owners had left the old time feel and werent trying to make it modern looking. . That used to be our favorite part of this property.

2022-03-20This was an excellent place to stay. Great staff, rooms are very clean and luxurious, and the continental breakfast was nice. I recommend staying in the offseason however because prices can get steep if not. Fantastic location.

2022-05-06Originally I was going to stay at a hotel in Niagara Falls. But then I found this hotel in Lewiston. I am so glad I stayed at Niagara Crossing instead. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The view of Niagara River and the houses in Canada across the river are a wonderful sight to wake up to. I would stay here again!

2022-04-03Overall nice location. I would ensure to book a room on the top floor (4th) otherwise you ll be held hostage to listening to footsteps throughout the night and early in the morning. I am not a picky traveller, but the footsteps of the guests above each night sounded like River Dance with every step donning high heels. Sleep was disturbed sleep rather easily. Every single footstep of each guest, floor creak and TV program is heard as guests above walk back and forth. We seriously considered moving to another hotel after the first night as the 4th floor was booked. We decided to stay since the guests above were checking out. The second night with new guests was absolutely no different. The rooms are spacious and clean. The town is quaint and worth the weekend low key getaway. If it was nt for the constant disturbed sleep. I would have given this venue four stars. Book on the top floor and save yourself from a weekend of lost sleep and tread lightly for those below.

2022-04-10Clean comfortable bed. Spacious shower and bathroom. Very clean all around. Nice continental breakfast and buffet on saturday & sunday mornings for $13.95 was well worth it. A very classy 3.5 star hotel in a great llocation near downtown Lewiston with alot of restaurants and bakery and some stores. Very nice staff.
