Water front is a beautiful place full of energy not only from the people but the beauty of the river can find your self lost between nature your peers its quite a destination brings many walks of life from young to elders and even your four legged friends beautiful place to be and catch the action.
All along Niagara River and near the Tonawanda harbor, this park has lots of facilities for the individuals and families to enjoy a summer day. It sits in between Niagara Falls and downtown Buffalo, you can therefore ride your bike to either end in about an hour. Bring your boat or jetski, or just a fishing pole. Pack your picnic basket or you can get food and drink from across the street. Best park in the Buffalo/Niagara area.
One of the nicest spots to catch a sunset or just watch the water hit the rocks and reflect on your life. Tonawanda aint so bad. Its actually a beautiful park...especially at sunset. Watch that you arent run over crossing the paved bike/walking/jogging path that runs through the park as you approach the water.
Beautiful, long river side walkway and bike trail as well. A lot of people bring their dogs so prepare for that if you have a pet that doesnt like the commotion. (Like mine) There are small buildings with toilets to use along the trail as well. Theres a painted part of the walkway just intended for bikers. I love that its just a few blocks from me. Four stars because as the volume of people increases, the more you are dodging bikes and joggers.
Taking a stroll by the river, hand in hand, with your love is a wonderful way to spend a warm, breezy afternoon. Next time we will bring lawn chairs to just sit and relax under the shade of a tree. Path was well maintained and clearly marked for cyclists and walkers. Definitely felt safe too.
Went to meet friends here, since other parks are so busy with concerts tonight. Here, when the Canada geese were not loud, we could hear each other from our vehicles.Besides the geese, there were boaters on the water, some pulling people on flat beds of some sort. There were folks on jet ski water crafts. On the bike and walking paths, there were walkers hand-in-hand. There were roller skaters, in-line skaters, skate boarders with foot power only--while others he had motorized boards on and off the path.Plenty of bicyclists, many with a manual bell on handlebars to alert walkers ahead of them, and to allow geese to get out of the way.So many folks got their phone out to record the geese in front of and all around them! This is a clean park. Trash receptacles are emptied. Way to go Niawanda Park. It is a huge park and we were in the least busy portion of it. I know it because I took so many wong turns first. Each section has a unique view!
Beautiful riverside park with plenty of seating arrangements.US might not be the country with ancient history but the industrialization age history and how people of Western New York realized impact of pollution is just remarkable. The park has information boards which shows signs of those magnificent past. The shore line is maintained from erosion and details are there. The Empire state trail is quite long which passes through this park, go to this park during summer for bicycling, skating or just walking. And dont miss the sunset!
This park is beautiful spring thru fall on nice days, has a solid boat launch into the river, and has two good ice cream/eateries across from the main entrance. Its attached to the main city bike road, and had picnic spots and public bathrooms too. A great place for a lot of activities.
Very quiet and calm place. Im guessing they clean this place very often because its always spotless of garbage and very clean and neat. Nice view of the water and the grass is clean enough to sit on plus they have a good number of wooden benches. They also have a long trail consisting of 3 lanes. One for walking and 2 lanes for biking. They have one phone charging pole which is solar powered (awesome for the environment) and it has chargers for all types of Apple and Android phones. Very nice little park. And a generous amount of parking spots are also very nice to have. Youll enjoy this place regardless of whatever occasion. Come check it out! :)
Very nice relaxing place to sit and enjoy the water. Also a good place to sit under a tree and talk with a friend. Lastly, there is a very nice bike and pedestrian path to use at your leisure. During this time of social distancing, not a bad place to hang out; especially during the week. Im not sure how busy it gets on the weekend.
Its a nice park with a great waterfront view. Its very busy in the summer months of course, which makes it difficult to find some peace and quiet sometimes. The bike path could use some work, and be careful if you ride through. People tend not to acknowledge most traffic on the path. Definitely go slow and take your time
You get to walk right next to a beautiful river, whats not to like. There are some picnic tables and benches too, and a boat launch, and a couple of well loved hot dog/hamburger/ice cream restaurants are just across the road. Theres almost always a breeze, which is wonderful (can be a godsend) in summer, and definitely bracing ( in my opinion also wonderful) in winter. They keep the walkway cleared in winter, which is great. Isleview Park, immediately next-door, isnt quite so accommodating in that regard. Niawanda is run by City of Tonawanda and the only real drawback is their bathrooms are open only from around Memorial Day to around Labor Day or until it gets cold. If you want a bathroom during the winter, walk down to Isleview Park, right next door, and the bathrooms by the red house, right next to Two Mike Creek, are heated and open all year. The County runs that park and its good too, but not the subject of this review. (For those who dont know, you can have a nice long walk if you want by combining the two parks; both have more or less the same facilities -- except as noted here -- and both of course have that wonderful river.)
Lovely and beautiful view but the parking is such a disaster, especially when trying to park on the street and turn around to even find a street spot bc it can be SO BUSY (example a summer Tuesday from 1130-1:30). Also as of 8/18 the restrooms are still closed so its tough to stay long if youve got kids with you.
We absolutely love this place. We have been making the drive for quite a few years now. Today the bathrooms were closed, we noticed a lot of people looking to use them as well. So that was a tad disappointing, but not the end of the world. We noticed a lot of garbage all over. There were plenty of containers to discard trash available throughout the park. Please keep the parks clean and take the extra step to use a garbage can.
The park was very nice, I love the walkway with the lines for bicyclists and walkers. Also really liked the docks for people with boats and people wanting to fish.I wish there were some more lights on the walk way thought being a female walking at dusk can be a little scary with long stretches of no light.
Beautiful views of the river right across the street from one of my favorites, Mississippi Mudds. A very busy park with a walking/bike path. Lots of benches to relax at and enjoy the view of the river. They have boat launches and a music pavilion too.A great place to relax and wind down with an ice cream and a beautiful sunset.Leashed dogs are welcome.
Whether you come here to walk or ride by the river, its such a relaxing place to enjoy the river. Theres so much to do here and you can enjoy at your own pace. We bring the kiddos down, pack a lunch and enjoy being by the water. The kids bring their footballs, soccer balls, frisbees, etc. and have a blast here. We try to come as often as we can. I enjoy riding my bike here as well.
With social distancing enforced, this is perfect for getting out and not feeling alone. The vibe is slightly different now but thats everywhere; however, this is still one of my favorite places. The geese dont stay six feet away. They still approach and beg for a food offering. The gulls still scream at you as you pass. The ducks are sleeping on the grass. The river is gorgeous and the waves continue to make that unmistakeable soothing, churning sound, while the bike path remains active and manicured. Old Man River and Mississippi Mudd are both open but obviously maintaining the distance rule. You have to wear a mask on the property unless youre eating. Thats fine with me, as long as its open. This is an ideal location for exercise or just relaxation. I recently moved back after four years in Vegas and wow am I happy to see water, trees, clouds and nice people! It hasnt changed much, despite the alteration in all venues across the county. Good to see it thriving still. ♥️
Beautiful views, many picnic tables, accessible bathrooms all along the waterfront, a very very long bike trail and tons of parking. Its also across from a couple decent places to eat and still have a beautiful view of the water! Also very clean and well taken care of! GREAT PLACE TO TAKE KIDS.
Very peaceful park, many people walking, biking, walking dogs, babies, strollers. Lot of tables and benches to sit and watch the water, boats or relax and or eat. Very convenient walk up restaurant across street for food, ice cream, drinks. Large patio upstairs to see the water & eat.
This beautiful park is adjacent to the Niagara River and has plenty of parking for great views, walking and picnicking. Right across the street are restaurants with real old time character including Old Man Rivers, and others. Summer time events include boat racing and concerts. This is a favorite of locals and tourists alike.
Me and my wife had a great time there watching boats and Jet skiers under the trees for shade, but the best thing was the mother duck brought its 11 ducklings out of the water to sunbathe and I just walked about 20 feet from her and when they were all dry the mother walked up to me thinking I was going to feed her babies but I didnt have any crackers I felt bad. So she got the babies went back in the water.
I have lived in Buffalo for three years and this is my favorite spot to visit. The bike paths along the river are a great spot to go for a walk with my son. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and its a lot of fun to watch the boats in the summer and the ice in the winter. Great family outing location
We had a beautiful day the sun was shining on Tuesday April 24th ... Very rare to have such a day, so we took the dog to the park and went for a walk along the river. It would be nice if people had the decency to put their trash in one of the many garbage cans supplied instead of on the ground. It would also be nice if people were considerate of others and pick up after their pet.
Love Niawanda Park. Walking/bike trail right next to the river. Many picnic benches. Great area for Sun or shade. Many options for Parking. Boat launches. Great for picnics, family reunions, gatherings. Very busy but yet plenty of area to enjoy. Dog walking. History postings along the walk trail. The beauty of so many amazing things nature has to offer!
I ride my bike through the park end to end often. It is well used with picnic tables and a popular boat launch. The walking/bike trail is in good condition. You can get ice cream and burgers across the street, and the park is right on the river. Bathrooms are available in the summer.
So we decided to launch the boat from somewhere new. We couldnt launch across from Mississippi Mudds because we didnt have a permit for that one. We were told there was a free launch site down the road. It was easy to launch from but the dock was super gross and was definitely not kept up on cleanliness.
This is one of our favorite places to go as a family! Its so relaxing to sit by the water and the kids love walking along the path and looking for ducks. The path is long and makes for a great place to ride your bike, rollerblade, or walk. They often have groups entertaining at the band shell and Mississippi Mudds is a nice place to get a cold treat to eat. If you go far enough down the path you will reach Isle view which has a playground about halfway down the path. In my opinion though, just walking along the docks and climbing on the rocks is enough fun to occupy the kids for a long while.
Just a beautiful evening at Niawanda Park. The breeze comong off the water was downright lovely and watching the boats and watercraft is always a good time too. The husband and I were coming back home after going out for dinner and this was too nice not to visit.Get going to the park before the weather changes for the not so best. Enjoy!!
A nice, long park to walk, bike, and play at. There are a number of decent sized grassy areas toss a frisbee around in (or throw a football, or kick a soccer ball, or whatever). The paths along the river are good sized for walking or riding a bike through, and it is generally not overly crowded (at least not when Ive been). It is also adjacent to a few food places (mostly open only during the summer), so its a good place to come, have lunch or dinner, then walk off the meal.
So relaxing to sit out by the water and watch the water fowl, boats and other manner of water activities, people fishing, bike riding, sunning walking/running, walking dogs. Plenty of sun and plenty of shade. Right across the street from Mississippi Mudds where you can get an ice cream and eat it in the park.
Its a beautiful area but not much for kids. Driving is difficult. Speed limit is 25mph and well supported by nearby police with good reason. Cross walks make driving a bit more difficult. Its extremely busy. They do have 2 concession stands nearby and a 711. The biggest issue is the lack of entertainment for young kids and traffic.
Best view of Niagara River. The park maintains its grounds rather well, offers a great walk or bike as well as numerous benches and picnic tables. Across the street, grab an ice cream and enjoy the people, boats, or water. I only knock one star off because the parking lot really need to be paved as its got a lot of ruts and pot holes.
Beautiful park by river and the riverwalk goes thru it but my experience is ruined today because I found the restrooms locked!! I had to hurry through instead of stay longer and enjoy myself!! I feel theres no excuse for this because the restrooms in Isle view are open & so I was very surprised to find them locked in Niawanda!! I guess I can never come here again before Memorial Day. Im very disappointed!
The bike path is ok, but the boat ramp is junk. Small boats will get sucked under the ramp and damaged due to the lack of vertical pylons. Furthermore, even though you dont need a launch permit during the off season, (dates clearly posted on the sign) that will not save you from having to spend time in the nearby city court fighting the ticket.

2022-06-09Beautiful place to enjoy the view of the river. Plenty of parking, picnic tables and benches and there is a paved bike/walking path that is wide enough to share and in a scenic, but open (think personal safety) location.

2022-05-04Very nice, quiet area to walk, run, or bike. Plenty of parking with just a quick walk to get to the water. Bring your own chair to sit and relax or use the provided picnic tables and chairs to have lunch or to sit and watch boats on the water. The park is dog friendly and there is a small playground for kids .

2022-02-23I think the park is just fine! Sometimes during the night time hours, mosquitos come out in a big group. It really doesnt bother me. I like to go to Mississippi Mudds right across the street from the park and bring my food back and eat it along the water. This place can be very relaxing and calming for me after a terrible day at work.

2021-09-23This is a beautiful park along the fantastic upper Niagara River. The park offers a newly repaved walkway that can stretch for miles. So walking or bikeing could not get any better. As you stroll along you have bathrooms and play areas. Strategically placed. And the view of the Niagara as it travels toward the mighty falls is always such a sight to behold. If you are a boater you can launch your boat here with the purchase of a 50 dollar season pass. Get that at the municipal building at the north end of the park. If you dont have a boat. Say hello to me the next time. I am always happy to meet and take a new friend along on a short cruise.

2022-06-27An absolutely beautiful park. Nice for walking or biking and fantastic views of the river. Saw a traveling Shakespeare show there and a number of other events over the years.
