The food and service are really good, and love the atmosphere. The drink prices are outrageous. $22 for an Old-Fashioned made with [cheap] Four Roses bourbon. $18 for a very small pour of Basil Hayden.Because of the drink prices, Id maybe get takeout in the future, but would never eat in-person again.
Stopped in for brunch before heading back home to NYC. Turned out to be a fantastic choice! I am not generally a brunch fan, but this was terrific. I had perfectly fried egg on excellent tomato slices on an English muffin. Husband had waffles with corn--sounds weird but was delicious. Pleasant server, cute old building. Cocktails sounded great though didnt have any with a driving upcoming.
Dining at Nighthawks was an excellent experience. The food was delicious and the cocktail was tasty. The menu had options for the vegetarian, and GF members of my party, which was convenient and a crowd pleaser. I would definitely go back, the food and service were outstanding!
There is no question, this place gets a 5 star across the board. Their food is perfect every time, fresh, delicious and without a doubt made by/ served by the best staff. For all the coffee lovers, it’s always made fresh and makes the experience even better by sipping on a delicious hot cup of coffee. Today I had their Peach Bellini - one of the best champagne brunchy drinks I’ve tried.Enjoy!
Food was delicious and the farm-fresh menu was really good. The quality of the food was top notch. Scallops were seared perfecty and the seasoning on the pork ribs was great. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very nice. However our waitress was very awkward and treated us poorly. Despite the bad service, would come back in hopes of another waitress.
TOO MANY STAFF TATTOOS ON DISPLAY,perhaps, but otherwise a charming place for brunch: the food is inventively prepared and hospitably presented. A waffle dish with kernels of corn and other vegetables was grand. Nighthawks is a welcome addition to downtown Troy, night or day.
The server said they had the best burgers on the area, and she was right! The fries were hot and crispy. I like mine with ketchup and hot sauce and they brought 2 really great flavors.Napkins were very linty but the awesome server even brought a lint roller to clean our clothes before we left. We will definitely be returning
It was the first time visiting this place. The hostess and the server was very friendly and nice. It wasn’t busy at all. The ambience was very nice and cozy. We got the veggie cheese burger and a couple of beers. The veggie burger was quite good. I highly recommend this place.
AWESOME place cant wait to get back there!!! The attention to detail, freshness, and they had my favorite brew available. Winning!!! They were out of their Biscuits n Gravy which helped me in decision making promise, but their Blue Cheese Gureyere balls deep fried dipped in maple syrup where the BOMB!!! Highly recommend this eating establishment
We live around the block from here and have tried, I think, every restaurant in downtown. This one beats the rest— changing menu reflects what is fresh and in season, the most unique and delicious cocktails, and a non-pretentious atmosphere. The only place we come back to again and again! Plus the Wednesday burger deals are pretty amazing
This place is a gem. Unless you are looking for an upscale dining experience, give Nighthawks a shot. The burgers were delicious, perfectly cooked and flavorful. We ordered a variety of sides and appetizers ... all were very good. The fries were so, so yummy. It was a super enjoyable meal! Its a very small, relaxed, kick-backed establishment. We were outside and the staff was ever present and met our varied needs promptly and with good cheer. Seriously, the staff was absolutely exceptional.Parking is on-street, usually uncomfortable for me since parallel parking is a challenge, but, plenty of spots close to the restaurant. If I ever make it back to Troy, I will make time to have a meal at Nighthawks.
My family had a nice lunch together at Nighthawks a couple of months ago. The staff hooked my husband and I up with some delicious vegan options. The salad was fresh and substantial. The roasted veggies were cooked perfectly. It was different than what many other restaurants put together for us, it was like a really great homemade meal. It is a bit of a small restaurant (packed with people), but I enjoyed our experience. I like that they sell kombucha too!
One of the best burgers Ive ever had, cooked as ordered, local ingredients, cheese, house sauce, pickles, and perfectly cooked fried egg. Companions raved about the veggie burgers and a pork/ goat cheese meatball entree. Bowl of fries for the table and good selection of draft/ can craft beer. Very friendly, attentive staff ( Ashley ). We will be back.
The service was great, and I thought the food was ok- no real taste in my falafel bowl, and now I may have food poisoning if possible off of a vegetarian plate? Its the only thing I ate today, my daughter had a bite of a falafel and didnt feel good almost immediately, we had lunch at 1ish, and I started to get sick around 6.
They have a great selection of veggies & meatless meals! Wonderful textures and in house goods! The bar puts out some delightful drinks both alcoholic & non-alcoholic. The burgers are worth the trip! He buys the whole cow! The most fresh ingredients and everything is bursting with flavor!! Open late too!
To start, the food was amazing! Got the burger with a side of fries and I would venture to say it is one of the top burgers in Troy. However, it took an hour and 45 to get our food which is a little longer than a casual weeknight out but they were fairly busy with a birthday so maybe that isnt the usual.
I love they focus on local ingerdients and have grass fed beef. Stopped in for a quick bite for lunch and got the cheese burger. The burger was solid, reminiscent of an elevated big Mac, but the burger itself was over salted and felt somewhat over priced at$10.50 without fries (fries extra). I think the price is fine for dinner (which is likely their target market being a late night bar), but there is too much competition for lunch in Troy, maybe a less expensive lunch menu is in order. Very friendly service.
Im sure their nightly specials are delicious; but, I couldnt tell you since I can never get past ordering an INCREDIBLE cheeseburger. My favorite is with a fried egg. Dont forget the fries. This place is fabulous, comfortable, and perhaps a bit bohemian... Do yourself a favor and stop in for a burger and a beer!
Great farm to market place! Limited standard menu, but that actually adds to its charm because the daily and weekly specials tied to the local farms are really creative and delicious. Vegan- and carnivore-friendly and everything was delicious! Really creative and adventurous place, friendly and unpretentious service. Definitely a new favorite!
A small constantly changing menu can be fun, but when we went the only non vegetarian option was the burger or a really expensive duck dish. We all got the burger, which we found to be mediocre. If the menu was online I might go again when it had something exciting, or if Im walking by I might see if anything sounded good, but I wont be making plans to go back.
We have been to Nighthakws (late night) ten times since they opened. We have only ever been able to stop in for their late night menu, which consists of the best burgers we have ever eaten in our entire lives. Honestly we are addicted. The most delicious meaty meat meat grass-fed smash burgers. The house everything pickles, sauce, caramelized onions, the egg, the house American cheese, the house processed and cured bacon. The perfectly buttery toasted bun. I always get the double cheese. My partner always gets the double with the works. We share an order of housecut fries. Both tender and crisp. The staff is always amazing. We usually get to see Jack on Friday nights. I wish I knew the name of the woman who is usually preparing our burgers at 1AM because she is also amazing. Seriously people the best burgers ever in a wonderful and cozy space. We cant wait to one day try the rest of the menu, as we have only ever heard the best things. Thank you for bringing back date night !
You have two choices at Nighthawks: Burgers and Brunch (only on weekends). I opted for the cheeseburger and the cooking of the burger and the toasting of the bun was excellent, the quality of the meat and cheese themselves were a bit disapointing, especially since the ingrediants were prominently listed as local farm fresh. But. The quality of cooking and bacon was enough to say this was the second best burger in the Capital region. I dont think its worth the 25 minute drive, but if Im over in Troy I certainly would think about stopping by and so should you.
Love the food, location and atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I alway look forward to my next experience there. Great wine and beer selection too. Thanks for having food allergy friendly options 🙏 perfect for an intimate dinner with friends or family.
Food, drinks and service were fine until it came time to tip. We ultimately ended up tipping way too much ($20 on a $64 pre-tax bill). The server felt it necessary to state that the tip rules we are following were outdated(originally $10 on a $64 pre-tax bill). The new rule is round up your bill after tax(tipping on a $70 bill that was originally $67 after tax) It ruined the end of the trip and I will not be returning. I guess its too expensive to eat out now. Restaurants please pay your servers.
Waiterss Amanda has a very calm but intuitive demeanor. She allows space while eating or drinking and is super personal. She has been our waitress more than once and remembered us from my wifes, then fiance, bachelorette party in September. The staff is professional, the music spans multiple genres and generations. Bottomless mimosas are delicious and one of a kind.... but the food is even better. Well prepared. Home grown, grass fed. Circle yes no or maybe. Circles yes.
OMG, I am soooooo sorry!!! I conflated your establishment with another local fare. Please forgive me!Your place was excellent head to toe and I will definitely be going back. The foie gras french toast was one of the best dishes I have ever had. You have an amazing creative mind for flavours. I only wish that I went back Nighthawks instead of the other place my family went to (shall remain nameless in this review).

2022-05-04I have never had a bad meal here. Best burgers in town in my opinion, and the burger deal during the week is unbeatable. Not only are the burgers great, but the entrees and the brunch menu are always unique and top notch.Staff is always very friendly and inside is clean and uniquely decorated.

2022-03-15Nighthawks had some of the best food and drink that Ive had in a very long time. Their focus on farm-to-table and sustainability sourced foods is reflected in the quality of their ingredients and diversity of their menu. The service and talented chefs and mixologists that they have on staff are also top-notch. You would be hard pressed to find much better food in the Troy area, especially if youre looking for fresh and pickled ingredients.

2022-04-22We stopped here for cocktails and had an amazing experience! The bartender was so knowledgeable and friendly. The flavor profiles of the drinks spot on. Amazing selection of liquor and a creatively delicious drink menu. Highly recommended. While we didnt have time for food, I have eaten here before and all of the ingredients are top notch and sourced with love. Well worth a visit!

2022-01-30Nighthawks has left us thoroughly impressed that each of the dishes are entirely house-made and sourced locally from the area. The aesthetics of the establishment are cozy, inviting, and eclectic with a good vibe overall. This restaurant has something for everybody, from picky eaters to experimental foodies and everything in between. Each of the dishes are artfully crafted with high quality ingredients. We would like to give the highest praise to the chef for their creative dishes and we will certainly be returning in the future!Soup of the day - acorn squash soupThe soup of the day for this restaurant is always fantastic, we highly recommend getting it. It was a hearty, thick soup that was well-seasoned and good for a cold winter day. The soup was both sweet and spicy with a dash of curry flavor that complimented the squash well.House fettuccine carbonara -These house made noodles were very fresh and had a nice taste/texture to them that paired with a heavy carbonara sauce topped with delicious pork jowl. The jowl was crispy on the outside with a nice, melt in your mouth, soft interior. This is some of the best carbonara we have ever had and it should be a staple dish here!Duck breast, stewed beans, apple & fermented cabbage slaw -Delicious, a perfect medium-rare duck breast with a nice fat cap that was charred & crispy on the exterior which paired well with the pleasant, mineral-rich flavor of the meat. The coleslaw provided the perfect palate cleanser and complimented the strong flavors of the dish.Burgers & Fries -We thought these were very high quality burgers. Each of the ingredients were very fresh and the beef had a great flavor to it. The fries were great, crispy on the outside while soft and fluffy on the inside. They even had house made pickles!House Smoked Coppa Poutine -This poutine is fantastic, it is a unique take on a traditional poutine that I have never had before. While I enjoy a typical poutine after living in Canada, this one had a gravy that was a mixture of sweet and savory with actual cheese curds and sweet pickled red peppers. This poutine makes me wish that it was more popular in the states.Smoked celeriac (vegan) -The vegan option for the week was a delicious smoked celeriac with a bunch of fresh herbs and veggies underneath a savory and delightful romesco sauce. The celeriac was hardy and robust with a texture that had a fresh crisp crunch which left us satisfied. Overall, the dish was a texture and flavor delight.Ultimately, this restaurant is fantastic. Between the creativity and quality of the dishes to the relaxed, eclectic vibe, we love this place!

2022-05-15Absolutely love this place!! All the dishes and drinks are so creative and we’ll executed. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, and the food is so good without being too heavy. Unlike a lot of other places, I feel healthy after eating delicious food here!

2020-09-06If you want a great brunch, dinner or just a quick bite this is your place!*Dinner - We had the takeaway burger with side Salad and side vegetable of the day which were all excellent! The burger is juicy and the house sauce is just perfect. Salad is fresh and the vegetable of the day was squash which came with a delicious spice sauce. We added the shishito peppers which were also excellent. We returned for Brunch the following day since the dinner was so delicious.*Brunch has a fab choice of drinks and food dishes. We had the shakshuka followed by the brioche donut which both, I think, topped the dinner. The drinks choices are perfect too with a bloody Mary and a cantaloupe Bellini as our faves. Super friendly and helpful staff - dont come to Troy and not try Nighthawks.

2022-05-22I cant believe I havent written a review for Nighthawks yet. Ive been going here since the place opened. Sometimes I go so often that I have had two meals in one day there.Heres the thing about Nighthawks. They have a regular menu. This regular menu has their amazing burgers, chicken sandwich, and a few other items that are always available. These items are always 100% delicious and to die for American bar food, but way better than bar food quality and deliciousness. Then they have a farm to table dinner menu for the later half of the week and weekend. These are more expensive, and very adventurous meals. They change every week. Ive had some a-maze-ing meals on this menu. Ive also had some items that I wasnt as much a fan of, but its worth the risk if youre on a food adventure. And we have brunch. The brunch menu is always changing, too. It can be totally amazing, and it is usually a food adventure here, too. Savory waffles, biscuit sandwiches, pastrami bagels, lots of things you would never be able to make for yourself. Note, though, that this is not a traditional diner breakfast. Its gonna feel weird, but you will be happy you tried it.Finally, the drink menu. Oh. My. God. Amanda has the best cocktails. She makes everything herself, including syrups, dehydrated orange slices, infused alcohols...she has the best cocktail menu creativity and vison, you cannot go wrong with one of her drinks. Try one. You really, really should. This place is my favorite restaurant in Troy, hands down.
