My friend and I frequently visit Nitas European Bakery on the weekends and the pastries and other items are well prepared. The pastries are not excessively sweet which can overpower your palate. I went back to try their Greek spinach pie, and it was exactly the way its made in Greece - crispy with a generous amount of spinach. Most importantly, the prices are very reasonable and everything is fresh.
They have really good stuff, very yammy. Its just not much glamorous place but cleen, they need to invest to remodel a bit, plus not that close to subway.Theres always people in this place, that fact tells you something - they have really good stuff.Parking is difficult around here.
Nita’s Bakery is my favorite. Affordable and delicious sweets, pastries. My go to for Colima and colaci. The ladies are always so nice and welcoming and even took my order Friday for a Saturday morning. I highly recommend it!Mulțumim pentru ca ne faceți sa ne simțim ca acasă, gustând din bunătățile de la cofetărie!
The first time I walked into this place was in 2003. It was terrific back then and I’m happy to report it’s only gotten better. It reminds me of bakeries in old Montreal; reminds me of bakeries in Eastern Europe: Hungary, Poland, Vienna. Everyday I walk my dog and it requires so much will power to not drop in everyday and get pastries, and yet—I go at least three times a week, buying: croissants, cheese danish, apple square, poppy square, opera cake, rugelach, and a box of cookies. I would give this place ten stars.
Nita’s never disappoints. I rushed in to order a last-minute cake for a next-day 30-person party and not only did they quickly help me out, everyone at the party (or at least the 1/3 that approached me) was asking me for the name of the amazing bakery that produced the cake. Great customer service, delicious products and I’m going to have to agree with one of the other reviewers, probably one of the best NYC bakeries.
Amazing bakery with a large assortment of cookies, cakes and pastries. Of course there is an equally impressive amount of delicious Romanian treats available. I found the prices to be extremely reasonable, and the folks working the counter were extremely warm and inviting.Custom and fresh daily cakes are also available. Try the Romanian Dobos & Amandine- DELICIOUS!
Great pastry selection, probably the best if you, like me, have sweet tooth... BUT the staff is the worst with customers; usually in a bakery you expect very friendly staff... I asked what some things were and they were very rude and seem bother by my asking... I tried to break the ice by smiling and asking the cuisine ethnicity and apologizing for not knowing pastries names; it didn’t work!... therefore the 4 stars!! Advice for management: get your people some customer care training!
Heaven!!! Cakes, cookies, cozonac (the Romanian version of brioche or panettone) freshly made with the delicious taste of just how my mother used to make them. Been going there for years and always their pastries, cookies and cakes are exceptional. Highly recommended!
I was served dry, probably day-old pastries, while other Romanian native customers were served the freshly made baked goods. It seemed to me the bakery discriminates against Americans. The reason Im sharing this, is because I speak Romanian, and while I was waiting in line, I heard the conversations between the cashiers and the Romanian customers in front of me. The cashiers would hand the bags of pastries to the Romanian customers assuring them that they were receiving hot and straight from the oven goods. The service I received was horrendous as well. All in all, this bakery has offered me disappointing products and service. What made my experience disgusting was that I got to experience their deliberate and intentional deceiving practices against English speaking people, such as myself. Shame on you and your staff - have you forgotten that you came in this country as immigrants, and that this country and the American customers have helped you realize your dreams when your own native country mistreated you? English speaking customers: please save yourselves the aggravation of dealing with such a horrible establishment, because their pastries are not that great either.
I did order4 day before Dec 24. They told me to please come 10 o clock. When I was arrived I see the huge line front of the store. Why I was order if I have to wait 1 hour’s to pick up my orders and pay !!!! This is take only 2 minute!!! This is Unprofessional and on organizer they should have to do to line who’s going to the store and buying the stuff and the other line who’s order already and they have to just pay !!!!If they are very busy ....!!!!!why they are not do this this . And I have to pay Only Chase!!!!
One of the best ethnic bakeries in Queens. I make sure to stop by each time when they are on my way to Brooklyn for freshly bakes spinach pie which is to die for, and an apple strudel. Service is great, and responsive. You can observe the entire baking process as the kitchen is open to all customers.
Fantastic bakery, the one place that I have to travel to 2 hours for a wonderful pice of cake.I buy about 20 pieces at the time so I can share w family and neighbors.Real good ingredients and the cookies are made w great ingredients not veget able shortening that sticks to the roof of your mouth...Thank you for bringing me back the the only good part of my childhood in Romania. If you are a born American please try it and taste what luxurious ingredients taste like but please leave behind the awful supermarket cake taste that you have been conditoned to.
For those looking to reexperience traditional Romanian pastries and cakes this is as close as it gets. I think the type of sugar they use makes the difference. In the US most sugar is derived from corn whereas that in Romania is derived from beets. So this alters the taste somewhat.
I just LOVE their products. The cozonac (Romanian pannetone style sweet bread) is very good. The patées (cheese, mushroom and meat puffs) are my kids favorite. I personally like the Amandine, the Diplomat and the Savarine. The kremschnit (Napoleon pastry) is delicious also.
Excellent bakery for all your cake and cookie needs! Not like mom used to make...its better at Nitas! If youre having friends over for dinner, you cant go wrong with one of the cakes that Nita offers. They are all delicious and will leave you wanting a second slice! Im a chocolate lover and have a hard time deciding between the Dantela and the Joffre. For a lighter cake, try the Mango Mousse. Thy are all amazing cakes. If you are looking for a traditional bakery that knows what they are doing, look no further than Nitas European Bakery.
That is not too many Romanian bakeries in Queens so this is one of the best which I love to go and indulge on my memories from home because there will always prepare the home made bakes they have a nice variety of fun homemade panettone and many more sweets , you can have a nice coffee and start sampling some of their stuff as you make up your mind if you going to order a cake or panettone and they make amazing miniatures of pastries and pies.

2022-02-12The poppy cake wasnt too sweet and had a nice spice note. I intend to come back and try some other pasteries on display should I find the chance to pass by.Its still cash only.

2021-01-25This is a lovely bakery with affordable prices. The ladies behind the counter are really nice and kind. This place is cash only and the assortment of pastries is huge. I got two big squares of pecan pie plus a dantela cake for 6$ to celebrate my dads birthday. Delicious. Even their packaging is cute.

2022-03-05The staff here are very friendly. They were eager to ask me what I wanted to order and I didnt know. Everything they have looks fantastic, but I eventually decided on the chocolate mousse. They do only take cash, which is a mild inconvenience but something to keep in mind.

2022-01-27This place was good. I wanted to love this place. Who doesnt want to have another bakery to go too.I went in ordered a cake asked how much she said 25. I said ok then she said 35. What? Why more? Didnt understand but took it anyway.I had to order cookies cause they looked good. One that stood out was chocolate dipped sandwich cookies they were great. The others were ok.The cake was good. But I go to some really good italian bakeries that charge less for a cake that size and tastes better. But if you live in the area hey its not bad. Youll probably enjoy it!!

2021-12-24I grew up with this bakery. As a Romanian living in the neighborhood it really means a lot that they’ve been up and running for so many years and have not changed their exquisite recipes. I hope they never close, this is a place that extends through generations. The staff is wonderful and all the baked goods are just amazing. There is always a line going out the door down the block the day before Christmas- all Romanians waiting to buy their Cozonaci! :D

2021-11-17If you are going there to check out what they have, make sure you give yourself enough time. There are many delicious baked goods here, including cakes, cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries. These items, however, are not labelled with names but with numbers Because of this, you will need to ask the staff there what each item is but the staff is very patient and explained each item I asked about. Good quality baked items overall for a good price.I am not sure why but they happen to have menus of other nearby businesses on display (I picked up a restaurant menu here).
