No 1 Chinese Restaurant in other cities:
I ordered fried Chinese dumplings for my 13 year old son. I order weekly from this restaurant and this was not the first time they got my order wrong. This was the first time I called to explain that the order was wrong. He tells me it’s the same thing whether fried or steamed. No kidding. I ordered them fried. He said I could fry them but he’s busy so there’s nothing he can do about it. Last order I’m placing with this restaurant. No use in adding extra info in the part that they provide for any special instructions like napkins and forks. Doesn’t matter, they don’t read it or comply. So, I’m done. I’ll be going to their competition from now on.No.1 Chinese is not worth their prices.
Worst experience ever. I ordered from Grubhub and the order took an hour and half to deliver less than 3 miles away on a Wednesday night around 8:15pm i ordered. Also, the food arrived cold and an order of fried dumplings I ordered was missing. I called and asked for it to be sent to me or a refund, but no the lady that picked up the phone was very rude to me and yelled we are busy now, like for sure it’s 9:40pm and the store in about close soon. She replied to me called Grubhub and asked them for a refund. I said to her I work for a pizzeria and we do Grubhub and the refunds come from the restaurant not Grubhub with mistakes on an order. Then she hung up the phone. This is uncalled for and poor customer service. WE WOULD NOT BE RETURNING HERE.
They have comprehension issues & charge extra for seafood & poultry now that it went up for them. They are FORCING people to pay a tip instead of charging a delivery fee. Times are hard yes but you choose to have your business open during these hard times. Unbelievable I would give them 0 stars if I could.
Before for delivery they had a limit of $15 (which I already thought was ridiculous) and now the limit for takeout is $20. A meal for myself does not cost $20. So instead I now order my food from China Wok. Their restaurant is just as close, just as good and the limit for delivery is only $10. Also, no. 1 has poor customer service. Instead of telling the customer nicely they have a limit of $20, they rudely just demand you order more food until you cancel your order or meet their demands. I’ll probably never order from here again unless it’s for a large group of people. Usually when I order for my family of five the total comes out to $40. So I still fail to understand why I have to spend $20 on takeout for one, when that’s how much I’d usually spend to sit down and be waited on at an actual restaurant.
No. 1 is the best Chinese in the area. Hands down, the service is always speedy and efficient. The food is always HOT and FRESH, I have devout loyalty for a great place like this. Everyone is always friendly and I like how they remember your order, some times you have to call on a fly and it adds the up most convenience
Good food fast delivery, but unfortunately they messed up when they stole our credit card number and put a bunch of fraudulent charges on it. We had a bad feeling ordering online from them and watched the card right after ordering and lo and behold we start getting scam charges almost immediately afterwards (first time this has ever happened to us). Dont order online or trust these scumbags at all.
#1 has been in the take out game for a VERY long time. They pretty much have the game on lock in the Peekskill area. Hands down has been the best Chinese (as far as taste... Not as far as selection of dishes...) For over 10 years. So... If youre ordering take out then, #1 is a nice go-to spot of reference.
Do Not Order!I’ve ordered from this place several times never had an issue. But after today never again. I always order the steamed shrimp & broccoli. Well when I opened the container today there was a foul odor. I thought it may be the broccoli since broccoli sometimes have a gassy smell, I moved all the broccoli which was sitting on top of the shrimp sort of like hiding, & realized the shrimps had a yellow discoloration & very slippery. I picked one up & smelled it, it smelled like straight ammonia. I threw it out. I had to wash my hands twice to get the odor off my finger. Called the store & got no where. No help no sorry. Completely normal to them.
I grow up in the Bronx, and I really miss the Chinese food there. I moved to Peekskill 2 years ago, and have ordered from three local Chinese restaurants. This is an honest review of no.1 Chinese restaurant. Not in any specific order:1. They deliver their food promptly, and its always hot.2. Their menu is very affordable.3. Food is always very tasty, and fresh.4. They have a tendency to over cook the chicken on occasion.5. 4 - 5 times, you will get a good portioned plate. Every now and then, very cheap.6. They dont always deliver the food, in the way you order it. Examples: You order shrimp, and ask for tartar sauce. The person on the phone will say, We dont have that here. A week ago, they sent three packets. You ask for no vegetables on your fried rice. Again. Every now and then, they slip up.I give them 4 stars, When comparing to other take out restaurants.
Fast & friendly. Walked in to order soup & white rice since my stomach is sick. Sadly, they thicken their egg drop soup, which is highly recommended by friends, with flour so celiacs & gluten-free folks beware. The chicken broth was average; gratefully, not greasy for my twisted tummy. Lastly, the white rice seemed “water logged” & “off”

2022-08-21Its Chinese take out so there are no major expectations; I ordered basic wing and fries. My food was edible with minimal seasonings. I asked for salt and pepper packets. There were none. Had to request disposable utensils and napkins also which should be a given with a take-out order.I asked for my fries to be crunchy and they were not crunchy at all. Its Chinese takeout so I do not expect much more than something edible.

2022-07-16The employees were extremely friendly even at almost closing time. My house Chow Mei Fun in White sauce was delicious. My husband had the Chicken and Broccoli that was so tender that I snuck a piece. Thank you for the amazing dinner.

2021-09-07Great Chinese food to satisfy that random craving you know you get and cannot defeat until you order Chinese food! Also they forgot something really small on our order and were literally the best about it (not only offering to deliver the missing item but when we said dont worry about it they gave us a credit)! we will definitely will continue to support them!

2020-06-20I’m not sure what’s worse..the service or the food. Since when does a large, dinner size chicken and broccoli not feed a 7 year old? All they did was sneak about 6 pieces of shredded chicken into a large container of broccoli. The best part was they’re very rude response...”you have to pay for extra chicken”. Why would I pay extra for the appropriate amount of chicken? I decided to let it go and feed my son some sesame noodles that we ordered. Unfortunately it was just noodles with a small teaspoon size (no exaggeration) of sauce. So I called back. The woman on the phone yelled at me and told me I had to ask for extra sauce, and than said if I don’t like they’re food to not order from them again, and than hung up on me. I wish I read previous reviews warning about the service and quality. You would think during this epidemic they would be appreciative of people ordering take out to help these businesses survive. It really is shame and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

2019-06-02We have been ordering from no 1 for more than 10 years and we love them. Really consistent with their food and order is always right! They let us know if they r busy n running late on deliveries, otherwise fast delivery and great service. Good deals for platters and lots of healthy options; brown rice, steamed dishes, sauce on side etc.

2017-02-08Ive only ever ordered take out from here and have never actually stepped foot in the restaurant. However, this is the only Chinese food that I can eat that doesnt make me sick. Their food is always consistently good. Their staff is very friendly, our delivery guy, who is always the same guy, even remember us when we moved. Hes so pleasant! They are quick to deliver and have never forgotten an item.
