John and his team were thorough, honest, and explained everything that was involved in doing my transmission replacement. I felt that I was in extremely competent hands and will recommend them to everyone.The multi-point inspection with pictures was extremely helpful. They went out of their way to get me the best transmission for my vehicle and the installation was done in the timeframe at at the cost that they had estimated. I truly feel that I am in good hands and will continue to service my car there in the future.
This was my first time using North Road Auto and I will definitely be coming back. They provided me with an online written report with the results of their check-up, and gave me fair information about which work was critical and which was optional given what they were seeing—they even called and said that some work that we were considering wasnt necessary given their inspection. Honest, good work at a good price—what more could you ask for?
The people were very nice. They did a detailed inspection of my car took pictures and let me know exactly what was needed to be done. This full inspection cost 30.00 but worth it. They send you a link and you can see exactly what is going on with your car. I recommend this location to anyone looking to get they car fixed.
They were the most communicative Auto Center I have ever dealt with in my life! Confirmation emails, digital pictures of parts that were inspected, text message receipts and they were true to their word when they said we would be out of there at a specific time. The owner and his wife work together and take pride in delivering the best service that you can imagine, and beyond. You cannot go wrong with this shop. 5 stars all the way (and I am not one to be easily impressed or submit reviews. But the service at this shop was stellar).
I will miss North Road Auto. I started using them while working in Poughkeepsie. Great communication. Fair prices on the work. You will know exactly what is wrong and the cost to repair. They always squeezed me in. Would highly recommend!

I can always trust my car is in great hands when I drop it off at North Road. John and his staff are great and really communicative keeping me looped into to any work that might be done along with a whole explanation so I can understand what needs fixing why and what it affects. If it weren’t for North Road Auto I don’t know if my car would still be running after all these years! 10/10 would recommend!
A true family business with the owner has a lot of knowledge very informative . I found what they did for me which was check my 2 tires front driver and rear driver to be flat. They put a plug in my rear driver tire that was losing air and just sprayed a foam on the other one. The on the passenger side the rear tire was fine put the front had a screw in it but did not put a hole in the tire so it was just sprayed with foam. My total bill was $60.00 for which $1:50 cents was a tire plug and I believe 2 hours of labor. I did not want to say anything but it was in my option very expensive and my bill should have been about $37.00 total. I called keep dealership and they told me that “ they really saw me coming” I felt highly insulted and felt they took advantage of me . I wish I could say I would go back but if they charges me that much for a tire check up I can’t imagine what would happen if I had serious problems with my car. I must say their work is very very good but they are just as their work very expensive! And I felt robbed for what they did.
Really appreciate the time and care taken to explain everything to me detail by detail. I never felt rushed or pressured to spend money on any service. (All so important to me as a female driver) Detailed reports are emailed or sent through text so you can see everything your car needs. Excellent place to take your car to for anything. Amazing people here. You won’t be sorry if you take your car here for any work.
My husband & I, my mom & a close friend of our family have all been doing business with John for years! He is trustworthy, friendly & genuinely a great person!This time, John rescued us, as I had just left a doctors appointment & was ready to go home! My cars shifter wouldnt shift!! I had the car towed to Johns shop & he had his guys work on it as soon as their very busy schedule allowed.The ONLY reason I did not give a 5 star rating, was because of the cost. For us, being on a fixed income, an unexpected car bill is never easy! I do believe, though, that John is fair in his pricing & that his prices reflect the local norm. While North Road auto was our “go to “ repair shop for 15 years, last week our car had a malfunction that made the carUn- driveable. We had to park it at the nearest repair shop, where it sat for 4 days, seriously attempting to scam us. We finally had it towed to John at NRA, and it was repaired same day.Will NEVER go anywhere else! Thank you John and team!
I go to college right near North Road Auto and the owner John is very accommodating. He is fair, honest and reasonable and make sure my car is fixed to the best of his ability. He even stayed open an hour past close for me to make sure my car was done the day I needed it!
John and his staff were awesome to work with. He coordinated a battery replacement with my daughter who is a college student while communicating all costs with me in another state. He made sure her oil was also changed and performed a comprehensive check on everything else. His pricing was very reasonable. Very comforting to know my daughter was so well taken care of.😀
This was my first time here and it was very smooth scheduling an appointment. I was able to drop off my car in the morning and pick up at the end of the day. The owner dealt directly with me while checking out and was very pleasant, and went the extra mile to explain all the work done, including sending a text with pictures of my car while it was being worked on. I am a new customer and was a bit untrusting thinking they may try to tell me I needed windshield wipers, a bulb was out or brakes which I knew I did not need any of this work. I found that they are honest and trustworthy. Also found John, the owner l, professional and friendly. I will continue to do business with them.

Came in on a Thursday to inquire about getting four new tires as I had just got a flat. They werent to get me in until the following Wednesday but that was ikay because I had a solid donut and they were booked because it was the end of the month. Service was completed quickly and the staff is extremely professional and nice.

I am very surprised of negative reviews on here because I am ALWAYS satisfied when I leave North Road Auto. John, the owner, is a great to work with and always explains things in great detail about issues with my car and answers any questions I have. I have never had to pay a penny over an esitmate he has given and the work is always done on time. His mechaincs are fast and detailed and have been at the shop since I started going a couple years ago. I will always go to North Road Auto and would recommend to anyone to go!!
John has implemented a new feature on his already stellar car care practice and that is a computer generated report on the your car health. They should have this for humans. But you can see exactly what needs to be fixed right away and what can be pushed down the road a bit. Excellent ! If you need to buy a used car and want to know what kind of shape its in, have John check it out.
SWINDLED..... $60.44 to plug ONE tire!!!! Staff was friendly but I could’ve gotten my tire fixed at a dealership for cheaper. Lesson learned, I will get a cost estimate upfront. Although the week prior when I stopped by and asked one of the employees outside on their smoke break the cost to plug a tire, I was told $35.
North Road Auto is a great place to have your car kept in proper working order. Their staff is courteous and get the job done a.s.a.p. which is helpful in this day. I advise all my friends to have any vehicle work done there.

I started bringing my car to North Road Auto over the summer; I had just moved to the area and in the chaos of moving, had forgotten to get my car inspected. The shop owner accommodated my urgency and gave me a fair price for quality tires when it turned out I needed two new ones. Since then, a few problems have cropped up with my car (its 17 years old, so its bound to happen) and each time Ive brought it here. The shop owner takes the time to explain the reasoning behind why something has gone awry, gets the best price for parts, and the mechanics do quality work I know I can trust. I wouldnt bring my car anywhere else!

I was so fortunate to have found this place in such a pinch. I looked down and somehow didn’t realize I was 1,000+over my oil change. Ive been living in Poughkeepsie for 16 years from the Bronx and I recommend Mike and his guys to give you an honest quote and the fairest prices. I have two cars and my wife and I have been to just about all the service stations within a 10 mile radius. Since the new management at North Road weve been very fortunate and appreciate these guys being so close to our home and the accommodations they make to service our vehicles usually at inappropriate times, they take care of our cars at a fair price. I took my 2009 Acura RDX to John Jaeb because it had a terrible rattling sound underneath . I went online and it said it could be the catalytic converter and I researched it and they cost around $1000 to replace . John and Jesse diagnosed it and found out it just needed a $10 worm drive clamp on the heat shield to quiet it down and it only took a half an hour or so of labor . They are honest and technically astute and always explain everything that they do in language I can understand . They come highly recommended ....

Very mentally and financially painful experience. My trusted repair shop changed ownership recently and has now forced me to try North Road Auto. I have never paid so much for so little work and worst of all, I dont think his high school aged crew has the experience or quality to justify the amount charged. I felt like I was getting discount dental work done by a bunch of student doctors and the fake personality behind the counter with his hand out did not make me feel any better. I did not leave feeling confident my car troubles are over....*In response to the owner: Not sure who you were during this whole transaction but if I met you, I wasnt aware of it. Anyone who uses their real name online is just asking for trouble but that doesnt mean that I shouldnt warn people of poor business practices. By the way, you have mistaken me with someone else as I did not have any lights on, nor did I get an inspection. Thanks for the follow-up though, I appreciate it.

I was asked by the owner if he could take my car home to Pleasant Valley, where he could work on it over the weekend. At first, I was delighted by such dedication. That is, until he returned my car to me on Monday having put 200 MILES on it.What a fraud! Clearly, he feels that he can joyride any car in his care.Update: The owners response to my review is completely false. The fact that he has already admitted to putting 200 miles on my car, and is now attempting to fabricate an entirely new mileage, only goes to show how dishonest this business is.

I would never go here, even if I broke down in front of them. My car had a check engine light go off and to just see what the codes were they wanted 30 dollars! Who does that? For 2 second to plug a hand held machine into the car to charge for that?Go down the road to chickery auto and they did it for free and told me what to do to fix it.North road auto is a rip off.
If you are a parent with a child away at college in Poughkeepsie this is the place to deal with. As someone who worked in the automobile business for over 30 years I hate dealing with most repair shops. They are usually incompetent, unprofessional and spend more time trying to sell things people dont really need and then overcharging for it. North Road Auto was completely the opposite. When my daughter had an issue with her vehicle while at Marist College I happened to be out of state and dreaded the thought of having a stranger work on her vehicle. After making a few phone calls I was fortunate enough to speak to John at North Road and decided to have him repair my daughters Jeep. I cannot praise him enough! Not only was he professional and courteous, the work was fairly priced and they also treated my daughter well and kept both of us up to date on the progress and completion of repair. They even texted her when the vehicle was ready and allowed me to make payment over the phone. I sleep better at night knowing North Road Auto is across the street from her college if she needs them. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Went in for an inspection thinking I may need a new catalytic converter based on what I was told by a Toyota dealership. Not according to North Road Auto I dont. A few LED lights needed to be replaced and it was a bigger job than usual for them because of my car, which is a 2005 Rav4, but the total for everything was something like $54. I had been away from NY for about a year and my inspection was overdue. I had some of anxiety about it because I was moving back to Brooklyn and didnt think it would be a good idea to head into the city to get it done there. I searched Google for an inspection station in Fishkill, which was along the way, and North Road Auto came up first. Im so glad it did. Poughkeepsie is an interesting little town. Ill make the trip up next time for sure. Cant go wrong here. Not a chance.
You showed the Toyot Service Dprtment to be careles and dangerous Sham.You quickly saw their stupid error and fixed it before I s forced to go out on the road gain without any brakes. I feel as though I owe you m life!

I just recently bought a used car and it had some issues. I initially brought my car in for my NY safety but they found some issues with my car. Adam was amazing! He helped me figure out the best option for my vehicle and my situation. I had to replace the transmission. They did the repairs for me very quickly and my car is running great. I highly recommend giving them a chance. They are an awesome business!

2022-05-24I was recommended a few months ago to John after my old mechanic told me that my trucks engine needed to be replaced and would cost at least $10,000. I was not hopeful at all that I would get a different response. John not only did hours of research for me in case we had no other alternative but to buy another engine, but after diagnosing the truck he came up with an alternate plan, and it worked!! The truck is running beautifully! We have since used them several times, and both John and Adam are always professional , honest, and extremely knowledgeable about any issue our cars may be having. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great mechanic!

2021-07-29Really great place with great people. This is the first time that I’ve brought my car to a mechanic that was honest and really took care of what I asked for. Everyone that works there is great and prices are really good for the quality of work you get. Not to mention that my car work was done in a timely manner too! The first time I went in I was able to get squeezed in to get work done and still had my car back at the end of the day. Definitely will be returning for any future work and I’d highly recommend to anyone!

Friendly, honest and didn’t charge an arm and a leg.They take pictures of the issues and send you a report before you decide to make any repairs, which really should be standard at any auto shop.These guys do it right. 2021-01-09I have used North Road Auto in the past for a few cars that I had. More recently, I used them because all of my rear lights were out and I just had it inspected a week prior by my car dealer. They took me in right away without any questions and gave me the inspection report with pictures which I thought was pretty amazing!! When they were done, they fixed my issue and explained thoroughly what had happened. John was super nice and you certainly dont feel like youre being ripped off. 5 star service!!

The associate I spoke to on the phone was able to change it quickly.On the day of the appointment, I arrived and found out said associate didnt update the changes. But, the staff at North Road were still able to see me for my state inspection.Upon further inspection, they saw that my brake pads were close to failing. My records on the car supported that. After an hour wait (when they said it would take 90 minutes), everything was completed.
