Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care in other cities:
The staff at this urgent care center is the best there is. When the PA came in to go over my Covid test which was negative, I had told him I was feeling soreness like muscle pain in the chest area and wondered if it had been because my workout the day before were too intense. He took my blood pressure and saw how elevated it was and did an EKG. He explained that I was having some sort of “heart event” and that he wanted to contact the ambulance and rushed me to the hospital. He saved my life. I started crying and he was so kind as well as other urgent care staff who came in to give me a hug and hold my hand. Stephanie in particular was just wonderful and she told me everything was going to be all right and gave me a hug. I was admitted into the cardiac care unit at the hospital after a few hours of monitoring at the ER, the cardiologist confirmed that I had had a heart attack, and I underwent surgery in which a stent was inserted into the artery. None of this would’ve been possible had it not been for the PA and the staff at the urgent care center realizing that something was very, very wrong.
The receptionist at the front desk is RUDE! Disgusting attitude. And I am sure it is the same women who is rude on the phone as well. Furthermore if your rapid PCR test not working it would be nice to tell patients in advance! Travel plans depend on these tests! And you know how difficult it is to make an appointment with the demand is what it is!
Completely rude, unprofessional, and ignorant receptionist who thinks it’s ok to let people with ear infections stand outside in the cold for 45 minutes. Jennifer Ayala does not deserve to be employed in the medical field, she is completely indifferent to patient’s symptoms, rude, unprofessional, has a nasty attitude and overall is just the worst employee I’ve ever encountered in a medical setting. Absolutely shocking that they still employ her and defend her actions.
I want to thank the Dr. Edward Loscalzo for finding me referrals to follow-up with for my condition and for validating my experience. I wish more doctors were like him. In my opinion, this is the best urgent care in NYC, and I will never go anywhere else. They always go above and beyond to help patients and make them feel comfortable. If they cannot help your situation, they always advise on what steps to take next to get the help you need.
It was such a great experience! Professional, friendly and I felt very comfortable and safe! I also got my results so quickly, sooner than expected. They also contacted my physician who had recommended your location. She called me because she heard from them and I told her how pleased I was that she had recommended this location. These are certainly very stressful times and it was great that I could go somewhere that made it all so seamless and made me feel so safe! Ive since recommended it to others who felt the same way.
Front desk didnt bother to ask severity of my condition, or what condition I had at all. Immediately said I needed an appointment, then said I couldnt book one in-person with him, then said the (clearly empty it was 9am) office was completely booked for the day. Urgent care does not mean -urgent- care with the front desk.Called the next closest urgent care, of course they accept walk-ins because thats the entire point of urgent care.Save your time if youre experiencing anything that needs immediate attention.
Today I was twice(!) left hanging by their inaccurate and inefficient sign up system and didn’t get seen. Scheduling at midnight booked me accidentally for the next day (but I was getting text confirmations?) and in person a guy with the notepad signed me up for something that confirmed me for 9pm - after they closed!! Their technology doesn’t work and was very anxiety producing. I ended up going to citymd where I was able to quickly get scheduled, seen and treated. Don’t bother with their bureaucracy and lines. Go to city md.
This was one of the most friendly and helpful medical staff I have ever encounter. They were the epitome of professionals. I went in for the COVID test and they talked me through all of it. The nurses we kind and friendly. And the doctor took time to talk to me afterwards and never made me feel rushed. He answered every question honestly and it was very informative. I will definitely go back to this location for any of my family’s future urgent care needs.
Perfect experience here getting COVID tested prior to travel to Hawaii. Made an appointment online 72 hours in advance on their website easily. Was taken quickly upon arriving. At every step of the way everyone knew about the Hawaii program which made me feel much more comfortable. Results in
I chose Northwell after experiencing multiple misdiagnoses at other urgent care centers. My experience was amazing! Everyone was extremely caring and asked important and relevant questions. I checked in online and was seen exactly on time. The doctor was very thorough and gave me very helpful recommendations. I was very satisfied with my visit.
Dr. Weinberg was excellent. He diagnosed my very painful condition quickly and prescribedthe right treatment regimen. His people skills were excellent as well.Equally, Northwell’s nurse and physician’s assistant were most helpful and efficient. They too helped make my short visit as easy as they could.Excellent medical care, a short waiting time, and a confidently delivered, positive outcome.
Nothing short of amazing !The gentleman at the front desk was very polite and friendly , very quick check in .The medical assistant was very accommodating and also friendly , she noticed i had a migraine and turned the lights , which helped tremendously. The Doctor listened and was very empathetic , told me what meds he would be prescribing and why .I wouldn’t hesitate to go back .Office is well lit , clean and ventilated .
I was in and out very quickly. From beginning to end, from scheduling the walk-in to being seen and treated to the doctor was honestly the best experience Ive had, especially compared to the other clinic options. The office was clean and modern, the staff was all very friendly, and Steven Kapinos has stellar bedside manners. Had my problem solved and left feeling better. Go here, UES!
I wish I could rate them higher. I walked in with a horrible cut on my hand that needed five stitches (a lot for my tiny hand) and they treated me RIGHT away! The PA Steve was the most professional and nicest EVER. He explained everything to me clearly so I could understand what he was about to do. The staff was SO nice. Do not hesitate to come here.
I was very happy with my experience at Northwell. I went for a returning cold that I had over 2 months. The nurse practitioner who saw me was very knowledgeable about my precondition MS and prescribed just the right meds. I saw my neurologist shortly after, he said he would have done the same. The entire staff was courteous and Id definitely would go back. And they accepted my insurance 😊
I want to say a sincere and heartfelt Thank You to PA Edward and the wonderful women who took my vitals and my X-rays on Tuesday night. I had a broken arm and was frightened and in terrible pain and you all made me feel safe and cared for. I appreciate that you stayed well past closing time to help me. I appreciate your care and will always remember your kindness and professionalism.THANK YOU!!
Went in with extreme abdominal pain and was told that it was definitely just a stomach bug and that I should give it 2 or 3 days. 6 hours later I decided to ignore the “professional” advice and I went to the hospital. I’m now sitting at home without my appendix. Not only was it a waste of time and money coming to this establishment but it proved to be dangerous. The Surgeons let me know that if I had followed to advice given to me at Northwell Urgent Care on 81st St & 1st Ave, my appendix would’ve more than likely ruptured. Would be great for places like this to find a dr or two that could actually admit they don’t know something rather than putting lives at risk.
Advertises as a walk-in testing place, but they send you back outside to sign-up online. Their website has trouble geo-locating you and makes it as difficult as possible to sign up. I signed-up for an immediate appointment, but when I went inside they said I had signed up for an appointment 3 days from now. So, just switch it I said, but they replied--ha, ha, ha, ho, ho, ho!-that they were too busy. Place was so empty the dust motes could be counted. Place was so empty the voice of the one doctor echoed. Avoid. Not a working testing center.
Billed triple what I expected...The doctor and staff were professional and provided good service, but my experience with the billing was unacceptable. When I visited their offices, I had my vitals taken and a prescription for an antibiotic, to help my apparent sinus infection. no other services were rendered. The reason I visited this facility is their prices were available on their website, and the cash price would be a maximum of $160. The small print indicated these prices are for non-insured patients. The website also suggested prices for insured patients would be lower. The staff insisted on going through my insurance company even though I had a deductible.I find out later northwell bilked my insurance company for $526, and rightfully my insurance company declined that charge. So, several months later, they tried to bill me $526. After speaking to them on the phone, I got the charge down to $375. They insisted this is a new patient charge and is not negotiable. I paid the amount but will not be using this provider again and vowed to share my story here.
I was seen by a young physician assistant who completely dismissed my symptoms and told me I had the flu. I am a physician. I have never took a day off for the flu or cold. I have never visited an urgent care center before but it was the weekend and my doctor was away on vacation. It turned out I had Lyme disease and lost 3 weeks before I could initiate treatment. My suggestion for all PA who see patient in urgent care “listen to your patients!!!” People are busy and don’t go to urgent cares for fun! My suggestion for patients “request an MD to evaluate you, especially when your symptoms are dismissed!”
I highly recommend the Northwell urgent care facility on 82nd St. and 2nd Ave. in New York City.I have been there twice in the past six months and both times I received prompt and excellent treatment. My wait time was short and the staff was friendly and helpful.I thought the doctor was terrific.
In and out so quickly with the ability to make an appointment beforehand! Especially in the time of covid, this is such an important factor. The office is spotless, the staff highly professional and kind. Always feel better upon going and get results quickly. Highly recommend!
This urgent care is very convenient for me. I’ve been here a few times and was pleased with the level of care when I saw the MD. This past week I went in because something had fallen on my foot several days prior. I was in some pain when I put pressure on it. The PA was cautious and asked for X-rays. He told me that he didn’t see anything major but was required to send them to radiology and I would get a call shortly. Four days later I had not heard from anyone. I called the center and spoke to a curt young man who said there was no fracture or dislocation (exactly what the PA told me). I asked if there was bruising and he repeated what he said initially. He proceeded to say it was probably a sprain. I honestly don’t believe the X-rays were sent anywhere. My foot is sill hurting and a sprain is not the result of an impact. I’m angry and disappointed. I have to elsewhere to have it rechecked.
Excellent experience this morning at this walk-in clinic / urgent care facility on 1st Ave and 81st. Paperwork/intake was extremely quick and efficient (i.e. just the essentials). Facility is beautiful and clean. The young man who greeted me and handled my intake and vitals was thoroughly professional and also very pleasant. The doctor that I saw, Dr. Jonathan Zipkin, really could not have been more pleasant in his manner, effective in addressing my concerns, or informative in his answers. He had tons of time for me, and encouraged questions and follow-up by phone/email after the visit. His diagnosis and treatment recommendations were totally clear, sensible, and coherent. Highly recommend both the facility and specifically the individuals I saw today, especially Dr. Zipkin.
Did a telemedicine session to obtain an appointment for a COVID test. Then went to center and took the test. Gave me little confidence as staff seemed unprofessional, even had to ask that the nurse wear a mask. Ten days later they have lost the test. Hours of time and more than a week delay lost. They show zero concern about having lost the test, suggested I start the process over. No apology even. This is how these new operators get a bad name. Go to CityMD instead.
I had a fall in the street and twisted my ankle. I was afraid it was a broken bone. I went to the 81 st location. They took me right away, took my vitals, and then an x-ray which did show a broken bone. The doctor gave me a very good splint ( like a removable cast) and crutches. They gave me a CD of the x-ray and a copy of the report. I was very satisfied and happy I didnt have to go to the emergency room and wait 5 hours.
Dr. Zipkin was great. He made me feel like he cares and was very thorough in his care. I was also very impressed how he handled an emergency situation that arrose while I was waiting to be seen. But the staff leader Kenton is top notch. The professional and gentle way he does his job convinced me that I made the right choice. Northwell Urgent Care on 1st Ave & 81st Street is a New York City lifesaver.
This is my second time there and from my phone calls... the nurses and the doctor are all kind and very attentive to my daughters needs as well as follow up calls. I will continue to go there. I have already bragged to those i know how amazing urgent care is. Thank you.
I came there for an illness that I was worried was contagious and I was well accommodated. Look and feel was definitely amazing. Especially considering I didnt spend a dime to be there. I love how streamlined everything was. I barely had to wait and all the staff were helpful. If it wasnt out of my way Id go there for all my needs.
Worse experience and place, Been there 16th of this month for stomach pain, they couldnt find whats wrong with me, they said they will refer me to a doctor, wait and the doctor will call me.Ive received any call from anyone, week later, I called the clinical member, disrespectful arrogant unprofessional guy picked up, I explained my situation, he said someone is gonna call me, 2 days later I called, been put on hold for 30mn, i called clinicall member again following day, even worse, her name is linda, i askef for managers name and contact, gave me wrong info. Finally call the receptionist I believe, her name is Nicole, she checked and said to be honest with you, the referral didnt go through or they made a mistake, but she made sure it went throug this time I just dont understand how 2 people would lie to me about my health situation, this is so personnel to me and unacceptable, me and anyone I know will not go to this urgent care anymore, Im a student at Hunter college by the way for the continuing education program in digital marketing, I know how to use social, Ill expose you and your employee except Nicole who is an honest person who Care about people life.
This place sucks. I had my blood taken for no reason. They told me I have brocheites and sent my local pharmacy a cough suppressant. Which had no affect on my coughing. I later went to a SERIOUS doctor and told me that because of the medication having no affect I was in danger to more serious health issues. The doctors have no clue what their doing as their supposed to do.
Thank you for your quick response with an EKG, as my pain was so severe that I thought I was having a heart attack! The doctor was able to rule that out right away as a result, and was able to diagnose me properly. Thank you for your thorough response to the pain I was in🙏🌺
Went in for anti-biotics for a sinus infection that I knew, if not taken care of, would blow up into Bronchitis. Dr. did not feel the infection warranted medication and sent me home with the instructions to use nasal spray, Tylenol, and water. 10 days later in the ER with guess what, BRONCHITIS! I know my body and Dr. Z just didnt trust his patient.
Brought in my baby on a Sunday, and the PA said he was sending a prescription for antibiotics to my pharmacy. When I got to the pharmacy, no prescription. Called the office, it was five minutes after closing and no one picked up. Called the main Northwell Urgent Care line, was told cant help. Such gross incompetence.

2022-05-24Went there as I cut myself very badly and the guy did a great job stitching me up… But when I went back out the stitches out they didn’t have time they were rude and the woman at the desk couldn’t get off her phone long enough to help me. This is what you call good health. Try to make an appointment to get the stitches out and they’re booked up so actually my dentist took them out of my finger as they were well ready to come out. Don’t Go there they don’t know what they’re doing.

2022-05-21I have been to this location a few times and never had issues until my visit yesterday. I made a 5:45 PM appointment for a Covid test. I arrived around 5:40 PM and the receptionist told me they were very busy and it would be 20 to 25 minutes. After waiting over half an hour I asked if I would be seen anytime soon and was told it would be another hour or hour and a half and “it had been like this all day.“ When I incredulously confirmed that all of a sudden the wait had shot up by an hour+, the receptionist became very rude with me and told me “we’re not just a swab and go facility“. I was very confused because I did not see one other person while I was there and staff were walking around like they had nowhere to be. I made a comment that there didn’t seem to be any other patients there and she said to me very rudely “how do you know there’s no one else here?“ I never write negative reviews but I was put off by her rude attitude. If they had truly been running behind the entire day, I either should’ve been called or told when I arrived it would be two hours past my appointment time before I could be seen. Or, when they realize the wait was going to be much longer than they had originally told me, they should’ve told me instead of just leaving me to sit there and wait until I asked. I will not be coming back.

2022-07-28The PA and the team didn’t pay attention to diagnose and fail to throat swab. And they repeated same COVID test and didn’t send the prescription to the pharmacy I had to change. My experience was terrible. Even though there are not many patients, the staff was unwelcoming.

2022-04-03My 27 year old son visited recently for tonsillitis. The PA who examined him apparently urged him to go to an emergency room, made him sign a form that he refused to take an ambulance to the hospital, that the tonsil had an abscess , scared him by saying if infection spreads to the other tonsil he would stop breathing in 1-2 days and have to get a permanent throat windpipe hole to breath...Lenox hill hospital said no abcess. I think the function of urgent care is just write the antibiotic prescription and send folks on their way with hope instead of scaring people aka bedside manner or just say immediately go to hospital we cant treat you, do you need help getting there and do it right away. An experienced professional should know in minutes on a visual exam without testing or temper the reaction due to inexperience and go with antibiotic- it wont kill someone. Which is what the current treatment is anyway.

2022-06-30I was misdiagnosed twice by two different doctors - both said I didnt have any kind of sinus infection. I just went to an ENT and sure enough bacterial infection.

2022-01-06I rarely write reviews but this place was wonderful. I went in last minute for a rapid covid test and was swiftly checked in by a kind receptionist. The nurse I had was incredibly sweet and accommodating- I wish I could remember her name! They have an on site lab so I was in and out within a half hour despite there being a line! I newly moved to the city and was so blown away by the care and level of professionalism I was met with at this Urgent Care.

2022-06-23Dr. Jonathan Zipkin was patient and explained to me about how to care for my injury. The front desk and medical staff were friendly too. Thanks.
