A modern looking comfortable hotel with a good location. The staff are friendly and maintenance is attentive. We had an issue with our tv and within 30 mins a pleasant engineer arrived and fixed it.Its located at the top of times square so you just have to walk down the road to get to all the main attractions on times square. With it being at the top its not too far a walk to Central Park. Its worth noting that theres a $34 a night tax to pay on check out and they require a card on checking in to reserve around $80 per night on it which is returned to you on check out minus anything charged to the room. The cleaners are great and give fresh towels and spruce up your room daily.Theres plenty of american channels playing sports, movies and programs for when you want to chill. The restaurant in there is quite pricey (even for New York) and although the food is a good quality Id eaten at better quality places for slightly less around time square and Manhattan. All in all a good stay.
Location location location! The only thing I would have changed were the toiletries - soap, shampoo and shower gel is a skimpy selection for this range of hotel. I would like to see hair conditioner and lotion (and slippers). Otherwise nothing to complain about. I hear breakfast was good and theres complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby in the mornings. Room was clean, there was a mini fridge for your own supplies and we got additional soft blankets.
Just returned from a 3-night novotel stay. i really like the location. from grand central @ a 25 minute walk to E 51 st.. the hotel has changed since my last stay there. enter the elevator to go up to the 7th floor lobby. the checkin was seamless. the assigned room, 2408, is a handicap room. ( not requested ). it offers a view of 7th av, and a peek at times square.the room has been done in dark tones of green. a nice sized room. there is a room safe , and a small fridge. also there is an iron and ironing board., and a small closet. there were no drawers. the bed , a king, was very comfy. nice bedding as well. the room is carpeted, a dark color. the bathroom has a barn door which was very hard to slide open/ closed. the bathroom was also done in dark tones. the trough sink was small. there was no counter space. the sink was made of a hard plastic. the shower was large ( handicap- roll in ), good water pressure from the rain head . we visited over the 4th of july - the ac worked very well. the novotel has re-worked the bar setup. there is an outdoor patio which offers a fantastic view of times square. a great spot for a cocktail. the rooms and common areas were very clean. overall a very good stay. i do think the furnishings could be improved upon. the room cleaning staff does a very good job. check out was also quick. we did not eat at the novotel .we got our stay at a good rate - . a very good mid-town stay. july 2018/ ct. jds.
I stayed at this hotel for a week and found it to be in the ideal location for walking around mid town Manhattan. The hotel itself is on the top floors of what looks like on office building so I have to take an elevator up to the lobby for check in then further up to your room. My room looked down on the Fridays restaurant and was ver spacious for a New York hotel room. It was clean and modern. The amenities were very good as was the room service which was rather surprisingly quick. Staff were very pleasant and the cleaning crew always polite and accommodating when I was not out of the room yet for them to clean. The rates are not cheap, but dont expect that from any hotel of this caliber in this location of NYC. It is the going rate. If you want to stay in the times Square area without walking out to the busy Times Square streets, then this hotel is a very good choice and only a minute walk to the heart of Times Square with all its attractions.
Good location. The bellman Juan is amazing as well as the front desk reception. Housekeeping is really bad. They barely clean your room, do not replenish toiletries and took 45 mins to bring us clean towels. Housekeeping even forwarded us to the front desk after 30 mins when we called to check. The rooftop terrace and drinks overlooking time square is great!
We were there for New Years Eve and after. Awesome views of times square. Hotel is nice and clean. Room was nice. We had the two double beds. The beds were two small to fit two adults. Two children or 1 adult each would be comfortable. There wasnt a microwave or coffee pot in the room. You had to ask for it. My husband asked for the coffee pot on day 1 of check in and they gave us a tea pot. He had to ask again and he didnt get the coffee pot until day 4. Breakfast buffet was good. The menu stays the same so if you are there for more than 1 night be prepared to eat the same breakfast food everyday. Bar and restaurant for lunch/dinner was good as well. Overall we had a nice stay.
Nice set up and view in the middle of time square supernova the bar has a terrace view. Not a rooftop but terrace. Pretty interesting. Looks modern and the morninf serving was perfect. In the evening 1 out of 3 bartenders were attentif and friendly. Odd system to print checks as you are stil drinking. I like my check when im done.Otherwise i had a nice dirty martini with ketel one olive suggested by the bartender from Ghana who was super nice and friendly and who literally made this review a 4 stars as it was about to b 3 or 2 for the first interaction i have at the bar lol. Ima difficult customer. I m sooo demanding and i expect terranga to ita best always lol. It was there. Keep that bartender for real.Thx
This hotel is AMAZING! The price given was way better than we had expected seeing we were located in the center of Time Square. Everything was at walking distance! The views are spectacular and breath taking. Staff was very polite and helpful. And the rooms had a very sophisticated look, from the Lower level, to the check in lobby... It was all OUTSTANDING! I loved it! I would definitely book again with them!
Friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. Staff were all eager to try and accommodate any special requests like not having change rooms in the middle of my stay. The beds are extremely comfortable and very quiet - though in the 2nd room I would have liked a softer pillow - but then I could have asked for that but never got around to it.Also I was surprised their was no hair conditioner in the bathroom as I had forgotten to bring mine. (You wouldnt have known there were events going on down in the restaurant.) Overall, hotel very conveniently located with a great bar, with seating looking over the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Easy walking distance to Central Park and all the places I needed to get to. I definitely got my steps up! Thank you for a lovely stay.
Wonderful hotel, friendly, helpful staff. We were here for 5 days on vacation this past week, we weren’t sure what to expect not having traveled to NYC before. What a pleasant surprise! Clean, comfy rooms! Ellie, the housekeeper on our floor was one of the sweetest ladies ever. All the employees we talked to were fabulous, we would definitely return.
Where do I start? First, I really liked the place. The place was beautiful , we had Times Square as a backdrop which was pretty cool. I did not like how the bathrooms where so few and so tight for such a big restaurant. I did not like the prices for the food. I ordered a Filet Mignon and paid $45 total, no drinks just tap water. My plate had the Filet and potatoes and some brussel sprouts and that was it. I did not feel I got my moneys worth. I know of way better restaurants which are not nearly as expensive. The waiter was almost rude and they charged the tip without asking.
Not too much good to say about this hotel and a feeling of disappointment overall with my stay. The only silver lining that I could find with this hotel is that the location, proximity to Times Square, is very good. In addition, there is a nice lounge with direct views of Times Square if that is of an interest to you. However, for a four star hotel, you definitely expect more than what you get. The interior of the rooms is dated and could use a set of fresh lights to accommodate the dimness. WiFi access continually didnt work and was difficult to connect to. Housekeeping seemed scarce and left dirty towels around the room. But really, what needs the most work is the bathroom itself. The bathtub is gross - like needs to be completely replaced gross. Discoloration and tiny, felt disgusting even stepping into it. Few toiletries provided, no conditioner for use in the shower.Honestly, would not recommend unless youre really looking for a Time Square view from a lounge. Much better hotels in New York.—-EDIT TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEWI never, never, never make edits to my reviews. I always stand 100% behind the original review and stand behind the postings. But this review did irk me slightly. Full transparency, the hotel has gone out of their way to accommodate the room in a more appropriate manner and has provided me with the items I did complain about, in addition to throwing in bottles of water, an apology note, and macaroons. But that’s not why I’m updating the review, honestly I feel that I’ve become accustomed to complaining behind a screen and not simply going to the lobby of a hotel, or a manager at a restaurant, or an owner of a service business. Had I simply gone to the front desk I believe the issues I listed could have been accommodated and that’s on me for not taking that step. Had the hotel not accommodated after a complaint, then it would be more prudent to leave the original review. For that reason and that reason alone I’m making this edit. Id actually like to extend my apologies to the hotel for not taking the initial step in real life and will certainly be more careful moving forward. Kudos to management for being proactive once the review was in place and thank you for that.
Location is great for times square events and access. Rooms were nice, ok bed. Pillows are not too supportive so bring your own. We had a lovely view. Great outside roof terrace to enjoy drinks or selfies lol. The drinks are $16 a cocktail but really good and big. Hotel staff is friendly and the guests are too. Most guests are actually from other countries which was cool. The bar area is nice. I enjoyed my stay.
Rooms are clean. Toilet is very very small... shower is literally shoulder width for example. Been here 4 nights now and staff forgot to clear the trash once. Disappointed that the alfresco bar area was closed for winter; hotel should make that clear on the website... I am sure its one of the main selling points when you enter the website. Air conditioning made a whoooop sound when on automatic and the thermostat switches it off.... loud enough to wake me up and turn it off. Location is very good... walking distance to theatres, Times Square, the Park etc. Was an OK stay... wont come back for this price.
I was very satisfied while staying here.Firstly, the location of this hotel was really good which was easy to move around NY by subway or you can walk easily to somewhere in midtown.Friendly staff, especially while checking in.Room condition was also good - clean and enough space to store the luggage.I would stay here again next time i visit NY 👍
I stayed here for business. The front desk/receptionists were extremely friendly and fluent in more than one language! Similarly, the bellmen were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were clean and mine had a mini-fridge, which was a nice amenity. The fast experience and ease of traveling made me want to stay again! I would recommend this hotel to people looking for an easy and quick stay in Times Square.
Great location i wouldnt stay here again though 2 nights out of 4 the restuarant was closed for private parties which is fine but they still took booking and the told sorry its closed and waiters just walk past you . Get up early if you want breakfast not a great choice compared too other hotels i have stayed in times sq once it had gone theres a long wait before anny more is brought. Overall good location pushy with making sure you tip them for everything.
Our stay was comfortable. The space was beautiful and clean. However things that could be improved:-answering the phone at the front desk when some one calls from room.-had a very long wait at bar and on balcony.-had a long wait at restaurant.Highly recommend this hotel for the time square view on the balcony alone. it is gorgeous.
Just ok. Dated rooms. Bar, common area had no character and did not feel inviting. Breakfast buffet was mediocre and definitely not worth the price. Place is decorated in modern/, nouveau style which I never liked anyway. Chamber maid was very nice and so was checking staff.
Very nice hotel, though the breakfast is not what I expect from that kind of place. Only very low quality tea ( yellow Lipton) very few choices, with no low fat corner nor gluten free. But very nice view direct on times square. The nice thing is the location and the size which is small enough to feel confortable.I have been coming for 10 years and I LL come back again. Please improve the breakfast !
Great location! The staff was great. I didnt try the food. It has a bar at the second lobby with great views. The gym look directly to Times Square. My room also had a great view to Times Square (20th floor) The location is fabulous, waking distance to different Subway lines, to Central Park, to Times Square, to the pharmacy, Starbucks, MoMA... Etc. The rooms arent the biggest ones but are well equipped and nice. I would be back definitely. I travel without kids, so I have no idea if this is a kids friendly hotel.
My husband and I plus two other couples stayed for the night. All three couples were given 3 corner rooms which was THE best room, with a view. Much appreciated! Loved the lobby and especially the outdoor bar area!! Wish breakfast was not so expensive as it was. We would of eaten there but not for that high price.Fun place to be with friends!
We have stayed here before. Everything satisfactory to very satisfactory. Good check-in people. Room fine except, there were four of us. I thought at least we would have queen beds but we had two doubles which were pretty tight for 4 adults. Beds and bedding were comfortable though.Guests should be told about getting their parking tickets stamped for excellent discount at the garage. I had to walk back to have it done.
Very nice room. Great views. Super attentive staff, when I left for breakfast my room was always cleaned when I got back, even if only gone for an hour. My only issue is that I indicated that I would arrive earlier than the normal check in due to my flight (arrived at noon), and was told I could not check in until 2. I came back at 1:45 and was told that it would be 45 more minutes and to wait in the lounge, which I did. Finally at 3:10 I went back to the front desk to check and was told that my room was ready. Other than that, its been a great stay so far.
Absolutely out of this world! Took my family into the city to celebrate my daughters sweet 16!! The staff was 1st class! From security to front desk to house keeping. All aces!! The atmosphere inside the lobby is electric. Video games for the kids, picture kiosk for capturing the memory and computer work stations to stay in touch. The restaurant Supernova is tops! They had my reserved table by the window. We had a breath taking view of Times Square at dinner. The food was amazing!! The waiters were always there, asking if we needed anything. We loved the attention. The room was spotless. Very comfy for my girls. Beds were soft and the view....awe inspiring. Bathroom was sparkling! Rain shower head!! Ordered room service at midnight...was up to our room in 20 mins. Location is perfect. Parking garage 100 yards away from front door. I cant say enough great things about this hotel. We are definitely not high rollers....but this hotel made us feel like we were!! It was a perfect weekend!!
Overall it was a good stay. The cleanliness was below average. The carpet was not clent on arrival nor the bathroom floor and stayed that way throughout our stay. We found the staff in the night less attentive and welcoming than day, but this is quite common. Otherwise everything was good. I think what needs to be improved is cleanliness. When there are several shopping tags on the carpet after the last client and it stays there, there has been no vacumer in the room. We dont mind thats why we didnt say anything, but it would be good to talk to the houskeeper of that room to make sure she does all her routine in the room. This might make us try another hotel next time.Location good, breafkast good, interior, design etc good!
Rooms are excellent. We were on the 30st floor. View is great and sound insulation is ok. My biggest negative point is the breakfast. You have to queue for getting a table (depend on hours). Its something that never ever happen to me in any hotel. Please Novotel... Find a way to fix it. A clue : maybe try to clean faster and communicate better. The 2 mornings 2 tables around us stayed empty for a while with dirty dishes only.
Stayed there with my granddaughter on our recent trip. The room was clean and nice. Our view ofBroadway thrilled my granddaughter. The front desk, concierge and lobby staff were very helpful at check in and out, with dinner suggestions and reservations and with transportation. The location was so convenient for all we wanted to see and do. I will certainly stay again if I return to the area.
My partner and I stayed here last year and it was the most pleasant hotel and visit. As we arrived, we were greeted in the most friendly manner by the hotel staff and the room was just as you see it on the pictures - perfect! The location is amazing, we had a view of Times Square from our room and could also see it from the hotel balcony which was a nice social spot. There were plenty of food places around and local shops so you have everything you need right under your nose. Overall, it was a great stay and this is the only hotel I would stay at in New York. Cant wait to visit again.
The location is very nice, but the reception was very unfriendly and far from helpful. The company who reserves the hotel for me made a mistake in booking it one day later. It was impossible to move it one day earlier although it was the same amount of nights and I offered to pay the difference. Had to be a new booking. Then when the company who made the booking booked an extra night, they were not able to make the booking via the hotel and provide the creditcard details by phone. As end results, the lady of the company had to come by to actually show the creditcard. When I asked if I can already go to the room to fresh up after a 14 hour flight, the answer was No, and no other solutions were offered. First the lady with the creditcard had to come by. Summary, persons who very much think inside the box and dont have the consumer first, or even show empathy for consumers. Especially for the high rate for this hotel, Im sure there is another hotel around with a better customer service.
I tried checking in a few hours early but no rooms were available which was ok since I was in early and the hotel allowed me to check in my bags while I went out. I was eventually accommodated before my actual check in of 3 pm you which was great. The hotel was as advertised and met my expectations. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean and roomy considering its NYC. I liked that the rooms had a mini fridge so I could store water. The price was also fair. Id definitely stay again on my next trip to NYC.
A swindle. So here is this expensive hotel in Times Square. Has a really nice view and bar etc. We get there - and its all roped off for a private event.Suppose you had rented a room at a hotel on the beach, and when you got there, were told that sorry, you cant go to the beach, weve rented it all out. Youd feel cheated, yes?Sure the rooms are nice and the location is good. So are the rooms in many hotels in this area. But they dont rip you off like this. This is really rude and inconsiderate behavior to the paying guests. I will not come here again nor recommend it to anyone else.
Location of the hotel was very convenient; in the heart of Times Square and with loads of places to eat. Loved the breakfast room, balcony and views. We stayed 7 nights.Room was ok. Didnt like the shower cubicle. The screen was visibly dirty throughout our stay. But didnt want to complain as i dont spend time in there. This was my 2nd visit to the US and 2nd stay in a US hotel. But it was the first time i experienced being given a receipt/invoice at breakfast though breakfast was included in my hotel package and having to work out whether to leave tips or not. It was awkward. Also, it sometimes took long to be seated at a table.
This place is absolute heaven in my opinion. The staff of aboutlsey wonderful and nice and they are always there to help you with anything you need. Me and my wife really did enjoy our stay here we will definitely be coming here more often. The view however is the main purpose why it’s so beautiful. Waking up in the morning and just seeing the view is probably the best way to start your day.
Bathrooms are extremely small and there is very little closet, drawer, and counter space in actual room which is also quite small. Ice maker on our floor didnt work, no coffee pot in room, large tiles on shower floor were very slippery, only 5 hangers in closet, and no top sheet on bed so you could either sleep under a much too warm duvet or nothing. Many areas of the hotel were also dark and gloomy. One positive, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Hotel in good location, great breakfast buffet very nice terrace with views of time square. Terrace gets very busy in evening though because of bar at the terrace. Room was small, as was the bathroom. No coffee maker in the room, so I had to go to the lobby in the morning to get a cup of coffee, complimentary in the lobby. That’s why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. All high end hotels should have coffee makers in the rooms. I also wish they included bathrobes as well. But other than that, enjoyed the stay.
All good, the hotels facilities was great, no problem at all, room service ladies and the lady work in gift shop were nice and helpful!Unfortunately, the front desk staff, information counter staff and restaurant staff was very impolite, no smile at all. They instruct customer and really unhelpful, I can feel that they dont want to help! Hey, I paid tips to them everytime when I went to the restaurant for breakfast!Especially the front desk lady staff worked on 27/8 morning , she was really rude, I just ask her a really simply question, what is the check out time? She ask me 12:00 and sneer at me!I stayed at the hotel 4 nights, their attitude were bad at all.Your hotel with great location and great facilities, if you can improve your staffs manner, I will absolutely stay again, if not improve, sorry, it will be the last time and I will quite my Accor membership as well. I hope you can reply my comment properly. Thank you!
Great view and the room itself is well equipped. However, this place is filled with tourists and is not a business friendly hotel. Everything from breakfast to room service is exhorbitantly priced. If you are in NY for business, go elsewhere. If you are a tourist, this is an ideal jump off point for many other sites of interest.
I and my wife spent 3 nights at the hotel. The room size was very adequate, well kept, very comfortable, beautiful, and it gives you a superb view of times square. Very neat bathroom but the Internet is very expensive. The staffs were awesome, making sure we get everything we need. Easy walking distance to times square, restaurants and malls. Above all, the hotel services gives you value for your money
The check in was friendly and efficient and the room was roomy. The Terrace was a pleasant experience disappointing only by the fact that it was a smoking area. The bar staff were great and the table service at breakfast was very good. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room therefore it would be worthwhile making the coffee station available longer (it appeared to only be available during breakfast).
I’ve stayed at the Novotel a few times now and it is always a great experience. From Stella at the front desk, always there, always warm and welcoming to my wonderful housekeeper, Elli (she was on the 29th floor this week- please thank her!!) everyone on staff is very kind and accommodating. The location is great as well- within walking distance to everything plus great views.
The hotel facilities are great and rooms very comfortable but it is of course the staff that makes it all work and is from top to bottom the case!! It is pricey but well worth the money!! The pleasure that you get from the stay is just unbeatable!! The breakfast is magnificent in it’s on right but the view from the breakfast room just makes it unbelievably good!Even after several stays there is always the sad feeling of having to leave for the “real world”!’This time was really special as we had to cope with a personal loss but the Novotel certainly helped a lot and we thank them for that enormously! We’ll be back soon I hope!!
Great location close to Times Square, the Theater District, Hells Kitchen, and convenient subway (metro for the rest of the world) access. The room was clean and modern with a good view. The most spectacular part of the hotel was the cafe and bar with the wrap-around (3 sides of the building) outdoor deck perched 8 floors above the bustling, dynamic view of Times Square. A great place to chill after a long day in NYC and experience the hustle and bustle from a relatively peaceful vantage point. My compliments to the nice staff, especially the very accommodating and charming Ian, who helped us with an early check-in and chatted with sophistication with my friend. A few weeks after my stay and the concierges name didnt slip away means we were treated well.
The hotel was clean and very accommodating. We loved our room and view. The front doorman was wonderful. I was concerned over safety. At night a very aggressive and high male prostitute followed me up in the elevator to the lobby. I was frightened and concerned for my safety (and my daughters) He hid in the lobby and I requested an escort to my room. I would love to recommend or stay again but safety was an issue. It would prevent me from staying again.
Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. The lift from ground to lobby was a bit annoying at times as was the crowded breakfasts. Staff were proficient rather than friendly and as an Accor member, I received no recognition. As I was staying for business the location and amenities were good, however when I return for leisure Id look for something a little more customer focused for my stay.
This bar is a lot of fun. During times of nicer weather, you can go outside to the rooftop portion of the bar which has great views of midtown Manhattan. There is also a large bar area inside. This is a great spot for after work happy hours. They have pretty good happy hour specials during the week. Its a large enough space that it never gets too crowded
First time guest, wont be the last. We chose this hotel over our usual MM in Times Square. Couldnt have been happier with our stay.Rooms were nice and clean. Location was superb. Close to everything we wanted but away from all the hustle and bustle that is Times Square. The rooftop lounge/bar was nice after returning from the the Billy Joel concert. We had a few drinks while looking down to TS. Great ending to a perfect night. The staff were IMO fantastic. Always polite and helpful with no attitude.Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.Cant wait to do it all over again in a few months.Thank You for a splendid stay.
Our room was very clean. The staff was all very pleasant. I traveled with my son and felt completely safe in your hotel. The hotels location was perfect - close enough to walk anywhere we wanted to go yet not in the middle of all the craziness and congestion of Times Square. I would happily stay at The Novotel again on our next trip to the City!
Pros:The location is greatCons:I have arrived at the hotel at about 07:00, asking if my room may be ready by any chance, even though I had arrived a few hours before the check-in time.I was told that it would be possible to do an early check-in, but only at an additional cost of $100 - roughly the same as what I was going to pay for my entire stay there. Now, it is perfectly fine to reject a request for early check-in if there are no available rooms (in case the hotel is fully booked - this is understandable). However, I find the fact that the hotel has actually got available rooms, and simply wants so much money just to allow a guest the courtesy of an extra few hours rest after a long journey - quite greedy and unwelcoming.
I dont usually write a review but I didnt have any good time in this Hotel. First of all their advertise something that they dont deliver. I book a room with times square view where the pics of the room and the view was fantastic, I called them to make sure the view was beautiful cause I was getting married that night. And the hotel said the view was amazing So I paid a lot money to have a great view and quite room at highest floor far from noise. Now the bad part the view was horrible but a huge building( huge disappoiment cause u pay a lot more money) and last the phone in my room hang at 3am 😡 while me and my wife were sleeping Ianswer and they called me by mistake. Well ruined my first night as married and a the surprise I was planning to my wife.
Room was clean and check in staff friendly. Room 903 is not a great position as it is close to all the hallway traffic but the view of Times Square is pretty good. We had people in the room next to us partying with music at 3am. There was an interconnecting room door and the sound travelled straight under it. We had to call security who took about 30 min to shut it down. (I understand not fault of management re people being overly noisy). No follow up from the front desk in the morning. Breakfast was ok. We organized a late check out and when we got lost and were going to be 15 min late to get back to our room to vacate the front desk lady was pretty unforgiving and said she would charge us $50 for the extra time (1 hour billing). Have stayed a few times and had good experiences but this one was pretty crappy attention to customers needs etc so will maybe look elsewhere next time.
Hotel in great location. Have to say the service could have been better. Did not feel as though the staff from the concierge to bar people were as helpful, efficient or friendly as we have experienced in other Accor Hotels. Also not really impressed at being charged $2 for a jug of hot water so that I could make a cup of tea (I had my own tea bag with me!) as the room was not equipped with a kettle. As an Accor member I expected better. The room was a good size in addition to good location.
Lobby was very cool to start with. Staff was incredibly helpful since we made no hotel plans and rooms were scarce. The room was very clean and well arranged. The shower was fantastic with front and overhead showheads. Very satisfied with the stay and will absolutely go back for next visit.
Loved my stay at Novotel NY Times Square! Staff are very friendly, especially Stella at check-in and the manager for providing me complimentary drinks and a welcome card in the room. Housekeeping we´re also friendly all the time. Rooms we´re overall clean and it has all the facilities you need. Definitely a 5 star rating!
First off, I’ll start by saying that the views at this hotel are very good. However, there are a few other things that would cause me to never rent a hotel room here ever again. The biggest issue we had was that It sounded like there was an owl in our room all night. This is due to the windows not sealing properly. The second issue we had was that we rented a room with a king size bed and we only got a queen size bed. We rented the nicest room Novotel had to offer but I was sorely disappointed. For the money, go somewhere else that’ll let you get a good nights sleep.
Our stay at Novotel was very good and we did enjoy our time there. The only issue we had was that there was one day in which our room was not cleaned. Other than that I should mention that the staff were courteous and friendly, and we have very good memories from this place. The views and location are also spectacular. Overall a great place to stay.
Very clean, big rooms for NYC, awesome view from the 24th floor. Nice terrace on the lobby level, bar is very nice, everything is very modern.Edit: We stayed here again. Breakfast was great. The only thing I can criticize is the hair dryer, it will only work on low, took me half an hour to dry my hair.
Great hotel, with wonderful views (especially time Square side) thanks for perfect position. Just expect to pay more especially when you want higher floors and undisturbed view on time Square. But it is worth the price as the rooms are big and comfortable along with really pleasant personal.
New York pricing for drinks to the max!! For a basic cocktail was almost $30. The environment was beautiful and very spacious. The staff was friendly for the most part, except when your asking the bar for something simple as ice water. Would I go back, yes, because the overall environment was beautiful and clean. Still had a good experience
Based on my experience, Novotel delivers consistent quality in all location I have visited. This location is someway special: conveniently located at walking distance from main focus points, with a beautiful terrace looking on Times Square, it is a very good choice for those visiting New York. Only improvement point is, to my opinion, the someway limited seating at the restaurant, what especially in the morning creates some queues at the entrance. The very kind personnel however does its best to manage the needs of the many customers also in this case. Not to be missed.
From the moment we walked into the novotel it has been amazing. The staff have all been polite, welcoming and friendly. Our room was beautiful and clean and the facilities within the hotels were second to none.Breakfast and dinner was perfect and the view is out of this world! Our experience In New York has been amazing. We will be back next year !We couldnt have asked for more! This is the city that never sleeps !
I booked 2 nights for weekend of New Years Eve through Hotwire. The facility was nice, very modern and very clean. The layout is a little strange with street level walk in only. You have to immediately take elevators to lobby for reception check-in. Then you have to take separate elevators to rooms....very circuitous with lots of walking around. Service was OK, concierge was a little snobby. There was a planned New Years party but it was poorly organized. Coat check in and way to terrace was same line, which made it long and not very efficient. All drinks were the same price - $20 for beer, wine, cocktail, champagne or soda. Problem was they wouldnt take any money at the bar, only coupons that had to by purchased at different table but they ran out. Here we were on New Years Eve but we couldnt get champagne because they ran out of coupons and bar wouldnt take our money. We waited for a while and lost our spot on the balcony to watch the ball drop....very frustrating. Location of hotel itself was very good though, literally right in Times Square and close to Rockefeller Center, the 2 places we wanted to see and close to our favorite eateries as well.I would have given them a 4 except that after getting home, I discovered a charge on my credit card. When I called to inquire they explained it was their daily fee. I told them that I was not told about it and the rep blamed Hotwire for not telling me and lectured me that had I booked directly through them, they would have told me. I then asked why their hotel reception didnt tell me when I was there in front of them at check in and check out. I was surprised that they would have a practice of running charges without telling me. The rep actually said that they try to expedite their check-in and check out SO THEY DONT TELL GUESTS ABOUT THE CHARGE! When I pointed out that they were not being transparent by avoiding to tell me, he said that they did tell me by posting their fee on a sign and TV monitor in the lobby. I reminded him that it was crowded on a holiday weekend and its shady for their staff to not tell me when they took my credit card at check in and didnt say anything. Even at check out, I was told simply that I was all set but no mention of a charge. He was completely unapologetic about their practice.I would have gone back given decent price and location before I saw the charges. even after the charges, I would not have cared about paying the fee had they been nicer about it: apologizing for their staff not making it clear, plan to improve on their lack of clarity, etc. But given the rude response and not taking any responsibility, I will not return because of their poor customer service and sketchy practice. In fact, I will discourage my friends and family from staying at this hotel. If you stay here, at least be warned now that their will be daily fees. These fees may not be unusual in NYC, but this place is not upfront in telling you about it.
Awesome hotel, do not have much to compare it to but the size seemed large for right on times square. You could see the ball from our room. We stayed around the 12th of December. From the hotel we were within walking distance to central park and all the major sightseeing landmarks in nyc. The staff was very helpfull and friendly
Just a 3 star hotel. Basic rooms renovated cheaply. Staff offer basic service even if higher Le Club status. Breakfast poor at best. Restaurant Staff very disengaged. Tables and floor dirty and cleaned poorly. We had breakfast included but started eating out instead. Gym hasn’t been renovated equipment very old.
It was a wonderful experience! The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful! We love your hotel! I was the lead teacher on a field trip from Rensselaer (near Albany). My students thought that it was a great hotel! I teach in a 70% poverty school district and we raise every penny doing numerous fundraisers throughout the year. I think that it is a great experience for them to see what having extra money can look like!
I wish i could give them 0 stars. do not go. this place is shanty. during our visit various things were wrong. the windows looking into time square are so dirty it’s appalling, the maids used half of my very expensive face cream, and they charged $50 a room after our stay claiming it was a hold but it was clearly not. when talking to the staff they were belittling and not helpful at all.the convenience store up charges you double!! they are banking on tourist not noticing and did it to us THREE TIMES for the same thing. horrible horrible horrible place.
We stayed at the Novotel to celebrate my sons 10th. birthday. The hotel has a fresh and fashionable style. We really enjoyed the comfortable room, the beautiful restaurant with the view of Times Square, and the friendly staff. The food was good - The breakfast bar was amazing! A well varied arrangement with plenty for those with an appetite for fresh and healthy foods. Oh! The coffee! Fantastic.Kids ate breakfast free - great perk for those of us with kiddos.
All good except as I am medically unable to go out until Wednesday have been staying here in the room since friday the list of room service meals is very limited and food taste very basic and needs a good upgrade and more choices on the room service menu. There is no childrens menu on room service list. Rooms are very good and very well designed bathrooms.
So many great things about this hotel.....Everybody was super friendly from the doormen, front desk, bartenders, and even the housekeeping ladies. The aroma upon entering is intoxicating and relaxing. Room was spotless with a very modern feel. Great location in Times Square and close to subway. Wonderful beds and no city noise at all. I normally stay only at Hilton but am so glad I tried the Novotel. It was an experience not just a hotel!!
Expensive food of middling quality, but we wanted some kind of view and hadnt booked anywhere in advance. It was easy to get in on a weekday evening so we went for it. The view was decent (for being times square) and it was nice to get out of the crowded streets for awhile. Im usually good about catching it when this happens, but they asked if we wanted sparkling or still water (we asked for still) then brought out bottled instead of tap - remember to ask for tap if you dont want to pay for the bottle. IMO this is a shady practice and this place wasnt fancy enough to justify it. Overall - tourist trap but its quiet enough and we had no complaints about the food. It was pretty standard food youll pay twice as much for (personal pepperoni pizza and burger were each 21 dollars). Meh.
Our first time in NYC and the hotel didnt disappoint. From the smiling welcome we received from the friendly staff to the actual view of the room of the Times Square from our room, which was exactly as the pic in the website! Room is very well appointed but can be cramped for 3 or more adults with limited space for big luggages. Were very happy with our choice on this trip and will definitely be coming to this hotel again.
My first room backed up to the elevator bank and was noisy. I asked for a different room and was re-assigned. My new room was very quiet, and comfortable. I enjoyed a 2 night stay here without issues. The rooms were generously sized for NYC and everything was clean/in order. The restaurant is overpriced and the bar service was very slow. The front desk attendants are very responsive.
Stunning views from the table we had. Times Square is amazing at night and where the restaurant is situated, it really is a perfect way to eat and drink.Ok, time for the negative points,The food: I had a burger as if you are in New York what else is there to have. It really was not nice at all. There were two really thick tomato slices in between the bun and the burger. This made everything wet and slimly. The more I ate the wetter it got and basically washed all the taste away. The service: At the start of the meal we had good service and the staff were friendly and polite. The main problem was after we paid for the meal and gave a tip.I was amazed and disappointed when the waiter came back and asked for a bigger tip. The reasons he has given were that he only works for tips, the view he provided and the wonderful service. The waiter really was in my face so to prevent spoiling the evening as I was with my wife and son I gave in and give him some more money. The meal had cost us $180 so with the tips cost well over $200. HoursI had been in New York for a week before this happened, so I aware of the tips in the Big Apple but the strength of the confrontation in such a high standard hotel did surprise me.I would not go back again
Check in took way longer than average as there was only 1 receptionist. The receptionist was probably overworked which was why she was acting kind of unfriendly. There is no complimentary water anywhere in this whole hotel! Youd have to go to the one vending machine located inside the gym...seriously? The lobby was blasting Cardi B uncensored, very unprofessional. The room itself was clean and average, although the window was dirty. After I checked out, I found out that they overcharged my credit card by $100+. I called the hotel but they couldnt see the charge and told me I have to call back tomorrow for accounting department. Overall, it definitely wasnt a nice experience and will definitely stay away from this place.
Oh my gosh! My husband found this hotel on the internet, and of course when he mentioned it, I looked it up too. We chose it based on location (Times Square) and the offer of the free breakfast. However, our experience was so much more those two things. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were able to check in a little early, and our room had an amazing view of Times Square. I appreciated the firm mattress and the wonderful rain shower (great water pressure). I also liked that the room was quiet. We had a yummy dinner in the restaurant our first night (try the vegetable stew with the couscous), and enjoyed an after-dinner drink on the outdoor patio. My husband and I both agreed that if we ever come back to NY, we would stay here again! I highly recommend a stay here, if you are planning a trip to NYC.
We chose this hotel for its proximity to time square and the 7th floor patioBar. The view was amazing from the patio IF you could find a place to sit.Of the 4 days we stayed at the Novotel ,three of the nights the patio was booked for private parties. The last night was the worst as well over 200 people took over the outside and inside bars. Not patrons of the hotel. My complaint to management was not well received. The rest of the staff were amazing but I would NOT recommend this hotel
Trendy hotel in the heart of the theater district. Great views of Times Square from the bar/restaurants and most of the rooms. The rooms themselves are very comfortable and stylish. Staff is extremely pleasant and courteous. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely consider it again in the future.
Nice hotel, clean rooms and good views. Dont give them your card though as they add random charges. Charged my card $80 when I first arrived even though the room was prepaid and then a few days later charged my card another $25. Reception said these were holding charges and would be removed but the payments have now been taken and i have not been reimbursed. I also got charged an additional $99 a couple of days after check out for resident fees, so I know the previous charges were not for this. I have emailed the hotel to ask for a breakdown of card charges and have yet to have any response.
The lobby is on the 2nd floor which was a confusing start but the rest was smooth sailing. Great rooms combined with excellent service makes this easily one of the best places to stay around times Square. The check in and out process was also very easy. A little pricey but worth it for the location and quality associated.
It is 4:49 AM EST. My wife and I had 3 flight delayed from Atlanta Ga. we get to this hotel after I called and say we would be arriving at 1 am. I was charged for our Friday night stay which we didn’t get to the hotel until 2am EST. They had already charged my card after I clearly asked the front door not to do. I booked a Time Square view room for my wife bc she never been to NYC. Not alone, we’re celebrating our 2nd anniversary and my wife’s b day. They put us in room 3301. This room was so hot. They had to move us to another room below us. I was promised view of the middle of Time Square but we only saw a build and lights. This was the worst lifetime experience of my life. I waited for 2 hours to be moved! ☹️☹️ 7/19/2019
I cant speak to the hotel, but Ive been to the rooftop bar many a time and really enjoy it here! The views are amazing and for the area, the drinks are reasonably priced. You cant go wrong with any of the bar food items either. If the weather isnt cooperating, the inside is also nice - good vibe!
Check in was friendly and fast. Room was more spacious than any other Times Square hotel we have ever stayed in. Good amount of storage. Mini fridge was a plus. Housekeepers were very friendly and efficient. Had a view of Broadway and Times Square from our room. Could watch the ball drop from our room if we stayed on New Years Eve!
Over-rated hotel. A piece of junk. I booked through Priceline for $168/ night on Jan 08, 2019. The hotel doesnt have their own parking space. I have to pay $45/night for a parking across the street. There is no microwave, the refrigerator is so small. Room too small. At the end of my stay I was charged for another $17.21 for no reason, even though I didnt use any service offered by the hotel. I left tips on bed when I left.I called accounting to clear the unauthorized charge but got a voice mail, I called my credit card company to get rid of the charge. Never use Novotel again.
Positives:Great Location, Friendly staff and clean rooms are certainly positive. The restaurant food was very good and the rooms are of a decent size (for New York).Negatives:There where a lot of private parties throughout our stay, which limited certain sections of the bar and restaurant at various times. Also the ice-machine on the 26th floor was broken, reported it, but apparently they staff werent able to fix it, rather unfortunate since you cant visit other floors without a key card.
This hotel is conveniently located, close to Times Square, the Theatre District, Midtown and Hells Kitchen. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the terrace was beautiful. It has a cool, modern vibe, great lounge area and terrific views. The only problem we had was that we got stuck in the elevator, but that was rectified in about 5 minutes.
Amazing view of times square! You wont be kept up at night even in the heart of the city that never sleeps. You are well within walking distance of many major tourist attractions. The hotel had activities going on at the bar many nights. The breakfast was not included but offered a higher quality than your average hotel. I recommend you pay the extra for the view.
Clean rooms, great location, friendly staff. Special call-out to the housekeeper on the 17th floor who called us to ask if we would like to have a coffee machine. Remarkable because it showed her attention to detail and thoughtfulness. Great job Novotel, hiring great people.
It was conveniently located to go around the city, near times square which made things much easier for us with our little girls. We walked to MET from the hotel through 5 th avenue/Central Park, it was nice walking. Also, we walked down to Korean town, which was fun too. Wall green is right downstairs which we loved it bc we needed hundreds of things more even after packing everything possible for our girls. 😌 Housekeeping was great. One thing, you may want to pack your own shampoos and conditioners. I try not too picky on it when we travel but theirs made our hair got dried/tangled more than usual. Besides that, great hotel, nice view of Times Square :)
A place I will never forget! My boyfriend brought me to New York for the first time for my 26th birthday. We stayed at the Novotel and we LOVED IT! The hotel is gorgeous, AND it has amazing views. Did I mention they have a breathtaking terrace overlooking Times Square?!The service is superb and the drinks we had while lounging at their beautiful bar were delicious!Novotel, well be back!
No disappointments at Novotel - except the bar hours, but perhaps that was for the best! From check-in to departure, all was as I expected with our stay. Room was clean and comfortable, love the mini-fridge and convenient outlets and USB ports, lobby has everything you need and the fitness center is very well-appointed. Also, our housekeeper, Evalina I believe (18th floor) was extremely friendly, helpful and funny.
Great hotel for our first experience of New York. The beds for comfortable and we found the room to be plenty big and clean The only gripes we had were the exorbitant drink prices at the bar ($16 for a captain diet). It kept us away from mingling down there. I know that NYC is expensive but yikes.
The view was excellent, the drinks were great I will recommend the margarita with a sugar rim. And from my friends the pizza was good. And I was grwatful not being from there nor staying at that hotel a good Samaritan returned my debit card. So. Who ever you were thank you
Overall, Im giving it 4 out of 5 because the view in 1104 was excellent for #NYE. We were supposed to have a king room with a sleeper sofa, but ended up with a double beds room instead. The room confusion goes back to our travel agent, not Novotel. The service was great and everyone was very accommodating, except for once. The hotel had a fire emergency when we were returning, after a day out and about, and the elevators/ lifts were out of service. We were given the option to use the stairs, which we began to take, until we found out we would have to climb 7 stories - someone had bad knees. We returned to the street level lobby entrance and asked if we could have a seat while we waited for everything to be over. The man who had told us to take the stairs raised his voice at me and stated, Why?! You said you were taking the stairs! At that point I responded with sarcasm, Yeah, until we found out it was 7 stories to the lobby. He responded, Would be better if you didnt. We marched off to Starbucks around the corner and waited for the fire trucks to leave while we enjoyed hot chocolate, in 12° weather, in a warm friendly environment.
As an Accor member was happy with the upgrade but found the bathroom very small, and was not provided with the privileges that an Accor Platinum member would usually be provided with. Had to request tnree times for body lotion, no robes in the room, only paper cups in tne room for tea, which not replaced each day and had to request them. Thought the restaurant had a limited menue, had the checken for dinner which was very dry with little flavor. Hotel location is great, cocierge very helpful female receptionist very good male ones not so much.
This place was beyond amazing! The view we had of time square was breathtaking, the room was up-to-date and gave off a fancy appeal. The bathroom followed the same concept of everything appearing new and well taken care of! Recommending this hotel to everyone that wants to stay at time square.
Novotel New York Times Square exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and quite spacious. The decor was nice. The king size bed was comfortable and clean. The only interaction we had with the staff was checking in which was smooth and easy. Right near Times Square and shops, delis, restaurants and stores. I highly recommend this hotel.
The stay was good except the night Barclay had a private party at the hotel restaurant and the music was super loud that we could hear it in our room pass 10pm! However, the manager went to check the noise and turn the music down when we complaint so we could finally have a good night sleep. Hotel staff is very friendly and the room is nice and clean.
Rooms are okay, similar to staying at a Hilton garden inn. Restaurant staff are really bad I would suggest foregoing the rate that includes breakfast and go-to one of the many local dinners. Front desk staff friendly, access to the hotel required going to an elevator to get to the lobby from street.
Was on a low floor this time. Toilet paper mount fell off the wall in the middle of the night. Met a woman who got food poisoning from the hotel restaurant and was hospitalized. I still enjoy it here. Right in Times Square! Staff is wonderful. Breakfast is abundant and varied.
1) very small beds.2) you asked me to request rooms if i require near elevator, i said near elevator, and in return i got it farthest from elevator.3) queue for brekfast. one day hotel management changed time for breakfast and finished breakfast an hour and half early because they had given space for the party. restaurent manager told methat every guests were informed about the early breakfast but i was never told about this by letter or any verbal communication. simultaneously there were few people who were not aware of early breakfast. huge quese for breakfast and absolutely mismanaged situation.4) male staff at the reception is more like a bouncer of the club....absolutely rude behaviour while cheking in. absolutely no poilteness to guests.....
My wife and I always stay at the Novotel when we visit New York City (NYC). We love the theater and the hotels location is right off Times Square in the heart of the theater district. The rooms are clean, well kept, and competitively-priced for NYC. Motif is Danish modern.Security is excellent. You take an elevator from street level to the main lobby which is on the second floor; that elevator does NOT go to any other floors. Visitors must pass the reception desk before they can reach a separate bank of elevators that take you to the upper floors where guest rooms are located. Someone was thinking here.Restaurant is on the second level just beyond the reception desk. Food is good but the view of Times Square is better. If necessary, wait to get a window table. Piano bar between reception area and the restaurant is contemporary and music level enables quiet conversation.I recommend this hotel to my friends and I do to you.
Views are amazing of Times Square and nice rooftop bar area. Restaurant service was very subpar. Waiters were not very observant and did not check in very often especially unpleasant bc we were a large group for a birthday party. Food was ok. A bit too salty but drinks were decent. Everything slightly pricey tho. Would return just for the views.
Quiet, comfortable rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location for theater district. Easy walk to many local sights and great food. Hotel restaurant had great service and amazing food. Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Quick taxi ride to Penn Station. Only one small ding...bathroom needs better ventilation for shower steam.
Security elevator to the rooms. The check in was easy. The people who work in this hotel are very very nice and understandable when I had an issue with the agency I booked my room from which Ill barely find in NYC.The lobby is so nice. The room was so perfect and luxury, and the price was more than reasonable. Will def stay here again!!
I went to a private happy hour at the Novotel bar on the lobby floor. The bar is in a large area with lots of tables and couches. No coat check, but there are coat racks for you to hang your coat. Theres a large outdoor area that faces the side street. Overall, nice ambiance and everything you can expect from a hotel bar.
My husband and I only stayed one night to hangout with my parents who were visiting from out of town. We were delighted to hear you are a pet friendly hotel so we immediately took up my parents request to stay at the hotel with them. We were greeted by two very friendly and fantastic bell hops and checked in by the most lovely women named Stella. She was kind, knowledgeable and professional, my husband and I adored her charm. We will absolutely recommend friends and family to stay at The Novotel.
Friendly efficient welcoming staff who leave you to your own devices if thats what you prefer. Helpful and available when you need them. Polite, professional and humble. Excellent facilities. Great terrace bar / restaurant. Superb views of Times Square. Norma the housekeeper was particularly sweet. No pressure for tips but appeared genuinely grateful when given to all staff. Apart from one aggressive and rude security ? man who knocked on the door threatening to charge me for I presume being too loud with guests after spending a large amount at the bar. His behaviour was unacceptable. I called downstairs as I did not understand what he meant. If it was to keep the noise down that was all he had to say. I was told a manager would be contacted, but nothing happened. That was disappointing. Guests should never feel threatened by hotel staff and his behaviour was unwarranted. It was after the Katy Perry concert. We were not that noisey. Of that I am certain.
I went there for the first time before a couple of days, it was recommended from my Broadway ticket agent and I went there after my show to take a drink. The location is really nice place with amazing drinks and the customer service is on point. They have really nice view, you can see Times Square and big part of Broadway.
My friend and I arrived at the hotel at 12am on the first night and tried to check-in. But unfortunately, there was an issue when we get there so the staff said that we needed to go to the other hotel nearby even though we were so tired and exhausted from jet lag. I was so mad that I complained about it but they didnt listen to me carefully at all. The staffs said that they will give us a refund later but we were very frustrated about the inconveniences. However, cleaning and concierge staff was very great and helpful. Plus, the hotel has a nice location. It is located a few blocks from Times Square. Also, it has a great view of Times Square. But this hotel definitely wouldnt be my first choice if I will get back to NY because of their services.
Roof top terrace reviewIve only been to the terrace and its amazing. You dont have to be a guest to visit you just have to get a drink from the bar and you can enjoy it outside with incredible views of time Square plus you can smoke. Recommend it if you have friends visiting.
Good spacious room, was very clean too. Except the sofa to the side that had some dust, but only someone with a tendency to get allergies would notice that. A kettle to heat drinking water in the room would be a great addition, which is a fairly standard requirement for most travelers and available in most hotels.
Disappointed that they did not accept the their own loyalty card as it was booked through partner website. Access to the hotel is not straightforward and need to wait to in queues ro enter in lifts and for breakfast. Customers could have been served better with more friendly staff at the reception and at the restaurant.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Times Squares hotel, and the experience was consistent and great. Comfortable rooms with small fridge makes life convenient. Great location and wonderful outdoor area off the lobby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
After a 23 hour journey, we arrived to a disgruntled front desk. Pretty average customer service, no real interest in making guests feeel like... guests. No explanation as to what they were charging to our credit card and no receipt to show for it.Accommodation was clean & tidy. The views were amazing from the room (level 19 facing Times Square). All in all if the staff stepped up their game this place would be a 4.5 - 5 star venue.
This hotel has trapped me. Its not about the money, but they said that I can get breakfast while I booked for no breakfast include. And they charged me when I checked out. The breakfast is bad, and the spoon and plate are dirty like being used before or forgot to clean and wash. Bad in handling customer. ITS ABSOLUTELY NOT 4 STARS OR 5 STARS HOTEL.
Nice restaurant and amazing breakfast. 5 stars because of the nice rooms and amenities. The rooms get cleaned everyday and nothing is stolen or taken. There is a photo book a few computers and 2 XBox consoles which are all free to use. The Novotel has the Supernova restaurant in it and has a futuristic look throughout the hotel. Even if you lose your keys to your room(like we did) they will still offer you a new room key. They also are glad to give you another blanket or towel if you need it. The Novotel has a store that has all the way from gum to bags to water.
Food was just meh. I can cook pretty well so I expect a lot out of a restaurant for $30 per plate. The view of time Square is only from 2 tables in the whole place. Plenty of great places in Manhattan... Skip this one. Try rainbow room similar prices, much better view, and better food.
My experience at Novotel was incredible. My fiance and I got engaged in NYC. The wonderful staff at Notovel found out about our new engagement and offered us free champagne, desserts, balloons, and left us a little message for us. The whole experience was perfect and we couldnt have asked for a better hotel to spend our engagement celebrations at.
Not enough stars to rate properly, I know its expected for the price, but they delivered. Awesome view of Times Square from room without being in the middle of it, great roof top hang out even in winter, didnt eat at restaurant but looked nice. Staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful when needed, unnoticed when not. Room clean, bed comfortable, flatscreen crystal clear. Downsides- price (it is Manhattan) TVservice (I had more cable channels in the 90s) fee for wi-fi (really?),oh and no golf course. Walk to MSG, any Broadway theater, Rock Ctr, Bryant Park, 5th Ave shopping, Would not hesitate to book here again.
This hotel has one of the best views of Times Square for its price range if you get the right rooms. The large windowsills in the room made it comfortable to sit by the window with a snack or drink while watching all the commotion of Times Square from a few blocks away. The lobby restaurant/bar, along with its outdoor terrace is well-decorated and has a nice view of Times Square as well. Rooms are clean and neat, although the like most NYC rooms, its on the smaller side.
I booked Double Room with Two Double Beds and Times Square View - High Floor, cosy and clean room, needs more Facilities at least water heater and more light too. But the view is perfect 👌🏽 Nothing more, only a few minutes walk to time square and just down the hotel there is super market
You will be impressed as soon as you walk into the lobby here. Ultra modern design makes you feel energized and ready to take on the city. There was a slight issue with our keys not working properly but was quickly resolved. It did seem to be an issue though with several other guests as well.View from our room was perfect as it overlooked time square.Located writhing waking distance to everything. Will definitely stay here again.
The Novotel Times Square was a wonderful place to stay at. Its location is fantastic, so close to Times Square and all the theatres. We walked to a theatre each night to see a show. Its also near places to eat - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our room was a good size and modern. The view we had was stunning.
We stayed here three days (in Sept. 2012) before we boarded a cruise ship for Canada. The location is great for walking to Time Square and Broadway Theaters. We walked across the street to see a Broadway Play! Service was good and staff was friendly. The last morning we had breakfast, the staff was pretty slow getting to us and gave us the feeling we were annoying them by asking for things. The dining room wasnt busy... but I realize those things happen from time to time. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay. One evening we sat on the terrace and listened to (dj) music and watched people dance. The terrace has a fantastic view of Time Square as did our room. Id stay again, most definitely!
Due to the COVID-19 virus, and the governors request that nobody travel, this hotel refuses to refund the room. Multiple emails back-and-forth and they refused to do anything. This firm would rather people get COVID-19 and die then refund the money. All they’re concerned with is money and not the health and welfare of others
Hotel functionally ok but I never felt a valued guest. For example Ive never been quoted $2 to bring a glass to the room and as we were leaving very early on the day of departure we asked if the hotel could help with a packed breakfast (we were leaving at 5am and often hotels offer to give us a few items in a box). The hotel receptionist actually said breakfast is available at 6.30 and it was not the hotels fault we leave early. He said there is a deli down the street. Not the best service.
I enjoyed everything but my experience with the service at your bar. I went to get a drink for me and a few people I had with me. No waitresses were around so my daughter and I went to the bar and sat waiting for the bartender to get to us. He saw us and intentionally ignored us and waited on a number of people who came to the bar after us. For the rest of the week we went to other areas and were waited on in a timely fashion. This was our second visit within one year to our hotel.
The hotel is in a great location and has fantastic views of Times Square. The staff is friendly and professional. Meals and drinks are priced for tourists, so dont be shocked by the prices or plan to eat and socialize somewhere else! There are nearby alternatives that are far more reasonable.
Room was ok however the one time i went to the bar, i was summarily ignored by the bartender who seemed to be preoccupied doing god knows what else but clearly not paying attention to waiting customers. why would he do that??? i never went back to the bar and left without ordering. please fix that.also i called room service a few times and flat out was dissatisfied with the operator. they did not give a damn, could not tell me where the ice machine was, nor could they convey a sense that they cared. mostly i felt i was bothering them. therefore I am left to conclude that you are not promoting the customer as the important entity at your hotel. who wants to feel like we have to beg to get something and be afraid of pissing off a customer service person. if i call the operator I want to hear someone who is helpful and has the right tone towards a paying customer.
Hotel is nice, pretty standard for 4-stars: comfortable bed, nice shampoo and conditioner, easily accessible outlets, and a good desk for working. The thing that makes this hotel exceptional for midtown is the restaurant, which is probably the best meal Ive had anywhere in midtown.
I booked a king size bed for my weekend stay in New York City. It was two single beds ,when I opened the door .I excepted that because they said it would take a while to see if theres another room available in the future. I book that room about nine months in advance. Then on Saturday the whole lounge and bar area was taken over by outside guesses , and you could not sit at the bar and have a drink or conversation. Me and my wife went back to out room around 7:30 PM . We were on the 10th floor the music from that party couldve been right in our room. It was blasting loud and I phoned the front desk finally after two calls talk to somebody who said the music will shut down at 11 PM. I told him theres no respect for the paying guest to this hotel. I saw many people especially European guess leaving the lounge on Saturday night because of that music and atmosphere from the outside crowd . I have stayed at your hotel, twice in the last two years. Im sorry but I cannot stay there again. I will stay down the road at the Sheraton. I know Im only one customer but you have lost me .
Friendly front desk staff on check in and check out, however they were not so friendly on general questions or inquries about anything e.g.. the elevator from my floor got stuck and when ringing to get help the staff were quite rude about it. Cleaning and concierge staff were friendly and easy to approach. Wifi connection is not what they provoke it as. Was extremely slow and sometimes wouldnt let us connect at all. Lobby elevator down to main street level was a slow process as they only have one elevator working, which backs up people out onto the street when trying to enter hotel as well as when trying to exit hotel. Overall hotel had its pros and its cons but wouldnt be my first choice when returning to NYC.
Service was very good. It would be nice to have some tables to sit around outside. The outside lounge area is nice, but given the noise of times square and being so high up in the city, its tough to hold a conversation without yelling a bit with how far away you sit in the outside lounge second
Wonderful views no matter where are you are, Simply stunning staff, and so beautiful! I loved staying there. The rooms are spacious and the TVs have youre name on the screen when you turn it on! Only bad thing, I had to leave. Thank you novotel for the enjoyable experience!
I can only rate the limited interaction with the staff upon checking into the hotel as this was to be my first time staying here.... but I did not get past the check-in due to the horrible customer service at my first point of contact. When booking through a third party, the rate was lower than the rate on the Novotel website. Despite having a “best price guarantee” policy to beat the price by 10%, the Novotel refused to even match the rate. The reservations manager initially tried resolving this by canceling my reservation with a fee; after asking to speak to the general manager of the hotel, she said she would waive the cancellation fee but it would be a few days before the authorization for the room goes back on my account. This was BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE as I am now having to deal with not being able to make another reservation because of this hold.
The SuperNova restaurant of Novotel New York was totally awesome, its pricey but worth it if you are spending it with your loved ones. The place is especially great for after the show dinner since the location is just a few walks away from broadway theaters. The panoramic veiw of timesquare was incredibly great, the set-up and dimmed lights are pretty romantic and to top it off, the Angus Prime NY Strip Steak and the California Cabernet Braised Short Ribs were oh so delicious! The service crew were also warm and professional. The only thing that is stopping me from giving it five stars is that the dessert menu is limited and my sweet tooth is not really up to what they have on their list. But my experience over there was unforgettable!
I do NOT recommend this hotel if you want to stay in time square. Find somewhere else if you’re smart. The staff is blatantly rude and inconsiderate. The room is nothing like advertised in the slighest, even considering the photoshop, editing, and positioning that goes into the online photos. The view is average at best. The location is not great either. Save your money and don’t visit this overrated, cheap piece of junk .
Very nice location, the view on time square is just awsome, lots of restaurants nearby, and stores for shopping. Very nice and friendly staff. Always ready to help. Nice room, clean, comfortable bed. Nice bar. Avoid breakfast between 7 and 8.30am. The lineup is just huge. Very happy. I recommend
Rooms facing the Times Square in the higher floor have a nice view. The concierge guy (Fouad) was knowledgeable and very helpfull. Also the other concierge guy (maybe his name is Jhon) is very kind. The receptionist Sadiq is really nice and professional. The things I did not like:- Despite that the bf included in our rate, we have to sign a receipt, maybe to give them a tip. But a tip for what? It is self service.- There was no a single bottle of water inside the room and no coffee/tea.- We did not like the reciptianest Jalal.
Nice comfortable hotel near Times Square. They say it is in Times Square but that is a stretch of the imagination. Rooms are clean and spacious and the beds are comfortable. There is a restaurant and bar but I never used either of these so cant comment on how good they are.
Room was very comfy, although much smaller then pictures made it look. but i guess thats typical for ney york hotels. hotel is very clean and perfect location. Hotel staff was nice but a bit sarcastic and blunt at times. Once again i guess thats pretty typical for new york!
Good location. Clean and well proportioned rooms. Let down by some small niggles - had to chase luggage twice, phone not working, rude staff in breakfast area, and poor communication of facilities (ie details about WiFi and no mention that coffee in reception area was complimentary).
- Three consistent rude receptions: 1) reject my early check in request, 2) did not say happy birthday when I told her it was my birthday - only say it must be 21 right? and reject my upgrade request, 3) reject my late check out - after I explained that I am a platinum member, he gave me until 15.00- Very slow response from Guest relation manager: need to email two and three times before I receive responses- Bill still outstanding: deducted my points and charged full payment on my credit card. NO RESPONSE on my email to both hotel and guest relation manager until now.
To my surprise this was our worst stay at any hotel... i have been to Novotel at many other places and so I insisted my husband to cancel the reservation in Sheraton and instead stay in Novotel but our excitement to stay near Times Square at a great hotel was shockingly shattered. They don’t have basic facilities like a coffee machine in the room and many of the sockets don’t even work... my stay in Novotel Mumbai was an amazing experience and I highly recommended the New York Novotel to maintain the same standards....
The lounge/bar to a hotel that was on the 5th floor. Just went for drinks and they wouldnt allow us to sit in the section with a decent view even though no one else was there. Was a nice and relaxing location to have some drinks before we went to the winter garden theatre for school of rock.
Room is facing time square, beds are comfy. Room is clean, nice big TV, little mini fridge for some drinks (no mini bar), safe in the room for your valuables, bathroom is nice, nice lobby with bar and restuarant, free coffee in the morning in the lobby, food is a little pricey but so is everything in time square
They gave us a room where there was water running under the cabinet in the and the sink was clogged. We had 4 people being one an elder and the hotel ‘suggested’ we stay without sink till next day until the bathroom is fixed. I complained and they suggested we sleep 4 people in a one bed room because they didn’t have room available. I complained again and they finally allocated somebody to fix. It’s passed midnight and I’m here with my elder mother waiting the bathroom to be fixed and all the noise of the maintenance and also the plumb smell. In addition the manager refused to refund me for the night claiming that the compensation for this inconvenience is $50 (and the price of the room is above $400 per night). Really?
I visited my mom when she stayed here and found the hotel to be lovely. However, she left items in the safe and the hotel has been completely unresponsive in trying to help her. I would not recommend this hotel.Update: concerning the nice note here, no one has contacted her. Horrible service!!!
We had a wonderful experience at the hotel, my family and I had a seven day trip to NYC, the staff was very friendly and professional, the online check in and the check out were fast and didnt have to make a line. The hotel is very well located at the theater district a walking distance to central park and times square. Next time Im defenetely coming back to this Hotel.

2019-11-20We absolutely loved our stay here. The entire hotel staff we very friendly and great to chat with. They are very insightful and can help you with tips for your trips. It was great there was a computer and printer available to guests since we left our show tickets home and needed to reprint them. The views are epic from everywhere in the hotel! The food at Supernova was also delicious. Room was very clean and bathroom was stocked with awesome toiletries incase you didnt bring any. We will definitely be returning here in the future.

2020-01-06This was the perfect choice for our very first time in the Big Apple. The location is amazing - imagine being right next to the Ed Sullivan theatre, Times Square, and a short walk away from the Rockefeller Centre. Excellent shopping is just a hop, skip and jump away too. There are plenty of dining options around the block, plus the hotel has a nice restaurant with great views. The room we had is sizeable, with a comfortable bed and decent storage space, The bathroom is small but well maintained, and you get all the Novotel toiletries. The Greek housekeeping lady did a great job of taking care of our needs. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, and shall definitely book here when in NYC next.

2020-08-10We stayed at the Novotel Times Square in March. The room and bathroom was good sized and clean. The hotel had great amenities for its size and we had no trouble with waiting times for elevators, they serviced every floor very efficiently (which isn’t the case in all NYC hotels). The hotel’s location is great, and particularly good for anyone visiting the Big Apple for the first time.A recommendation I could make, would be to upgrade your room to a Times Square view, either low or high. It’s a great view day or night.

2020-02-29First time going to New York City, and this hotel was awesome. Very pricey, but honestly was worth it. Compared to other hotels in the area, this particular room was pretty big, very clean, comfiest bed ever, giant windows with a beautiful view facing Time Sqaure from what I think was the 20th floor. Times Square is literally a 1 minute walk. So many pubs and restaurants around to choose from. Walgreens and Starbucks next door for coffee in the morning and grabbing snacks to bring back to your room, or to pick up an umbrella like we had to do. We ate dinner on the roof patio. Had a New York style hot dog that I didnt like at all, but that beer was very satisfying. There was a tv in the main lobby with fifa 18 on a ps4 with 2 controllers. If I was to ever return to this city, I will have to book the same room here. Staff here is so nice and very helpful. It was one of my all time favourite stays.

2020-01-15Our room looked out over Time Square with big picture windows. The lighting in the room is somewhat unique because the brightest light was the one on the headboard. We didnt find that switch until the 3rd day into our trip so the evenings had mood lighting where we pointed our reading lights and the desk lamp at what we wanted to see (making finding things somewhat adventurous). We were right across the hallway from a service entrance for the cleaning staff, but you never really heard them. Our room was immaculately cleaned every day. I would say that the only down side of the hotel was the guest check-in staff. They were not friendly, never smiled and never greeted anyone. However, the doorman at the entrance were the exact opposite. Get a smile from them every morning and evening and your day is made!!!!

2019-04-20I like this particular hotel because of its location. Near Times Square to be close to everywhere you need to be downtown yet far enough that you dont see or hear the massive throngs of tourists and crowds as one would closer to the square. The hotel has a more modern sensibility, decor-wise. Simple but clean. Color scheme may need to be updated though. Not a fan of the silver-teal theme they have going in the rooms. If you get to stay at a higher floor, and on the right side of the building, the views of downtown and the river are breathtaking. The front desk staff kinda hit or miss. Sometimes they are very nice, sometimes not so much rude as indifferent? It is a member of the Accor group of hotels and may be worth joining to avail of a few amenities like free wifi access and a welcome drink.Membership advantages are more useful in their European hotels though. All in all worth the stay.

2019-06-14The hotel is located right next to time square and the staff is really nice. The roof terrace gives you a spectacular view on to time square. However, the breakfast situation was a mess.not enough tables so we had to wait between 20 and 30 minutes to be seated. And all this while some people already left their tables for some time and only had to be cleaned. Clearly not enough staff to handle the buffet, cleaning the tables, bringing coffee to the tables and getting everyone seated.

2020-02-05A great hotel! Recently I stayed on another 4 stars hotel that looked like a 3 stars, but this time is being completely different! Im felling like Im on a 5 stars hotel! The room is big, the bed amazing, the shower is refreshing and the view is breathtaking.Another great feature is the gym. Its good to have this option. The breakfast is delicious with plenty of options. The crew is lovely. And to finish, the location is amazing. A few meters to the subway and right on the side of Times square, meaning that you have a lot of options for having fun. I totally recommend it.

2020-02-15Wow! What an incredible experience. Me and my girlfriend stayed there for Valentine’s Day and we loved this place. We got there and they had given us two queen size bedroom instead of a king but once we went back down Ian had no problem getting us an amazing king sized bed room. Ian was so nice and was really welcoming. We had the pleasure of dealing with him on our way in and out. We will definitely be staying there again. Thank you for an amazing experience.
