Narchi and Karla are spectacular! My husband and I feel so lucky that we were able to have them guide us through our third trimester, birth, and postpartum period. In addition to doula services, they came to our home for private prenatal classes on birth and lactation, which were very informative. I don’t know how we would have survived my zero to sixty labor without Narchi’s patient breath coaching and skillful massaging. Narchi also came to the rescue the day after we came home from the hospital and were struggling with incredibly painful breastfeeding. Karla literally showed us how to take care of our little man (breast feeding him with confidence and comfort, bathing and massaging him, carrying him in a wrap and structured carrier, meeting other moms in our area, etc.). We didn’t need a 24/7 baby nurse during the first few weeks postpartum, but we did need some guidance on how to survive during that period and beyond. Narchi and Karla provided the perfect amount of support and then gave us time and space to practice what they taught us while being available to answer all of our follow up questions via text/email. We love them and would recommend them to any expecting couple!
I had a wonderful experience with Narchi as my birth doula and Narchi and Karla as postpartum doulas. Narchi was so supportive and calm during my labor and delivery, and both Narchi and Karla were invaluable in the weeks afterward. They helped with everything we needed - lactation problems, baby care, figuring out what gear to buy - and after each of their visits I felt measurably more confident in my ability to handle parenthood. Best of all, they made themselves available to answer questions in the weeks before and after my delivery. My transition to motherhood was much smoother and less daunting because of them.
I had Jill and Sierra as my doulas and they were fantastic! Would recommend enthusiastically without reservation. Theyre a great team. Jill is super knowledgeable about natural ways to help with discomfort during pregnancy and help you figure out what itll be like to have a second kid and how to set yourself up for successful recovery/rest postpartum. Sierra has a wonderful calm and soothing energy and presence. Theyre both just great.
Very grateful to Narchi and Karla for all they did to help bring our healthy baby boy into the world! It was so helpful to have them to answer any and all questions during my pregnancy and on the big day, Narchi was such a reassuring presence for both myself and my husband. After the birth, theyve both been so helpful with everything from teaching us how to use baby gear to assisting with the babys first bottle feed to ensure it went smoothly. It is so wonderful to have someone who advocates for and helps you and your baby throughout the entire process. So glad we hired them and highly recommend them to all!
Karla and Narchi assisted the births of both of our children and they are amazing. They provided a lot of information and guidance, during birth as well as postpartum. My second birth happened at home by accident and I will be forever grateful to Karla for being present and delivering the baby (EMS arrived 2 minutes before). Her presence there is what got me through the experience, both mentally and physically.
The support Karla and Narchi provided me and my family was invaluable!Throughout a demanding labor I had my needs continually met despite the difficulty I had communicating these needs – I was amazed by Karla’s responsiveness and intuition! She made it possible to follow my birth plan as closely as possible given the circumstances, respectfully relaying my wishes to providers when I was unable. She also guided my husband so that he could help me and have a key role in my labor. Afterwards he told me how essential Karla was to his ability to support me. Even my parents let me know that they were very impressed by Karla.During the postpartum period (when I though I wouldn’t need as much help!), I was comforted by Narchi and Karla’s wisdom and their compassionate presence. They answered my many questions, helped me find solutions that worked for my household, and truly took care of me.I would not have had the experience I wanted without Karla and Narchi – they were truly vital. We’re definitely going to work with them again for the next pregnancy!
It’s hard to find the words that give Karla and Narchi enough credit for everything they did for me and my husband during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. They were absolutely crucial in making it the most incredible experience from start to finish. As a first-time mom and dad, there are so many unknowns but after two sessions (and emails and texts and phone calls) with these ladies, you feel ten times more physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared for labor and how your life will change after.I was one of the VERY lucky mamas who was able to follow my birth plan to a T. I credit that to their support - Narchi was with me to labor as long as possible at home, with me during our 1.5 hour car ride to the hospital, and there to correct the nurse who said my baby’s heart rate was dropping, when really it was mine (if she hadn’t corrected the nurse, I could have easily had an unnecessary c-section). But I gave birth naturally 1.5 hours after arriving at the hospital and she was there for me through it all! She stayed with me for a few hours after my baby boy was here since my blood pressure had spiked just to make sure I was OK. She also took the most amazing photos of our family of three right after birth. I will cherish them forever. The postpartum visits were a HUGE help! They just helped with the transition into new motherhood so much - they helped me breastfeed my baby and also made sure I was caring for myself and taking the time to recover - birth is a crazy experience and there is not enough care for new moms from many doctors, but Karla and Narchi changed that for me. I can’t say enough about these ladies - they are the absolute best. And I’ll end with this - my husband was a little skeptical of a doula at first mostly bc he didn’t understand their role, but after going through everything with them, he is their biggest fan and is practically shouting from the mountain tops how everyone needs a doula (specifically Karla and Narchi).
Narchi and Karla are excellent. They will be your best choice if you are looking for un-medical deliver or VBAC.I have my first baby with a very bad experience of c-section. When i have the second baby, My original OB do not support VBAC. Narchi and Karla give me a lot of information and help me to switch to other medical team which are very support VBAC.The 2 prenatal visit give me a lot of information, including exercise/therapy to help nature deliver, some exercise i can do during deliver to help the progress fast. And also give good suggestion to help our elder daughter to accept baby. They also suggest some very useful stuff we will use for deliver and after deliver. They are so professional and sweet. When the deliver date come. Narchi is my oncall Doula. It happened in the night, i call Narchi on 4 am and explain Narchi what happen and Narch tell me what to do and make me relax. When 4:30 am, i think my pain get intense i asked Narchi to come to my home and she arrive at 5 am when i an 311 and so pain. When she arrive, She help me to breath and seat in right position and then i can manage the pain again, otherwise i will pain to die in the taxi. She make the right decision for us to go hospital, my water broke immediately when we arrive in hospital. Her hand have never leave my body to help me deliver and relax the pain, even she help me to communicate with the nurse for the IV and also give me the instruction how to push before the midwife come. with her help, 20 mins i get from 5 to 10, and after another 40 mins, i have my baby.
Im so happy to have found Narchi! She served as our postpartum doula after the birth of my second daughter. I had been quite apprehensive about how my toddler would acclimate to all of the changes, and also concerned about basic household management stuff, on top of preparing for the birth of our baby! Narchis calm manner and steady support were contagious. She assisted me with essential tasks early on, including giving my daughter her first bath and helping me make some nutritious snacks. Additionally, she ensured that I got the rest I needed while assisting with tasks such as organizing baby clothes. I whole-heartedly recommend Narchi as a postpartum doula. Shes patient, kind, understanding, and was always so present. Thank you, Narchi, for your amazing support and helping my family through a beautiful yet rough transition.
I am very thankful to have found Narchi and Karla. I interviewed several doulas prior to meeting them. I instantly connected with both of them and knew that they were the right fit for my needs and my family. Both are very pleasant and knowledgable about the body and the birthing process. I wanted to have a natural birth without any medical interventions but at the same time I wasn’t sure if I would be able to withstand labor. Narchi arrived shortly after I went into labor and remained by my side for 24 hours hours (I was in labor for 30hours!). Narchi guided me throughout the entire process. She was absolutely essential during active labor. I don’t believe I would have been able to withstand the contractions without her by my side. I would certainly hire them again. Thank you Narchi and Karla!
I highly recommend Narchi as a post partum doula. She was a great support for me and my baby during the difficult 6-8 week period. Narchi has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on, and I really appreciated her proactive attitude when I was at a loss of what to do. I felt like she understood my baby so well, and I had complete confidence in her. In addition to helping me understand practical aspects of baby care, she also helped me process the huge variety of post partum emotions that come along with a new child. On top of everything else, she is a very, very talented cook! I felt well nourished in so many ways during our time with Narchi.
The doula team that I worked with were Jill and Sierra. Deciding to hire a doula was one the best investment choices of my life.Sierra and Jill are simply incredible. Prior to, and during this pregnancy my husband and I had been though a great deal of trauma around trying to conceive. This caused me to doubt my body’s power and lowered my confidence In myself as a woman. In our prenatal visits Jill and Sierra allowed me the space to acknowledge my fears and attach to them less. I knew that I wanted my birth in a hospital but also wanted it to be natural, with as little intervention possible and no pain medication.Jill was present during my birth and she provided me with the perfect blend of evidence based advice, expertise and guidance whenever my doctors were recommending an intervention . She did this both prior to and during my birth. She trained me on what I can say to the hospital staff to avoid the temptation of the pain medication. My labor lasted 24 hours and was induced. Early in, the doctors wanted to break my water. I did not want this, Jill’s preparation and support gave me the courage to push back and ask for more time to let my body labor naturally.Jill’s strength, and encouragement helped me overcome the intensity of the induction without pain medication for 16 hours. This is no easy task, since Pitocin makes you have contractions so often and so strong right from the beginning. Despite this, Jill got me into a natural rhythm that allowed my body to open and relax . She guided me through the transition with grace and kindness.By the 17th hour I was exhausted and told her I wanted to get the epidural, for fear of not having enough energy to push and then the labor ending in a c section. She encouraged me to try a little longer in such a supportive way. I ended up deciding on getting the epidural about a half hour later and she was completely supportive of that choice too.I pushed for 3 hours and ladies, epidural or no, you feel that. Two weeks later, as I write this I wish I could go back to that three hours.I wish I could relive that moment when I went from a woman who doubted my body, my strength, my female power because of everything that happened to make me loose faith in myself and transformed into a woman that advicates for her wants, feels her power and her beauty and brings a child into the world on that solid foundation.I’m 100% sure that my birth experience would not have been what it was without Jill. She taught me that it’s strong to be vulnerable and demand someone to hold your hand when you are scared, that it’s ok to be primal of you need to be.I can’t speak for the other doulas at this practice, but if they are anything like Jill, it will be the best money you have ever spent.Every woman deserves the birth experience that THEY want. Do this for yourselves and your babies ladies. It’s worth it.
Can’t say enough about Narchi and Karla. They are both incredibly knowledgeable, warm and lovely women. Their attentiveness and reassuring presence helped ease the aches, pains and fears of pregnancy and labor. Their instinct alone is unrivaled; they knew what needed to be done, how it needed to be done and when it needed to be done. If only thank yous were enough. Highly, highly recommend Narchi and Karla and NYC Birth Village.
Sam and Erica were amazing! They make a seamless team, as they complement each others knowledge. In all of our interactions with them, they were professional, reliable, and passionate about their work. My wife and I debated back and forth whether to get a doula, but after the baby came, we were extremely glad we did. Erica was our doula on the day of birth, and she helped calm the room and applied techniques that, as much as a partner can read about, really need the hand of a trained professional. Both of them were great to work with, and we highly recommend them to anyone thinking about getting a doula.
We had a great experience with Sam and Erica, who lent much appreciated insight to the birth of our son, both pre-, during and post. My husband and I were on the fence about including a doula for the big day, but Sams calm and experience were invaluable during our delivery. We felt supported and advocated for throughout the process.
We used Narchi Jovic as our doula for the labor and delivery of each of my sons ~ she is absolutely incredible and I wouldnt want to have done it without her -- and my husband feels the same :)She made an amazing difference - and although my first was so late I had to be induced, my second was a natural unmedicated birth...So grateful. She is absolutely wonderful.

2021-04-19Due to the global pandemic, my mom was not able to come help us after the birth of our daughter. So we reached out to NYC Birth Village for post partum services. Rachel visited us a few days after birth and I remember her presence to be so appeasing. Her soft voice, her gentle manners, her very supportive words and reassurance that we were doing great were a bright light in the tornado that these first few weeks are. I am breastfeeding and she ensured my baby was latching on properly and eating enough and also helped me identifying hunger cues. She also assisted us in giving our daughter her first bath.5 months later we reached out to Rachel again because we were having troubles introducing a bottle (our baby was starting daycare) and I was worried about my milk supply as I was not pumping much. I felt calm and relaxed as soon as Rachel walked in. We spent 3 hours together and during that time I pumped more than I ever had and my husband was able to give our daughter a bottle! I am so grateful we met her!

2019-07-27Karla and Narchi were an integral part of both my children’s births. Hiring them was truly the best decision we made and I fully attribute the two very positive birthing experiences I had to having Karla by my side. Karla knew every little thing to do to maximize my emotional and physical comfort, from how to handle early labor at home, to how to position myself in the car on the way to the hospital, to keeping it together when things were getting challenging as my labor progressed. I cannot imagine how much different my experience would have been without her expertise. She made me feel as comfortable, relaxed, and confident as one could feel being in such a vulnerable position, anticipating my every need before I did. My husband felt such relief with her there as well- she was able to direct him in how to help me most when he understandably did not know what to do! It was so nice to have the postpartum visits as well. Karla and Narchi were a huge help with breastfeeding challenges I had (different issues with each child), helped me figure out baby wearing devices, assembled baby contraptions, taught me how to use the pump, prepared healthy snacks for me, recommended new mom groups- I could go on and on... Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum time are such a whirlwind and choosing to have these experts by my side made everything go as smoothly as possible. So very thankful I found them and will be forever grateful to them for being such a wonderful part of one of life’s most intimate and amazing experiences.

2021-07-03Danielle is amazing! She was my husband’s and my postpartum doula for our first child. I was new to the idea of doulas and was not quite sure what it would entail, but Danielle far exceeded our expectations and now I think all new parents should seek out postpartum doula services. It was always a relief when it was one of her days to come over since she was great at helping feed and sooth our baby, show us essential baby care techniques, help my body heal from childbirth and aches from nursing, and also help tidy up baby things in our apartment - all in 3 hours a few times a week. She was also very fun to chat with at a time where it is hard to get out of the house to meet with friends! Danielle was easily trustworthy so we had her do an overnight visit early on. We were able to actually sleep through the whole night and did not hear cries from our baby since Danielle was very alert and engaged in caring for him.NYC Birth Village was very professional and easy to contact and work with. We felt safe with their covid precautions. All in all, they provided an excellent service and their 6-week doula plan was the right amount of help we needed, compared to the other doula agencies we looked into.I highly recommend having Danielle be your postpartum doula! We miss her already, yet are now much more confident as new parents in caring for our son.

2018-12-17Karla and Narchi are wonderful doulas!!! I couldnt be happier to have them share in my pregnancy journey. My husband and I are so thankful for all their support - they both provided me with postpartum support while Karla was present for my labor and delivery.I had a long labor where I spent some time at home before going to the hospital - Karla provided a lot of pain management techniques and really helped me with my progress. She was very patient and calm especially at the hospital when my contractions got very severe and I was waiting for an epidural - it was such an intense experience and I seriously would not have been able to go through it all without her - both mentally and physically! She was also very knowledgeable and had a lot of experience at my hospital (MSW). She stayed with me until the birth of my son and helped me with breastfeeding. As a new mom, I was also really glad for the postpartum visits with Karla and Narchi - they both provided a lot of very useful information and guidance, especially with breastfeeding and making sure that I was also getting care for myself and taking the time to properly recover.Birth and motherhood are incredible, life changing and overwhelming experiences - I will always be grateful for all their support!!

2019-06-04Narchi and Karla were ESSENTIAL to having a good birth experience. After learning about unmedicated birth, I really wanted to try it but couldnt imagine getting the kind of support I knew Id need. Labor is such an intimate experience, and Im a very private person :) Karla and Narchi dont just know about the birth process and infant care; they know how to make you feel loved and confident. They felt like old friends from day 1 and helped my husband and I navigate our first birth experience (and pre-birth and post-birth!) like we knew what we were doing. I would hire them a million times over.

2020-02-13We spent a lot of time with the professionals from NYC Birth Village around the birth of my first child. We took the child care and childbirth classes, had 2 prenatal visits, my birth, four postpartum visits, and a lactation visit with our doulas, Sam and Erica, and a back to work class with Jamie. Thanks to these lovely, warm, friendly, responsive, and caring ladies we were able to have the birth experience that we really wanted, which we felt very prepared for. We felt supported through difficulty with breastfeeding, and the tough transition of going back to work. Through a time that could have been intimidating, isolating, or even terrifying, we were able to focus on joy and wonder because of the support we received. It was a priceless gift.I would recommend this practice to anyone who is expecting and doesnt want to go it alone. It made a world of difference for us to have them there, and we are forever grateful.

2020-02-11We were so grateful to have the support from Jill as a postpartum doula after our daughter was born. With not having family locally, she provided us with peace of mind in knowing wed have someone coming by that could help guide us during those early, sleepless weeks. We asked her so many questions and she helped us navigate things like our babys first bath, baby wearing, and even helped us get dinner together and do a load of laundry when it was what we needed most. She was very intuitive, caring, and sweet towards our baby. We even reached out to her again recently when we needed a last minute babysitter! I would definitely recommend services provided by NYC Birth Village, and Jill in particular!

2021-03-12I worked with Rachel and Kelci for in person labor and post partum support for my sons birth in November. It was my first time using a doula although my second pregnancy/birth. I am very glad that I chose this team of doulas to help me before, during and after my sons birth. After having difficulty with post partum issues and breastfeeding with my first child, I wanted to have more support with my second child. I found them both to have.a warm, gentle, and loving approach. They were also able to troubleshoot with me when I needed help with nursing, my sons GI issues, optimizing naps and sleeping, and mental health support. i chose in person since I was comfortable with having them in my home wearing masks. They were very responsive and available for text support and also had some video chats in addition to in person visits.

2017-12-28I have to echo all the positive things being said about Narchi and Karla as doulas. We had a wonderful experience working with both of them from about 20 weeks onwards. They provided us pre-natal support, birthing classes and breastfeeding classes in the comfort of our apartment before my son was born. Narchi attended my birth and was invaluable support to both me and my husband when our birth plan didnt go as planned. Having her expertise and experience helped us make informed decisions and feel confident we had all the necessary information to do so. Once my son was born we were so grateful for the postpartum visits by both Karla and Narchi. We would create long lists of questions and they always had answers. They also continued to be very responsive to questions when concerns arose post birth. We were so sad for our time with Narchi and Karla to end but were so grateful when they responded for one last request for breastfeeding support. I highly encourage all new and expecting parents to give themselves the gift of Narchi and Karlas support.

2018-09-09From the moment we met Narchi and Karla we knew we had found the right people to support us in this experience. We felt immediately comfortable, soothed by their presence, wisdom and warmth. Narchi and Karla supported us impeccably every step of the way from learning about challenges in the pregnancy to having to make shifts in the birth plan, to preparing for a c-section, to referring us to a doctor to perform an ECV which was successful, then quickly changing plans to prepare for a vaginal birth. We had a long and confusing labor, but Narchi’s solid presence throughout somehow kept us going, helping me to push past what I thought was possible and so expertly supporting myself, my husband, and daughter to stay with the process which resulted in having a natural birth with no intervention despite many obstacles snd doubts on my part.We can’t say how grateful we are for these two wonderful women who held our hands, heads, and hearts through the preparation, labor, and early times with our new little love, Iliana. We wholeheartedly recommend their services to any prospective parents!
