Honestly people think metropolitan hospital may not be the best but when it comes to the emergency room & working fast to help you.. they are the BEST. Every single time i come in i am seen quickly compared to Mount Sinai & Presbyterian Hospital, every time i get my own room and dont have to share with people. All staff are nice and listen to you very well. Like i said it may not be the most aesthetic hospital but it sure does get the job done to get out and all fixed up as soon as they can. Thank you so much to all the medical team & for your services, i really appreciate it.

I just brought my son in for a lengthy surgery. It was an all day affair and being from the island a long day for us all. I cannot praise the staff members, Nurses , desk workers and anyone else who crossed our paths that day for being so patient, understanding and above all helpful . Our experience as a whole made a very intense day so much lighter . Thank you to all that crossed my path and cared for my son that day . You all went beyond making us comfortable and the days events go so smoothly. You are all truly the definition of kindness and caregiversThank you 💗

Came in with Covid symptoms. Was greeted by a Police Officer who tried to turn me away because they weren’t doing Covid testing anymore because it was past 5pm. Emphatically kept motioning towards the door and wouldn’t let me get on the line to be admitted. You’re not a medical professional and this is an emergency room! Why do you have any say what’s going on?! Why did i even tell you about my symptoms now that I think about it… Why does this non medical professional have any say who’s in an emergency room vs. who’s not? People show up for dumb reasons, sure, but isn’t that for a doctor or nurse to decide?! Maybe I’m just a complainer today because of my severe chest pain…

I went to the ER via ambulance due to tachycardia and breathing problems. I was instructed upon entry to sit in a chair outside of triage before my vitals was checked I was instructed to put on a mask. Keep in mind I’m having problems breathing and I’m also asthmatic. Both was expressed to the triage nurse who still expected me to put a mask on. After a minute or two I was given wrist bands. I noticed that I didn’t have my red band which lets whomever is treating me know I’m allergic to whatever beware. I informed the triage nurse of my missing red band. Her response was I doubt you’ll be given that but I’ll give it to you anyway. She gave it to me and disappeared. I’m assuming this wasn’t important to anyone because before proceeding to check my vitals she answers a person call from her son about his 9:30 baseball practice and how he needs his uniform. They go back and forth about where his information is and who’s taking him to practice. Once she sorted out her personal affairs. She then come and take my vitals and leaves again. Minutes pass by again and then a nurse comes through the glass doors to let me know she looking for a space for me because there’s no beds. The same nurse calls my name and instruct me to follow her. She takes me to an area with 4 connecting seats facing pediatrics. Little did I know this where I will wait and speak with the attending physician. I waited there for sometime before becoming agitated due to being light head and dealing with chest pains. A nurse walks out the door for pediatrics and I asked her if she’s going to the front desk can she please inform someone I’m having trouble breathing and I feel light headed. Her response was I don’t work in this department I work in pediatrics. So I waited a while longer. A nurse then calls my name for a urine sample. She hands me the paper bag and points to the bathroom area. I walked there barely making it. I reached the bathroom and stumbled into the sink. I put water on my face and proceeded to collect the sample. Once done I came out looking for the nurse to inform her of my recent incident. She’s no where to be found. I returned to my bench area and waited. Time passes by again the nurse appears to take my sample and leaves me there waiting again. Some time passed by what seems to be forever and the attending physician appears. Only to ask me if I Psychotic and would I be open to speaking with a therapist because I looked stressed. I informed the doctor what may be the cause of my health problems and I haven’t been able to consume food or drinks due to this incident. I had to ask for certain procedures to be performed prior to my discharge being processed and was told he needed permission from his supervisor and he’ll let me know.( I’ve never been treated this badly in my entire life and I don’t go to the ER unless I have to)The doctor proceeds to leave time passes again. A nurse appears and informed me that they have my room ready. She showed me to room 10 and leave. Time passed by again and a nurse comes in instructing me to take some pills. I ask is it safe for breastfeeding moms. She looks at me shocked and says oh you breastfeed I’ll check with the doctor and come back. She then leaves only to return moments later stating she googled it and it’s safe. (What??) I shrugged it off and took the medication eagerly hoping it’ll make me feel better. I was told it’ll take a half hour to move through my system and take affect. I said ok 40 mins later the room was spinning my oxygen level drops to seventy my son took photos. The machine beeped loudly but no one came. I passed out. Then was awakened by a nurse that said I was being discharged and needed to get ready to leave. I informed the nurse I don’t feel well I feel light head and my heads pounding can I get an hr of rest hoping that’ll be sufficient enough to gather myself. He said he have to ask the doctor and left. The doctor came in and said ok. I hr later the Nurse asked if I was ready to go. I said I really don’t feel well. She said well it’s be an HR you need to leave.

This place took way too long for me to get help, not just that but also thank God I didnt have anything worse. There was no one at the front desk. I keep knocking down 10 minutes in the window until someone assisted me. They just took my papers and said they were busy even though Im the only person here waiting outside. Bad hospital!!!

This is a horrible hospital… my sister had surgery… I was with her after …the day staff was terrible,it took two hours for them to tell us she could , not because they didn’t know it’s like they forgot about her ,she had to go to the bathroom… we press the call button they’d come 30 minutes later , she has a fall risk band and instead of helping her to the bathroom all was done was they’d unhook her from the IV and leave … I was arguing with a nurse that’s been there since 7am ( she said ) we didn’t see her until six to bring pain medicine that she needed every six hours she didn’t get it until 5:45 pm …

UNBELIEVABLY RUDE RECEPTIONIST.I called in regards to a phone appointment I was scheduled for. I didnt receive the call (possibly due to lack of reception while on my commute)When I called to explain and to simply reschedule, as soon as I said I never recruited the call her response was:Oh so its the doctors fault right? Right Its the doctors fault but we dont need to discuss that so what do you want to do.I was being polite and only wanted to ask to reschedule, even after her response. I never lost my cool.Someone like that should not be working for health care period. Shes needs to be terminated immediately. The doctors are truly great though and super helpful.

Don’t send your loved ones here if you can help it. Metropolitan hid behind COVID regulations to hide misconduct and theft. Someone from this place stole my dads cell phone (the only way we were able to successfully reach him). The social workers seem to change everyday so you can’t keep a pulse on how your loved one is doing. And to top it off, they won’t even tell you when major things happen. My dad was transferred to the medical unit. We were not informed. We just called for days until someone was nice enough to provide us the information. All in all, this place isn’t for people you love.
