I went to the woodhull emergency room, and the service was great. I dislocated my knee and they made the very painful process as efficient as possible. Thank you so much, my knee is healing well and this wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t gotten such great treatment! I especially want to thank Dr. Udis and her team!
I don’t like to leave negative reviews but phew. I came to the ER with my friend who had alcohol poisoning and though I expected to not be allowed back to the room, they wouldn’t even pass along her phone, wallet, ID, keys etc to her. I called multiple times to check on her and ask when I should come back to get her and eventually they answered and said they sent her off (still very confused as to what led her there in the first place) to find her way home without any essential belongings, even though the hospital had my number as a contact and knew I had her things. She also was in a room full of people with no curtains or privacy or any of that. I would avoid this hospital if you can.
Even 1 star is too good. I was demonstrative of a stroke and they parked my gurney in the hallway. When I did finally make it behind a curtain in the actual ER, I was sharing this small space with a girl who had urine in a cup in the bed with her. There were a host of other subpar conditions that I observed. When the doctor finally got around to seeing me, he inaudibly told me his name. He spoke in an extremely incoherent accent and was soooo nasty. There is no other way to describe him. He became annoyed with any question I asked even if it was because I didnt understand him and told me if I wanted to leave I could or I could let him check me. He walked away never to return. I left like he told me and 24 hrs later someone called to follow up. When I told the woman what my experience was she said she wished me luck in having a better experience. Please believe me when I say this hospital exceeds its reputation of being a death sentence for people in need of emergency medical care. You will be better off going to the urgent care center or walkin medical clinic less than you a block away
I had an appointment for Neurology at 11 am on Monday. I checked in at 10:48. I sit down and wait patiently and do my claswork while I wait. I then hear about an hour later last call for Rampersaud come to registration desk. They told they were calling me. I apologized and said I didnt hear my name. So they take me inside. The RN or whatever title starts going off I was calling you I am loud and basically blaming me the patient and that doctor has left to go and take care of inpatients. I have severe anxiety and start crying and ask what am I supposed to do now. She tells to stop getting loud with her so I got loud and said I am crying. Like why did they wait for the doctor to leave to call me over the loud speaker. I needed this appointment I have lost feeling down my leg and had to learn to walk again. Now that called me and have me marked down as a no show. I work in Healthcare and we made sure to get into contact with a patient in various ways to ensure they see the provider before they left. I hate this place.
New to New York... Everything about my vist was wonderful today. I had a 2.5 wait total, including waiting at the pharmacy.. Everyone from begining to end was very sweet and helpful.. The Fast Track Doctors & Nurses went above & Beyond... Take a Bow 👌... This is how a Hospital should be. Thank You all.
In 2010 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at woodhall hospital and i had a wonderful experience . The facility and the labor staff was amazing. I love the private room with my own bathroom . Who knew 10 years later I would be back. My time at woodhall was so mamerible that in 2020 when it was time for me to give birth to my little man I couldnt think of any other hospital i wanted to go. During my pregnancy I found out I was diabetic and was given a diabetic GYN doctor. The best doctor I ever met doctor Jessica Lyn. She was amazing , encouraging and caring. The hold maternity staff from sono nurses, gyn doctors ,to deliver was phenomenal. 👍👍👍👍❤
I want to let everyone know that i had one of the best possible experiences at WoodHull ER today. I came due to a complication from a office procedure - i was in tremendous discomfort/pain/terrible shape - and I was seen fairly quickly. What made this experience so pleasant for me was the ER staff. A special shout out to Yitzy Shollar PA, Kyle Amesterdamn RN, Viola Ferriolol RN, and Kernold Alves PA. They made a very scary and painful visit so much easier. They were all kind, compassionate, responsive and very knowledgeable. Yitzy is the MAN, hes who you want to take care of you if you are in trouble! Excellent bedside manners, great person, and very very knowledgeable. Im so thankful for coming here, to be helped and to be discharged fairly quickly. I say this not as just a patient but also a doctor. Ive seen a lot of ERs and i had an incredible experience here. Im very very grateful for being there today.
I give no stars,I have lost 3 doctors in almost two years. I have felt neglected. The supposed doctor that is sitting in until I get a new one is taking my meds away and Im not feeling well. My previous doctors did it the right way. You are suppose to get me off medicine slowly. Im making a complaint this week.I might leave the hospital after more than 20yrs.
I got my 3 months old baby sleeping on my chest and i was watching video and talking on the phone to my mom. Someone ( could be a nurse , i dont know) reported that i was sleeping with my baby on my chest. And this person sent the social worker to talk to me. That wasnt true. When i was tired, i put my baby on his crib. I wont put my baby in danger. This isnt my first child. I will never bring my child to this hopital. After that situation I dont want to leave my child alone. Even to go find something to eat or take a shower. I dont trust them.
Would give 0 stars if i could. i don’t know why any of the emergency room staff works here as they all clearly hate their jobs. incredibly rude staff, the cop at the entrance was incompetent and actually was laughing at a homeless man who was trying to kill himself in the ER….didn’t even get off her chair or try to call anyone….reception was incredibly rude, please go to literally any other hospital
My daughter is here and this is the most inept hospital I have ever dealt with. Her cellphone has been stolen and no one will do anything about it. They claim it isn’t on her inventory sheet (which she hasn’t seen), but I spoke to her on it after she was admitted so they are wrongIt’s an IPhone 12, red, and I just bought it for her in MarchWhy is the reference number for all bad reviews the same number?
If I could give this hospital 0 stars, I would. This is not a hospital, It’s a jail.I thought South Nassau was bad, but this hospital is a new level of LOW. The staff are like corrections officers. The nurses are RUDE and aggressive. It’s unbelievable. Just DUMB. I can’t believe this hospital isn’t being shut down.
My son was recently brought to the ER.After the normal interminable wait, he was evaluated and released.By this time, his phone had died, he was without his contact lenses or any money.Yet, he was sent out into an unfamiliar area of Brooklyn at 4am .Somehow he made it home after a couple of hours of walking.Thank God, but no thanks to a medical care center that treats human beings in this manner.
Thank You Lord Jesus for giving me another day, Thank You LORD for the Cross Your Mercy and Grace. Ok here is my experience going to this hospital. Waiting depends on the day/ time you attend. I was in and out 20 minutes but the best day(for me) is Friday from 8am-1pm. Overall this hospital gets 5 out of 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was on vacation in NYC when I got infected with COVID-19. I wanted to do a PCR test and Woodhull Hospital was the closest test center to the hotel I quarantined in. I pre-registered online. When I got there everybody was very friendly and helpful. I waited 10min to get tested and the assistant helped me to set up MyChart in order to be able to receive my result online. The result was uploaded 12 hours after the test. Thankful for the quick help and assistance.
Good luck trying to get through to your doctor via telephone or MyChart. They’ll schedule you telehealth appointments and then the MyChart will mark them as a past appointment well before the time of the appointment, and then the appointment will never happen and the MyChart will mark it as completed. I don’t know what the problem is whether it’s lazy receptionists or a technological malfunction or probably a combination of both. If you don’t have Medicaid, find a doctor ANYWHERE else. And if you do have Medicaid sadly this is the fate our local and federal governments have subjected us to.
Ophthalmologist department is the worst. We been waiting there for 3 hours to be call and then wait another hour for the eye test. The staff is very rude with all the people there. They dont want to be bother and they keep saying put the card there and seat.We can ask anything regarding appoitmens.Mu mom is an old person. We were there early and she didnt ate nothing before and we wait there for more than 4 hours to be seen.
Woodhull is a dangerous hospital. I thought I could be having a stroke or seizure and 911 took me there. I was left in the hall having a seizure - arms flailing, difficulty catching my breath, full body shaking. One doctor walked by and said shes having a seizure, to which another who had not examined me said no, shes not. Thankfully, I had a friend come drive me to Weill Cornell where I was diagnosed within the hour with a [...] seizure.
11/20/2020 - I can’t speak to other aspects of the facility, but I came here to get a Covid test and was truly impressed. We arrived around 8:15AM (the testing site opens at 8:30) after trying City MD, Modern MD and Wycoff sites (all with lines down the block and in the cold from 7:15 onwards). Anyways - We were greeted at the front entrance here and told to follow a red line to the Covid site inside the building. From there we waited (socially distanced, some time on benches and some time standing), were handed clipboards to fill out standard info, and then were called by name to be tested all a very painless and well run process. The women that are running this site (+ the man from the clinic across the hall that came to help!) deserve to be commended and respected. They were warm, organized, friendly and efficient. We were on our way by 10:30a (a much quicker process from that I imagine we would have experienced waiting outside/in the cold). By the time we left I already had received an email prompting me to setup the portal where test results will be sent. Not sure if it’s clear but highly recommend coming by - especially early in the morning - for testing needs if required.
Its the incompetent woman behind the desk in the ultrasound department. She lost my insurance card, and proceeded to blame me for it. Then months later after continuously coming to my ultrasound appointments for six months, she thought it was a genius idea to ask for my insurance card again… I told her no and the last time I gave it to her she lost it. She had to call the insurance company to send a replacement. I don’t know what kind of insurance scam she’s trying to run but no thank you. Don’t know why they can’t hire people that have brains. There was a younger man here for some time and he was great.. he just took your name and let you sit down as you waited to be called to the back. She decided to also ask if I had covid symptoms when they literally ask all that basic stuff at the entry point in the hospital. For an old woman she acts very oblivious to simple things. Don’t know if she’s just a receptionist or if she has schooling. I truly doubt she has any schooling. Probably working with a GED. Definitely nothing beyond high school.
From the 80s we called Woodhull aka Killerhull. Long wait times. Poor patient services. Everything just sucks about this place. They even misdirect you to places around the building only to find out its the wrong place. Maybe best thing here is there W.i.C department.
This is the worst hospital ever. The nurses and doctors couldnt care less about your well-being. I waited for an hour to the doctor to see me in the EMERGENCY room. And when I asked the person at the desk they were like maam please wait patiently. Ive seen fast food workers have more urgency than these people.
Even for an American medical facility the staff here are incredibly stupid and woefully incompetent. Do not come to this location for a walk-up vaccine, you will be turned away. Also dont bother making an appointment because when you arrive you will be turned away. There are no vaccines available at this location.
One of the worst hospital populated by the worst nurses and medic personnel. I was dying or pain from kidney stone and i had to wait 5 hours for a shot of morphine and it was a clam night with only few patients treated. Now I understand why people died of covid here. They should all be fired.
UPDATE: I received my second dose yesterday and everything was completely different. There was clear organization of vaccine recipients right when you walked into the auditorium, and patients’ appointment times seemed to be honored. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time and I only had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be called to receive my vaccine. Had to wait another couple of minutes upstairs and I had the shot in my arm after another few minutes. All in all I was in and out in 45 minutes!! Props to this hospital, they seemed to clean everything up very well!I got a covid vaccine here and I am extremely appalled at the negligence of this facility. We were told to wait in an auditorium for some time in order to wait for our turn to get the vaccine. My appointment was for 1:15 and I had to wait until around 5 to be picked to get the vaccine. During this wait we were given no updates or details on what would happen and how the vaccine process worked. People were taking off their masks or wearing them as chin guards including the employees there. No masking was enforced which seems extremely reckless for a hospital setting let alone a waiting room for covid vaccine recipients. Would totally recommend to go elsewhere as the entire hospital seems to be run similarly.
Job requirements are:-being able to be cold/heartless to patients-not caring/forgetting about patients-must be able to lie-must be disrespectful towards all patients. If you dont have any of those characteristics, you can not work here at Woodhull hospital. From the emergency room, to pediatrics, orthopedic and even the secretaries/staff are total nightmares here!
If there was a button for no stars this would be it! I went there cause I had severe asthma and I had my card and info ready the lady at the front desk told me to go to triage 6. So there I am waiting the for an hour ask the doctors like 4 times I ask other patients that where ahead of me waiting which was only 3 of them ask them how long they been waiting there was an elderly who was waiting there SINCE 10A.M. AND THE TIME THAT I GOT THERE WAS AT 4:30 PM I LEFT AT 5:30 PM and for the last time I ask the doctor he told me when he had a chance he will get to me they treated these patients like as if they arent human 😔
Was admitted overnight and had I had the chance to choose the hospital I would never have gone here. I will tell you DO NOT go to this hospital, the staff is rude, cannot answer simple questions and has zero empathy (probably overworked and underpaid) , their facilities are gross and their management is extremely disorganized. Be prepared to be treated like a dog, wait half a day to be seen, be sent all around the hospital for a simple task or transferred multiple times over the phone to not even get a problem resolved. Also watch your stuff, they’ll loose it if it’s taken by the hospital or it’ll get stolen.
Spent 4 hours in the emergency room to see doctors come in and tend to patients that came in AFTER me. My blood pressure is up, I have a lump in my neck, suffering from pain in my neck for over a week and suffer from pulmonary embolisms. I left to find another alternative to this place where black men get put behind everyone that came behind him.
This place should be privatized and all of their jobs terminated. Why would you go into healthcare if all you want to do is traumatize your patients? 0 communication either and as soon as you express any issue they gaslight you. I will be contacting an attorney for the trauma i received
The best place for dental problemsWhen I tell you I went to two hospitals and they wouldnt pull my tooth clearly in pain almost in tears and dentist felix helped me so much pull this tooth right out and relieved my pain thank you to the whole dental staff from recipiention to the xray they are all pleasant and helpful
I went in for an emergency room visit months ago. In the last few months, I have been receiving calls weekly asking me to pay an outstanding copayment, but I have yet to receive a bill in the mail and I have yet to see a bill appear on mychart (despite telling them this multiple times over the phone, and seeing the record of this visit on mychart). Because I havent received a bill, I do not have the information to pay this conventionally. NYC Woodhull, can you please actually send the bill, do your job and stop harassing me? I am literally trying to pay you, how are you all this thick?
Scheduled an appointment for a covid vaccine. Went to the auditorium, filled out the paperwork, waited patiently. Get called up. Showed the person handling paperwork my NYS health insurance card/paperwork, which included my current N.Y.C. address. The person started talking down to me about if I had a more valid proof of address to show the person because they have that insurance in NJ too. I tried to explain that I didnt have other paperwork on me at that moment. They then said Im speaking English. I know you must understand me because youre speaking English. Beyond rude. I just said Ill reschedule and walked out. My apartment mate got his vaccine at another center with literally just a package address made out to our current apartment with no issues. Get your vaccine somewhere else.
I’ve only visited a few times recently, and everyone I met with is super nice, kind, and took really great care of me. When I came back for revisit, I ran into the nurse lady who scanned me the first time, and she greeted me so warmly and wished me best of luck. Even writing this down I feel like crying 😭.Thank you to every medical worker at Woodhull for working doubly hard during this pandemic and saving our lives. You’ve done so much and are still working hard, yet you still are so kind and warm to us. ❤️ Best wishes to all of you! 🙏🙏❤️
Called the hospital to follow up about what I should do for the symptoms of my surgery. I told her my diagnosis and the procedure that was done. The nurse had no clue what the diagnosis was and told me she didnt understand or hadnt heard of it. I wanted to hang up in her face. How are you a nurse but you dont know what my very common diagnosis is.
Came in via ambulance after cutting my leg and requiring stitches. I was directed to sit down until someone came over to treat me. No one told the staff it was self inflicted so I sat around waiting to be seen with an open gash on my leg in the dirty emergency room. Once someone finally spoke to me, about 45 minutes later, and asked what happened, I told them I had cut myself and the all of a sudden rushed to treat me upon finding out it was self inflicted. Before they even got me a bed to sit on or a gown to change into they took all of my belongings and locked them up with no explanation. I overheard one nurse tell another “No one told me this was self inflicted, I would’ve put more urgency on it had I known.” I then sat in the trauma unit waiting to be stitched up for a few hours. After receiving stitches I sat around for another few hours waiting to be seen by a psychiatrist for a psych evaluation. After seeing the psychiatrist in the Emergency Psychiatric Unit, I was told I would be discharged but due to it being late at night I was to wait until the daytime doctor evaluated me. Okay... The only problem? There wasn’t enough beds for the number of patients admitted. Leaving myself and many other patients with the option of sleeping on the floor, or in a chair. In addition to this, they needed some bloodwork on me. Their solution was to have staff pull my blood right there in a dim common area. It took 3 tries between two nurses to find a vein. I was very dehydrated from being in the ER for 7 hours with no water, so it was hard to draw my blood. They told me to drink some water and I asked where I could do that only to be ignored. Later in the night I was awoken to be shown to a room with a bed to sleep in. Not that it’s a hotel, but there wasn’t any pillows. I later saw that no one had pillows, leaving everyone who was lucky enough to have a bed, lie flat on their back. The next day, another doctor evaluated me, only this one told me that I would be admitted to the psych unit. One doctor said I was stable enough to leave because I am treated in outpatient, another said I needed to be transferred to the psych unit because my cut required 7 stitches. After that I heard nothing from no one. The next day I saw yet another psychiatrist. This one told me I did not need to be admitted and I could be discharged if anyone (literally anyone) could vouch for my safety. So they discharged me. I told them I had no phone, wallet, or keys, because they were given to my boyfriend who I had come in with. I also told them I couldn’t reach him and asked if I could stay until I could get ahold of him. They told me that there was a courtesy phone in the lobby I could use. The only problem with the courtesy phone in the lobby? It only works to call IN the hospital. Otherwise, there was a pay phone. But again, I had no wallet. I asked customer service if there was any way I could contact my boyfriend to let him know I needed to be picked up but they were very rude and said their phone only called in the hospital. I then asked if I could call the unit I was on to see if they could make a call on my behalf, because again, even if I walked home, I didn’t even have to keys to my apartment. The staff at customer service told me they should have already done that for me, and that she couldn’t help me. Luckily, I ended up using the free phone across the street and waited outside for him. Overall, not a great experience. A majority of the staff I encountered seem to be annoyed at having to do their job.
The staff are s generally pleasant, that’s the ONLY reason Woodhull gets ANY stars at all! We have been waiting for nearly a year to have paperwork filled out to get a family member suffering from dementia on to Medicaid in order to get a home attendant. We need to create a “trust” for her. We are still waiting!
Everyone I know that has been to this hospital has said it’s the worst experience they’ve ever had. Someone please do something about this place- this is from concern, and to help future patients. This place needs to be bulldozed and hire a brand new staff. Absolutely horrific.
I was put there unfairly in the psychowardThe staff did not treat me fairly I haveDisabilities this should be reportedI have Adhd And a learning disabilityThey also mis gender a trasngenderWoman in there she was AffectedThey were treating me badI Pace back and forth they mistreatedMe for it I cant help it I was so sadFor being in there the staff laugh atMe when I was 😢crying on the phoneTrying too talk too my family and getOut my family has worked in the hospitalsBefore this is unprofdid not let me shower with disability and and they theaten meWhen I came home I felt so broken insideI went in to my room and was sad my family was worried about me this place Is no good.
I went into labor really fast and couldn’t make it to the hospital I planned to deliver at so I ended up here. I didn’t know anything about the hospital, and I was completely freaking out but my experience was great. Every single nurse and doctor I interacted with was amazing, great patient care and bedside manner. The delivery room and maternity room were both clean and spacious and really nice.
Emergency room visit w/ boyfriend. He was in a lot of pain and throwing up so we went to the nearest hospital even though we were dreading going there. Over 4 hours b4 a doctor even begrudgingly came to check him. Then they finally took blood and urine and we’re into our 6th hour now and still no results. Oh and we’ve been told that if blood and urine are clean that’s it. No x-ray or nothing. We get sent home and can follow up at the clinic tomorrow. As if we’d ever come to the clinic here. After all this time we’re going to stick it out and wait for the results. Horrible experience. Only good thing was our nurse Marc. I have to give it up to Marc. He was the only attentive person in the whole ER and treated us well
Our 1 month old son was admitted via the Pediatric emergency room. First, the positives - the doctors and staff did a lot to reassure us and make us feel comfortable. Now the bad, the ER is cramped, dirty and disorganized. Not the best impression when you have your babys life in your hands. Once our baby was stabilized we went upstairs to the Pediatric ICU - what a difference! We were pleasantly surprised. Yes, not as clean as wed like and not as modern but these doctors and staff were even nicer - they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and they were extremely attentive. Big shout out to Dr. Casey, Dr. Rodriguez and Nurse Rosa. We think with some additional funding and some time this hospital could be a winner. Right now its not easy to shake their reputation BUT the people make the place. We had a terrific experience.
If the ambulance driver gives you another choice, take it. Don’t do what I did and come here. These jokers ignored an obvious concussion (because I guessed the day of the week correctly, *on my second try*…SMH) and misquoted me in their notes, complicating my insurance coverage and a lawsuit. They also caused an infection in an abrasion by putting on a bandage that fused with my skin on contact. I’ve got scars and permanent brain and vision damage now. JFC.
This place is the worst when trying to speak with someone for contact the ER Department. I called because our daughter was in their ER Department. The first, time was crazy because they put me on hold before knowing what I wanted. Second, time I called they put me through to the ER Department once again they put me on hold without letting me ask them if my daughter was there. To top it off I was calling from Maryland and thought of our daughter being in this Place made me SICK! If they didnt have respect for me on the other end of the phone how could I even consider that they would give my daughter the Best CARE Needed! I am so disgusted with this place because I have been on hold for almost 30 mins. (speaker) and know one has come back to the phone so that I could check up on my loved one so far away. Maryland Hospitals, Medical Center, Urgent Care Centers, never treat Customers call their ER Department like this! YOU GUYS ARE TERRIBLE!
I will caveat this by saying I know how strained the medical system is during COVID. However, I waited over 3 hours to get my vaccine. The staff were also clearly all irritated and that made the experience way worse. I asked what # my place was in line and a member of the staff very rudely responded they can’t check everyone’s status even though 30 people went ahead of me who had later numbers. The nurses who actually administered the vaccine were SO nice and professional. I think if there was better signage and systems, this would take 1 hour instead of 3.5.
If you intend to be cared for, please reconsider going to this hospital. Wait time can exceed 5 hours for the most minor needs. No one provides an update they only insist you continue waiting. The staff is very unprofessional. During my visit, I witness an argument that almost became physical, between staff and client. Constant swearing and look of anguish/annoyance plaster their face.By far, this is the worst place of business and servicing that I’ve witness, stay clear of this hospital for the benefit of your self and family.
Their system is very flawed. It is very frustrating being the middle man when one staff member says one thing and another staff member says something different, especially when they do it in a condescending tone and look at you like youre stupid as if you are the one that works there. This was especially my experience with the white doctors/nurses, but not the clerks. They get an extra star because the black gentleman checking the temperature is always nice and welcoming.
I’ve had different experiences at this hospital. What i don’t like is if you go to the emergency room expect to be there for majority of the day. Appointments don’t ever follow through with their designated times. I had to talk to the Urologist at 1pm and left at 4pm for a few minute talk about my test results.
My daughter was having anxiety and panic attacks and she was taken to this hospital. She had the most traumatizing experience .They took all her belongings and locked them up. She was not seeing or checked by a doctor for about 8 hrs, and they medicated her with antipsychotic medication (without being checked by a doctor)2 times and told her it was for her anxiety, which was a lie, and ended up having more panic attacks, due to the administration of the wrong medication. Then they said she needed to stay overnight for observation, she called me crying that she was very scared. My daughter is traumatized for life now. Do not go this hospital ! They should be shut down immediately!
If you are looking for a good and fast place to get a COVID test this is it!!! I came on a Friday afternoon, and was basically the last one there (weekdays they are only open til 3:30 and start turning people away around 3:20). The waiting room was completely full when I arrived but my information was taken promptly and in under an hour I had gotten both the covid and antibody tests. And by the end of the next day, Saturday night, I had access to my results using their online portal. When I went to an urgent care for the same test, it took them over two weeks to get it back to me!! I plan on going back to this hospital and getting tested regularly and would recommend anyone in the area to get theirs done here too!EDIT 11/18/20: I’ve continued to go here for my COVID test and always get next day results but the last time I went I came at 8:30 am right when they open and there were already 30 people waiting in line! I ended up waiting over 2 and half hours for a test, so just keep this in mind with the uptick in cases and holiday seasons there seems to be more demand you may be waiting two hours or more.
My 11 month old son had a fever. He also had trouble breathing. They diagnosed him with broncholitis and sent him home. Nyu swab my son for everything and gave him fluid and a treatment. Ipad with cartoon while we waited. Diagnosed him with rhino and covid. Woodhull you have to do better!
Worst hospital I’ve ever been too, I was there for 4 hours with massive abdominal pain. No nurse no one came by to see if I was okay. In the end I got up and spoke to one of the doctors there and she had absolute no sympathy for the patients there including myself. I’m on my way to another hospital now, if I would’ve stayed there longer they would’ve left me to die. Either they shut down or get a better system and better staff. PLEASE no one waste your time by going there.
I dont get the hate. I went for my first Covid shot and everyone there was not only helpful but friendly. The nurse that gave me the shot did it flawlessly, I wish I remembered her name so I could recommend her. Overall a easy and seamless experience, and Im a person that fears hospitals. Great staff, clean facilty, good care.
DO NOT HAVE YOUR BABY HERE, I repeat DO NOT. MY sister was DENIED an epidural when it came time to push for NO REASON and was put through the WORST experience. Even though she had gotten the epidural, they would not administer another dose as they said it was “better to feel pain when pushing.” This is absolutely preposterous as there is no such evidence to prove such a baseless claim. They took what should’ve been an amazing experience and made it a traumatizing one for a first time mom, all these bad reviews are accurate. Stay away from this lace or make sure you will fight hard for what you want. It’s sad but we should be able to trust our healthcare providers but unfortunately at this hospital you can’t.
Came in a while ago with a friend of mine that had a kidney stone. They did absolutely nothing to help him, he was under so much pain and did not receive any meds for the first five hours. Today I came in because Im PREGNANT and I have been having terrible cramps, I have been at the ER for almost three hours and nobody has even bothered to come check me...at all. I had to urinate and I had to hold it for a while because they never provided the testing containers. I had to go ask for one myself!!!!! Someone should definitely do something about thisssss!!!!
I came in for chest pain, no previous heart condition, but it wasnt great. Took them a while till they took an EKG, then I waited for many hours in the hallway crying out to every staff member passing by that I feel like Im losing my consciousness and need help. They just walked past me like I wasnt there. I was extremely dehydrated and the entire time I was there they didnt bother to give me any fluids. So basically I was there for many hours and they did absolutely zero! Didnt give me fluids or anything to bring down my heart rate. After I had a friend bring in food and water I was feeling better and requested to leave against medical advice. Something I legally have the right to do. They didnt care! The doctor straight up told me that if I ask to leave AMA (against medical advice) hes going to lock me up in psych unit, not because of my health and safety, but so he cant be sued later. Thats after I was willing to sign the legal document taking full responsibility. He said you legally have the right to leave, but I have the right to lock you up in psych unit. They violated my HIPPA rights by releasing medical information at the desk to someone who pretended to be a friend of mine. This may sound unbelievable for a hospital, but all you have to do is walk into their emergency room and youll see the full picture right away.Update: still getting bills for the nothing they did. Long list of things tough to understand, but Im pretty sure I didnt receive those treatments since they did nothing except an EKG.
The worst! Inconsiderate no emotions what’s so ever for your loves ones! My Brother passed away there! They never called me to tell me he was not doing well! I was at the hospital the night he passed away! 2 hours after I left! I received a call he passed at 9:45 mind you they called me at 11:29 with the sad news! Horrible staff! The worse Chief of medical! Never found out what really happened because they never called me! Shut this place down!!!!!!!
Never go to this horrible place!!!! No help at all. Staff is laughing while you suffering from the pain. Do not deliver baby here, you will get no or poor help. I had to wait sitting on a chair for a bed to be checked at least 2 hours!!!! Nobody cared about my pain or a baby, they had a good time while I was suffering. Then another 20 hours of pain with only 4 hours of epidural. When I finished my whole dosage of epidural I could not get more and was forced to deliver without it!!!! Its like a slaughter house. Never ever again!!
HORRIBLE!!OSHA needs to be there, sanitation, blood borne pathogens. Why are you ignoring adhearing to policies.1-Receive considerate and respectful care in a clean and safe environment free of unnecessary restraints. There is pee all over, rats and cleanliness does not exist.2- In addition, NYC Health + Hospitals is committed to provide information about treatment. Receive all the information you need to give informed consent for an order not to resuscitate. You also have the right to designate an individual to give this consent for you if you are too ill to do so. If you would like additional information, please ask for a copy of the pamphlet “Deciding About Health Care — A Guide for Patients and Families. Why am I not being given that opportunity??? Why is it taking the Chairman to return my calls?? Why are you keeping my family member there and not treating him? I need a release. Why are you not allowing “Participate in all decisions about your treatment and discharge from the hospital. The hospital must provide you with a written discharge plan and written description of how you can appeal your discharge”ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT RETURN ANY CALLS
The emergency room had the same problems that are found at any emergency room of a public hospital. But that doctors, nurses and staff at a regular floor and room were very good. They provide the attention that a sick person needs, not only from the medics point of view, but as a human been.
Worst hospital in the world, third world countries treat patients better in their hospitals. Staff rude and just dont care. My mother was admitted at Woodhull and just to speak to her was a project, they transfer me several times without informing me and then I finally got to the right person they sounded like you bothering them rushing off the call and they even hung up on me while I was still talking. Needless to say my mother sign herself out. Like a prior reviewer stated if you want to die just go to this hospital.
Failed to properly manage my emergency, lack of privacy to the point where I experienced humiliation in front of strangers, misdiagnosed my panic attack with “alcohol intoxication” since I had drank the night before. Tell me why I felt unsafe, uncomfortable and disrespected at the ONE space where anyone shouldn’t fell any of the above. My nurse was sweet but my doctor and the remaining staff I dealt with were horribly patronizing- I’ve been an “adult” for four months now, it was my first experience w any sort of hospitalization, yet I had NO IDEA what was happening. Don’t expect any sense of professionalism or empathy here. I wish I could say that this lack of care is due to lack of resources or being understaffed, but nope there were plenty of staff socializing and sitting down. I’m an understanding person, even in my time of crisis, i could’ve beared all of this if someone had just EXPLAINED to me why I was treated the way I was.
Waiting more than 1 hour arriving through emergency. Doctors and nurses seem competent, but they are SO slow. It seems as they purposefully make patients wait, as there is nothing stopping them from seeing them - they are available, talk amongst themselves, etc. Yet, patients must wait long times for apparently no reason. Ambulance triage process is relatively slow as well.
I live 5 minutes away from this disrespectful hospital. I had an attack of something i never experienced in my life and walked over dizzy and made it inside the ER. The first responsible doc took my vitals and i was put into a cot because they looked abnormally higher. After that it was 3 hours that anyone even acknowledged that I was there. It was not that crowded. I finally got enough strength to get up from not being dizzy and was woken up from again these punching pain on my right arm. I asked the nurse and she answers I am next that equaled another hour to be then told that they were waiting for the new shift to come on. All these co workers and docs did was just then go on there computer and converse with there friends on what they did in there lives. I walked out after almost 5 hrs with NO ONE even acknowledged I was gone. Awfully they should be so ashamed of themselves. I went to another hospital and was taken care of.
The kind of place i would stay away from even in an emergency situation. With all due respect to the heros that risk theyre lives working here but its absolutely a bottom of the barrel hospital in the middle of this epidemic. I hope who ever reads this takes heed. just walk into the waiting room after 8 p.m. on any given night and see for yourself.
Would give zero stars if I could. This place is dangerous! Even an EMT we met said he would never come here for medical needs and told us we were crazy for doing so. An friends dad who is a NY cop said once said, if I am shot on the steps of Woodhul drive me to another hospital. But my friend was hurt and light-headed and it was closest public hospital (she has no insurance)...its worth the drive elsewere if you can manage it.-ER is unclean (the doc assistant when exiting our exam room, grabbed a bunch of dirty rags and sheets off corner of floor and yelled ugh, what are these doing there.-Security is very lax (cop protecting us at entrance all had the longest hot pink fake nails, dunno what protecting she plans to do with those).-Nurses and docs are disorganized, continually entering room thinking my friend was someone else.-Nurses were rude. My friend was very dehydrated and when I asked hospital employee for water, she rudely said I dont really work here. And left without a word. My friend drank from the water bottle I brought along.-Almost gave my friend penicillin after she said multiple times she was allergic.-Didnt notice glass in her skin from accident, despite her getting x-rays.-Didnt ask if her wrist injury was due to attempted suicide (it wasnt but it sure could have been by how it looked)-Didnt ask her why she was seriously limping (she had twisted her ankle day before)-Didnt ask her if she had head injury despite saying she fell and passed out (probably as result of her bad ankle)-IN FACT, asked zero follow-up assessment questions about the accident.-Doc assistant refused to believe my female friends assessment of her own pain, talked down to her, improperly administered lidocaine (according to follow-up doc), started stitches before she was numb and made fun of her when she yelled in pain, improperly bandaged/supported her injury, poorly executed stitches (again according to follow-up at Bellevue who redid them).-Both doc and doc assistants assessment that my friend needed expensive hand surgery were dismissed by the hand surgeon at Bellevue who said her hand just needed stitches, to be protected, and to heal.(When I went here years ago with an incredibly painful ear infection...-I waited 4 hrs to be seen despite being second in line at clinic.-The doctor shoved the otoscope into my ear without warning and almost made me pass out in pain and cry.-Doc gave me wrong type of medicine so my situation got worse as I kept taking meds hoping for improvement that was never gonna come.-Went to another doc delirious with pain at this point and was told everything done to me was wrong and that their error could have lost me my hearing if I had waited a few more days for a second opinion.)So nothing has changed, this place is hell and I feel horrible for all the low-income, poor, uninsured, undocumented people (many of whom were POC) who have no choice, but to turn to this dangerous, uncaring place for medical care. Its not right!
This is probably the worst hospital in all of America. My sister came to the emergency room at 9am, didnt get admitted until 9pm that day (12 hours later) and didnt see the doctor till the next morning. If you want to die- go to this hospital. The nurses speak about the patient in a different language right in front of you- IF thats not UNPROFESSIONAL I dont know what is. If you ask a question- the nurses can look at you and just keep walking. The employees of this hospital do their best to walk as SLOW as possible- its like theyre doing it on purpose to do as less work as possible. HORRIBLE- would never recommend even if its an emergency!!! Just go a little further to a different hospital! Its no wonder Ive never heard of this hospital until my sister went there.
Hearable hospital I was there for 3 and a 1/2 hours With real bad kidney pains not even a nurse or doctor came to see me. No iv nothing all they was doing was joking around with each other and on their personal phones. They kept telling to wait for a dr to see me but im in alot of pain and still nothing so i left to go to another hospital.
Worst hospital ever just got out of there with my husband since 230 this afternoon not one dr saw him and the 2 head nurses on both shifts are animals one had an argument with a patient in front of me he tells her can I please see a dr I need to get to work by 10 pm mind u he said he had been there since 11 am she screamed at him go to your bed u shouldnt have a job with that face and walked away, like really wat kind of people do they have working there !?! I will never go in there again!!
So rude and inconsiderate, LITERALLY hung up on me while asking about the welfare of a friend admitted. phone op was upset that I called more than once, despite the circumstances of just wanting to provide friend admitted with some information they may need as i knew their phone had died during intake.I am beyond upset, disheartened, and scared at present moment. I understand the telephone operators are busy, and i never intended to take their time away from their duties, but they hung up on me without responding to my honest questions and concerns regarding the patient in question. I would give less than one star if i could.
Was in the ER for several hours. It did not look or feel clean. The people working there all seemed busy behind their computers and only a few were attending to so many people laying around in beds in open cubicles or in the hall. An overabundance of police hanging around/surrounding some of the patients. If you have to go to this ER, go with an advocate or better yet, go to another ER.
AN ACTUAL LAIR OF SUPER VILLAINS. Do not go here. You will die or at least be left with significant physical/emotional scars. Not joking. Had to go to the ER and was stunned by the tons of medical mistakes, NO urgency, and anger/disrespect of ALL the staff. Never again. Take a cab/Uber/crawl to a different place, don’t stop here. Your life depends on it.
Wost ER Ive ever been to. Brought 2 people 2 separate times for foot injuries. No wheelchairs or crutches available. Staff is rude and unhelpful. Security staff are the rudest. NO CHAIR TO SIT ON IN TRIAGE ROOM. What the hell. Make people stand who are injuried. Shows you right off the bat how they treat there patients.
This hospital seriously needs to be investigated for its procedures. I arrived by ambulance at 2:00am with a large laceration on my leg, a cut artery and was bleeding profusely. I was put on a bed and left in a waiting area for 9 hours. No one had a clue what was happening with my care, and NO ONE cares about patients here. Once I finally was attended to, a nurse came over covered in another patients blood and reached for my open wound with bloody gloves. I screamed out what are you doing?! before she realized she was covered in blood, and took off her other scrubs and apologized. I cannot believe this is considered a hospital anywhere in America, the fact that a place is allowed to treat patients under such conditions is scary. My wound was caused by a rusted screw sticking out of an electric pool and was not cleaned up by the staff for 9 HOURS. Someone, anyone, please, look into the standards here, this is not right.
This is the worst rated Hospital in New York CityMy mother-in-law broke her shoulder and arm And after six hours of surgery they told her she was going home the next day. Her discharge was a disaster. The social worker never printed out the discharge papers and When the ambulate arrived to transfer her they left because no paper work was available. Anyone reading this should never consider going to this hospital.
Read all the comments,oh well, as part of the community this hospital is part of its the best it can be. The area is a low income area, its expected that homelessness, drugs and people of way different circumstances will be here. My father has been treated here at least 4 times. Yes the emergency room has its share of people that some might not be used to,but it is what it is. If you have to be hospitalized you'll be ok .
Not just bad; actually maniaclly evil in some instances. I had three good doctors there, and bless them. But otherwise, I was lied to, spoken about like a joke, had my phone taken away and lost, left half naked in a hallway, responded to less because I was calling out their trashy excuse for how I was being treated, etc. 90% of the facilitators I dealt with should not just be fired but possibly even in prison. Theyll be hearing from me legally
As last night I took my Grandmother to ER after speaking with a RN in the phone I was advised to bring her in ASAP, I met James RN who is a nice and professional person, later on my Grandma was taken to a different room with a bunch a PCS (patient care Service), I wonder who hires all this unprofessional people they all hanging out chewing gum with NO FACIAL MASK ON, AND A NASTY ATTITUDE all Females the way the address me I can tell she has no manners, she does not know how to be professional My Granma insisted to go here because is near by but i will stay away form this Jungle and nasty people they think they better than everybody else....
I had an allergic reaction and went to the ER with my boyfriend. As soon as we stepped through the door, the “nurses” seemed so uninterested in helping me. They were more distracted by their computers than the actual patient. When I went into the waiting room, there were empty food wrappers on the chairs. The nurse who sat me down hooked me up to an iv and some benedryl, and left me there to sit and wait for about two hours then told me to go pee in a cup and left me and my boyfriend to sit for 2 more hours. When my bf asked another nurse (since our original one had apparently went to lunch, leaving me with a needle in my arm) why I was being kept any longer, he acted like he didn’t understand what he was being asked. The nurses kept telling patients to wait for the doctor and when the doctor (dr. Miranda was her name) finally came back from lunch, the only thing she seemed to be doing was bossing the other nurses around; zero interaction with any of the patients. The most ghetto hospital I’ve ever stepped foot in.
The worst ever! PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE! In any emergency or in any case they will ignore you and they will take their time. My husband and I left because we waited 3 hours and not a signal nurse had come to see him. The place is dirty and unsanitary. The staff is a joke and the time management is horrifying.
Came to the medical center after my ER visit to have my fractured nose fixed. They told me that as long as I had the procedure done within 2 weeks of the incident everything would be fine and they’d quickly knock me out and snap my nose back in place. Today I come to my appointment only for them to tell me my nose already started healing and they had to break it again to put it back into place even though they told me it would be an easy fix. Told me it would be one simple pop back into place, yeah right. If you want to be treated with respect and feel like you’re safe in the hands of the staff, go elsewhere. Don’t know how this place is even allowed to operate.
I was nervous to get my surgery done here (because of the most recent reviews) but my Doctor(Tummings) happens to be affiliated with the hospital. So fast forward to after the surgery. The nurses were pleasant especially Ms Campbell she is an angel. Dawn was an awesome house keeper keeping my room free of any germs and bacteria always had fresh socks for me. New warm wash wipes. omg I felt secure. Also nurse Wala she is the head nurse she is very pleasant. and nurse warmington. Thanks guys for a pleasant 4 day stay. you all looked out for me and made sure I was well comfortable
I grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant and know the bad reputation Woodhull had when I was growing up. Was not considered a hospital you wanted to be sick in. But just had a great experience with a relative who went there for an emergency and was shocked at what good care they received! From the doctors to the nurses, they were incredibly professional and caring. They explained the medical terms and left us confident that our family was in great hands!
This is the WORST hospital I have ever been to in my life. There is NO management. The doctors IGNORE bleeding and suffering patients. One man was HUNGRY, BEGGING for food for 5 hours. Doctors and nurses ignored him as they walked past him SO many times, and they weren’t even busy! When he tried to LEAVE TO GO HOME AND EAT SOME FOOD, They called the POLICE on him. The police then tied him up as the nurses gave him medication. There were people (like myself) in SEVERE, I mean EXTREME pain, but the nurses paid no mind. I had my blood pressure checked 5 times by 5 different nurses that NEVER got back to me. I was in there from 1 pm to 4 AM, and not a SINGLE thing was given for my pain until I was FINALLY seen by a doctor. The hospital bed I was in the whole time was a DIRTY, USED hospital bed, with blood and poop stains on it. This is disgusting. PLEASE, if YOU or your FAMILY MEMBER is in critical condition, Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT GO HERE. THERE IS A 99% CHANCE THAT THEY WILL EITHER DIE OR NOT BE TAKEN CARE OF AFTER A VERY LONG WAIT. THESE ARE THE FACTS. I’ve been here for more than a decade, and NO changes.
While waiting for over an hour for them to give me an EKG I saw and heard the staff regard an intoxicated patient with some of the most disrespectful treatment I had ever witnessed. The man could not sit upright in bed and would topple over, at one point falling down upon the floor, sprawled out, no more than 3 feet from the desk of the people working in that room- there were at least 5 staff members. Did they gt up to help the man? No. Further more they argued playfully amongst each other about who should have to do it, for at least 10 mins. During this time other Drs and hospital staff came in and out of the room, stepping over the body or rolling around him - few asking why he was on the floor. Eventually one of the staff in the room decided it was time to move this passed out patient from the floor and walked over to his body- did he pick up the man? No, he wedged his foot underneath the mans head and nudged it like a bag of laundry while loudly saying Get UP! GET UP! - eventually other staff came in and assisted the man up. I took pictures of the passed out man for proof when I reported this but hospital staff got on my case when I asked why he was treated like this and said what * I * was doing was illegal.tl;dr inhumane treatment, disrespectful, would avoid if I were you
Really talented doctor, awful staff!Needed 12 stitches, didnt wait long, a doctor there did a fantastic job sewing me up. The scar will be minimal, especially considering the wound. Very satisfied with his treatment, but the rest of the staff was very unprofessional at best, neglectful at worst. For starters, a receptionist barged in while he was stitching me up to try to flirt and chat the doctor up casually, was asked the same questions by 3 or 4 different people, my paperwork was never taken, woman who spoke next to no English tried to take my blood pressure when it had already been done, nurse made a few mistakes (which, fortunately, the docor called her on), etc.I planned on writing a review defending this place once I saw it had just 2.6 stars, but once I actually got to thinking about it and read the other reviews, I thought about what a poor job the staff here did, other than the one doctor who stitched me up.Still, his competence in the face of adversity and ability to work well with such a lax staff is definitely worth mentioning. If the doctors here are all this competent, its worth the rest of the staff!
This is the worst healthcare experience possible. Expect to wait 3+ hours with an appointment to see a doctor. I waited an hour for a doctor to be able to print out a prescription for me. The administrative policies are antiquated and inefficient. I feel less in control of my reproductive health since the doctors removed my IUD but then were unable to provide me with birth control. ..the list of horrors goes on and on at this hospital.
Literally most disorganized hospital I have ever been in. Waited 4 hours to see a doc about head trauma during a car accident. I had to ask multiple times over the course of those 4 hours as my friends symptoms got progressively worse. Once we saw a doc the extent of the exam was “did you lose consciousness?” Then has to wait an hour and a half to get doscharge papers. This place is a victim of underfunding and understaffing and unfortunately it’s the patients who suffer
This Is The WORST Hospital ever! Dont Go Here Unless You Want To Waste Your Time And NOT Get Seen Be Anyone. The Staff Are Very Rude And Nasty Towards their Patients. I Arrived at Woodhull at 4:30 a.m and Was Not Seen By Any Doctors. I Waited 6 1/2 Hours and ended up leaving. The Emergency Room Was Not Full At all. The Workers simply didnt want to work🙄 #WoodhullGottaDoBetter #NeverAgain
The worst hospital you could go to... My grandma who is 90 years of age was admitted on Saturday for bleeding in the rectum the doctor recommended a colonoscopy shes been waiting for 4 days now and still hasnt eaten and still waiting on them to do the colonoscopy according to them there isnt an anesthesiologist available such a big hospital and you only have one anesthesiologist. They care for no one they have no patience at all for the sick people
Grew up in Brooklyn, all my life Ive been told never to go to Woodhull. Then my GYN, who is the best ever, Dr. Suzy Kim, transferred here to serve the low-income, uninsured population (I followed her from LICH over 10 years ago). To my surprise, the OB/GYN department, is one of the cleanest and well run and the staff there is accommodating. Ive also had a successful and well informed out-patient procedure done there with no complaints. I cannot speak, from experience, on the rest of the hospital but I hear the dental facility is also excellent. Unfortunately, I must agree with the other reviewers re: the emergency room...it looks/smells of death and disease and is in need of long overdue renovation AFTER the CDC comes through and burns the place down.
This place should be burned to the ground and the entire staff should be revoked of whatever qualifications they may have barely graduated with. Same level of care as a 3rd world country and god forbid you try to advocate for whichever loved one you have in this dump. I was literally asked “but why are you concerned, your being bothersome now”. So many other atrocities. NYC do something about this monstrosity that’s masquerading as a heath care facility.
. Honestly, if you need a loved one to be evaluated and they aren’t mentally well, DO NOT bring them to woodhull. I went to urgent care before I was transferred to woodhull, and the doctor at the urgent care I had went to looked upset they were sending me there. He also apologized to my family member that I would have to be sent there. Horrible hospital!!!
One of the very worst hospital ever seen in my life.. They don’t deserve even for 1 star.. Unprofessional staffs unprofessional management, Rude on telephone, I don’t know why Government of New York don’t take any legal action for such hospital.. I can’t believe how they exist in Brooklyn, New York. Must be take action asap...
This had to be the worst experience I have ever had at a hospital. I had to go to the E.R in the middle of the night, past 1 Am, and I didnt get to leave until 8 Am. The staff ignored me until I got up and wandered around looking for a restroom. I ended up coming across what looked like the scene of a murder in one of the bathrooms, and by this I mean there was someones blood all over everything. It was like a scene from a horror movie. If that alone wasnt enough to scare me the other patients there sure did the trick. I would suggest you find a different hospital to go to, because Woodhull is not the place you want to be. Even the building itself from the outside looks like a mental institution, with what appears to be bars on the windows from the view on the Flushing Avenue subway platform.
One of the worse experiences isto have your family member at the emergency room and this hospital make it so difficult to see your relatives. They have everyone forming one line for registration and to get a pass in order for you to get access. On top of that they only allow one family member at a time. They need to improve their Emergency Service
My fiancé has abdominal pain and has been in the hospital waiting for someone to help him since 7:15 pm. It is now 12:03 and we are still waiting. There are a few patients other than my fiancé that have not been seen. There is a pregnant woman in labor still waiting for someone to help her, a woman who, from a conversation with her, has been here since 12:00 pm, someone who had a seizure TWICE, and man who dedicated himself in here. The only thing theyve done was give a woman insulin with abdominal pain. I called the hospital administrator and still nothing has been done.
Went in today for a fractured foot and the PA’s were horribly unprofessional they judged me since the beginning acting like two young kids talking about if it was even serious and how they gotta hear my sob story and who was gonna take care of me after 5 mins of laughing and making me feel uncomfortable the young woman finally saw me I’ll never forget how horrible I felt in the trauma unit woodhull hospital needs to do better when hiring PA students . I’m even sorry for giving this hospital a undeserving one star no one should feel the way I did in a place you go into for help.
Can’t believe this is an actual functioning hospital.. felt like I was in 3rd world country. Wasn’t seen by doctor, no one actually examined me. Took x rays of my clavicle and was told it was fine, went somewhere else and found out my clavicle was dislocated. Don’t waste your time or money here. Absolutely awful all the way around
If you value your life, DO NOT go here. The equipment does not or barley works, NO ONE is on IVs for fluids and NO ONE will give you water unless you get up an ask. I watched a nurse simply pull off a sheet and slap another one on a gurney - WIPED NOTHING DOWN - i mean like ZERO SANITATION. I spent all 4 hours in the emergency room trying to figure out what the hell the doctors and nurses where ACTUALLY doing because they seemed to have a lot of time to joke around between casually tending to patients. Apparently taking someones vitals (after you beg them to do so) means half-assedly and resentfully ONLY taking blood pressure, no respiratory rate, no pulse, no temperature. You will wait for hours until they try to squeeze money out of you by vaguely mentioning other tests -that if were needed - SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IMMEDIATELY. I honestly dont know how this place passes the standards of what it takes to be a hospital. We left against medical advice and probably extending our life spans for seeking medical advice elsewhere. Do not go here, please, just dont.
I really do not recommend coming here AT ALL! Ive lost several family members at this hospital due to the horrible treatment they give, the place is extremely disgusting, and it takes forever to be seen. This hospital is big for no reason and I feel it should be closed down or at least hire better people and clean it up.
My husband went to this hospital like 2 days ago and they told him he has no infection to take motrin meanwhike notrin and tylenol was not helping so he continues sweating and they also did a test whivh said negative but clearly something was still wrong and so i look in back of his throat and it all white smh this hospital is a joke wish i can give 0 stars and wait is tremendously long. Go to wycoff but dont come here.
If you have option to go somewhere else for the emergency, go somewhere else!! I had the worst experience ever with this hospital. I had a flu, but they diagnosed something completely different. They put me on IV and then made me take off my clothes for the x-ray with the IV in my hand. As a result, something happened there and the liquid started to go off my vein right to my hand and my elbow area got swallowed from the IV liquid twice the size by the time I noticed it. It was a terrible experience, avoid their emergency room.
My 12 years old Boy enter to Woodhull Hospital by the ambulances the Triage nurse Ms. Martin kicked us out of the Triage Room and told us to wait for the next nurse, just beacause my phone rang you dont saw the sign no cell phone. What kind of nurse is that? She was rude and nasty to be working in the medical field, because of this nurse behavior Ill no longer go to Woodhull Hospital and I wouldnt recommend anybody to that Hospital my son said mom I dont want to go there never again.
I cant say its a really bad hospital compared to others in brooklyn its not as bad. There are Certain people that work in other areas of the hospital that need some more schooling. Some are very disrespectful and let their position get to their head. Learn how to speak to people, theres going to come a day where these worker are going to run into someone crazy that doesnt care and then what are you going to do. Youre going to be probably hurt, end up in the hospital ya selfs. Watch how ya speak to people. Thats all i say!!!
I have been in Woodhull Hospital for the last three weeks. For the most part, my experience has been positive. I have received great service from all of the medical professionals. The environment is clean and the room is comfortable.I have, however, two concerns. Firstly, I am in an isolation unit. My television went black on Saturday afternoon and today is Wednesday - it still has not been replaced. Ive tried to address the matter via the already established means with no avail. No one would actually get back to me. This is very unprofessional. In addition, the meals lack creativity and are not fully followed on the weekend. These things aside, my care here was good.
THE REGISTRATION CLERK WAS ASLEEP WITH A BLANKET WRAPPED AROUND HER I HAD TO WAIT FOR 30 MINS TO REGISTER MY SON BECAUSE SHE SAID HER COMPUTER SCREEN WAS FROZEN. THE TRIAGE NURSE WAS ASLEEP AS WELL I WOKE HER UP TO TAKE MY SONS VITALS & COMPLAINT SHE DIRECTED ME TO FAST TRACK I EXPLAINED HIS SITUATION WAS NOT A FAST TRACK ISSUE BUT A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, ANOTHER NURSE CAME & EXPLAINED TO THE TRIAGE NURSE SHE DIRECTED ME & MY SON TO THE WRONG TREATMENT AREA!!!
This REVIEW IS FOR THEIR VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENT. ALEXA JACK who apparently runs it isn’t doing her job ( she promises to get back to you and never does, she says she sent your forms in and never did, etc) and then there’s a man named Mr. Grey who sits in the volunteer office all day doing god know what because he can’t be bothered to follow through on anything (made me wait weeks to no avail, then I called him and he claimed again that he didn’t have forms on file, which I had sent him twice) Save your time....Volunteer at a hospital that employs competent people who aren’t lazy and unprofessional.
By far my worst experience in a hospital. The facility smelt horrendous ( and was visuably dirty), the staff were rude and not at all sympathetic to whatever was ailing patients, the doctors seems to be understaff which I am assuming is the reason it took them what seemed like an enterity to tell patients in the ER what was going on with them. Frankly this hospital needs to be closed down.
The most horrible hospital I’ve ever been to. Now I remember why I’ve never gone back after I was born. 5 hour wait for EZ care treatment. Honestly people got to organize and pressure this hospital to do better. They’re quick to charge you but take forever to help you.
Stay away from this place, it is a butcher shop not hospital. My father was in ER w/deep laceration on his head. When I asked trauma surgeon if he is going to numb the sight before sewing him up I was told you are interfering with my job. Was I? I simply asked one question. He was given pain meds 1 hr after I was told we giving him pain meds now. Then he was transferred to ED observation unit. In the 6 floor I requested to see his MD. When he showed up on every single question he responded I dont know. What do u know??!!! Apparently nothing. This place should be shot down.
NEGATIVE ZERO!!! RUN!!! Worst place and grossly neglectful of patient’s health. My brother was admitted to ER because he was having symptoms and wasn’t eating. We wanted to transfer him to Bellevue to the hospital unit, but against our better judgement we let him stayed with “equally professional staff present at Woodhull.” Before we knew it, he was released and still wasn’t stabilized because THATS THE WHOLE REASON why he was there to be stabilized. MAJOR DUH. But the inept stupid “professional” said he wasn’t in any immediate danger. So he has to be absolutely at his worst which he already was before he is even considered for treatments? Hello that’s why we brought him there so IT DOESNT GET WORSE. Major duh. If the professionals were refusing to take him in, then they should have sent him off to Bellevue. They were there for the money only so that they can charge off from him, their greedy assess instead of doing the right thing and transferring over to Bellevue they wanted him to stay so that they charge the Medicaid. I am considering serious legal action against this negligence! Run from this inept “hospital.”
This place is utterly disgusting. This place needs to be shut down!!!! Its evil and incompetent malpractise!!!My leg might be broken at the shaft so what did they do? they first examined my leg. My foot seemed fine, my knee didnt hurt but I told them I wasnt sure nothing was wrong, my hip was totally fine. Something is really wrong with the shaft, upper leg, what exactly can only be determined by an x-ray. I can bend my leg less than 45 degrees and not at all walking dragging my leg along. So this doctor? orders x-rays of my FOOT, KNEE and HIP!!! so they could dismiss me without treating me. Now I have to wait till the storm is over and then search where I can get proper x-rays done. In total I sat there waiting for 6 hours and first I was put somewhere in the hall just to be forgotten. The only one interested in me? Exactly to sign papers and get my info for payment. I wont let this slide off my back and neither should anyone here getting maltreatment!!!!!
Worst hospital Ive ever been to!!!!! The food is horrible wouldnt give it to my dog! Staff is not friendly or nice to patients while they are detoxing. Medication times constantly changes. They only care about the people who theyll give the poison of methadone to and thats so they can milk the system.
When I broke my arm the financial department really helped me handle the bills, and paperwork. I wish I could remember the womans name because I owe her one. The staff seems overworked, Im sure its a hard job. Start with a smile and try being nice. Have some empathy for their situation and they may just return the favor.
Went there with my 2 years old daughter with a laceration to her forehead and stupid nurse wanted us to fill out paper first. And after 4 long hours of me complaining the surgeon finally showed up.... My daughter needed 4 stitches and that was not a priority to them.
One of the worse hospitals I have ever been to. Not only did they not help me with my medical issue, they didnt bill my insurance company, even though they were given the information at the time of service. Instead they still sent me the bill and my insurance company said they never recieved a claim from the hospital. To make matters worse, nobody in the billing Department ever answers the phone, but are quick to send final notices without trying to rectify the issue.
I would give them -10. I was in so much pain and I got absolutely no help. I was literally dying and begging for help... Staff is extra rude unhelpful. Place is extra dirty. People wait longer than three hours at least. They don’t do anything!!! This place will be shut down soon if they don’t change their staff or train them properly
The best hospital to go, for an emergency if ur in Brooklyn, or w.e u at. I came here 3xs and everytime I came , they was always helpful. I got treated in noe time. I came twice for a (uti) I had an infection. Got treated felt good went home. Yesterday I came for my hip they said its a strain muscle explain everything to me, told me what I needed to do, after that I was omw home.
I recently had surgery a week ago i came in with emergency concerns of shortness of breath I’m also having pains in my legs .... this is an emergency concern ( blood clots ) but every single bed is filled with people not being attended to ... i sat here for an hour not being seen in my condition shortness of breath high heart rate pain in legs .... this is not an emergency room to go to when your having life threatening concerns !
A lady went 2 days without medication here. She was going to be a MOTHER!!! Now her kid will have to go their entire life not having a biological mother be by their side when they could’ve had one. Disgusting please do better. Also the reviews from last year and months ago aren’t the best so that says something about the quality.
Worst place, horrible stuff, no communication what so ever, they should close that place down. Thats definitely not a hospital! No one knows anything. I have already reported that hospital to specific authorities to look into their practices as they have no clue of what they doing. 8th floor 200 and 100 stuff rude as hell no help at all, shame on you that you call yourself professional.
Horrible place I broke my ankle they didnt even set it back in place. They knew I couldnt move my foot at all yet they asked me to move my feet so they could wrap it. How can they even think I can move it when I said and even showed them I couldnt. When I had an appointment to come back at 9 am Im there wait till 2:45 before I just left and went to mount Sinai where they saw me in last then 20mins and actually set my bone. I will never go back there ever!
I am still haunted by such an awful experience here two years ago. I arrived by ambulance to the emergency room in dire pain crying and was barely attended to. I was put on a waiting bed and not seen for hours. I ended up just leaving and walking out after hours. Ive never experienced such terrible lack of care, let alone facilities. It was like a nightmare. Im not one to write poor reviews usually but it was shocking. This is not how hospitals are meant to run.
Shame on all the ADMINISTRATORS of this hospital for allowing BY FAR THE POOREST PATIENT CARE SERVICE! ADMINISTRATORS PLEASE DO A SPY CHECK ON YOUR CALL CENTER UNPLEASANT NURSES NOT WILLING TO HELP THERE MAIN LINE IS JUST TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY DEPT, WHO IS THE THE INTEGRITY & COMPLIANCE OFFICER??AND THE ETHICS OFFICER??DO YOU EVEN WORK??OR JUST COLLECT A PAY CHECK??STAFF NEEDS TO BE RETRAINED ON WHAT IT MEANS TO HELP HELPLESS PEOPLE, EACH NURSE STAFF MEMBER AT THE CALL CENTER, LACK EMPATHY, INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, THEY HAVE NO SKILLS IN HANDLING EMERGENCY OR SENSITIVE SITUATIONS!!HORRIBLE NURSE BY THE NAME OF SOMETHING LIKE BENZINGER OR BIRMINGHAM AT THE CALL CENTER.. 5 STARS TO THE HOSPITAL OPERATOR BY THE NAME 31***** SHE WAS THE ONLY EMPLOYEE WHO TRIED HER BEST TO HELP!!!!!!
I went to the Emergency Service of Woodhull Hospital. They transferred me to EZ Care. A doctor didnt even take care of me. I left the hospital, and I went to a different hospital, then after one year, they sent me 900 dollars hospital bill. I will never go back to the hospital

2022-06-22Im not from NY and i was afraid to go here when i saw all the bad reviews but i decided to go have my own experience. The staff was very helpful and quick in putting me into the system. It was busy but they still saw me and were able to treat me. Im from CT where theres less people and i was very impress with the service here. I realized last minute that its also a mental hospital as some guy was being dragged away but other than that its a good place.

2022-07-10My review is mostly for the maternity/L&D ward.I gave birth to my first child here. I had a fantastic experience. I was using an OB at Woodhull, and she was fantastic. The wait time for my first two visits was way too long (over an hour for the first and two hours for the second), but after that the wait was mostly good. The actual doctor herself was fantastic. I never felt rushed. She was thorough and always gave me time to ask questions. She was gentle and had a good bedside manner. She was actually able to be there for my birth as well, which was nice.I had to be induced. My induction went smoothly. All of the nurses and midwives were fantastic. They were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and clean and all a good size. We had one room for triage, another room for labor and delivery, and another room for post partum recovery. Are the rooms super fancy? No. The furniture is a bit dated. But theyre clean and spacious. The bathrooms are clean and spacious too. My only complaint about the bathrooms is that the toilets are a little high, which is especially hard when youre pregnant or have just given birth.I felt like I was in good hands. Everyone was very calm, friendly, and helpful. I would definitely go back here again for future pregnancies.Ive also taken my baby to the pediatric unit here. So far, its okay. The wait can be a bit long, and the waiting room gets a bit crowded, which is not my favorite when Im trying to keep my baby away from germs. The doctors are pretty good. The most annoying part about here is scheduling appointments. They tend to schedule you with random doctors, and calling to reschedule an appointment is a pain because you have to call NYC Health and Hospital and get transferred a bunch of times. I would appreciate a way to schedule appointments online or at least a direct number to call. I would also prefer if they confirmed appointments with you before booking them. They book you with random doctors at random times without telling you. Other than that, Ive had a surprisingly good experience there.

2022-06-26Please dear God never send your love ones to this hospital. This hospital is a death trap. The nurses here are clueless and unprofessional. My father got admitted to this hospital and I tried to get in contact with the nurse/staff. But no one would pick up the phone. Three days later, the doctor finally called and told me he died. My heart broke into a million pieces. They left my father to die in this hospital and I will never forget it. I will never step foot near this hospital or advise anyone to come here.Go to NYU or somewhere else.Pay the extra money it will save your love one lives.

2022-04-18I would give this hospital zero stars if I could. Please take these negative reviews seriously, this hospital is dangerously incompetent. Ive had a family member die here after a routine appendix removal surgery. Do not let an ambulance take you to this hospital- call an uber or a cab or a friend and go somewhere else. My partner was taken here in an ambulance for alcohol poisoning and was left on a gurney in the hallway overnight with his own vomit. Seriously. No IV, no stomach pump, no hospital gown, literally nothing but a gurney in a dark hallway.

2022-04-03If I could give this hospital zero stars I would. The workers here are very rude and are very lacking in common sense and bedside manner. I went in to have some imaging done because I was having intense pelvic pain. The woman at the front desk was ok and registration went pretty quickly. I was then called to the back by a nurse who was very dry and unfriendly. She took my vitals and asked me a few questions before she sent me into another waiting room. I was then called by another receptionist who was having trouble logging my insurance and tried to tell me that it was inactive when this was in fact untrue. After waiting for her to fix it, I was then called into a room by a male doctor. He asked me what I was in for and I start to explain, and he keeps asking me these follow up questions. At first I thought it was because he was trying to get a clear understanding of my symptoms to better assist me. Then I realized it was because he didnt believe that I was having a problem. Instead of listening, he began to drill me and would also talk down to me as if he thought I couldnt comprehend what he was talking about. It was a nightmare. After 10 min of this he finally took me into an exam room and had brought in a female nurse to assist him. They had me undress my bottom half and sit on a table. Before he started, I asked him what exactly would he be doing. His response, had nothing to do with what I requested which was Imaging for my pelvis. When I asked why we werent doing that, he said well we dont have any GYNs on the weekend (which I find ridiculous for an ER). I was so frustrated I burst into tears. To be in pain and come to a hospital where the staff is so lacking in compassion was one of the most terrible situations to be in. I had to go through 3 people and tell them why I was there 1 after the other and no one thought to tell me that I couldnt even be helped? I came to that hospital in pain and left the same way and all I got from them was an oh well attitude. I saw so many unhappy patients cursing the staff out, I dont know why I didnt just pick up and go someplace else in that moment. This place is a disgrace.

2022-02-04How can I give 0? If you love yourself or your family, don’t come here. The level of absolute incompetence carries from reception to doctors. I unfortunately was subject to this place for way too long. They deserved medical malpractice suit for my mother alone, but I was too busy grieving. Please try NYU instead. Good luck all.

2022-02-19FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY, DO NOT GO HERE!! YOU WILL DIE HERE!! The level of incompetence of ALL staff--doctors, nurses, techs, etc.--is abhorrent. I dont know how most of these employees even have certifications. The pure indifference of the entire staff calls for a quite literally unhealthy environment. They openly laugh at and make fun of patients which is so, so sad. I was told by one of their staff that most of them are contracted workers, so they dont even put in effort into their jobs because their jobs arent guaranteed. While I understand that we all have to make money, this is a job in which someones paycheck SHOULD NOT effect the quality of work, as this is a LITERAL HOSPITAL. Most of the staff is gossiping with each other most of the time about other patients, others are falling asleep behind their desks at the start of their shifts, and overall they do not care for the needs of their patients. It takes them 5 hours after checking a patient in to even do a blood test. The doctors are no better.

2022-04-07If NYC Health and Hospital try’s to book your appointments here, DO NOT DO IT! Especially for the OBGYN. This is my first time, my appointment was at 2:20 pm for an annual check up. I was hoping I could make this my new Gynecologist but It’s now 4:40 pm and I still have not seen a doctor. Patients have come and gone, nurses are cackling and walking right past me not caring at all that I’m the last person in this waiting room. I had to get up and call out for help to get an update on what’s going on, they keep telling me I’m next and all I do is wait more time. If I didn’t pay my copay already I would have been left! After this appointment I’m definitely continuing my search for a OBGYN CAUSE THIS IS NOT IT! IF YOUR HAVING A BABY,I WOULDNT TRUST THE LACK OF CARE HERE. Over a 2 hour wait is ridiculous!Update: I finally got out of there at 5:30 pm. Once I finally saw the doctor though, I actually liked her. I would go back to HER. But I don’t want to return to that office.
