I took my clarinets to Michael (A, Bb, Eb, and Bass) to get some work done (maintenance, intonation touch ups, and an entire overhaul) and they came back feeling much better, which helps me feel great when performing!Michael also has a wide selection of clarinets, mouthpieces, and accessories to try and discuss with him.Would highly recommend!!see the below before and after picture of a tone hole he helped round out on an Eb clarinet:

2022-01-10My fiance traveled from San Francisco to New York specifically to get the best chance of finding the best A clarinet. We were greeted with a cute pup and friendly face and got started with seeing exactly what we asked for. After a lot of patience while we trialed we asked for other options. We finally made a decision with some very honest and expert help. Hope to do business again soon! Thank you!

2021-12-06I--a professional musician for 40-ish years--spent a glorious couple of hours yesterday in Michaels shop in Brooklyn, leading up to a purchase of a gorgeous new A clarinet (Buffet-Crampon Festival). It was such a pleasure to be in the presence of someone who knows his field so deeply and shares his expertise so generously. During my visit, I learned a lot of new information about mouthpieces, bores, reeds, technique, repertoire, and more.Michael advised me in depth when I requested it and left me alone to spend time with each instrument as I wished. I felt totally comfortable with my purchase, based on my own impressions and Michaels valuable professional opinions.Im also having my B-flat instrument overhauled and Michael is taking care of matching the workings of my 2 instruments so they will be a well-matched pair. I love this attention to detail and recommend the NY Clarinet Workshop to anyone else who lives to geek out over all things woodwind.And if you (like me) are also into dogs, Michaels Shar-Pei will charm your socks off.

2021-07-30Michael is probably the most knowledgable clarinet guru Ive met in New York. I stopped in looking for a new clarinet and he patiently listened to me try out every one in his shop for two hours, giving thoughtful and honest feedback to help guide me to the best decision (which turned out to be less beneficial to him financially). Couldnt be more pleased with my experience there!

2021-01-31Highly recommend the shop! As a professional clarinetist, I am very demanding with clarinet repair and I was extremely satisfied with Michael’s work. Due to the pandemic, I waited longer before bringing my clarinets for their usual yearly checkup, and so they needed extra work (including crack fixes) which Michael did perfectly, fast and at a very affordable price for NYC. Covid precautions are also taken seriously to keep everything safe.

2021-02-14I highly recommend bringing your clarinets to Michael, *even if they are new!* He will have them sounding and feeling better than you ever thought possible. When he handed my clarinets back to me, the action was fluid and quick, the ring and key heights were flawless, and the whole clarinet vibrated a big beautiful tone down to my pinkies! I also love the barrel he made. It has a beautiful ringing tone and allows the air to flow into the instrument.

2020-12-28I needed to get an overhaul done before my next audition, and Michael Norsworthy did a magnificent job! The process took about a week, and the price is very reasonable. He made sure that my clarinet was customized to my liking and fixed any issues that I was encountering. He made the entire process very pleasant, and I highly recommend going to him if you have any maintenance needs!

2021-01-11I recently bought a bass clarinet from NY Clarinet Workshop and have been very happy with both the instrument and the service I received. I clicked all of the above: good quality and good value in the instrument and very professional, helpful and responsive service. I wouldnt hesitate to do business with these folks again.

2021-01-19I had a phenomenal experience with the New York Clarinet Workshop!! Michael Norsworthy did a wonderful job communicating with me about the status of my instrument I was looking to purchase (Royal Global Firebird Bass Clarinet) and helped customize it to my style of playing. They were up-front about pricing and offered me many different avenues to purchase my instrument. They were easy to get in contact with and got back to me very quickly (always within 24 hours!) Looking forward to working with them again!!

2020-11-29The New York Clarinet Workshop has been AMAZING to work with. I just moved here from out of state, and my Bb and A clarinets immediately needed adjusting. Michael Norsworthy gave VIP treatment, making sure my horns were in tip top shape. Additionally, I was in the market for a bass clarinet, and he worked with me to find just the right one. A Royal Global Low C Polaris. I look forward to continuing to work with the New York Clarinet Workshop, and highly recommend them to anyone with clarinet needs.

2021-01-21I won a mouthpiece re-facing through an Instagram winter giveaway initiative and was blown away by NYCWs responsiveness and by Nikhil Bartolomeos craftsmanship. My MoBa L facing mouthpiece now plays like new, maybe better. Could not recommend NYCW more!
