My wife and I decided to purchase a couple more kayaks to round out our collection for different outings. There is no other place. That offers the selection, expertise, guidance, and the ability to try the boat out prior to purchasing. Not just a dry run on the floor, but in thier onsite water body. We have stopped at other places while on vacation. None compare to the Oak Orchard. Thank you
I was having difficulty finding a cockpit cover for my Eddyline Sitka LT Kayak and had searched for several months in person and online at different places. Covers for this particular model are scarce and what I was finding was of questionable quality. That was until I got lucky and happened upon the Oak Orchard Canoe and Kayak site. What a find! They had exactly what I needed. I made a call to them to get a question answered, got a real, live, knowledgeable and friendly associate and and they had the cover in my hands three days later. The fit and quality of the cover are excellent and it looks good on the kayak as well. I will be doing more business with Oak Orchard based on my current experience, especially now that I’ve seen what all else they carry. These are good folks!
Everything ordered arrived as described! I was told the cockpit cover would be received at their facility in a week, sure enough, product arrived to me on the 3rd day of that week! All items were of high quality & packaged well.VERY HAPPY WITH THE PRODUCTS!Thorough instructional information was sent with product, describing how to use!Definitely will be doing further business with Oak Orchard Canoe
Okay, lets start by saying of your in the market for a kayak or canoe and you dont go here you have made a mistake. The selection of quality kayaks is off the charts. You wont be able to find a better selection of high-end kayaks any place. They have everything from open plastic wands to super high-tech Kevlar racing 17-footers.Just take a look at the pictures. They have racks and racks of kayaks and canoes when most stores have no inventory. Because theyre such a big volume dealer they really do have a great selection. I previously shopped at the Rochester store which I thought was excellent. This one just leave you speechless due to the huge selection and tremendous knowledge of the sales people. They truly want you to purchase the right kayak for you.
I am a Canadian resident and have been hunting for an Orion cooler for a long time now. Unfortunately, Canada has next to no access to Orion coolers, and those shops that do carry a limited supply only restock every couple of years. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Oak Orchard while browsing online for coolers and quickly found that they still had stock for one that I wanted. The staff members I spoke to over the phone were knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions to assist me in getting the cooler I wanted. The staff members were quick to help me, even while navigating the current COVID rules as I could no cross the border to pick it up, and the item was too large to ship through customs. Staff members were willing and able to work with me to find alternative ways to obtain the cooler I wanted, and I am very grateful for that. I will certainly be making the trip to your store once the border restrictions ease up, and I look forward to any and all future experiences I have with this company.
Robert was so nice. He helped us get the kayak secured on what we now know is s very interesting roof rack. Made sure we were all good for our 4 hour journey back home. He even printed us info for a new roof rack! Also there was a sweet little dog who loved saying hi to people. Really nice folks. Thank you!!
Oak Orchard Canoe and Kayak is definitely my go to for kayaks and accessories. Not to mention rigging. Mark and the owners are very friendly. These guys are experts. Many brands and price ranges available. Worth the drive. Theyve got a large pond to test out your new or used kayak or canoe. Then theres all kinds of water nearby. These guys are also very knowledgeable about fishing. Plan on taking your time. This team will set you up. Literally 👍👍!
Despite the many good reviews this places’ customer service is one of the worst I’ve experienced. We had gone to inquire about kayaks. The man that we spoke with was very male chauvinist. We expected good customer service from a highly rated place, instead we got Harriet Oleson. I would’ve liked to take a paddle off the wall and hit the man with it. We may not have been experts on kayaks, but we were treated inferior with the man’s raging attitude. Don’t recommend doing business with them, we will be looking elsewhere. (Accidentally posted on the one in Monroe County)
I recently began using an Old Town Kayak I bought over 20 years ago. I hadnt used it in 10 years. when I took out the spray skirt it had holes in it. when I began searching for a new one I realized that the cockpit in my kayak was larger than the newer ones so it was difficult to find one. I contacted Oak Orchard who asked me questions about my boat and asked for pictures. They shipped me out a perfect fitting skirt at a great price! Great service! Thank you!
We ordered a cockpit cover for a kayak thats a 20-year-old model, so its rather hard to fit. This website guided us to which cover to buy, which was very helpful. We heard from the company almost immediately after placing our online order. They shipped right away and we received the cover very quickly.
I have had great experiences with Oak Orchard. Everyone seems to be very knowledgeable on all the product lines and are always helpful with a kayak solution. They have special rack solutions that no one else can provide.Had another great experience with Oak Orchard. They are the best when it comes to kayaks and racks!
I needed one component for my kayak rack. It was out of stock at almost every place I found. The couple places that had it in stock were charging as much as $15 for shipping. I kept googling and luckily found Oak Orchard. I called and they had my part in stock and said they would ship it right away with free shipping. 4 days later my part arrived. Great service! I will check them out first the next time I need a kayak accessory.
I called to verify the end caps I had in the online car for my Old Town Kennebec canoe were the correct ones before ordering. Im glad I did. The service I received was very helpful, explained why the caps I considered were incorrect and saved me the pain of having to set up a return authorization. Quick shipping and worth the phone call! Thanks Oak Orchard
My husband and I came here looking to buy a couple kayaks. We were helped by Todd and he immediately helped us find what we were both looking for! We explained to him what we were both looking for and he showed us multiple options with different price ranges. We also bought all of our accessories (life jackets, paddles, kayak roof rack, etc.) from them! They have affordable prices that are similar or cheaper than same accessories on amazon. Shortly after we bought our kayaks my husband realized his paddle was too short and wasn’t the right paddle for him. We went back, and they were more than happy to let us exchange the paddle for a taller one! Great experience the entire time. Thank you Oak Orchard Kayak Experts!
Wow! What a fantastic product! I purchased two cockpit drape X’s for our Fusion 124 kayaks and they are perfect! They arrived much earlier than promised and they were super easy to install. I highly recommend purchasing American made products from Oak Orchard Canoe Kayak Experts!
Great place to deal with !They took a lot of time with my wife and I when we came there to purchase new kayaks. They let us try several different models until we both found the ones we liked. Great selection and fair prices. Highly recommend Oak Orchard if you are looking for anything to do with water sports.
Best supply of kayaks, canoes, and accessories Ive seen. Bought my kayak years ago after several family members recommended oak orchard. Staff is more knowledgeable than anywhere. Ive since moved away from Rochester area and lost a piece of my roof rack recently and couldnt find it anywhere online or near me locally. Sure enough went to oak orchard site and found it, shipped quickly.
Oak orchard kayak expert was very helpful over the phone in identifying the bungee cord attachment clip I need to repair my old Town Loon 120. Saved me money by recommending the $4 part. He also gave good advice on how to drill out the old rivet and install the new part. Clip was mailed and I had it 5 days later. Excellent service!!
This Place is AWESOME!!! I called yesterday and spoke to Lou and he found me a SUP Pau Hana board from a different location, and had it brought over. I was able to pick it up that same day, amazing! Lou also took the time to help me install it on my car securely. This is probably the best experience I have ever had in my life buying anything period. Everyone that was there was just super cool and rad all the way around. Thanks Lou for the kind service and the professionalism! Oak Orchard Canoe is the best around. Look no further. 🤟🏼🤙🏼
The folks at Oak Orchard Canoe went out of their way to help me find and acquire the right parts for an older model canoe. Then, when paddles went on back order due to the pandemic, they kept in touch for over a year until the paddles became available again. I recommend them highly and without hesitation!
We cant say enough about our wonderful experience buying a kayak from Oak Orchard. Mark spent several hours helping us make the right choice. There was no pressure, only expert advisement every step of the way.The location is ideal, as you can try out as many kayaks as you need to on their pond. It is a fun place to visit. The surroundings are beautiful, and the selection of kayaks and canoes extensive. We highly recommend this business for anyone interested in purchasing a kayak or canoe. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming , and the customer service is outstanding.
My salesman was Mark, He was excellent. He answered all my questions. About canoes and kayaks the different models the good points and bad. And tried to help me to fit one of them to me. Course, it was pretty hard it being February and all. Since none of them are sleds we couldnt take a test run on any of them as their Pond was frozen solid. So I plan on going back in April. To take test rides on The Kayaks and canoes that Im interested in. They have a huge inventory. Of brand-name canoes and kayaks paddles and pfds
Ive been dealing with Oak Orchard Canoe & Kayak since I bought my kayak from them at least 8 years ago. They are knowledgeable and able to provide solutions for any & all issues Ive presented them with. Service is excellent. Although its a bit of a drive for me its worth it!
Over the phone experience; called there July 8, 2020 during the mad covid kayak buying rush, to find out if they had anything that met my criteria. We are new to recreational kayaking. We are from Central Pa and would have made the trip if they had what we wanted. As soon as I mentioned recreational kayak under 10, the guy states; we only sell expensive stuff. I guess he assumed I was looking for wal mart boats. Then he starts interrogating me; Did you look at what boats we sell on our website? Where are you from? How far away are you? Etc.? Then he offered me an 11.5 long boat. I cant haul that while Im pulling my camper. Then he tells me he has an Ocean Malibu 9.5....I had to ask him to repeat it so I could look at it online. Well that was obviously an imposition to him as well as me asking the color. Then he tells me its $649, so I told him that was in our price range. Then he says, well it will be sold in probably a half hour so dont bother coming. He was rude, short, condescending, and unhelpful. I wouldnt buy something that was free at this place! Tale your money elsewhere
Im a 1st time customer and I received amazing service. I was quickly contacted about a back ordered item and my options were clearly explained. Other items were shipped from NY to WI in about 2 days! WONDERFUL!!! I know who to contact about future purchases and Ill spread the word to friends. Very impressive selection! Mike
Cant say enough about my experience with Oak Orchard in Albion. Pulling into the parking lot, I was greeted by Mark who immediately took me under his wing. He showed me available used kayaks and then the new ones on the floor that would keep me under my target price and still be stable, well-tracking, and light-weight so that I could handle the loading and unloading by myself. I am 55 and 108 lbs, so he had a lot of parameters to meet. After paddling in their convenient pond, I settled on a great little Old Town Heron. Mark showed me how to install the carrier hardware, how to raise the kayak without help and safely tie it down for transport. I left with all I needed to paddle the lake and reservoir near my home which I did that very night! Love the kayak, love the service and congratulate the company for having such a fine staff and beautiful facility. I highly recommend the drive to Albion. The personal service assures me of a proper fit and positive experience with my new kayak.
I had a kayak picked out and wanted in a different color. I also had a several hundred dollars in gear picked out. The owner would not honor the bundle price for a different color kayak than the one they had in stock in Rochester. Such a shame. I walked away on principal. I would have purchased the new kayak, $500 in gear AND a used kayak. Lost my business for good . I know they wont care because everyones buying kayaks during covid. Such a shame. I would have been a great advertiser for them had it gone differently.
Saw the negative reviews and decided to put my paddle in. I purchased a kayak there last year. It was a very positive experience; the salesperson was very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. By special arrangement with the owner, I was permitted to store it there, and each time I went to use it, someone helped me get it to the water and launch it. Summer staff was generally kids and they were very polite and helpful. Whenever I visited the office, there was someone to help. Never a problem with availability or attitude. I sold my kayak because I didnt have the wherewithal to carry it on my car, but this year I asked if I might use their ramp to launch my inflatable kayak, and they graciously allowed me to. This is not true of other launch sites. I wholeheartedly endorse this place based on my experience buying, selling and launching. (no one gets five stars from me)
They will sell you kayak, let you test it and seem great during the initial sale but after that they don’t care. My seat back broke on my $500 pelican kayak after 2 years and I was basically told that it was a full repair and they couldn’t do it and couldn’t tell where to go. So much for kayak experts...so disappointing!
I will most definitely be ordering from them again. Found discontinued trolling motor mount for my old Native Ultimate ( hard to find ) on their site ordered and received quickly and very well packaged. Perfect! Scrolling through their site found some other items that I am interested in. My order came with a thanks and request for a review so here you go. Well pleased with my purchase from Oak Orchard. Still paddling in Tennessee until time to go back upstream and I decide to cheat with the trolling motor.... Hey nobody is looking 🙄😉😎
In short: The website was misleading about the stock, and the sales person was frustrating and not helpful in the least.I drove for over an hour yesterday to visit this store. Im looking for a good used canoe, as Im not sure how much I will be able to use it, so it doesnt make sense for me to buy brand new. Their online inventory listed over 20 used canoes with the promise This list is just a small portion of our actual inventory in bold red font. Since they have a pond to test boats, I decided to make the trip.Full disclosure: I can afford to buy a new canoe, Im just trying to be reasonable. A good salesman could very well have sold me a new one.The setting of the store is lovely and they had several buildings full of different types of boats. After wandering on our own for a while, a young woman offered to help us, so I told her what I was looking for. She passed us off to an older man. He did not greet us or tell us his name. We told him the make of a canoe that I knew I had liked when I tried it out, thinking it would be a good starting point for him to know what I was looking for. He said that was an old style (it isnt-3 manufacturers currently produce it) and walked us over to a brand new canoe that he claimed was based on the one I mentioned. The only similarity was the fact that it was a canoe. I told him that I had come to the store to look at their used inventory and was treated to a 5 minute monologue about how people keep all of their canoes and good used ones are rare. I had to interrupt him to say that Id driven a long way because their website listed many used boats. He started into the slow talk again so I bluntly asked if he had used canoes or not. He looked angry and then waved vaguely at 2 boats displayed between many other boats. I looked at the sales tags with the information about the boats. Nowhere did they say that they were used, there were no signs that they had ever been used, and they were priced in the same range as similar new boats, so I dont think they were actually used. After this, he started trying to sell my husband a boat and virtually ignored me, even after he was told repeatedly that I was the one buying. I was not asked a single question about style, what I planned to use it for, etc. After about 20 minutes of him talking about whatever he wanted to, Id had enough and decided to leave. At this point he became angry and wanted to know why I wouldnt test the boat that he had decided I should buy. I was trying to be polite and not say that I wasnt going to buy because he had not been helpful at all, so I repeated that I was looking for a used boat, which started him on another tangent about the availability of used boats and prices. He seemed to think it was all about price. I told him that I was not going to buy a new canoe from him and thanked him for his time, at which point he grunted something I didnt catch, turned and left the building without another word or glance in our direction.
Great service on the shipment of the spray deck. It was high quality, fit perfectly, and works great. There was an immediate order acknolegement by e-mail that also included the tracking number. The package was extremely well packed and arrived in great condition. Overall, an excellent job by Oak Orchard Canoe
People who are giving high reviews for this company have not been to any other company to compare.this is a horrible company. Order a kayak in April and have been told on its way.It is now August and it is still on its way. Because I would call for update I was bothering them and all they did was lie to me..They were rude that is including Mark and Todd..I have now canceled my order and was just laughed at by the woman the phone. I am letting you know about my experience with this company..I will be placing a complaint with the BBB.and on Facebook also Twitter any where I can .Because they really think that they can treat people the way they did me and there is nothing I can do about it. I WANT TO PROVE THEM WRONG.
Unfriendly staff. Youd think that after 4 months of lock down and the hit to small business, owners would go out of their way to extend a smile and welcome customers. Not here apparently. Sorry Oak Orchard for being the only customer and interrupting your day with a couple of questions. By the way, I really like the paddleboard cover. Its working just fine on my trip back to NC.
Ive bought a couple boats here, and lots of accessories. Today bought carts for a canoe and kayak. You might find better prices on the Net, but here you can see it, hold it, and try before you buy it. Friendly and helpful staff, but I think today it was the owner himself helping me.
We’ve rented here for years... until this year. As always, we tried to get a two seater kayak to enjoy for a few days and were eventually greeted by an extremely rude and condescending employee. Despite explaining that we are repeat customers that have been coming here for years, we were treated horribly and then told that they will not rent to us.Extremely disappointing and terrible business practice. Seems like they can treat their customers badly since they are the only kayak rental place around. We will be lugging ours up from Maryland from now on.
I bought my wifes kayak and a Yakima rack for my truck from them (about $2,000 worth of gear-June of 2015) It was a horrible experience. They were incredibly rude and impatient. They actually made my wife cry. The dad is going senile so maybe I can forgive him, but there is no excuse for the son.We bought the Wilderness System Zephyr 155 which by the way is an excellent boat. It has all sorts of adjustments to customize the fit for whomever is piloting it. It took us a year to figure out that shes been crammed in all wrong all along. For the money we spent, the least they could have done is put her into the boat and made the proper adjustments to the knee braces and such.We also bought a Yakima rack for my truck. At the time I didnt need both cross bars (I have a T-bar for my trailer hitch). I made the assumption that I was only paying for the one. It wasnt until much later that I found out that he charged me for both (apparently they come as a set from Yakima). The kayak cradles that he sold me to go with my Yakima system were actually TMS brand. They are all over the internet for $30 a set. He charged me $99.95 per set! When I took my kayak off of the racks, the J brackets would fall over because they were mounted on the round Yakima pipes and their brackets are square... huh? I called and was told that maybe if I put duct tape on the bars, the brackets would stay in place!Buy your kayak from Gear For Adventure in Hamburg. You will be so much happier.
Like a lot of the reviews I have read I will also comment and tell you to STAY FAR AWAY! This place was probably the worst customer service I have ever had. I left in complete and utter shock. We had planned to get a canoe so we decided to give Oak Orchard Canoe Kayak a call before we made the 1and a half hour drive to go pick it up. They said they had it available and that we could come down and check it out.We went through the entire process, since we are first time canoe owners we needed to get all the essentials. We needed life jackets, paddles, roof rack, something to store the canoe, etc. When we had FIRST walked in and went and checked out the canoe we had verbally told the young lady that we were going to buy the canoe. We then went and checked out the accessories we needed to purchase on top of the canoe. I would say we had been in the store for over an hour. It was not until we were ready to attach the roof rack to the vehicle to mount the canoe that they decided to tell us they had SOLD that canoe over an hour ago!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WERE IN THE STORE WHEN THEY SOLD THE CANOE TO SOMEONE ELSE OVER THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We then talked to the manager so it seems and he told us we could order one and it would come in in about 3-4 weeks BUT since the canoe was going to be shipped individually instead of a load we would need to pay an ADDITIONAL $200.00 so it would be about $1,000.00 instead of $800.00.CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT HE WAS GOING TO CHARGE US FOR THE SHIPPING!!! It was not like he was going to have it delivered to our house, we would STILL have to drive all the way out there to pick it up. Then the manager decided to say, you dont need a 16 canoe you two look like the 14 would be just fine.. WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT SIZE CANOE I WANT! He then ended it with, situations like this happen. HA!Regardless to stay this experience was HORRIBLE! I would never recommend this store to anyone!!
I have NEVER received the level of helpful, informative, and insightful considerations as at the level this store is consistent with. Example: jovial, tutorial, and lengthy care and interaction for a purchase on an insanely busy Saturday morning. This store has its own docks and rentals on a Lake Ontario bay, it is during a summer of seemingly endless rain; and on this day it was incredibly busy due to the current rare balmy, sunny weather. The store manager spent more than 1.5 hours with me AND still respectfully and efficiently dealt or managed his wonderful staff with subsequent customers and myriad day-renters. I am now a loyal customer from the first transaction on the phone! BTW: manager for 21 years is a lifelong serious and professional al canoer with very explicit experience from the craft to paddles and life preservers... and is a talented instructor.
Untrustworthy company. Steer clear! I made a group reservation for rentals a month in advance. Myself and my wife called 3 separate times to confirm our reservations and get further information. Spoke with the same person each time. (The male owner)The day of the trip comes, we drove all the way from Buffalo with 2 car groups. Arrive, and they are completely closed. I go up to the house and knock on the door, the owner comes to the door and looks at me like I am insane. I said Im there for the 10:00 reservation. He says he has no such reservation and they arent doing river rentals because of the amount of recent rain. Besides they dont open until 12pm...um what? We confirmed multiple times!?He had our phone number, and should have called us to cancel if the water levels were a problem. However he never mentioned on numerous phone calls the possibility of a cancellation because of water levels. He was not in the least bit apologetic or helpful. Basically said too bad. Dont give your money to these people. They treated us like we were an inconvenience (even were rude on the phone) rather than paying customers.
Emailed Heather about a spare part which I couldnt find anywhere Australia. Promptly replied with options. Called and spoke with Mark who got the order under way without any dramas. Package arrived to Queensland Australia in only a few days. Very happy with the spare that fits my canoe perfectly. THANK YOU! :D :D :D
Do not go to this store. I purchased a 2500 dollar fishing kayak from them. Two years down the road, the scupper plugs broke, causing the kayak to be unuseable. The company that makes the kayak has a LIFETIME warranty on their hull.I took the kayak in, as instructed by the owners staff. I was told I would have to deal with the owner. When the owner came out, he inspected the kayak, and then stated what do you want me to do about it? I informed him that ocean kayak has a life time warranty. He stated that he didnt know what they had, and that I would have to wait for the rep to come around again. When I asked when the rep was coming he stated I dont know, but its usually in the fall This was in JULY.He eventually started yelling at me, telling me that it wasnt his problem that my kayak broke, and that he didnt even know I was coming (thats irrelevant, but whatever) I informed him that I was instructed to bring in the kayak at this time, during this day, by his staff. He asked if I got a name from the person who answered the phone, and I said no, it was a thirty second conversation, I didnt realize I would come up against this hostility. He stated Well, I dont know anything about it, i have people who mow my lawn answer my phone. I stated Well, maybe you shouldnt have people who mow the lawn answer the phone. He then yelled at me, poking me in the chest Dont tell me how to run my business! He tried to blame the issue on me improperly storing the kayak- apparently if you store a kayak in such a way that it COMPLETELY FILLS WITH WATER, the water will freeze and it will break the scupper plugs. Only one thing wrong with this theory- For one, it was JULY- not a lot of ice in july.So- he stated we would need to leave the kayak there, because if we wanted a warranty replacement he would have to have the rep look at it, and that he didnt know when the rep would be coming. I informed him I would be calling Ocean Kayak the very second it opened the following day. I took many pictures of the boat, because I didnt trust him not to mess with it in an effort to make me lose my warranty. He took pictures at this time as well.I called, and they were extremely appologetic. They stated that in order to procede with the warranty replacement, they would need pictures of the boat.I then waited TWO WEEKS for the guy to send the pictures of the boat to the company. When my warranty replacement finally came in, it wasnt an upgraded model like mine, which meant many of the fittings and extras were not on it, and not installed. I asked if they were going to install them. The owner stated they would not.My friend and I spent about two hours pulling fittings off my old boat- hatches, hooks, rod holders, etc. I was instructed by the owner to cut a wire for my rudder to get it off. Surprise! It was not the proper way, and my three hundred dollar rudder is not worthless. In the end, I still dont have all my fittings on the kayak. I ended up having to purchase special tools to get the items on and the kayak cut properly. All because he didnt want to do any work to get me a warranty boat, which cost him exactly zero dollars.
Every interaction we have had with these people they have been nothing but rude. (We have rented from them 2 times in the past. They were rude each time but it is such a beautiful place, that we decided it was worth dealing with the grumpy owners) We had scheduled and confirmed reservations, drove an 1 1/2, got here and they were closed and said that they werent doing rentals today and had no record of our reservation. Too bad so sad, they didnt even care! Dont trust this place. Bad customer service. Will never come back.
Dont shop here! I bought a canoe from them last winter, and it was a total rip off. They sold me the canoe as a new canoe from 2012, at a reduced price, just to get rid of it. Turns out it was, in fact a factory 2nd The title was in bad shape and illegible, so I had to order a new one from the manufacturer. When it came, I noticed the Quality, 2nd written on the title. I called the manufacturer who confirmed that they sell 2nd quality boats to dealers at a reduced cost. The manufacturer said that, usually, the dealer will pass on the reduced cost to the consumer. Not only did they misrepresent the canoe, they charged me just as much if not more than other local shops. The only reason I bought from them was that no one else had this specific canoe in stock. The salesman, Mike, was a smooth talker. Even though we clearly expressed what a huge purchase this was for us, and how tight $ was, he sold us a junk boat. The defect in the boat was that one of the load bearing supports for the front seat had been molded too thin and had crumpled on itself at some point during the manufacturing / drying process. This is a big deal. Unfortunately, we didnt notice this until much later. The boat came with 2 fishing rod holders they installed. Mike said it was equipment worth well over $100. Turns out, the rod holders were less than $20 each.I finally called the owner of oak orchard after I got really disgusted. He gave me some bs runaround about what a great deal it was. There are several other issues, but hopefully the ones described are enough for you to see what a scam this place is.Shame on us for trusting this business. Never again.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. THEY ARE RUDE, INSULTING AND ALL AROUND POOR. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. Long story short, they may call themselves canoe and kayak experts, but the only thing they are proficient in is poor customer service. We went to the Waterport location. We were not greeted or welcomed and treated like we should be the experts while loading the kayaks we wanted to rent. The owner came out and told his employee that we had to take shorter kayaks to fit better on my trailer. He looked at us and hollered that HIS KAYAKS ARENT GETTING LOADED LIKE THAT... like its our fault the poor employee was giving us the longer ones. Their biggest thing was to make sure we got the equipment back to them on time, so they could go home. Then, when trying to pay for the rental, the guy at the desk made us wait while he took a 15 minute phone call trying to locate someone elses shipment online. Really!!? Get the guys number and call him back!!!!! Time is ticking! Oh, and the owner came in while the guy was on the phone and told US to keep his dog in the office. We dont work there, worry about your own dang dog. Maybe I should send a bill for dog sitting. They never gave us any pointers or instruction on how to properly use their equipment or keep us safe either. So anyway, determined not to let it ruin our day, we went kayaking. When we returned (on time) with the equipment, another employee started to help us unload. At which time the owners wife walks by and gives us attitude and a lecture about the mud in the floor of the kayak..... Wait..... You run a kayak rental place. Kayaks get muddy taking them in and out of the water. (You dont need to be an expert to know this). I asked if they thought we should have a hose in my truck to wash them out? Maybe I should have taken them home first? But then they wouldnt have been able to close on time and charge me a late fee. She said that next time they will charge us to clean them out. I told her that there will be no next time. They didnt have a hose available for us to clean them out ourselves either, they just want to charge you more. And besides, I should charge THEM for having to clean out the birds nest and broken robin eggs and yolks all over the bottom of them when we picked them up. Pretty nasty for being so concerned about cleanliness..... Anyway, this place is WAY over priced and will ruin your day if you go there... Tell everybody you know, save your hard earned cash for a different business. STAY AWAY FROM OAK ORCHARD CANOE AND KAYAK..... the experts.....

Ive only ever dealt with the store in Waterport, and found they were very accommodating, if a bit pricey. They have a huge inventory of boats, accessories, and racks / rack accessories. They also run a shuttle service to the creek so you can go play while they put the rack on top of your car...
Oak Orchard was responsive and efficient. I wanted a canoe made and delivered to my father, and they delivered on time. Prior to each phase of the delivery and purchase Oak Orchard contacted me to keep me apprised. In my estimation they appear to be a solid, professional outfit.
I just got back from here and the service was absolutely horrible they were rude and didnt know how to greet us properly. When we got into our canoes there were about 4 spiders crawling and by the time we got close to giving it back another spider was crawling on my arm. I told them about it and they just said sorry there is nothing we can do about that. Never again
The only thing they have going for them is a large selection. Their attitude is terrible, they are rude, they have no concept of customer service. Bay Creek knows what customer service is and would get all of my business, except that they have a much smaller inventory.
Great customer experience with Heather and the owner. I shared my concerns and wants for my new Kayak and they set me up with an Old Town Sportsman. No pressure just did a lot of listening and gave me options. After they loaded the kayak onto my truck, gave me some tips on tie downs and I was back off to Elma NY. It is worth the ride!!

2022-02-27I placed a deposit for a kayak trailer that would come to around $2100All the deal were done over the phone with the salesman Robert. He was not very helpful at the start. When I ask question I would get short, quick answers. This week I told him I needed to know the final price so I can pay. He never called back. So I decided this is lousy sales service. I bought a$2300 Kayak trailer from a nearby dealership that was knowledegeable and helpful over the phone and canceled my order with oak Orchard

2022-06-22Small purchase -- couldnt be happier. I needed a replacement hatch cover for my Impex 12-year-old kayak. An obscure part. Found Oak Orchard blind on the web. They had it in stock (amazingly). Ordering was easy. Shipping was prompt.

2022-01-15First I want to say that normally I do not review businesses, however I want to thank Robert for the excellent customer service that I received during my recent purchase of an ACS2 replacement seat for my 14 Necky Zoar kayak. He pulled a seat from stock and measured it as I measured my boat and assured me that it should fit. Shipping was quick, the installation was simple (30 minutes) and I could not be more satisfied. As a business owner I really appreciate first class service. Thanks again, Lou

2022-01-08Tl;dr: great advice, would absolutely buy from these guys again---I live on the other side of the country and am an avid kayaker. Ive gotten my kids into it, as well as my girlfriend and her daughter. We now have a mess of kayaks lying around the garage. Before the Seattle winter set in, i needed to sort out canopy covers for all our boats. Some are cheap lake boats, others are good quality near-shore ocean boats. After spending two afternoons trying to find covers, going thru sizing tables on multiple websites, considering buying custom covers, one single quick email exchange with Oak Orchard sorted me. I received clear explanations about which boats needed which types of covers and why. I bought 3 covers and had them shipped to the PNW. Theres simply no replacement for friendly expert advice and the folks i exchanged emails with left me confident in my purchases.A few notes on the shipment.1) Packed with care. It was obvious this wasnt coming from an Amazon DC with a few packets of SealedAir inside. Someone made sure to pack this so it would arrive safely on my end.2) if your grandfather wrote you instructions, theyd look like the supplemental sheet included in the box. There are WORDS IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Theres some underlining. Someone took the time to highlight an import bit in yellow. There are links to YouTube videos. They include their phone number! At least for me, that extra set of instructions was very welcome and the WordPerfect formatting just made it even better. I loved it. To me it showed that they care about my experience, that Ill be successful with the widget i purchased from them.3) the included brochure! First, lots of things in it I want to buy in the spring. Second, this is what a brochure would look like if I sat down and laid it out in PowerPoint. In 2006. When i say its epic, I mean that as a compliment. I read it front to back, there was lots of useful information in it, and theres a snapshot of someones kids loading a canoe on an Dodge pickup from the early 80s. It feels a bit like a Trader Joes insert, if Trader Joe loved being out on the water. In sum, I had a great experience and would absolutely buy from these folks again. Thrilled that my new 28.8k modem allowed me to find them on Compuserve.Happy 2022 folks. See you on the water

2021-07-28Mark and everybody that works at oak orchard are awesome. You have any questions about kayaks canoes or boating they have the answer. Definitely not like a department store or any other store to buy a boat, you need to go to oak orchard may spend a little more but well worth the experience. You can try your kayak or canoe before you buy it. They have an area you can walk and see otter Creek. I suggest if you want to buy any kind of watercraft go to oak orchard.

2020-05-24Kayak cockpit covers fit perfectly. I was afraid of buying the wrong size and Oak Orchard was the only vendor that listed covers specifically for my kayaks. I was also looking for a product made in the USA and these were. Fast and reasonable shipping as well. Couldnt be more satisfied with the purchase.
