Excellent customer service. I called before I went there and the gentleman answered all of my questions and checked to make sure what I wanted was in stock. He was very kind, polite and professional. When I arrived at the store it was clean, neat and orderly. I approached a young lady working there and asked if anyone could assist me with my purchase as it was quite heavy. She immediately asked the nice gentleman employee and he happily assisted me to the register and to my car. The young lady cashier was extremely friendly, kind and polite. EVERY employee I encountered tonight was extremely pleasant, polite, helpful, friendly and professional. I hope Ocean State Job Lot recognizes the wonderful and valuable staff they have. I was beyond impressed. I drove 50 minutes to this store because they had what I wanted in stock. It was beyond worth it to have such a pleasant experience. I was there at 6:20 tonight. Unfortunately I did not get any of their names but I appreciate that they went above and beyond. They have excellent customer service skills.
Its cheap and sometimes some really great deals. We like it. The insider deals always has a great little deal or sometimes unexpected cashback. We always get excited about the free food section. There is always one item we try and love... recently snack packs of green olives and we all scream its free when we eat it so dont write that section off.
We shopped today at the New City location for a outdoor dining table. The only one available was one missing the hardware. Fortunately we only needed the glass top as we already have the same table but the glass broke. Yvesnord who was in charge was extremely accommodating. She called her manager who offered us an even deeper discount than advertised & then she & another staff member put the large item in the car for me. Yvesnord showed excellent sales skills. Todays experience was outstanding!! Thank you again.
Before going into any store I like to go online and check to ensure it says in stock. Due to Covid I had called both New city and Nanuet location to see if the item was in stock. Once I had arrived at the new city location they had 2 bins, that were damaged, the cashier stated they may have it on truck on Sunday. Since then I had checked the website and came into the store 2 more times but yet they still did not have it in stock. My last trip to the store one of the cashiers was unable to help me so she had a another person attempt to help but that person stated that due to a long line she is unable to check in the back for the item. She did not offer to have the item in stock or let me know anything. The lady did inform me the website may have not updated, I was even willing to pick up the damaged bins but they still didn’t have it. This store may have items for less, but they need to learn to better serve their customers. There was no offer to get it in from another store and there was no promise they can custom order an item for the qty I requested and have it on truck day.Instead I decided to go the amazon route. I paid one dollar more for the item but atleast it came to my doorstep.
This store is really good for cheap prices. The workers are really nice always offering help. The store just needs a little more work done, since some aisles get messy. The only bad experience I had was seeing the manager I believe being really rude. They were verbally rude to people. That is what usually ruins my experience when I go in. But I can’t not come in because I love buying things there!
I just visited this store, and have been here couple of times. The issue today is that I bought a couple of items that were listed at a certain price and at the check out I noticed that none of the items were at the price advertised and paid taxes. So taxes werent the reason of the extra charge. A bungee cord listed at $1.00 came out to be at $1.42. Flooring mats listed at $9.99 were actually $10.19, etc. Little by little it added up to a few bucks. If they want to make this changes in prices they should make sure to do it in their price tags before opening.
Two individuals were extraordinary. Separately, Kwame Fields and Liz Almonte went out of their way to help me find what I needed. Kwame is energetic and efficient and an outstanding person who really knows your inventory. Liz showed her interest in helping and pointed out exactly what my husband and I were asking for.They both deserve a resounding round of applause: it was pleasure shopping at Ocean State in New City.
First time visiting this store and although they have alot of items they dont really have a wide variety of items. Prices on most things are around average maybe a little less. Overall a very interesting store but I feel like they should have a more diverse selection of things. About 1/4 of the store had to do with pool items.
I love this place. Right next door is Stop and Shop and they both have many of the same products but Ocean State charges far less. They always have a surprising mix of products and you can find some really incredible bargains.I dont want to take that away from them but I feel compelled to write about my experience today because it rankled so much. Mothers Day - posted around the store were notices they were going to charge you a 2 percent premium on all your purchases for the day. All money would collected for the employees who have been working during the virus shutdown. On top of that they gave each of their employees a $2 per hour raise. Oh. And if you didnt want to participate, just tell the cashier before she rang you up. I did that. And the surcharge was added anyway. The cashier did not know how to reverse the charge. She had to ask a couple of other women working there. The end result was she just handed my the amount. I said to her I told you I didnt want to be charged, right? She replied, yes. But it happened anyway. I am going to guess they thought everyone would feel awkward and guilt tripped into giving up the surcharge. I wasnt. SO. You have people who are actually working. They just got a raise. And you are going to charge other people who might be out of work, on a fixed income, are shopping in your store to SAVE money EXTRA for people who are working, getting a paycheck and just got a raise? Seriously?? Who thought of this public relations misstep? And not only that you pretend its voluntary but your registers are set to charge it regardless?Very bad move. I might be in the minority but I dont want to be taken advantage of. And I deeply resent anyone who thinks I am too cowardly to speak out. Shabby move, Ocean State. I am giving you three stars for this latest gambit. Otherwise you wouldve received five.
This is a store that sells random stuff , all mixed but good stuff ,and good deals, they sell clothing and picturs, pet toys and pools, lamps and rugs, arts and crafts ,and electric toys , so basically they have a bit of it all so if your looking for any of these STUFF they got it, the costumer serves is good and helpful, the store is not so big like Walmart,Costco etc, but its a nice size, there is a big parking lot that is usually empty so parking is not a issue.
They would get zero Stars if it wasnt for decent price, the service is horrific Ive never had worst service in a retail place every single staff member there needs to go for remedial customer service training or they wont stay in business for too long no matter how cheap the prices are.

2022-03-16I came into the new city store over this past weekend looking for a specific product .Adam approached me asking if I needed help the store had limited stock of the product he called the store in nanuet to verify if they had the product in stock before I made the trip.Adam exhibited excellent customer service and went out of his way to assist me. In other stores staff would have just said sorry we are out without checking .U need more people like Adam on your staff management should be proud.

2022-04-12I was in the store today it was my first time shopping here, Adam the customer service lead assited me , i was confused about a fan he showed me the variety of fans. I was confused between two products,I was satisfied with the product he suggested .He was polite and courteousI will definitely be making another trip to your store.He made me feel welcome and his excellent customer service skills made it a joy to shop. alot of ppl should learn customer service skills like him ive had experiences with retailerswhere associates say i dont know and walk away .

2022-03-26They have Marika leggings for $11.99 right now. Love the bargains and the name brands they get runs of. Always stop in to stock up and find unique surprises when I am in Rockland.
