As always, went shopping for bargains and found them as usual. The front end staff is generally friendly, you should keep in mind management is who is making the profit off of your retail investment you are pouring into that company, not the under-paid, overstressed, AND under staffed employees at the front lines dealing with your idiotic rantings dumped on them daily.
I shop here every now and again. They have a good selection of things, some useful and some are not. Its a good place to find odds and ends that you need for a variety of things. I never had an issue with the staff or a negative experience here. I will go again.
Good, I like this place, variety and some healthy choices, but the line was long to check out, my back hurt standing there.
The food is always fresh and tasty. The staff is always friendly and they really know what they are doing. A better bargain you will never find
They have items that you will not come across at most other places. Really low priced bird seed.

Surprisingly has a great gluten free selection. They have baking mixes, chips, and even gluten free candy on occasion. The store is fairly large and has an assortment of things (school supplies, bird food, pet toys, and even clothes). The staff is friendly and helpful. Fun to go look around because you never know what you could find!
Update: I cant go there any more because I spend too much money. They had a new deal. Buy a specific object then get a card, which returns all your money on next purchase. That means you get a useful high quality item FREE. Its hard to stop buying. Usualy a store like this has low quality items. Not Ocean State. Loaded with brand name, high quality. My wife likes DeChecco pasta the premium of all pasta. There it is, a choice of many of its varieties, at Ocean State offered at a low price. Changing inventory. A wonderful surprise each time I go. Ask an employee where something that you want is located. They just dont point. They walk you there and assist you to find.
OMG! The selection of items here is in another category! I live in Brooklyn and every DOLLAR STORE or LOT STORE has the same ol stuff!!! This place adds agriculture, farm goods, indoor farming etc. etc. goods to the mix at crazy prices! ALSO they change up their inventory based on what their buyers find making me want to go back and see what they have, regularly!
Trashy employees and customers. Like a, where the trailer park meets the ghetto atmosphere.. Ive witnessed employees harassing customers, extreme rudeness and insubordination. Disgusting and revolting but very Poughkeepsie in any case. The price to quality ratio is a joke too. Not worth your time and aggravation, you wait in a huge line for one or maybe two registers to buy mostly questionable quality merchandise with people who have no manners and seem miserable. No thanks, you might as well just go to Walmart if you want that kind of experience. No thanks!

Had picked up a coat rack from Walmart earlier for 24.26...Heading to Poughkeepsie, stopped at Job Lot for a couple things. Found same rack at Job Lot, for 12.00, so returning other rack...l
Its a big warehouse. Its got a lot of your everyday items here. Nothing special as far as I can see.

Coming in I was greeted by a helpful and friendly employee who pointed me to correct aisle. The store was orderly and I was able to find my school supplies. The prices were fine but the workers were just so kind.
Definitely one of my favorite places to shop. They have quite a variety of items including houseware, clothing, cosmetics, and electronics. You never know what new items you will see each time you visit. Plus, they carry lots of organic food, snacks, and drinks! Beware of the long lines and those who sort of jump on ahead of others. It you are not familiar wit the layout, it may be challenging to find certain items. Organization could be improved upon, but overall a really good shopping experience.

Where do I even start? Ocean State Job Lot has stolen my heart. Nothing can compare to the rush I get walking into this store. They have everything I could ever dream of and much more. It is hard to imagine where I would be without Job Lot in my life.

They need more people working there to get customers out quicker but other than that I like the store.
Good prices and a lot of products
Love Job Lot. The items are always changing (thats what they do) so there is always the chance of finding something new and fun (or yummy!) Its clean and tidy and the people are nice. Just dont expect a high end market. It is what it is! But for what it is, its great :)

I just moved to Poughkeepsie everything you need for your home is at Job Lot and its inexpensive

I gave three stars because it seems like their inventory doesnt change much, especially in the way of clothes. I do love the oriental rugs they have but I dont like the prices on them...then again, I dont have much knowledge about them so I cant really say that! On the other hand, my mom just loves this place!!

We ask Julie if there is any way the chair could be assembled because I needed a higher chair. Julie went above and beyond she assembled the chair and throughout all that ..she help every other customer that ask her a question. It was perfect fit.Thank you for having such a Kind Caring Employee..Outstanding and Professional.
Id give 3.5 stars if possible. The stores pretty basic, well stocked but nothing fancy, which is fine. The employees are all very friendly and always eager to help. I have no real complaints about this store and must admit that Im happy to have one near as they have all sorts of merchandise and its better than having to drive down Rte 9 to shop for little things.. Super convenient and very reasonable prices. Im glad theyre here and seem to spend most of my money there on pool supplies... :-)
I got a lot of things here, but I didn’t notice the prices to be particularly cheaper than dollar stores. A number of things were also not priced like overstock seltzer and I didn’t really have the effort to see if it was a deal or not. The staff seemed to be a bit reserved and I didn’t see anyone on the floor. Nevertheless, this seems like a good place to stop after you go food shopping to pick up hard to find items. In my personal opinion, I’m used to grocery outlet on the West Coast, which is more grocery or oriented and has a much wider selection. But as a first time you’re going to Ocean State Job Lot, I can’t complain and I’ll probably be coming back in the future for knickknacks and what not
I found a good variety of items on sale, but many of those I was interested in were not visibly priced; and there was little assistance available for finding prices. I left the store without purchasing the items I wanted to purchase.
Great place to find some really cool things for around the house. Everything from sweatshirts to driveway markers. My only issue with this one is that the customer service is lacking. I have visited multiple times in one day and never even been greeted until I got to the register. Everyone from managers to lot attendants pass by you and they have a look on their face like O I hope this couple does not as my any questions. This company would make allot more money if their staff just put fourth some effort.
Long waits, left once because of it and was about to on my recent and likely last trip to this location. Two female workers yelled at a guy for complaining that there should be more registers open. He was right, as out of the blue after asking for the manager, they were full.I cant tolerate the wait and the arrogance and aggression from the two ladies towards the guy was to much and really disrespectful because he was right. Why at close is everyone hiding and not getting us out of the store except for that annoying announcement?10 months ago I felt this way. Something has changed. Always an great odd selection of things!

Live about 35 minutes away. Was in the area. They have a lot of merchandise at good prices and some things that are hard to find.I even bought a throw rug there that I wasnt expecting too. I will go again and even make a trip to look around. Could spend lots of time in hereUsually long wait because only a few registers open.
Ok, so... Ive gotten rugs, a kayak, makeup, winter wear and accessories, toiletries, furniture (the kind that you build), kitchenware, art supplies, school supplies, bedding, toys, pet supplies, calendars, reading glasses, etc. and still not sure if Ive taken advantage of all the things they provide... Lord knows Ive tried! I think I love this store too much. And Im glad they provide local kids a place to work close to home and give them an option other than fast food.

Its a good place to get bargain prices on walnuts, maple syrup, European chocolate and preserves, Bobs Red Mill, and other non-perishables. Some of the clothing, cleaning supplies, and household goods are decent quality and reasonably priced. Be aware that stock selection fluctuates frequently. Just because you got something on one visit is no guarantee that it will be there on the next one.
An employee was walking by all of the customers (myself included) in a long line for the next available register open. There were only two registers open at the time, and I don’t mind the wait due to the great prices. However, what I do mind was the two employees walking by the line and quite loudly complaining how, and I quote, “...stupid these customers can be, standing in one line for two registers open”. Now I would’ve loved if someone either jumped on a register to help or even guided us along on where to stand, but hearing not one, but TWO employees call customers who were being patient and calm stupid really set me off. There wasn’t a manager or supervisor available to talk to me so I had to leave. Definitely NOT satisfied with the customer care here. Prices are great though for essentials like paper towels and plates though.

Perhaps my favorite store in the Hudson Valley! Lots of interesting food items from Europe. Love the crazy deals! Who needs Walmart when you have Ocean State?!!

To Poughkeepsie From west virginia and i have got to say i needed help finding plants water buckets. Then one of the sales person help me. If reading i want to thnak him too much for assisting me. Slick back hair mexican about looking. Really fluent of chinese speaking. I will be coming back and hoping to running into him again nice kid. Do you need something? Anything? Cool, cause job lot probably has some variant of it thats pretty cheap. Maybe not good, but cheap.Good place to go if you need to pick up stuff for your dorm. I picked up a fan from here for $15 freshman year (no air conditioning) and that thing is still going strong.Dont go here if you want to eat healthy, but they have as many snacks as you could eat. $1 candy.
We want to see if they had any canoes no luck. The store was fully stocked though.
Good prices wide variety however the other day two of the items I went to purchase were not skewed so after waiting for what I thought a reasonable time told the cashier to forget those items because I am not going to keep waiting. Of the number of times I had been there this was my less than pleasant experience I know staff work hard hopefully whoever is in charge will see this and make certain items are marked
I am not really all that excited about this place. However, I will say they do have very good prices on a lot of different items. They carry everything from food products to clothing so it is definitely worth taking a trip. They do carry some things that Wil really surprise you.

This is a well maintained, large store. Theres always interesting deals in all kinds of departments, including seasonal merchandise. The food section is extensive, with a good selection. The staff is friendly and very helpful

Clean, organized store. I had a small issue and the store manager rectified it immediately and assured me it would never happen again. Always has what I need. Pretty soon it will be my 1 stop shopping store.....
Safely browse the aisles and always find something you need. Distance rules in effect. All the cashiers are so friendly.
Prices are great but you can tell that theyre having a hard time keeping the shelves stocked. Also the register line needs signage as I accidentally jumped ahead of 20 people in line.

I always find something i want or need. Most things are less money than elsewhere. Some not. I found some awesome cotton shower curtains that when resewn will make great kitchen curtains.

Amazing store I get sk many deals here and theres a lot of generic things but the quality on them is almost always top notch at cheaper than mediocre quality name brands. Way better than big lots or. Other discount stores.

This place has all your indoor and outdoor needs. They are always well stocked and the staff are friendly and the deals are great. I enjoy just going to see whats new.

Overall, its a great place to find some good deals on name brand and off brand products.
I personally liked the store but I dont like what theyve been doing since the pandemic started they jacked up the price of hand sanitizer by almost double the price and same with the plastic disposable gloves theyre more than double what they were charging before they also charging $0.09 more on every product I used to like going here but since this whole pandemic started I I dont like the fact that their price gouging on essential items they also started selling baby wipes because they were hard to get for a little bit because of the pandemic and now theyre charging an arm and a leg for them the only thing I can do is just not spend my money here anymore because its not right what theyre trying to do and then on top of that theyre taking an additional 2 cents for every dollar you spend to give to the workers for them working at this time when I dont feel like the consumer should be paying for this I think the company should be paying that especially since theyre charging me $0.09 more for every product and their price gouging on the lot of products and the only way they dont take the additional $0.02 for every dollar you spend is if you tell them because they dont mention it at all so on top of them charging you more money for every product they have and price gouging on essential items they wants you to split the bill as a customer for their employees to get a few cents more an hour which makes no sense its hard time so you jack up the price on stuff and then take more money on top of that so we can pay your employees what you should be paying them many reasons why I will not shop there anymore
I love the junk store ! Everything in it is exactly what you dont need, but have to have !!!! I bought snow shoes BAM now its snowing. Cold outside ? 6 dolla holla at some faux leather gloves. Summer time ? F$#* yeah I need a redneck spa ( kiddie pool ) If they dont have it, you dont need it !

2021-07-29OK, you got me. I am definitely a bargain shopper. I don’t usually go out of my way to go to Ocean State Job Lot but if I’m in the area, I do stop in. I assume that most of their merchandise are closeouts from other places, so you can find interesting things. I like that they often have health food brands at steeply discounted prices. The bathroom is quite clean.

2021-07-26Really great department store with everything you can think of for a really great bargain. The experience was decent, I like to take my time when I shop. Sometimes I will return to my basket from another aisle after I’ve parked it if it’s getting full. I had the unfortunate experience of someone whether it was an employee or customer (I am doubting the ladder), remove my basket and nowhere to be found. I looked down every aisle and when I had spoken to an employee he addressed my concern and returned with a basket with what seemed to be mine, but about 90% of the items I chose were gone, and about 5 or 6 new items were thrown in there. I was really disappointed in that. Otherwise I would’ve given 5 stars

2022-04-12This is a great little everything but the kitchen sink store. Dollar stores are a blessing for the working class community in general, and while this isnt technically a dollar store, it has a similar look and feel and the prices are great!

2022-02-22Kind of messy and an old, run down feeling. The registers are 30 year old IBM rejects! Theyre prices are all over the place. Some good deals and others way over priced. Buyer beware. Only reason we went here was to kill time. Wont be returning. Staff was friendly.
