Saw a terrible review on facebook about an older white man that works here. To sum up the story a white wife called for a price on a bike for their daughter, husband went to pick up the bike and was told a different price, wife called again about pricing and when husband confronted the price difference given to him and his wife he was told the price varies on the kinds if people and does not like selling bikes to “his kind”. This post is going viral on facebook. Do not shop here.
After you buy a bike from him consider it the end. He tries to scam you for more money for repairs even though they are not needed. Nasty , rude and poor customer service. Stay away from this place.
This guy is a rip-off artist. Charges more than msrp for bikes. My fault for not researching more before purchasing. Also over charges for repairs. Quoted 100 dollars for a broken derailleur and minor wheel trueing. When I asked for details of quote he said 50 just for the part I know retails for 15 dollars tops. Avoid unless you have money to burn.
Ridiculously overpriced! Over $90 for 2 tubes and 1 tire! I couldve bought a new bike at this price! Absolute ripoff! Worst part is hes extremely rude and arrogant!
It pays to shop around before getting repairs at this shop. It is a real rip off at this store. I always felt prices were high here, but I bought my bike from this store about 4 years ago and always returned there for maintenance. I brought my bike there 2 months ago because the chain came off. The owner Scott told me it would cost $250.00 to repair it because the gears were messed up and bent. I took it to Hempstead bicycle and paid $30 for the repair. Will never go back to Oceanside again. Please shop around.
The guy was so rude, he was just not helpful enough. It’s like his time is gold. Not willing to help. He said quote I have only half hour left. I cannot go over what parts you need. He let me wait outside. I will never ever go to that bike store again.
I dont mind a little sarcasm as long as its not overboard. Im a New Yorker so you really have to pile it on or be nasty too for that to bother me. That I was charged 25 percent over MSRP on a helmet does. Sure, it is incumbent upon me to be saavy, but there is also responsibility on the part of the merchant not to gouge the community being served. Of course if it were a larger purchase, due diligence would have been practiced, but you cant start an investigation before every small one. True to the day, one cannot let their guard down for a single instant. Shame...
They were very nice and the price was afordable. They didn’t have the color bike assembled yet and said that they will do it in a 1 1/2 and they did. I definitely recommend to go there!! :D
I recently read a disturbing review on social media that this particular establishment quotes different prices according to the individuals ethnicity. If this is true, I employ and encourage those of you who can and will THINK TWICE!

All I can say is that an online merchant or big-box store cant provide you with service. If you buy a bicycle here, they will provide free lifetime tuneups. Most places will charge you upwards of $100 for each tuneup.If you want to plod along on a crappy Schwinn from Walmart, expect it to be resting on the curb or on craigslist within a year.If you want a quality bicycle, you go to a Local Bike Shop.BTW - Im about to buy bike #3 from Oceanside Cycle and Ive been satisfied with each purchase.
He did right by me. . Hes also a small business. . Go try and get your cheap bike fixed at a big box store .Not going to happen.. We need guys like him in our town. Dont put down his trade by saying hes a rip off , when is something you couldnt do in the first place.

This Bike Store owner is a great guy, who knows a TON about bicycles. Always steers you in the right direction and never lets you down.
He quoted a price on something gave him money but then he didnt want to tell me how much it was because gave him money on a earlier date he probably didnt Remember but I he cheated me. Because prices is on the card he gave me

Not only that, you tuned it up because my bike was originally purchased from your store, You gave it a nice cleaning!! It was worth my time and investment.

2021-07-31My husband took my daughter today because she outgrew her old bike. He had an amazing experience. He said Scott was super helpful, kind and accommodating.My daughter quietly said to my husband that she would miss the bell on her old bike. He threw one in & a kickstand for her. They also service the bike for its lifetime.My husband went to a couple of other local stores but they didn’t have the inventory like Oceanside Cycle did.Highly recommend!

2021-05-28Came into the shop looked around, a young lady helped me out and then the owner came in and patiently helped me out. Found me a perfect bike and upon check out he calibrated the bike and put on a sticker which would allow for lifetime maintenance. Sure enough after a few heavy first rides I had to take it in as I was having an issue with my gears and he fixed the issue with a friendly conversation and no charge. Great guy, great business and no issues. I would absolutely recommend this small business

2021-04-10Excellent service! We had 4 bikes that needed tune ups. I called 7 bicycle stores on LI/Queens and each said they would have to keep the bike for a minimum of 2 weeks and was about $90 each?!! Called Oceanside Bicycle and the owner Scott was awesome! He said to bring the bikes in and he will have them done same day. He was done in 2 hours!! He also only charged according to what the bike needed (two didn’t need full time ups) which was amazing! Definitely purchasing our next bike from here!!

2020-05-16The older Male that works here is a racist. My white wife calls about a bike we wanted for our daughter and He tells her the price. Then I show up to pick it up and pay for it he tells me its 200 dollars more then what he told me wife. I had my wife call up there again while I was there and he tells her the same price she call about the first time. I said something to him about it. And he tells me prices varies on the kind of people that comes to his store. Then tells me he doesnt want to sell his bikes to my kind if Im going to have a problem with his prices. People like him make me sick. I suggest no one should go there.

2020-05-20If you need a bike, this is the place to go. Scott is friendly and knows his stuff. Great, fast service. He set my son up with a terrific bike. Very happy with our purchase and look forward to going back.

2020-06-27Early march i called about a bike to buy, he said $550 without Tax on the phone. I go into the store the day i called and tried out the bike. It was very nice bike. I was about to purchase it and as he rung me up he said its $625 and im like shocked i said why so much you told me $550 on the phone? He replies its with taxes and i said no thank you and walk out. As i leave he ask me ,how much do you have on you? Ill do it for 600$. Never again doing business with this man.

2020-08-04Walked in and the owner kept me waiting while he is on the phone for 10 minutes. Tried charging nearly $30 for a simple tube repair. I always buy the same brand of tubes that cost me $8. He tried to swindle me by saying this is a “specialty” tube and cost $12. Plus a $15 labor fee for a tube repair that takes 5 minutes of labor. Unreasonable prices and terrible customer service

2019-04-22Sold me a beautiful bike and provided ongoing, excellent customer service. He moved all my stuff over from my old bike (phone holder, bottle holder,etc) and didn’t ask for compensation. Then, spent time helping me with my son’s bike and didn’t ask for payment. I’m really happy I bought my bike there and I highly recommend this shop.
