The mall was absolutely dead. Makes me so sad to see the Bon Ton store, shoe stores and all the small clothing stores gone. Penneys was a ghost town, dont know what I,ll do if they leave, I buy almost exclusively St Johns Bay. Wish there was something to bring life back. I can always have hope.
Didnt exactly stop in the mall... We went holiday shopping at Spirit Halloween, you can enter this store from the outside, not through the mall. Which saves me from having to avoid a crowd, if there was one. They had a seriously good selection of anything and everything you could think of. Any horror fanatics in your family? This is definitely where you want to go for gift giving season. And the prices are a little too good to be true. Oh and the staff is pretty nice and helpful if needed. Ooooohhhh, if you have spooky kids who dont like animatronics, like terrified, I wouldnt suggest bringing them at all. I always avoid certain displays that I know will trigger my phobia. Lol
This mall use to be packed with stores and people.. think the owners are just waiting for someone to buy the land.. with only 2 anchor stores, JC Penny and Kohls, a few small shops in between... would love to see someone come in and spruce up parking lots, and the mall.. needs more stores...
Another mall that is slowly and sadly dying out. They have a few stores left, but walking around is almost surreal with how many empty spaces, and not very busy shops. In terms of recognizable names, they do still have a Kohls and a JCPenny, as well as a Kay Jewlers, Bath and Bodyworks, and an FYE. It looked like they also had a craft store, small arcade, pizza place, and a nail salon. The stores we went into were nice, though.
Im giving the mall a 2-star rating out of courtesy for the remaining few stores. I went in not sure what stores were in the mall, but expecting to be able to access Kohls and JCP. Not sure why (possibly COVID), but both store entrances were closed from the mall side, which was frustrating. A sign at the entrance would have been helpful.
Still have some good stores within the mall, less now than there used to be, but its still a good place to shop under one roof. Mall is and has always been really clean and has a good shopping atmosphere in each store that you walk into. In my opinion, it needs more stores with reasonable prices and more choices for things that you need for the home and personal items for the whole family. You can still get jewelry, shoes and household items there, but youll find yourself going from end of the mall to the other to find & get all those things.
Ive lived in the area for 15 years and this mall is terrible. There is nothing left inside of it, the parking lot looks like Iraq after we bombed it, and it consists of maybe 3 nice stores. Its never been renovated and it shows. Its not really a mall but a collection of 3 stores stuck together by some plaster and tile. Worst mall Ive ever been in.
Ive shopped this mall for over 35 years. Its been huge and successful; in later years it began to shrink as all malls have in our country. In recent years it has begun to grow again. It is clean and comfortable. There is a well lit, large, free parking lot, public restrooms, benches placed throughout the common areas.
This place has become a vacant shell of its former glory in the 90s. Over half the stores are closed down and it is very dated and dingy. The mall bathrooms were disgusting. The existing stores are decent as long as the 2 places to buy food...although the pizza at rennas is overpriced and nowhere near as good as it used to be.
I miss the old Olean center Mall. I miss the ponderosa, the cinema, the dirty dog House, McDonalds, Baskin and Robbins. I miss the days when they used to have all these vendors during Christmas season.I wish that whoever owns the mall would invest some money into it and fix it up clean it up modernize it. I guess the mall took away all the businesses in town and then Walmart came and took all the business from the mall. I guess thats just the world of business that we live in 😪
First things first; count the store fronts. More are dark and empty than lit and occupied. Im not convinced The Mall at the Center of it All isnt a front for something else. Dont use the bathroom here. That being said, it is still a mall in Olean, and you can find most of what you could expect here. Just not a busy mall atmosphere.
I felt the fashion was out of date. Its okay if you are very elderly. I talk to younger customers than myself. None of us bought any thing. Only the very old came out with bags. Yes, They got nice childrens clothes. Who wants to pay a 100.00 dollars for pants that look like they should thrown out. Some the colors were awful. I really try to find clothes. I walked out empty handed.Nothing for business professional to ware.
It used to be great, but after there were more empty storefronts than open ones and Bon Ton left, the mall is like a ghost town, and a dead mall. My favorite store left a last year, hallmark closed this year, subway closed a few years ago, and JC Penny is probably going to have to close in a few years. The only saving grace anymore is Spirit Halloween in the fall, and Auntie Annes Pretzels.
This Mall has seen better days, yes its got a couple cool anchor stores such as Kohls and JCPenneys but aside from that its barren for much else. One place to eat just doesnt cut it when youre shopping for a while but again theres not much there to have an extended shopping outing.
Its definately not what it used to be. For a quick stop a d walk through it is fine. Rennas pizza is pretty good. The mall itself has easy parking and is in a great location. Make sure you use the restroom BEFORE going to the mall. You most definately will not want to use theirs.
I can remember when the Olean mall was thriving. Unfortunately there is an unnamed Super Center that opened and drove most businesses right out including many of the businesses at the Olean Center Mall. It makes me feel sad for me to give it a 3-star rating when 10 years ago I would have given at 5.
The place is falling apart. Most of the stores sit empty and the main hall look poorly maintained. The public restrooms there are absolutely atrocious. Top it off with only two food options and one of them is a pretzel joint. The only reason this mall still exists is because it is the only mall in the area. Poor management or some serious bad luck has caused this old booming mall in what was once known as little Chicago to fall into utter disrepair and disrepute.
Pretty run down most stores have left water fall dosnt work any more bathrooms are a reck lotsnof stuff is over priced but thats to be expected with mall rates they need a major overhaul even the wallpaper in the skylights peeling what happened to the thriving Mall from when I was a child
I remember this Mall when it had a KB TOYS, and a Pet STORE in it. Now more stores are closed than open. The bathroom smells horrible...and OLEANS POLITICIANS care more about aesthetics than generating lasting revenue. And YET, they honestly believe that they are, WINNING OLEAN BACK? WHERE? Homeless is rampant...yet you tear down homes that could be easier renovated. You would rather get rid of drug addicts instead of the DRUG DEALERS. YOU CATER TO THE RICH FAMILIES THAT OWN MOST OF THIS ONCE BEAUTIFUL CITY. I WISH THAT I COULD RUN FOR MAYOR...I KNOW THAT I COULD DO A BETTER JOB, BECAUSE I ACTUALLY LOVE THIS CITY I WAS BORN IN. NOT THE RICH FEW WHO DESTROYED IT.

2022-03-15Olean Center Mall has really gone down hill over the years! Its so sad because when I was growing up it was a very nice Mall! Now theres hardly anything there anymore! I pretty much just go to Kohls or JCPenney and that is it. We could really use a nice mall in this area.

2022-04-11This mall bites. Barely any stores inside, huge drag considering I couldnt find any others nearby and we were looking for a spot for our 1 year old to stretch out and maybe shop.. we got the stretching, but the shopping is extremely lacking. I grabbed a few things from BBW but wasnt interested in the other 3 stores that were open. There were maybe 5 more stores, not open with signs stating very limited hours.

2022-04-04The mall itself is getting run down ! Some of the stores in the mall are good ones . Jc Penny was having a great sale and I was able to get my husband 3 outfits for around $50.00 and he is a big guy and usually we cant find his size so was happy about that ! But if your looking for a big mall experience this isnt the place for you unfortunately its seen better days !

2022-02-06A mall has to have more than 5 stores. This place was loaded with things to do 30 years ago. Slowly died over the years. Great place to go however if you want to watch a bunch of kids fighting.

2022-05-28Its still there, holding on. Todays trip there was the first time in about 5 years, stopped in J.C. Pennys for some clothing, good experience, no complaints.Of course Penneys is where Hills used to be, and well if you remember them you know what I mean. Looked like Rennas pizza was still going. The parking lot was rough, I did see a EV charging station near Kohls ( which I remember was Pennys at one time). Didnt go in any other stores.I like the roundabouts to get in and out of that part of town, they work well.

2022-06-12It could be o.k. by that I mean more businesses and well maybe fix the parking lot. But with so few stores left in there why would they bother. I am afraid that the internet is taking over for shopping. The malls, except maybe very large ones, are probably not gonna last. Maybe a Best Buy or Target could save it!

2022-06-22Despite the emptiness of the mall. It still has a lot to offer. Name brand stores such as JCPenny, Kay Jelwers, Bath and Body works, F.y.e, Clairs, Renas Pizza, and Kohls.A great place to mall walk, shop and hang out on a cold or rainy day :)

2022-03-22Went to JcPenny in the Olean Mall and bought 2 pairs of Champion brand shorts and a pair of Champion pants all on discount for a total of $64. Im a big boy so the big & tall section is my favorite place to get good quality and good brand clothing in big sizes. Very satisfied with the prices. They actually had a lot of clearance racks in the big & tall section. Five Stars all day long JcPenny! Thanks for the deals. Keep it up! ☝💯♥

2022-05-06Could be a nice mall. But we all know that many of these small malls are out of favor. But the JC Penny is good and Kohls. Also a great pizza shop.
