Honestly not worth the time or money until they improve their rooms, puzzles, and overall quality. Some of the “High tech” puzzles didn’t work, so we ended up just getting frustrated and wasting our time. Not great quality overall, and the nonsensical clues were only appropriate for 2-3 people to work on at a time. Any more than that and you’re all talking over each other or the rest of you are just standing there. Not much team work. Some people may enjoy it, but I personally was pretty disappointed. They do however have good customer service, and that’s better than other escape rooms.
We chose this location for a group event from my college. It wasnt my first time doing an escape room, but for many others in my group, it was. Due to the size of our group, we ended up doing the hardest room, The Penitentiary. I was impressed by the level of difficulty of the room. The puzzles were elaborate but made sense. OMEscape really does provide a high-tech escape room experience. While we didnt make it out in time, our group was very close in doing so and we had fun. I would recommend this location for anyone looking for an escape room in NYC.
We took some friends who were visiting New York for their first time escape room. It was 8 of us and we all had a great time. We did the prison escape. We finished the challenge with only 1 minute left on the clock. All staff there at OMEscape are nice and friendly. I would recommend this place for first time escape room players.
The OMEscape room was the best escape room Ive been to. It made me and my team really work together and we all had a great time figuring out the puzzles. The hints and clues were really thought out well and the technology really made me feel as though I was on a real mission. I highly recommend for a really great team bonding experience.
I had a great time in their new Biohazard escape room. It was a really fun puzzle that was just challenging enough for my group. The room decor was great and brought the experience to life. I definitely recommend this escape room to anybody looking for a fun and intellectually-stimulating day.
We booked a game but couldnt go because of the shutdown in NYC. We asked for a refund, they said yes. We are waiting for months now! They completly stopped to answer to our emails. I understand that they have been hit by the pandemic but we have been hit too. Be careful if you booked a game!!!
I enjoyed more than the popular brands in the city. One of the most fun times I’ve ever had. Interesting puzzles, immersive environment, and helpful, engaging staff. Whole experience went smoothly. Loved the multi-room puzzles which gave you a sense of accomplishment as you moved forward, and the walkie talkie system for communicating to staff during the puzzle.
Its one of the best escape rooms Ive ever been to. The puzzle we played in a group of 3 was a Sewer rescue mission. The puzzles difficulty level was medium. The level of excitement keeps on increasing at every door. We couldnt complete the puzzle as the last one was quite difficult but a $100 for 3 guys to solve the escape for 70 mins is worth it! In my next trip to NYC will definitely visit them again to solve the other puzzles!
Laboratory of Biohazard. We attempted the room with just two people and I highly recommend at least 4. Great staff and unique puzzles. Its a pretty tough room for a newbie and myself (this was my third room at this point, since the writing of this review Ive now done 43 escape rooms). We did not escape, but we had a great time.We were given 70 minutes to solve the room and I was impressed with the technology and production value. If I ever get a chance, Ill be back for their other rooms (I was just visiting NYC.)
Thematic and immersive puzzles with cool props! I did the Laboratory escape room with one other person. We were sent into the basement where the escape room was set up. First of all, everything feels very immersive from the mission briefing to the lighting (or lack thereof). The props felt realistic and everything worked smoothly (no technical difficulties that we had to radio back the GM about). Highly recommend! Walked out of there feeling larger than life.
As someone who has done escape rooms on several continents, Id say this is one of the good ones. The clues were clever (but not too abstract), the puzzles werent just based on locks (I think there was one actual lock in the room we did). There were some issues with some of the devices but the game master was constantly watching us and in contact. They came right in and fixed the issue and gave us more time. Id probably come back and try a different room if I had more time in NYC.
I played the Lab of Hazards with my friends, I have played a lot of room escape games, and this was BY FAR the bests one yet. Awesome story line, challenging puzzles, great game room layouts all in one place! Will come back for other two games. If you are looking for something to do with your friends, I would definitely recommend this place!
Do NOT waste your money! Garbage room.My family and I have done over 15 escape rooms in varying cities (NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Omaha, etc). This was by far one of the worst we’ve ever been to. My 12 year old cousin who LOVES escape rooms and is incredibly good at them actually sat down midway, out of boredom.1. Multiple things were not set up correctly. One of our locks was already opened, another activity was already completed for us, and when their tech kept failing the guy would just yell at us over the radio like we were doing something wrong. When I told him some of the activities were already done he just shrugged and blamed it on whoever set up the room. What the heck are we paying for if not to solve the puzzles?!His response was, “Did you have fun though? Let’s take a photo by our logo.” Ugh. 🙄2. Our game master (same guy in #1) was super impatient. He kept giving us clues without us asking, if we went even 3 mins without getting something - dude, chill. Part of the fun is seeing a countdown clock and knowing you need to work together to think outside the box...but (2b) there was no clock. He barely let us work with our own team before he was shouting directions and next steps. That’s not how this should go. We were done in 25 mins...a solid room experience is 45-55 mins with minimal help, only when asked for or much needed.3. The whole thing was cheaply tossed together. There wasn’t even a place for our coats - they had us toss them on some boxes and equipment in the basement...unprofessional.
We came here last Sunday for the birthday of 2 friends. We played the prison break game which all of us were prisoners and started from 3 different cells. After solving several mechanical locks and puzzles, we successfully meet each other and finished the rest of part together in 68 mins. The game is challenging but very delicate, I like the part everything you need is on the table, what you need is just thinking instead of keep searching a lot of non-sense stuffs in the room. As advertised, the room is equipped with a lot of hi-tech puzzles and machines which I never seen at any other places. We cant stop talking about crossing the laser (like mission impossible) during the dinner :J
I went there with my girlfriend in the beginning of December. We wanted to try a room for a couple, so we landed on the Biohazard room. Not trying to spoil the the puzzle but the room was dimly lit and we had trouble seeing everything. Our second room clearly needed a light source but the man never said that we could use our flashlight on our phones (some places stop the whole game, considering that cheating) We lost with a bit to go and the man was going over the whole game, and suddenly he was like: Well why didnt you use your flashlight? We stared at him in complete awe. We struggled with our poor eyesights in dark rooms because someone forgot to equip our room with a flashlight. I dont recommend this place to anyone!
Thought this location was definitely overrated. Ive been to OMEscapes in other cities and Im a huge fan of them. Their use of technology and tricks is normally great.Came in to this location on a Saturday evening and was very disappointed. I paid $38 for the mission which is much more than Ive paid for OMEscape in other cities (but I do understand its NYC so itll be more expensive). The rooms however were not as electronically cool as others Ive been in (trap doors or sliding bookshelves) and there were things missing / broken in the rooms themselves. That as well as the clues were so poorly written. The English was terrible!I would not come back to this location.
Wonderful place to hang out with group friends! I tried the hardest prison theme room today, it was super fun and super challenging! We couldnt escape it at the end even we had 12 ppl in that room, so if you are smart, I highly recommend that you should go to play this game and prove yourself!!
Awesome time at OMescape. I booked as a solo player and was linked up with a pre-existing group for the Penitentiary game. Super hard! I liked that it could fit up to twelve players which is pretty unusual.Game masters were great and I had such a fun time. I would recommend!
A group of 11 of us went to OMEscape for my birthday this past sunday. We were running late because of traffic but the person handling our game, Mehdi, patiently waited until we all arrived. This was definitely tons of fun and he made the whole experience very enjoyable for us!!!!I will definitely be returning!
I wasnt very happy with my experience here. It ended up costing more than most places I saw, and the rooms were pretty janky. The cells werent even closed off on the top, so you could easily hear everyone else without the walkie talkie. Lots of the props seemed pretty poorly made too.
I did the Penitentiary escape room with a group of coworkers (12 of us total). Overall good experience, but Id say that the professionalism and general quality of the room logistics, as well as communication by the clue master person were a little below par compared to other rooms Ive been to in the city.
My friends and I played laboratory of biohazard, and it was far the best room escape game Ive ever played! I had to work together with my friends to solve the puzzles, and I enjoyed it a lot. If you live in New York, you should definitely try out the games here. It was a new experience for me, and Ill definitely come back with my friends to play other games. Guaranteed that the place is the best among other escape room games in nyc.
We just finished the Room X - our 3rd game today, now we have played all the games of OMEscape. The Penitentiary is my favorite game, this is the biggest and best game I have ever played in the city. The technology is extremely impressive, we are all engaged when the lasers was on. Strongly recommended.
I play a lot of escape games. This one should be avoided by those who have played more than a few games. They tout themselves as the high tech escape room, but they really should focus on story line and common sense. My son and I were paired with a group of over caffeinated first time high schoolers, but thats not Omescapes fault. The game design is though. We played their Laboratory of Biohazard. There were so many problems in this place:1) operator: he must have been new. His intro was a bored narrative of the story line while not making eye contact with our group. He wasnt immediately available for hints, and often times his hints would cut out because he let go of the PTT button too early forcing us to ask him to repeat himself (3-4 times). At least twice he didnt respond. When we got out, no one was there to greet us at the finish. Our teammates had to radio are we done? to which an answer of someone will come down to meet you. No picture was taken either.. Horrible operations, maybe spend more $ on people and training and not just tech.2) It was DARK. We had only ONE anemic large camping type flashlight which seemed to be running on low batteries. This made hunting for clues almost useless as only one person has the light and 6 others standing around doing nothing. The water knobs werent labeled with more than a sharpie on the red knob and many of them were rubbed off with a lot of use. The PVC pipes that were painted black had been rubbed off so the 2 symbol was visible misleading us/red herring. Maintenance here would go a long way.3) clues-not all of them were logical. It seemed that they took various tech challenges and just threw them in to make it fit the game. Our team got distracted by the manufacturing numbers and marks on the sump tank. It all seemed kind of hodge podged together. The directional challenge had to be guessed which card went first and then which next which potentially causes a problem with the 5 mistake limit. There are items there that are red herrings but are questionable in their correlation to the game. ie..pyramid. And wait until you hit the very typical clock/time question. I wont spoil it but the whole challenge will leave more experience players scratching their head on why youd have algebra and time comingled.4) maintenance of games-fake props were almost all broken open on the bookshelf, (previously mentioned painted pvc pipes). The piece of paper with the number challenge (in sewers) had smudges on it that obscured the instruction.Suggestions to owners: Give the teams more than one light source. Better operator training, and tweak the game and props to actually fit the game. This was one of the most expensive games played in NYC and it was really sub par. Those interested in good tech and a great story line that made sense, try Exit Escape down the road, we played that one a few hours before coming to Omescape. (in fact, we liked exit escape enough to go back 2 days later to play their mission game-which was awesome)
Ive never done an escape room before and we did the Time Travel one which was interesting. We were split into 2 teams ... Its a bit confusing as you literally start off in a room and theres a binder that gives no directions. We spent 45 minutes getting hint after hint trying to unlock stuff and eventually getting to the 2nd room. The other team got to the final room while we were stuck.
We went there at 11:45 nobody was there or answering the phone. Two hours later we get a call they said to come back at 2:30 then we arrived there and they told us to come back at 5 and then they cancel us and told us to wait 10 days and now it’s been a month without a refund It’s a scam

2019-02-04I had my 13th birthday here with a party of 11. 6 people went in the escape room and the others stayed in the gaming area. This place was very cool, funny, and surprising all at the same time. Me, my friends, and family had a wonderful time. Once we solved a riddle it was so exhilarating. I would recommend this for ages of 10+. Though the place could have better decoration and choices for the escape rooms.

2017-02-15I had a blast even though we didnt make it out. Its good way to see how observant you are and how good you are at solving puzzles. I would love to do it again with a larger group of friends. (My friends paid a extra to have a private experience...it was only 3 of us).I would recommend this place.

2020-10-10Decent escape rooms, nothing special though. They are fun and creative enough. The staff was great and very accommodating. The Laser maze was really cool, the sudoku puzzle was not. Hoping they reopen eventually, worth the money

2019-04-29One of the best room escapes Ive been to.We did their Laboratory of Biohazard room and found it delightful. The scenic elements were well crafted and it is the first room Ive ever been in with an actual water feature. The puzzles are intuitive and it was definitely one of their easiest rooms but we still had a blast figuring it out. Also, one of our group members with a food allergy started exhibiting symptoms of an allergy attack a few minutes after we finished the room. The staff was courteous, polite, and very helpful. They treated us with sensitivity and care. One of their desk attendants even brought her a bottle of water and refused to take any payment for it because he just wanted to make sure she was okay. Definitely the best part of the experience was the service. Thanks everyone! We really had a great time!

2018-11-24It was nice to have multiple rooms to have to get through. Some of the puzzles were pretty good, challenging and made sense. Other puzzles did not make sense and a clue was needed to understand what was needed. The management was flexible with us to have 6 adults and 1 eight year old. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It would have been nice to have a clock in the rooms telling us the remaining time but maybe this was difficult to accomplish with having multiple rooms. Also having the walkie talkie was different than what we have done in the past where we could just talk out loud to the staff... but again maybe this was difficult to accomplish with having multiple rooms. Overall we had a good time!

2018-03-17I have to say this escape room has the best decoration/props in NYC!! other escape rooms are not even close when it comes to theme, story line and flow. Also, great and convenient location, A few blocks away from Time Square.I tried the penitentiary with 6 of my friends who were visiting the city, it was so much fun!! highly recommend this Game! We all wowed when we saw the green laser. The whole process took an hour, and we were so close to beating the game. We were talking about how we could do better the whole night, it was definitely the best group activity weve done for a while. The game master was super nice and professional, kept us informed, and made the game flow so well. Overall it was an exceptional experience. We also want to try bio hazard, but we are a bigger group. Ill definitely bring other friends to try other themes next time.

2017-12-19Very tough. Maybe I had a challenging room. Make sure to go with some college grads or people who think out of the box. Very friendly people who worked there.
