Travis came for our estimate right when he said he would. He was knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted. His quote was very reasonable and he came out to do the work exactly when he said. Travis and his crew are professional and hardworking. Over the years we have had quite a few crews over to do various things at our house. The professionalism shown by On a Limb Tree Care is above and beyond, and I highly recommend them. They cut down 13 Pine trees for us. I had intended to watch for entertainment but by the time I started to pay attention they were almost done!!

We hired Travis and his team to trim some trees in our backyard and remove a linden tree and stump removal in our front yard, he was very professional offering his opinion and ideas in our changing landscape. His price was great and his team was able to complete the work in a few short hours with no damage to our grass and the cleanup was phenomenal. This was hands down the best experience I have had to date hiring a contractor. From the time that I first spoke to Travis (owner) until the moment the job was complete he was professional, courteous, and very responsive. The three man team showed up at 8am and by 4pm they were leaving after removing 4 very large trees and dead-wooding two others. This was no easy project, all of the trees were surrounded by obstacles - a very large garden, garden shed, deck, glass sunroom, and fence. Not one item was out of place when they were done. In fact, the yard was cleaner than when they arrived. All of this for an incredibly reasonable price (between 10-14% lower than my other two estimates). To watch them remove limbs that were expertly suspended by ropes and swing them back into the open space so they caused no damage was impressive. I would refer Travis and his team to anyone who asked. Thanks again, and rest assured you are making a great choice hiring this team.
Selected On a Limb to trim several very large trees around our recently-purchased home. Communication was excellent, calls were returned promptly and appointments were confirmed in advance. Quality of work was high, and the crew was flexible when we asked to include some extra work in the job. We will absolutely hire Travis and his team for future tree care projects.

Today I had a wonderful experience with the work I had Travis and his crew do for me. They were professional, efficient and very knowledgable in tree care and how to properly trim trees without harming them. I also had numerous stumps ground down and that was amazing to watch. The wind blew a big spruce tree into my driveway the evening of March 1. The man from On a Limb came by the next day to assess and give an estimate. He brought his equipment the following day, and in about two hours, had everything cleared away and cleaned up.I would highly recommend On a Limb if you need a reliable, excellent tree service provider.
Having just thanked Travis and his team for removing 8 very large, very old trees from my property, I can honestly say this was a great experience! Travis and his team are true gentlemen and work long, tough hours efficiently. They had to drop some very tall trees between narrow areas and did so with such precision that I was not at all concerned. After all the trees were felled, they did a meticulous job of cleaning up as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend On A Limb Tree Service!
On a Limb did a fantastic job with a large job at my home. They were excellent with communication and thoughtful with where they dropped limbs, with clean up, and with neighbors. Prices were very reasonable. Great communication through the whole process via the web form / text / email. Appreciated the professional opinion during the estimate process - we definitely want to keep our trees if possible and Travis recommended pruning where needed and shrub / small tree removal where there wasnt much left to save in our overgrown 1960s landscaping. We recently had storm damage to our very old and large silver maple tree in our yard that fortunately fell into the yard and did not damage our house. A friend of mine recommended Travis and his team and we couldnt be more pleased. As Travis is a trained arborist, he was able to let me know that I wouldnt have to take the whole tree down, it was healthy, and we only needed to cut back the broken branch and place a support cable on another tree limb to prevent another large limb from damaging our house potentially during another storm. We were impressed by his knowledge of tree growth/repair and he was very reasonably priced. We highly recommend On a Limb Tree Care.
Travis and his crew from On A Limb Tree Care took care of a large dead tree on my property that needed to be safely taken down. After one phone call, Travis visited the site, and sent me an estimate via email that evening. The tree was in a tricky location near my neighbors house and my fence and my pool. They made it look so easy, but thats because they truly are experts of the craft. They know how to do the job right. Travis was THE ONLY tree service company that even returned my phone call! We spoke on a Tuesday, he came by that same Saturday and gave me an estimate. Set up a service date via email and followed through with his commitments. He was very professional. Just a side note... I needed a tree that was growing towards my house trimmed/pruned. Not a big job... which is why I dont think anyone responded to me in the first place! Travis told me he actually liked the smaller pruning jobs! I would recommend On a Limb Tree Service.

One of the best efficient crews Ive seen working together in a long time. I cant say enough how good On The Limb Tree Care did their job. I was very please with the work Travis and his assistance did on my property. Travis looked very comfortable up in the trees and I could tell he was very conscious about how the trees would fall. On a Limb Tree Service did a great job. They removed 5 trees from my property. 3 were right next to my house. They did a great job, removed the wood and stumps. They cleaned up everything when they were done and left the property the way they found it. Great job guys, and on one of the hottest days of the summer!
I was given a quote and a date to get my arborvitaes pruned. Travis did not show up on the date he provided. In addition to not showing up, there was no communication. No call, text, or email. Did not respond to any calls or emails that day.Weeks later I finally received an email from Travis stating he would show up on another date. Did not show up once again on that date. Did not call, email, or text after not showing up.Completely unprofessional. Zero customer service. Would not recommend to anyone.
We were looking for a trained arborist who would know how to prune to train growth to fill holes in a tree canopy, stop a tree from growing towards the house and alleviate crossing branches -- all whilst maintaining a natural look. Travis took the time to understand what we wanted to accomplish and has done a fantastic job pruning four trees. Travis crew also removed two overgrown shrubs and the clean up was so thorough that its hard to tell that those shrubs ever existed. We will be using On A Limb Tree Care for all our future tree work and unreservedly recommend this company.
We are extremely pleased with their professional tree removal service. Our tree had to be dropped in a specific place and Travis dropped it exactly where he said it must go. They were quick and very efficient. Considering, how tall and thick our tree was we expected the tree removal to take all day and they removed it in just a few hours. I would absolutely recommend them. They know their business and they use some of the most advanced tools for tree removal.
I first contacted On a Limb several weeks ago to remove shrubs, brush and small trees to prepare for new landscaping in the spring. The initial quote was VERY reasonable. We hired On A Limb Tree Care to remove about a dozen trees from our front yard, including a 70ft pine tree that was obscuring the house and starving us of daylight. They did an excellent job, exactly on time, to spec and with professionalism. Were looking forward to having them back in the future to work on the back yard!
We have an enclosed back yard which has a lot of trees and had a large Fir tree with a co-dominant stem (2 trunks) that was dying or dead and in danger of falling on our house. Also we had another 2 trees which were hanging over our neighbors property and dumping fall leaves in their pool area. Travis and his crew came out and did a great job removing 2 of the trees trimming back one and trimming some other trees back on the other side of our property that was too close to our house. They were super efficient and worked the whole time (all with climbing and cutting, no cherry picker). They were here and got the job done quickly and cleaned up afterwards. Also, the bill was exactly the same as the estimate Travis had given me.We were very pleased with their work! Would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a tree service.

Had On a Limb come and take down some brush and several small trees, one large one and, trim one growing over my roof. The the estimate and getting on the schedule was easy and with no unexpected delays. Removing trees in a city environment is not easy and Travis and the On a Limb team were very careful of neighbors properties and cleaned up all leaves and stray branches. I would recommend Travis and On a Limb to all.
Travis and his crew did a fantastic job. We have a massive white pine that was taking over our yard with low hanging branches that didn’t allow for any sunlight to get through, causing our yard to be a sea of pine needles. He helped us decide to trim the tree up 25- 30 feet to allow us to grow a lush lawn of grass and a garden. Grass is in and garden is planned for next spring. As far as him and his crew, they were on time, fast, efficient, and very clean. We were amazed at what a great job they did. Highly recommend, but must be willing to be patient for your appointment. Must book in advance.

I had a large silver maple tree that extended into my neighbors side reaching over to her roof. I had several estimates over a 9 year period but was not trustworthy of the people I was dealing with. The house we purchased had a 100 yr old sugar maple that had been neglected for many years. It was our main priority to ensure it will live for another 100 years. Travis took the time to explain the pruning work and removal of dead branches that needed to be done. He was very respectful of our low intervention perspective. He is the only tree service that has trees as its main focus. He also gave us tips on providing nutrients using organic and sustainable methods. Had a tree is a difficult spot that I needed removed in order to complete the replacement of a sewer line. Had several quotes to take the tree down and quite a few people that didnt bother to call back. Travis was able to meet me the night before, gave me a very competitive price and was there the following morning on time to have the tree taken down. Would hands down recommend him for tree removal in the capital district.
Horrible experience... I received a quote in July. The work was supposed to be completed in August. I received an email indicating there would be a delay of 1 week. After 2 weeks I reached out to on a limb. They rescheduled the work in September. They showed up on the scheduled day and I got a knock on my door. Travis indicated they would have to come back because he did not have the right parts. Another week or so passed so I reached out again. They rescheduled again... on the next scheduled day I received an email indicating their equipment broke but they would be over that week. That week came and went and they did not show up or contact me. I finally asked them to cancel my job.

Made an appointment for a quote and he never followed through with a visit, didnt let me know he did not come until after I asked when I had been waiting 5 days for a quote. Didnt bother contacting me to reschedule until after I reached out. If youre too busy for a small job just let me know up front and dont leave me hanging :(

2022-06-18This is the second time (other review is also listed) Travis has come to help us move forward creating a great yard for our family. He removed a lot more trees and underbrush so we could expand our yard to add a playground for our growing family. He works extremely efficiently and clearly takes pride in his work went above and beyond cleaning up the site. Also, he has a lot of awesome equipment that is fun to watch in action for kids and adults alike. We plan to work on our side yard next and when we do, Travis is hands down the only choice to do the work.

2022-01-01Really glad we went with Travis to remove a bunch of trees and grind the stumps. He came and gave an estimate and locked in a time frame for the work to begin. The estimate was well detailed and he beat all the otuer quotes on price. When it came time for the work to be done, he showed up with one other person and they went to work. They were truly fascinating to watch. In a day and a half all the trees were down, all the stumps were ground and they did a good job cleaning up. After they left, Two of my neighbors asked for his number because of how impressive his work was. We have plans to take down another section of trees in the future and I will definitely be calling him again.

2022-06-06Never showed up for estimate....or did and didnt bother texting or emailing as I am Hard of Hearing.Then claimed tree was hard to get to.Huge open yard, literally no buildings around it at all.... In my opinion, everyone should avoid this company.

Ive worked with a few different tree removal & trimming providers over the years, and this was the best experience by far. 2021-04-02When Travis came to give us an estimate, I knew that he really knows trees. He understands how trees grow and work together, and best practices for tree care. He is not just a guy with a chainsaw! Travis and his crew took down four 75 foot Norway spruces out of our front yard in the middle of February. He did it safely, and the yard survived the heavy machinery, despite being the beginning of mud season. And, although his knowledge level exceeds most other tree professionals Ive talked to, his prices are very competitive. I will definitely use On a Limb Tree Care again for any arborist work that I need done in the future, and I recommend them unreservedly.

2020-10-12Ive worked with Travis for years. At my last place he cabled an old maple that I wanted to keep, but was worried about potential for damage to my home in the event of a big storm. He did a great job and the tree remains fully in tact years later. He also removed several large trees from my backyard and removed the stumps as well. He worked efficiently and made a dramatic improvement to my backyard without leaving much of a trace that he was even there. Most recently Travis came to my (very quick!) rescue at my new home/property after a large tree came down in a micro burst, damaging my roof, fence, and deck. Travis returned my call quickly and was out to assist me within 24 hours. They removed the tree, carefully extricating it from my property without doing further damage. Travis and his team are a pleasure to work with, and do a great job.

2020-09-02Travis and his crew were fantastic! we had several large trees in the backyard with limited access taken down and they arrived on time with a crane to dive into the work. Had everything done and cleaned up before lunch. Very professional, asked all the right questions regarding concerns with access, things to avoid or protect on the property with doing the work. The crew worked diligently and did a great job cleaning the entire site and street out front after their work. I highly recommend you give On a Limb Tree Care a call if you have work to be done!
