Mike, the owner is an amazing attribute to the community. Ive never been a Parton of his bar, but my motorcycle broke down right at his corner. I had nowhere to put it, and no way to get it home. Mike said it was not a problem and allowed me to keep it in the gated yard for a few days until I could get it out. I cant speak to the food or drinks, but I can speak to the quality of character of this establishments owner. He is a truly great person. We need more like him.
Went in for fish fry n a burger. Literally took forever. Over an hour for salad and onion rings. There were only two other people seated.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, great food. Cozy friendly atmosphere in a historic 1840s building.
I would have rated a bit less for service but I’m thinking getting staff is a struggle for all. Though service was very slow the staff was friendly and courteous. Food as always excellent.
Nothing fancy. Country type bar with a backroom for dining. Had the fish fry. Do not believe it was haddock, as stated. It was greasy and the Cole slaw had an odd flavor. The menu is mainly sandwiches and salads. Wish I had tried one of them.
Stopped by Sunday afternoon. Walked in & didnt get welcoming feeling or acknowledgement from bartender even though it was slow & I was standing right in front of him. Maybe because I wasnt a townie.Figured Id order food & drinks at bar to save time but he said to grab a table & hed serve us. Sat outside & he got us a menu & drinks but never saw again. Another table told us to order inside since they hadnt seen him again either.20 mins later we decided to go somewhere that wanted our business.Went in to pay for drinks & he had no clue. Didnt know what we had so I had to remind him. No apologies, no upset we were leaving. In honesty, he appeared out of it line he had been drinking all day. We ended up going elsewhere to spend our $. The menu was limited to typical bar food anyways.
My favorite bar in the world. One of the few spots left where you can get awesome food and great drinks while hanging with old pals (some might not even be old friends, but theyll feel old by the end of the night!). Get the patty melt!
Love this place. Quaint little bar. Also has a few rooms. Lots of history. Nice shuffleboard game. I came in on a Sunday and they had live music and food out back. Great place!

Just had one of the best fish fries ever. Food is great and so is the price. If you havent been there in awhile you will find that the atmosphere is still The Jug but they have added much more space and a real menu.
Old but inviting pub with delicious food. Some nice craft beer on tap and the general manager was super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!
The Ontario House aka the Stone Jug is Youngstowns longest operating business. It has been a bar, restaurant and hotel since 1842! New owners have recently taken over. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is dark (in a good way!), friendly, local. The view of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario from the front porch is outstanding.
Terrible. Expensive drinks and ordering food, had 4 bite size pieces of chicken on my girlfriend chicken wrap. Embarrassing

The Jug is a long-standing Youngstown institution. It recently changed ownership and that had many worried. Not to worry! They have retained all the stuff that made the Jug great and added things to make it even better. Food is really good. Sunday brunch...great!

This is a real dive bar. The view of the Niagara river and its outlet to lake Ontario is beautiful. The downside is the smell of stale beer and cigarettes. The interior is dark and appears not to have been cleaned in some time.
Nice place to dig in and unwind. Cant beat the porch views of the River/lake. Carve your name in the barstool baby, cuz you know its gonna be a while! Shuffleboard is free....
I have been going to this place for over 20 years, The Jersey Boys from Garfield and have NEVER been treated like this. 6 of us walked in, the bar tender seen us like 5 times and never asked us what we would like. Then he had the nerve to wave to us, and say have a good night while laughing.We have been coming up steelhead fishing since 1995, and everyone was so nice, guess after Ed sold the place off, young inconsiderate owners took over, and ruin a good thing.So sad.People think that I am from a ruid part of the county, I live in Staten Island, NY part of NYC. And if you dont have a beer in your hand in 2 min. And asked how are youthere is a problem.WE MISS YOU FAST ED !!!

Ordered takeout today, was told 30 min.... Add another twenty of waiting on top of that. Portions small and sloppy. Not happy at all. Will not be back.

Not worth the drive. A Nothing place. unfriendly , clickish. locals very unfriendly .seem like dead from the neck up. give it a wide berth. you will be missing Nothing.

2022-05-15Great out side ..tables facing the water ...cheap but good food...full bar ..backyard pavilion .and sometimes live music that I was too early to check out worth the stop..ps I ate some of the qesodillas...before the pic

2021-09-05Cool historical establishment with the old school shuffleboard and a huge courtyard in the rear with an outside bar, stage and seating for a hundred or more. Very friendly staff - Nicky was the bartender/ server / cook mid-afternoon. Beer was ice cold, and reasonably priced. Food was very good ( although they need to take the salt level down a notch) and reasonably priced as well.Kitchen service was very slow due to the fact that there was one person holding down the fort and covering the bar area, inside and outside seating front and back so understandable but not a good situation . Waited an hour for our order but we werent in a hurry so not a big deal, at least for us.Place has rooms for rent through Airbnb which we were unaware of until we noticed someone checking in. Looks like a really cool place to try .Would definitely recommend providing that you have a little time if they are at all busy and /or theres only one person working if youre looking for food. For drinks, 100%.

2021-05-30Outstanding! We visited this place after Fort Niagara. We loved it. Great food, drink and service. They have a bar menu but a pretty good one. The burgers are NOT commercial made patties, they make them on site cooked to order. They have a good drink selection with some various micro brews. Wish I got our servers name working Saturday 5/29 5pm. She was very good. This place has lots of history. Very interesting to read about. We will return soon!

2017-07-02Charming place! Very accessible from all of Youngstown. Cheap cheap drinks—my date and I got a pint and a mixed drink for $7 total, and they werent skimpy with the pour on the mixed drink. Bartender very friendly. Patio a bit narrow, but nicely decorated with a view of the water. Have not eaten here yet, but will definitely be back!

2021-06-16Local beers, great appetizers, super friendly owner willing to chat about history of the building! The upper floors are available for air bnb rentals. The history and supposed hauntings make this a charming, if eerie, space in a lovely location.

2021-10-11Looking for a place to watch your favorite sporting event, eat great food and receive excellent customer service this is the place. Heated patio with bar and large screen viewing. Spaces for casual sitting or table sitting. Chicken wings cooked to perfection. KC BBQ was the special that night. Check their site for game time specials. A place where everyone is your friend. 2021-08-14Great bartender jug is also mom patreon look him up, because i will. The whole regular crew felt like family. At first being from a different city etc, i was skeptical but needed a break from life and became family social friendly. I think i wanna visit weekly. Be sure to play all they games in the bar there are coaches who know and will help.
