Open Doors English in Ithaca
Highly recommend! I could learn not only English but also society, culture, and religion through ODE class. ODE provides various information to settle in the United States. In addition, there are many interactions with local community (city of Ithaca), so you can also get local information.
I cant imagine Ithaca without ODE.Excellent teachers, great curriculums!!They are always passionate, friendly.They are also highly understanding of culture difference so it makes us feel comfortable in ODE class.And it makes me encourage to learn speaking English even though Im not good at English.I really appreciate ODE. :)
Open Doors English is more than a school. All teachers are professional and passionate about everything they do. Besides high-quality English classes, it is a welcoming and supportive space that connects people from all over the world. I recommend this school for everyone who wants to improve or practice English, as well as build a lasting friendship.
When I came to Ithaca, I thought ODE would be only a source of learning english. But ODE is more than english classes for me. I have learned a lot about different cultures. I feel so good in this school that I can say ODE is my “therapist”. I don’t know how I could be living in Ithaca without ODE.
The teachers are really good nature and patient. They provide not only teaching but also useful informations. In other word , i feel like this place is my second home in the USA.
I love Open Doors English! I met amazing people here! I can’t go through the pandemic without ODE!

2022-05-09I truly recommend Open Doors English!I come from Switzerland and I started classes at ODE because I would like to improve my speaking skills.The staff is amazing and very professional. The teachers are faithful, passionate, and care about each individual. The classmates come from all over the world and I find it genuinely interesting because we also learn about different cultures.We learn English in many different ways: by talking with partners, listening to videos, reading articles or learning grammar and specific vocabulary. We never get bored.Because of Covid the classes are on Zoom, but ODE has adapted very well and the classes are still extremely exciting.This experience is incredible, my English is slowly but surely improving and I have gained confidence in myself.Thank you Open Doors English!

2021-06-21I am from China and have been learning English at ODE for half a year. This program is excellent!Teachers at ODE are very professional and friendly. They prepare each lesson very well and do their best to help students improve their English. Moreover, they design the classes accordingly and systematically. For example, the pronunciation class helped me figure out the complicated pronunciation rules of American English, and I am much more confident in my pronunciation now; and the preposition practice summarized many useful rules and collocations, which helped me build up a better understanding of those flexible prepositions. Actually, my English improves very quickly with the help of these great teachers. We can also meet many amicable classmates from different countries, and they all are very nice language partners. Because of these good teachers and classmates, learning English at ODE is quite inspiring and interesting.In short, I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to learn English and makes friends in the US.

2021-05-19I am French and have been living in Ithaca with my family since last September.I had an average level in English and really wanted to improve my English skills. So I discovered Open Doors English and started classes in January.What I found: A great and professional team of teachers, friendly and fun classmates from different countries and different ways of learning English either by listening to videos, talking with partners or learning the rules grammar.I also enjoyed the cooking classes.Really, I recommend ODE.

2021-06-24My experience with open doors has been amazing, my English has improved a lot since I started the program, the classes have been via zoom during the pandemic, but the teachers have managed to create a very efficient and educational system that has helped me to improve my confidence and knowledge in grammar, as in speaking and listening. The teachers are very dedicated and passionate about their work and enrich us with knowledge about American culture and history. I truly recommend it.

2021-05-20I came to Ithaca since last Oct. I want to improve my speaking, so I found the ODE online. I join the class since last Nov. At the beginning, I studied in class 3, then I improved a lot, I went to class 4, and now Im in class 5.I love the teaches, they are all kind and experienced. I can learn a lot in the class. I like to share ideas with classmates who come from other countries. I’m a Chinese, the office also offers some Chinese information in the U.S for me. In one word, ODE is a very good program in Ithaca.

2021-05-20The pandemic (Covid 19) was really bad situation for countries and people, but I like to “always look on the bright side of life” and Open Doors English was the most positive chance in my life during the pandemic. Why? Because I’m from Argentina and last July I found them.And since that time I am very happy to attend classes at Open Doors School by zoom because this is a huge opportunity to learn with native English teachers and to share with students who come from different countries. It is very interesting to learn about diverse cultures, traditions and food.The teachers are kind, friendly, patient and so professionally. The classes are fun and the topics are very interesting.I also talk to an Open Doors volunteer every week and I enjoy it and am grateful for it.

2020-02-24When I arrived in Ithaca (6 months ago) I was totally lost and my English was frozen. It is so hard to get used with different language, culture and habits. But then, I found Open Doors School. I am so glad to have met this family.ODE is much more than a school. I have improved my English skills, but I also made friends, found people that I can trust and had the opportunity to know people from different countries.Not to mention how amazing are the teachers and staff. The schools environment is very cozy. I definitely recommend ODE to everyone.

2020-01-31I came to Ithaca in order to visit my sister - the city is beautiful you can appreciate the most impressive waterfalls and go hiking in parks - you will be surrounding with waterfalls.My sister told me about The Open Doors of English for students who want to improve their English. She loves this school too. The method of school is amazing, here we could practice conversation, grammar, and listening.Although I spent a short period of time in the Ithaca my experience, in this school was fantastic. I have met interesting people, from all continents. They have the same dreams, I mean, improving their skills in English and have fun during this process.The classes with teacher Lauren are dynamic, enjoyable and the best thing she helps us all the time. Encouraging us to practice our skills. She is a fantastic person. I have felt completely comfortable with my classmates. Everybody is friendly and kind. I have no doubt that you will enjoy theses classes and learn a lot.

2020-02-18I moved to Ithaca for a few months to make a course at Cornell and discover ODE was a wonderful surprise!Attending classes at ODE it’s a great opportunity to improve English for non-native speakers and make friends while you are in town.
