Very cute spot with good views of the city. A bit on the expensive side, but it’s to be expected for a rooftop. Ophelia has a nice romantic vibe, especially during and after sunset. We caught a great rainbow last time we were there😍. Drinks and food are good.Side note - there’s no regular chairs and tables. Expect to eat sitting on comfy velvet benches and using a coffee table. There’s a few high tops too.
I went to Ophelia with my friend around 9pm to catch up and have some drinks. My favorite part about this establishment is its ambience and live music. Wouldn’t quite recommend Ophelia if what you’re looking for is a view though. (One of my personal favorite rooftop bars with a view of NYC would be Bar SixtyFive). The cocktails were good but I have had better. I ordered The Flapper and an Aperol Spritz (because my friend is obsessed with aperol 😂).
One of the highlights of our NY trip! 26th floor with beautiful views. The bar is in the center with the seating all around the outside. Some is inside and some is out. We had a corner, inside, windows everywhere so our view was 270 degrees! Everything we ate was delicious! The drinks also were superb. The smoky drink pictured (and I tried for a video) was Ophelias Ascension and it involves a stoppered bottle of smoked Jamaican Pepper Infused Mezcal that is poured at the table. YES! For food DO NOT miss the French Onion Sliders, Steak Tartare (unless you pile on the tartare with the included baguette ask for more baguette!), and Mushroom Truffle Ravioli. These will live in my dreams .... Oh! The service was also exceptional!
Not much good to say. They didnt honor our reservation for an outdoor table, made several days in advance, nor did they email ahead of time to say that they needed the patio for a private party. Service was good from the wait staff, but the manager and greeter had to be asked to give us more than one drink menu for a party of four (?). They sat us with the warning that there is a two hour limit on tables. Wow what a welcoming gesture for your customers. Overpriced and tacky overall.
Jennifer the hostess blew my mind with her kindness. She seated me in the perfect spot, what a wonderful and professional employee. If it were up to me, Id give Jennifer a raise. Its the little things at an establishment that separate it from the pack. Ophelia Lounge does just that with its ambience and careful hostesses and waitstaff.Great views, too! Highly recommend this lounge!
Drinks were good but the hostess and staff made the experience far from enjoyable. We walked in on Friday night and weren’t greeted so found a table (no reserved sign). A waitress walked up and told us that the hostess needed to speak to us- when I went over the blond hostess in a black fur outfit told me we couldn’t be seated. She was incredibly rude and didn’t offer any solutions and made it seem like we were beneath her. The hospitality was really lacking and it wouldn’t have been an issue but her demeanor made us feel incredibly awkward and uncomfortable.
After the mandatory COVID screening (vaccination record and ID) youll go up to the 26th floor where the elevator opens directly into the Lounge. Very stylish looking bar, with fantastic views all around. Good selection of cocktails (16-22 USD). Unfortunately we had to wait 30 mins for ours. The waiter proactively informed us that the drinks were not forgotten, but still the wait was quite long.
Was very excited to visit this place came with my husband on Saturday night. Bar was crowded, was told by host that we have table for 2 hours. View is really spectacular. We ordered drinks and some appetizers, which took more than 30 minutes to be delivered after we ordered another round of drinks, which also took another 30 minutes and right after that the waitress just came and put a check on the table, we payed and was still finishing up our drinks when the manager came and asked us to leave, which was an hour and 40 minutes of our stay there. Very unpleasant experience.
Love! Don’t pay $40 to go to a top of a building for the views. Instead go to Ophelia for magical views, delicious strong cocktails, and a ambiance that transform your mood into romantic bliss. This place is perfect for so many occasions. It is definitely an unforgettable experience here. The Lower East Side was the perfect drink for someone who likes their drink a little sweet btw.
This place is amazing! Food was delicious, drinks were tasty, athe DJ was jamming, and the view is nice at night. I love the adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols, makes me feel safe and eases my Covid anxiety. Great date night or super chill place to go. Def recommend having a reservation! Will come back.
This place is way overrated. Drinks were 5/10 and food was also average. We had area reserved, it was 7-8 of us. After 2 hrs there we were asked to leave because there are other people waiting on the table. We still has some food and drinks left because we ordered a lot. What upsets me the most was the lounge area we were put it had some cracks in the wall and paint chipping, which I was not expecting at all for a place with 5 star reviews and $$$ sign.Never coming back again.
Overpriced bar with nice views and decent yet pricey ($16-20) cocktails which is about what you’d expect in Manhattan. Food is good but expensive ($20 for 5 rolls of prosciutto and half burnt bread). All that was fine because we’d expected it to be expensive but we weren’t wowed at all.Two stars because the seating and set up for half the tables by the windows are awful. If you’re lucky to get a cushy booth with comfy seating, great. Our reserved table was accidentally given away when my date got up to greet me, so we were relocated to another spot looking out the window but the seats were awful. Basically tree-stumped shape, short metal stools... so strange for seating choices, I couldn’t believe they were seats. They looked like somewhere to set your drink on. After an hour, we had to leave because we couldn’t sit there any longer.Bottom line: Overall, not worth the hype. Pick another rooftop bar.
EPIC FAIL! Ruined my Birthday Celebration because, unbenounced to us, Last Call for food and alcohol is at 10 pm. We were seated Late at 9:45 pm, for our 9:30 pm reservation. Happy Birthday to me...2 fancy still waters for $15 + tip, and a Bye-e then. Most staff are disrespectful and rude. I guess they forgot theyre not the only rooftop lounge with a 5 Star Menu in All of Manhattan!! If you read my other reviews, they are usually glowing. if you so choose, you can read our 1 Star experience below.THE IDEA. My husband wanted me to have a romantic birthday celebration. He wanted to take me someplace with a romantic vibe, fabulous views, fun cocktails, and delicious food.THE PLAN. We are staying at The Beekman Tower, and pass the Ophelia check in, with its dedicated elevator, every night I work. Ophelias website says A cocktail lounge at the top of The Beekman Tower. 360° Greenhouse Terrace. Manhattan Views. 5 Star Menu. It had all the ingredients for a romantic birthday celebration. Our reservation was on Wednesday, 6/2/21 @ 9:30 pm. Im a Travel RN, working overtime on night shift, every week. So, on my few nights off, I do not flip to days. Being able to make a late night dinner reservation, some place other than a diner, is Gold! THE EVENT. We checked in a few minutes early for our 9:30 pm reservation. We were told to sit in The Beekman Lobby, as there was another party in front of us. Then there was a misunderstanding, and they thought we didnt have a reservation, so they told us we would only be able to sit at the bar. I became upset, and told the Host, that was unacceptable. The Host gave me a very dismissive, Bye-e then, and proceeded to take another person up in the Ophelia elevator, who didnt have a reservation and arrived after us. Left in The Beekman lobby, the guy at the check in desk said Sorry, maybe next time make a reservation. We showed him our reservation confirmation, and were back on track...or so we thought. We were finally seated at 9:45 pm. Shortly after, a server asked us if we wanted sparkling, still, or tap water. We ordered still. The vibe is romantic and dark. While waiting for our still water, I started taking photos of the fabulous view, and vibe (because I enjoy being a local guide, as a hobby). Our pricy water arrived, and at exactly 9:50, a waitress came to take our order. I told her I we hadnt had a chance to look at the menu yet, to which she replied OK, but last call is at 10 pm. We were blindsided by that comment, but she dashed off before we could inquire what Exactly that meant. When she came back, a few minutes later we found out.THE FAIL. Ophelia closes at 11 pm, and you are able to make a reservation as late as 10 pm. Unbenounced to us, last call for Food and Alcohol Is ALSO At TEN P.M. We were not told this until a few minutes before. So we ended up paying for our fancy still water, $15 + tip. We went ahead and tipped even though Litterly Everyone was Rude to us, except for the server who took our water order, and the guy at the check in desk. So we went back to our studio apartment, a few floors down, feeling as flat as our fancy water, with a few short minutes of romance and a handful of pics to show for it. I cant say who was more disappointed, my husband or me. We both had high hopes for a romantic birthday celebration, and Ophelia totally destroyed it! We rarely have the opportunity to enjoy a nice dinner out, and the window wont open again for another 2 weeks (because of my work schedule).THE CRITIQUE. My suggestion to Ophelia is to be transparent about your 10 pm last call. And why would you ever have reservations at 10 pm!?!? Its nonsensical!! Seat people on time for their reservation. Having a hip, swanky vibe does not give you a pass to be rude. It actually kills the whole vibe. This is Manhattan!! Ophelia is not the only place in town with a romantic vibe, fabulous views, fun cocktails, and delicious food. (Although, I cannot comment on how good or bad their food and cocktails actually are)
Very nice spot. Great views. Expect to pay for the view. Drinks were pretty but not the best. Appetizers were amazing. French fries are actually potato wedges and they are the best! I would definitely get that again. Grilled cheese is good, but do wish it had a side of tomato soup. Lol. Service was amazing.
I used to love this place and today I had the worst experience of my life. I got scolded by the manager just because I was asking him for some information about a private event that I wanted to plan. He told me that he was busy enough and didnt have time for me. No manners! Shame on you Ophelia!
Nice view and ok cocktails. Expensive, but the place does look upscale.Service wasn’t great. It was a slow night and drinks took 20-30mins to arrive. The waitresses was nice, we didn’t like one of the drinks and they took it off the bill. It wasn’t crowded on a Friday night and there wasn’t a fussy door policy.
The view is amazing, but the service and reservation logistics needs major improvement. I’ve been here multiple times and have made reservations through OpenTable, and the hostesses tell me “Oh we don’t have the space, it was OpenTable’s mistake for allowing you to make a reservation.” So, if you make a reservation, don’t get your hopes up. They aren’t actually reserving space for you and have a huge flaw managing their OpenTable integration.Other than that, the view is good, but it is a bit odd that most of the seats face inward, rather than out toward the view. Drinks are expensive, but they do have very unique cocktails.
The bar is beautiful and I would recommend to bring visitors there or if you stay at the beekman. A cocktail is around 20$ and the presentation is really nice. They put much effort into details. Try to go out to the terrace if possible. They have a 360 degree view of midtown. :)
Another hidden gem discovered!! This place is right in the middle of the city, yet away from the chaos. The ambiance was just breathtaking. The view was amazing. The churros with chocolate dipping sauce-to die for. The drinks-extra fancy. But the prices were the same as any other lounge in the city. I highly recommend coming. The service was wonderful and Roberto the bartender made everything extra special for my friend and I. Perfect spot for a date or night out with your friends!!
If you like to spend a night with friends or with your date in Gotham style this is the place. The building itself is a historical landmark that dates back to the roaring 20s. The lounge is on the top floor and its interior matches the outside style of the building. Besides you will have pretty much a 360 bird view on east side midtown as well as booming whillamsburg. The place have very creative mixologist, the menu is mostly appetizers, but the food is good and easy to share. On the weekend they do have live DJ.
I was so excited to go here but the photos are a bit deceiving. Don’t get me wrong the decor is lovely but the menu is extremely limited. The place is cute but the service was horrible. We sat at the bar and each time we ordered a drink it was wrong. Not sure what happened there. We asked for a smoked old fashioned and got just an old fashion. Asked for another drink on the menu and received a completely different drink than asked for. The bartender didn’t seem to care much either.
Before this space became Ophelia’s it was the “Top of the Tower” where we held our wedding reception. We were staying at the Beekman Hotel (where Ophelia’s is located) and hoped to reminisce even though the place changed over to Ophelia’s. We made several attempts at a reservation via Ophelias reservations link and through two phone messages. We were ignored - never receiving a call back or email to confirm. When we showed up for a quick cocktail we were met by a very rude hostess and then spoke to the manager who was professional but unhelpful. I had hoped to find the email reservation request (per the manager) but since it was done through their reservation link there was no proof of my email. We were told we could sit at the crowded bar, with NO view and overpriced drinks (even fir this native New Yorker). We left very disappointed. The view is great IF you have a table but the staff is rude and unhelpful, the place is overcrowded and loud, and the crowd is there only to be seen. PS I made another reservation request via their website to see what would happen and still NO response. Very disappointed at how we were treated considering our history there and their lack of response.
I absolutely love this place. It is so elegant and picturesque. Also, it is absolutely not a touristy place, I feel like its the locals secret bar. You need to have a reservation in order to get in without the wait, but its a rule for any place in New York. Prices are rather high, but it is worth it. I had a cocktail named excess and it was delicious. Overall great place for a girls night out or a fancy date.
I went to Ophelia’s last night for my 30th birthday. Making a last minute reservation for a table of 10 was very easy and straight forward. We arrived half an hour late, and with 3 guests less than we had anticipated, and yet the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The place itself is gorgeous. The views of NYC and the east river were stunning. And the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. The drinks and food were delicious! We especially liked the Resurrection! Our table mostly ordered the sliders, steak, and fries. The food portions were a bit on the smaller size, which is the only reason why I give this place 4 out of 5 stars. At the end of the night the staff surprised our table with an entire cake (7” diameter, delicious red velvet) and champagne on the house, for my birthday! I was soooo surprised because never have I received an entire complementary cake on my birthday! Highly recommend this place for a night of catching up with friends!
One of the only true 360 degree rooftops in the city, Ophelia has a number of unique calling cards.Pair it with its uniquely serene neighborhood (between the UN and Sutton Place) and it’s a great relaxed date spot. The creative cocktails- White Lightning and Honey & Smoke are sure to capture your eye and captivate your taste buds. The unique “running track” outer edge is both alluring and a little too basic and the drinks have been some big hits but also some big swings and misses.Definitely a spot worth trying and it gets a nod as a Top 15 rooftop in the city on my list along with the distinction of the most old-world, subdued Manhattan feel.
I enjoyed spending some time at this nice lounge in Manhattan, New York. Decor was beautiful, view of the city from the elevation was pleasant, drinks were creative (e.g. Purple Tuxedo), and staff members were professional + courteous. If you want to grab drinks with people after work, or if you want to take someone special out on a romantic occasion, I think this would be a good option to keep in mind.
This was a great solo experience. You must have a reservation or take your chances at the bar. The bar is popping!! The menu tapas are good too. The bartenders were great and personable. I loved it. The scenery is nice but if you’re inviting friends, make a reservation!
Super cute place for cocktails and a nice Long Island City skyline! Came on a pretty busy Saturday night without a reservation, but the awesome hostess was able to seat us by the window with nice views still. I forgot what the drink was called that I ordered, but it had some chocolate aroma in it, I really liked it. Sounds weird, but just try it!
Deco drinks spot atop a building on E49th. Great views and plenty of small nooks for chatting or enjoying a drink. Seats are not quite as comfortable as youd want if you were to linger as long as you wanted. Went late on a Monday as it was closing and enjoyed a Fernet on the balcony in the crisp air. Could see it being a bit claustrophobic if it were over crowded on a busy night but definitely worth a visit. In some ways the northern (city) views are the most 🙌
Worst experienceI made reservations a day ago 8:30pm when i get there on time dude there told me ur reservations was 6:00 then i show my message on my phone which is was 8:30pm anyway he’s trying to lie to me and make excuses i have to wait 20 min to find my sit, waiters are so rude telling other people ur time is over u need to leave so disrespectful
PRO TIP: Make a reservation!! Don’t wing it. (Their attitude is really different for those who walk in.)I have to say the vibe was really cool for a Monday evening. The views are really worth it. The cocktails are genuinely special and each had a different special touch to it (we tried 4 of them.) The charcuterie board was really, really good and I almost think less expensive than other places for the amount of stuff it had!Service could be better - maybe they just need to hire more staff to meet the demand but staff is in real hurry. This is not the place where they’ll let take your time with the order or tell you what each drink is about.
Its a smaller rooftop than other rooftop places but the view here is freaking amazing. Their drinks also cost a lot near $20s each cocktail but what you expect for a upscale lounge in NYC. If your looking for a rooftop place with a DJ and a nice view, this is the place.
Shiso leaf infused Shochu with a dash of Tanqueray gin, Yuzu drizzle and yellow Chartreuse while enjoying views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. The interior, with its butterfly taxidermies and antique silverware, make you dive back into the 1930s — the perfect ending to a fantastic trip. Greetings from the Netherlands #5Stars
This spot is a top quality hidden gem just waiting to be discovered. Ambience is just right. Beautifully paired with great music and handcrafted drinks that will most definitely have you coming back for more. Vincent and Roberto the bartender were amazing but truth be told, the entire staff provided top notch service.
Incredibly rude waste staff who ignored our reservation this evening. We were told it would be fine to be 20 minutes late due to traffic and paid $50 to get here only to be turned down after being 6 minutes late. :/ I rarely leave leave reviews but this place was horrible
We came to ophelia for the first time. Eduardo and Andrea gave us the best service they were always attentive asking us if we were good if we needed something. I love the service they both gave us. Vicente the manager came and ask us if we were ok if we needed anything. I would definitely return back the atmosphere it’s amazing the music was good food was amazing and so where the drinks.
Great bar with amazing views and really beautiful decorations for the holiday season! Very tasty drinks and exceptional staff. Our waitress was very patient, explained every drink in detail and her recommendations sounded wonderful. She even took my drink back when I said I didn’t like the taste and gave me a new one for free!
First time at Ophelia an amazing place. Eduardo and Juan Jiménez the best. The view is amazing at night. COVID restrictions are very good they are following everything. They are both attentive Andrea is also amazing always attentive. I would definitely come again. I give them 5 stars
Been to this place a couple times and both were amazing. The view is what makes it a must visit, but the drinks are great as well. Nice variety of unique cocktails. Very chill atmosphere, and wasnt too crowded either time we went. If you want a nice place to get a drink with friends, this is it.
We had so much fun. Such a hidden treasure! Great views, fun festive decor, awesome rooftop. The bar has awesome potions and great with craft cocktails. The food we ordered was yummy...tiny little share plates. Not a full dinner but fun apps. Friendly staff and usually no lines and open seating.
Beautiful views, a little complicated to get through and you currently need to make appointments through their website, do not call ahead since they have trouble with their system at the moment. However that aside, they are a beautiful location with lovely views at sunset and wrap around patio.
Didnt even stay and dine there due to the way they had the tables and seating. Idk if its because of covid and trying to make their. money back. But the tables was smaller than my night stand. The table only fits one drink on them. Imagine trying to fit plates and glasses on it. The food might have been good but we wouldnt know due to the poor seating arrangements.
We are staying in the building below the rooftop bar, Ophelia. Great views, ambiance, nice staff. Our appetizer order was slow in coming so we got a free drink. They believe in accountability. Appetizer was very good. Can’t speak to the rest of the menu. A free pass to the lounge came with my room so I took advantage. The rooftop is the peak of a deco building with a fairly tight footprint so seating is a little awkward but the view is fantastic and the drinks delicious and original.
The service was horrible; the waitress had an attitude; took more than 45 minutes to serve; when asked about the delayed she replied with an attitude. The worse part that even though the service was the worse the waitress got a mandatory 20% gratuity. I would never go back and I would definitely not recommend this place again.
I actually LOVED this place except the drinks are PRICEY! If youre prepared for that it is amazing. Not over crowded. Super cozy seating nitches. Spectacular views. Great for a girls night out or an intimate conversation over drinks. The drinks were good but a little overpriced. Service was timely and classy.
I reserved a table here for a celebration and they called to cancel on me at 6 PM the night before stating that they are having a private party. It is tough to find a reservation in Manhattan for a group of 6 on a Saturday, especially the night before. Very disappointed in the lack of consideration.
I was Invited out to check this place out. It was a soft opening for some guests. So I uploaded a bunch of pictures from the event. The cocktails were very nice, colorful and elegant. Some cool ones to check out. The Rooftop gives you a nice comfy indoor vibe. I think when its warmer it be a really nice spot to check out time to time!
Beautiful decor. Lovely cocktails. The food they have is extremely limited. No desserts! That seemed very odd. I also emailed the day before with a special request and they didnt seem to get it. Also odd music playlist - 70s and 80s hits, which didnt feel quite right for a 1920s style place. The staff were lovely and service was good.
What an amazing experience! First, you walk into the building and ride the elevator up to the lounge. The elevator doors open to the beautiful bar and some tables. Take some time to walk around the lounge to see the different views of the city and find a spot to sit. Excellent service, amazing drinks, and delicious food! I highly recommend it as a late-night outing after a show (my friend and I went after seeing Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Live at Town Hall and it was a perfect end to the night!).
Definitely worth a trip up! Located in an adorable little neighborhood near the the UN and the FDR. Amazing ambiance, panoramic views, awesome city view of river (east side)midtown, uptown, anywhere! Fun, delicious drinks, fun places to sit, stand, hang. Small dish servings which makes it even better to go along with your cocktail. Historic pics all throughout. Staff are super nice. Wear something chic and casual.
I live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to go ever since they opened but never did up until my birthday last week. Had an excellent experience. Everything from the atmosphere to the view, drinks and service exceeded my expectations. Our sever/waitress, Heather, was an absolute doll! This place is truly special with rich history. The Art Deco building has a truly historic feel with a modernized appeal. Apparently it used to be an all-women’s hotel, then was Frank Sinatra’s go to place. Prices are pretty good considering the experience you’re getting. Highly reccomened. If you’re looking for a place to grab drinks and delicious bites in Midtown east area you must visit. Will definitely be back!!!
Ophelia is an excellent place to grab some unique cocktails and tapas before a night on the town. Its a very small, cozy, intimate venue sitting at the top of the historic Beekman tower that provides and stunning view of the east side of NYC and the East River.I would highly recommend heading here around dusk so you can watch the sunset. Its a fantastic experience to sip one of their signature cocktails while watching the sun set on NYC.As others mentioned, their food is roughly tapas portions so dont expect a hearty, filling meal. However, while the portions were small, all of the food we had was delicious. Its a really great place to share a small plate with a date or a friend visiting the city but not for a full dinner. The service was decent and really the only differentiator for me between a 4 and a 5 star review. As much as I would like to give this beautiful lounge 5 stars, our waiter was very cold and aloof, not welcoming at all. However, she was relatively attentive and it seemed like many of the other waiters were quite nice so maybe it was just luck of the draw. The last thing that I have to mention is the price. Expect to spend a decent amount here. A regular drink will run you ~$10-$15 while one of their very delicious signature cocktails will run you ~$17-$20. The small plates are also in the $15-$20 range so just make sure you know what you are getting into before you head here. My wife and I will definitely be stopping by again for drinks and for the unbeatable view.
Nice view, worth seeing, but there are better ones. Seating arrangements are cramped and ridiculous, and the food is overpriced and totally average. Cocktails are fine, but you can get their equals at less silly places. The cheese plate is something I would feed my 3-year-old on a lazy weeknight, a handful of grapes, brie, goat cheese with herbs, cheddar, and some overdone toast, and the portions were laughably small. The sliders were ok. Even the music was boring. The service, at least, was impeccable. Fast, polite, and polished.
An enjoyable evening with a nice view, although there were several aspects to this visit that let it down. We were initially disappointed by the choice of glassware, champagne coupes appeared to suit all 3 drinks we ordered, champagne, Martini and the white lightning. Unfortunately, what further tarnished the evening was the business man and extremely drugged up lady of the night sat in the corner. For a place which is supposed to be high class, its unfortunate that this was our experience and its safe to say we shall not be returning. There are certainly more pleasant atmospheres in cocktail bars around New York
Has the potential to be fantastic but was a letdown. This is the rooftop lounge on the Beekmans 26th Floor. The view is fantastic but the seating is atrocious. if youd like a seat at a table youre given a ledge like on a window with a seat made of a tree trunk covered by a fake sheepskin (with no backrest) you pretty much are squished awkwardly against the wall. They had probably 10 cocktails on their menu and they were out of ingredients to make four of them! I found our host/waitress to be very unclear and have little to no knowledge of the menu. The price ranged from $17-$19 which is typical for a rooftop but the cocktails were tiny (they use smaller glasses than average sized glasses)...Overall I just think they need a renovation or a reboot so to speak. I think the space has great potential but was unfortunately a letdown last night.
The views are spectacular and matches the amazing cocktails they make. It is a hip and trendy spot and attracts the hip and trendy of the East side. Lots of UN and affiliated people visit the lounge. A must visit while in NYC. Did not find the drinks excessively expensive. Truly loved it!
This has become my go to bar in midtown. Special shout out to the manager and staff who have made each of my visits exceptional by ensuring that I am properly accommodated. Im a bit of a cocktail geek, but this place has some tricks up its sleeves that really wowed me. Ive seen quite a few places do some cool things with smoke, but the Ophelias Ascension is something else! And obviously, the views are a real draw. 5 stars!
If you want window seats, definitely make a reservation in advance, otherwise theres generally only seating at the bar. Theres a limited menu of small bites. The main attraction is the spectacular views, especially over the East River with the skyline of Long Island City in the background.
Even with a reservation, we had to wait in the foyer with the booming music. Barely could hear myself. Finally got seats which looked like a spot for two people... definitely wasnt enough room for 4. Outside was reserved, and Im sure it would have been better outside seeing that the booming music wasnt drilling a hole into my ear. A true 360 degree rooftop locations in the city, but when you cant hear what the person next to you is saying, and theres not enough light to see the menu, there needs to be some kind of reassessment of what kind of place this is: a bar where people can hang out, or a club where drinks flow and eardrums burst. If youre looking for the latter, then this is the place for you. If you want to talk to the people in your group, theres much better places to go.
Great place for a date or small group gathering. Easy to make reservations on OpenTable (highly recommend) to take in the sights of UES. Skip their Japanese frozen ice dessert because it was solid ball of ice with liquid syrup that was hard to enjoy and not authentic. Instead stick to their drinks, music and atmosphere. Food seemed ok but not worth the price to size ratio. Have a nice dinner nearby and ONLY come here for drinks! Salute!!!
Its a rooftop bar, and is located slightly out of the way so its a lot less chaotic than others. I went with my friend, but this place was more suited for a date than anything else. Small, romantic seating overlooking the East River and LIC . The small plates are good for sharing.
This bar seems to be made for overflow when you cant get into The St. Felix when its crowded seeing as its connected together! , accented in pinks and colors! with walls covered in antique mirrors sorta like well, A Ophelia Lounge NYC lol! The handcrafted cocktails here are amazing and reasonably priced. Great playlist with abstract movies and videos projected on to the back wall. Its a small space but cool! Ill be back
The experience was great until we got our check. There was an item on the bill which we did not order and asked the waiter to correct it. After a bit the manager comes by claiming that he personally saw that particular dish brought onto the table, basically stating that we lied. We had a long conversation with him but he kept on claiming that he saw it brought the item. At last, he agreed to take the item off the bill but did not change his stand about us being liars. The thing is, the waitress herself acknowledged that the item in question was delivered to table next to us and was a mistake, but guess what the manager still hold his stand and did not even acknowledge the fact that he was incorrect. I STRONGLY think this place needs a new manager.
Went for a networking event last night. Arrived 6:30, got drinks and ordered steak tartare and fries. Sat and waited almost 30 minutes - no food. Checked with barkeep (hostess told me she was too busy to take food orders) - working on it. Checked 10 minutes later (still no food) - barkeep said he had passed info to manager because he had no clout with kitchen. Manager came by shortly, asked what our order was and said fries were ready but were still preparing steak tartare. How do you prepare raw meat? After more than an hour went by we got up with our coats on when barkeep came by with my credit card, said we wouldnt be charged and admitted hat food had been accidentally sent to another table. So we were comped a few ginger ales and a Prosecco. Classy! Verdict: nice view, incompetent management and service. Food? Cant say - never received our order. Avoid!
There are many other roof top places in new york that are much better with service, food and drinks ( that we never got after waiting for from 7.02 pm to 8 pm. We walked out in complete disgust at the service provided. We were seated in a very cramped wrap around terrace. If two people were trying to pass one would have to stand against the wall to let the other person pass. For first fifteen minutes there was no one who came to even give us the Menu. After 20 mins we had a breathless server who took our order for apps and drinks and she apologized for the delay saying they were backed up. We understood and then proceeded to wait . The 2 apps came out but no drinks... at 7.35pm she got the wrong order..... at 7:45pm another hostess approached and said sorry we are backed up and cud we repeat the order...and we said we would like to get the cheque. We waited patiently and no cheque arrived till 7.55pm . Finally, we got up to leave and ask for cheque so we cud pay and leave and then were told that we did not have to pay without a flicker of regret and an excuse that the bar tender was backed up.... we wasted 2 hour and 45 mins of our precious friday time getting to this place, waiting to be served and then reaching to another place to start our evening....We had read the reviews and then went to this place. I fail to believe most of them now and we will never ever get to this place. Management and hospitality is zero. Also the place was not even close to a packed Friday evening.
We came here on our first night in NYC, a few hours after landing from the UK. So we were a bit tired and jetlagged but were nevertheless keen to get a classic NY skyline view to kickstart our trip. For that alone, a trip to Ophelia is worth it, because the views are absolutely incredible. The cocktails are good, but come with a hefty pricetag, although thats pretty standard in NYC. We stayed for two rounds and enjoyed the views immensely.
We arrived, everything looks good until we found out that our spot didnt have air conditioner so we asked to be moved, they said no, that everyone had no ac, well, we went for a walk to see the view and found out that there were ac everywhere except our spot😑. We moved to another table and then we got kicked out. So, thats the reason why Im leaving 1 star review. The waiters were nice , but didnt accommodate us, we spent more than 300 , we canceled part of it because we left at the end. O coming back

2022-01-17Cool rooftop bar with innovative drinks. We went there on Christmas Eve and it was fairly packed. Seating is a bit tight as it’s optimized for the views. Overall each drink on the menu is carefully thought out. However, none of them were as flavorful as I’d expect. They had run out of a couple of drinks on their menu and I was a bit disappointed since those are the ones I had heard reviews about. Overall I didn’t find the bar too special. Lots of other bars if you want better drinks or better views.

2022-04-10This place really surprised me. Its tight to walk around so hard to find room for large group but you can rent more space for orivate parties. The food is decent, nothing mind blowing but the scenery and the drinks will MORE than make up for it. Definitely try the Lower East Side drink on the menu. Its thick refreshing and tart!!! I would definitely come here on a date to impress or catch up with friends in an upscale setting. They have DJ in the evenings and lots of ladies come through for that so its sure to be a fun evening 😉

2022-01-07Very nice and cozy place. I dont think theres a bad place to sit. They have great cocktails, and although the food menu is limited, the food was excellent! Music wasnt too loud so we were able to have a conversation without shouting (we were there from 7-9). Make sure to reserve in advance!

2022-02-05Great place for a date night! I made a reservation with Ophelias for a date night with the wife on a Saturday. When I entered the building lobby, I was greeted by a gentlemen who pointed us to the elevator. We took the elevator up and exited at what I think was the top floor. The restaurant was beyond beautiful. We were greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. We had a beautiful view of the city. We ordered a cocktail called the “pain killa” it was mixed very well. The spinach and artichoke dip was addicting and delicious. The fish was very fresh and tasty and so were the deviled eggs. We had the molten chocolate lava cake for desert. Everything was awesome. Our hostess was friendly and attentive and a gentlemen, who I assumed was the manager came to inquire numerous times if everything was going well. What a great night!

2022-05-14Really nice bar with great views! There are seats that face the window so you can have a drink with a view. The drinks were pretty good! The matcha yuzu mousse was ok. Service was nice too! The bartenders was very friendly. However, the one waitress we had was very pushy about ordering more food/drinks. Other than that, the experience was good!

2022-05-23Awesome space, food, drinks, vibe. Met friends for cocktails, heavy rain day so not much of a view, but the space was intimate and fun. Try the lobster caviar rolls, truffle fries, spinach artichoke dip, and any/all the cocktails. The DJ also didnt disappoint on a Thursday evening at 6:30pm. Will be back.

2022-05-02Spectacular views of THE city, amazing food and incredible drinks. Ivan the bartender is a magician of mixology. He took some ambiguous guidance and matched it with his own creation of mulled raspberry, gin, and other things I dont remember. Truly an artist. Will be a regular stop for me on Visits to NY.
