Dr. Braun is wonderful & so is his staff. They have a nice modern selection of glasses to choose from and will help you choose if youre having trouble deciding which pair not only looks the best but will be the best fit. The office is nice and clean, modern and friendly. I highly recommend them!
Great provider & great service! I started going here because the rest of my family has been so happy with the quality & level of service from Original Eyewear. When I needed new glasses, I went to them for the first time on my own. The exam was fantastic & very thorough, all members of the staff were professional & courteous, and Im delighted with the final result. Were entirely happy with them.
I had some big eye problems. My family and close friends recommended I see Dr Braun because he treated them with great success. I also had great treatment and am very satisfied. If you need something extra in your eye exam, see Dr Braun!
In the midst of the COVID19 pandemic, Dr. Braun and staff went above and beyond to help me. After picking up my glasses, I made the mistake of cracking my new lenses due to use of 90% isopropyl alcohol and they assisted me by sending in the glasses for repair at no cost to me. Best eye care and customer service I have ever received. They truly care about their patients.
Dr. Dave Braun is a class act - kind, gentle, knowledgeable, assured and assuring, with a great bedside manner. His staff is wonderful - responsive, friendly and very much a reflection on Dr. Braun himself. I give this business a A+++ rating!
Terrible. They tried to charge me over $150 for what should have been a $40 visit with my insurance co-pay. I ended up getting my lenses elsewhere where they didnt rip me off but they charged me $50 for what should only have been a $15 co-pay. I only scheduled an exam. Its a shame because I actually liked the doctor but I left there feeling like I had been through a three card monte/bait and switch scam. What a rip-off. AVOID!
From the moment I walked into the tastefully decorated office I felt comfortable and relaxed. I was greeted promptly and courteously. The staff took the time to listen to my concerns, give me options and ultimately guided me toward the best choice for my situation. Upon meeting Dr Braun I was immediately impressed with his friendly, knowledgable demeanor. I cant say enough about my positive experience here, and have already told friends and family. Recently moved to Syracuse, this office has been one of the few stress-free services Ive had the pleasure of encountering. The staff has been very friendly, the doctor knowledgeable, and everyone eager to help. I mentioned that I was interested in getting prescription colored contacts for cosplay purposes, and the enthusiasm to meet my unorthodox request was heartening! Im happy to have found them.
We followed Dr. Braun from Cicero out to his current location in Syracuse. His knowledge and ability to assist our family with our medical eye issues is very much appreciated. I trust Mandy to choose my new frames for me as she has a great talent for knowing what looks great on the customers.
Dr. Braun and his staff are very friendly and very professional. They are easy to schedule with, and also send text reminders so you wont miss your appointment, which is very convenient. I actually look forward to my annual eye check-up.
Made a large eyeglass/sunglasses purchase (around $1,300). I asked that a itemized receipt be emailed to me. I never received one. I have emailed twice and have not received a response. I have called and cant reach a person, had to leave a message. Not the best customer service. Kind-of sorry placed my order.

We followed Dr. Braun from his previous location to Syracuse, and then to Watertown as it was the closest location for us. Dr. Braun is very thorough and caring. He is great with my two young children and put them at ease during their eye exams. Highly recommend!

Do not try to schedule your appointment online. I scheduled an apt at 8, upon arriving I noticed they open at 8:30... not cool. I like Dr. Baun but the receptionist was not too friendly.

2022-07-07Ive worn glasses for 42 years and have a host of eye and vision issues. In my vast array of experience with eye doctors, Dr. Braun is BY FAR the most knowledgeable and thorough. I believe he is the soulmate for my eyes LOL! No other doctor has ever understood all that I have going on and have the expertise and diligence to get me the best vision Ive ever had. I have thoughts about moving south in a few years but I will return to Dr. Braun for all of my eye care - he is that good! Micah, Lisa and all other staff members are extremely pleasant, professional and caring. FANTASTIC OFFICE and Im super grateful.

2022-07-29Dr. Braun, as well as his colleagues, are phenomenal. Both represent exactly what we probably all want when having our vision exams, concerned about a particular vision issues, and discussing appropriate treatment and eyeglass prescriptions. A good exam should always involve questions from the doctor and patient alike. Having solid answers should not be novel or unique but, sadly, not all medical professionals have the best skills in that regard. Dr. Braun was who I saw most recently - he is simply top notch.Aside from the optometrists, the opticians who deal with eyeglass options are also extraordinarily competent, efficient, patient, kind, and provide outstanding service. Lisa and her colleague recently helped me so much not only with choosing appropriate frames but also with the truthfulness that one needs when deciding on frames and which lens treatments make practical and economic sense. Sure, it may seem cheaper to go online but nothing is costlier than time wasted trying to make frames work only to repeatedly have to send them back, etc. I truly appreciated the incredible personalized service and, thus, I highly recommend Original Eyewear to all in the Syracuse metro area!

2022-07-23Asked for retina clearance for Lasik, they heard me as retina clarus. I went thinking I was getting retina clearance, but then, of course, the exam result was not accepted by my Lasik office in NYC. The Lasik office canceled my procedure the night before when I was already in NYC to get the surgery. They charged $25 for the copay and $35 for a retina clarus photo that no one asked for; meanwhile the retina clearance I got from a retina specialist later only cost me $25 for the copay. They refused to refund me... Not to mention my money and time cost to go to the city and pull out my Lasik surgery...

2020-09-26Based on my experience, good doctors of all kinds are very hard to come by these days. When I moved out to Syracuse for school I didnt really know where to look, but found Original Eyewear online and its truly the best eye care I have ever had. Havent experienced long wait times to be called in for my appointment and the staff is wonderful. Dr. Braun is very knowledgeable, kind, attentive. You truly feel like everyone is there to take care of you and youre not just another person to walk through the door.

2020-09-17I have had Dr. Shelton for a little over a year now and she is by far the best eye doctor I’ve had! She listens and explains what she is seeing, and truly cares about her patients. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an excellent care provider.

2021-08-12Definitely do not recommend. after being told to sit through an exam while my insurance was run, some random woman that didn’t do anything other than fittings and insurance somehow realized that they don’t take my insurance and she’s never heard of it before. not true, my coverage had actually lapsed and rather than admitting that she had no idea what she was doing, she instead told me everything would be fine and made me pay $194 out of pocket. she never did a fitting or took any pupillary measurements (despite me picking out a pair of frames in the office that day) and when i asked to come back, my appointments were constantly cancelled and everyone was “sorry”. i did end up going to eyecare of cny at 2901 court street and in one sitting (the same day i called and asked to come in) i was fitted, measured, and had my frames and lenses ordered within one hours time. ask for cherish, she’s awesome but don’t bother visiting julien place.

2018-08-09Friendly knowledgeable staff and Dr. Braun is amazing!!! Takes the time to find the exact prescription - I have worn contacts all my life and have been using reading glasses lately with contacts.He made sure I was happy with the new prescription and I no longer need to use reading glasses with contacts. I highly recommend Original Eyewear!!!

2018-08-26Best optometrist I have ever seen. Dr. Braun and his staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. It took about a month of trial and error for me to be able to settle on the best and most comfortable brand and prescription of contact lenses, and throughout the entire process Dr. Braun was nothing but understanding and determined to help me find the perfect contacts.
