Another fav place of locals and tourists. The coffee is as good as it gets in the Hudson Valley (large steam pressure machine...)The food is good, the atmosphere is low key, and generally sunny and well lit. The staff are competent, friendly and upbeat. The menu is not extensive but offers something for everyone, particularly when complimented by their specials. On occasion they are open for dinner (do your homework), but this is a pleasure for breakfast and lunch.
Passing through town after a couple nights in the woods. Walked into an amazing smell, bright space, welcoming staff. But..the best part was the kale mushroom bread pudding skillet with mushroom gravy. Seriously one of the best things I have ever tasted. Our server got the recipe for us from the chef. Coffee is great as well. Must try if you want a tasty, rich breakfast. My partners huevos rancheros were fresh and not as heavy.
Delicious food and cocktails. Super social distanced friendly with QR code menus and touchless pay at checkout (via QR as well). Definitely worth checking out while near Woodstock. One of the only restaurants open during the week as well (Mon-Wed) while we were in town.
There good isnt the best (too much dressing thats not very flavorful and a Cuban Press thats the worst, greasiest, non spicy yet creamy Cubano ever), but edible and great service. Worth a shot. I did love my hibiscus and Presseco brunch drink (though it both of mine were served in sticky glasses).
If you end up staying in Woodstock, ABSOLUTELY try this spot out. Locally sourced, fresh food and ingredients. If you like a good burger, youll LOVE the Oriole burger. Its honestly one of my top three burgers Ive ever tasted. My girl had the French toast and absolutely loved it. The service was great, too. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Your palate will thank you.
Wonderful breakfast! Love their attention to detail. Strong rich coffee. Piping hot tea. I had the tasty homemade corned beef hash with home fries done just right, hot and crisp. My gf had the avocado toast with truffle oil which was delicious. Service was attentive. Place and bright and cheery.
Overall we really enjoyed it here and will be back. Food was decent. Nothing to write home about. But it worked. Cocktails were delicious. Service was pleasant considering it was outrageously busy. Only truly bad part was having to wait for a while in line. We literally had to go in and ask for them to start seating people. There were many open tables but it was like they just forgot people were waiting. Not very organized hosting situation. But I think they were short staffed. Also…there were two children..yes children working that day…bussing tables and running food. Not teenagers but children…lol, under 9 years old for sure. That was a bit off putting as well.
This need to be the first place you visit when coming to Woodstock! Oriole is a cute vibrant little shop filled with delicious brunch food, drinks and more! I ordered the Brioche French toast w/fresh berries and whip cream, side of scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. Absolutely the best French toast I’ve ever had! Everything tasted so fresh and it is locally sourced. My boyfriend ordered the grass fed burger which was also very juicy and delicious! Highly recommend coming to Oriole!
Well, I stopped in for a large coffee on Christmas eve. Heres my review. Its cozy little area filled with smells of delectable food. Although I didnt order any food, what I saw around the room looked delicious. My coffee was freshly made and was brewed to perfection. The people that work here where all very attentive. Even after I placed my order I was asked by 2 other employees if I was being helped. I like that service. They all were filled with smiles even though they were working Christmas eve. I can see myself coming here again when in the area and actually trying the food next time. I definitely recommend the coffee.
Edit: major menu change and hours change this year. We havent enjoyed the food nearly as much, unfortunately. More of a pub grub menu than the brunch spot we used to love.My son loves this place! Brunch is great, lots of options for veggies and eggs and meat alike. But kid likes the French toast. Breakfast and lunch only. Staff is aloof, might have a wait for a table and to order. Casual, very good European coffee. Fun place we bring out of town guests, but we dont frequent as locals. Food quality is mediocre (not organic, and the cooking oil isnt quality), though the menu is exciting.
Came here for breakfast and got seated instantly. The venue is busy, with both young and old clientele. I had the curried coconut tofu hash (vegan) and it was very generous serving and all the veggies tasted fresh. Service is fast (for those in a rush) and friendly.. On a final note, bathroom was fresh and spotless. Definitely a great stop before walking around Woodstock.
Ordered my food, doesnt write anything down.I ordered the Woodstocker with 3 eggs over easy and bacon with sausageI get scrambled eggs with old reheated bacon (forreal turned into dust when touched) sausage was a sliced up massive meat ball.Drinks were good, I guess because we poured and mix it ourselves
I loved this place! It was quite busy. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The seating does lack privacy in the front of the restaurant. Its a great place to meet for small talk and enjoy a great breakfast. The homemade hash was amazing. The prices were very affordable (7-9 dollars for a meal). The servings were huge!
My 10 yr old daughter and I went here last night and it was divine! She got nachos which were huge and delicious and I got the fettuccine buratta which was perfection and a fun and different culinary experience for me. I had never had buratta cheese which came on top of a huge plate of pasta. It is a baseball size ball and when you cut into it creamy cheese spills onto you pasta. I had a dream about eating it again seriously! Oh also fresh basil! Yum! Our server was sweet as pie, atmosphere relaxed and fun, decor simple and clean. Oh AND we got the flourless chocolate cake and that was very good as well. Thank you for a wonderful experience Oriole 9!
Had breakfast here and the food was excellent! Unique mushroom bread pudding with gravy! This was a first. Henry, the server, was competent and very helpful. Good atmosphere. Lead waitress could use some hospitality training. Efficient, but no warmth. Barked out commands and questions but the food is worth it.
Its the off season so not much in town was open when we were walking around Woodstock the other day. I havent had a reuben since I stopped eating meat over a decade ago, so I was really excited to see a tempeh reuben on the menu. My husband and I each ordered one, the kids got a grilled cheese and French toast. We got back to the house and we ALL could not stop Mmmmmm-ing for our whole meal. My husband and I agreed, it was one of the best sandwiches weve had in a very long time. The kids could not stop saying how yummy their food was. Thanks Oriole 9 for such a great meal!!
The food is amazing .usually the staff is above and beyond . We havent been there in a while , waitress was a little off asked if we wanted salt pepper and Jam . We said yes to all three and it came to the table as we were finishing . It wasnt packed . Buy everything was excellent .
Excellent, friendly service. Dietary restrictions are considered (gluten free options, dairy free options). Drinks are creative and well executed. Skylights offer natural daylight and calm music sets a relaxing atmosphere. Food is fresh and comprised of quality ingredients. I would highly reccomend and will return next time Im in town! Well done :)
Never have I received this kind of service for not being white. Our waitress was definitely racist, and treated us differently than every other customer (we were the only non-white ppl). My husband and I came to Oriole 9 on a trip to Kingston from the city. The other staff was fine; however, our waitresses actions made us run out of the restaurant as soon as we got the check, even though we just ordered 2 fresh cups of coffee after our meal. It made us aware of the fact that its the year 2020 and people like us can be made to feel this way still.
Came here on a whim for breakfast/brunch while in town, best thing I did. Staff is very welcoming, decor is eccentric and fun. The Oriole 9 Breakfast was very, very good albeit the bacon was a bit overdone. The house Bloody Mary is absolutely awesome: chunky, hot home-made mix, practically a meal in and of itself. Will be back for dinner for sure.
Oriole 9 hosted our rehearsal dinner in October and we could not have been happier with the service, the food, the wine and the ambiance! Jessica and Chris were wonderful to work with, flexible and willing to go above and beyond. Wonderful local place, we cant wait to be back for breakfast!
Delicious sandwiches and friendly service. I had the pressed Cuban which was perfect comfort food after a long hike in the snow. Cold brew coffee is excellent also. We had only a limited amount of time and the hosts were great about that - seating us quickly and ensuring we were served quickly.
What happened was, my significant other and I were looking for a new place to eat. Upon our arrival, we were greeted and sat at the bar. The watiress only partially cleaned and partially bussed the bar from the previous individuals. We sat down, and what seemed to be a regular customer was being extremely rude to us and took over the situation. Three staff members saw this happen and they did not interven. So, we were bullied, and that regular customer arrived well after we were seated. Then the regular customer got waited on, served, and was ensure they had a clean spot for them at the bar. Meanwhile, we were left off to the side. We made a decision to leave after about 15 mintues after we were seated. The waitress who seated us, just stood there as we left, no one spoke us after we were seated, and no one spoke to us while a regular customer was using intimidation and being a bully to us. We never been to this establishment and wanted to try the food. However we could not. It felt that regular customers get priority and the three staff members did nothing to help us. 15 mintues of a terrible experience. No food, no asking what we want to order, and no intervention from being bullied by a regular customer. I say regular customer because the three staff that was standing at the bar greeted him by name and so did the customer. Furthermore, the waitress that seated us new his name and took his order before ours.
Great service, decent coffee, great orange juice, and good breakfast menu. Its a little complicated to get a classic eggs and potatoes breakfast and the braised kale dish was too wet and made the bread very soggy- would be better served deconstructed. All in all a great stop, though.
Food was great, but the Sunday morning service was chaotic, haphazard, forgetful, and very slow. It took forever to get coffee. When food server forgot something, i felt humiliated by her to have the audacity to ask again. I felt shamed by her. Also no where to wait for table except to clog the doorway and annoy people. They need to hire extra help for Sunday morning. How about a few more creative egg dishes. Check out Frasers in Ottawa for some good ideas. Menu less than creative
Service was poor...Never got a 2nd empty glass so we could both drink water. Our drinks arrived after our food. And the breaded chicken sandwich was to heavy, full after eating only a quarter. On the plus side, liked the shoestring fries so maybe just order those TO GO!
Bloody Mary is not too difficult to make but it was not very good. No olives and it was very sour or vinegary to taste. Not much of a kick to it either. Had the French toast special with peaches and blueberries. It was ok. The bread for the FT was drenched in the syrup. Would be best if served dry. The fruits were pretty good and the FT itself was good, but not great. I would try the eggs first and then Id see if I replace my review.
Went here two days in a row. Wait wasnt more than 10 mins. Food takes a little long considering we got egg dishes, bit it was all delicious and my friends and I were chatting so we didnt mind. Coffee is okay, latte was definitely better. Matcha latte was very good, not too sweet. Tempeh Reuben was good, the goat cheese omelet was delicious. The shakshuka my friend got looked great but I didnt try it. The place greatly accommodates dietary and allergy needs too. My friend is celiac and they were able to offer most of the menu as a safe option. There are vegan options on the menu too.
It was about 2pm Friday afternoon and the place busy, , apparently it is the only restaurant that was open🤔 on the street. Its Woodstock NY, so expect a trendy vibe and equally trendy prices. The server was a shade clueless, maybe he was new, hopefully🤞.The items that were ordered came in a reasonable amount of time and looked well prepared. I had the Pork Chili Verde, a soup dish. Although the portion was of average size it sure was yummy, which took the pain away from the price.Brother Dave had the Brisket Reuben sandwich. He enjoyed it and said it was flavorful and equally tender. All in all, it was a nice lunch.Clean establishment and prompt service with good quality trumps the prices.😎👍, PaydayGabe from Las Vegas Nv.
In Woodstock’s overcrowded market of overpriced restaurants that think they are a bit better than they really are, this is a reliable place for delicious food and friendly service. The new Monday night Mexican special is so good and they know how to make guacamole. The chicken tortilla soup is addictive. Love the bloody Mary’s.
We got ignored after the waitress took our order, and had to flag down other staff for jam with the toast. Our tofu scramble had an off taste so we had only a few bites of it, although the coffee was great. The saving grace was when we went up to pay after sitting for too long waiting for a check, the server manning the register bought our coffee for us. Such potential, but not worth eating here, in my opinion.
Had lunch in Woodstock today at Oriole 9. Fun atmosphere, food was yummy. Had a salad which was delicious however would have liked alittle more of the beets, nuts and oranges. There was alot of lettuce. Everyone there was so friendly. My husband had a chicken sandwich that he said was delicious. Definitely recommend stopping in there for your lunch.
I’ve dined at this place several times and besides the last two times I’ve visited I’ve had an excellent experience. The waitress took five or more minutes to come over and greet us. She then answered the phone and delivered our drinks and the table sitting next to us with the phone pressed against her ear. Not only did the waitress never come back to see how everything was or if we needed anything but we had to ask not only one person but two different people to bring us utensils and the check because the waitress never returned again. We spoke with Rosie and had expressed that our server never came back. I’m not sure what her name was because we never got the chance to speak more than two words to one another. It seemed as though she was to busy on the phone in the back because we could see her on it from where we were sitting. This is the same waitress that the last time we visited had asked us how much we would be tipping.
Overall Experience: Nice breakfast/brunch place for a light affair.Items ordered: French Toast, Veggie OmletteAmbience: Contemporary setting with lots of natural lightBreadth of Items: Standard array of American breakfast/brunch items along with good options for contemporary breakfast.
The waitress was very friendly and accommodating of me and my four young children as we stopped by for lunch on a rainy Friday afternoon. My meal (smoked salmon and bagel special) was excellent and my children loved their food as well (French toast special, lentil soup and oatmeal with berries). The downsides are that I found their price points a tad expensive - much more NYC prices than Woodstock (country) prices, and the service was a little slow. But I would definitely come back again.
Worst experiance!.The food and the service was terrible. When a waitress came to take our order, she completely ignored the child with us,walked away without taking an order for his drink. When they came back,we had to ask for milk for him,it never came,we had to go to the counter to ask for it. We had to ask a 2nd time for it,it came out with the meal. His peanut butter sandwich arrived with toasted bread, which was not on menu as toasted. he hated it, we asked for untoasted bread,it came with large chunky italian bread. Its not exactly a child friendly place. Additionally, the fresh fruit we asked for to go with his sandwich had what appeared.to be the white part of the watermelon..that tasteless inedible part right near the rind. It made me think they were so desperate for cash that they served, literally watermelon rind.Disgusting.My corned beef hash appeared to be very dry and visibly burnt and overheated in a microwave. Additionally, there was a pool of grease on the plate, possibly in an effort to add some moisture.it was truly disgusting. Dried crumpled clumps of corned beef with cold pieces of potato is not what corned beef hash is supposed to be.I tried it though, and I actually had to spit it into my napkin, completely inedible. The french toast i ordered came with fruit,i specificially asked for the fruit on the side, i cant have a lot of sugar. It came with cooked peaches on top as well as whipped cream, and the french toast was overcooked, a dark brown color, also tough to cut. The waitress said what she could do was throw it on the grill to cook off the peach taste. I declined, as it would still have the sugary mess on it and it was already over cooked. I had to ask twice for butter, 3 times for syrup.when she did bring butter, she brought a single pat of butter for the table.i tried a few bites, it was ruined, with melted whipped cream soaked into it and cooked sugary peaches, and it was overcooked. So i had a meal i literally couldnt eat.I asked 3 times for napkins at the table,we finally got up to go to the counter to get them. When we left,I went to a lovely little cafe called BREAD ALONE, down the street where they made me a freshly cooked ham,egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel. It was delicious.my recommendation, save yourself money and aggravation, skip Oriole 9, just go right to Bread Alone.
My most expensive meal in Woodstock, for brunch no less! SO and I split the prosecco with 3 juice trio and each enjoyed our own plate of eggs complete with hearty slices of country toast. I enjoyed my spinach/goat cheese omelette. The good kind of goat cheese, that didnt leave a strange after taste. Topped with their chocolate mousse dessert made for a lingering, very filling meal.SO and I enjoyed playing bartender, mixing the sweet bubbly with ginger, orange juice and vanilla/hibiscus extract. I was delighted to find the hibiscus flowers edible and sweet!I got a kick seeing our orders taken on a smartphone and credit cards processed right at our tables. Ive never actually seen a restaurant do that before! Decent service and a packed room made for good people watching.Worth revisiting, if Im ever in the area again.
Wish there was more vegan options, otherwise, what they have vegan is yum, but i will support a vegan business before any other.they are kind classy and cute and sweet though.love you oriole 9 please, Gi Vegan! dear everyone!& help yourself stay healthy & help us save the planet from global warming! Love you!
When you pay $2 for a few slices of avacado on your $15 salad, it better not be brown. I once ordered a french toast. It cost me $13 for a black mess with fake syrup on it. I have been repeatedly dissapointed by the food here and the prices are so excessive. Totally overrated and almost always super crowded for brunch. Skip it.
Been coming here for 9 years now, and always have my lunch at oriole 9. Noticed changes with new owners, didnt like as much. Had lunch today and think i will have to find another place. Sat for 10min and finally had to ask for sever(no, it was not busy)Chicken sandwich was even messier than usual with enough dressing to choke a horse.Did not like wine, sent back and got another. Was charged for both. Most better restaurants will not charge. I only took a few sips. The service was slow and i always had to ask for everything.I spent 24yrs in the business and am usually very undetstanding . Sit for a while and read but leave generous tip, if check is 30, i leave $10 or more for good service. So, unfortunately, this server only got 18%.Dont know if ill go back which is a shame, after all these years. After buying book at bookstore, i always go there for my lunch on my first day.Almost always had good service before.
I really don’t understand my last experience at Oriole 9, which was at the Take Out area about 3 weeks ago. I should preface this by saying that this had been one of our favorite breakfast and dinner places to go as locals. There was a sign saying that Masks must be worn into the Take Out area. So I arrive, and watch a conversation of about 3 min. between a customer ( no mask) and server ( mask).I’m wondering why she doesn’t tell him he needs a mask.I ask to speak to the manager. The server is rude to me. After misdirecting me as to the managers whereabouts, I find her and ask her why there is a sign saying that masks should be worn if they don’t enforce it.The manager tells me she can’t control what people do. She says they prefer people wear masks. I ask why the sign doesn’t say that. She tells me the incident is now in the past; there’s nothing she can do about it, turns, and walks away. Rude.We haven’t been back.

2021-11-21Had a lunch here on a bustling cold November day in Woodstock after having hiked the Kaaterskill falls trail nearby. Restaurant was very busy, yet we were seated within about 10min. Service was super friendly and the 4 of us easily found choices on the menu that suited our taste. The food came out hot and very tasty. The fries got a lot of positive nods and so did the salads. Recommend.

2022-01-15A nice place for a local beer! Their trout is delicious and I highly recommend this dish. The menu is diverse but the day I’ve been there they could not make a few dishes from it. It’s still a good place to stop by .

2021-12-12I went on a Saturday around two it seemed a bit busy but there were seats. Theres some free parking in the back but when we got there it was all full. Overall I had a decent experience. The hostess was very nice and attentive. I ordered an eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, I was a bit disappointed that the eggs were over cooked. My partner ordered a tofu scramble... It was okay could use a bit more flavoring.

2021-11-10Let’s start here - I AM A REAL PERSON, yup nothing fake. It would be easy and simple to say I was in Woodstock NY for three days and ate at the Oriole 9 twice, but hey it wouldnt be a real review. Im not sure what is going on these days with some people who are eating out, but if you havent noticed the pandemic has taken straight aim at restaurants - short staffed or staff having to pull double shifts so let’s cut some slack. Oh, and a reminder - yea Woodstock NY may be peace and love, but it is expensive everywhere you shop and eat. Now back to O9 service and food.Everybody at Oriole 9 was nice. Friendly. Helpful. Accommodating. Funny. Professional. All this with a smile by the waitresses and bus-persons. The food is simply great, which fills the place with people - and, ready? People talk... yup there you have it. This place is always packed for a reason - fresh food perfectly prepared and/or cooked, with a splash of inventiveness, and plenty of options.Entering around closing time, we were seated and waited on by Brook (two weeks and I still remember Brook). End of the day, double shift and she had the patience’s of an angel in getting us familiarize with the menu. Day one was freshly prepared salsa and guacamole, Classic Cheddar Burger lettuce tomato and onions, vegan-burger, fries, soy-milk latte and (I almost fainted!) Vietnamese Coffee - Forgetaboutit! The guac was a perfect blend of flavors - no over seasoning or too much lime/lemon. Both burgers were off the hook tasty, moist, and flavorful. the Fries were hot, lots of potato and a nice crust. The coffees were so delicious we ordered our seconds immediately.Day two was great coffee (see above), fresh and plentiful loxs and bagel, and real (yup theres that word again) corned beef hash. I love hash and I am always looking for something different and Oriole 9 delivered. Corned beef was cubed, eggs cooked to order, onions tender and the spices spot on. For the most part the cubes melted in your mouth, but an occasional fatty piece made chewing tough, but overall, the taste was off the hook.In planning for our next Woodstock NY trip, we will be heading immediately to Oriole 9, making sure it is a Friday Saturday or Sunday to see Brook!

2021-10-17The food was fantastic. I would recommend going at an off time. It was so loud that you can barely hear the person sitting with you (this was Sunday brunch). Highly recommend the huevos rancheros. They were very tasty.

2021-08-17This lovely little spot was perfect for brunch. We were waiting for quite a while for a hostess, but once they came we were all set! The drink menu was expansive and very fun- it was hard to choose between a cocktail or one of their lattes! I ended up choosing the “robins egg mimosa” which was such a delight. My brother got the cold brew with baileys which he thought was amazing! The rest of the mess were very yummy. Only note on the food was that the corned beef hash was a little unique- big chunks of steak instead of smaller ones, but my dad still enjoyed it. Definitely a nice place to stop by!

2021-07-25Very delicious for some breakfast food! We ordered a variety of different drinks: hot chocolate, iced lattes, cold brews and then ordered breakfast. A majority of us got the egg Benedict’s which was very delicious and we shared some French toast. Love the open layout and vibes! Follow me on IG: traveling.pharmacistt

2022-05-10Really tasty breakfast destination. Excellent coffee. Good and stout. While a little limited in options, they all looked tasty. I had the corned beef hash, and the table had huevos rancheros, a breakfast sandwich, and cinnamon roll. All were good.

2021-01-18Ive ordered from this place a few times and everything is always delicious! Great food! Dining room is eloquent and staff is super friendly. One of my favorite Woodstock restaurants. I highly recommend! This time I got the trout tacos and they really exceeded my expectations! Nice big tacos and the fish is seasoned wonderfully! Anyone reading should definitely try them!
