Books are always great!
The OPL is an awesome library up until about 3pm every day; 5 stars. Its well managed , well maintained and contains a great staff of friendly folks dedicated to the job.However, come 3pm every school day, things decline rapidly. The second floor turns into a latch key junior high school meeting spot. For over a year, the same kids show up; and yell and laugh and clown in their own private room by the rest room. The noise can be heard throughout the second floor and beyond where visitors at the tables are trying to read, or work, or concentrate on both. Impossible to do with this loud distraction.Sadly, no one from the library intervenes. My observation over the past year, is the staff has given up. A rock and a hard place.But what is the point of having cell phone limitations and noise control among the tables in the reading rooms if there is zero adherence to any type of quiet whatsoever by the latch key teens in their own private meeting room? Limit cell phone use to the cafe level? Really?No doubt the teens parents think their sons and daughters are at the library doing what? Homework? Reading? Studying? Not even close. Parents, come sit and listen and watch.OPL receives 5 star review up until 3pm. After 3 until the teens leave? Barely a one star. Its a convenient baby-sitting spot for working parents.
Had my taxes done there. It was quiet and clean. Everyone was friendly and very helpful.
I love the way the library is practicing Covid-19 protocol. And I hope they dont ever take away curbside pick up

2022-05-19Best place to go for many things. If you wanna bring your kids? They have amazing people to tutor them. Events that are engaging? Ask the front desk for information and they give you the full layout. You can even eat in the Cafe downstairs. I highly suggest coming here for, not only books but a great day of seeing what Ossining has to offer!

2019-06-07Has a calendar full activities which create and encourage community.Just to mention some notable ones; they present wonderful art exhibits from local artists. 2020-06-16I’ve been using this library for years.. like almost 40! HUGE selection and gorgeous building makes it a go-to! There are comfy seats to read in a pleasant quiet , large environment. All of the staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Never a scowling librarian here! Thank you for being awesome to everyone human of all ages !

2021-03-12When we move to Ossining NY in 2015 we were happy to be in walking distance from the library. But after going there for some time we stopped because the staff talks too loudly especially those who are hanging around the counter. Structurally inept since the top floor looks right down into the childrens library and the sound travel upwards.And the library has no email notices about the DVD due date which we are used to having. We had to pay fines for the overdues many times. The White Plains library, where we lived, in 2016 was able to send email notices. Both libraries are connected to the same system. The Parr Library where we now go has automatic renewal for library materials.

2017-10-28Magnificent architecture with panoramic views of the Hudson from the top floor. Helpful staff. Lots of quiet nooks for reading. Plus, they have a lecture theatre which you can rent for a small fee. My local library. Love it!!!!

2020-05-08Amazing library! They even have a teens room for pre-teens, teens, even adults there, full of computers, books, especially manga, and sometimes a playstation, switch, or Wii for everyone to play. Ive also enjoyed the views from the windows every time Ive visited. Been here since I was a child.

2016-01-21It is a great place to study and research. The staff are friendly and make a effort to assist you searching for books. Furthermore, the upper tier of the library has a majestic view of the Hudson River.
