Osteria Morini in other cities:
Unfortunately my experience with this place was underwhelming. I’ve heard beautiful reviews and comments, to only come here for an below average pasta.I started with skewers both steak and shrimp. The steak skewers were over cooked and shrimp were so salty I couldn’t taste the shrimp or scallops at all.We also ordered meatballs that were very good. The pasta was…. Disappointing. Unfortunately. Hard uncooked carrots and celery in combination with canned tomatoes tasted meh.Raw shaved garlic is too much.Unfortunately if sometime in the past it was good it’s not very surprising anymore.
I had a delicious charcuterie/cheese and wine dinner here after hearing about it on the Anthony Bourdain Emilia Romagna episode. Definitely high quality and I appreciated all the accompaniments (strawberry jam, different spreads-I got a smoked fish one). A little pricey but I did end up getting leftovers from it.
Really delicious food! all of it was completely made from scratch. this really makes a different for pasta! the atmosphere is so nice and intimate! the service started out really amazing but as they got busier our waitress sort of forgot about us which was frustrating because we had somewhere else to be. we even had to ask a different waitress for our check. other than that we enjoyed our time! she even put a candle in the dessert for a birthday!
We recommended this restaurant to friends and this was their txt the next morning:“We went to Osteria and well… I think it has gone downhill since you were last there.. Food was good, wine was great…. XXX and I woke up with food poisoning in middle of the night. And don’t sit on the patio, we had rats running across our feet throughout the meal. “
No flavor at all🤦🏻♂️How can people come and eat here ?? It’s not authentic Italian food at all,The meatballs have no flavor the sauce has no flavored the meat is dry,,I feel they should stay doing there own food from there country with all respect!!! It’s like if you put Italians to do authentic Mexican food,,,it will never work..horrible food…
We had reserved for brunch and managed to get there early which seemed right before rush hour. They took a bit of time getting to us but the waitress apologized as she took our orders. We ordered the artichokes, burrata, classic pizza and spaghetti meatballs. The experience and service went down hill from there: the food came out all together but everything had different temperatures, we were only given a glass of water for each person without a water pitcher like everyone else had or anyone noticing our glasses were low/empty. After our food was packed up we were approached with the total to pay without even seeing the check or being asked how everything was or if we wanted anything else. We hadn’t even been there the max time allowed for each sitting. When reviewing the check we discovered the spaghetti meatballs was $31 even though the paper and website menu said $27, and the window menu said $25, but when mentioned we were told that the meatballs had an extra fee which was not stated anywhere on the menu or mentioned when we ordered it. They did correct it but their attitude changed after that and made us feel like we were being difficult.Food was okay but over-priced and service was so-so. Will probably not be coming back here again.
[Delivery] Food is good. Twice in a row they have forgotten half of my order and I had to call. Both times it took over an hour to get the second part delivered (despite being told it was ready in the kitchen when I called). Vastly not worth the hassle and frustration
Ambiance was great, staff was very friendly. Drinks were average. We got the crispy artichoke which were great. We got three pastas, rigatoni, garganelli, and the Pappardelle. The rigatoni was average, the Pappardelle was overcooked, sauce was good though. The garganelli was the crowd favorite for sure.Dessert was kind of weird though. The blood Orange Vanilla sorbet was really just Italian ice, and the biscotti turned out to just be chocolate chip cookies. Both were good in their own right, but its not really what we expected when we ordered it.
Service was impeccable! We arrived a little early, but they were able to seat us quickly. Every single server we interacted with was so nice and helpful.Pasta was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The fish was very tender, yet the skin was a delightful crispiness that had a punch of seasoning that went well. Even the starter bread was so good we asked for more (and you should, too!)Cocktails were also made extremely well. All-in-all a great evening out.
I forgot how good this place is, since i left NYC in 2013 and moved back to LA after a nine-year stint here. but i shouldnt be surprised, because this was a place started by michael white, who also was behind marea,in my mind, osteria morini is just a great example of modern italian cuisine, being innovative without being pretentious. the pastas have a nod to tradition but are different enough to have their own identity. i had the fusilli, and it was the perfect portion, with lots of flavor and great balance between the different ingredients.in the past i have had the steak for two (shared among the table) and that was perfectly cooked to medium rare, as requested.their romana salad (their take on a caesar) might have been one of the more impressive caesars i have ever had. instead of having large croutons, they had something that looked like large peppercorns but tasted like croutons (i guess those are the garlic breadcrumbs they reference in the menu).service was prompt but not obtrusive or rushed in any way.will definitely be back. i remember going to this place many years ago when i was still living in NYC, and the fact that it is still around tells you something. thats an accomplishment in NYC.
Went to eat here with a few friends. As a fan of Michael White I was really disappointed with the quality of our food. Tagliatelle with fennel sausage and rapini pesto absolutely flavourless way too much meat compared to the amount of pasta. Garganelli with peas, prosciutto and truffle cream was awful. The sauce tasted like a jarred supermarket grade. The veal cutlet tasted like dirty and old fryer oil and was equally bad. Overall very underwhelming food. Incredibly disappointed.
Food was amazing, they came out all at the same time, appetizers together, mains together followed by desert, which was nice since the weather is cold and the food gets cold easily.Had the tomahawk dry aged steak was not the best Ive had but I still really good. Chicken parm and calamari (must try) were also delicious. Pizza was a little on the heavy side.Overall very nice experience
Authentic Italian food and dining outside of my kitchen is very important to me. I enjoy peasant food if its prepared correctly and served well. But every once in a while I have to go to a place like Morini to enjoy creative and special Italian food from people who obviously enjoy creating it and serving it. Do not hesitate and go to Morini for a great dining experience. These pictures show what I enjoyed for lunch/early dinner. The staff encouraged me to pace myself and I had my version of soup to nuts over the course of 2+ hours. Ill be back as soon as I am able.
Can’t say enough great things! Came in from Boston worried I wouldn’t be impressed with much here. From the service, Allegra our bartender!!, to the amazing fresh pastas and entrees and drinks! One of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time.EDIT FOR COVID TIMES! Amazing. Outdoor dining was perfect. So well taken care of… I can’t say enough good things. Thank you!!!
Osteria Morini is always a safe bet if youre looking for solid Italian food. Their brunch offers delicious bloody Marys, pastas, and typical brunch fare. The large pancake was the perfect mix of savory and sweet. In addition to brunch, I highly recommend trying their ~120 day dry-aged steak which is offered on the first Wednesday of every month. Other must-try dishes include the fusilli and squid ink pastas. In short, I do recommend this and will be returning.
Made reservations for lunch and the servers made sure our meal felt special. Great pasta, decent wine list, and olive oil lemon gelato for dessert. 5 star recommendation all the way. They take the meat and cheese plates very serious here, not the standard fare at all.
This is one of my favorite places. Haven’t had a single pasta here I didn’t love (and I’ve tried a lot of them). It’s a place that doesn’t try too hard, and it’s easier to get a reservation than it should be in my opinion, but I’m definitely not complaining. It’s just the best.
Ive been here many times and I was surprised with the disappointment tonight. We ordered the Gramigna pasta dish (which Ive ordered previously) however it was immensely overly salted and you cant taste any flavour in the dish.To add to the bad main course, we ordered tiramisu at the end and it was heavy and dense. You could only taste the overly whipped heavy cream and no mascarpone. In fact, the dessert looked like a slab of heavy cream on top of the ladyfingers. This is truly a disappointing experience.
The food and bar were very good. The menu is creative. I really enjoyed their caceo e pepe salad and their meatball appetizer. Their lasagna was excellent and unique. The brussel sprouts were passable. The bartender did a great job with the cocktails.Other than the brussel sprouts, the only thing that wasnt 5 star was the attitude of some of the people who worked there. Nothing terribly wrong, but not quite the warm, welcoming service that gets me to give a 5 star review.I probably will go again, and I will recommend this restaurant. But not quite 5 stars.
I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The food is mostly excellent, but the service is at times arrogant and dismissive. The ambience is laid back and rustic, but thats not reflected in staff attitude. We had an early reservation and were one of the first tables to be seated for dinner service. We were asked when sitting down whether we wanted to check our coats, and we declined. My husband was then told abruptly to put his light jacket on the bench next to me due to space constraints. Okkkk. We then watched diners at literally every table seated after us put their jackets over the chairs with no comment from the staff. In addition, service was at times cold and uninterested. The meatballs and lasagna were excellent, the brussel sprouts a bit bland and boiled tasting. If service attitude improves, this restaurant would merit 5 stars.
By far one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Have been here several times and highly recommend all of the pasta dishes, and also recommend coming in on a late Monday night to enjoy their pasta specials for a lower price if you’re looking to save a little $$.I have to call out the exceptional service as well, my boyfriend and I recently came here to celebrate our anniversary and had requested a specific table. When we checked in with the hosts, they were happy to have held onto the table for us! We felt especially welcomed when our waitress delivered some complimentary wine to celebrate and our dessert came out with a candle.Overall Osteria Moroni has great food, service, and ambience. I wouldn’t recommend for large groups over 8ish, as there isn’t a huge amount of space in the restaurant and it could feel cramped with a larger party.
Excellent service at this restaurant and they were very careful to follow COVID precautions (employees with masks, hand sanitizer readily available, plenty of outdoor seating). The pasta is homemade, fresh, and tastes amazing! I recommend the Fusilli and the Spaghetti and Meatballs.
Simply splendid! Try the squid ink pasta, and make sure to ask the wine director for suggestions on pairing with the dish, as well as your companion’s entrée. In fact, this was the apex of the meal, as the pasta was more on the tomato-based side, then the creamy side, as I’ve enjoyed at other establishments. Further, and my experiences with authentic Italian, the pasta is much thinner than what we had here. However, I would certainly suggest making this a destination spot, if you find yourself in Manhattan.
Pasta night special on Monday after 9! Meals are 12 dollars per pasta and you cant beat that. Especially in nyc.Ordered 4 pasta for 2 people ( no judgments) and enjoyed all of them minus the rigatoni. (Too salty) Overall, a great place with friends or even a first date.
This restaurant is absolutely fabulous. I went for lunch but ambiance should be quite nicer for dinner. I ordered an amazing Cesar Salad. Better than my husband’s, which has been my favorite forever. Then I had the ricotta filled tortellinis with butter and truffle sauce. Really loved it! I plan to come back to NY for New Year’s Even and most definitely will bring my fam here.
Visited here for the first time. Service was fantastic and atmosphere very warming and cozy. We started with the parmesan whipped cheese and procuitto and salami. For dinner I ordered the ricotta short rib gnocchi and LOVED it. They make their pasta in house. Great cocktails. Very busy on the weekends.
Went here to grab some drinks at the bar. They said there’s no space on the bar for two so one of us needs to stand. Even though there’s enough space for two chairs on the end of the bar. Servers didn’t even notice us for a couple of minutes we have to ask for the wine menu because their just passing by us. Got the menu my boyfriend got a glass of red wine $19 while I got a cocktails for $19. For a one cocktail and one glass of wine took 15-18 mins. It’s just a glass of wine and a cocktail. The cocktail was bad and it doesn’t even have a garnish to make it look nice I paid $19 for it. Just a waste of money. The total of our bill is $40 so expensive service was bad and hostess is kinda rude. Bad first expression not gonna comeback. Still left a good tip.I don’t recommend going here if two drinks took so long imagine the food.
Probably one of the best pasta places in the city, however the service was n kind, not letting the baby stroller and asking some people to leave the coat with them and some taking them out to their coat service. The desserts are horrible, we had a chocolate cake that either was bad with extra baking soda or its just bad.
This place was pretty good but honestly I was a little disappointed. The deli meats were amazing. Both the wine recommendations and drink selection were top notch. One of the pastas was very good but the garganelli with cream sauce topped with white truffles left a lot to be desired. It was also a $60 pasta. You will definitely need a reservation. I should also say that the service we received was excellent. Its just this is New York City and unless the food is all WOW you cant get 5 stars.
The food is very good. I enjoyed my sea scallops immensely. The room is dark with an elegant casualness to it. The service was very slow and there were issues with our check which took over an hour to resolve. Would consider going back though since the food was great.
Kinda like an Emilia-Romagna Osteria (but not really).I mean, they *try*, and its about as good as you might get in NYC. Its just that, in the end, it really isnt the Actual Thing. Oh the food is really quite good, its just that the pieces just dont come together as well as they could.• The bar is a nice place to hang out at, but the bartenders arent *fun*. Theyre nice, but not in a bond with you kinda way• The food is good, really quite good, but in a bland/impersonal kinda way. Which probably has more to do with the wait-staff, all of whom are very nice, but, *but*, in Emilia Romagna, theyd probably treat stuff as if *they* made it, and thats not what you get here• Ditto with the ambience - its a little too kitschMe, I go there to remind myself of what the real thing is like - theres just enough there that I can pretend...
Favorite spot in Soho💓. High quality food, hight quality drinks, high quality service, cozy atmosphere - it is such a gem for NYC 💓. It has become one of our favorite spot for anytime eating, snacking, and relaxing. When it’s just 2 of us, we love seating at the bar (in photograph) and have all food recommended because it never disappoints. 💓 It’s good for any occasion or any moment. 💓. Cheers 💓
Cacio Pepe salad (similar to a Ceasar) was excellent. So were the Tagliatelle Bolognese and the Fusili with pork shoulder ragu. Overall their ragu game is on point and that alone is worth a second visit (perhaps tomorrow?). Also the negroni flight was great. All three varieties (rum, bourbon, mezcal) were spot on and none had gin 😮...so props to them for breaking with tradition.
Absolutely delicious food. Our rigatoni was incredible, the pizza was wayyyy bigger than we expected, we had to take some home. Our server was amazing, very attentive and friendly even though they were busy. All of our questions were answered and our food came very quick. The cocktail sea wolf was fine, we enjoyed the glass of Sangiovese a little bit more. Overall this was a wonderful experience, looking forward to dining here again.
Osteria Morini is a cute restaurant, with interesting pasta dishes. If you expect to eat simple pasta or simple italian food, you should not go there as their dishes are quite unique. For instance this is in not regular mozzarella di Buffalo, or I ordered Raviolo with crab and it was just on big raviolo. It was delicious though. Although I expected multiple raviolis, but if you speak Italian you would probably understand the difference between Raviolo and Ravioli. If you want to experiment and eat good food, check the place out.
I wanted to like this place more than I did, based on personal recommendations. Our waiter ghosted us, which is annoying. Is there a dessert menu? I wouldnt know because nobody offered one. We enjoyed the food, but for these prices, the portions are too small, even for NYC.I tipped 20% bc the other staff were competent and I didnt want to be petty. I should have been petty. We wont be back.
My neighbors took me here for a lovely lunch today. The restaurant’s atmosphere is very friendly and everyone who works here is smiling. We were not rushed, but were attended to seamlessly. The food was fantastic. My pasta Bolognese portion was very large and could have easily fed two people (I wanted to eat the whole thing because it was so delicious but I had to stop)! My friends ordered other dishes that were equally delicious and well presented.Megan, the manager, came over and engaged us in a very fun chat about food in Italy and the good life. I will certainly be returning with other friends for both the food and the ambience. I recommend it highly
The pasta was amazing! I had the Fusilli and my girlfriend had the tagliatelle. By far the best pasta we have had in NYC and would highly recommend to anyone. Great spot to bring a date and enjoy a romantic dinner with a cocktail or two. Can be a little noisy, but still a fun atmosphere. Solid location and our first experience was awesome!
This place was recommended by a friend as amazing so we came in wanting to love it but honestly the service ruined the entire experience. The restaurant was rude about seating us and constantly tried to rush is through our meal, including suggesting we “box appetizers” that weren’t finished. For the money paid, really disappointing
Ate here with friends last night. hands down my favorite spot in Manhattan for Italian. Even with a full house, we felt like we were cared for with incredible detail. Even people cleaning tables would stop, just to make sure our waters were always full. That kind of attention to detail is absolutely appreciated. Same goes for our server noticing that our utensils were dirty and changing them without hesitation. As far as the food goes, every single dish was outstanding. Every pasta dish we had consistently delivered a distinct quality and flavor profile. Also, the drinks were super tasty too! I needed to have two of the Honeycrisps, and even had a taste of their Rosé sherbet for dessert. I likely wont go anywhere else for Italian when Im in NYC until Ive had everything on their menu. Well be back.
Everything is great here, especially the Capeletti! One complain after the pandemic is the online menu that allow you to check out your order instead of ordering to the waiters. Since its not encouraged by the restaurant, this option shouldnt be available at the website. Very confusing!Apart from that, definitely worth the try!
Went here after months of checking it out! Booked a reservation which was pretty easy. The service is formal yet relaxed, the staff know their stuff. Wine was delicious, had the truffle pasta after seeing it all over Instagram - was delicious and the portions were big but not obnoxious. Partner had the braised rib ravioli - so flavorful and yummy. Each dish is packed with its own rich flavors, I don’t think there’s a bad thing on the menu. I went with my boo, but there were lots of families with small children so it seems great for all groups!
Its such an amazing place with delicious foods. I went for the lunch special and had a nice quiet meal since it wasnt too crowded. You arent allowed to bring in drinks from outside but they will put it in a cup for you. I recommend sitting at the bar so you get more room to yourself. As an added bonus, the bartender was nice enough to give me some of their freshly baked bread. Very tasty☺
Nice atmosphere. The appetizers were great and the selection of wines was impressive. That said, the mains were tasteless and pricey. The plates were scalding, they felt like they were sitting under a heat lamp for 15 minutes. The first taste was so hot that it seared my palate. Would never go back. For this kind of Manhattan experience one would expect the price but the food is just not worth it when there are so many great regional Italian restaurants around.
The food was superb. Not that terribly expensive for a five-star Michelin guide restaurant. Both chefs are handsome and extraordinary. Ones name is Barrett. The wait staff was beautiful sophisticated and elegant. Stick with the cocktails. You get a much better deal than dealing with the wines. I am very very picky. And I absolutely love and adore this place
Pretty good seems to sum it up well. Food was tasty but not overwhelmingly so. Wine list is interesting and pretty extensive, but the grapes are fairly unknown, which can make it difficult for most to pick out a wine. The atmosphere is nice and servers were mostly helpful. Not a bad option overall.
Oh man. This place...I love Italian food. The Gramigna here is the best I have ever had in my life. The Gnocchi is amazing. The wine list is good and the servers know their stuff. The bar is reasonably well-stocked and the bartender knows her stuff. This might be my favorite Italian restaurant on the east coast.
Great great food! I wanted homemade pasta so came across this restaurant. Everything we ate was great! The bread was so good. We got a starter of prosciutto with grilled bread-fantastic. I ordered the gnocchi and my husband got the lamb and they were the best weve ever had! The gnocchi portion size was smaller than I expected, but in this case that was fine by me! The prosciutto and bread had helped to fill me up. But if you are coming here super hungry and are just realizing on the gnocchi, you might still be hungry. My husbands lamb meal was a very generous portion size-he was happy! We hope to come back next time were in NYC!
We used to go here every week (pre-kids) and were so excited to take our girls here tonight. Nothing disappointed us. The food (we got the tomahawk, truffle pasta, fusilli, meatballs and meat & cheese plate), service and outdoor setup was excellent. We cant wait to go back!
Worst restaurant on long island , Philip the manager is very Rude, front concierge girls are extremely rude who speak with their hands, very unprofessional. If you want True Italian go to Il Mulino or go to Ruth’s Chris for some Steak , Nice place when first opened up..very Sad
A great Italian place should do basics superbly. Their Bolognese is simply excellent, love it, and keep going back to it, although their other stuff and daily menus have never disappointed either. Desserts are great too, some classics and some creations by their chefs, a true 5-star place!
Nice dinner at the bar with friendly / helpful service. All freshly prepared seafood and house made pastas were well done. Never received any offer of bread? Desserts were flavorful, simple and refined. The pasta portions were small as I could have eaten two . . . increase the portions by at least 50% please!
We went with our family to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and this place did not disappoint. EVERYTHING was amazing. The cheese is so fresh and delicious. We shared a pasta and veal cutlet -- both so good. Ive been to Italy and this is some of the best Italian food Ive ever had. The restaurant itslef is small and cozy. The staff was super nice and helpful and they brought us a little gelato and cookie to celebrate! Cant wait to go back!
Came here for a late lunch. The food is inoffensive but not memorable.$22 for lunch pasta is fine. I got the pasta with truffle butter, cream, radicchio and prosciutto. The radicchio was a bit of an odd addition, and there was barely a hint of truffles. The pasta itself was cooked well and had a good.Overall, not a bad choice but not entirely worth repeating.
DeliciousYa that place really brings it I think. Just super tasty stuff. Surprisingly good I think. Like it seems like simply pasta dishes shouldnt be have that much difference from one restaurant to the next, but this place brings the good. Theres also a half off on Monday evenings after 9 PM deal, which is good and nice. Its a little pricey otherwise.
An Italian place like few others. The menu and wine list are over the top. Be sure and not miss the antipasto course. The first course offers more variety than most Italian places. Reservations nay be difficult, book early. If the party is larger than 4 an early booking is a must.
The best thing about this restaurant besides the fantastic food is the Monday night pasta special, where any pasta on the menu is only $10 after 9 pm. The portions were the perfect size (not overwhelmingly big) and they have GF pasta! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, feels cozy & homey.
Great food! Go immediately! The squash flowers with cheese were amazing. All four of us had pasta. Perfect portion size and perfectly cooked pasta. The sauce on all of them were amazing. There are reasonably priced wines on the menu. And, they have #lambrusco which I dont find too often. The service was good. Had a fun vibe. We didnt have reservations, and at 7 on a Friday, only had to wait about 10 minutes. The table was by the bar, but we really enjoyed it. The main part of the restaurant was crowded. They do take reservations and are on OpenTable, so I would suggest making a reservation. Happy eating!
Showed up at 4:45 on Sunday with the understanding that the dining room did not open until five. Fine we walk in party of four. Weve been there a few times before. I notice about half of the tables in the dining room are occupied. Told the young hostess party of four and she I can only sit you near the bar. I said what about the dining room I see you have already sat people there? She said those people are there from lunch and we cannot seat until 5. I said it opens in 15 minutes and you already have waitresses working those tables I see one right now at a table. She said no sorry bar only. The most ridiculous response having been in the restaurant business for over 30 years that a hostess could possibly say. Letting a party of four walk out the door is a lot of money I dont care how well your restaurant may or may not be doing. This hostess needs to be trained and the manager needs to be scolded for not training properly.
We went last night for the first time. We loved it: the ambience, and the service, but above all the food, very tasty. The only negative aspect of it would be the size of the servings compared to their price. I dont mind paying for a good meal, but it becomes pricey if the amount of the serving is more towards the small size. Definitely, if you want to avoid the latter do not go for pasta. We had pasta and meat, I had to donate pieces of my breaded lamb chop.In summary, a repeat. We would go again.
We live locally from the Lafayette restaurant and stopped in tonight for an easy meal. We sat at the bar and the bartender was not attentive. She waited on people who arrived after us. We ordered an appetizer which was delicious and came in a timely manner and though our bartender brought our wine after serving at least a dozen other customers. They delivered our main courses 20 minutes apart, one of which was supposed to be warm. It arrived late and luke warm with vegetables that were almost raw. It was clearly sitting at their pick up for some time. The contorni of vegetables was also barely warm and barely cooked. No apologies from the staff for terrible service. We were too polite to cancel or complain. If you decide to eat here, order pasta or salad and be done. Were sad because its local for us.
We were in a hurry for lunch. Server asked if I had dietary restrictions and I said dairy. My friend ordered her burger well done. We were in a rush to get to the airport, so there was no time for do overs. My salad had dairy in the dressing, even after our server said it was only a vinegarette. My squid ink pasta may have had dairy in the sauce(?) but did not say so on the menu. My friends burger was totally raw and bloody in the center. She could only eat the edges. I have been sick off work the entire day after with stomach issues. I would skip this place.
It was first time to visit for dinner. We could take a take without reservation.we ordered appetizers and 2 pastas and wine. food is ok and no problem. But after come back home, I tumbled and tossed from stomachache. Also, I had diarrhea and vomit all night.I have no idea the food is something wrong. My friend told to complain the restraunt but didt yet.not bad but was bad for me. recommend go other restraurnt.
Great Italian in the heart of NYC, we arrived early to a virtually empty restaurant, were asked if wed booked (we hadnt) and were shown a table close to the bar and entrance, whilst we were enjoying the best food we had had in 3 weeks in the US it was fascinating to see the restaurant slowly fill up, mainly with locals, and disappointed punters being turned away. Great food thoroughly enjoyable if a little expensive. Make sure you book!
We went on a Monday without knowing it is $10 pasta night! We splurged and ordered three :) they were cooked just right (al dente) and you could definitely tell everything was made from scratch. I like that the dishes were not too heavy yet they were rich in flavor. The service was excellent.
One of the worst experinces!Friday night we sat at the bar and the service was bad and we couldn’t enjoy the dinner properly and we left the place totally annoyed.I ordered the Veal from the menu and when I confirmed what I would like to enjoy the server confirmed my order. 15 minutes later I received the Chicken. When I made my claim the server was upset and she picked up the plate claiming she confirmed I ordered the chicken. She was then caarrying on with the other staff saying it was my mistake vs hers. Also, and after all, we were waiting several minutes with the empty glass because they never refilled with the bottle of wine we ordered that was chilling at the fridge. We needed to ask twice to refill our glass of wine and they were walking around and not caring about the customer. We will never going back to this place and do not recommend dining at the bar.
My party of two arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday to find the restaurant fairly empty. We were quickly seated at a table and began our meal.We ordered:- Burger: The burger was moist and cooked perfect to a medium rare. It had a good taste of beefiness. My only complaint is that it could have had a bit more taste and they could have served the patty on a more quality bun.- Salmon Benedict: This dish was first aesthetically pleasing and so delicious. It came with a generous portion of three benedicts, which is unheard of. The combination of flavors was great and the hollandaise was one of the best Ive had.- Squid ink pasta: The pasta was the most flavorful of the dishes. The pasta was cooked al dente, and the sauce was similar to a bolongnase. This was my favorite of the three dishes.Overall, this place had great brunch options and the food was good! My only complaint is that we were seated in the middle of the dining room where my seat was constantly hit as customers and the waitstaff kept passing by.
Super recommended!!! We love great food and I am surprised to say that this place blew us away!! Everything was just amazing! Starting with the fresh mista salad with a bloody mary then on to the amazing burger with parmesan onion rings and an amazing truffle pasta. We sat at the chefs bar and saw them making a salted caramel stuffed donuts desert and couldnt resist... and they were jusr delicious!!!
Monday is Pasta Night after 9 pm. I am sure all the workers hate it but as a guest I love it. All of the pastas are 10 dollars and they are delicious. The only two that arent included are the lasagna and the risotto. The space is rustic but chic. Its cozy but still elegant enough to have a special night. The focaccia that comes at the beginning of the meal is fluffy and tender. You dont need any oil but remember to save some because you will want it to soak up every bite of sauce.
Ok this place is nice and the food tastes great. But you must be aware that the size of the dish are so small that it is ridiculous. I had the caponetti (their best ) and I could count barely 10 raviolis in my plate . Go their only if you are looking for a very small bite. If youre hungry find another place.
The food and service were excellent though a little pricey and a little cramped, even for Manhattan.ONE MAJOR ISSUE.When I was there I used a credit card I had not used in over a month. Almost immediatley after I left someone was trying to hack into my online credit card account! The next afternoon I called the restaruant, which is part of a group, to advise management. I was given the runaround by 3 people and was told that a manager would return my call. No one ever did.If you are going there pay cash.
I order the fusili on caviar 3x a week.. best pasta find on caviar.. I also ask for breadcrumbs to add to the top.. now the chef just recognizes my order and adds the breadcrumbs without me calling.. great service**edit: not only is food on point everytime, but two times ago they gave me 10 balls of cookie dough with a nice note as a gift for coming so frequently.. savored every last one.. customer for life
Good spot for groups, good service and decent prices. However, the food was hit or miss unfortunately. We ordered the farfalle with tomato basil sauce and tagliatelle with their famous ragu. For both the pasta was perfectly done, very al dente (just the way I like it!). However the sauces were just okay. Nothing spectacular or memorable. The ragu had some herb or spice that gave it a unique taste but Im more of the typical ragu taste type, I dont love it when they try to be fancy. We also ordered the beef carpaccio, which was also just okay...I wouldnt order it again though. As for dessert, the tiramisu was super underwhelming. Way too heavy of an alcohol taste.Overall, Im glad I tried this place and its in a good location in soho. But I wouldnt crave to come back.
Price above is for lunch with two glasses of wine and coffee. Lunch is $25 each for two course menu. The food was fabulous: short rib ravioli, special meat balls, wonderful porchetta and great unusual sliders. We had a delightful wait person and felt we had found a great place that we will return to. It was my birthday and my friend and I try all restaurants for lunch. This is our third Michael White. He is terrific.
The portion size for my $20 entree was a joke. Like 5 bites. While the food was tasty, this was the only time I was so angry with a restaurant that I was tempted to chuck my plate at the kitchen. Never in my life had I been to an Italian restaurant, and had to ask for 3 baskets of bread in order to feel somewhat full.I wouldve been more understanding if the waitress warned me it would be small, or if this was obviously an uber fancy table-cloth place, but it looked very casual. If the portion was like 10x what it was, then Id re-consider my 1-star rating to 4 or 5 stars. (this was for some squid-ink pasta)
We had dinner on September 10th Saturday night. Excellent home made pasta dishes as well ad inventive main dishes. I had the special fish Orata with roasted corn and herbs. It was excellent. My husband had the Berkshire Roasted port which was very tasty. We shared a home made pasta dish. It as excellent. The pasta dishes are small so it is good to start as an appertiser.
We started at the bar with a cocktail, I had the Quince Collins, it was delicious! So many ingredients, you have to commend the bartenders for their work.Ive eaten here 3 times before but I always forget what is the best way to work the menu...to go with the prix fixe menu or just pick & choose as we prefer! So we got the waiters advise which was to do 2 apps, 2 pastas, 1 main course & 2 Desserts & share! We shared the Fegatini duck liver mousse to start, it was divine! My BF likened it to ice cream lol! Then we had 2 pastas, STRACCI wide ribbon pasta, braised wild mushrooms, rosemary oil & TAGLIATELLE ragù antica, parmigiano. I just love their homemade pastas, it just melts in your mouth! The flavors were delish ! Our fave was the Stracci. The portion sizes are perfect too, any more would be too much. For main course, we shared a special of Lamb porterhouse chops, with pureed parsnip & a crisp swirl of sweet & regular potato. It was beautiful! Again, the portion sizes were perfect. For dessert, I had dark chocolate almond tart, cherries, marcona almondsvanilla gelato. I wasnt a fan of the dark chocolate exterior, the filling, cherries, almons & ice Cream was divine! my BF had the Tiramisu which he loved. The staff are fantastic! Its one of my fave restaurants in NYC.
Chose that first rate spot last year to spend the last days with my son who was deploying to Syria . Returned to celebrate my sons return. From the Matredee to the assistant servers we were treated par excellence! And the food was nothing short of Gourmet. Been going there since it received rave reviews from First Look . Come to find out it was on Anthony Bourdains top 5 places to eat in NYC.
Good food & friendly staff! But it’s only 4 stars because it’s a bit crowded in the dining area. I could not move back my chair any more after I was seated because the person behind me was RIGHT behind me I almost hit his head trying to wear my jacket! If you don’t mind being stuck in your chair for the night , the the food and everything else is joyful!!!
I took my husband here for his birthday, originally wanting to try their aged steak. However, it turned out they did not have that aged-perfectly steak that day!!! So, we ended up trying their famous pasta dishes and were nonetheless more than impressed!I love everything Michael White owns so far from Marea to Nicoletta Pizzeria in East Village. Osteria is another less stuffy and more casual type Italian restaurants where they serve superb cold cuts, pastas and desserts. We started with the cheese and cold cuts as appetizer. The cheese and prosciutto are excellent. We also got the basic salad and that one was less than stellar. I guess I have high expectation for even a plain salad here! For entree though, I got the ragu parpadelle and my husband had their really good truffle ravioli. Both are amazing! The pasta are homemade and the sauce is intense and flavorful. For dessert, he got the espresso over ice cream and I had their tiramisu. Both are excellent and perfect to wash down our savory meals.I would love to come back to try their aged steak next time!
Service was mediocre, and thats honestly been generous. There is no excuse for poor service anywhere, even if the only thing being sold is peanuts. Also, while it was cooked exceptionally, the portion size of the pasta was undoubtedly small for the price. My table ordered three different ones and were all equivalents. As someone who has spent their career in a kitchen, I understand all that goes into food and Im willing to spend lots of money on food when I eat out - so Im not just trying to be cheap or sound off on needing a bigger portion size. The portion size was fine, just not at that price point. Lastly, the focaccia was dry and over-baked on the top which was bothersome simply based on it being an amenity. It may seem counterintuitive, but if youre going to hand something out, it actually has to be stellar because every single person is going to be tasting it. If you took a poll and asked guests two questions as they left, Did you have the focaccia? and Did you have the (insert arbitrary dish from menu)? The results would be staggering – easily more than double in favor of the complimentary bread. Its not free anyways, you dont get to use a hotel pool unless youre currently renting a room. For this reason alone it has to be exceptional, if it isnt then dont make it available for service. No informed guest is going to be upset if told that There will be no bread accompanying dinner tonight because its quality did not reach a standard we (Osteria) feel comfortable serving. Conversely, however, when poorly executed focaccia is served to an informed diner, it becomes this annoying conversation loaded with principled rhetoric and what is or what isnt implicitly suggested by serving bread thats been compromised.
Great take on the Italian Tavern by M. White and co. Straightforward flavors and combinations comprise a traditional menu infused with some fun personality. For the neighborhood, its a great choice on the higher-end of Italian and quite welcome above the tourist ridden, overpriced spots in Little Italy.

2022-02-27Rustic, traditional Italian fare in a rustic, traditional Italian setting. No surprises here, so if you’re looking for cozy comfort food that’s delicious and more refined than that food served in similar settlings, Osteria Morini is a great option! We had dinner at the bar, ordered fried artichokes, meatballs and two pastas to share. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The pastas were made perfectly with adequate firmness and with just the right amount of sauce. The meatballs and pastas were all served with red sauce, however, each were distinctive and offered their own depth and range of flavors. Would highly recommend.

2022-05-06We went to celebrate birthday. In the reservation the web restaurant is asking if this is special occasion, we say yes however there was no sign they notice that. So why you are asking? The food is ok but consider the pricing it isn’t. The desert tiramisu and crostata was not good at all, not fresh. Our waiter was busy and it was difficult to get her attention. We did not got bread after we ask 2 times we did. The restaurant is very noisy you can have conversation there. The food is phenomenal. We stopped here on our cross-country trip. Im just loving it, I would love to come again.

2022-01-31I came here for brunch. It was during Covid and they only had outdoor seating at the time. It was on the street and thankfully the street had been shut down for pedestrians so it wasn’t very loud.I came here at about 11 in the morning and I would say that all the other restaurants were completely full. This place had no one there but people started to come in at about 1130.We were seated immediately and I tried the eggs Benedict with salmon and my friend tried the branzino. I would say the benedict was largely forgettable but the Bronzino was crispy and well prepared. The service was very quick as well and I would say the word stuff is really friendly and helps with placing your orders. A lot of stuff had to be brought from inside the restaurant though so we did have to wait quite a bit of time for her to bring condiments etc. Not a negative but it might make more sense for you to go in and get a bunch of stuff that you would like. The inside his rather dark unless you sit by the windows. But I do have a really full and large bar which would be lovely to sit in on the evenings. The space is mostly wooden and looks like an old-school Italian Varro restaurant.

2022-05-03Second attendance, I must say I once again enjoyed my experience. First time was a by chance dinner after reading reviews and came back a second time for a date night. The food, well recommended was delicious. I had the trofie, and date had the cappaleti. The cappaleti was my favorite, however all the dishes are second to none. Appetizer was the burrata, which I implore you to try and if youre feeling a little adventurous the octopus as well. I have also partaken in the skewers and I do warn you, it is a bit filling. As for as the drinks 10/10. I recommend both the Stir Crazy (mezcal base) & Botanical 75 (gin base). I enjoyed the botanical if youd like a nice spritzer drink and Stir Crazy,be careful, for a more potent aspect. Overall thoroughly enjoyed my meal.Additonally the staff was attentive, friendly and well verse in menu recommendations. Would recommend as a date night without breaking the bank, family night out or just a casual stop.P.S My date was also pleased by the food and experience, so Id say it was definitely a win.

2022-02-27The pastas are out of this world, the service is excellent, the drinks are amazing, and the ambiance is the perfect balance of fine-dining and casual.Nathan, the general manager, was incredible. He was so kind, helpful and elevated our dining experience. Tonight was just a cute date night, but he made it feel like an anniversary dinner. We were really grateful to be served by him!
