I write this with great sadness, what was my favorite Italian restaurant in Auburn has greatly disappointed me! Every Sunday I make my family a big Italian meal, with Mother’s Day they wanted to treat me to take out. I ordered Penna Alla Vodka for $19. What I received was a small black container (about half full) with Penne and almost No⬅️ sauce, looked like day-old pasta. I doubt that it was, it just had sat long enough to be completely dry, there was no sauce on the side, it did have bread but none of the dipping sauce. And of course their meals do not come with salads. I would say the total cost of my meal was a $1.50. ☹️ Bring back Guillermo
One of best restaurants in all of New York. The appetizers and wood fire pizzas are delicious. The raviolis are handmade and stuffed with a good sized portion. The entrees are rustic in plating style but the taste is excellent. Had the veal scallopini, marsala style. This entree had an exuberant amount of mushrooms overtop the veal, which is lightly breaded. The sauce is not overly sweet the key to a good marsala. It also came with a side of spaghetti with a traditional sauce, I love that the pasta was cooked al dente, wrapped that to go because I wanted dessert. Lastly, enjoyed a larger than any other restaurant portion, creme brulee; my favorite! You can sit outside when the weather is nice and enjoy some excellent Italian cuisines and also live music. GODERE!
Gluten free pizza and pasta! Very elegant yet unassuming atmosphere - comfortable, nice, and good food. Perfect for a date night, when family is in town, or a night out with friends. The wine list is great and the desserts are excellent! I gave it 4 stars because the last time I was there my pizza had no flavor - like the sauce was flavorless. Ill stick with the gf pasta
The restaurant had alot of good features and a few not so good.My husbands lasagna was excellent, my specialty drink was excellent. Our table was located in the bar area, near the stairs, which was not a problem. But the issue was the adjacent bathroom door remained open when not being used and the toilet was on full display to the guests eating dinner. Yikes. Our waiter was very attentive and worked hard to satisfy. Thank you.
We enjoyed the Caesar salad with shrimp, the mixed greens and the mushroom pizza. The salads were wonderfully fresh and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The pizza was of the wood-fired variety and was also delicious. We rarely order dessert but since everything else was so good... we tried the tiramisu. It was also light and delicious. Top shelf place.
We had a very nice meal here the other night. I loved the shrimp francese with gluten free pasta. My husband enjoyed the cavatelli with sausage. My brother-in-law said the lasagna was very good. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Our server was attentive. Their dessert selection was lacking. We will dine here again!
I only gave this one star because I had to in order to post. I understand we had a party of 10 but I have never had worse service. 30 min wait for a drink. Our reservations were for 530 it was 800 before we even got our food. Seafood was overcooked, anything fried was oil logged, pizza was cold and burnt, some people got there food a good 45 minutes before the rest of us. Never returning
We found that at Osteria’s Restaurant sometimes there maybe a problem with service but they will correct it if they know of itIt’s hard to hire good people right now. That said the food IS ALWAYS 5 stars. The Salmon, the Veal Marcella, The Pizza to name a few and everything is always nice and hot. Can’t wait for our next visit 👏👍
My family and I went here over the weekend, for my sister’s birthday. We ate, and the food was alright. What wasn’t alright, however, was that, as soon as I left the table to pull up my car, not one, but two waiters (40+ years of age) proceeded to make romantic verbal advances to my fiancée. My fiancée and I are in our mid-twenties. It was apparent that we were together - we entered the restaurant together, held hands, and she has an engagement ring on. She told them that she had a fiancé and they both were visibly upset upon hearing this. One even went after her in order to offer her his hand and make more conversation. She told me all of this upon entering the car, saying that it was uncomfortable and weird, and I re-entered the restaurant, asking for the manager. I spoke to a couple of half-witted waiters who pretended to be oblivious, and told them that this was unacceptable; upon describing them to my fiancée later, she confirmed one of them was one of the harassers. All in all, incredibly unprofessional and wildly inappropriate for older waiters in what is supposed to be a decent establishment for families and relaxed nights out. We won’t be returning to this place, as long as they employ disgusting/pathetic waiters such as those previously mentioned.
Excellent upscale Italian cuisine in a nice, modestly upscale environment. One of the top two most authentic Italian restaurants I have eaten in - more than one employee had a substantial Italian accent. My wife had a combo of little necks in the shell, mussels in the shell, calamari, and a half lobster. It was over pasta with an excellent earthy-seasoned sauce, unlike any Ive tasted before. I went with the far more straightforward lobster ravioli, which was equally good. The creme brulee was completely smooth and nicely flavored. This slightly pricey dinner was an unusual treat for us - but OMG well worth it!Bonus - They make one of the top 25 pizzas in NYS - which we had when we went back the next night! Obviously far less pricey for dinner - but equally well worth it!
The portions were plentiful, the food was good and the staff was attentive. I was looking for more authentic Southern Italian type cooking, as when i was in Italy. I have no complaint about the food, in fact the olive oil with spices served before the meal with bread was scrumptious. I felt some dishes could have used more garlic
I only rate places I love. The Osteria has an elegant, big city, even cosmopolitan clientele and service in a small city. The Italian dishes are well and expertly prepared. Try linguini frutti di mare. More frutti di mare, moderate portions of pasta. Impeccable service. Awesome food. Good cocktails. Dig it. [Dating myself.] This is a really nice restaurant.
The Osteria was open in early July when they clearly should not have been. The waitstaff were frustrated because the issues came from management (and, as usual, the waitstaff had to take the brunt of customer displeasure). The restaurant was not prepared for customers. It took forever to get our food; 1 order was 100% wrong (and fed pork to a vegetarian) and another involved uncooked ravioli. It was an absolute disaster.
Worst Italian food I’ve ever had I got chicken Marcella that was extremely runny and the chicken was very slimy we got a fire roasted pizza that tasted like it was out of a box no flavor absolutely horrible The only good thing that we had was the free bread would never go here again for people that are truly Italian their food definitely does not show it And furthermore I googled the name and it showed up they were the same Italian restaurant that was in Destiny USA that me and my husband went to on our anniversary they ended up paying for our bill because the food was so disgusting and we were there for three hours worst experience ever I think this guy really needs to quit trying to serve food because it is clearly not his specialty!! Do not waste your time or money go to Santangelo‘s min Liverpool!!!They are amazing in their Italian food was on points best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life!!!!!
The coffee and biscotti here are excellent in the cafe section, which I visit on occasion. Nice atmosphere with a helpful & friendly staff. I took my fiancee here for a full dinner and was overwhelmed by the quality of the food, the friendliness of the service and the atmosphere. The bathroom was clean. Delicious Italian entrees. Very pleased with this restaurant.
Horrible service. Worst in history. Cant imagine how they have gotten so many good reviews when my friends and family have been disappointed by the service to an extreme on several occasions. Have even had neighboring tables express their disbelief at the horrifyingly slow and terrible service. Bad bad service. If your okay with a 2-3 hour dining experience with little to no attention from the wait staff the food is semi-decent.
Add this Osteria to your exploration of Italian cuisine in Upstate New York and the Finger Lakes. I dropped in for lunch and cant imagine why I would continue to the library. I cant ask for a cappuccino at the library. Nor would I expect to be cheered by a fire burning in the pizza oven. The library has a gorgeous, mammoth fireplace, but it has been fitted with an electric fire. Toulouse and the Paris Soccer Club compete on the big screen above the bar, sound off. Italian love songs remind me that Valentines Day approaches. The family who run the restaurant take a quick lunch together before real customers arrive. Put the Osteria on a list with Gustos and Morros Table when thinking about downtown Auburn Italian dining.
Would give this place a negative 5 star review if I could. We have had 3 horrible experiences here. why we decided to keep going back is that the food is decent. Buy never ever again. We have talked to other people that were also waiting there and have had the same experience as us before. We also just had a group of people try it and said they would NEVER go back again. One couple waited for 15 mins just to get menus. We waited 30 minutes to get our drinks. INSANE! so if you have 2-3 hours to burn on dinner go here. otherwise try another place. OH, this is my first ever review on google. But I am trying to save others the wasted time. Piss poor management coming from a large corporate business owner myself. We have many other 1 star reviews coming for this place for the other 9 people that have tried it and had the same experience.
First time i ordered wood fired pizzas, I had to wait 15 minutes past the pick up time I told them I would be there. This time, they burned my fig pizza. I am done with this place. Will look elsewhere.tried it again and it seems they realize the more servers the better had a great meal and very good service
Just stopped in after being next door, reviews confirmed... The food was fantastic! We were the first ones in and the owner? Was very very kind and gracious as we ordered and ate at the bar. Great decor and the meatball sauce was amazing. Really liked my tortellini soup and the lady had a gluten free penne with meat sauce, cooked perfectly. Will recommend to any and everyone we know who is in the area. Bravo!
Our table got wine, Cesar salads, white.wine mussels, lobster ravioli, tortellini Bolognese, and GLUTEN FREE pasta with vodka sauce. Everything was delicious and out server, Lauren, was excellent. They have a good selection of regular menu options offering gluten free pasta and pizza on request. They also have daily specials that sounded delicious when we were there. The prices were also very reasonable!
My girlfriend and I love this place and we have introduced many friends and family to it the service is always friendly, quick and professional. The food is the best part, their specials, pastas, raw bar and even pizza are well made and full of flavor. Their homemade ravioli is unreal, get the lobster or mushroom. This place actually has the best pizza Ive had in Syracuse. Homemade riccota, fresh mozzarella, quality meat, great crust and delicious sauce, you should give these guys a try.
I had the opportunity to enjoy this new restaurant in Auburn (Where Spirits once was). I had a few messages of How was it and figured I would post my review. The Look - 100% completely remodeled (tasteful, classy with exposed brick charm). The Food - Lots of great dishes with a light healthier feel. The Drink - Plenty of wines, Imported beer list is limited. The Light - Perfect warm level of lighting (Not dark, but not bright). The Space - There is plenty of tables but some of the couples tables seem too close. The Cost - I think the prices were decent. When I walked in, I expected the prices.Comparisons - A larger Bambinos Bistro (Same owners) with a slight increase in quality.Greatest Feature - I noticed they installed full faced french doors across the front. I see their space extending to outdoors seating in the summer. I think this is awesome placement on a Brick street feel. Reminds me of many great restaurants in Italy.Overall - I enjoyed it and thought the place was done very well. The Wood Fire Pizza was a nice touch and added to the look. I would suggest you try it at least once.Negatives - Not kid friendly (Sorta Expected).
Service was terrible. We were one of two tables and after waiting for a half hour, I had to speak up and ask for someone to take our order. After we finished, we had to put our card on the edge of the table for the waiter to see, because he was busy flirting with the hostess. Food was good otherwise.
This was my 2nd experience, the first one being wonderful.I was anticipating another great meal but was terribly disappointed. The service was good, the food horrible. I ordered the veal special which had artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and asparagus. Sounds good BUT the sun dried tomatoes were overwhelming and the sauce tasted like water.Im not sure that I will try it again
Atmosphere seemed a little bland (though probably above average for Auburn, NY). Appetizers were just okay. Entrees were great. Was there for a work outing so we had a very large party on a weeknight. A few entrees were sold out. 4 stars because its in Auburn. If it were in a larger city with more competition, I might have rated it at only 3 stars.
I have been to this restaurant many times. And while the food is good and the drinks are sometimes great. The service is often horrible. Last night was an exceptionally bad representation of that. My group of 6 was left outside for well over an hour without anyone ever taking our order or checking on us. The people next to us were complaining about the service and how long their food was taking. And considering nobody had even taken our order at this point we decided getting food was not an option (how disappointing) as it would take too long if it ever came at all. We spoke to the table next to us and they said the service there is always horrible. But when I finally got up and went inside to pay for the one round of drinks we got in the nearly 1.5 hour wait. There was not a single patron in the restaurant and the wait staff was simply standing around. It was clear they had no intention to service our table. Pathetic. We will not be back and we will warn all our friends. Do not eat at this place unless you have a ton of patience and time to kill.
We were in Auburn for our granddaughters softball tournament and had our Great Dane with us. Wanted a pet friendly restaurant so our daughter found Osteria Salina through Bring Fido. Great call.Nice outdoor dining in a trendy block. The food was amazing. I had the lobster ravioli. My wife had the polenta with mushroom appetizer for her dinner. The others had penne a la vodka, chicken Francais and chicken parm. Large portions of delicious food. Cocktails were great too. And our 110 pound puppy was treated like a member of our party. He got excited every time the young man came by with water.
We went to eat at Osteria last night. The service was AWFUL!!! We had reservations 2 hours in advance, and there was no booth set aside like we requested. The waitress NEVER smiled, it took an hour to get our food, and by my standards, as an Italian, a nice Italian restaurant should at the very least have parmesan on the table, if not directly offered to have it grated over your food for you. It took so long for them to bring us our check after whisking our food away, that we had to flag down a busboy to have it brought to us, and then we still had to walk it up front because the waitress never came to retrieve it. Although the food was good, the portion sizes were small and dinner didnt come with salad or sides. We VERY disappointed! I have never written a restaurant review, but felt it was necessary to warn other consumers!
The food was okay quality. Luke warm considering how long it took for it to come out.Service was extremely slow for a Wednesday afternoon with only 2 tables occupied. Server would regularly disappeared to the point that I would have to look for her.Fiest time customer probably wont give it another try.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE ! I just wanted a crepe, so I went into the crepe enterance and sat there for 20 mins...no one came and asked us what we wanted. A waiter came in for coffee and did not ask us what we wanted or acknowledge us at all. There was a room of screaming children running in and out of the restaurant into this area. We finally walk over to the restaurant and ask the hostess for assistance and she says “I’m in not sure we are making crepes right now....” after making a face at her, she went to find the magical unicorn that knows how to make a crepe. The bartender FINALLY came over to take our order. So frustrating. I would have dramatically left, but crepes are life so I had to stick it out. Not planning on returning unless these crepes taste like unicorn tears. We shall see.
