I left this damn place in worse physical condition than when I showed up. The lack of care and service and competence at this place BAFFLES me entirely. They missed my IV and I told them 4 different times that something wasnt right, I was promptly disregarded. Turns out I was right and they injected an entire dose of contrast into my arm tissue rather than my vein and thats where it all stayed:) needless to say my forearm was bigger than my bicep for a good 14 hours and yes, it was disgusting. Never again in my life would I so much as dream of taking anyone to this place EVER. Literally dont you will regret every second of it I promise.
I wish zero was an option. I has doctor sheret. I was treated so terrible I left in tears. I came in with a swollen hand that was starting to turn purple. I told them I had no trama to my hand and was starting to lose the use of it at all. The doctor from the beginning was hostile toward me. Acted like I didnt know what I was talking about when I was doing was explaining my symptoms. I was told I needed an X-ray to look for air under my skin though Im confused how that would show this. After I was told it was tendinosis and that I needed to rest it. I was so upset because at this point im losing use of my hand. When the nurse asked the doctor why I was so upset he said shes not getting what she wants I was horribly offended because all I wanted was answers. This place was terrible and I needed up actually having a blood clot I willing me fling a complaint and speaking with a lawyer about malpractice.
Well to start there is no option for 0 stars.. Friday evening I was at the emergency room running a very high fever. The woman ordered to complete a flu swab and strep throat swab claimed to the doctor that she had and in fact she had not. My work note was not filled out and was giving to me blank. The doctor was also unclear of how often to take medications that were recommended. Saturday evening I was back at the er due to a high fever because of the lack of detail in when I should be taking the medications. They had asked me 3 times with pharmacy I used. When I went to pick up my medications the pharmacy had no record of any prescriptions. Oswego hospital sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy 30 mins from the one I requested. I called Oswego er to correct the problem and they said they would resend it to the pharmacy I requested. 1 hour later I still did not have my prescription. The pharmacist were I had requested the prescription to be sent called the other pharmacy and had my prescription in less than 10 minutes. I do not recommend Oswego hospital to anyone. They are careless in their practices.
This place is the worst of the worst. I do not recommend anyone come here, my mother busted her head open and all they did was wrap some gauze around her head didn’t even take it or anything and made her sit in the waiting room for 5 hours while she was still bleeding in pain, didn’t give her Tylenol or anything until 6 hours later.
Just got home, thought they were going to give me some pain relief drops for corneal abrasion. They only gave me antibiotics. Called to ask why, guy said he couldnt help me over the phone, gave me a number to call. I called the number, it was upstate hospital in Syracuse. How the hell is that supposed to help me right? This is after I got back from my two hour visit (speedy for Oswego), during which I was sat in the hall with some other patients. The guy to my left had a broken wrist and was getting it set there in the hall four feet from me. I still cant sleep because I feel like theres a fork stuck in my eye. Thanks Oswego ER! I wish I was joking right now.
Went to this ER after I got hurt playing soccer. They took one xray, told me I was fine, and rushed me out. A couple days later I had multiple emergency surgeries (at a different hospital) to save my right leg from the knee down due to undiagnosed compartment syndrome. I have permanent nerve damage in my foot now.
If there was an option for no stars Id choose it I went In last night and waited for 1 hour 45 minutes, which I understood because it was so busy. Well afgtwe getting me into a room, the doctor came in looked at what was wrong and automatically knew what I needed. He never came back or any thing. They just pull you in and rush you out. Not worth it at all. Oh and I also still feel no better with what that gave me thank you Oswego and your rude staff. Update, I was hospitalized and had surgery, when upstate could have totally figured this out but just got rid of me. Thank you for the days of suffering.
Sitting here listening to a couple nurses talk about other patients calling them scum bags yea real professional 🤷♂️ calling another patients behavior bad and we dont treat bad behavior as the staff mocks him by saying we dont wanna violate the heepa laws cause he cant say HIPAA how the hell is this place still open

2022-04-06The staff at this facility should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I’ve never seen such gross negligence and abuse of power at a medical center. My close friend came in around 230pm, it’s 1233 am and she has yet to be seen. She’s been suffering in pain that comes with kidney stones for days now. It finally hit its peak and they still hadn’t passed, so she decided to be seen. (This is not her first experience with kidney stones, she’s had to have surgery in the past.)They are not at all taking her seriously or even trying to treat her.I absolutely pity the individual(s) who will inevitably end up losing their life due to the malpractice and absolute unfathomable negligence of this hospital. It’s only a matter of time before that scenario becomes a reality. Maybe it will at least invoke some much over needed change/staff overhaul.. until then, DO NOT WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME HERE.

2022-04-15Went in last month because I was having issues breathing, the nurse told me that they didn’t think it was a respiratory issue after continuing to ask me about any mental illnesses, then asked why I didn’t take medication for said illnesses, when I said I didn’t they said “why? Just didn’t want to?” When I said I didn’t take any medication for not being able to breathe, said “why? Just didn’t want to?” Turns out the doctor said it was upper respiratory infection, not sure exactly what it was because I’m still sick after a month & a half. Overall, terrible experience. The staff is extremely rude, I suggest going to wellnow

2022-03-05This place is a joke. All these reviews are spot on. I was there today and all I can do is shake my head.. I recently had thrush in my esophagus. I took all my meds and actually finished them 4 days ago. The er Dr said all my symptoms were from the medication I was taking. HELLO I finished them 4 days ago..now mind you I suffer from 3 diseases of the lungs. I went in coughing like crazy. The Dr didnt even listen to my lungs. I was given fluids and a cough drop. Are u kidding me. Im so frustrated. We go in sick wanting help. Its a weekend I cant go to my dr!! Just absolutely angry.

2022-06-21Horrible inadequate care. Exceptionally long wait times. Rude staff and nurses. Indifferent doctors who do not give a fair minimum of stabilization care. And as another reviewer pointed out, there seems to be an attitude at Oswego emergency that people seeking treatment there are all treated as if they are pain drug seekers even when they are in obvious pain or even if the patient does not ask for pain medication, and I’m sure this is partially due to the state’s war on opioids, but Oswego Hospital doctors are ridiculous in their withholding of pain medication when it is obviously needed for patients who are in real pain. I have seen this happen to my son who went in with a broken elbow, and it even happened with a friend of mine who is psychotherapist, she told me that when she was treated in emergency room for broken arm, that all they gave her was ibuprofen! Ibuprofen? Come on, really?! I’ve heard many other such stories from other folk I know in Oswego too. I know that friends of mine who teach at SUNY Oswego have had bad experiences with Oswego Emergency care. I’ve never once heard anyone have anything good to say about the emergency room staff, doctors and level of care.Oswego Hospital needs to do something about training their staff much better! And the emergency doctors at Oswego Hospital Emergency Care should have sensitivity training in how to talk to and be compassionate to human beings seeking their help there. I’m sure the doctors are all competent medically, but their rushed and arrogant attitudes and indifference to their patients, needs to be addressed and improved! The nursing staff and assistants also need some sensitivity training in how to treat human beings with dignity and compassion. Very rushed, rude, indifference, is a serious problem with all the emergency room staff. There is no excuse for it.

2022-04-12I would give this place zero starz if it was an option brought my daughter in with a fever a cough and she was weezing the doctor claimed they tested for covid the flu and a throat culture but I watched them only test for covid we sat their for 5 hours to be told nothing is wrong they should be shut down until they can find suitable doctors

2021-10-30Long wait times are due to covid. Triage nurse was prompt at getting people in to see priority. Rooms opened up when they could. I absolutely hate needles and the nurse was great at keeping me calm and only had to stick me once for the iv. Ive been in and out of the auburn er for two years now for abdominal pain. This er actually ran proper tests to see what was going on and actually gave me a diagnosis.

2020-09-02If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible rude ER doctor. Never examined and sent a patient away who was having tunnel vision, dizzy and a nose bleed for over 2 hours. That had happened for 6 days straight. Then had the audacity to say are you completely incapable of taking care of yourself?Avoid at all costs. Horrible place.

2019-09-14Treated as a drug seeker looking for a couple of days off work. I never even asked for pain medication, nor do I have a history of opiate use. (I would only take non narcotics anyway, if offered medication) Told no when asking for a doctors note (starting a brand new job 8 hours after my visit, no use of my right hand due to infection and swelling). No bloodwork, and not one person even touched or examined my wound. I sought treatment elsewhere the next day and was hospitalized for a couple of days.

2018-05-16I will never let any of my loved ones go to this emergency room. So many ways they lack in service I cant even begin to describe. I practically begged the staff for IV fluids because I was so dehydrated and they refused. By the time I went to St Joes maybe 24 hour later (wonderful hospital) I needed 2 bags of IV fluids and had a critically low potassium level. I am truly disturbed by the lack of care I received at this hospital. The only staff that IS helpful there is the office staff who will help find a DR to follow up with quickly.

2021-03-22Unfortunately the advertisements and billboard messages misrepresent Oswego Hospital. A heart attack requires competent, immediate care from a qualified team and it is not available at this facility. Dont waste valuable time here. Oswego try a little compassion rather than annoyance it would be a good start.
