Palace Theatre in other cities:
Excellent venue for concerts, have been there many times over the years. Since its been in use for many years it has had some upgrades and is due for more. They have a foundation working on it. Attendees should consider contributing to help keep it viable for years to come.
Staff is friendly, intermission service can be slow. There is a dead spot underneath the balcony ... its nice to sit there if you have sensitive ears but not ideal if you want to feel in the music. Parking can be problematic so definitely arrive early.Seats are pretty comfortable!
Went and seen modest mouse with my girlfriend and we had a blast. There was plenty of spots inside to grab drinks and food. Merchandise table was easy to access. The parking included with the tickets purchased online, and it was valet, which was the best after the concert. Definitely gonna go again. Only thing that could be improved would be like an inch more space all around for seating. Though it is an older theater so honestly it was fine.
We saw NRBQ open for Bonnie Raitt and were totally enchanted by the sheer size and old-world beauty of the theatre. The sound was excellent and there wasnt a bad seat in the house. The balcony seating gave a particularly favorable view of the stage. Drinks were pricey but there were atleast ten satellite bars placed around the different levels so there were very short lines. The theatre is located downtown but very close to the interstate and parking was easy and close. It was an awesome experience, I would highly recommend seeing a show/production there.
I love the design of this old theater. The theater really needs to rethink the music they play while you are waiting for the performance to begin. It is loud and not relative to the age group in attendance. Dusty, dirty carpets. Ladies room was out of paper towels before the show started. For the price of the tickets we were expecting a little more attention to these simple services. Excited to see Jim Gaffigan but disappointed in The Palace.
One of my favorite old school theaters and the coolest in the Albany, NY area! They commonly attract major national acts. The seating is great and offers fantastic visibility from nearly every seat in the theater. I see shows here multiple times a year and expect to continue! Would highly recommend!
Gorgeous theater in great shape with a history in it. The architecture and old gen feel of this small venue always delightful. A beautifully restored concert hall for all kinds of performance. Seating is MUCH more spacious than Proctors. Always had a great experience, balcony felt awesome and gave a great view.
Its was fun getting to meet Chevy chase but to get pictures done it was very unorganized they should have left everyone in their seats and go in order by seats not make everyone get up and try to fine where the line begins and where it ends. Some people were going up to the 2nd floor and some went around to the other side trying to go back to the 1st floor sad 😥
Amazing concert venue. I have been going to this venue for years and Im always amazed by the ornate detail of this theater. Great space and easy to get in and out of. Great places to grab something to eat and drink nearby as well. Weather it be comedy shows, music or plays, the Palace is a great spot to enjoy.
Went there to see Lord of the Dance Dangerous Games. Had a wonderful time. Evil Dancing robots. Good guy and girls vs Bad guys and girls battling it out for the lord of the dance title. Only criticism my girl had was the amount of clothing the dancers had on or shoud I say lack of. At 1 point the male dancers even took there shirts off to show there abs. Could have done with all the extra stuff like that. The show was that awesome But it made for alot of conversations.
Ive been coming here for years, but wont be retuning until the end of COVID. No actual checking of vaccine status *although this was on the web site* No bother to asking people to wear masks *although this was on the web site*. The Linda is a much smaller venue, but they made sure people were kept safe. The Boomers next to me were maskless the entire show.
This place is super nice. We got in, in like five minutes no problem. We sat way up top and could still see the stage perfectly. Our only complaint is the seats are a little small. Im 6 tall and my knees hit the seat in front of me so a aisle seat is necessary. Otherwise things were great.
Attended a concert here with my daughter. Small venue made it seem very personal. I dont believe there was a bad seat in the house! The baroque styleinterior was beautiful. Depending on the band, I would definitely make the four hour drive to return to the Palace Theatre.
Went to see the Russian Nutcracker Ballet. It was my first time at the Palace. Ushers were wonderful, they helped us find our seats. Parking was a little tricky. We have a handicap sticker and with valet parking we still walked a block and a half. It felt like a mile but we made it. Beautiful theater and wonderful show!
Saw Jackson Browne here with my family, and it was my first visit to this amazing vintage style theater. Very well kept, with a gorgeous interior. Acoustics were excellent, and it was a very intimate place to see a show. Access to bathrooms was easy and spacious, with another place to buy drinks nearby! Drink selection is good, prices reasonable (glasses of wine a little small). For 10$ there was a small parking lot a short walk away that is worth taking advantage of if youre not familiar with the area. Would absolutely go here again.
Really nice, small, local theater with a good selection of shows and events. Ive seen two shows here - one was the Rocky Horror, the other was a rock concert. Its a strange venue for a rock concert as there is no general admission, and the stage is sort of small for that sort of thing, but it was a small enough venue that I felt close to the band and at a reasonable price. Its a pretty place with nice decor. Its not so large as to be overwhelming. The partnership with Ticketmaster means you have to pay a ridiculous fee for tickets. Its not the venues fault, but expecting one price and paying a ridiculous amount in fees after is the biggest issue here. Having worked in a theater myself, I understand why it is the way it is. But Ticketmaster genuinely makes me want to skip shows.
Beautiful, clean, comfortable seats, need more bathrooms. Tons of us were literally running at intermission to get there. Smoke machine can be turned down as well for the stage, almost couldnt see performers. Needs more options for non beer drinkers. Hard seltzers arent for all.
This venue is one of my favorites in the Capital Region. The history within the building is breathtaking and in my opinion one of the many reasons I love it. The sound in the theater is rivaled by none. It big enough but at the same time small enough. I have seen over 100 shows here and plan to see many more.
I had a great time enjoying the performance. My only complaint would be that the seats need an upgrade. The seats are uncomfortable, and need to be made for larger people. Being in the first row of my section, allowed me to stretch my feet and legs out, and that somewhat helped for my comfort.
A great theater located in the heart of the Capital Region. There are so many venues and shows that come to this theater. Seating is comfortable and the inside is so beautiful. I saw a comedy show here and it was amazing. And there are restaurants located in walking distance to visit before or after the show. Great theater!
Wonderful night at the Palace holiday showing of Love Actually. As members of the Palace Performing Arts Center, we enjoyed a complimentary light meal before the movie, which was also free of charge. The film was very enjoyable and put us in the holiday spirit. The movie showing was well attended by the public, who paid only $5 per person for entry. Parking was easy, practically right outside the door. The only thing missing was a light snowfall to set the mood. Loved it! Well worth the price of membership! Thank you, Palace!
Great shows, beautiful venue and attentive staff. Free parking only a block away at a secure parking garage on Broadway. Easy walk to venue. Surrounded by many great pubs and restaurants within a 1/4mi distance. So easy to make a full night of great experiences with family and friends.
The theater was really comfortable. The only thing that I dont like about the movies is that I am paying an arm and a leg for food. All movie theaters are like this and I will give all of them 4 starts until they decided to sell food for a reasonable price. But either than that I love the theaters the seats are comfortable and I enjoyed my experience.
I love the Palace Theatre because of the variety of shows that they have there. I go to the showing of the The Rocky Horror Picture Show every year. They actually let the audience throw rice, toilet paper, confetti, cards, and everything else that is in the prop kit. It is pretty awesome. They are also a good venue for concerts and shows. I have seen Tori Amos and the Trailer Park Boys there and each time was spectacular! Parking is usually on-street, but many of the shows will have $5 valet parking in the state office parking lots around the theatre.
Favorite theater in the area. I have been going here since I was a little girl. The inside is absolutely beautiful with the detailed decor and the mural on the ceiling. The Palace has hosted a variety of shows from ballet and comedy to old films and jam band concerts. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They have the best system for serving drinks - more drinks carts. There is even a spot to get a drink down near the bathrooms.
Gorgeous looking theater with a pretty good line up of shows, events, and movies. Prices are decent for the most part and VERY reasonable for their classic movies (I brought the whole family, got snacks, and still spent less than $50, which is a BIG savings when you have four children!!!). The popcorn was a bit old, though, so I suggest grabbing different snacks.
Saw Ghost there last night (6.6.17) and not only was the band incredible but the venue was gorgeous. Extremely easy to get to, tons of very close free parking, The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and they actually cater to smokers by allowing people to exit the side of the building into a roped off area to smoke. Of course we had to deal with drunk idiots and people standing up right in front of us when everyone else is sitting but thats no fault of the venues thats a typical concert. Overall 5 stars for the venue, location and ease of getting in and out. I will definitely be back!
I have loved every minute I have spent in this theater. The acts they book are contemporary and interesting. The inside is beautiful, they dont charge too too much like at some other theaters. I think all of the seats have good views, so you can choose to sit farther away and save money on your ticket.
What a gorgeous theater! Saw Amy Schumer here a few weeks ago and there is no bad seat in the house. Great sound and light quality. Carpeted throughout giving a cozy feel. Bathrooms are large enough to decrease wait time. Water fountain accessible. Only negative was that they had us put our phones in a sealed purse that had to be unlocked via magnetic wand.
Theater is gorgeous! Appears to be mostly restored, but some of the areas on ceiling are painted grey & Im very sure they originally were scenic paintings, probably of famous plays, actors or landscape? All of the seats have a great view of the stage & the sound is really good. Love these older places!!!If arriving from north of Albany, take 787 south, exit 4B, 1st left at bottom of ramp, left at light & free parking (during events & after 5pm) on left. Theater is VERY EASY TO SEE. Classic marquee with hundreds, if not thousands, of lights.
Beautiful classic theater. Rivals upscale theaters in New York and Boston that Ive been to. There is much more seats than I expected. I sat front balcony and had no complaints of the view.We saw a comedy show and the sound was good but I cant comment on the acoustics for a concert or musical. Entry and egress was very smooth and easy.Plenty of restaurants (although most require reservations during show nights) in the area and there is a parking garage one block away that has free parking during show times.
Beautiful building in downtown Albany. Saw Justin Moore last night.. Pretty clean. Sticky floors but thats what happens when drinks spill. Would definitely go to another show there. I didnt think any seat in the house was a bad seat. We had 10th row. But I also went to back for a breather and those seats werent bad either.
I have been to the palace theater multiple times to see lewis black and Russel peters. The theater is really nice inside and offers a decent amount of seating. I drive for almost 3hr one way to come down. The theater doesnt really have parking per say so its best to get there ahead of time. The staff is able to get you in quick even with lines and the only down side it the theater will not allow photos during the performances.
Beautiful theater and great shows, but extremely difficult for my elderly father in law who has trouble walking/standing for long periods. No place for him to sit and wait for my husband to pull the car out front after the show, so we stayed in the theater seats until he got there. A staff member rudely told us we had to leave if it would be much longer, even after I explained the situation. We chose our seats with his issues in mind and that worked out, and we arrived early to beat the crowd and get him settled. We called ahead too, to try and have a plan ahead of time but that was no help. Well look for other venues for shows he will enjoy.
Ticket prices were reasonable, actually amazing, considering how small the venue was. I got really close and spent less than $100. Wouldve been a better deal if the Ticketmaster fees werent outrageous. The venue has a huge selection of beer and hard cider, lemonade, etc. I really love this place. Very cute
Good venue. Awesome that they have snacks and drinks. The issue is parking... If you pre-pay on Ticketmaster for parking, you are actually going to park in a lot down the street that is not huge but they still make you valet park even though you can literally walk to your car, so you have to wait to get your keys back in the cold. Its a bad system, so park on a street if possible.
Seen many shows at this historic theater. Since it was refurbished ( in the 1990s, I think) many of my favorite bands make regular stops in Albany thanks to the Palaces ideal size and superb acoustics. One star deducted for potentially long walks to venue from parking areas in frigid Albany winter. Wouldve deducted only half-a-star if I couldve.
The theatre itself is nice and has a very old fashioned feel to it which is fun, but the staff is absolutely atrocious! They are rude and unhelpful. I went to see a show with some family and we arrived early, along with several other patrons. The doors to the entry into the theater were wide open, however the staff members did not even greet us, but istead said were not open yet we need you to wait outside.....so why are your doors open then? Close them and dont be rude to your customers. Open them when youre ready. Then, when they allowed us inside we went to go find where our seat section was and as I approached the ushers, who were talking to each other and seemed annoyed that I went up to ask them if we were on the right side of the stairs, these employees ALSO rudely said were not open yet, we need you to wait outside. What kind of theatre allows you in it the theatre but then doesnt allow you to find your seats. Once we were brought inside, the ushers didnt even know their own theatre and were walking people around trying to find their seats just as blindly as the customer...we finally just went and found our own seats faster that the ushers would have been able to...and we had to ask for a program. Completely unacceptable customer service, or lack thereof.
Been to many venues all over the world, especially my days spent in the military, and I find this place on of the best. To begin with, the atmosphere and aura of the facility itself sets the tone of the attendees. Make a long story short, the staff were unmistakenly hospitable to myself and my 4 year old Son (Cheap Trick show). Theres numerous reasons why Comparing it to Saratoga and the aisle Nazis. The Palace outshines every venue out there.
I am biased.I love classic theatres.Where it is not simply a box with seats in it. This Theatre is nothing like a box. And Even better it transport you to a different time, so whatever you are seeing is enhanced into a real experience.Everyone I encountered working there was nice and helpful. The one event I attended, well it was a pretty decent crowd. I traveled from Rochester, to Albany to see Eddie Izzard.Definitely worth the trip.
I was so disappointed the other night when I went to see Bell Biv Devoe and Bobby Brown. Your head of Security should be fired, I paid for front roll seats and people with cheaper seats were allowed to rush the stage, blocking the view of people that paid for good seats. From now on we should all buy cheap tickets and just rush the stage. It should be announced at the beginning of the concert people rushing the stage will be removed from building. No more Palace for me, Times Union Center has more control they will be getting my business.
Went to see the john christ and Larry the cable guy show. The show wasnt full because this is Albany and winter... That being said the venue is beautiful and well design. You can hear Stars even from the back of the room. The drinks are priced like what you would expect from such a place, which means theyre slightly more expensive. The staff is very friendly and more than eager to help. There is a parking garage a block away which offers free parking for certain events and at night.

2022-05-27Great restored performance hall. Its always cool going to old venues, the combination of great acoustics and building detail not made or seen very often anymore. Just be aware there isnt an elevator so seats above ground level might be hard to get to for some.

2022-04-26Wonderful theatre with beautiful decor. Seating is very comfy. Easy to find and clean. The parking garage is down the street and can be a bit tough to get into because of its location.

2022-04-15Went here for a comedy show, parking was a little tough at first but pretty expected for downtown, but then found the parking garage down the road. Seats were really comfortable, would definitely go back again!
