I was so happy with my floors that I recommended them to friends who were planning on refinishing their floors. Matthew very detailed on what their service could provide. They arrived promptly, installed new floors , as well as, refinished existing floors. I trusted them to let themselves in and lock up after they were finished for the day. I had gotten 3 estimates before the job was done and their price was very fair. I highly recommend them.
Palermo installed wood flooring on both floors of my home. They made the process simple. The owner answered all my questions and offered good advice. The main installer was a top notch professional. He truly cared about the work he was doing and it showed in the result. The office manager followed up on everything. They were great to work with and do quality work.
We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Palermo Wood Flooring. They transformed our hardwood floors from old and worn out to showroom quality. My wife and I were very particular about refinishing the hardwood floors in our new beach house. The existing floor had a depressingly dark red-brown stain and we wanted a much lighter finish. In doing a proper due diligence we got quotes from three companies and, unhesitatingly, chose Palermo Flooring. WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS. Admittedly, their price was a touch higher but what we got in return was extreme professionalism, work done in a timely manner, the workers were very careful and thorough, the work was beat, and the office was responsive and helpful. We don’t plan to refinish any more floors - but if we did, I wouldn’t look any further than Palermo Wood Flooring.
Recently, we hired Palermo Flooring to refinish our wood floors. They were an excellent choice! After their presentation, we were confident that they were the best of the four companies that we vetted. While several of the companies seemed quite capable, they enabled us to continue living in our home during the job. They also offered a moving service to clear our furniture out of the house prior to the job, and move it back after it was completed. This was the deciding factor as none of the other companies offered this to us.Their price was a fair one that was comparable with the other companies that we interviewed. They came on time everyday until the job was completed. They didnt disappear for days or even months at a time like some contractors that weve hired. They always came when they said they would. A pleasant surprise!The work crew was skillful and did an excellent job of staining and refinishing the floors. The water pop treatment really brought out the grain in the wood. The flush mount vents that they installed look fabulous. And they cleaned up every day before they left.Palermo worked with us to choose the color that best suited our home. And it came out just as we envisioned it. Its beautiful!The project manager kept us informed at every step of the job so we were not left guessing. there were no unpleasant surprises. She adjusted the work schedule and staffing to complete the job on time. Everything that was promised in the proposal was delivered without delay. There was no funny business. Something that Ive experienced with almost every contractor that Ive hired. A pleasant surprise! I had interviewed several companies and I was so happy I went with Palermo Flooring. They were very professional from the start. Matt, the owner, came and gave me an estimate and answered all my questions. Danielle in the office was very helpful and pleasant. The crew that came, Nick and Christian, were on time and meticulous and did a gorgeous job on sanding and staining my wood floors. They look brand new again. I have used Palermos services twice. Once for a bedroom. Second time I had them refinish the floors in the living room, dining room and the hallway. Reasonably priced. Workers arrived on time, professional. Left the house very clean. Even made a few small repairs. Results were exceptional. Matt and his team did an amazing job transforming our “new” 100 year old house, laying beautiful new hardwood, refinishing existing, and installing moulding throughout. Matt gave great recommendations on what would look good for the style of the house and, even in the middle of the COVID restrictions, made sure his team’s safety and our timetable and needs were met. He rebuilt a stair landing and transition step that was done wrong by the former owners, improving the flow from room to room. When we had a concern about an imperfection after the staining/poly was done, he corrected it quickly. He worked with us on the estimate, and even though we went over our original budget, the quality and final results were worth it. So happy with the results and would recommend Palermo.
Palermo flooring customer service is spot on and they got back to me right away. Had a couple estimates done and they came in at a great price. My floors were sanded/stained and look incredible. Matt Bruno and team did a great job. We had the entire main floor done in 3 inch oak. A second job was the upstairs hallway and master bedroom. A third job was resanding a smaller bedroom. The main floor work also required them to install an island piece by piece from Home Depot plans in the kitchen. To open up the space, Matt’s team took down a non-weight bearing wall. I will continue to use Palermo Flooring because I received quality work for a price I could afford.
Amazing work! When I hired them I knew that they had a great reputation. Gilbert was the foreman on my floor refinishing job. He was the nicest guy and his entire crew was very meticulous. They paid attention to every detail including small pieces of molding under each step on the staircase. I knew the floors would come out better than the condition they were in but never imagined the potential they had. Matt and his team brought the flooring back to life again!!! So thrilled with the results and the experience of working with Matt and his team at Palermo Floors! This is the second time we had floors installed by them. The installers were fantastic and made the transition seamless - Palermo Floors installed a Bella wood prefinished hickory floor in half our first floor 5 years ago and we were worried that the aging of the color would be too noticeable until the new floor aged but the installer picked a few boards of varied colors and it looks amazing!!!! Palermo Wood Flooring is the best on Long Island. They are meticulous perfectionists and really, really good at what they do. They did a perfect job reflooring my 200 year-old house, where they were able to do, Home Depo/Lowe’s couldn’t. Forget about big box stores, Palermo Wood Flooring is a better option.
Matt, the owner of Palermo Flooring, came punctually to give me an estimate for sanding and refinishing the floor in my bedroom in a pre-war coop. As compared with two other estimates that I had, his estimate was very fair and reasonable.The job included removing all the furniture from the room, sanding the floor, staining the floor and applying 3 coats of polyurethane and replacing all the furniture. There were 3 men on the job who were very polite and efficient. They did an EXCELLENT job and matched the color perfectly to the other hardwood floor that abuts the bedroom. There was minimal dust and the guys even remembered to hook up the TV and cable box the way they found it. I was extremely satisfied with Palermo and highly recommend the company. I would use them again without question. The young lady who works in the office, Ashley, is polite and responsive. She answers questions and emails promptly and it was a pleasure to deal with her,Dont bother looking anywhere else...go straight to Palermo Flooring!
Family business that puts customer satisfaction and service first!We had them rip out oak flooring in living room, dining room, entryway, and landing, and install new subfloor, and prefinished hardwood floors. Stairs and handrails were sanded and stained to match prefinished floor. Crew was on time, easy to work with, took extra care to block off adjacent rooms from dust, and cleaned up each day. I was unhappy with the color of the stained staircase and handrails. Matt Bruno stopped by to look at the job, and set my mind at ease. He told me not to worry, that they would make it right. Their crew returned weeks later due to pandemic restrictions to resand and stain. We are extremely happy with the results. Matt Bruno at Palermo is a floor whisperer. I wanted something very specific that my original contractor could not achieve. I called Matt and instantly knew he would do an amazing job. Great family run business that helped us determine the best course of action and then executed. I had carpet down in half of my house and when we ripped up the carpet the wood looked like it wouldn’t match the wood in the rest of the house. I was prepared to buy new wood for half the house to make sure it matched. However, Matt assured me that once we sanded and refinished both floors it would match and it did! Matt’s knowledge and honesty helped me save money, time and it looks great!

I see all these great reviews for Palermo. This is why I called them. I must have gotten them during a bad spell, or these reviews are bogus. I called Palermo, made an appt for an estimate. On the appt. day I sat and waited. No one showed up. I called Palermo. They lost the info about my appt:, but he remembered writing it down. Late that same afternoon, someone came to do an est, a very nice guy named Ben. He apologized for losing my appt info, and we walked through the job site. Weeks past and I never received the est. I called. They verified my E Mail and said they would send it then. Months have passed. Nothing! Don’t know if their work is good and I will never know.

Upfront we must state that we received a partial refund for the work performed.Following the floor sanding, staining and refinishing we asked them to come back and re-install the shoe molding which was done poorly the first time and to move the rest of the furniture back as agreed upon. Unfortunately, quite a bit of damage, mainly scratches and grooves occurred in the newly refinished floor because of the moving of furniture, such that we never really got to enjoy the newness of the job. Matt came and agreed that they could redo them with a find sanding and polyurethane coat, but it was just too much to contemplate moving all the furniture out etc. and dealing with the dust again.There was also damage to the plaster and door frames from moving furniture. Many places in the floor it is not smooth in that the sanding was not substantial and feels rough to the touch. The color of the floor is beautiful and consistent throughout. We did not realize that when selecting the color the polyurethane sheen was also determined and it seems it is a satin finish due to the kind of water-based product that is used. We would have liked a lot more sheen if it would have been possible.It has taken almost two weeks to touch up stain on the baseboards, paint walls where they had to be spackled, paint door frames after wood putty, pad the bottom of furniture, clean up excessive dust, move furniture, replenish closets, etc. We found while its not recommended, that spot sanding with fine wet sandpaper followed by oak stain has improved the appearance of the deep scratches in the floor but there are a few spots that we just have to live with.So, while others continue to review this company highly, our experience did not rate as a 5.

2022-09-09I am a custom builder with an emphasis on fine woodwork since 1977. Palermo Floor Finishing has done a dozen or more jobs for me over the last few years. Some jobs were refinishing old floors, other jobs were new natural wood floors that Palermo sanded, stained and clear coated or clear coated over the natural wood. They came to the job, measured, quoted and then scheduled upon my approval. They kept to the agreed schedule. They were helpful with making samples for clients to see and decide from. 2021-12-07These guys are the real deal. They did an excellent job with a European engineered floor installed over radiant heat. The various components arrived at different times and they came back to make sure the floor looked fantastic. We would have them back to work on another floor for us.

2021-10-08Palermo flooring resurfaced and coated oak hardwood flooring in 4 rooms of my house. Bona Traffic HD was used as the finish. Its supposed to be the most durable and long lasting. Some repair and replacement of boards was involved. Also missing inlays were replaced. The owner was courtious, knowledgeable and explained everything. He said that hed be there on the day of the job. On the day of the job though, he didnt appear. Instead, the workers asked me questions of what sealer to use and what finish. I was not able to answer these technical questions. That was the job of the owner. There was a lack of communication between the owner and the workers. This led to frustration and me needing to contact the owner and office so that they could relay to the worker what needs to be done. Apparently the owner had to go to another job site. This is the negative aspect of dealing with a big company. The sanding and repair work done, was amateur. I expected work of a professional. Theres gouges left by the sanding machine. Gouges where the worker replaced inlays and didnt even bother to sand properly. Missing inlays that filled up with sealer/finish. None of these things could be seen until the sealer was put on and dried and I could walk on the floor and inspect when the light shines on the floor and you could clearly see the waves where the machine dipped or gouged the floor. By then, I didnt want to call them back and have to go through the whole process agian of covering the kitchen from the dust, sanding, sealing, etc. So now Im left with the shoddy work. Also, it wasnt explained just how not shiny the Bona Traffic HD water based product is. It looks like a satin finish. And I like a high shine That you can only get with oil based finished. I didnt know it was going to be that not shiny.

2021-09-12I recently worked with Palermo to replace my tile floors with hard wood. Everything about the process exceeded our expectations. Matt was so knowledgeable and trustworthy in helping us make the right decisions on the wood to use. He was not just advising us so that he could make the most money on the job. The actual installation was so smooth, fast and easy. The crew was very kind and professional. I highly recommend Palermo Flooring and would definitely use them again for future work.

2021-08-02The definition of professional. From start to finish, i have never been more satisfied working with a company. The Secretary (I unfortunately forgot her name 😞) was very professional on the phone and setting up an appointment for an estimate was extremely easy. Matt did the initial estimate and showed up on time (in fact he was there earlier than I was). The price he gave us for the quality of work was more than fair. John and his apprentice sanded our floors and put down the finish. They were always on time and also early. Considering we were located in Rockville centre and they were all the way out east, its crazy to me that they still got here earlier than expected. John gave us a detailed breakdown of the entire process and at no point were there any hiccups. These guys are some of the last remaining true professionals on Long Island. I couldnt be happier with the results, and i look forward to working with them in the future. If you need flooring done, these are the guys to call. You will not regret it. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. Do not go to home depot. Give these guys your business, they absolutely deserve it.
