Great food, great people, good location -- and a secret homemade hot sauce!!Pastelón, tostones, and alcapurrias were fantastic, as was the mofongo con cerdo frito and the pernil. Didnt get a chance to try the jugo de chinola or horchata, but will next time! Bonus, the Stewarts across the street gives a free ice cream cone if its your birthday!
Out of all the local Hispanic-based restaurants I’d say Pan de Vida is the best. I’m not Puerto Rican but my bf is and though he thinks he can cook better, fresher tasting food, I think it’s great. Sometimes the pork is a little dry and salty but aside from that I have no problems with the food.
I called in an order for pickup and was so pleasantly surprised. Every aspect of my interaction was handled wonderfully, from great customer service on the phone to amazing quality food. I ordered an empanada sampler that had golden crispy pastry and piping hot, flavorful fillings. The cubano sandwich had tender, delicious pork, and the mango BBQ was the surprise hit of the order. Their yucca fries brought me back to my own mothers recipe, with a crunchy outside and fluffy inside. Plenty of sauce included, and the horchata I ordered was a taste of home.Really worth the drive down, its a small family operation and the portions are perfect for the price. Looking forward to ordering from here again!
I love Pan De Vida. I am not accustomed to eating Puerto Rican food so I cannot say this is the best out there, however this restaurant has never disappointed me in the least. The food is made without much wait and it doesnt taste rushed at all. For the price and quality, Pan De Vida is well worth the eat.
The food is amazing,. Unfortunately, with Covid they are not offering dining in at the moment, The food is wonderful. I would like to try everything on the menu. The night we visited orders were a little behind, but the people were very friendly and apologetic, Curbside pickup.
We loved the place as soon as we came through the door. The service was very good very friendly and helpful, the food was authentic varied and delicious, and the Latin American music made a festive atmosphere. The empanadas, horchatas and sandwiches were delicious, authentic and generous proportions!
Its not bad but its not anything worth going out of our way for.The hours are just right for a newly opened business. The cleanliness is ok. I didnt see anything that stood out as abnormal or gross. The bathroom is outside through the next facility. Its not something you want to deal with during winter. Perhaps they can use the suggestion to close during winter & only open for 3 seasons. We went during the lull (between lunch & dinner) so there was no croud - in fact, nobody else in there at all except for us & the waitress (who I think made the food herself, possibly?).I had a Caesar salad but the fried chicken was wayyyyy too dry. My partner had the pulled BBQ pork sandwich, which was ok. It was a good taste, the BBQ, but it tasted different. Not bad different or great different - just different. Its not far from us; about 30miles. If were out that way again, well probably stop back in to see if the atmosphere or the menu changed. They are trying to have a great interaction with the guests. They have an Empanada challenge & the waitress was fantastic. She is funny & smart. Upon our return I hope our next wait staff is nearly similar because it makes this place either win or fail. Her personality was great so thats why i gave the 4-star, as of March 2019.

First let me say that I absolutely love this place! I’m from NJ where you can find great Puerto Rican cuisine . Pan De Vida reminds me of home. The staff here are always friendly; they great you with a smile and genuinely show that they care. The food is absolutely amazingly delicious!! On May 3rd, I had a lot of family come to visit from NJ . I called and asked if Pan De Vida offered family sized entrees that would feed close to 20 people and they were able to accommodate with no problem. We ordered the Arroz con gandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas) and the sweet plantains.... All for an excellent price might I add!!! Some of my family arrived earlier than expected . I called to ask if we can get the order a little earlier .. 30 mins early to be exact... and they agreed and had it hot and ready for me with no hesitation when I came to pick it up. Pan De Vida is awesome! The food is delicious and the service is great!! I absolutely love this place and would recommend everyone to go check them out! You won’t be disappointed! I would give this place 100 stars if I could!!!
The food was ok I would go back but only for the fried cheesecake they dont seem to use much seasoning or sofrito in the rice or meat I only tasted salt I spent almost $100.00 on food for my family and no one liked it.The alcapurrias are made of yuca not plantain they were ok but again the meat had been cooked with little seasoning not much taste same as the relleno de papa not much flavor they need to use more adobo and sofrito the rice was pale not like the arroz con gandules Im used to eating. We season the gandules with sofrito achiote cilantro and then add the rice which gives it that flavor and orange color. Ill cook myself next time and spend $100.00 on groceries.
I would give it 5 stars but, I go there very often and you will get a great service from one of the the waitresses but there is another waitress that just has the worst attitude ever. For example even though we spend hundreds in there every month, when we asked if we could switch beans for extra rice she responds its already measured so she cant add some more rice even for a cost? What is this some fast food place where your whopper is already wrapped up? Come on, lady. So cross your fingers hope you get the nice lady...
Not impressed. Food looked and tasted like microwaved left overs.the decor is dated at best and restaurant smells like a bathroom. The brown walls is a giant no-go. It IS NOT authentic puerto rican food, or ambience. The food is slopped together with no passion or thought on how our dishes should be made. I wouldnt recommend this place if you are looking for an authentic experience. What a shame.
Food and service are always amazing. Every dish is prepared with the authenticity a Puerto Rican family could expect from a restaurant in the island. You truly can try some of the best food Puerto Rico has to offer just by visiting here. Do yourself a favor and ask about their pastries, they are amazing and its a shame its not on their menu. I will continue to go there for the foreseeable future.
Deliciouse food. Incredible staff. Wonderful management. At times a little pricey but I dont mind it too much. The host are pretty great and friendly for the most part and I the food definitely reminds me of home (PR). An experience that I will continually repeat for the rest of the time I am here in Watertown.
The best PR food youre going to get in this region of NY and frankly the ONLY PR food youre going to get in this region of NY. The food is good, but for the price, it could be better. Preparing and cooking PR food is labor intensive and thats probably what youre truly paying for, but still a bit over priced.
Worst place ever. Place is very shady. Beside an auto shop with rude workers. Food tasted horrible. Had what resemble beef, a child could do better. Would rather dumpster dive then have to eat here again. Vibe was very very very cheap and trashy. Only way to make this place better. . .new management. . . Completely level and start over!
Me and my husband arrived 40 mins before they closed, it was very quiet and no one was there lol and waited for about 5 mins so we rang the little bell they had and one of staff came out asking me in a rude manner how did we get in? We got in through the side door because the main door said if it was locked to enter through the side. And she that there only making to gos. Ive came here before and had the same vibe from the same lady lol. Didnt like the customer service but yes there food is good for being the few spanish places around!.

2022-02-08I do not understand why their hours are so inconsistent. The food is way over priced so it is not unreasonable to assume they have enough money to hire additional staff. The staff there are all nice, and the food is good, but how can I give it 5 stars when its never open. I went there yesterday and today and they were closed. I understand it is a family run business, but it is a BUSINESS. If they are not going to provide the goods and services they advertise they would do well to liquidate the business and try something else.

2022-06-11Dont get the Italian sandwich, literally had only 3 slices on the entire sandwich. Basically a loaf of bread with sauce.

2020-09-03The food we got was great. But we were skimped on the side salad for both meals. And the tripleta had about 1 scoop of meats. Delicious but not nearly enough for a $15 plate of 3 meats. Luckily there was a good amount of the mango pork that I couls share with my husband. That with the missing salads had our $36 lunch not really fill us up.I added some photos of the menu posted to their door.

2019-06-13Wow! Don’t think have Puerto Rican food before. This was very good and filling. My jaw dropped when the mango bbq pork sandwich came out. It’s a monster sandwich. The yuca fries are not heavily friend and properly seasoned. Cant wait to come back next month!

2021-07-31There is no sign. Look for the flag.I order Pernil Asado which is listed under the Mofongo. This is what l got. I wish Cuomo would let restaurants open inside so l could read a menu and ask a waitress questions. I paid $12.50 for shredded pull pork and candied plantains.

2018-03-01My son eats it all as you can see him in the picture smiling for more. Acaballo sandwich is great, hope I spelled it good. We enjoy eating here every time we get a chance, specially my wife. The people that work here are very friendly and welcoming. My wife, son and I always have great experience when we eat here. The price is very fair, stop being cheap people!
