This restaurant is a hidden gem that is also in plain sight. From the curb to the seat at the table, was nothing but exceptional service. Greetings with smiles and warm hellos made the evening well. Being seated my the river just as the sun was setting was a special treat. The view was priceless and beautiful. I enjoyed everything I tasted. If I had more room in my belly, I wouldnt have had any leftovers, which Im glad I did. The spicy pasta and seafood dish was better the next day. In addition to the serve, food and drinks what made it all the more special was to have the owner, Rich, come greet us. I cant tell you how special that was for us. He chatted with us for a bit and then contiued his round to other tables.Pane Vino on the River is my #1 spot for FRESH, MADE TO ORDER authentic Italian food.
A few minor changes could make this place a 5 star restaurant.Unfortunately we had a waitress who literally stole another waitresses table (presumably to gain more tip $).The food was a little on the salty side.Unfortunately the chef did not prepare the clams properly. Full of sand and grit. To properly clean clams you need to leave them in clean water to let them expel all the sand and dirt so you don’t bite into it while you chew.Beautiful atmosphere. All the other servers (other than ours) seemed very kind and pleasant. For the high prices of the food here, I would expect better. If the prices were lower I would have given 4 stars. But when you pay that kind of money for food you expect the best.
Pretty good food but the service was rather slow, which was disappointing. but it’s a good find, however!! good food, good dessert. just beware that you do have to pay for either metered parking or a parking garage but it’s not too bad. Maybe a dollar or two would do it if you can find parking.
Food is amazing and the price point isnt bad for the quality of food. We go about every other month! Wish we could go more but the bill can add up quick! They have great menu items so we have to try a few things! We had the great cider and gin drink that was simple and impressive!!
Called on a Saturday night for carry out and a very nice hostess said she would check if they could do carry out; no big deal. 4 minutes later was again greeted with “thank you for holding” I told the man who answered somebody was checking for me. Said we don’t do carry out on the weekend; no big deal…. But should have been told this prior.I asked if he knew of anything similar I might. E able to get food. Rudely says “try grub hub they deliver.” Considering I was looking to pickup from a place that openly says they don’t deliver when I would rather support a restaurant than grub hub.Put on your website you don’t do carry out on weekends. It’ll stop patrons from being dealt with by rude staff
Fantastic restaurant! Their chicken parm is out of this world. Normally, I don’t order something I can make at home. I claim I can make chicken parm, but if you try this chicken parm you will realize that you’re defiantly not making it correctly. I absolutely love this restaurant. I can’t get enough of their Sunday sauce, or the chicken French. I tried the fried calamari, and it’s the only restaurant I will eat it from. Highly recommend going! Make sure you plan in time to have a drink at the bar before dinner and some dessert after! If you go in the summer and sit on the river it’s even nicer!
Pane Vino promised a lot with its charming decor and nice atmosphere, but what let it down ultimately was the food.I started with the calamari: the portion size was good but although they were nicely cooked (and not overcooked) they were a bit bland. Even the marinara sauce wasnt that great. As an entrée I had the chicken Anthony which was decidedly poor: chicken swimming in a soupy broth with sloppy cheese and peas to garnish. I felt that the dish was a homogenous mush with no real contrasts or interest - I dont know if this was a bit of bad luck but it wasnt great.Otherwise the meal was fine, but unremarkable; the service was decent and the Chianti was surprisingly good for the price.
Simply put, its so fancy, that they told me I couldnt wear my hat in the dining room. The atmosphere of the facility was absolutely stunning. I stepped into the building and felt I was in old time Italy. There is an antique accent complimented by a modern base. The food was crafted with a great excellence, and their selection of drinks was wide.
Great restaurant! My wife and I had a wonderful dinner on their patio overlooking the river. Everything about the visit was great! They have free valet service for parking and great service throughout our dinner, from refills to recommendations. Jasmine was a superb waitress. Now lets talk food, my wife loved the vodka penne, and I loved the special that included halibut over pasta. Peanut Buttercup cheesecake and their pound cake are DELICIOUS!
I called on January 22nd to make a reservation for my husband and I to celebrate Valentines Day on our only night off...I called to confirm prior to our reservation time & the gentleman told us he had no record of the reservation. He said that he never spoke to me or recognized the name on the reservation, so I guess I imagined this phone call.Very unprofessional & disorganized... luckily, were not going to let it ruin our night, but I would highly recommend planning elsewhere for special events.
It was a very nice, calm, warm atmosphere. The food was all excellent. The bread comes with garlic butter and olive oil, parmesan, and pepper as dipping options. We also had a couple appetizers, entrees and deserts. I loved the Vodka Penne and the Tiramisu. The staff was very nice. We went there with our 7 month old daughter and they made us room for her stroller and got us hot water for heating up her bottle. As we were leaving, there was a live performer in the front bar area singing some nice music. Our daughter was very interested as we waited for the valet to pull our car up. He sang to her and waved. It was a really nice evening.
A terrific family owned Italian eatery with impeccable service, wonderful variety of menu selections and an atmosphere of best dining experience. Located downtown in a cool area, this is a must on a repeat list for people who appreciate the enjoyment of receiving a nice experience.
I can’t get over how amazing our dining experience was last night. My husband and I were out celebrating our wedding anniversary and this was the first time we went to Pane Vino. The ambiance was beautiful as soon as we walked in. It was perfect. Then the service, it was some of the best service we’ve ever experienced. This went for not only us, but the tables around us as well. Everyone was so attentive. Our appetizer, entree and dessert were all timed perfectly apart where we felt like we had enough time to enjoy and prepare for the next part of the meal. The food was so delicious and prepared perfectly. Even the oil and butter that came with the bread was ridiculously good. The amount of food you receive was also unreal. I cannot wait to go back!
I cant understand why this place has anywhere above 4 stars. None of the food is cooked fresh, from the seafood to the pasta and even the dessert is ALL frozen. Olive Garden does a better job, for a reasonable price. The dining room is dull and outdated, the patio is alright until someone shows up to sing Jason Mraz and Imagine Dragons from 09.The entire kitchen staff is clearly misogynistic to their core and an just an angry group of old men. They spend their nights going on power trips and tossing pasta in the microwave that theyll then expect you to pay $50 for. After all is said and done, they go and make the serving staff uncomfortable any way they can think of.This place is mismanaged, unkept, overcharging, run-down and just not the kind of business that should be getting any kind of support. But yeah go enjoy your from-frozen $40 mussels
The best part of this place was the singer.Food was very average, but portion size was great. Pasta and squid were undercooked. You ask for house wine and they pretend they never heard you and try to upsell you something more expensive. We just got our food and the staff asked us twice within 15 minutes if we needed to-go boxes.I think they were trying to push people out after an hour being seated to make the next reservations work. If you can finish your order and eat your food within 45 minutes, this may not bother you.I come here for the atmosphere and that is still in tact. Just tweak the food and the slightly below average service (trying to force us to leave after 45 minutes) and you would be 5 stars.
Lovely atmosphere, welcoming attentive staff, delicious dinner. Just perfect. I’m afraid my crew was a bit sloppily attired but we were still treated very graciously. Next time we’ll smarten up a bit. It really is a lovely place for a romantic dinner or a special occasion or just a really good meal. The price is fitting for the quality and the portions are quite substantial.
I was born and raised in Italy then moved to US. My whole family is Italian so I really wanted to give this place a chance but what a mistake...They claim being Italian and preparing homemade food but not only the food is not authentic but also worse than fast food. What a dupe! Anyone from Italy or who would have been there at least once would recognize that after the first look and bite. Don’t waste your money or time, it’s not worth it.
Definitely not worth the money. The atmosphere and outdoor seating was beautiful. My party of four had a reservation at 6:30. By the time we found parking we were sat at 6:37. We did not get greeted for THIRTY minutes after being seated. And the only reason we ended up having a waitress come to our table was because we had to ask for one. A fair number of tables were near us and there were at least 4 servers circulating throughout the outdoor patio. Not a single one stopped to ask if someone was helping us. And when I said we weren’t acknowledged I mean we didn’t get water, drinks, nothings. The next day someone from our group ended up emailing the manager of the restaurant about the poor service and the manager called my friend and gave him attitude and was rude about the fact that we reached out because we were unhappy.Another issue I had was with the prices. I had the pesto pasta and paid $10 to have shrimp added to it. Another diner at my table got the blacked shrimp fettuccine. After my $10 shrimp addition the two dishes came out to be the same prices. HOWEVER, my dish only got 2 shrimp and she had 5 on her plate, which doesn’t make the most sense to me. How to two shrimp dishes that cost the same price have such a vast difference in the amount of shrimp? Overall everything was average and overpriced and the poor service definitely solidified the fact that I would not return nor recommend.
Im still cautious eating out, and do glad this was the place we picked. The food was incredible. We had the scallops and the pork chop, so good! And the artichoke appetizer special, I will go back anytime they have that! Most importantly, the staff were attentive to us and to following ALL the guidelines. It felt very safe amdaand comfortable and there is nothing more important than that. Well done, Pane Vino!
Great interior design. Right on the river and some of the tables have a good view of it. The bar is a bit tight and its the way to the restaurant so once it gets crowded at the bar its difficult to get to your table. Food is great too and we had good service. Limited parking at this location but they do have a valet service. Cant wait to go back.
The atmosphere and food as superb. Our waitress fantastic as well. However, the GM was very insulting to 2 of our guests. We were a table of 6 enjoying a Christmas dinner with fellow employees. The GM came over to our table numerous times and one instance when one guest had his phone out to check the Bills score he told him to turn down the volume when the phone was muted and insisted he heard it, complete fabrication. For a table buying 4 bottled of wine and spending well over $600 that night you would think some common courtesy would be afforded by the GM.
Another great meal last night. The fillet was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere is so inviting. Love the attentive service and the chef had no problem making our dish gluten free. With the wide selection at the bar and free valet service I place this restaurant as a true 5 star experience.
Great food and service. Prices reflect the quality of the food which is good so expect $40-$65 for the main meal option. Portions were great, our party of six had three small take home containers. Parking is street or free valet! There was a live musician that wasnt too loud and he played a variety of tunes. Our server was also just phenomenal, we had a few questions and she took her time with us, we were her priority it felt like even though she had other tables. We will come back for sure!
Went for first time this week. Had a drink in the very busy bar. Seated at a very comfortable table by the rail overlooking the river. Very nice wait staff, a some what over amplified duo playing/singing live. My 3 dinner companions shared an appetizer of fried calamari which they pronounced delicious. Great dinner main courses had by each of us. A veal chop special was so large it probably could easily fed two or three. The owner came by the table to see if all was well, a very nice man who actually seemed interested in our responses not just wandering around hoping for pats on the back as some owners do.All in all a very pleasant evening Im sure I will be returning.
Went here tonight with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time. The food was hot and delicious. The wine was great. Great portions for the price especially compared to other nice restaurants of comparable merit. And the staff was all extremely friendly and helpful. I also loved how the owner sat us at our table. More than happy to come again!
We went there for our little 10 year anniversary dinner. A little bit on the pricey side ($22 and up for dinner item, but not like pricey pricey fancy. I mean, if you were to compare this with $10-$15 dinner, then this is pricier), but let me tell you, its worth it! We normally dont normally like pricey-looking restaurants just because we expect so much out of what we pay for(quality-wise). This one though, was so good. All the expectations were EXCEEDED and were picky about our food. I got artichoke ravioli-- the sauce was AMAZING! It totally wowed me at the first bite! My husbands choice was asparagus with chicken and bacon mashed potatoes. It was good too. We like how the sauce was made with fresh tomato (or it tasted that way to us, anyway). Asparagus could have used some extra screen for the tough part. Thats the only thing.Good ambient and service. Seriously, if I could give more stars out, I would!
This is one of the best restaurants in Rochester and one of our favorites, we visited recently with a party of 6. It was one of those evenings where it seemed possible to sit outside, so we attempted to do so. It became apparent it was too cool, and the owner and staff graciously kept a table for us and moved us inside. We had a fabulous meal, my steak and shrimp special was incredible, everyone in our party was pleased. Our server was cheerful and accomplished, contributing to a relaxed and satisfying evening. Visit Pane Vino, you will enjoy the experience.
Great restaurant in downtown rochester. Really nice interior with a really, really nice outdoor courtyard. Excellent menu that is primarily italian. Service is always great and the specials offer a nice variety. Easy on street parking or take advantage of their valet parking. Highly recommend.
First time, definitely not our last! The experience from start to finish was amazing. The valet opened my door. Our hosted seated us right away in a very romantic quiet corner. The food was truly spectacular, I had the chicken Giuseppe, he had the viel Anthony. Cant wait to check out the outdoor seating by the river next time!
A classic, professional staff with no pretense: friendly, focused and customer centered. Food is consistently well prepared and current, but not edgy. Very, very nice.Traditional plates, but not outdated. The physical atmosphere of the place is warm and open...yet cozy, never noisy. Well chosen menu and wine list.
Great food and a great atmosphere! Food and service is top notch. I would recommend this place to anyone! I love that the owner came to our table and introduced himself and genuinely wanted to know if we were enjoying ourselves and the food. We had a great time and look forward to coming back.
Went out to dinner with a friend that I havent seen in a while. We got there an hour and a half before close, but didnt get our main course until after the restaurant had technically closed. An hour and half four our main, without getting an appetizer. It was honestly ridiculous. Our waitress wasnt rude but she wasnt particularly nice to my friend or I. She didnt check on us regularly and our water was left empty for most of the evening. When our food finally came we were rushed to finish. When the check came no one picked it up for 10 minutes, at which point we both just wanted to leave. The owner then came over and asked us how the meal was, when we said it was fine with no more explanation, he pushed asking if it was the wait or if the food was bad. It was unnecessary and made us uncomfortable. Overall poor service, okay food, high prices, poor wait staff, and long waits for food or any type of service.
This has been my go to restaurant for many years- bring friends, celebrate my birthday but last night it just did not work for us. We had a reservation and was seated promptly. It was at least 5 minutes before our waitress came over telling us specials prior to asking if we wanted a drink. I ordered the greens and beans as an appetizer. I tasted no garlic but was struck with the red pepper flakes. Not as advertised or as I have had it before. The marinara sauce on my pasta- again spicy hot. Salads were good, entrees were very good but the overall experience was not there last night. The couple we were with hesitated leaving a 20% tip-unlike them.
Finally, a chef who knows how to cook seafood, without getting it overdone, and serves the food hot!!! Six of us had a delicious meal here, five different entrees, and they all were good. The beet and goat cheese salad had many beets and was delicious. I have gotten salads where you could hardly find the beets, not here. The fried mozzarella was not your normal appetizer, delicious. Likewise the caprese salad and the meatballs. The pasta was wonderful, as was the seafood. We will definitely be back here!! The live music on Sunday was great!!
The food is excellent. We have always gone in the winter until recently. This last time we went at the end of June. They always have a live artist singing in the background which is normally nice, but this last time he was WAY too loud!So much that we couldnt converse across the table so we had to ask for a table outside. It would have been wonderful if it wasnt 90 degrees that day.
My husband has brought me a couple times to this restaurant and I must say that the service, food and quality meets beyond my expectations. You can sit outside for when its nice and sunny out or sit inside for a more romantic setting. Blanche is my favorite waitress so far!
The food was perfectly executed, came out hot and quick, and even the bread details were delicious. With Basil butter, and the classic: oil, parm, and red pepper mixture that my mother and grandmother used to make to dip ,the warm crusty bread was probably my favorite part of the visit 😌The view was perfect. Right on the river, literally.I took my 6 month old baby with me, and it was no problem at all that I needed to roll my stroller on through the back.We arrived at 5 on opening, and it was very slow, &&&&& Im only lacking one star, because out of all the women Ive encountered: The Hostess, the girl who was not my waitress, but whom brought my waters, bread and everything else...My server, was horrible. She seemed miserable, and she ONLY took my order. I never interacted with her again. Came out, barely said 2 words, and slammed her book shut, never once smiles, and was gone. I even waited after my meal to pay, and the sweet girl who brought my bread finally took my credit card.BUT I REFUSE TO LET THE WORLD RUIN MY LOVE OF FOOD, AND THIS PLACE MAKES AN AMAZING CHICKEN FRENCH. AMAZING.
I enjoy lunches here, the service and food is out of this world. I would consider this a hidden gem in Rochester. The Italian food is exceptional and the service is very helpful. During lunch time I have never had an issue getting a table nor have I needed to make a reservation. I would recommend coming here.
I have been to Pane Vino twice within the past month and have received TERRIBLE service. The first time I went with a party of 8 for a friends birthday. We had reservations at 8pm. We were not seated until 9:30pm. Two members of the party had to leave early because it was taking so long. We ordered and got our food fairly fast which was nice, however 10 minutes after our food was brought out we were asked if we wanted dessert when the group responded no, our bill was placed on the table. We were at the table for approximately 25 minutes after an hour and a half wait for our RESERVATION. It was an awful dinner experience. Not to mention the restaurant isn’t that large so while we were waiting an hour and a half to be seated we were told to move because we were in the way.The second time I went, also for a birthday celebration, it took an hour wait for our food. Also no one would refill our empty water glasses. The table had to ask serveral times before someone finally refilled our glasses. At the end of dinner the waitress made a mistake with our bill, which mistakes happen, however was then rude to our party about her mistake.Safe to say I won’t be back anytime soon which is a shame because they have great food.
What a lovely restaurant. Its even better in the summer when you can enjoy eating outside. Service was phenomenal tonight. The food ranges from good to great depending on what you order. My friend had the carbonara which looked and tasted great. The primavera was okay. We thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and lobster Wellington appetizer special.Parking in the area is a problem but they have a complimentary valet.
These folks are amazing. We hadnt any reservations for today, our other plan fell through and they made a place for us today. It was so appreciated. My mother said it was the best meal shes ever had. We were not as dressed up as most of the patrons, but they treated us so nicely and made us comfortable. Definately recommend this to everyone. Great food💜💗💖
Food was OK. Service was terrible. Claimed to not have 7:30, so made us make reservations for 8:30. Once there so many tables were open. Upon seating took forever for drinks or even our food. Meanwhile a couple of people come in, dressed incredibly casual (place said classy initimate romantic), who then get served before us. From sitting down to even being asked about dessert was over an hour and a half!
Went here for dinner with a group of 8 this past Saturday. The meal, as always, was delicious! Service was great, too! Our server, Jarod, was attentive yet unobtrusive. He had a great sense of humor, too! Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back!
This is the restaurant I have gone to with a part owner of the company I work for. It has a very pleasant atmosphere; upscale but not uncomfortable. The prices were reasonable for each of the excellent meals I have had. (There was one orange pork dish that was amazing, but it was just a special for the day/week.)The bread could have been better as one commenter mentioned, but its only worth mentioning in contrast with everything else that is so good about the place.I didnt mind walking through the bar to get to the restaurant. Contrary to another commenter, I found the bar clientèle pleasant.
We had reservations for a party of 8 Audits and 4 children at 6:00 PM. We arrived about 5 minutes late, (traffic/parking), in were the hostess, abruptly, said that they had another party assigned to our table at 8:00 PM. At the time, I didn’t think this would be a problem, since there, (Very Pricey),Menu was very limited to there specialty dishes. It took our server over a 30 minutes to come back to the table to take our, stating there were very busy, (which means to me overbooking with not enough help ). Then we had to wait another hour and 20 minutes before the first meal came out. The meal I order ,( $26 over priced Chicken French ), was very gritty and tough, along with cold pasta. The rest of the group had similar issues with the meal, after just along wait. The ambience of the restaurant is top notch, but the service , the food and the prices all suck. I will not go back again
Everything was great! From the bread being crisp on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. To the salad being fresh and crisp. Wine was amazing. My husbands pasta was perfect. I got the filet with red wine reduction and gargonzola. The cheese was a little much for my taste and the steak could have been cooked a little more to my liking. The potato qroquette was so good along with the carrots. All in all it was a delicious meal. Would recommend it. I know we will be going back.
Our first time eating at the restaurant. We were seated immediately, and our hostess (waitress), JANELLE was OUTSTANDING. We are on vacation from Spokane, Wa., have eaten at many restaurants coming across country, and NO ONE gave us the service this young lady provided. Orders were taken, drinks provided, and when the food came to the table, it was HOT!! I cannot thank Janelle enough for the GREAT service she provided.... loved the restaurant, the atmosphere was very quiet and pleasant and IF I could give a 10 * rating, this restaurant and waitress (Janelle) would DEFINATELY get it.Want a GREAT meal, Pane Vino on the River, is THE place to go!!Myself: I ordered the steak fillet with salt potatoes. Absouletely PERFECTLY cooked, I cannot remember the last time my steak was this perfect... loved the meal!!!Love the restaurant, and LOVED the waitress, JANELLE !!
I tried to eat here with my husband. 2 hrs after ordering, we still never got our entrees and we decided to leave. We had been told our food was coming right up for about 45 min and it never arrived. We never got an apology or anything when i said we just wanted to pay for our appetizers and leave. Apparently, we werent the only ones with issues. On our way our, another customer started telling disruptively and a lady behind us was arguing with a server about a steak. The other diner on our side said it was like dinner theater, but i guess im looking for something else in a dinner experience.
Service is terrribleeeee. They take forever to do anything. It wasn’t even that busy. They’re prices are too high to give slow and poor customer service. We hardly ever saw our server(Ashley) There is no reason for our drinks to sit completely empty for 20+ minutes. When my food came the chicken was burnt. Another 20 minutes before i saw her again to tell her there was an issue. Then she had the nerve to tell me because of the bread crumbs thats how it’s cooked. NO NO NO you dont burn chicken parm. My friend ordered the same exact thing and hers wasn’t burnt. She didn’t even look at the chicken before throwing that lame excuse. Once she realized it was BLACK she took it back and it was remade. I love italian food, and was looking forward for a really quality meal. However, it tasted really basic to me. The ambiance was nice, the bartender was sweet, they give large portion sizes, and I loved how they bring out the desserts. This is why they get two stars. However, I’ve definitely had better italian food, and experienced WAY better hospitality elsewhere.
Everything about Pane Vino was outstanding. From being greeted out front, until we walked out the door, this place delivered. Excellent quality, perfect choice for a romantic evening out, or a place to celebrate a special day. I cannot say enough good about this place. You will not regret visiting here.
Facility attractive, took 1/2 hour for bread. Had to ask twice. Salads very good. My wife had halibut special. So much salt she couldnt eat it. My veal dish was ice cold. Sauce had flavor of Franco American spagetti. Friends veal dish served over arugala. It had so much dressing on the salad that it ruined the veal. Hadnt been to the restaurant since it since it first opened. Wont ever go back. Service still slow.
We dine here 2-3 times a year (birthdays & annniversary). 2 people, $150- $200 with a bottle of wine average.. This last visit we were extremely disappointed. While the food was exceptional, the service was poor and the fruit flies were annoying. I mentioned this to the general manager and his reply was that it was Rochester problem this year?. When I inquired about a Nebbiolo wine we liked when we were in Toronto he said he never heard of such a wine and made me feel uncomfortable . Unfortunately, never again.
I love everything about this restaurant. The food is amazing, I have never had a bad meal, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I would highly recommend trying! If you are reading reviews, please also be mindful that I think the owners had changed a little bit ago so some of the older reviews that are not so nice, dont seem to be accurate at this point.
A great place, with great food and a great location! We were celebrating our 2nd anniversary together and my girlfriend and I wanted to find a local place while stopping in Rochester. We booked a reservation 2 hours in advance and they had availability for 7:30 pm. We pulled up to the restaurant, they did offer free valet parking, but we wanted to park the car ourselves. We did drive around a bit for parking, but we did end up finding a spot about a block away from the restaurant. We walked in and asked if we could have a table outside, we had to wait 5 minutes for them to prep the table, which was fine with us, we got a drink at the bar and before we finished our drink they were ready to seat us. The entrees were great! We recommend the lobster bisque to start! Everyone from the host, the bartender, the waitress, and bussers were great! Whenever we go back to Rochester we will stop at Pane Vino again!
The food was terrible and the manager was rude! We were out celebrating a birthday and when the food came out wrong twice the manager came over and said thats medium rare when clearly it was not and then proceeded to roll his eyes! I felt bad for the waitress who was a complete sweetheart. It would be nice to go down there and get drinks on the river but I would never eat there again.
Good service at the bar. Bartenders can carry a conversation which is always a bonus. Oban isnt overly priced for the quantity that you get which is nice to see at any restaurant that you go to. Food was superb and above the standards that Ive seen at other locations which serve similar dishes.
My husband’s food and mine needs lotações salt to test okay.I brought some home added seared pan onion and some spices and it tested much better.Due to covid stuff should be better trained. They hold the glass of water near to the him without gloves, the same with the dish that they bring food. I saw someone opening a bottle of wine and put her finger around the mouth of bottle.I wondered if they cut the bread with bare hands. We are trying to prevent unnecessary contact and this was first experience dinning after the covid and truly made me concerned.I guess this an easy problem to correct.People are very friendly, great life music and nice atmosphere and price is fair.
Was told great things about the restaurant. When I called to make a reservation because I saw them on my Open table app and it wouldn’t take my request, a hostess answered. I told her what happened and she put me on hold. The guy that answered was incredibly rude, not sure if he was the manager or owner, but basically yelled at me for calling, said that they weren’t on open table, there’s 10 pane vinos across the country, and that, he was tired of getting these calls. I told him that we were thinking about coming in tonight, but after his poor customer service skills, we would be going somewhere else. He responded by saying whatever, and hanging up. Had a great meal at Lento instead, who graciously took my reservation. Must be nice to be so busy that you can be rude to perspective guests.
Although we live in Ohio I never pass Rochester New York without stopping at Pane Vino. IT is my favorite restaurant period. Service and quality of food always exceeds my expectations. The owner is one hell of a guy and busts his butt to make you feel at home. Dont miss it!
Pane Vino is a fine Italian restaurant, featuring homemade pasta and fine dining dishes such as chicken French, pork loin, multiple seafood dishes and steak. The quality of food is excellent. the ambiance is very nice in any season however especially nice in the summer when you can sit by the River on the porch.
Poor experience. Wine poured was not the correct selection. The menu advertised vegan options but the waiter could not explain anything about them, then the food I chose came out with cheese and totally undercooked vegetables. Very expensive. This was a birthday treat for someone but Im never going back.
I am a first time customer and my best friend and I went to Pane Vino to celebrate her birthday. She called to make reservations early in the week. When we arrived Saturday night we were told by the man staffing the hostess station no reservations were made under her name and they dont take reservations for 7:30pm. We were then told by the host that there are more than thirty Pano Vino restaurants in the country and she may have called the wrong one. Is there more than one in Rochester, NY? He did seat us but we both felt as if we did something wrong when their staff must have had a miscommunication. When our hostess brought us to our table she said that this happens often. Still didnt make us feel better since we felt we were shamed from the moment we entered the restaurant. The food was off the charts and our wait staff was excellent but every dining experience starts from the moment you walk through the door.
Their surf & turf special was grossly over priced (which was not known until the bill came), and the portion was VERY small.Service was poor. We had to have another server find our waiter so we could get a 2nd round of drinks. Took him quite a while to finally take our order, never checked on us after delivering our food. Bill came with gratuity already added (even though we were only a party of 6). The bill was over $400 and less than 5 MINUTES after paying we were asked to leave so they could seat another party. We left IMMEDIATELY without saying a word, and went to another restaurant for after dinner drinks. There are A LOT of better places to spend your hard earned money within the city of Rochester
Food was excellent, except we were disappointed that the clams in the Clams Casino were not kept whole, but were chopped and mixed in with the topping. We agreed that the Clams Possillipo, recommended by our waiter, were delicious! Our entrees, Seafood Vincenzo and Veal Anthony, were amply portioned and also delicious. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu and Espresso Creme Brulee. Both were good but the creme brulee had no taste of espresso. Service was mostly good, however, we did have to ask for our bread two times before it was brought to us. We ate outside by the river and it was lovely!
Pane Vino may be one of Rochesters best kept secrets. I knew it was there for years and finally stopped in at the recommendation of a friend. The bar and dining room are beautiful and the staff are among the best in Rochester. In my opinion, the food is the best quality and flavor in western New York. We are frequent diners for both business and foodies in our personal life so we have been to a lot of the best Rochester area restaurants.Over and above the delicious choies on the menu, the wait staff and the chef will graciously create a dish with ingredients of your choice. The chef also makes the best home made fresh gluten free pasta I have ever tasted. Everyone I have referred Pane Vino to has raved about their experience. FYI, they have valet parking.
What a beautiful, end of the summer night spent at Pane Vino. As stated in their name, this restaurant overlooks the Genesee River. We were able to snag a table outside on this warm, but comfortable night.I chose the pasta primavera and my friend decided on the chicken giuseppe. The pasta had a nice variety of veggies and it paired quite well with the wine sauce. I wasnt a huge fan of the subtle citrus notes, however, it was still appetizing. As for the Giuseppe, my gf kept raving about it!
Pane Vino was a great stop while visiting family in Rochester NY. Its a great little Italian restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating options and great views. The pasta and sauce were great and the people were very nice. They get an A for service and A for food quality. Easily and highly recommended.
My experience tonight was the worst.... I called 4 hours in advance for an 8 o’clock reservation, they said I don’t need one just walk in. We sat at our table we wait a whole 20 min for a server by the time she gets to our tables everyone already knows what they would like to eat so we place our drinks and food all at once .... we get our drinks and after that we see know no one for 45 min my boyfriend pulls the first employee and asked him about our appetizers the employee said they would search for our server and check in our appetizers for us ....a whole 20 more minutes go’s by so I go inside and ask to speak to a manager an older man approached me I informed him we had been waiting for our appetizers for one hour and we didn’t want them if our appetizers and dinner would be coming at the same time... in the process of us talking our server walks pass us with all our food ALL our FOOD .... so I just go back to my table and try to enjoy my dinner with my family ... then the owner approaches our table and starts yell at me saying that I call his waiter stupid ... I told him that I had NO word with his waiter and when I went inside I asked for a manager he continued to yell at me so my boyfriend who was beyond mad at this point gets up from the dinner table and pulls him to the side and the owner is having a full blown argument with him in front of other customers... at this point I can’t even eat we boxed our food and left ... It was literally the most embarrassing moment ever we work very hard so we enjoy fine dinning and this experience was the end for me I will never return
The only reason one star is even part of this rating is so I could leave a response.. After waiting a half an hour for water and bread our frazzled waiter finally came over to take our drink order, we then as a party of 6 finished our bread and was offered more and then continued to wait another long stretch to not have it come out until after our food had been brought out, mind you an hour and a half after we had been sitting there. The waiter was less then attentive to our table and when he brought the bill before asking how everything was if as a group of 6 we would like the bill split up, we all were beyond shocked at the price of our meal and the extremely high gratuity that had already been added to our bill, from a server who we had spoken the manger about being rude a number of times. When the manager approached he was not genuine nor sypathetic to the fact that we had now been at the restaurant for three hours and were all beyond unsatisfied especially myself for spending 76$ just on myself. He then continued to push blame on to his other employees instead of apologizing for his server who the OWNER himself said he had only had four tables and couldnt understand why the service was so poor. The only great part about this evening was the company of my girlfriends and your vallet service.
What an amazing experience the vibe of the dinning area the window I sat next to as I looked out I can see the genessee river and the live music was phenomenal and yet to describe the food is yet out of this world the juices of the meat are so flavorful it have you begging more and the waitress stunning kind sweet and amazing I will definitely be back Richardthank you for so much for this wonderful experience 😍
I went to a work dinner with ladies I hadnt seen in years, the environment was nice and service was good, food was pretty good. Honestly not the best. Just a warning for anyone going there for a work lunch, they will NOT split checks, so any work dinner, its their policy to not split a check. . . This made it kinda nightmare paying. . .
Terrible experience. It took over 40 minutes for them to serve the main course, and the waiter was hardly seen. The meat was very fatty and not cooked well. The Valet guide didn’t know which car it was and overall do not recommend the place to anyone. This place should be closed down ASAP
Service was good. Waited a while for our food. Knowing it was a great italian restaurant I would have expected better pasta entrees! Same selection I could get from Olive Garden. I had tortellini with peas, bacon, and mushrooms. WAY too many onions and hardly any bacon. Pasta was obviously store bought and it had sat in the window dying waiting for my husbands dish to be ready.Worst of all was the live music. A man, playing a synthesizer with preset musak, as he played along and sang? At least his voice was in tune. I could barely hear my husband speaking to me.The best part of the meal was the appetizer which was seemingly handmade butternut squash ravioli. But for $12, could we have at least gotten 4 of them so we could have shared instead of three?

2022-07-04Absolutely fantastic. Service was 100% on point. The food was well prepared, full of flavor. They had the largest shrimp I’ve ever eaten and the pasta had to be home made. The specials were so unique and tasty. The owner came to introduce himself and asked about our meal and experience. Must go in Rochester

2021-12-14I chose this restaurant to go and celebrate my 30th anniversary with friends. I loved it. The food was delicious, portions we great for the money. I really enjoyed the live music. I really wanted to dance but wasn’t sure if it was allowed. The reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars is because no one had on a mask. In the environment that we live in it is absolutely important. Even if all staff members were fully vaccinated, they still need to mask. They can contact and spread COVID. I felt very uncomfortable each time a server came to our table.

2021-11-29Cozy nice restaurant, friendly staff. The owner came to ask how was everything at the end of the meal, we like to see dedication like that. The food was great, The plates were big, you might end up with a take out bag. The highlight of the night was the live singer on the keyboard. He sang for the whole time we were there and the songs selection were a perfect fit for the supper

2022-02-12Ordered an appetizer, salads and 2 meals. Burrata was good, the Caesar salads were lacking in flavor, I hate a lot of dressing but these salads had almost none. Salmon had good flavor, but was overcooked. Chicken parm with pasta was good. Bread was amazing 😋

2022-05-24This is my second time coming here and I love the food. I am just not pleased with the host. He does not smile. He is so in a rush and doesnt really welcome you in a lively manner. He sat me in a corner in the dark and finally realized he need to turn on the corner light. But the waitress was so nice and apologized for not attending to me quick enough. But love the food

2021-09-27A delightful experience, Pane Vino is one of the most beautiful Italian restaurants that I visited in the city. I enjoyed my Caesar salad but really appreciated my delightful waitress and the other staff that we interacted with while on our visit. It was clear that they really cared about the quality of food they put out. Definitely recommend!

2022-03-14Amazing restaurant! One of the greatest Italian restaurants I’ve ever been too. The steak and lamb was amazing as well as the dessert. I even got to buy a souvenir wine glass. Hopefully I’ll be able to eat here again. I’m from Chicago.

2022-05-05Food was excellent. Owner was present, checked in with us to ensure we were satisfied with the meal. Little pricey, but great place for an occasional date night if youre looking for a special place.
