The young boy sold me a dying shrimp and told me it was just pregnant.He asked me if I was fine with having a pregnant shrimp and I said yes. When I saw it I asked if its dying because its orange and he responded no, its just pregnant. I got home and its already dead in the bag. If I added it to my tank it could of infected all of my other shrimp with anything it could of had. Dont trust anything this shop tells you.Attached is a photo of the shrimp in the bag.
Very friendly and helpful. They wont tell you something wrong just to make a sale. They have a little bit of everything.

Great spot but the staff... not friendly anymore. I feel like Im a bother whenver I walk in the store and ask for anything. Esp the chunky cheek asian looking dude. Lazy is what I call it. Not a good feeling.. also Too expensive for pet accessories (rocks, plants, tanks etc.) Only good thing they have is decent good salt water fish. Dont overwork the Stagg they will clearly show you are annoying them. Smfh.

I bought my 2 koi angels here for 10 each. This place has a variety of freshwater and saltwater fish. I would definitely recommend to buy angel fish here.
Been coming here for years. The owner is a wonderful, friendly man. Always ready to help you and give you advice. Only place I go for salt and fresh water fish.
This small place is ok to buy your fishes and supplies. But is so hot inside there, the people who works there are so rude and gives you are bad face impressions when you ask them for help with the tropical fishes. If you dont like your job, dont be there. People should be with more hospitality manners when comes to customers.
Amazing place with VERY helpful staff. Had an issue with my aquarium and the advice they gave has been working phenomenally! They’ve got a great selection of fish, other animals, and necessities for them all as well! One downside is how hot it can be in there, which is acceptable considering the fact that they sell warm water and tropical fish, plus the water adds to the humidity. If you head in here when it’s cold out, make sure you take your jacket off, haha! One thing’s for sure is that I’m never going to PetCo again. I can see they take amazing care of all their fish and the rest of their animals as well. Can’t wait to buy some fish from Paradise Aquarium! This is an amazing store! 5 stars!

The all American store clerk was rude and not very helpful when I came to trade fish. I asked to speak to the manager who told me to come in that day but was not there. Ask the clerk there and they saidI dont know what to tell you with such apathy. Will be going somewhere else. Thnx

They recommend us everything expensive kits only which can found same items in wallmart and even dollor tree. And worst thing is that gold fish i buy from there 2 of 3 are already died within a 2 day even we check our water quality with them and was ok.
My family and I have been going to Paradise for over 30 years. This store is run by a wonderful family. One time I purchased a large aquarium, and they actually put it in their car and brought it up a large staircase to my home. They then set it up in my dining room. They are super nice and friendly. Please support your neighborhood businesses!
This review is mostly about small animals :) I went to Paradise Aquarium in hope to see rats and mice . They also had gerbils and Syrian hamsters. I bought myself 2 five week old gerbils who I thought were boys.I saw 2 guys that worked there. The kid misgendered the gerbils, but in his defense they were very young and it was tricky to tell. I was okay with it and kept them.Overall, it was a really nice store. Small and sweet, not that smelly, the cages looked relatively clean. The gerbils were all really friendly and I love these girls. Unfortunately one of them seems to have a deformed paw, but she is managing well.Only complaint, the mother rat seemed very malnourished. Oh, and I’m not sure what the bedding was, but if it was pine, I don’t recommend that as it can cause breathing issues! I DO RECOMMEND THIS STORE, just make sure to double check your small animals!

Large place, but very cluttered and the tanks have low visibility due to heavy algae. Also many fish didnt look happy. Employees, the two young men, very disinterested and their expressions said I dont want to be here
Ive been keeping Tropical Fish for 40 yrs. The fish selection is excellent and prices are competitive. The tanks are clean and the fish very healthy. I recommend without hesitation.

This place is ok. It doesnt have a lot of saltwater choices. I bought some freshwater fish here a while back when I used to keep cichlids. One thing they have a nice selection here are freshwater plants.
Had a great time, and a lot of cool things to be seen at this location, friendly and very helpful staff. Nice kid friendly environment as well at this location.
We bought a turtle from this place and the owner and staff were extremely helpful and informative. Unfortunately our turtle died and once again the owner and staff helped us and gave us another turtle. He made my son very happy!!
One of the better mom and pop small pet stores. I wish the birds had more space but besides that their cages were alot cleaner than some other stores Ive seen nearby.
Had a wide selection of fish and reptiles that all seemed healthy and well taken care of. It has intresting and exoctic species you dont see at petsmart and petco and other big box stores. The customer service is fantastic and hes the only store around that could get a 120 gallon stand for me. Awesome place and definitely plan on returning!!
Employees have bad attitude like they are doing you a favor when you ask for something. Sign on door, and posted on web, states closes at 6:00pm but when I arrived at 5:45pm they stated that they were closed and were unapologetic about posting inaccurate store hours.

This shop has been here many years. The owner is generally nice but the younger kids working there dont seem thrilled and provide poor customer service.
I bought new fishes to add to my large fish tank that were full of my other fishes I had for long time. The store Employees guarantee the fishes they were selling to me were Community fishes that will get along with the ones in my tank. They sold me fishes that ate all of previous fishes. The Owner refused to give me a refund or replace some of my fishes that the store Aquarium Paradise have. The Owner and Employees are EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL & Very BELIGERINT Shop at this Store AT YOUR OWN RISK 👿👿👿👿. The Worst Pet Shop I ever went to, I Advise No one to Risk their own fishes by buying in this Store. My Children who are Autistic are very upset they no longer have their long time Fish Friends 😔😔😔. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING IN THIS STORE 🚫🚫🚫🚫.
Great pet store with a heavy focus on aquarium supply and fish. Recently downsized but kept what they were best at. Very knowledgeable staff always very helpful and not afraid to suggest lower cost fixes even if it means losing out on a sale.
Ive been coming here since i was 7 years old. 30 years lol Ive gotten everything i need from Paradise for all my 13 aquariums and enclosures. Love Paradise Aquarium. Your not a pet store to me, your family.

The store got smaller but the staff is still the best! They dont have the greatest selection of fish at times but the reason Ill keep going is the friendliness and help youll receive. They seem to care more about the customers than sales.

They have the best selection of Reptiles of any petstore in NYC I ever seen. Their fish selection is also great and all of their animals are healthy. The staff is very knowledgeable and they will answer all of you questions and work with you.
This pet shop has been here since I was a kid. Over 40 years. Its the last of the Mohicans of family owned shops and stores. Give them a try over petland discounts. Paradise knows, fish and small reptiles. They have people who take care of the fish they sell. Theyre not staffed by some kids doing part time work after school. Theyre pros!
Kind people, knowledgeable staff, and a lot of experience. I have been going to this local family business for over 15 years! Nice selection of fish, other pets, and lots of supplies. Advice? Just ask! Forget Petland- this place is a family business and actually CARES about their pets and their customers!
A nice neighborhood pet shop, if they dont have Im sure they will get it for you.
Wish it was bigger. Stressful and crowded despite their being few people in there. On a dozen ocassions I decided against buying anything because it was just such a headache. No people at the register, and this annoying Parrot that will blow your ears out.I was super excited about having a LFS near me, but this disappointed me. It looks run down too and seems dirty.
Owner was “busy” feeding fish instead of helping. Took my business to Kissena aquariums. Totally different experience there. I wouldn’t buy a grain of salt from this place.
Too dark & tight aisles. Their fish are expensive. If you need basic things like fish food, ornaments for the tank, bird food, reptile accessories you can go there for quick stop. They also sell reptiles & parakeets. The back part of store is easier to breathe in & see the supplies. Helpful staff.
I wasnt sure on how to rate this place because the staff is amazing and extremely helpful. Its just over priced. Honestly sometimes I dont mind paying more because the customer service is so great.
IF YOU WANT DISCUS COME HERE.By far one of the best fish stores in Queens. Ive been shopping here for 16 years now and Im never disappointed. Very knowledgeable staff and the boss Gary can tell you virtually anything you need to know about the aquarium hobby. Im not a reptile guy but they have and know alot about them as well. Salt water and fresh water fish game is on point here. Im happy I drove 45 mins from where I live back to this store in my old neighborhood.
The parrot food has MAGGOTS, MOTHS and other BUGS. When I called to let them know the employee who answered the phone seemed indifferent would not take a message and Gary the owner would not address the issue. This happens EVERY summer and they still continue to sell this food. Disappointing.
Not the cleanest fish store. Decent selection of fish. Owner got mad I had to return some stuff I bought and completely changed his attitude with me. Go to Pacific Aquarium off Essex in the city. Thank me later
Super disappointing. I was so excited about this place, because it’s the easiest pet place to get to that has reptile stuff and the reviews are decent... I went in and...It is completely disorganized, half of the reptile stuff is in one place mixed in with rodent stuff, the other half is on the other side mixed in with aquarium rocks.They charge twice as much as anywhere else for terrarium wood. A Fluker’s driftwood branch, anywhere else, tops out at $27. They’re selling the same exact price (as in size and structure, obviously each piece is unique) for a whopping $55. Absolutely outrageous.Also, they have a grown gecko in a medium kritter keeper. These geckos need at least a 20 gallon tall to thrive.I will not be shopping here.
The customer se is amazing, they help me do much to understand about fishes on how to keep them surviving for a long period time.
Old mom and pop shop, not the cleanest but definitely the friendliest. Lots of algae in tanks but I loved it. If you dont you either are too picky or caught them on a bad day. Either way I love this shop. #SupportThelittleguy
I bought a basking light bulb 4 days ago. Woke up today and the light was burnt out. I’m not an expert on lightbulbs but I know it should last me a lot longer than 4 days. Don’t buy lightbulbs from here. Employees are also very rude.
Great place. If you want to support small/family owned businesses, this is the place. They are very knowledgeable and they make sure you get what YOU want. They do not try to oversell or pressure you into buying anything extra. Will actually order what you need
Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with our questions. The fish were arranged in a logical way based on how big your tank is. Did not see any dead fish or overcrowded tanks. Overall very pleasant experience.
About the ONLY place Ive found in the city where you can buy fresh live black worms to feed your tank critters!

Quality aquarium shops with employees who actually know what theyre talking about seem fewer and farther between. And in my visits here, Ive never been disappointed. Reasonable prices and healthy animals too!

They have different kind of fish, from simple one to expensive. Also some snakes, birds, mice. Food for all of these creatures. Decorations. The store is not big, but packed with all what you need.
Way too hot, dead fish filled tanks, small animals are so damn hot in the cages (theyre tanks) that they are all pressed up agains the glass breathing heavily, some mice super sweaty from being heat exhausted, most of the plants in tanks are also dying, and the reptiles do not have much area to move at all. Not humane.
Great place with live feeder mice and plenty of fish. Just a bit small and dusty but that doesnt matter! Staff is friendly as well

Extremely good coral prices. saltwater fish are usually good, but once in a while might be infected with ich so quarantine is a must if buying fish from here.

They don’t take care of the place. It’s super sad seeing animals treated that way.I found dead fishes, and they have a lot of them in poor conditions, they don’t even clean the tanks.People that work there were on their phones all the time.I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

2022-05-03It was pretty cool going there, there was cray fish which was nice to see. They had hamsters and parrots there as well as equipment to take care of the fish and the other animals there. I recommend going there to get fish as well as equipment because of the low prices.

Didnt bother to pick there heads up the TV show they were watching to acknowledge a customer... and after saying excuse me was I given a dismissive answer.Because of that I did not purchase the 2 Parkeets I wanted.***Also I have a hard time believing a Parkeet cost $40.***

2019-12-27These poor animals are being kept in inhuman conditions. The turtles especially. It’s incredibly dirty and smelly. Their mice seem sick.

2022-04-20I like this shop because the fish are healthy, and they have a good selection of exotic reptiles and stuff like that. Sometimes I wish they got in more shipments of fish. But the stock is in good shape. The crew is fairly friends. This place adds to the neighborhood.
