I think the hotel was incredibly short staffed, that’s the only logical explanation, besides negligence, for such a poor experience. The only reason to stay here is for the view and the decent rooms. All aspects of service were abysmal from concierge confirming then just never delivering our request for wine to the room, room service showing up 90 minutes after calling, and completely messing up our order. We tried Darling only to be treated rudely by the host staff and again overall poor service.Get the room but skip all the services and amenities.
It is hard to imagine how the owners of this fine hotel would allow the management to constantly run loud hip hop music in the lobby. The music is ALWAYS on at such high levels that it is near impossible to have a bite at the lobby bar or to converse.I have spoken with the employees and they have all said the same. That they constantly receive complaints. This is all being done under the managers direction and he simply refuses to lower the volume at the many requests of hotel guests.
I absolutely love this hotel. Not only is it beautiful and well located, but I’ve rarely experienced such a good staff (going from the reception, where Edita welcomed us, to the concierge, where we had the chance to get help from Kat). I would highly recommend staying there.
In a luxury hotel overlooking Central Park, pretense is absent. The staff is kind, engaging, and visibly thankful for the guests in their care, beginning at the door and permeating the building. We had an exceptional stay - from the location to the food/drink to the great beds - and we have found our hotel for future visits to NYC. The Park Lane has created a thoughtful place and is run super professionally! A++…
I stayed in the hotel during the first week of April.Overall the hotel is ok, and the view of the Central Park is very good. However I am extremely disappointed with the staff. After checking out I realized I had forgot my iPhone charger in the room. So I returned to the hotel 2 hours after checking out and they said they couldn’t found it.They hadn’t offered any kind of solution: nor a new charger or a reimbursement. To make things worse, they said they don’t have a complaints book.I won’t return nor recommend this hotel.
One of the dirtiest hotels in New York. Will never forget the horrible staff, the stained old furniture and carpet, the absolutely disgusting bathroom with hair in the drain. I spent 30 minutes in the room and checked out! They didn’t return the full amount for the stay and the front desk was name-calling when I tried to get a refund. A woman at the front desk was literally pushing my bag off the reception, trying to get me to leave. The manager walked away and laughed when I showed her pictures clearly displaying the horrible state of the room.I never though I could hate a place as much as I hate this god awful hotel. Some booking sites still have this hotel listed as 5 stars and it’s sad to see people are still falling for their heavily edited pictures. Would love to see this place get demolished.
Post great, but, simple room renovations the hotel was running wonderfully again with amazing staff, great positive energy, wonderful restaurant/bar opportunities, and most importantly, rooms with the view!!!LOVE the Park Lane location and venue for a glorious stay in NYC.
I’m completely obsessed with this hotel. First our Park King room was so gorgeous. Highly recommend getting a view to the park it was absolutely spectacular and 100% worth the stay. From the cleansiness to the service we received everything was perfect tens. There are small and insignificant features that this hotel lacks but it’s not even worth getting into because its you kind of expect that from New York hotels (limited places to hang towels/ no microwave/ nonfunctional mini fridge bc its technically a mini bar/ etc). The toiletries were really nice and as a sidenote, the last morning for a New York trip staying here at the Park Lane hotel will be one of the most memorable experiences. Just the fact that you have the floor level bar as well as Harry’s New York bar on the second floor and darlings on the rooftop made it so even when we decided to stay in it didn’t really feel like there was nothing to do because the hotel itself had so many options. I will also like to bring up one of the best bartenders we’ve had on our New York trip was at the floor level bar and his name is Corey. The attentiveness he gave us as well as the customized concoctions that he created for us just took our experience to the next level. 15/10 will return 💟
A very large and beautiful well kept park in the middle of NYC. There are a lot of benches lining the path. I like that there is a nice wide path for walkers and joggers to share. There are lots of large trees and water spots to see. The cattle Belvedere has a great view from the top.
We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights, and we are not coming back. The service and amenities are not what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The AC in the room we got kept rattling, which was annoying when we were trying to sleep at night. We called reception twice about this issue, and even though they sent maintenance to fix it, they didn’t. When you go to a hotel, you’re expecting to be able to rest and relax. We slept poorly, kept waking up in the middle of the night due to the noise coming from the AC. We got a suite with the park view, which is more expensive, and it’s frustrating that we had to deal with this.
Luxe is the best way to describe this hotel. Located directly across legendary Central Park, arriving and departing during your day is like youre in a movie. Staff and service is impecable and rooms are immaculate down to their collaboration with Le Labo fragrances for the bath products. 5 finger snaps positive review!
Misleading room on booking.com having to pay an upsell for a park view, very dirty room with dust all over the night tables, hair in the bathroom and dirty window and rude manager to deal with it, no coffee machine, limited amenities in the bathroom, no proper heating… great view on the park but not worth the money and poor service… def not a 5*, more like a good 3*
Having stayed at the Park Lane many times, and particularly the Parkview Junior Suite, and I was familiar with the property and these specific accommodations. However, the room that I was placed in was NOT the accommodation that I was expecting nor the room that my reservation printout indicated. In fact, it appeared to be a “bait and switch” situation, i.e. false advertising.I will not be staying at this hotel again. The renovation is great looking but not user friendly:1. The bathroom is essentially non-functioning for most senior citizens There are no grab bars in the shower. The shower floor is slippery. There are no soap dishes or corner shelves. The remedy for this is a hole that was cut out of the shower glass so one can reach an arm through to the toilet tank lid to retrieve soap, shampoo, razor, etc. You have to return anything used in the shower back to the toilet lid when task is completed or put the item on the shower floor. Yet, the toilet tank top is beveled so nothing will remain on it, sliding off to the floor instead. There are no towel bars in the bathroom, but there are two hooks on the back of the door. Lighting is terrible. The space around the sink is limited. The good news is that the bathroom is beautiful and very New York-ish!!2. The bed was very low. The mattress did not fill the frame box, thus creating a hazard for tripping. The mattress was comfortable and the pillows were great.3. I was there for a week and there was not adequate drawer space. There was not a drawer or shelf in the night table which would have been helpful. There was, however, an abundance of closet space.4. There was not a coffee pot in the room. If you like your coffee first thing in the morning, you will need probably need to dress to go downstairs to get it or come prepared to bring your own coffeemaker.5. Also, I had asked for a refrigerator in the room. There was not one. We were then told there were none available, yet later we were told that they were bringing one. The one they brought was not working. They sent a working one the next day. If you have medications that needs refrigeration you would be wise to bring it in a small cooler.6. When I made my reservation, it was confirmed with a picture of the older but more functional furniture. I liked the older more traditional look, but that is just my preference. I am sure that others will like the newer look. I was just disappointed.7.. There is little comparison to the view of Central Park. It was terrific! The staff was very courteous and helpful.
Pictures look good.. very dated inside. Paid extra for a double view of park and city. Only saw tiny corner of park if you press the side of your face on the glass and close one eye. Extortion fee charged per night for use of Gym etc whether you use them or not.One plus side, Good location. UK visitor
Stayed here on a trip with some family! The service was UNBEATABLE, and the amenities were very nice. The location is PERFECT. We had an amazing view of Central Park everyday we woke up. We walked down to the lobby for a coffee and were greeted by the doorman. Great job at an even greater facility!
Made the best of our stay but would not have selected this place in hindsight. Hotel is very run down at the moment and undergoing renovations, which I expected based on reviews here. What I didn’t expect was the complete lack of any amenities during our stay! I knew the gym and such would be closed but didn’t realize everything from the lobby bathroom, bell boy services, room service and luggage storage would also be closed! The hotel bar and restaurant were also closed even though their Google maps pages listed them as open. This meant we had to carry all of our stuff with us when not checked in and didn’t have any help getting our stuff from the car to the room. Also, we had to share one bathroom between us with no option for one downstairs! No mini fridge in room and wall paper was peeling off the walls. So crazy for the price we paid. Wish they would have sent some kind of precursor to inform us of this and also thought it was insane to charge us a $40 facilities fee when nothing was available. My rating would be more of a 2.8 based on the price and experience but leaving it at 3 stars because the staff was nice at least!
Poor experience. Room service would not answer the phone throughout my stay. Hotel claims to be 4 star, but the front desk advised me to go to a vending machine to get drinking water. Thermostat in room did not work. I stopped elevator on an incorrect floor accidentally and entire floor was gutted and under active construction. This hotel should not be open to guests if it is under active construction and if it is unable to provide services it advertises on its website and on 3rd party websites. If it chooses to continue to operate, the hotel should be advertised as 2 star and then the guest experience would be consistent with what is advertised. The quality of my stay was below a 3 star hotel experience and likely closer to a 2 star hotel experience. The overall experience seems to me to be at least the product of hotel management negligence and at most fraud. It seemed to me that hotel management may be knowingly operating in this fashion with intent to deceive those who book a stay. They did not provide full-disclose of the state of the hotel and the severe restriction of services offered.I am hopeful that in the future, this hotel may once again begin offering regular services. However, due to the lack of basic services like availability of drinking water at this time, I would suggest avoiding this hotel.I believe it would benefit most people visiting New York City to stay elsewhere.
This was our 4th trip to nyc and we have found the only place to stay !! From the time we arrived till the time we left it was amazing. First the staff is professional, extremely attentive and accommodating, I have to mention 2 individuals Mauhna and Adriana. These ladies where fabulous , second our room ( overlooking Central Park) was spectacular. I highly recommend to anyone this is a must place to stay
Good location and large rooms, but the hotel was run down. Worst part was the air conditioner which didnt do anything... had the thermostat set to 65 the whole time I was there and the room never got below 74 despite the outside temp at night falling into the 50s. No microwave or water heater in the room. Shower wouldnt get very hot. Additionally, the hotel still charged a daily $35 service fee despite some of the services not being available during covid, such as the restaurant.
The room was ok. Check in was slow; only one person checking in guests. The room did not look anything like the photos. Could be cleaner as many other reviews have commented on. The housekeeping was nice and serviced our room. We selected this hotel based on the restaurant and bar which both were closed due to renovations. No amenities in the room. Fridge was sitting on the floor next to the dresser. No coffee pot. No paper or pens. No throw pillows, no bed runner, and the carpets need to be replaced. Also, every time we went to the bathroom we stubbed our toe because the threshold it isn’t flush with the floor. The resort fees are essentially to cover the WiFi.
WAIT TO STAY HERE - AVOID FOR NOW!They’re doing extensive renovations. So they don’t tell you up front, but there’s no air conditioning AND worse they cannot hold your luggage after checkout. If those aren’t issues for you, it’s still a good hotel. It was still not hot weather when I stayed but I can imagine summer will get uncomfortable.Room was good and hotel is located in a great spot in the city, Central Park is amazing to explore or just sit in.Just know that you may have to haul your luggage around town with you if they aren’t back to normal services!
The evening staff is rude and unprofessional. Instead of being greeted at the door you can expect a large intimidating man to stare at you blankly. The rooms air conditioning is not adjustable and is so loud that it becomes difficult to sleep. The location is good IF you are lucky enough to get a room overlooking the park. Since theyre always booked in advance, you are not likely to get one of these rooms unless you have a suite. Avoid staying here. There are much nicer places for half the price.
I reserved a Park-View King suite for my partners birthday. I called in advance to request a room on a higher floor which was not honored upon arrival. There was also unsightly gray tape left all over the wall facing the park of which we have no idea why or what it was. Suite 1400 for your reference. Prior to coming I double-checked and I was told there would be bath robes in the suite which my partner loves. When I looked, none were provided. I called downstairs to request them and the line just rang and rang. No one was able to help nor did anyone pick up the phone for hours. Staff told us they are short staffed. That is not the guests concern and it was unprofessional. In addition, the room was 76 degrees the entire stay and AC was not working. I understand renovations and limitations due to COVID-19 but besides the park view, we received nothing in terms of customer service or satisfaction upon our first stay.
I had the pleasure staying here due to a housing emergency a few weeks ago. The gentleman night receptionist was super courteous and helpful at almost midnight. The entire Hotel was so spotless clean. The beds were so fresh, clean and amazingly comfortable. This will definitely be my go to Hotel if ever I need a quick stay or maybe my next staycation. Can I sign up for any Hotel membership?Pamela G. 😊
The bed is great. There is a dresser to put away your clothes. The shower and tub are fabulous. The bathroom sink is too low.The are two chairs to sit down which is good. The is a large closet and a luggage rack. There is a desk to write with a chair. There are charging station on both side of the bed. There is no coffee maker or refrigerator in the room. No microwave in room. There are no glasses to drink water or wine. No restaurants open in hotel.Asia the house keeper was excellent.
New York is a trafficked city, but Park Lane has one of the best locations in the city. The rooms are clean and majestic with a great view, and it gets more fun the higher up your room is.The thing i enjoyed the most was the breakfast. Yes it was expensive, but the view out on central park was so relaxing, and peaceful in many ways. Then there was this coffee blend they had that I will never forget. Oridinary black coffee tasted sweet, but with great aroma and flavor. I really want to know what coffee this was, but i dont even know if they use the same type anymore.I stayed here back in 2017, and I still remember the coffee as the best coffee i ever experienced.I will never forget this hotel it was a brilliant stay.
Enjoyed the peaceful Central Park view with happy little trees and turtles sunning themselves on logs. Even 20 floors up you can hear the carriage horses hooves below.I was expecting a tiny space since its in NYC, but the room was huge! Lots of breathing room. Everything smelled clean. The crew is doing a good job.
I love the Park Lane Hotel. I highly recommend this world famous property for its courteous service, cleanliness and friendly staff. I truly enjoy the location and close proximity to Columbus Circle, 5th Avenue and all the designer flagship stores in the neighborhood. But most of all, this landmark hotel is situated right across the street from Central Park. I cannot think of a better place to relax, enjoy the amenities and eat at my favorite restaurant. I stay here each time I visit New York City and have enjoyed the hotel for many years. It is truly my favorite place to stay.
Had to stay here with family that was getting medical treatment at Mount Sinai. There was only one person working in the lobby and the hotel was empty but the person who checked us in could not have been more compassionate and accommodating. We were upgraded to one of the highest floors and were checked in and out right away. Service was very quick whether we needed extra blankets, towels or hand sanitizer. Rooms are slightly outdated but its not a big deal since in NYC you’re out most of the day. View of Central Park is incredible! Happy I found this place!
Very nice hotel. They upgraded to a king when they only had twins at the price they quoted. Really tasty salmon for dinner! The bed was super comfortable! Amazing sleep after a long day.Excellent service all they way around. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.
Even under construction, this hotel earns five glittering stars. The view of Central Park is second to none and worth the price (which tbh isn’t extravagant for Manhattan). Rooms are spacious, well-appointed, well-kept, and clean. The location is convenient to multiple subway stations and within walking distance of a ton of NYC’s most popular attractions. The STAFF, though, is what pushes it above and beyond its swanky neighbors - especially Rodney, whose genuine hospitality and sincere concern for his guests is easily the best hotel service I’ve ever had, anywhere.
Clean old fancy style with spacious rooms and beautiful views of the southern end of Central Park. The rooms are not as bright and shiny as pictured and could be updated a bit. But honestly I think it’d take away from the charm (and raise the price). The staff make this hotel! They give guests the freedom and privacy one should expect staying at any hotel. Don’t disturb other guests and the staff won’t disturb you. They are there to help whenever needed and otherwise out of the way. Friendly, accommodating, and professional. They make it 5 stars.
We stayed at the Park Lane for one night. The room was clean, the bathroom was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. The downside was that we booked a room with a view of the park, and when we got there, they downgraded us to a room that did not face the park without notifying us. Once we got to the room and realized we didnt have a park view, we called the front desk and we were told that they had long term guests in all the rooms with views, so none of them were available. The view was what we were most looking forward to, and it was frustrating that they were offering rooms they didnt have! Otherwise a positive experience.
The hotel front desk was simple and the guy was nice. Our room was kinda clean, there was long strains of hair attached to the rug and under the sink. The rug definitely needed to be vacuumed. The fridge was getto, it was placed on the floor by the door. The smell of smoke was overwhelming! It made me nauseous. The view was okay, we had city. Parking is as simple when checking in about 60 for the entire night. However, pick up was in the back. There is no waiting area and it was freezing. Nice place to stay on a budget.
Beautiful room which was very clean, great size, incredible view and perfect location! There was a $40 Resort Fee which upon questioning the hotel they said its for the free wifi! Very strange and I didnt even need wifi, but they said everyone has to pay. It was $65 for valet parking which isnt really valet, but a parking garage on the backside of the hotel, but fine. There was an additional charge to my credit card for $81. I called the hotel billing department a dozen times and left messages, but never heard back. Called the hotel front desk and he said that its only a hold and not a charge, to which I disagreed. Anyway, I had to dispute it with my credit card company and still never heard back from the hotel on this fraudulent/mistaken charge. Be sure to check your credit card statement! Id give five stars if it wasnt for the fishy resort fee and the incorrect $81 charge with no response. I did love the room/hotel. They were renovating the higher floors while I was there so its probably going to be even more incredible!
Excellent staff and location!! Employees are extremely helpful and the view is spectacular if you have the park view. Without the view you are still in the best area! During Covid we stayed here and had a great time. Only area could be improved may be the cleaning, there were a few pieces of hair found in the bathroom behind the door and in the tub. :-(Overall it’s a nice place, highly recommend!!
Stayed in the Park Lane Hotel NY in October last year. Was over charged $200.Sent an email to every email address listed on the website - no reply.Billing and accounting department number does not reply and redirects you straight to voice mail. Was able to reach out to operator and they promised to fix it and nothing happened.Followed up with operator several times over the phone - no reply. As an opportunity to solve the issue, I would really appreciate if Park Lane Hotel NY would provide me with the valid email address and valid phone number of the person who will help with resolution.
Such a beautiful room with a view! Highly recommend getting a junior sweet and highly highly recommend getting a room viewing the park. For some reason the bathtub was filled with water and what seemed to be cleaner when we got there but we drained it and it was fine. Such a deal for a room given the view and of course vacation. Such a great staycation and birthday surprise for my husband. Also a great place to paint woodiewebber.com!
The rooms were filthy. Carpets filthy. Curtains filthy. There were two empty beer cans in the drawer in the bathroom vanity, along with a mysterious pill in the drawer as well. Never bothered to clean anything. There was an iron board. No iron. The tables were dirty as was the kleenex tissue box. All this during a global pandemic. Shame on you. Great location beautiful lobby.
Absolutely horrible. We were lied to by the person who booked our room about every single aspect of our stay. This hotel is dirty, they do not fully clean the rooms and probably have never vaccumed. Under the bed was HORRENDOUS. This is not a 4 star hotel. They claim to have over 40 years of outstanding customer service. No one answered my calls, or email regarding this horrible stay. Do not book a stay here it is a complete waste of money and theres other hotels that you can pay less for and get more out of.
Check-in was good. We were offered an upgrade to higher floor which was great. The bathroom was clean. View of central park was incredible and thats about all that was good. Everything in the room including the furniture, carpet, mattress is extremely outdated. We had left do not disturb tag on the door because we did not need cleaning but when we came back, the bed was made. There is no room service choice for dinner other than bar food. No coffee maker in the room. We ordered breakfast in the room one day and it was delivered 1 hour later after calling several times. I would never stay in this hotel in a room without the view of central park. Its pointless.
This hotel is worth staying in because the location is the best, especially when you are on the top level floors and can see the whole park. Its beautiful and very convenient if you are ok with upper Manhattan or simply love central park. The rooms are simple but spacious.
Nice hotel. They were nice enough to give really early check-in and late checkout. Awesome location. Very convenient to travel to downtown. Walkable distance to a lot of things! Good views. Free wifi.A few minor but odd things though... They dont keep your luggage if you have a later flight/train/bus after check out. They said it was because of COVID but I know other hotels are doing it. I ended up using LUGGAGE HERO app to have my luggage deposited until it was time to leave the city late that night. The phone in the room did not have any numbers on it to call... So had to walk to the reception to ask for things and ask for phone numbers I could dial if I had to next time. Clock was set on daylight savings ... So it was one hour off. You have to ask for drinking cups/glasses. No coffee tea etc in room. For a place that charges ~ 200$/night these things are expected.
On a slow week day you would think service and cleanliness would be better.Room was not the cleanest. Soda can from other people under the tables. Bathroom did look very clean. The phone did not work at all I tried all room service and front desk many time with no answer. I’ve machine had no buckets for ice. When I left for work I ask the fro t desk if my room could be cleaned. When I came back at 430. It was not cleaned. They said sorry they must have forgotten and that all the staff had left from the day. So I was stuck in a dirty room again. The one good thing was the location.
If you get a view of a Central Park in which we did “we paid extra for it” it’s great see picture, that’s where it ends. Our room on 23 rd floor was ragged. Stains on the carpet, yuck. Beat up furniture, Bathrooms and rooms need a huge makeover to match your prices.Hotel service fee of $35 is a joke since they offer one small coffee stand on lobby floor and that’s it.The bar is way to tight and has no atmosphere, they need to but the bar in The restaurant that has the view no one is eating in the restaurant. We kept going to The Ritz bar and Plaza bars next door which has way better atmosphere for the same high price Cocktails. Yeah I know they charge more for a room next door right and left but this place needs some investment into the rooms.Very disappointed.
3 star customer srvs. They were very cold and unhelpful. Mgmnt never called me back when asked and I had to follow up. Parking is expensive and they do not disclose the parking in & out privileges on their site well enough for people outside of Manhattan to understand. They dont even tell you over the phone when I spoke to 3 reps. Not one brought it up. They just said its $65. Its actually $65 EVERY TIME you park and take the vehicle out through out the day. Very disappointed with the room as well as the mattress kept making a sound when tossing and turning. At best 3 stars unfortunately. The good thing it has is that its in an amazing location. Close to everything and we loved that.
My room was barely clean (feathers and fluff on the floor). No mini bar!It was located near the elevators making the room sound like it was above a subway station. I asked to change but the occupancy didnt allow it according to the front desk).Even if booking sites said they had many rooms available. It was a cold week and the heater was working but so loud that it was impossible to let run all night. The door men are friendly. Maybe too friendly, I personally dont like being tapped on the back by total strangers.Dont get me wrong, its not a bad place but I cant rate more than 2 stars based on my last 2 stays. Will be back Im sure and hope to see some improvements.
This hotel is a gem! Nicole at the front desk is so helpful and welcoming! She made our stay absolutely delightful. Very informative on the hotel and everything it has to offer. The rooms are cozy and the view facing central park is magical. Harrys bar is comfy and has great drinks. Food was good but the bar is a bit understaffed. One gentleman to serve a full bar/restaurant on a Saturday night is a bit ill prepared for the flow of business. Despite being busy, our server was as attentive as could be expected. I went over to the manager to close out my check after waiting 30 minutes to close out and he shrugged me off and continued to ignore me, and the other guests. At this point he was complacent in allowing the quality and timeliness of service to suffer. After a whole day of sightseeing, waiting 30 minutes just to close my check is less than appreciated. I cant imagine what could be so important on his clipboard that he would allow his bar to get so overwhelmed. Overall very pleased with my stay at the hotel.
Besides the fact that they gave me a smaller room than what I booked, I came back to my room at 2am and was told the elevator isn’t working and we can’t use the stairs either. Hence me writing this great review. As of now I have been waiting in the lobby for over 30 minutes. This is just insane.
The hotel staff were, without exception, incredibly courteous and friendly. The rooms were ok -- the beds are uncomfortable (very hard), and the service at Harrys Bar leaves something to be desired, but overall, I enjoyed my stay. Theyre going to be renovating soon and I would consider staying there again. Its also quite centrally located and for us smokers, theres a nice smoking area outside. I had a very pleasant stay.
This hotel is right off central park, so the location its great! The staff is decent. There is no complimentary coffee or breakfast; instead they have a hospitality room with foods in the evening. Im not a fan of room service, so that set-up is inconvenient for me. The shower and bathroom is horrible. The water pressure was painful and couldnt be altered, and water drained really slowly from the tub. Also, there is no fan in the bathroom, so it got really humid really quickly.
Great location and view of the city (or the park, if you pay a little more). The staff knew what they were doing, but werent exactly welcoming. When we had to switch out our cards for some security thing, they seemed annoyed with me... no apologies for the inconvenience or thank you, just took the cards, continued talking amongst themselves, and gave me new ones... not 4-star service. The rooms are also really basic - no fridge, microwave, coffee or anything like that. The place is also a bit dated, although they are planning renovations, Im told. My main issue was the shower which had a rather painful spray that couldnt be adjusted, a curtain without proper weights, so it attacked you the whole time, and there was no fan, so the humidity was awful. The reception from 5-7 was nice though when we were able to take advantage of it.
I loved this hotel, yes it may be a little old but its an old hotel. A historical one at that. The staff was wonderful, each person I encountered was very nice and helpful. We arrived early and couldnt get into a room yet but the front desk staff was wonderful, as well as the bell hop, baggage attendant and valet. All wonderful staff experiences, including the small gift shop and coffee shop as well. The room was nicely sized with a view of the park and partial city buildings. The carpets and walls were a little dated but thats to be expected with the age of the hotel. The bathroom was slightly small but not bothersome. We stayed for one night and I enjoyed it. The bed wasnt the most comfortable and on the soft side but again not everyone likes soft beds. I would definitely stay again.
Stay away from this hotel. We came from another state, found this hotel and decided stay there because of a good area and good reviews. At 8:30 am they started construction. It was from 8:30am till 5 pm. Very loud drilling sounds. We called hotel manager and asked when this construction will be done, he said that it will be 5-7 month. He was so RUDE! He said “if you don’t like something, you can leave”! Very unprofessional.
Overall, a good experience. I stayed at the Park Lane for a conference, and the hotel could not be located in a better place, the amenities were super (gym, restaurants), and the concierge and staff were quite pleasant. The rooms were extremely spacious, had lots of natural light, and were furnished nicely in a French shabby-chic decor. I had two lovely armchairs and a huge desk with a marble top, which made working feel a lot more homey (except nicer!).There were just a few cons. My room was right next to the elevator bank and the noise from the elevators was a little disruptive. I was a bit late reserving my room and missed the conference rate cut-off. The hotel didnt extend the courtesy of granting the rate. This was my fault, of course, but it would have been nice. Third, the shower head could have been better and the room carpeting had some stains and the walls and furniture had lots of scuffs - to be expected in a high traffic hotel. Im really picking on the last part, because overall I was pleased with this hotel and its value.
The location and view of this hotel is unbelievable. The lobby is very old New York and it is not that expensive considering where it is. It does look like an old building, but then again, it is an old building. It is a little more expensive to have a view of Central Park but it is worth it. We opened our windows, we could hear a saxophone playing from the park, and had room service for breakfast with a beautiful view. It’s location is great for tourists and for shopping, it’s walkable to almost everywhere. Service was good, everyone was helpful and nice.
Wonderful experience at the Park Lane. Centrally located, very friendly staff.A special thank you to Leslie at the front desk, who was so personable and helpful. When she saw that we had booked there for our 20th anniversary, she sent a lovely note and a bottle of bubbly and chocolate strawberries to our room.A helpful concierge booked our shuttle to the airport. And when it was raining buckets, the front desk loaned us umbrellas.Would absolutely go back there and recommend to anyone wanting a central location, quiet, comfortable hotel with friendly staff.
I was amazed at how spacious the bedrooms were at Park Lane Hotel. Ive stayed in hotels in New York several times and the rooms are usually tiny. The rooms were spotless and the location of the hotel at the bottom of Central Park is super convenient. The bar is quite small and one night we couldnt get a seat there so went to a bar over the road instead. Overall, really great value for money.
Lovely hotel, the furniture is a bit dated but the staff are all very helpful and the views cant be beat! Comfy (firm)beds and pillows, the fitness room is better than most small hotelsNo in room coffee maker but they did offer an electric kettle and fridge. Plenty of closet space, good water pressure, lots of drawers. We did get a lot of noise from the street below but its New York.
I primarily chose to stay at the Park Lane Hotel due to the location. The hotel is in a prime spot right in between Central Park and Times Square. This made sightseeing really convenient and easy to do. The hotel rooms even came with complimentary tickets to shows nearby and discounts at restaurants which was nice. Overall, the hotel atmosphere was great and the staff was very helpful. The only drawbacks were when we got to our room. It smelled kind of funny when we arrived, the sink wouldnt drain at all, and the window view of the dirty back alleys left something to be desired; I was under the impression that I would have a view of Central Park. Overall, it wasnt bad, but the best part about the hotel was the food and the convenient location. It was a little too expensive for what it was, but I did stay during peak tourist season.
My family, in various groupings, have stayed here many times and have loved our experience. My wife and I had a trip planned for March of this year, which we were forced to cancel. Thank you for the refund of our payment. You were most gracious. We look forward to being able to return and wish you and all New Yorkers all the best in these times.
Excellent staff, housekeeping was absolutely exceptional. The breakfast buffet was good and had everything you could want. The ONLY downside and it was a big downside for me because I was with my young daughter on a 6hr different time zone, is that room service is only available from 6:30am-11:30am.. Also there was no mini bar in the room. But again, its just preference/easiness traveling alone with my daughter.Location is absolutely ideal, no problems with noise and getting around was easy.
During covid with everything not going on in the hotel. No gym, restaurants, and a soda machine that has limits on how many transactions it takes a day. (Could not get a soda.) The $40 a day extra for resort fee. Nothing here is resort like. Broken ac unit. They came to fix said it would take a while to cool down. Never did. Just all and all a horrible experience.
Literally across Central Park, beautiful views if youve got a hotel room with views toward the park. Spacious hotel room and comfy beds. Staff were very friendly and helpful in our sightseeing planning. Water bottles were complimentary to all hotel stay customers. I would definitely stay there again.
Nice view of Central Park from the restaurant on the second floor. Complimentary happy hour with beer and wine included. Continental breakfast wasnt bad, but not worth the $45 they were charging for it; luckily, mine was included with my room. Also, for some reason they shut the water off to the entire hotel the night of my stay, which was very inconvenient. Fitness facilities were surprisingly decent and not crowded.
Nice and clean. Great location. Good bed and pillows. Awesome hot water and pressure. A few things show the age of the place: smaller rooms, bathroom door hinges painted over rust so that they are hard to move, a little paint and wallpaper peeling in the bathroom. Wish the shower curtains were a few tiles further out so that we didnt have fight with it the whole shower.
I like this Hotel. Good location and friendly concierge. Cozy and soft beds. I know it’s a little outdated, but it has charm. My rating low is only because of housekeeping. My shower room was not clean as has to be. I just don’t want to post. It would be nice to have coffee/tea maker in the room.
This hotel is right off central park, so the location its great and the views is beautiful The staff is decent. There is no complimentary coffee or breakfast; The shower is horrible very old, the bed is too small, carpets are to old ! Hotel need to be renovate. Definitely not a level of a 4 stars hotel. Only location and the view are good.Thank you sara
The location, the view, the customer service all were superb! I would have given less stars if the staff were not as amazing. I typically have an issue sleeping in hotel beds (bad back) but the beds are comfortable and I didn’t have an issue with my back waking up.However, the carpet in the rooms is horribly stained, the wallpaper is peeling, the door handles to the bathroom stick long enough that you’re left always wondering if you’re going to get stuck in the bathroom this time. The rooms are horribly outdated. Cherry on top they don’t even provide free drinking water in the room, just an $8 bottle of water or tap water.I was expecting more for the name and location. It did not live up to my expectations.
The rooms are great size (stayed in large) with a great shot out the window. I stayed opposite a office block and it was fun to see them working and playing table tennis. But we also git a nice view of the city, it was lovely. We never had food but I heard it is lovely. The staff are welcoming and do anything straight away. The hotel is located in the best possible place for a fantastic holiday in New York.
Loved my stay! The view was beautiful from my room (Central Park), very cozy room. It’s outdated for sure, but I really enjoy that feel. Pillows and blankets were very nice and cozy! HK did great!I did have a few minor issues during my stay.. the first room I checked in smelled very musty and the headboard from the bed was completely broken off and slightly hanging towards the head of the bed. All was good, I also work in hotels in Los Angeles and it’s an easy fix and I understand. The agent that moved me was quick, nice and prompt! So I moved rooms and I really enjoyed my new room. On Monday, I got back from to my room from a day of being out and about and the door was wide open when I returned. So that was weird. The only thing that bothered me about this place was the staff. Yaya checked me out and she was not very accommodating or helpful. She didn’t even ask how my stay was. She was on her phone. My friend was trying to extend his stay and checkin on his name and she wouldn’t let him stay in the same room that we were just in.. it’s an easy thing to agree upon when there’s a lot of availability and if you’re using Nor1. She said “he booked a different view so it’ll be $75 more a night”. Makes no sense because I did as well and didn’t have to pay an extra fee for my different room type... She wasn’t helpful in the situation, kept walking away and said “well let me know when you figure it out” but not in a welcoming tone. Also some of the staff wasn’t wearing a mask, including Yaya.Edinta (not sure how to spell her name) was very kind and sweet, definitely was helpful and accommodating!! I really enjoyed chatting with her.I’ll definitely be back sometime. I know it’s tough times guys, be we didn’t gotta be on our A game! I enjoyed the room and the view! Thanks!
Our stay at Park Lane was not a good experience at all!! The morning after staying here we were getting ready and my 2 year old was coloring on the floor while I was ironing the clothes. I was talking to her about what she was coloring and she wasn’t responding so I walked around the bed and she’s under the bed eating food that was left from a previous guest with clumps of dust balls. They don’t clean their rooms good!! I immediately packed our bags and went down stairs to tell someone. The lady was nice but went to get the manager and he wasn’t available so they told me our night was going to be taken care of. It’s been three weeks since I received my refund and every time I call no one helps me and the manager is never available. For a situation like this I should be their number priority. I would never stay here again and am disappointed in the customer service and the cleanliness of the hotel.
The hotel lobby was nice but beware of the rooms. Especially the bathroom, they are the equivalent to a days inn. I took pictures and the front desk moved me to a different room. The second bathroom was just as bad. I was really looking forward to my 4 night stay at Park Place Lane. The Marriott I stayed at in D.C. Was far better. A big plus is that the staff ( bell man, door man, and others) are very pleasant.
This was a more reasonably priced hotel with a view of central park compared to the options around it. The north facing views are amazing. They were helpful with letting me leave bags after checkout and providing water bottles when I was going out. The room and bathroom were more spacious than I typically encounter, and the decoration was light and tasteful. I would definitely suggest at least one night with a central park view during a trip to New York.
I fell in live with this hotel when I was traveling for business. The location is amazing, rooms are best for the price by far, overall accommodations are above and beyond. I have stayed here around 30 nights and have tried many of the rooms. The view on the city side, while not the best in NYC, is still interesting. The Park view on the other hand is stunning regardless of time of year but especially when the snow falls. There is a nice cafe available in the morning for grab and go items if you choose not to dine in for breakfast, which I highly recommend, the food is amazing and the view of the park while dining is very nice. There are ample high quality areas to eat near by and endless places to walk and see. You are also closer to the Natural History Museum but not too close where you cant walk to see the other popular areas in Manhattan.
Hotel reception and staff were great, and rooms are well equipped and very clean, but a little bit dated, especially the small bathroom. We had a partial park view looking over the Plaza hotel and it was still breathtaking.WiFi was included, and there is a guest reception with complimentary good and drinks every day from 5 to 7 pm.
They were very pleasant and responsive to my needs during my stay. The breakfast at the restaurant was really good and they had chefs prepared to make omelets or special requests exactly to your desire. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely return.
I was sent here for a one-night stay recently when the hotel I had originally booked had a maintenance problem and didnt have a room for me. Though my room was reasonably spacious, the decor and interior fixtures were very dated, almost shabby in spots. The lighting in the room was pretty poor. The front desk service was friendly and reasonably quick, but the bellmen were not particularly helpful. I imagine many people would like the location if they were in town for shopping or sightseeing, as its right on the park, but since I was there for a work meeting, it didnt add much value for me. I would look for other options before coming back in the future.
The staff were very helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms were excellent. They were clean, tidy and very comfortable. And the views were fantastic! The hotel is in a central location and there are many attractions, restaurants and other places to eat close by.I highly recommend this hotel.
I loved the boutique, classic NYC ambiance of this hotel. The gold fixtures are charming, not tacky. My only complaint is that the heating system is very old and had to be cranked up to 90° just to get it to 70° and the heater rattled so loudly that I had to turn it off to sleep. Engineering tried to fix it but its just an old building. I hope they replace soon. I thought the restaurant was overpriced and not that great. I really enjoyed the complimentary appetizers and drinks provided nightly. That was a very nice, unexpected perk. I didnt have a Central Park view room but its literally right there. I would definitely recommend staying here if youre looking for a hotel with some character.
Stayed on the 38th floor in Central Park view suite and it was exceptional. The view was amazing and we were so happy with our choice to book that room while visiting the Big Apple. The room was huge and everything was nice and well maintained. Only feedback is that the room didn’t have curtains that blocked the light. 5 AM and it felt like all of the lights were on.
Great hotel, beautiful building and wonderful staff. My only complaint would be the other guests, I helped a friend back to their room very late at night (returning after a wedding with lots of bags they couldnt carry alone). We chatted in the room for a few minutes before I made my exit, chatted, not loudly, light conversation at 2am. The neighbor called the desk to complain of noise, which tells me the walls are thin. Not good considering how much my friend was paying for the room! Other than that, the experience was wonderful.
What you see in the website is not what you will find in the room.I dont mind old. But this hotel is not taken care of and very very dirty. When I addressed my concerns with the manager I was told to deal with it... Ive been to NYC multiple times this is the first time customer service was this bad. See photos of dirty carpets etc
Do not waste your money!Rooms are dated and dirty, layers of dust on the furniture, wallpaper peeling up everywhere, carpet bubbling and snagged, shower full of soap scum and mildew, I wouldn’t shower wo sandals on. No coffee makers or ironing boards AC doesn’t work in dead summer it was 76 in our room the whole time even with the blind down. The sad part is the staff knows how gross the rooms are and can’t do anything about it but continually offer full refunds if you want to check out early and move to another hotel. I would rather stay at a Holiday Inn for the same price than this dump! It’s 2019 hotels on Central Park should be better than this!
When we arrived, our room smelled of mildew and the ac didn’t seem to be on. We gave it a few hours hoping that with ac, it could air out, but we found the air was broken. After calling down, they kindly changed our room immediately. The new room had a nicer view and the air worked, but there were about fifty nats flying around, mold in the bathroom, broken furniture and awful stains everywhere. Honestly, we were only in town for one night, so we sucked it up, took photos of the room and the bugs, and left as soon as we could. Can’t believe it’s listed as a 4 star hotel, and so disappointed that it was so unclean. Especially because the staff was so wonderful.
I was in NYC from July 28 to August 2. First time there and what a huge, amazing, wonderful city. Park Lane Hotel, hmm..4 start hotel I give 3 stars as I wasnt too impressed with the stained carpets in the hallways. Sometimes the hotel room and bathroom smelled like urine from outside or something, quite gross actually. A/C didnt seem to cool down the room enough, I noticed it felt like the humidity from outside was coming into the room. The hotel itself is nice and could do with a face lift and get rid of the carpets, a new paint job even. The food in the lounge was okay. For a 4 star hotel I actually expected more for what they charge, even a pool would have been nice to relax in at the end of the day. Next time Ill stay at the Fairfield Inn because they have free breakfast. Thanks.
We had a junior suite on the 28th floor overlooking Central Park. Nice view, room was spacious, but the decor and bathroom needs a renovation. The carpets in the hallways were filthy dirty and need to be replaced. My problem is that at $515 per night, in a room with a wet bar area, youd think that they would have a small coffee maker just to make one or two cups. The only option for coffee is to get dressed, go to the lobby and purchase a cup for almost $10. Would I go back or recommend this hotel? NO. Its overpriced for the accommodations.
Very nice hotel with a prime location! You can have breakfast overlooking Central Park, even tho I do not recommend it as its quite expensive. You can get breakfast from any bakery nearby and have your breakfast while taking a stroll in the park. Rooms are a bit old but the beds are very comfy! All in all, I enjoyed my stay!
Spacious room with great view of the park. Polite and extremely helpful staff. They even texted me to see if i needed anything 👑.. Location perfect for walking to many things nearby.. Loved the couch in the suite.. We turned it to sit and stare at the park. Very relaxing :)
Very convient for seeing all the things everyone goes to Manhattan to see. Its great to walk across the street to central park! There are always taxis out front to take you anywhere you want. Spacious rooms. Bathrooms need updating but were good size. Planning to return in November. Cant wait!
I expected the room to be more luxurious than it is. Some furniture damaged, stains on the floor, furniture not clean, (sofa, chair). The room is not heating up, temperature set to go to 80 and the fan is still blowing cold air versus warm air, room thermometer says 73
We were on the 41 level of the central park view side. This was by far the best view Ive ever had in a hotel. The room was decent because the furniture could be updated. At 5-7 pm, the hotel provides free beer, wine, drinks, snacks, cheeses and finger foods which you could take up to your room and eat there. The staff was great too. Overall I will probably stay there again.
The view from the dining area is magnificent! The view from the room was horrible. I understand that we reserved a room with a city view however a view of a back alley and HVAC units is not what I expected. But I can get past that. The guest reception was great. The view of Central Park, decent appetizers, and delicious drinks! More seating would be nice but then you risk being overcrowded so I can get past that. We were there for Easter weekend for my birthday. We noted this in our reservation and when we arrived to our room there was a nice birthday note and chocolate covered cherries! The room was rather hot and the bellman kindly turned the air to a reasonable level. It never really seemed to get much cooler, but again, I can get past that. The water pressure was. The best thing for after a long day of walking through the park. However they could invest in some shower curtain weights so it doesnt envelope you. There was no ice bucket in the room...but there were glasses. So how do you get ice? You call...so we did...and we waited...and waited...and waited. So I called again and also asked if we could get firmer pillows. The pillows came...and we waited...and finally the ice! By this time we were so tired we didnt need the ice anymore. The hotel is older...a slight musty smell...but an amazing view if you get a park view room. However I feel it is very overpriced which is why I am giving it 3 stars.
This hotel is super outdated and worn down. Room with double beds are supposedly full size that look like twin beds. Front desk Service is mediocre at best, although the bellman service was good. The location is awesome and It makes up for where everything else lacks. You get what you pay for! Unfortunately, I would not stay here again and next time spend more for a better experience.
Brought my son to this delightful hotel for a few days. This is easily one of the best locations in all of Manhattan. Between the serenity and beauty of central park and the hustle/bustle of midtown nyc, you simply cannot find a nicer place to stay. The room was quiet and very comfortable; the bed was incredibly supportive. The hotel staff was exceptional. I paid a very reasonable rate for a first-class experience here. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation! Treat yourself!
Lovely view to the park. The staff was efficient and kind. It keeps the Manhattan atmosphere alive and hope you will maintain it because although it is a big hotel, it still feels intimate. I would repeat m experience anytime. One suggestion: the lounge and cafeteria could use a good revamp. The staff there would also do good with customer service training.
Not accommodating to changes in travel plans, even during this time of national turmoil with the COVID pandemic. I am traveling to NY for medical treatment. I called to change the dates of my travel from 3 nights to 2 nights as my doctor had to reschedule my appointment times. They said it would cost an extra $80 to continue to stay there because I couldnt check in until a day later. The empty room costs them more money? The change/cancellation fee was around $160. They made no efforts to encourage me to stay at their establishment. I have no interest in staying in a hotel that has no interest in filling their rooms. I cancelled my reservation completely due to the poor customer service..
We had mixed feelings about this hotel. It is an old elegant hotel with good service. They also have a guest reception with free drinks and appetizers from 5-7pm daily. We did attend one night and while it was great it was incredible packed and food and drink line was a nightmare with people pushing to get there items (this didnt bother us too much but had to mention). Our complaint is that the room was substandard for what we expected at the price. The walls were dinged up and scratched. The bathroom had not been updated in years with a cracked granite countertop and a toilet that was stained from the water. Some of the wallpaper was flaking off. I hesitate to give 3 stars for this but it really did standout to us and would hope that they update some of these things soon for a more complete experience.
Booked myself and my girlfriend for a City-view room with a king sized bed for two nights. When we arrived, we were immediately helped by the gentleman behind the VIP check-in counter as he did not have a line at the time. He was kind and courteous and immediately made us feel welcome. The room looked exactly as described in the listing, the view was as nice as could be expected. The next time we stay we are probably going to shell out some extra money for a park-view room, but overall we had a grand experience at the Park Lane Hotel and will definitely be returning
Horrible experience . Its simply dated and extremely dirty ! The room with the park view had mold on the window wall! The couch is dirty Full of stains ! Disgusting .All showers from the entire huge hotel are the same tiny size , rusty , dated , with a shower Curtain!!! Was disgusted to shower in there. The staff shared that it wasnt updated for the last 50 years! Since hotel was built in 60s !!! A small dirty fridge was located under the sink next to the toilet in one of the rooms !!!! Thats not hygienic!!!!! Has no room service after 3pm, forget about a mini bar , you have a coffee shop downstairs which closes also at 3 pm.The staff is rude and downstairs is like a bus station . We tried to upgrade to get a better room, in 30 min spent at reception saw 3 clients complaining about the rooms and canceling the reservation. We did the same. It literally traumatized me to see how they are tricking people with photoshopped pictures which dont relate the smells , dust and stains !There are so many better options in that area with same price range.
Location is excellent and the room we had on the 20th floor was an executive junior suite with a park view. It was spacious and well appointed with fabulous views over Central Park. Regarding the condition of the hotel, being generous, Id say it was shabby chic but with a liitle too much emphasis on the shabby. A renovation is clearly overdue. That said, our room was clean and serviced every day.The staff were very friendly and helpful and the evening hospitality betwen 5 and 7 was good and an unexpected bonus with the executive package. The 3 stars in my review are down to the hotels general shabby condition and the cost of a stay doesnt really reflect this so as it stands the hotel is not good value for money.
The room was very nice however food and service was very poor. We were charged $26 for 2 tiny coffees and a chocolate croissant, of which tasted old, wet and below average. For dinner we went to ‘harry’s Bar’ in the hotel. The service was very poor. We were shouted at by the waiter, who did not clean our table before seating us. The food wait was over 1 hour just for soup and when it came out it was stone cold. Not a great experience.
The hotel looks nice online and in the lobby. The actual rooms are quite old and not that clean. Grout looks gross in the bathroom, pillows look fluffy but are super flat, looks like the carpet hasnt been cleaned in years. One of the more annoying things about our stay is that theres a thermostat in the room, but it doesnt seem to work. When we arrived it said the room was 78 degrees and it was turned down to 64. We came back after like 5 hours of it still being at 64 and it was still hot in the room. Staff is very nice and helpful but the hotel is just dingy overall.
Really nice hotel in Manhattan right off Central Park. I have stayed here several times. The staff is very accommodating, I stayed there this summer when unfortunately the air conditioning went out in the building. The management was as accommodating as they could be. Betty who is a regular hostess at the Happy Hour is always great to get back to. If youve been to the Happy Hour youll remember Betty really sweet lady that takes the time to be truly hospitable to all the guests.
This hotel offered an amazing location to stay close to Central Park and the service was amazing! Every night the 5-7 Hospitality Reception was very worthwhile and provided very tasty hors doeuvres! We had the breakfast package so we ended up with an amazing buffet breakfast each morning. Overall, service was fantastic as the bellhops were super helpful (Rob especially) and our only complaint was that the concierge was pushy and almost seemed like a sales person in trying to sell bus tours. Other than that, our stay was perfect!
This hotel is centrally located but definitely not luxury as billed. The decor, carpeting, furniture are very dated. And although tidy, the lobby furniture is stained and uncomfortable. Service is sub par. I went to retrieve a package from the front desk and the attendant handed me a phone to speak to someone myself. I tried to extend my stay another night and was transferred 3 times, the reservationist could not even tell me what room type I had. There are far better hotels in NY.
Hotel is in a great location but is very tired. Think peeling wallpaper, dirty carpet, no coffee machine , robes or slippers in the rooms.....& We paid almost $600/night. The gentleman working the concierge is not pleasant. This could be a lovely hotel with some new carpet & wallpaper removal.
The scenery is absolutely worthy for this price.I will say all the money that you spend on is for location. The facilities in this hotel are very old and without good repair. My first impression was really bad cuz I checked in like around 11 and the front told us that we had to wait for 20 mins for room cleaned. And then we ask the front why they hadn’t prepared before we came. They said like we have to check the room is perfect. I am not a mean customer but the hotel never thinks like the time you check the room is not when the customers come. You have to do this before like 4p.m. My parents were angry about the hotel management. The staff is totally not sufficient. no kettle no tea cup in the room is weird.
Overall, its very good so far. Awesome location for first time NYC visitors. Housekeeping, front desk and room service are all great! But I can do without Marie at the Lavazza cafe who complains about every little thing. People say New Yorkers are rude, I dont think that its true, they are efficiently polite. Except Marie who doesnt seem to like her work and hates to serve people. Shes the only thing wrong with this hotel, no one needs this at 6 in the morning. If it were one time, maybe Id shrug it off as a bad day she might be having but 2 mornings in a row already proves it is an issue of attitude. She shouldnt be in a service job if she doesnt like to serve. She has forgotten the purpose of her job and the reason why shes paid. I do commend housekeeping, they aim to please and very prompt and polite.
Arrived at 7pm and told the room wasnt ready. Given a different room which was musty and had stains on the carpets. The A/C did not work well and room never got below 76 degrees which was uncomfortable while sleeping. This hotel is clearly charging premium price ($300 a night) for the location and not properly maintaining the property. Would not recommend.
We stayed at Park Lane Hotel NY earlier this month. While the location is great and the customer service was good, the hotel itself needs major renovations. We had booked a Premier City View Double room. Upon check in, I was told the system had us down as a Premier City View Queen. I showed her our confirmation of the double beds booking. She was very friendly and professional in resolving our issues. She apologized but said the hotel was at max capacity so they would roll in a rollaway bed and will move us to the correct room the next morning. I was sadly disappointed with the rooms we stayed in. I dont even know where to start with my disappointments...the wallpapers were peeling, stained marks through out the room and bathroom and the furnitures were badly dinged-up. The rooms has obvisously seen better days. Oh my gosh, the bathroom was the worst!...I was afraid to touch anything in there. You could see the rust buildup in the door hinges, the sink and bathtub faucets were very old and when I turned the knob to shut off the water, it wouldnt shut off. Ive never had to put so much effort to turn off a water faucet in a hotel room before..pathetic to say the least. The bathtub needed a major scrub down as you could see the massive soap scum buildup along the walls. It was the worst feeling having to take a shower in it. I was trying my best not to touch the walls or anything while showering. I give this hotel 2 stars only because it was in a great location and customer service was good.
Its a very good hotel. You will love the location. Rooms are clean. It is also quite popular. While I was there, I noticed that it was the most alive of all the hotels in that line. And ya, they serve daily snacks and sweets and free water bottles and a lot more everyday from 5 to 7 pm. It just adds up to your hotel experience. Enjoy!!!
Keep looking! This hotel is overpriced for the condition of the rooms. While my room had an absolutely beautiful view, it is in dire need of a remodel. The carpet was stained, the lamps wonky, and the bathroom was terribly out of date with rickety cabinetry and nasty little mid-century tiles. I visit the city regularly on business, and have found much better rooms for much less. I would not recommend this hotel, or stay there again.
Amazing views. Everything else was subpar. Despite extensive efforts to make sure I secured connecting rooms, I was not given connecting rooms at check in. Hotel personnel at check in desk were rude, not one smile, seemed annoyed to even check me in. Second day, a different assistant manager, Miriam, helped secure connecting rooms and on a higher floor. New room did not have a shower that worked. But after so much effort and stress, I just stayed where I was and took baths instead. Rooms smelled musty. But again, unbelievable views! Gorgeous Schoenbeck chandeliers. Miriam the day assistant manager and Tim the Door Man were amazing. Everyone else, disappointing. Location was amazing.
Nice location but room is just adequate, definitely over due for upgrades. Bathroom has visible mold in tub and windows are poor as you hear everything going on outside just as if the window was open. Dont plan to stay here again! We also did not get any value in $33 /day facility fee...attended hospitality suite but could not even find a place to sit so we never bothered again.
Location is awesome, next to the Central Park, metro station and a lot of POI. We booked a room with partial park view and instead we got one on the other side of hotel, but this was corrected after quick talk with the portier. Service is great, genuine nice people working here, people with real smile greeting you each time is nice. Each day 5pm guest can visit the bar/restaurant for some snacks and drinks that are included in the mandatory daily 33$ service fee. Windows are pointing to the park and its really nice relaxing atmosphere. Very few seats so get there early, or you could bring some drink and snacks back to the room. Good to mention that bed and pillows are good too. Usually hotels have hard, or too big pillows but here someone really thought about this detail. Great! For me this is very important feature when staying at the hotel. Hotels are primarily for overnight sleep so then I want good comfortable bed to relax in. International phone charger is great to have but if you forgot it hotel has converters that you can use, next to each side of the bed. Thats another detail that someone put a thought to, very good.
I always stay here in New York. The hotel is classy, old elegance, the rooms are great and the buffet breakfast is extraordinary. 3 steps to 5th Avenue or Madison ( at 59th )a subway and across from Central Park, walk to Broadway. Prices differ greatly according to need; for example, if the UN is meeting, or if the Marathon is on that week, the price may double or more.
This hotel is located on Central Park South, and it’s definitely worth choosing a room with a view of the Park. The room we stayed in was very large, the bed was very comfortable; the bathroom was also very roomy and the towels are great.Staff were very accommodating in letting me store my luggage before check-in and after check-out.This is the least expensive hotel in the area, and certainly on Central Park South, and the hotel is definitely a quality property. A nice touch is that they have a happy hour every day for 2 hours with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine, water & fruits.I would highly recommend this hotel for a memorable stay in NYC.
You can sleep here, the beds are comfortable and the sheets are clean. Good location. Check-in service is sub-par. Furniture looks nice but is old and functionally broken. Simple things like socket adaptors, which you can get in just about every hotel in the world for free or with a deposit in for your room, here have to be bought from the Hotel gift shop for over $10. Everyone apart from room cleaning staff has been borderline rude. Will not be coming back.
The location and accommodations were great! The happy hour was a nice treat especially since we watched snow fall. The first night our room was good but Lamar and Edidta made arrangements for a better room our second night, which was awesome! My only complaint was that our bags got lost somewhere in transit (for several hours) during the room change. Nana was helpful in getting the problem solved but we were nearly late for our show as a result. I would definitely stay here again!!!
Valet is available for the hotel. You won’t be able to find parking near the place. It cost 65 dollars for twenty four hours which is a reasonable price compared to the garages closest to the hotel. The workers at the hotel are nice and friendly. The views of Central Park is great and worth the stay. Definitely a picture perfect view.
What a view. If you stay here, opt for the park view. Its a must. We enjoyed the entire stay at the Park Lane though there were a few minor things that couldve been improved. It seemed as though the staff werent willing to go above and beyond at all to help with any questions we had. We had hoped to get into our room early to change for reservations but they didnt have anything for us (not their fault) but it wouldve been nice to be able to change in a room versus the fitness center. We LOVED the view. And the reception was nice but we didnt use it. The only amenity we used was the Wifi. Thats why I was sort of bummed when we got an extra $180 added to our check for the stay due to a hotel fee. Yes, I know it was agreed upon during our checkin and during the booking of the room but it stung when we checked out. OVERALL, I recommend a stay here if you can its a great area and view. Youll love it.
The good:Spectacular view of the park and the city, especially from the higher floors. Even other elevator patrons were talking about it on our rides up and down.Very quiet room (41st floor, corner room). Unbelievably quiet, really, given that it’s NYC.Water pressure in the shower better than almost any other hotel I’ve been at, but certainly not amazing. Just better than average for a hotel, which is a very, very low bar to jump over.Check-out isn’t until noon, which is awesome. The bad:Check-In isn’t until 4p, and you’re not getting in a second earlier. As others have stated, the AC barely cools the room. It was already set as low as it could go and ran 24/7 for the two days we were there. It was…..fine. Not hot, not cold….just a touch warmer than what we’d have it set at home. It was in the 90’s outside. I slept in boxers and a t-shirt with just a sheet. I was fine until the middle of the night when I finally required the blanket. The room is not especially clean. As my wife said, this is where you go when you want a Plaza View without paying for the Plaza (it’s right next door at $900 per day). They call it a 4-star hotel, but it’s really a 2-star as far as I’m concerned. The stock photos make the rooms look incredible. Really, they’re just average rooms. Be sure to check out user-submitted photos.Pull the AC cover off and you’ll see just how filthy things can be.The bathroom was dirty. Lot of hair that wasn’t ours in the corners of the tiled floor. Grout dark (possibly mold, maybe just dirt) in several spots.Summary:Despite all the bad, we rebooked a second day, mainly so we could use the room before 4p and equally because we wouldn’t have to lug our luggage around to the next hotel. They let us keep the same room, too, which was a pleasant surprise; we assumed they’d be sold out.Would we go back? Probably. It’s a poor man’s way to see Central Park from 40 stories up. Incidentally, a quiet room and water pressure trump almost everything else in my book and this suite had both. The bathroom may have been dirty for a hotel, but it was infinitely cleaner than my own bathroom at home.
This hotel is amazing! We asked if we could have a room on one of the higher floors as we would have a better view and we ended up in the 43rd floor with the best hotel view ever! Our room was also very clean but in the morning, the lifts were always packed and once we had to stop at about 35 floors before we got to reception. Definitely recommend this hotel and will be coming back if we visit NYC again.
While the location is awesome, the lobby is very nice, and the staff are friendly, the rooms are in need of updating. The rooms reminded me of my 1980s home. Our room had wires hanging out of the wall, the window whistled when the wind blew (I pried a note pad in the window to prevent the whistling; another guest did the same and you could still see the paper in the track), the internet was extremely slow (approximately 1-2 MB download speeds), the bathroom sink was extremely slow to drain, the bathtub had more caulking than my house, and the bathroom floor needed to be replace 10 years ago. Lastly, the room service was lacking in every way possible. There were days we did not have towels, never had wash cloths until the last day, no bathroom tub towel to soak up the water that was coming out from the shower curtain (yes, a shower curtain). I can go on, but...
This place is resting on its laurels and location. Ive traveled for business and pleasure extensively for the last 25 years and this hotel is among the worst places Ive seen. Front desk staff was condescending and not at all friendly. The carpets were filthy, there was a broken door and drawer in the bathroom, and a mini fridge was shoved awkwardly under the bathroom sink. The handles were broken off the dresser and the shower leaked. Because of its location, this hotel charges a high nightly rate. It is absolutely not worth it. Try 70 Park, the Grand Hyatt or the Hilton Midtown for a much better experience. To Owner -- how would you like to receive my personal information? Im not going to post it. Please provide an appropriate person and email contact or twitter contact.
The location is great if you get a park view. Hotel is dated with old furniture rooms size is ok but only queen size beds which is disappointing for the price you pay. Air con is poor and taking a shower or a wash leaves you with bath or sink with water that takes ages to drain. The additional charges of $35 + taxes every day is extortionate. All in all your paying for the view of central park. But will try another hotel next time I visit New York. Stayed 17th -21 August 2019
Very disappointed in this hotel, for what it costs I was expecting a lot more. Shower was sub par at best, there wasn’t a fan so one shower would fog the mirror and windows for 45min. Also we had to beg to get more than two towels. alarm clock didn’t work but no worries because we got woke up at 5am by the construction every morning. I will say that the staff especially the bell desk was top notch.
I took a friend here with a group of girls to celebrate a bachelorette party. I booked the executive double suite with a Central Park view, and boy was that view breathtaking. The view alone was well worth the cost (which was reasonable considering our location!) Concierge was helpful as were even the doormen.Awesome happy hour, albeit crowded. Please note the breakfast is not complimentary. A few of my friends were unaware of this, and went down while I was sleeping and incurred a $130 bill for three people. Management was really nice about it though as there was no signage or indication of the price, and ended up crediting the room for the amount. If you have a car I recommend shopping around online as valet parking at the hotel is kind of pricey and it was half as expensive across the street.Overall, I would definitely stay here again. Its a beautiful hotel in the heart of Manhattan and no better location!
Stayed 3 nights, Jan 21-24, 2020, plus 10 nights in August 2014, and 4 nights in February 2013, always on the Premier Level, which is floors 30 to 46, with a Central Park view.If you can get it in the low season for a low price, it is lots of fun! Amazing view, great location to walk in the park, on Fifth Avenue, and to Lincoln Center.Negatives are: a) a $35 facility fee not obvious when booking, b) NO internet connection (incredibly slow) despite the $35 fee, c) HVAC took all day to go from 70° to 71° (barely perceptible heat coming out), d) the couch had a half-inch square hole in the back of the top (Room 4304), and e) no coffee maker. If you are going to book a Central Park view, in the summer the bright sun will be blasting the room around 5:30 a.m., making you want to close the curtains at night, so it is best to book this only from November 1 to March 1, when the sun rises later, and in the south. They told me 5 years ago they were upgrading the rooms, but never did - rumors were that they wanted to tear it down and build a supertall. It still feels luxurious enough, just a little worn. If you book it outside of the low season you might feel ripped off, unless you can a cheap city view room.
The location of the Park Lane overlooking Central Park is amazing. Even more amazing was the service. The staff went out of their way to ensure our needs were met and more. Our family spent five days at the Park Lane. I would recommend this hotel to any family wanting to visit New York.
Good hotel with excellent location and phenomenal views of central park. Also as easy walk to Broadway etc and close to a number of metro lines. Id definitely chose this hotel again for a trip to NY. The only downside is food in the hotel is poor with a mediocre happy hour and coffee shop with huge lines, but this is New York so plenty of alternative places locally (I recommend the shops at the Plaza for morning coffee).
Best place ever!!! Went for the macys parade and to celebrate my daughters birthday. The staff was so helpful and amazing. Went out of their way to make it awesome for us. Cant thank you guys and girls enough. Especially the people at Harrys bar! Cant wait to come back again.
Hotel was in a nice location, the rooms were clean and spacious enough, but the partial park view room and customer service was pretty bad. First off, the partial park view that was promised with my room was a very dramatic explanation of what was visible. If you pressed your face to the window and turned your head ninety degrees to the left, you could just barely see a few trees. So be careful when paying extra for a room like that. Second, we had a bag lost by the airline that was to be delivered the next day. I phoned three times throughout the day asking if it had shown up - the response each time was No bags have come in. Finally, I had enough and called the airline and subsequently the delivery company who informed me that Mrs. X had signed for my bag earlier in the day. Upon calling the front desk again, I was told nothing was in. After explaining how I was told Mrs. X had signed for it, they said: Oh, well actually there are a few bags here. Brutal. Blatantly lied to throughout the day because the staff was too incompetent to go look for any bags. Last but not least, it took them about an hour to deliver the bag after they apologized and said it would be sent up right away. Had to go down to the front desk and call again from my room after that to finally have it sent up. Im sure they are not always this awful with attending to issues, but I was only in NYC for one day and effectively had no bag for that entire time period due to their negligence.
The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is showing its age. The bathroom sink paint was worn through. The restaurant was definitely old. The tables and chairs looked very worn. The restaurant had good food. $88 for two breakfast buffets is over the top crazy expensive. The wait staff is mediocre. They automatically put a 15% gratuity on your bill. There is no incentive for the waiters to provide good service. We had a limited view of Central Park. I recommend getting at least as high as the 20th floor. The beds are too firm.
Fantastic hotel. Its our second night of ten days and we couldnt be happier.Lovely staff, big room, great views and what a location. Walking distance from all the sights in mid Manhattan.Dont let the room facilities payment put you off, for that you get to use the gym, you get free calls anywhere in the world, you get free wi-fi, use of the business facilities and you get free snacks, fizzy wine, wine, beer, soft drinks for free between 5pm and 7pm every day.Very happy with the hotel.Attached are a couple of images of the view from our room.We had a queen room with partial park view as we wanted to see a classic Manhattan sky line.
Lobby staff was outstanding and helpful. Location great, of course. Breakfast decent but astronomical $$$. The room was very dated, worn, not well-cleaned (found several hairs of varying length and color in bathroom, for example), and overall felt musty, for lack of a better word. For the $ there are better options.
Had a fabulous trip to New York and loved the Park Lane Hotel. Great staff and excellent service. Beautiful room overlooking Central Park. Large rooms, very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Loved the location and cant wait to stay there again. We were on a girls trip from New Orleans. We know good hospitality and we got it here at this lovely hotel. Hope to see you again in the summer of 2018. Thanks for making our stay so much fun.
I had an amazing time in this hotel booking the park view premium rooms, the view of the park was breathtaking, I suggest book these rooms or upper levels above 39 floor. The hotel location is great and you feel very comfortable in this hotel. Staff were friendly.Bathroom was a bit old & could have been improved. but all in all I had a fantastic time.
Thank you to everyone at Park Lane Hotel for a tremendous 7 night stay in your lovely hotel. Being so central to everything, my wife and I loved every minute. With Central Park literally across the road, Times Square, Broadway and The Empire State Building all within walking distance we just never got our breath. The daily afternoon get togethers were terrific and the snacks and free drinks were well received. Highly recommended, we look forward to returning later this year for more of the same. We were made so welcome, thank you.
Last weekend was our second time staying at this hotel. There are several things we like about this place. The location is great. You are right across from Central Park and a few blocks away from MAJOR SHOPPING! Also, there is an amazing food hall located inside The Parker Hotel (which is right next to The Parker Lane) with amazing quality food! The hotel will also valet your car- so no need to worry about finding a parking garage (it is a bit pricey at $75/24hrs. but..its NYC-everything is pricey!). The staff is very helpful and courteous- very welcoming. The room decor is a bit outdated but the rooms are spacious, clean and have great views of the park and city!
The rooms are not the most updated. Thats said a lot of the reviews here made me nervous and we had a great time. We would stay here again. We had 6 people two rooms we all agreed.Pros:- Location- Happy Hour (Free Beer, Wine, and champagne, snacks, water, food)- AC was cold- Price- The mattress looked brand new and clean ( I heard bad stories about something New York hotels having g bed bugs)Cons:- No min fridge- Rooms were dated (carpet looks old or dirty). NYC foot traffic all over them.
The location was great and the hotel offers good value for money in this area. We had breakfast in the food hall next door and can recommend Bobby Vans two doors down for excellent food.Yes the hotel is looking tired in places but others in the area are much more expensive. The bed is comfortable, the view was great and the staff are happy to help with any problems. I would definitely book here again.
Very comfortable hotel right on Central Park and not too expensive, about $200 a night. I wasnt in the hotel much but when I was it was very nice. I came late in the evening about 9pm, apparently when that happens they often have to upgrade you to a better room. I was upgraded to a suite facing the park. The bed in the room was bigger than my bedroom back home. I was truly spoiled. I only stayed one night but they let me keep my bags there all day long after I checked out which was awesome as I wanted to spend the day walking Manhattan. I had a great experience there and I think it was great value for the location, although it may be cheaper in winter?
Unbelievable view from the higher floor rooms - overlooking central park. The buffet on the second floor in the afternoon was a nice touch and make you feel welcome. The addition of a pool would be good, but in NYC it is understandable as space is such as issue. The design was a little bit old fashioned and could do with some renovation - but the location for it is excellent especially as its next to a major subway stop!
Loved the location, quality, and view from our room. Only lacking a fifth star because our sheets had a few holes and we were never able to get our room below 77 degrees even with the blind shut (which really took away from the view we were paying for). Would absolutely stay again.

2022-06-01This was one of the best hotel experiences my wife and I have ever had. We were celebrating our ten year anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our anniversary trip was a wonderful one. We had an amazing view of Central Park on a high floor that left us literally sitting in front of the window gazing and enjoying the beauty of the park. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially those celebrating a special occasion. The staff was excellent, the amenities were excellent, and the rooftop restaurant (Darling) had amazing views of Central Park. It was a really magical stay for us.

2022-05-25Front rooms with a spectacular view! No other option is worth it to book the hotel. The other rooms are nice but really too expensive without the breathtaking Central Park view. Very fresh and modern cosy look. Some rooms have very, very small closets and bathrooms. ...🤨. The rooftop bar/restaurant is stylish but with quite too noisy hip music... talk with your friends while you are sipping the good cocktails is difficult. The wonderful view is only visible for tall or non sitting persons. So, if you reserve a table because of the view....take a bar table outside. Breakfast is not yet good enough for the price (50$pp plus tax plus tip)...and while sitting at a table, you have no view because the windows are to high...All employees are very friendly! Special thanks to the wonderful Lady serving breakfast at the rooftop and to deep-voice-Dillon from the bar team at the ground floor 😉! ADA Rooms are good, but the entrance door is really, really heavy to open. Once, when you are inside, there is an automatic door to the bathroom. Why not add that helper for the front door?

2022-03-24Great place right at the park. I loved my king suite with park view, but wished the hotel equipped all suites with a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave. There was a kitchen counter with a sink so these amenities would have fit well. Considering the price per night, these are basic amenities that would make the stay more comfortable especially for families. I’ve stayed at other hotel suites in Manhattan and these were provided for. The front desk and door men were friendly and helpful.

2022-06-13First time at the Park Lane Hotel and will not be the last. An upscale hotel doing just about everything on-point. Check in and check out was smooth. Everyone my family and I encountered was super friendly and professional. In fact, all the bellmen/front desk/ staff were genuinely nice. We stayed in a Panaramic Park view room and all i can say is, Wow! Gorgeous accommodation with a spectacular views of Central Park. My family and I, including our two children, would 100% stay here again.

2022-06-24Ive stayed at Park Lane twice. Loved it. Wonderful location on Central Park South. The manager who checked me in upgraded me to a high floor with a Park view. She was delightful. Not sure if they still have the Managers complimentary cocktail hour gathering for guests? A nice touch. Lots of nice canapés etc.

2022-04-05Absolutely Amazing Time staying at the Park Lane Hotel. We loved everything about it. Location, Cleanliness, and stunning views of central park and the city. The rooftop breakfast for only staying guests was the highlight of our trip. So amazing. We will return soon !!

2022-01-03The view was incredible if youre lucky enough to have a floor high enough. Great location too.Unfortunately, we did experience some issues with the service, the glasses in our room had been used and not replaced from the previous guests. This is unacceptable in normal circumstances never mind during the pandemic. Our bags were to be brought to our room at check in. This was not the case, we had to call reception twice and wait an hour to receive our bags.We also experienced staff arguing over tips we had just handed them.

2022-06-20I decided to make a quick trip to New York with my family and my husband this weekend, only for two nights. After reading the reviews of this location, I selected the Park lane hotel as my place of stay, because they all were 5 stars experiences. I saw the pictures and I loved it. Well.. I just got to my room and my experience so far is not good. First, I requested a Central Park view, and there was no room available. I said fine, maybe next time. You can see for yourself on the pictures I am about to post as I walked to my room. The rooms and hallways are dark, like really old looking. Dark Stains all over the place.. on the carpet, on the curtains, on the walls; nails on one of the chairs in the room. And a demolished building as your view on the opposite side of the building. This is not good at all for 147 dollars a night hotel. Very disappointed. Completely horrible

2022-06-13Definitely pay up for a room above the 25th floor for amazing view of Central Park. Watch the sunrise and the sundown! Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Tons of cabs nearby to get to airport. Amazing location right on the park, literally across the street. Hotel was spotless clean. Not cheap by any means, but what I would call very competitively priced for being on Central Park.
