I would definitely not recommend living here, the rent prices they want to charge is absolutely outrageous, in my short time being here I saw this place go through hell, only a handful of employees do there job, I would try to call there on call phone and no one would ever answer, they seem to go through employees like toilet paper, but I guess thats what you get when you have the management they do, the two ladies in the office are far from professional, I overheard one of them calling dibs on someone elses stuff as they were getting evicted, and the other one seems to busy flirting with her other co workers to fulfill her job. This place needs serious work, professionalism around here is a definite not.
DO NOT LIVE HERE, STAFF IS DISRESPECTFUL AND ONLY ENJOY TAKING YOUR MONEY.August 2017 my family and I moved in, we were promised full renovations to our townhome we were signing a lease for. This included appliances, flooring, countertops, and cabinets.I have only gotten cabinets and countertops, this has left me with nasty flooring that stays dirty no matter how many times I mop!A stovetop that is crooked and I must hold my pants even as possible while cooking so nothing spills. They will ignore messages sent to them and when confronted about not replying they continue to read your messages and ignore you.March 31st I asked for a work order to be put in for an ant problem in our utility room (no food was in there just out washer and dryer.)We told them we attempted to take care of the issue but failed. It is now may 31st and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE!We decided to get the hell out of this place asap when my husband got orders to pcs and we have put in our 30 days notice and asked how much we will be paying on the 1st with no response. They office staff is rude, and very disrespectful, to make matters worse there is no way of speaking with anyone higher to bypass these people when NOTHING is done.
Mountaineer Estates is a relatively decent apartment complex here in Watertown NY. They almost always have some vacancies and regularly have promos to encourage new prospective Tenants to join. Cash payments for both new and current tenants if they were recommended by a current tenant.Trash and water are included in their billing system, and they accept pets with a pet deposit. Maintenance takes care of repairs rather regularly and lawn care, snow removal, and such are all taken care of by management, usually via a contractor or maintenance themselves. The reason that they are only three stars has less to do with management than the buildings and the price. The some of the buildings are a bit older and designed poorly for the local winters. The window frames are made of aluminum, there is some insulation, but it isnt sufficient for winters that sometimes get well below zero. Some of the older buildings have issues with mold as a result of the poor design for the local weather, in general a better fit for California than Northern New York. The rent can be a bit high, over 1200 dollars for a three bedroom, especially for the condition of the older buildings. The newer ones are probably worth as much. However the rent pricing is likely to drop off soon due to the surge of on base housing for the military personnel in the area.I would recommend an apartment here if you can catch one of the discounts, otherwise you may want to continue to shop around.

2020-02-27The people are nice but the level of professional responsibility is lacking. When I first moved in I had to ask them repeatedly for things that should be expected to be done on day one, such as giving me the mailbox keys. I look past things like leaks and bugs and doors that dont close because, overall, the property is nice, if you dont expect perfection. But when I moved out, they first charged me the full months rent because apparently it was my responsibility to cancel the automatic payments, which they neglected to tell me. But then they couldnt refund me the money due back to me for the pro-rated month until after I moved out and then only by paper check, snail-mailed to me. So, after I moved out, I called to check if the refund was on its way, only to be informed that they were charging me an extra three days because no one checked the drop box on Saturday when they were in the office, and since Monday was a holiday, they charged me an extra $135 for their mistake and they were not taking any responsibility for it. Plus they were trying to charge me $130 for carpet cleaning as part of their normal turnover process. It is my understanding that normal wear and tear and upkeep are usually ruled by courts as landlord responsibilities and should not be included in fees for the tenants. In other words, I have heard of this complex charging ridiculous fees when you leave and it is 100% true. I have lived in six different states and have never been charged these kinds of fees. I am due $700 prorated rent and they are just trying to keep the majority of that money by trumping up false fees and charges. So far, they have only sent a check for half of what is due back to me.

2021-08-22They have issues keeping good maintenance people. Definitely price range is questionable. Probably could do better back ground checks on who they let rent here.

2019-12-24I kept a list of all the horrible experiences these people gave me but its so frikn long that google says I’ve “exceeded the character limit.” Suffice it to say that this place is absolutely terrible—lived there for 2 years and escaped as soon as I was able to afford it!!Replying to their comment on my review: the vast majority of the problems SHOULDN’T HAVE EXISTED IN THE 1st PLACE—& several issues were NEVER addressed. I shouldn’t have been told on my move-in day when I arrived with a full U-Haul that I couldn’t move in because my apartment wasn’t ready yet, I shouldn’t have gotten letters on my door every other month telling me that I had to lock my pets up in cages for days on end because some kind of inspection was going to occur, I shouldn’t have had my dining room and kitchen flooding every other month because of the horrible plumbing, the list goes on and on!

2018-09-28We recently moved into a 3bd townhome and couldnt be happier. It was recently renovated so the updates add a really nice touch. They had a great rent special at the time we signed our lease and I feel like we got a lot for our money. We were initially looking into moving on post but they were only offering us a 2 bedroom apartment. So glad we found Mountaineer Estates!

2019-02-26THIS PLACE IS SHADY! At first this place was great, people were friendly. When we ETSed we gave management our orders. When we left fort drum They sent an email to my husband about “fees” we had to pay. The fees were ridiculous, if anyone wants I can send them the email Of the fees through DM. They were asking over 1,300.00. We agreed on most of the fees, but One of the fees that they were charging us for was a large dent on the garage door that was there before we even moved. The same garage door that we were trying to get fixed since we moved in. My husband had gone countless times to the office to tell them & they either said “put a work order in & we will get it fixed” or “ok, we can also install the automatic door but you’ll have to pay a little extra”. Regardless it was never fixed & now they’re charging us for it. When we got the email we called them & they said that they’d reduce the price, but we still had to pay for a garage door that WE DID NOT DAMAGE! That was late December when they told us that & we haven’t heard back from them until today. Well it was not even mountaineer estates, it was a debt collector ... telling me that what we owed & that they were charging us a termination fee & a garage door fee ... last I check IF YOU HAVE ORDERS YOU’RE EXCLUDED FROM THE “termination fee”.

2017-10-20With the new owners, the place is cleaning up as best as it can, but they now offer affordable housing and with that has been a spike in the riff raff... So much so that my almost 12 year old cant even go outside, in eye shot of our unit, without me by her side because of the bullying and abuse she deals with from the neighborhood kids. We are forced to move due to that issue. The units are all being beautifully remodeled! The floor plans are amazing! The staff is SUPER friendly and addresses any concerns they can (including tenants bad kids), but they cant do anything about other neighborhood kids who go to the school and act inappropriately.
