Parlor in other cities:
I have been going to Parlor for years as a regular. I started out with baby pink hair that required a lot of bleach - and Parlor took care of me! I have learned so much about my own hair from my hairdresser, Sarah Jones (cant recommend her enough!) Not sure if its the natural Aveda products - but i learned how to take care of my hair in between visits and they just care - about you and your hair! I have now moved on and bounce between a blonder and darker - but always get so many compliments on my color! Sarah is amazing - she brings so much interesting depth and makes a very complicated process look great! The salon feels so warm and like a family - no judgey NYC hairdressers here :)*Covid info: Super impressed with the structure and procedures that have put in place during covid. As soon as I walked in they had it down on how to keep me safe - but also keep them safe! Very thoughtful, very clean and super safe. They even had a sterilized bag for my gown ready to go and wrap my belongings up yo make sure they were contained.
Gwen, the owner, is absolutely phenomenal. Not only have the COVID protocols been exceptional during this past year, but Gwen is just a gem. She truly cares about her employees, and teaching and inspiring them. She definitely has a nurturing heart.Aside from all of those accolades, she takes the time to truly understand what I am looking for and not just what she has an image of in her head. I could not recommend Parlor more.
Covid Update: I have been here twice since the summer and not only did I get a great cut as always, but I felt incredibly safe. Stylists and staff wore PPE, chairs were spaced far apart, sanitation was impeccable, and salon is open and airy. I’m cautious about the pandemic and this salon has been top notch as usual and a savior.Love this salon, stylists are great, prices are a little high, but in line with the neighborhood and worth the splurge. Id rather spend a bit more for a nice cut by good people than have to get an inferior job fixed. Gorgeous space too.
This was my first haircut in the pandemic and I felt really safe going in. They do temperature checks and ask everyone to wash their hands upon arrival. The number of people inside was very limited. everyone had masks and shields. Overall did a great job managing the COVID situation.
Love this salon. Sam Olson did my hair and did the most amazing job ever. I have curly hair and he gave me a cut and style. He’s so creative and gentle, id recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. I got so many compliments on my hair! Everyone was really kind in the salon as well. Can’t wait to go back
I’ve been going to Sara at Parlor for several years now - every visit is like a holiday! As well as an excellent haircut & color, I get complimentary hand massages, tea, there’s even a beautiful outdoor garden to sit in! The staff are always professional and kind, and it’s really convenient to make bookings or changes with their texting system. Love this salon!
When my husband and I were planning our wedding it was important for us to have the amazing women in our life be pampered by having their hair and makeup done before the festivities. Parlor Salon in Brooklyn did not disappoint. The salon itself is beautifully decorated and very upscale. The staff are an extremely professional group of trendy Brooklyn rockstars. From the moment we walked into the salon Kaitlyn handled everything with ease coordinating our group of 7 women. The staff were attentive to everyone’s needs and catered to each person’s unique styles. Every single person came out of the salon loving their hair/makeup and feeling gorgeous. I highly recommend this salon not only for weddings, but for any occasion where you want to come out looking stunning.
I’m love my cut by Alissa. She was able to accommodate my hair texture and give me a great trim and shape my fro exactly how I like it. My curls feel amazing.So...the badish news. This salon barely carries any products to accommodate 3c - 4c curls. You might have to bring you’re own products. My stylist realized the products available wouldn’t moisture my hair and improvised. She used a hair mask after she washed my hair as a leave in conditioner and blew my hair dry quickly with a blow dryer. I picked out my fro. She added shine with their one of the dope products they carry that work for my coils...the Aveda Brilliant Humectant Pomade and Viola!

2020-11-10IMARI saved my hair from one of its roughest points. She’s amazing and especially so for my curly and coily girls. Her consults are always on point and she made sure I left sooo happy with healthy hair. Loved my appointment!Everyone at the salon is nice. I’ve worked with Alissa as well and she gives fierce cuts. And the salon is still very clean and calm, during the pandemic, they do a great job to give you most of their services while dealing with new regulations.Safe to say, I’ll be back again.

2021-05-06From start to finish, my experience at Parlor was so lovely! Believe me when I tell you, I came in with some serious pandemic hair and walked out with all I had envisioned and feeling fantastic. Melisa was absolutely amazing and so talented! I love that she asked all the right questions to help get the highlights and cut just right. I will be back and I highly recommend!

2020-09-09My hair needed some serious love after this pandemic, but I am new to New York and needed to find a new stylist. The front desk was very thorough with questions to make sure they booked me for the right services and with a stylist at my price point. When I arrived the place was spotless and all Covid-19 precautions were taken. Everyone was friendly, and Imari was ready and waiting for me with a smile. She gave a thorough and attentive consultation, took her time to get my hair transformation right, and I left with gorgeous hair! I have been back a second time and received the same high level of customer service. I highly recommend Imari and Parlor salon in Brooklyn!

2020-09-26I have been super apprehensive about going back to a salon during the Covid pandemic, but finally decided to take the plunge. I decided to go to Parlor as a first time client, as it’s close to my apartment and let me continue to avoid taking public transit. The staff made me feel so incredibly comfortable, and they really do go above and beyond to ensure the safety of both their guests and their staff! I was so pleased with my overall experience, that I am going back for another service with Liz in a couple of weeks!

2020-09-28This is my go to spot! I’ve waited to go back to the salon because of the pandemic but the ladies at Parlor do a great job at making you feel safe and welcomed! The salon is clean and social distancing is in affect. Melisa who is my stylist is great; friendly, knowledgeable and amazing at making you feel beautiful when your out of the chair.

2020-08-29I went to Parlor for the first time last week at the recommendation of a friend. I was not disappointed! I felt very safe during my appointment and felt like everyone working there was also safe. They gave us a mask and robe to wear and there was plenty of distance. Oh and I also got a GREAT haircut from Imari. I will definitely be going back to Parlor!

2020-11-03Sooo happy to return to Parlor after 9 months without a haircut! They did an excellent job with all the COVID precautions - temp checks, masks provided (because you dont want hair in yours!) and required, clothes kept separate, every other chair empty - just super smart. And as always Sarah did an amazing job with my my sorta curly hair. I would never go anywhere else!

2020-11-13They were extremely covid conscious which made me feel completely at ease the whole time! They put all of my belongings in dry cleaner bags and everything they used had been sterilised and came out of fresh plastic bags. My stylist was so lovely and listened to exactly what I wanted! I was so happy with the results! I can’t recommend this salon more highly!

2020-11-25I had been calling around different salons and decided on this one because they seemed like they knew what they are doing on the phone during our consultation. I wanted to get my hair dyed a soft pink and knew that it would be difficult to lift it to a platinum but was fine with a somewhat darker pink as long as it wasn’t too fuchsia or hot pink. The lady on the phone had said it would be 4 hours and between $275 and $350. I was confident in this because I had asked many questions to know what I was in for. They only had appointments available for 9am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, I was hesitant to booking it because I usually do not get up that early on my weekend but I booked it for Sunday because I just wanted to get it done. I had rearranged my whole weekend around Sunday knowing that it would be 4 hours or possibly more. When I got to the Salon the assistant was very nice and so was the stylist but she said she had no idea what we were doing. This was surprising to me because the consultation I had was somewhat long and informative with me explaining in detail what I wanted and I had sent many reference photos. I had to re-explain what I was aiming for which was not that big of a deal but was taken aback when the stylist has said it would take multiple days to get the color I wanted and gave me the impression she did not seem to even want to do it. She said that I could do a darker pink and I had said about 5 times I was fine with that. When talking about pricing she said it would be in the 400s or 500s when I vividly remember the lower prices when I was on the phone. She suggested doing highlights in my hair or going over the streaks I had already dyed which made no sense because why would I pay money for something I clearly did on my own. I felt as thought many of the claims said on the phone were simply to get me to come into the salon. Eventually another lady that works there had come up to essentially tell me that I was not being open-minded. They asked me if I would want a pixie cut or other things I had not planned for whatsoever. I ended up leaving with nothing and had wasted my whole morning. I understood that getting a soft pink would be a difficult job considering my dark hair color but I would not have made a set appointment if they had not told me on the phone they won’t do it. (Obviously) It was a complete waste of time and getting up early and they never owned up to the fact I was told something completely different during the consultation. Edit: I’m not fourteen? And like I said multiple times I was flexible with having a darker pink instead of “pastel pink” I provided multiple photos with different shades of pink both during the phone consultation and in person. I also I’m tired of having said to me that I do not understand that it is difficult to lift my hair from super dark to a very light color. I understand that. But I had lightened it myself a few years ago to the actual original pastel color that I had aimed for and it worked out fine (no tears? I’m not five years old). You seem to be missing the entire point. It was not that I only had to have that pastel color it was that I was even told I could do a soft darker pink and yet when I actually came the stylist was reluctant to do it.

2020-09-29I was happy with my haircut and the relaxing environment and was impressed by the cleanliness and procedures they have in place to ensure customers feel safe in COVID-19 times. The stylist also mentioned they revised protocol to be more sustainable as well and cut down on single use waste. Will keep going back
