Jewish food on a high endWhat a place, food is outstanding. Potatoes potatoes and more.Pancakes Potatoes, get them, they are greasy at all , just supper tastyKniches are the best o have ever haf, looks like a supermarket one, nut it tastes way better! No beer, you would expect it hereNo wineNo bar, but what you going to do
The best.Chicken matzoh ball is really something else.Pastrami, brisket and turkey all A+Potato pancakes, Kanish all of it, everything they make is so good it doesnt make sense.Grew up and lived in Brooklyn for 30+ years and had all this at my fingertips, this is as stated, the best.
Great, authentic, New Yawk food! Cole slaw app was perfect. I had a hot pastrami sandwich and my friend had some hot dogs. Both were great.I grew up on Long Island and moved away for college. Came back 30 years later, and this place reminded me of why i miss long island (and the bagels and pizza, lol).
Went in solo today. Grabbed a table (server invited me to sit anywhere after I told him I was dining alone (with the NYT sports section). Server greeted me and gave perfect attention throughout my meal. Opted for juicy not lean on pastrami. Great sandwich, great knish and sides. Pastrami life is good!
Stopped in for a quick bite. I was hankering for a pastrami sandwich and I wasnt disappointed. Very friendly service and received the sandwich with 2 complimentary pickles within a few minutes, despite arriving at dinner time. The place has a dining room in the back, which looked surprisingly warm and welcoming, but I took mine to go. Only reason it got 4 stars not 5 is the price. $13+ dollars for a nice sandwich send just a bit high. It was served on marble rye, so it wasnt overly large.
The food is always fresh and delicious. The pastrami its not greasy yet totally flavorful. Corned beef is slice paper thin, moist and delicious. Pickles are outstanding. And the bread pudding is probably the best around. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, like neighbors we used to sit out with on the stoop. The music is nothing but Oldies from the 50s and early-60s. It doesnt get better than this!
Pastrami n Friends is one of the best restaurants we go to. The food is always consistently delicious, with very generous portions. The waitresses are very friendly and efficient, and the owners are always there and truly care that you are satisfied. They have been there for a very long time and have customers that return year after year, always leaving full and happy!
Drinks: not sure if they haveAtmosphere: Run down and dark. Needs an upgrade. Decorations are fun and cute but carpeting and lighting need to be upgraded.Service: Spotty. Front counter has great service. Table service is dependent on server. Slow and difficult to get a refill of your water.Price: Moderate. $12 for a corned beef or pastrami sandwich. The bill can get fairly expensive with a few sides and a soda.Parking: Usually easy to get a spot in the shopping center near the deli.Allergy: Not allergy friendly for nutsI love Kosher Delis! I wish there were more. They have good pastrami and corned beef. Knishes are good too. It is your basic Kosher deli with all the delicious options. Take out is easy as well. Service can be slow and the decor is dated and run down.
Favorite place to get Pastrami. Service is great. Also the Cole slaw and pickles are great and free for sit down dinner. Just be ready to pay $14 for a sandwich and if you are a big eater you will need 2. I took home a pound of Pastrami and paid $33 with tax. I love there Pastrami but for $33 I can get an aged prime rib eye steak. Still have to rate this place 5 stars as the Pastrami is that good.
Ive been coming here for about 12 years and its always been fantastic. The food is top notch.I keep kosher so I do go to many kosher restaurants in general. In my opinion (and my familys) you cannot beat the pastrami here. Weve eaten at Bens over the years and the pastrami at Pastrami N Friends is far superior. The Pastrami Burger here is probably my favorite thing on their menu.
For a LI Kosher deli it is great matzo ball soup excellent and the brisket on a club roll is mouth watering not dry but gravy on the side made it perfect. Knishes baked and fried were both good as was the mustard. Finally the certificate slaw and pickles as well as the Dr. Browns cream soda Rochelle the waitress was always checking to see if we needed anything else.
Nestled into the Meat Farms shopping center on Commack Road is a place called Pastrami and Friends. Came here for lunch with my wife. The roast beef and the brisket are delicious. Better than Johns of Brooklyn who boasts how good his sandwich is. I ordered the brisket and the meat is lean and cooked to perfection. If your in the area a trip to Pastrami and Friends is well worth it.
Pastrami and friends is the perfect place to enjoy the best tasting Pastrami Sandwich from Manhattan to Montauk, Fries. Cole Slaw and pickles. Etc.The wait staff is the friendliest group.Always asking How everything is!The owners are always present and friendly as well.If you do not live in the Commack area it is most definitely worth a trip, you will not be disappointed.
Was here last week with a friend and couldnt believe how delicious and lean my pastrami sandwich was. Cole slaw delicious and pickles had a nice crunch so I knew they were very fresh!!! Waitress Diane had a smile the whole time and checked in to make sure we were ok. A must visit ..
Okay this was great, my mother and I used to go to Bens over by the mall. While visiting my mother, I asked her what I should have for lunch. She mentioned this place and it soooooo took me back. Totally enjoyed the pastrami and bologna sandwich, cannot forget to mention the pickles 😋
I made an order through grub hub at 5:19 pm on 11/11. I received a confirmation and was told I would get my order between 6:00 and 6:15. At 6:30 I checked to see the tracking of my order and saw that it had been cancelled. I did not receive a call, text or e mail giving me this information. Grub hub said it was because they couldn’t fill my order. There is no way they were out of the things I ordered. I ordered chicken soup, a knish, stuffed cabbage and a few other things. In the past when I’ve ordered from different restaurants they call me to tell me if they are out of something. I was delayed almost two hours because I was expecting a delivery . I ordered from a different site from a different restaurant and finally got my dinner at 8:00. Grub hubs customer service was not helpful, and I never heard from the restaurant at all. If pastrami and friends didn’t have the time to fill my order, they shouldn’t be on grub hubs site.
Terrible service. Food was was just ok. Very greasy. I will never be back. The owner was very rude to people. I think he needs to retire. The food was so slow coming out and although the soup was the best of the meal this place is expensive. There are a lot of any places to go to. I will definitely not be back. Beware pick another place.
Pickles are the only thing I would recommend going for. The baked Knish was also decent. The rest of the food had no flavor. I went twice with groups of 4-6. In both visits, not one person was satisfied with Pastrami N Friends. The first time I wasnt sold, but gave it one more shot. It is so unfortunate that Zans by smith haven mall is actually better. However, I would still travel a little further west to find another deli. It wasnt horrible, so try it for yourself and maybe prove me wrong - but I would say pass on Pastrami N Friends.
Excellent Kosher Food.Pastrami is the way it should be.Everything we ordered was delicious. Its got the good old fashioned owner cares about the food he puts out...Wish they were closer.Best Matzo Balls Soup.Actually has chicken and vegetables in it. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
If you need kosher deli on a Saturday (as often happens to me), this is a winner. Unassuming, hidden in a shopping plaza in Commack, it provided comfort food after an afternoon hike. Not that many choices any more for this kind of place, other than Regal in Plainview and Bens. But keep it on the list. Friendly wait staff, generous portions, good food.
Great place for big portions of Kosher comfort food. Sit down and enjoy the bowl of cole slaw and side dish of pickles they bring to get you started. Then order a sandwich piled high with the deli meat of your choice. Have soup! Matzo balls in chicken broth. Mmm. Cabbage rolls. Meat loaf to die for. Finish with noodle pudding. The restaurant isnt cheap, but its worth the price for a real treat. If youre watching your calories and pocketbook, split an entree. Theyre ample for sharing.
Maybe it was an off night or something but I have to say it was a major disappointment and I have been there a number of times over the years and will not return. They have packages of Hebrew National pastrami in the case so I assumed that was what they used if they aren’t making their own and it tasted nothing like Hebrew National. Boars Head First Cut from the supermarket was actually more flavorable. On top of that, I have no idea what is up with the Franks. Nothing I’ve ever had from a kosher deli and I’ve been eating from them for over 40 years.
The food seems to be fine but the men who work the counter are lacking professionalism. I always leave feeling pretty annoyed. A tip: speak to women the same way they speak to men, dont be condescending, dont mock them, and dont make any of your customers wait and contine with your personal conversations as if nobody is standing there waiting to place an order. I have been there about 10 times, not once have I walked out the door not feeling offended. Also, the gloves you wear are to protect our food from nasty germs, not to protect you from the food.
Expensive, order is correct, want a weeks notice for the high holy days, sides ok, but it appears the meats to have become what they once were, not great. This is no no buddys kosher deli in queens or matches the one in Plainview. These kosher delis are worth the drive and money.
I always have I always had a wonderful experience at Pastrami and Friends the food is fantastic the waitress was wonderful although they have all the dining room is getting crowded because of the holiday she accommodated us very nicely and we had a wonderful wonderful meal thank you
[April 2010]My first surprise as I was walking up was realizing that Pastrami N Friends is a Kosher deli and restaurant. I hadnt realized that browsing through their listing.Regardless, I walked in and was immediately addressed at the front counter if I wanted to be seated or to order. I ordered roast beef and Swiss and was politely informed that the combination wasnt Kosher. So, I dropped the swiss and had the roast beef on a roll with mayo and pepper, with an order of fries and a Snapple. The roast beef sandwich was delightful, stuffed with a sizeable portion of lean roast beef. The sandwich came with two medium-sized pickles of my choosing -- I chose dill -- and the fries were meaty and not at all oily.I admit to suffering a bit of sticker shock as to the cost, but the entire lunch was perfect for my first springtime workday lunch in the heretofore cold and rainy Northeast.
Great Kosher food, well worth the 70 Mile drive back to my home town to eat here! Youll think your Bubbe is back in the kitchen sending out all your favorites!Start off with a nosh on the half sour and garlic pickles and Cole slaw. A snappy kosher hot dog and crispy knish is a must. But then again, you wouldnt want to miss your favorite kosher meats piled high between two slices of delectable rye.My husband cannot pass up the Pearl barley with mushrooms, the kishke, or the kasha varneshka. The crispy potato latkes are to die for and the matzo ball soup cant be beat. Some warm sweet noodle kugel for dessert wouldnt be too bad. Wash it all down with a Doctor Browns cream soda or celery tonic and call it a day! Bring a nice brisket platter or some goulash home for your folks at home, they could eat!
This is Brooklyn away from home. All the usuals including Dr. Browns Sodas. Friendly service. The Canarsie, soup and half a sandwich is a good choice for lunch. Egg barley is a good substitute for the French fries. A true find@ exit 52 off the LIE with a short detour up the Comack Road.
What can I say about Pastrami N Friends? Well it may be smaller compared to other kosher delis in Nassau County for instance but there’s nothing small about it! It’s not about chrome, glamor and the lighting that’s the rage. From the moment you walk in and take in that delicious smell of kosher deli you step into a restaurant reminiscent of another era. There’s a cozy feel that goes beyond Ernie and Ronnie’s greeting from behind the counter. It extends more importantly into the dining room to the delightful, engaging waitresses…wait staff is too impersonal for these caring, hardworking, highly efficient ever smiling women who for this single Mom of a sweet boy who lost both parents within recent years makes me feel like we are home…that we are family. It may sound like it’s from a Cheer’s opening, but there’s something special about having the waitresses two by the name of Paula and one Diane greet you warmly by name and ask questions based on conversations from a few weeks ago! When they ask if you want “the usual” as it mysteriously and quickly arrives at your table. The warm greetings they take the time to give you no matter how busy they are and the continued attention you receive during the course of your meal and the food make eating at Pastrami N Friends a wonderful dining experience you won’t soon forget! How do they remember the half sour pickles you prefer, the extra napkins you will need for your son, the 7 Ups in a can all arriving quickly and efficiently you wonder?Let’s talk about the food. It’s 100 % kosher, not kosher style as has become popular. I don’t always order the “usual” even if my son does. The tender corned beef is beyond delicious, it’s the best I’ve ever tasted, second to none! The chicken soup whether rice, noodle or matzo ball is delicious with bits of celery, carrots and chicken just like homemade without the fuss! From corned beef and pastrami sandwiches to the hot dogs and knishes everything is delicious including the pickles and cole slaw that is served at the beginning of the meal. Commack is lucky to have Pastrami N Friends in its midst. This single Mom and sweet boy are happy to go to a restaurant that is not only delicious but “where everyone knows your name”! I highly recommend it! DW

2021-12-18Everything about Pastrami N Friends is amazing!!! It has that authentic Kosher deli vibe that makes you feel at home. You must get their pastrami sandwich... it was delicious and juicy. The chicken matzah ball soup was flavorful. Even their burgers were great. The service is superb; our waitress was attentive and friendly. They are super nice behind the counter too! This was our first time dining here and we loved it so much!! Highly recommend this place and we cant wait to come back with family/friends!

2021-11-09Great Pastrami. Ordered as a little fatty and taste was great. Topped off with deli mustard and lunch was served. Great Pastrami is always a little pricey so if cost matters to you, then $20 for a sandwich, chips and a snapple might not be for you. For all else, no regrets.

2022-05-22Excellent staff. Ive known about this place for over 40 years. I asked today, they have been in business for 46 years. Food is always at the top of the game. Pastrami off the hook. They ask how you like it, lean or fatty. I prefer fatty, much juicier. Square kinish and bowl of matza ball soup and you wont be able to walk for a while.$27.00. Recently started getting pastrami and corn beef combo together on same sandwich. The corn beef cuts back a little on the salt taste that comes from the pastrami smoking process. There split pea soup is excellent. And it doesnt have ham hocks in it. I make mine with ham. But it really doesnt need it based on this. Not sure how they do it.

2022-03-31Going there for 30 years. Good food. Prices have gone up quite a bit, but, so have every one elses. The chicken is very good. Its always great for a knish and a hot dog. The pastrami cant be beat. I highly recommend Pastrami and Friends. Love the sports pics on the walls. Special place in Commack. During the height of the pandemic the line was outside and around but you know what, it was worth the wait. A big thumbs up to those guys.

2022-02-03Love love love this place! Reminiscent of an Old school Brooklyn Kosher Deli back in the day. Pastrami is delicious always very juicy! Franks have the Coney Island snap you look for and the pea soup rocks. I enjoy seeing the Homage to Brooklyn all around me.

2021-10-05Excellent !! Pastrami and Corned Beef were very tasty. They give you very good pickles and Cole slaw for the table when you sit down. The picture is of their deli case that has amazing kugel and other items.

2022-02-25What a rip-off. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and paid 15 dollars for it. Im totally disappointed. The sandwich was extremely light and not filling. It seemed like it was cold cut grade and not real deli pastrami. I will never patronize this deli again. Beware.

2019-01-15I thought the pastrami at Sarges Deli on 3rd in Manhattan was good. But not as good as this 40-year-old kosher deli in Commack. The rye bread held together well, the hot, thinly sliced pastrami... freshly made. The rye bread did not fall apart like at other delis. My cup of split pea soup was deeply satisfying, fully flavored; you dont see this on menus. My husbands chicken in a pot soup w/Matzoh Ball was a fully loaded chicken noodle soup, served piping hot & full of flavor that comes from days of simmering. We also enjoyed the potato pancakes with applesauce. Potato pancakes looked like fried bone-in chicken breasts. And the applesauce was homemade as well, not sickeningly sweet, but light & addictive. Definitely will come back. Not cheap but a nice customer behind me gave us a few coupons.
