Very yummy desserts but taking away a star because they dont allow customers to sit at the counter unless you order the prix fixe menu ($28). Usually there are lots of empty spots at the counter when Ive visited but little in the way of other seating. Kind of annoying and elitist. But good desserts!
This Desserts are mouth watering. From the moment you enter your whole soul melts away from how delicious it smells. Usually like to get the berry Tart, The Yussy Mousse and the Millie Creppe Cake slice. A bit pricey but every bite is worth every Penny. Friendly staff. Inside seating available and they also have coffee.
Patisserie Tomoko was recommended by friends who are really into French pastries and desserts. The decor is humble and narrow-spaced with a little messy arrangement. The available options are limited and various everyday. We planned to get the sesame ice cream but they ran out of it on that day. We ended up bringing home 2 pieces of Dacquoise and Tart Chestnut.Dacquoise is one of their signature products and it is amazingly delicious with soft and delicate texture. We love both yuzu and sesame flavors. The Tart Chestnut wasn’t our type, it wasn’t too sweet and bland.Their desserts are more like Japanese style instead of French, which is delicate and not too sweet with moderate size but higher price. Hope we can get their sesame ice cream next time.
Pastries 5/5Japanese always does it better! LOL! French pattiserie with asian flavours. DIVINE! Everything looks and tastes AMAZING!AmbianceVery nicely designed interior. Unfortunately, it’s take out only due to Covid. Some desserts aren’t available but still plenty to choose from the counter. No outdoor dining but a small bench outside the store.Service 5/5Friendly and quick. Everyone wearing masks and following covid protocolsTake a piece or 2, head to the park 2 mins away and enjoy away!
Absolutely love this patisserie. It’s a wonderful harmony of french dessert with the delicate touch of Japanese execution. Their super light/fluffy creams and custards are addictive. Not to mention the ice creams and the waffle cones. My all time favorite flavor is their rose&berry ice cream. Along with their beautifully made fruit tarts, Yuzu mousse, ice cream sundaes, milli crepe cakes, dacquoise cookies...basically...everything there is delicious!! My husband is a huge fruit tart fan and he rates this place as his #1 go to spot. Something to look forward to every day 😄
We arete walking around the area at night and this piece caught our attention. Cute decor with a round bar serving dessert and wine.Small menu with crafted choices - the desserts were a wonderful blend of Japanese and French styles. Loved the matcha and black sesame flavors.
Ive been coming to this place for the last 6 years, and everytime Im in the area, I always make a point to pass by and have a plateful of goodness. Tomoko, Daniel and the rest of the crew here always make you feel at home and the service is superb. Not to mention the top tier quality products they make and serve in this place. A place worth driving to coming from Staten Island!
Surprising good desert restaurant. I skipped lunch and just gone for dessert and I was full after the premium set. Super satisfied with the main course desert --it was black sesame creme brulee, chocolate souffle, white sesame blancomage or one other on that day. I ordered white sesame blancomege and I like it. But my girl friend ordered chocolate souffle and I love it! I will definitely go again. Next time I will probably just go with single item and not set. It was a little too much and the last dish (peti four) was a little disappointed.
The desserts were so good. Featured are the sakura mochi, berry tart, and chocolate banana tart. They do have a prix fixe menu that I want to try the next time I visit. Definitely worth a try!My one complaint is that out of the 4 groups of people at the bar my group was the only one not given water. We were the 2nd to sit.
Very happy I found this place! The owner used to be a main chef at Cha-an in East Village and she opened this cafe five years ago. No wonder, the quality of sweets at Cha-an decreased significantly about 5 years ago and I was sad. Anyways, this little cozy place provides lots of sweets options. For courses, they make the desserts upon an order so it’s very fresh.Oh wow, it tastes amazing and I’ve never finished sweets so fast! I’ll go back soon! Staff is super friendly too.
Magical. This beautiful bakery merged French patisserie and Japanese aesthetics and flavour with a Brooklyn vibe. We had the green tea millefeuille and the pumpkin dacquoise. Both were excellent in their taste and texture - not too sweet, rich flavours, and light cloud-like creaminess. It reflects the skill of the baker which if you had any doubt was on full view thank to the cool open kitchen in the center of an over counter resembling a sushi omakase. Highly recommended!
Zagats and Time Outs reviews are right. You must come and enjoy their craft and ambience. One of a kind. Complete enjoyment.Update: we have since gone back several times and introduced friends to this establishment. Last Saturday, after a very long but enjoyable day, we decided to stop by. The experience (food and service) was still as good as before. I felt restored after eating the delicious desserts and the oolong tea. I continue to recommend them highly.
Ive only tried takeout so far and the experience has been amazing. Definitely my favorite spot for French-Japanese pastries, compared with Patisserie Fouet and ChikaLicious. Dont miss the chocolate banana tart and the mille crepe (which will allow you to forget Lady M since).
The best dessert place in the city! People are so kind and friendly, and they treat their customers very carefully. Can’t believe the nice guy from the store called me to apologize about the wrong mochi flavor he gave me, and he offered refund or exchange options, I love all these mochi I got, thank you for doing that!It is not easy time for most of businesses, I will bring all my friends to the store for your signature three courses desserts after this period, before that, please stay safe and take care, we will support you as we always do.
Incredible pastry shop - feels like you are in Paris! Fine French pastry and Japanese with a twist! Earl Grey and Chocolate Mochi is perfect balance of fine rice cover and rich red bean filling with different flavors. The Mont Blanc with Chestnut cream is delicate and the crust was very tasty! The most elegant dessert was the Miele Crepe had delicate layers of crêpes and the the sumptuous flavors were excellently executed !The shop itself is beautiful and the service is excellent! The pastry chef is so talented and one can see her prepare these delicacies right under your eyes.Such great find in this neighborhood !
Cutest patisserie shop!!The decor is very whimsical minimalistic. The desserts are delicious! I ordered the green tea Mille crêpe, black sesame dacquoise, salted caramel nut tart and the black sesame ice cream (which is a favorite of mine!).All three desserts were excellent in flavor, texture and presentation. Price was worth it!
This is a nifty pastry spot with some cool deserts. We ordered a iced americano which was very tasty. The cup they put it in keeps the coffee nice and cold for awhile. Also had the black sesame creme brulee which tasted amazing. It comes with this sake vanilla ice cream that is fabulous. Seating is not by table. It is bar style seating where u can watch the pastry chefs making and prepare the food. We were treated nicely and had a great day here.
We ordered 3 pastries from them and all were so delicious.1. The kabocha pumpkin pie is so light and naturally sweet. I like the pie’s crust is light and airy. The filling was not too sweet. You can taste the natural sweetness from the kabocha.2. I highly recommend the chestnut mousse framboise. The shortbread cup with the almond cake later and the chestnut mousse is such an incredible combo. It’s also very light and not too sweet. Perfect type of dessert.3. I also highly recommend the chocolate Yuzu Mille feuille crepe cake. I was expecting the Yuzu to be prominent but it’s very light. The chocolate mousse is so delicious and the cake is more mousse than crepe. Also it’s not too sweet which is perfect.
Cute, relaxing ambiance. Bar seating only, cool to see the pastry chef assembling but not ideal for more than a party of 2 people. Got a cappuccino and a standard prix-fixe: Mont Blanc w/ Yuzu ice cream and sesame tuille and 3 bite-sized cookies. Lots of unique, japanese flavors with every bite, not too sweet. Knocking a star only cause its a bit pricey ($22 before tip) and service is a bit slow/inattentive. Would recommend.
(pre covid review)My favorite dessert place of all time. Ive been here maybe 4-5 times the past few years. Its a remarkable little dessert bar with beautiful ambiance. Ive been getting the pre-fixe dessert and my favorite part is the petit fours at the end. I always get a wide assortment and if I go with someone else, they make sure to have different ones for us to share. The staff is really sweet too and they always accommodate my questions of what x dessert is or how they make it. Its really exciting being behind the bar and watching them work!!!
What I love about Japanese treats is the subtlety of flavor, texture, and hints of sweetness that compliment the delicate flavors of red bean/matcha. This place on the other hand, is not that.Everything I ordered (cheese cake, matcha chunks, crepe cake) was like a diabetes sugar bomb. 1/3 of the sugar and it still would have been too sweet! So disappointing when you can hardly taste the ingredients. This place is less Japanese, more akin to the cannoli pastry shops that smell of sugar in the village.
I enjoy fine details of dessert shops. The Japanese have really excel in this area and a great alternative for the regular Italian pastries. Almost everything that can be homemade is homemade here, down to the waffle cone. The price can be on the more expensive side. Desserts are different and unique from what you usually get, but I think there is room for improvement. I have been here twice, trying out the prix fix and the regular dessert, i dont think I will return for a third. I appreciate and support local business but the price, taste and customer service does not warrant another return. The hojicha ice cream is delicious. The macron can be a little too sweet. The Prix fix was executed with care and many steps done in front of you, but it was not memorable . I do advise for those who have not been here to try to for themselves, however. What I like or may not like is probably different from you.
STILL IN LOVE - SECOND REVIEW:I cant say enough about how good it is. I wish I could write several reviews. They were out of the yuzu mousse when I was ordering and I didnt even care. Asked them to give me whatever they recommended. I hate chocolate. Hate. Wont eat. They gave me the chocolate yuzu mille crepe. Ive never had a mille crepe and I hate chocolate. I devoured it.Hi, yes I LOVE this place. The matcha creme brulee, the salted caramel tart, and the matcha dacquoise are all must tries. The fruit tart was average, but the crust was nice, light, and buttery. Im excited to try their seasonal/holiday desserts. The staff is friendly, and the actual place is very cool. I only just went the last time - prior had just ordered through postmates, which was when I knew I had found A Spot to love. Bunna Cafe is a 13 minute drive away, and the area is chock full of places to eat, so if you live and/or happen to be in the area, make sure you stop by after a nice cute meal or a quiet date night amongst desserts.
Good quality green tea tiramisu, but it was probably just taken out of the freezer you can feel that part of the cream is not yet back to room temperature, which is really disappointing. Got the puff as well. Pastry was good but the custard cream filling tastes weird. The filling is so simple to make, so it’s kinda weird that it tastes weird. Anyways, would be great if you only use the whipped cream
I ordered a green tea mille crepe, a yuzu cheesecake, and black sesame dacquois for delivery for a friend. Im told the desserts that arrived were absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the cheesecake was missing. I wasnt sure how to communicate on UberEats that an item had been missing, so in error posted a 1-star review on the Uber app. I wanted to make up for the low rating here to say that the desserts were excellent, and it is too bad that an item was missing.
Who doesnt like this place?! Everything is so yummy, right amount of sugar, very Japanese style of pastries with great twist like earl grey flavor, donuts covered with citrus glaze. And the staff is really nice - not over friendly but they are friendly and cool. You must try this place!
I was fairly impressed with the range of flavours found in the premium menu, and with how well they blended together. Maybe I got lucky, others are not so happy, but perhaps thats got to do with the ever-changing array of desserts. Id go back in a heart beat, despite the boring architecture and vibe of the area.
The cakes were not only phenomenally beautiful but delicate delightful flavor filled perfections. The matcha cheese cake is so full of great quality matcha, very luxurious tasting! It really takes my old friend cream cheese to soaring new heights. The strawberry shortcake is literally the best version of a strawberry shortcake Ive ever had. The chefs classical french training shines in these divine Japanese treats. Thank you Tomoko!!! Ill be back and back and back.
Got a birthday cake for my friend. Came back second time for their matcha roll cake and tiramisu. Definitely the best Japanese bakery around NYC so far. I would even say it’s one of the best in all bakeries and dessert places I have tried. Proper sweetness and flavorful. Cream in the roll cake does not give an oily, sticky aftertaste.
This cute Japanese pastry shop in Williamsburg is just the right touch. Perfect date couple spot as one as long as she eats like Hello Kitty and you filled her up before hand at dinner because here the desserts are daintily small but the bill is large. You’ll want to order a second helping just to try it again because it is that good.
This place left my gf beyond happy. It is like they had the perfect chestnut recipe for her and green tea sweets for me.Was a little bit of a trek out in Brooklyn to the point where Im not so sure I would have went if I wasnt already passing by, but it was really worth it.
I came here since I was in Williamsburg for brunch nearby. The place is far from the train and restaurants so theres not much foot traffic. When we came in on a Sunday afternoon, it was completely empty. We tried a couple desserts: black sesame tart and matcha creme brulee. The desserts were okay but they were pretty pricey for the small portion we got. You can get better and cheaper desserts at Takahachi Bakery in Manhattan.
1st Japanese French infused make-to-order dessert shop in Wiilliamsburg. Tomoko combines her French pastry training & creativity with her native Japanese ingredients like Black & White sesame, Chestnuts, Yuzu, Mat Cha, etc.Friendly & polite staff!! A great place to hangout for dessert & wine pairing!
Incredible quality and unique cakes, I can’t recommend this bakery enough. my partner and I were looking for a last minute birthday cake and ended up stopping in to check if they had any available to purchase immediately. we were lucky and got a yuzu dacquoise. they decorated it and had it ready for us in 10 minutes. it was a huge hit at our party, everyone was raving about how delicious it was. do yourself a favor and buy your cakes here!

2022-03-27The salty caramel nuts tart - crispy crust, almond paste, almond flakes, cashews, walnuts dipped with salty caramel sauce with whipped cream on top. It’s sweet but not overly sweetened. Would love to try out other desserts next time.

2022-04-03Got a couple desserts to go. This place has great selection of sweet treats, I tried the Yuzu mouse cake- I loved it. Green tea crème brûlée and pistachio macaron. All were very good. Can’t wait to come back and try something new. Cute spot for a little dessert date.

2022-03-08We had been looking forward to it since we pre-ordered the 6” yuzu mousse cake, but it didn’t turn out to meet our expectation. It had very little yuzu flavor. It was definitely not a mousse cake - it was more like a cream cake, almost an entire cake of cream and some sponge. To be fair, the cake looked so cute and the flavor was good, but just not how we thought a yuzu mousse cake should be.The bakery was a bit dark too when we picked up the cake. Friendly staff.

2022-06-13NO DINE IN. The yuzi mouse simply tastes bad. It tastes like pure whipped cream with artificial yuzi flavor. The matcha mile crepe was ok but not enough layers. Comparing it to LadyM, I’d probably go with LadyM. Also, we felt they were overpriced.

2021-09-12We were wowed by the cake. All 11 of us loved it and finished the whole cake in 10 mins. (Many of us had the second piece) Totally worth it!! They take time to serve you well so the wait can be long - give yourself enough time.

2021-08-29Super cute, lowkey Japanese desserts and cakes bakery. We just got the ice cream sundae, which was delicious. I wish they had some seating though, although maybe having no seating is a temporary situation for covid prevention.
