Overpriced. $23 dollars for some pasta in tasteless cream and some sad looking mushrooms.Terrible service. Dont expect to be served any bread with butter of olive oil. Servers, full of attitude. When I asked for it the first waitress just disappeared, the second one slammed a small bowl of old dry slices at our table.
After attempting to find something more central in Times Square, we headed back to the hotel instead for Pauls...and I am so glad we did. Chicken parm, lobster Mac and a pizza were all on point. Its hidden away but just as good as the bigger places and priced fairly. Would go again!
We were looking for a pre-theater spot in Midtown, and found this spot. It is located inside Hilton Garden Inn. You had to go down the hall to the elevator, and go up to “Paul’s on Time Square”.The inside was not as big as I expected it to be, but nice and cozy. It is kind of a mix of casual and semi-formal from the look of it.Their complimentary bread were sooo good, it disappeared within seconds! We asked for more, and they brought out twice as much for us. Yum!We ordered Calamari Fritti to share. Since one of us is not a fan of anything spicy, they also gave us regular marinara sauce too, thanks! They were plump and huge portion! We all enjoyed them! For main, we had Branzino Di Chile Piccata, Salmone Alla Cartoccio, and Capellini Ai Frutti Di Mare. Branzino was cooked perfectly, Salmon was packed with flavor, but it could’ve come with a bit more veggies… Seafood Pasta was a nice big portion, with a generous amount of seafood. Filling and satisfying.Since we all enjoyed our meal, we decided to get one dessert to share. We ordered Tartufo to share among the four of us. It was a big hit at the table, everyone enjoyed it!We had a nice dinner here. It was relaxing, never rushed yet everything came out in a timely manner. We had plenty of time to get to our Broadway show. The servers were really friendly and polite, we were very well taken care of. I say it is a bit on pricey side, but it is in midtown…
Oh my god what an amazing experience!! My best girlfriend and I went here for dinner on our first night in New York and I must say I was thoroughly impressed! Such a beautiful ambiance and location, and the service was phenomenal! They made me a hand crafted Cosmopolitan (for my Sex in the City crave) as well as provided outstanding dishes! The lovely waitress that served us was just amazing and made the experience that much better! I would highly recommend this location and really hope to visit again!
Was my first time here I had a $70 dollar credit and I wanted to use while I stayed at the hotel and honestly Everything was delicious 🤤Definitely recommend this place ♥️Everyone is helpful and friendly. We sat at the bar and had a nice view .It was a rainy day so staying inside the hotel for a nice dinner was perfect 👍🏽Follow me on IG: childofgodliz85
Restaurant is cozy and inviting. Servers were very attentive and responsive to our needs. Food was excellent. Antipasto plate and duck confit w truffle oil pizza were excellent. Veal and beef bolognese pasta and orchetti pasta w sausage and repeeni were excellent as well. Creme brulee was delicious. We used a groupon and added dessert and a bottle of wine to make it a to die for meal. I would recommend trying this place for a nice Italian meal.
The place is within a hotel but the atmosphere of it is pretty nice. I was very welcome dressed casual but only for a takeout, it looked pretty casual/upscale. I ordered a Penne Vodka with Salmon. I’d have to say it was worth the money. I was upset at first with the portion but it turned out pretty tasty.
I had a great time here! Fine dining at super reasonable prices. I did the prix fix menu option and chose the Ceasar salad, Follie di Melanzane, and the tiramisu. The star of the show was the main dish Follie di Melanzane. The presentation of the dish was awesome its literally a show. The dish comes and theres an eggplant sitting in the plate i wondered whats going on then the waiter released the piece de resistance a delicious eggplant based pasta dish I added shrimp. The service was excellent! After a long day of traveling the rough NY streets its nice to experience friendly professional wait and host staff.
The breakfast buffet is very nice with a chef there to make eggs and omelettes any way you want with nice variety of fresh vegetables, cheeses, and meats to go in or with the eggs. Fresh fruit, a waffle station, yoghurt, granola, an impressive selection of breads and pastries... basically if you cant find something you like , you havent looked hard enough because they have a whole lot of things and they are all done suprisingly well. Theres juice, coffee, tea and a extremely helpful wait staff. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast, next time Ill try dinner 😃
Just passing by and wife said pop in for a quick pint best decision of the day food was tasty and the beer was great also the price is very reasonable considering its location beside time square special mention to the staff who are a credit to the Hilton brand well certainly be back.
The food was so bad especially for the price. I ordered a chicken parm and the linguine they put my chicken on tasted like it was out of a can. The food was cold. My chicken was burnt. My girlfriends calamari was like rubber. This restaurant is absolutely nothing like it perceives itself online. My girlfriend and I took a trip into the city for the day and we thought a nice Italian place “overlooking Time Square” would be a great place to eat. Calling this place “overlooking Time Square” would be equivalent to saying it was ran by Gordon Ramsey, it just flat out wasn’t. My girlfriend and I sat down and immediately knew this was nothing like we thought it’d be by our candle and flowers on the table complemented by dubstep and clubbing music playing in the background. This place is overpriced, nothing like its advertised, and needs an entire new kitchen staff to even deserve a single star. Absolutely horrible experience 0/10.
Great dinner experience. Couldnt find it until I called and found out it was on the lobby level in hotel. Staff were great, food was good quality. They offered off menu pepperoni pizza for one of the kids.Really enjoyed the experience, not too loud and feels really comfortable at Pauls. My server from Montenegro was a hit with the kids.
Went here on a whim, and was absolutely delighted! Staff is friendly and very attentive, and the decor is simple but classic. We had the calimari to start, which was tasty with a great spicy marinara dip. I had the Tuscan stew, and it was stuffed full of perfectly cooked seafood in a delicious broth. My boyfriend had the lamb shank, and it was falling off the bone tender with a great gravy. A great experience!
Two adults and two kids with a Groupon deal for appetizers and pasta dishes. The food was incredible. We all enjoyed our meals. The waiter was funny and pleasant. He was very attentive. Im only giving it three stars because the tip was included in our check at 40%. Yes, you read that right, 40%! He was good but he wasnt THAT good! We didnt argue we just paid it but I wont be too eager to go back.
Ill preface with the fact that I work in Times Square so have had a lot of dining experiences in the area. I dont have high expectations from a hotel restaurant but the whole experience was quite underwhelming. The Menu was Hard to follow and was worn. I was there with a party of 11. I had the linguine and clams dish, it was in a white wine sauce that had very little flavor. I know that service for a large party will take longer but it took us about 45 minutes to get food and still one person did not get there food for another 5 minutes. If you are in New York, a city that has a great food selection, I would not go here to have a good food experience.
Went for a family dinner, and was blown away by how warm and friendly the staff was, and by how kid friendly the menu and service was. Everything was delicious, but the fig and prosciutto pizza and the squid ink pasta were my favorite dishes. Being so close to time square I figured dinner for 6 would break the bank, but prices for 6 entrees, 3 appetizers, and cocktails was really quite reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
This restaurant is IN a hotel. NOT easily visible. The elevator has a sign to tell you which floor to get off at. Service was slow and needed prodding, as we had a time crunch to catch our 8pm show. However, the food was good and it was quiet in there. We had a Groupon.
A real Italian restaurant in New York! The location is really luxurious, and prices too (16 dollars for a cocktail) but the food and service is adequate to the cost. I took a pizza and a pasta: I was incredulous, the pizza with Prague ham and rocket salad was spectacular, (maybe too sweet for the abundance of fig jam) and the black linguine with shrimps and basil was one of the best pasta dishes ever eaten in my whole life! And I am ITALIAN! The restaurant is located nearby times square so it is easy to reach from a lot of subways stations. Its recommended to book in advance.
Good customer service, only. But the food is disgusting and dont do justice to the price. Very expensive for the quality, quantity, and taste. The menu had little options. It seems like they dont know what Italian food and pizza is. Save your money and time and go to Olive Garden instead.
Went here for the restaurant opening and was pretty impressed. The restaurant is in the Hilton Garden Inn and is open concept from the time you step off the elevator. We sampled a lot of the appetizer options, but the pizzas we had are actually on the menu, which were exceptional. The chef was carving up salmon, which was perfectly cooked. The space also has a terrace, which is not easy to come by in the Times Square area. The interior is brand new and has a warm and inviting feel to it, which is probably in part to the welcoming staff. I could see this as a perfect space for a work happy hour, holiday party or a family dinner before or after the theater.
Service is good (90/100), small place with not many waiter/waitress. Everything ran out good but not sure if thats because we were the very first table for dinner. We used the groupon deal for 4, and we got 3 diff pizzas 1 salad with 4pastas. All those taste good to us, and we had no room for dessert. The reason I took 1 star is the 20% sercharge is automatically added in the middle of the bill(easy to miss), which isnt stated anywhere even on groupon page, and thats a little bit surprising. If thats ok for you, Id like to recommend it.
Ive had much better Italian meals in New York at a much lower price. The food and service were good, but certainly not worth as much as they are asking. The only reason I would come back is if I had another Groupon. Very good value with the Groupon, not so great value if you dont have one.Ravioli was so-so, pasta with bolognese sauce was pretty good. Really liked the pizza.
Charging $30+ per entree for incredibly small portions and lackluster food. The service was poor. And they have everyone from the nearby hotel lobby walk right through the middle of the restaurant to use the bathroom like it’s a public restroom. When I went to use the bathroom it was actually impressively disgusting. Will not return.
Wonderful staff with very good patience towards some of our friends. The food was amazing, the drinks were superb and the atmosphere was divine!! The server was on top of everything and continually checked in on us through out our dinner. If I ever return to NYC Ill be eating mostly here than anywhere else!
My wife and I stayed at the hotel and spent some time each day of our visit having dinner, getting something light to eat in the evening, or having drinks at Pauls. We loved the atmosphere and the staff was great. The head bartender went out of his way, more than once, to make our visit to New York a pleasant one. The food was also very good and we will definitely return to Pauls when we visit New York again.
First time eating at Pauls for restaurant week. I would have to say that the quality of food was great, but it tasted mediocre. My boyfriend asked about the beers on draft and the waitress said the pump at the bar is broken so theres no beer, but any other drinks are available. Im thinking if you own a bar and have happy hour prices, you should probably fix the pump as soon as possible because a lot of people are going to ask for beer! But anyway...The appetizers we ordered were mussels and fried calamari. These were okay. Didnt taste like anything special. For our entrees, we had the salmon penne vodka. The salmon was cooked perfectly! However, the penne could have been softer and the sauce became a little overwhelming. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. The chocolate mousse was a little too sweet for my palette. My boyfriend said the tiramisu was pretty good though.Wait staff were kind of slow. Although we got our food pretty quickly, it took a while to flag down the waitress for our check. Not sure if well come back as it wasnt anything too special, but thank you for restaurant week deals!
We got the Groupon deal which for $45 is two aps, and two PASTA entrees. Just a note that this place was not very easy to find. We knew it was at the Hilton Garden Inn but you walk in and there is no signage and you are just left to figure out where to go. We went to the lobby floor and got directed there but that can be confusing for guests. We did have a reservation and were promptly seated. I personally did not like the seating. We were just inches away from another couple on both sides of us, there really wasnt any elbow room. The biggest reason that I gave this restaurant two stars was the service. Our server came over to take our order and that was literally the only time we saw her. No one came over to ask us if we needed anything else, ask how everything was, etc. I had to flag down a bus boy to get our check. I think she knew that we were using a Groupon, but then again, I saw the people next to us ( in both directions - using the same promo ) When she came back with the bill looking for a 15% min tip I was rather surprised. ( that would have been about $15, which I think is a healthy tip for just taking someones order )The food itself was ok. The bolganese pasta I ordered was way over salted and the calamari usually has two dipping sauces and just came with a marinara sauce and was a little rubbery.Overall I think it could have been a nicer meal if we were seated elsewhere and had a better server.
Okay...full disclosure:1. Today I took my friend (who I secretly like) to PAUL’S ON TIMES SQUARE. I’m a guy, and she’s a girl.2. She told me she never does anything like Groupon. So I was nervous right off the bat.3. I was late (my bad), and so she had to wait outside the Hilton for about 20 minutes. She texted me saying “,Why are we eating in a hotel on 42nd Street?!” I answered “,Because it has over 4000 reviews online with about a 4.5 star average!”4. I finally got there...and we took the elevator up to the restaurant. As we were escorted to our table she whispered “,Hmmm, nice place!” (It has large windows with lovely views, perfectly cut fresh flowers on every table, crisp white linen table cloths, etc).5. Our waitress was named Grace, and she is amazing! She patiently explained the menu, and how our Groupon works. She is well spoken with a lovely accent, beautiful, and made us both feel very much at home!6. With our Groupon we each got to select our choice of a salad, appetizer, or fresh made pizza. Then we also each got to select an entree from the nice pasta list. My date chose a Maragrita Pizza, and I chose a fresh sliced tomatoes and homemade mozzarella cheese salad. Both were amazing looking and even better tasting. My date was shocked at how perfectly the pizza was prepared...served piping hot and I tell you what—pizza doesn’t get any better! For our pastas she selected the homemade pasta with mushrooms and truffles in a light cream sauce...and I chose the seafood over pasta in a red sauce. Man, mine was off the charts good. A lot of fresh seafood...cooked perfectly...a delicious tomato sauce with just a touch of heat. Her pasta dish was delicious, too.7. Grace, our waitress, was attentive and kind the entire meal- making sure we were pleased and had everything we needed.Loved this experience! My date just texted me and said “,Wow! Who knew you can get amazing pizza in a hotel in Times Square!” That about says it all.Thank you to Grace, and also the chef-and by all means go and enjoy a meal at PAUL’S!
The appetizers - the mussels and the artichoke salad were excellent. The pasta dishes of pasta bolognese and eggplant with rigatoni were delicious. The Malbec was the perfect companion wine chosen by the waitress. The service, food and outdoor seating were simply fantastic.
Food is DELICIOUS!! Unbelievable value through Groupon, near Times Square, I honestly cant say 1 bad thing! Service was friendly & ON POINT- Happy hour has great specials like $20 pitcher of Sangria that has REAL fruit pieces; 89yr old, 36yr old,& 9yr old dining w/absolutely no complaints- thats saying alot for my grumpy g-pa & my pre-teen!!! lol
We went to Pauls restaurant on 42nd St. inside the Hilton Garden Inn on the 4th floor right off Broadway to the east. It was the best!!! The prices were reasonable, the service great! I know the owner, Dino, has several restaurants in NYC and Im sure all of them are terrific. He takes pride in his restaurants. You will not be disappointed in this restaurant. Yes, there are no signs when you enter the hotel, just take the elevator to the 4th floor, its marked HL. The restaurant and bar are right there. Oh, I forgot the desserts!!! To die for!!! Order the one that has several desserts in the little cups.
For the prices youd think youd get good service and clean bathrooms, but that was not so. The bathroom floor was so dirty it was black and the only time the waitress came around semi-frequently was because she wanted to close out the check. Horrible. But the food was good.

2022-07-21Had caprese salad for an appetizer which was very tasty. Had a couple drinks from the bar which were also pretty decent. For the main courses we had chicken parmesan and lobster ravioli. Both came to the table very hot and well presented.

2022-07-03Lobster ravioli with vodka sauce was good. Mushroom pappardelle was bland. Also ordered the calamari which was the best part of the meal. Bill ended up being $100 before tip, which is overpriced! Never saw the receipt, so unsure if that was correct.

2022-03-06The food was good but not for the high prices. Everything was ala carte and Pauls didnt offer a childrens menu. I know thats fairly basic for New York but as someone who travels with children, a kids menu and clean bathrooms is a must and they didnt have either.

2022-08-12I wish service had been better as I can’t really comment on the food. I was only able to order fried calamari as the bartender did not ask if I wanted to order anything else. She was more focused on other tasks. I even had to ask for water and then it never Got refilled. Also website promotes happy hour so ordered the calamari and still got charged full price instead of the $12. If looking for a spot near theatres there are much better Italian spots to go to

2022-08-03Had dinner here on a Tuesday night. Ordered the chicken parmigian. Chicken was a bit rubbery and the pasta was way overcooked. Sauce was from a jar and bland. Got the cheesecake for dessert, was OK but could tell it wasnt made on site.

2022-03-26Just delightful ambience and the staff was so attentive anf friendly. The food was served hot and very much on time; it was also absolutely delicious. We were attending a concert at the Beacon Theater and the staff at Pauls did a great job of serving us two courses and a bottle of wine so that we were in and out within an hour. Plus they gave us a complimentary slice of New York-style cheesecake with fresh berries. So good! Really want to go again when we have more time.

2022-04-05I usually do not like hotels attached to restaurants but this turned out to be a nice surprise. Wanted a light dinner before the theater and this was a great choice. Had a delicious arugula salad with walnuts, cranberries and goat cheese followed by a margherita pizza. The service was fast and the the room was not so loud so you could actually hear your dinner companion. I never give 5 stars but this was definitely 4 plus!

2022-04-27Fantastic host staff. In fact, every member of the staff is very professional and very friendly. When they are busy, the service can get hit or miss in terms of being left alone. Prices are high...even for New York and even for Times Square... probably too high. Excellent wine and spirits selection. Food is amazingly good.

2022-08-25Had dinner here whilst visiting New York City a few days ago and were served by Tony. The food was great the service was absolutely outstanding. Tonys customer service level is the bar all other customer service attendants should be aiming for. Would definitely come back to this place.
