Arrived to a busy staff filling orders and yet they had time to look up and greet me immediately! How lovely. Then another member quickly took my order. Two subs. One hot, one cold. Even with all the hubbub and multiple customers, I was in and out very quickly. Staff always friendly, accommodating and courteous. Definitely recommend Pellegrino Imports of Malta.
This place claims to be authentic Italian, but it’s DEFINITELY not! They just buy some items that make them seem Italian. They don’t even know what sundried tomatoes are. I asked for balsamic glaze on chicken cutlet with mozzarella. I got balsamic vinegar on a sloppy expensive 6 inch. When I asked about why there was no balsamic glaze, they said what’s that? I know there are next to no options in the area, but I’d rather pass on this place. Gave them 2 starts because they have some Italian items/cold cuts but just not worth going.Girl behind the counter has a funky attitude because I said, “you don’t know what sundried tomatoes are? I thought this was an Italian deli.” I didn’t say it with attitude, just said it with shock. Don’t claim to be something you’re not and lose the attitude. At least the gentleman behind the counter was nice and said he was Irish, so that’s why he didn’t know. I laughed, he smiled and I ordered something different. But his kindness just wasn’t enough to overcome the horrible sandwhich.
Unpleasant guy at the cash register. Small portions of the hot food (especially for the price) as noted in other reviews. The regular cold sandwiches were ok but the bread was dry and tasteless, that is totally unacceptable for a place that claims genuine Italian food. This place is no Cardonas of Albany which routinely uses excellent crusty bread and has much more reasonable prices. Pellegrino is also not as good as Romas in Latham and Saratoga (which also has grouchy staff at times) but better bread for their sandwiches. With Cardonas buying Romas we can hope they bring their quality to Romas. That means Pellegrino really needs to up their game and reconsider their insane prices.
I love this place! Their food always tastes great and super fresh! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I love their frozen items I can buy and cook at home for later like ~lobster ravioli~ ! I also love their subs for lunch. They do also serve hot meals and even have an ice cream stand outside in the summer months. Their outside area is peaceful and very pleasant, highly recommended!
Pellegrino is the only place we will go to for cold cuts. They are always fresh, and sliced perfectly. The subs are fantastic. I recently purchased their marinara and meatballs for an easy dinner, to have a good dinner on a busy night. I am beyond impressed, with both the sauce and meatballs being perfection! Highly recommend!
Great place to grab a sandwich, or quick lunch to go in the winter. In the summer, they have outside seating and ice cream service! The sandwiches here are larger than they advertise, and they will make it anyway you like with great fresh ingredients. I have also had the owners put together all the fixings for a full blown dinner that I finish cooking at home. Wonderful home made Italian food for less than half of a restaurants price! I have never been disappointed here.
Would of loved to try them, however there advertised as local delivery available and I manage a facility a block away. when I called the girl told me they only deliver to business and if the order is big enough! So I said well I’m right down the street and it is a business but it was just a personal order. As a manager of a company in Malta I would expect more as a neighboring business. Can’t say I will recommend.
I had the meatball sub. The meatballs were very tasty on their own. Just amazing. Juicy and flavor packed. The first bite wakes up your taste senses that were sleeping before. The sub includes amazing tomato sauce, also made on site. I tried it with the melted mozzarella cheese, and it was very good. Next time, I will get it with just the meatballs and tomato sauce to really focus on those flavors (like enjoying really great coffee without adding sugar or milk, to focus on the coffee).I also tried the daily soup. It was also very good and had the spicy sausage, onions, pasta, and spices (it went too fast to really look in there).Just a note, when it gets warm again, there is nice seating outside underneath tall pine trees. Being so close to Adirondack park and its clean air, its nice to be outside.
Absolutely wonderful deli with the BEST Italian mix and wonderful friendly staff. I recommend pellegrino to everyone in the area! They also have an outdoor seating area with an ice cream window and a little playground in the back. Thank you for running such a great shop!
This is by far my favorite place to grab lunch in the Malta area. As good as the catered food looks, I cant speak to it because Im addicted to their subs! It seems to be a small, family run spot that gets you in and out quickly with a smile. They suggest calling ahead for hot food orders.
Stopped at my sons when visiting in round lake and decided to get subs for dinner. Download their PDF menu so we could figure out what we wanted.Everybody ordered something different and when I called it in - they asked for a persons name to write on each sub so we did not have to open each one to see who was whos. Subs were incredible. After talking to one of the guys there he said their meatball sub is their best and insisted I tried a meatball and sauce before I left. No meatballs were hot so he brought me out an Italian sausage on a plate with sauce . . . . The Best!I normally make my own meatballs and sauce and reluctant to try others but this was Yummy😋😋😋!!
Today was the worst sandwich I ever had . Couldnt even finish it. Asked for no lettuce and mine as well have asked for extra . They dont clean the boards after each sandwich so you are eating whatever the person before you had. Roll was stale meat was dry mayo had no taste. Just horrible...... Ive had sandwiches from here in the past and it seems each time you return the worst they get.
Friday July 13 before attending the Dave Matthews concert I order a 6” sausage sandwich for pickup. Carmella I’m told is an owner and handled my order. I asked fir the sandwich to be made as described on there menu. I picked my sandwich up took it to the concert to have as my dinner and it was dry as a bone no sauce at all on thick bread. I was so disappointed as I rarely eat sandwiches. On Monday I confronted “Carmella” and she told me the owner wasn’t there and looked at me with a smile apologizing not offering to compensate me at all which us what I was aiming for ! After all in customer service my self , I strive to have my clients always be satisfied. Plenty of sandwich makers in the area. I left my name and # and pellegrinos if you don not contact t me about this matter wich I’m obviously pissued about you lose a customer. ☹️
Cold cuts are stale and completely dried out after a day because they wrap them in wax paper. Wax paper has stains all over where the grease soaked through. Too bad because the food is good. Only worth going though if youre going to eat it right away. If you need cold cuts for the week you might as well put your money through a paper shredder. If a deli cant even figure out how to wrap cold cuts so they dont go stale then why even go there.
For the first time I ordered food for Christmas dinner. We had meatballs, chicken parm, chicken marsala, pasta with broccoli, oven roasted potatoes and salad. Everything was amazing! Not only was the food great, but we were given a cell phone number to call if we had any questions. On Christmas Day! Who does that? I will be a frequent customer from now on.

2022-03-29Generous servings and high quality ingredients. The cold subs are excellent. The 6 inch is technically about 10 inches! The bread they use is awesome. Very fresh, and you can taste it. The owner of my company treated us the other day to lunch and he said this place was awesome. He was correct. I would eat here again in a heartbeat. Kind of meh places in Malta, this isnt one of them. A bit busy at lunch but if you go a few minutes early not too bad, and definitely worth the wait! They have amazing cookies and snacks inside as well!

2021-07-02Like being on arthur avenue. Great Italian sub. Kids ate the meatball (always a miracle). More baked goods and candy than I was expecting, made in house. Also have pastosa ravioli, that stuff is great if you have never tried it. Ice cream shop up front too. A lot in a little shop. Great service.

2022-06-11Sandwichs are excellent, people making them are very nice. The older gentleman at the register (owner?) Needs to chill, he gets annoyed easily. However dont let this stop you from ordering from here.

2022-04-30Friendly staff ( especially Kevin and Steve at the counter), perfect subs using Boars Head products and their own sub rolls, and massive salads (Greek, antipasto, Cesare, Pelleginos, etc.). I think their dressings are all homemade. They have a decent selection of imports and cookies, and even a freezer dedicated to gluten free pasta mains. Call ahead and place your order during the busy lunch hour(12-1:30pm) and you wont have much of a wait to pick up and pay. Also check them out for your catering needs - their lemon chicken is fantastic!

2022-03-04I had to try this spot 3 times before I gave my opinion, and Im confident this is the best deli in Saratoga county. A real old school Italian joint, loads their subs up with plenty of meat, and the prices are very good for what you get. They earned my repeat business 100%

2022-02-02Upstate NY is known for many things, but one to be ashamed of is a lack of delis.Pellegrinos has been fighting that upstate reputation by providing an amazing Italian deli experience. They get a good deal of imported products on top of all boars head meats and cheeses. The quality of bread is quite good as well. Their hot sandwiches are pretty great, and its the go to deli from Troy to Saratoga.
