I had my car serviced here for an oil change and free tire rotation. You can schedule an appointment online, which applies any online coupons as well. The service was convenient and they served free coffee! Although it took a little longer than I would have expected, everyone was friendly and looked like they were working hard. I would get my car serviced here again!
Tom was very helpful when I needed it most. He got me in that same day even though it was late afternoon the day before a holiday. Everyone at 1795 Central Ave location has always been friendly, helpful and professional. I started going there because it was close to home. I keep going there because they are the best.
For a chain repair place theyre very good. They set my car right and didnt try to talk me into anything extra and when they did find a problem they took me out to my car to show me. Place the location is convenient for prework drop offs. Not a bad place to get your car fixed.
It has been a long time since I went to a pep boys and these boys did not disappoint! So friendly and worked hard wile working on my car! Fast service and I even decided last Minute to get an inspection and they said it was no problem!!! Deff will be back here to get an oil change!
I went in for replacement on 2 of my tires. I spoke with 3 different employees between calling in to check their stock, to booking the appointment, and then showing up during the actual appointment. All 3 people I spoke with her incredibly helpful and kind. No bs at all or pushy sales tactics. Tom was especially helpful during my appointment! He really went above and beyond with his customer service skills and helped me understand everything, breaking things down so I could understand and make decisions knowledgeably. I came here just from a Google search on tires on a whim, but I struck gold here! Will continue to bring my car here for oil changes, tires, and inspections. Keep up the great work!
Went in because my car was making odd noises, talked to a man named Mike who was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure my car was up to snuff but made sure to notify me of things that they’d normally do that my car frankly didn’t need and it saved me hundreds, if I could give them a 15/5 I would, 100% recommend for anyone who needs their car worked on
They attempted to overcharge me by at least 40%. They told me I needed parts I did not need. They also told me I needed services that I did not need. I have been a loyal customer for five years and have always trusted Gene. He was not in today. And the service I received was horrible.
Pep boys speed shop is the only parts store that carries after market real performance parts, unlike all of the other ones that sell cheap garbage fake performance parts. which is really convenient when i dont have time to order parts online, and need them right away.
Wish i could give more stars needs to be a 10/10 that being said the staff at 1795 central Ave are phenomenal especially a gentleman named GENE! I bought a set of tires from this location on Feb 23rd well 3 days ago i had something puncture 1 of my tires i called to find out what my options were and learned i declined the road hazard warranty (My Fault) without missing a beat gene. Set a appointment for me this morning Saturday 5/29/21 and said we will get you back on the road again! Well he is a man of his word just got home from there and a replacement tire that should of cost me around $200 everything included i received for a fraction of the cost i will 100% be giving gene and the folks this location my business from now on not because he did me a solid today but because he was a man of his word very trust worthy honest and passionate about the work he does to help others! The Service Manager, Gene, will take care of you! Some time ago, I purchased a set of tires from a Pepboys in San Diego. Prior to the end of their anticipated life, I had noticed loud road noise and a harsh vibration coming up through the steering wheel. I contacted corporate and the location I purchased them from. Unfortunately, I was repeatedly told that these tires could do that and I was in need of new tires. Upon inspection at a different location, I was told I needed tires and brakes. I am glad I took them in to see Gene. He walked out to my truck and showed me the tires and exactly why I was experiencing the aforementioned symptoms. He measured the treads of all four tires and pointed out that I had a fair amount of tread life remaining. The issues I had been experiencing were largely going to be an inconvenience rather than the mandatory replacement I was told would be required elsewhere. I went there planning to spend $1,700 and left spending nothing. Rather than talk me into an expensive fix, Gene carefully informed me of the problem and my options in dealing with it. I opted to deal with a little noise and get my moneys worth out of the tires and brakes. I will absolutely be returning to this location for all future work.
Appt made weeks prior to arrival for NYS Inspection. Waited 2 hours in a nasty waiting room with flys and fruit flies all over. Staff was NOT wearing masks as indicated on the website. After 2 hour wait, I was informed brakes were needed, parts were not at location and another waiting period over 1 hour until car was returned. Unacceptable. 4 hours wasted... not happy with this location at all.
Made a service call as I am a new vehicle owner to have my breaks checked out because I was experiencing some shaking every time I hit iver 40mph and honestly was freaking the absolute frick out lmaoAnyway I called to make a appointment and talked to a guy, I think his name was Michael? Regardless he told me the issue was there was likely compacted snow around my tires, low and behold it was. I still made the appointment to get my breaks checked and he was really sweet, awkward, but a nice guy, great cs attitude.
While driving home from out of town our tire light went on in the Lincoln SUV we bought a week prior. My husband realized it was plugged in an area it should not have been. We called Pep Boys and spoke to Tom. We explained the situation and he was able to get us right in. Tom was so friendly, professional and accommodating. He even gave us his cell phone when we were talking about extended warranties because he has contacts in the business that could help us choose the best plan. Thank you Tom!
Service here is terrible. Scheduled a 10am appointment, then told us when we got there (my roomate and I), that we didnt have an appointment because we mentioned that we were dropping a car off instead of waiting in store.They waited three hours to even touch the vehicle after dropping it off at our appointment time, and took another 4 to fix it. I just wanted a hose replaced to stop a leak, and they refused the appointment and wasted my entire saturday.Terrible, terrible service. Im disgusted to have supported this business for as long as I did.
The service area people are very good. Their prices are decent when it comes to Servicing. Buying parts off of them in the shop is somewhat different. Their prices are high for certain things more so than other auto stores but the service area is much better than most places.
I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment I received at this location. I brought my car in for an inspection. When I looked over the paperwork in the parking lot, I noticed that my mileage reported to the DMV was 3.5 times the actual amount. I went back in and asked for a correction. I was told that it was just their computer that was incorrect, not the mileage reported to the DMV. The service managers response was dripping with misogyny and he flat out refused to correct their mistake. My husband had to leave work to bring the car in to have the matter rectified. Of course, when he walked in, the service department was more than happy to help him.
AVOID THIS SHOP! If you like having your NYS Inspection fail due to rotors are 50% rusty and itll be $600 for a full brake job...then definitely go here lol. Bill in Service dept. is a DB and enjoys failing your inspection but then is thrilled to tell you how many of hundreds of dollars they can fix it for. Problem this time is I do my own brakes...everything they told me was untrue. I checked my rotors and they were fine. Pads had PLENTY of life left. Good Bye forever Pep Boys...going to the family owned local shops from here on out.
I was here with a work related vehicle some time ago. I wish I wrote this review then because I would have included exactly what happened. But all I remember is they were trying to rip people off. I went in needing a headlight replaced and they tried telling me [they] cant let me leave with the car in that condition, as I apparently needed new breaks and new tires and once they started doing the work they couldnt let me leave.My two problems with that are:1) This was a company vehicle that just had work done not that long ago. I know this because I was the one who brought it and picked it up. I read the report of what was done and what recommendations were made and, needless to say, I know for a fact it didnt need breaks. Could it have used new tires, maybe, but considering the work the vehicle was doing (average speed topped a whopping 7mph), there was still plenty of tread and no bulging.2) Dont threaten to call the police on me when my boss refused to pay for work that wasnt asked for. While I cant remember exactly what was done here, hence why I wish I did this earlier, there was a heated debate between the store, myself and my boss about unauthorized work that almost lead to the police being called.Needless to say, I havent been back nor will I ever be back.
This location may be worth another look. Im seeing some negative reviews, but my last three visits to the 1795 Central Ave. location have been exemplary. The staff was more than pleasant and extremely helpful. I have some mobility issues and they were very accommodating. In March I had a minor accident, which couldve been extremely serious when the brakes on my vehicle went out. I called them in a panic and they said it was close to closing time but since I was nearby to bring it in and they will take a look at it. I was welcomed by a new associate, Who was still getting the hang of the front desk in the service area, but was extremely nice, and knew that I was coming in. He asked for help when he needed it and took good care of me. Jeff who seemed to be in charge of the service desk at the time, directed one of the mechanics to take my car in immediately and pull the wheels and find out what was wrong. He returned in just a couple minutes and told me that he understood now on my brakes did not stop my vehicle. I was like, I know youre getting close to closing time but are you going to be able to help me out? I really dont want to drive on these brakes. He said, let me make sure I have the parts. He did. He then said I dont want you driving on these brakes, its not safe. Were going to take care of this for you. He directed mechanic to pull the parts and to get to work on my vehicle. This meant that he and mechanic would have to stay few extra minutes. They did it happily and really seemed pleased to be able to help me out. Maybe people only takes a time when they have a negative experience and thats why there are other condescending reviews. Maybe the shop has bumped up their game! But my three experiences at that location have been very positive and they really went out of their way for me. I am course was relieved to be leaving with working breaks, and not have to worry about another accident. Thank you guys very much, and just so you know I put in a good word with your manager on my way out!
I actually travel a little further to get to this particular location because the staff there has always been absolutely professional and the work product has always been amazing.I go to see Mohamad in their tire center. This guy goes the extra mile to take every detail into consideration when ballon saying or servicing your tires. Great team great work no BS
A++ service. My alternator went up at a red light and they had a technician wait for my tow truck and made room for us immediately when we arrived. The techs were very friendly and they even hooked me up with a new alternator at the price of a refurbished one. Once my technician came inside to the waiting area i asked if it would be another hour but it was already finished! Amazing speed, amazing service, and they knew how to turn my day around after a pretty agonizing hour. Would 100% go back again.
I will never get a service done for a car there ever again. I went to get a wheel alignment done on my vehicle since I got four new tires put in it on Wednesday November 25,2015. I did not feel like i need it an alignment because there was no signs that my vehicle need one it was driving just fine but since I got new tires I figured I get one done. They did the wheel alignment. When I got in my vehicle and test drove it, now all the sudden the car is shaking when I reached 40 miles/per hour, the steering wheel was crooked when driving straight, and my car was pulling to the left. So I called the store told them the situation they told me to bring it back on Black Friday the 27th since they were close for Thanksgiving. The person I spoke to made me an appointment for 12 in the afternoon. On Friday I get there at 11:55 told the representative there I had an appointment at 12 to recheck my alignment. They said fine took my keys and said will be right on it (car). I waited patiently for my car to even get into the garage. Hours passed my car still wasnt being looked at. At 2pm I looked outside and in the garage my car wasnt there. So I go to a representative and asked them where my car was and Bill the Service Advisor said the mechanic is test driving it to see what is wrong with it. At this point I was really disappointed with the service I had received. First I had an appointment at 12pm which means thats the time to come in so they could look at your car and it was 2pm when they first took a look at it and second they took my car out for a test drive without consulting me and without my permission. To make this story about my horrible experience at PEP BOYS short. When I got my car around 2:30pm to finish off the horrible experience my steering wheel cover which is a cream color and made of cotton was stained with grease from the mechanics hand who test drove it. I am really dissatisfied with the customer service I received and Im still not 100% satisfied with the wheel alignment I received. Never will go back. Thank You.
I recently changed my tires got 4 brand new tires, balanced, and aligned. Within a few months one of the back tires started busting at the seams and leaking air. I took it back to pep boys, they then go on telling me that in order to replace the busted back tire they have to replace both as they cant let me leave the store with a car tire in that condition or driving. ONE TIRE WAS BUSTED NOT BOTH SO WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE BOTH!!!. I have warranty on the tires. But becuase they held my car hostage I had to pay to get the both tires replaced. Walked away with a $200 bill for tires I have warranty on and brand new. A few months passed and now my front tries are leaking air at the seams. Never buying products from pep boy again. Im now in almost $800 with tires leaking air and being charged constantly for replacement
Manager Dan took care of our problem very professional. Would give it a higher rating but the cashier flat out told us that we couldnt use a rewards card on the store side only said it was for service stated the store is separate from service. Told cashier we were using credit card and never told use that the register we were on did not take credit cards and after Dan rang up all our products and fixed the rewards problem I gave him the credit card and Dan was under the impression that we were told they did not use credit cards at the register so luckily we had cash to cover the bill of Dan would have had to void everything out and re ring the products at another register.
The work done was good and the pricing reasonable. however I was told about 30minutes for an inspection that took about 45min. not too awful, then told two tires and an alignment would be 30-60min and it took 2hours. I got there at 10 and didnt leave until 12:45. I had a toddler and an infant with me. had I known it would be 2 hours I wouldve chosen to get that done another day or time when I didnt have the kids with me.
PepBoys is a great place , I have all of my cars services done at 1795 central Ave., location. The guys are also upfront and honest with me about my vehicle and what it truly needs. I started bringing my childs car there as well. It is great to walk through the door and know Im getting excellent care for my vehicles with great customer service from start to finish everytime!!!
VERY unprofessional staff. Granted I dont get my car fixed often but I did not expect such people to take advantage of it because of that. Needed brakes, hose and calipers replaced. I later decided to not get my car fixed because the outrageous costs were not worth it for how old my car is, which at first they adamantly refused to stop working. Decided to get my car towed from the lot, and while waiting for it the staff were blatantly very rude to me. Please save your money and hassle and go elsewhere.
Abusive, unprofessional and incompetent.1.- Applied one more quart of oil than required by manufacturer.2.- They missed/ took/ lost the filter cap center, which is key to ensure oil flows through filter. So, in other words my oil was not being filtered.3.- They took my car for a roll and drove it hard. How do I know? Well, I have an ECU logger. Should have put it in valets mode...I trusted this guys, but never again.Save a headache and a bad experience.
Went to this location a few weeks ago as I thought their later Sunday hours would be convenient and one of my headlights was out. So I asked for both my headlights to be replaced and for an oil change (was past due).For some reason I dont know why, the employee behind the counter couldnt believe I would wait an hour to get the service done, making it clear they didnt even want to do it when the store was open for another three or four hours.Waited over an hour for them to start, but heres the crappy part. They bent my lights so they arent both pointing in the remotely same direction. Also, one of the mechanics failed to take the filter out for the oil. And lastly, Im positive someone went into my ashtray and stole multiple dollars in quarters and coins none were left.Dont go here, the store itself is pretty neat but I wouldnt recommend them for any hands on work.
Literally every time I go here I end up spending ridiculous amounts of money. Their motto is Pep boys does everything for less, but in my humble opinion thats a bit of an overreach. When I ask for wait times and I get the reply 20 minutes and it really takes an hour you can bet pretty confidently that youre going to leave a bad taste as well. Also, Ive brought my car here in the past to get it looked at and they found nothing. When brought elsewhere problems were found.All in all I try to avoid going here unless Im purchasing something from the actual store which is actually the best part about the place. Its big, organized, and they have a variety of products to choose from. But the auto service is sub par.
Took my car in for a tune up and to get some new parts put in. My car was misfiring and giving the code for a vacuum leak. I was there for 2 hours and I dont believe the master tech ever even looked at it. The then told me that I needed an obscene amount of work ($950 worth) all of which I knew I did not need. I took it to Midas down the road and Dave cut me a sweet deal for just over 200. Dont take your car here. Most chain shops try to rip you off but this one is especially bad.
I brought my tire here to be plugged and they originally said they could fix it, then they called me an hour later saying the hole was too close to the side wall and they couldnt repair it but they could sell me a tire. I took it somewhere and they fixed it no problem. They just wanted to hustle a tire out of me it would seem
Not a bad store but the last three times I had to wait for parts service. One would think a parts store would always have someone at the parts counter. This is also the only parts store that Ive seen setup with a completely different register and parts counter at opposite sides of the store. The service is always great once someone gets there.
4 stars. This Pep Boys is very close to my place of employment, and when I had a tire blowout, they got me in, showed me multiple sets of tires, worked up quotes, and sold me on a full new set of tires. Work was done in an okay manner, which is why they got 4 stars. There was still unwiped tire grease on the front walls, and the tech never gloved or washed his hands, so I had a black smudge of God knows what on my fabric. Thankfully it washed out with some soap and water. Give them a try, just make sure to check your car for dirt and smudgery before you pay and leave.
Wanted them to check out my transmission to verify thats what was wrong with my car. The guy there essentially told me that they dont do transmissions and since looking at it wont make him money that he wasnt even going to bother looking at it as a courtesy. Unfortunate since I spent 475 there to fix my AC and it still doesnt work. I wouldnt even trust them to do an oil change.UPDATE: It wasnt my transmission. I went to a dealer and they fixed the problem. Probably a blessing in disguise because I doubt this place wouldve done it right.
My first time......my last timedropped off my car for 2 TIRES at 3:30pm and they told me it was going to be a long wait and I understood that so I left and came back but as I was 10 mins away I called to see if the car would be done or just finished.NO I GET THERE AND THEY JUST PULLED MY CAR AROUND AND SAYING ITS GOING TO BE A FEW MORE MINS.Im thinking to my self im no rush job and I should get the appropriate time needed to put 2 TIRES ON IN THE REAR .3 1/2 HOURS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL AND FOR THAT REASON I WILL NOT EVER GO TO ANY PEPBOYS TO GET ANYTHING.IT STARTS WITH US AS THE PEOPLE.
Worst Service EVER! Went there a little over 3 years ago and was told i needed to replace my whole heating/cooling system, cost me about $1600. TO began with it was a crappy job and i had to have a few hoses and odds and ends replaced here and there since then. Now just over 3 years later then entire system is going, my system is over heating, coolant leaking etc. So i bring it back to see if anything can be done. Not only did they make me wait all day Sunday only to tell me they look at it first thing and couldnt figure out what was wrong with it so i would have to come back the next day. the next day i come back and master technician looks at it verifies everything they fixed needs to replaced. But tell me they cant fix it, they dont do that work, and it should have never been done by them in the first place. The technician that did the work no longer works there and they dont have anyone that can do it. There employees could not even show any sympathy, basically telling me it sucks to be me, nothing there doing and i cant do anything about it since all over 3 years. So although i guess you can say they did nothing wrong, my experience with pep boys has been well below satisfying and would not recommend anyone spend a single dollar for there service.
I like this place for some things. The guy behind the parts counter today figured out a part issue. The part being displayed and offered for my truck was the wrong one. He realized the model Ram I had was right, but instead of looking at 1500,s he looked at 2500,s. Problem solved. Thanks quad cab ram parts should be accessed as 2500 instead of 1500. This was a common problem at other businesses also. Something needs to be adjusted.
12/16/2018 , TPMS low air tire light would not shut off even when I filled correct psi in all tires . Made an appointment and Pep boys check the problem and reset the TPMS valves and I was good to go . I check the internet and saw that this was a problem that had to be reset with professional equipment ,if they were dishonest they could have told me that all the valves needed to be replaced and charged much more , so I felt that I was treated fairly here , would definitely go back .
Set up appointment online. Guy calls upset next day asking why I set up that appointment time because he had 4 cars at the same time. How do I know that!???He also recommended to bring the car, leave it there and pick the car up at closing time. All these for 4 tires!!!
I had to give at least a star to write a review, or I would have given none. Was getting a replacement tire there for the one at front-left, and they agreed to rotate the rear ones to the front so I would have matching tires on the driving axle. After I paid, I found that they went and just put the damn thing at front-left instead. Talked to the guy and he told me the tread depth is ABOUT the same, wouldnt make a difference. Even if I bought that BS, it wasnt what was agreed upon. Do what you said you would -- basic rule of business. After some condescending attitude from the guy, he told me if wanted a tire rotation I can pay to have it done... Are you kidding me? Hope they realize they are not the only tire place in town, and hope whoever is thinking of getting tires there realizes that too.
Awful experience only one star as I can’t go any lower .... I was a long time customer also a reward member but today I went in to purchase 6 tires and couldn’t even get rung out customer service was horrible I also asked for a manager and never even got to see him (Eugene) I think I’ll be going elsewhere for tires from now on it’s a shame too this year alone I bought over 14 tires and plans on getting 12 more (all heavy duty trucks) I hope this gets to the management so at the very least they can train employees some customer service skills !!!!
I took a 2004 mercedes benz c240 in for a wheel and tire change. I bought expensive wheels online that were painted from manufacturer and tires from them. I got back the car with peeling off paint from when they tightened the lug nuts. Furthermore they didnt even bother to tell me where they parked the car after they were done. Last place I would go for a service
Definitely would recommend some employee training for this guy “Bill” on the front service desk , he was rude to the max and unprofessional , if this establishment wants to save their business either train employees to behave or it’ll sink faster , employees make half of the experience..
Today I am lucky to be alive after having an alignment done at pepboys on 1795 Central ave in Albany. The technicians name was Sean I believe. After Taking 5 hours to complete an alignment and NYS inspection I had noticed that the clamp on my center link was severly damaged by Sean. I assumed it would be acceptable so down the road I went. (With my steering wheel still not straight might I add) Now yesterday 3/28/17 on a 700 mile road trip the center link clamp that Sean had destroyed had failed in the City of Johnson city tennessee. Im extremely blessed because if this had happened 10 miles earlier I would have had a 70 mph impact on the highway and would not be able to warn others of the dangers of getting work done at pep boys. So here I sit in Johnson city Tennessee with nobody to thank but Sean at pepboys. Also I had sent pep boys customer support a more detailed synopsis and my email was rejected by their system. Long story short. Go to a real shop with skilled technicians. Or better yet just fix it yourself.
If you even consider pep boys for getting work done on your car, dont. these guys act like high school dropouts and dont know what they are doing and are actually pretty rude to paying costumers, if your a do it yourself kind of guy go across the street to advanced and anyone over there is better than the whole pep boys combined.
Gene is the service manager he is the most rudest individual I have ever met dealing in customer service I was trying to return a bar that I purchased he would not return my part even though I had the product still in the box as well as my receipt I purchased this item 6 days ago the item is I would not recommend store number 200
On Monday 2/20/17 My mother came to pep boys n had a bad experience had attitude and employees being very unprofessional to the point where my mother was refused to see a manager or supervisor and was told they werent in thr store at the time she had to say out loud can I please speak to a manger witch the manger bill of retail was very helpful the cashier of the service department was very disrespectful as well he even throw the keys at my mother and began to say she had to pay for a battery she had a warranty on still I would not recommend no one to go here I am so at aw that this happened to my mother

2022-02-06I never have had service done here but I was helped by a very nice gentleman (Tom Myers) he was able to get my truck in earlier then it’s original appointment so I didn’t have to go out in a ice storm for new tires. Then the next day my window fell off track and Tom once again got my truck in Immediately for service. He definitely made a pep boys returning customer out of me.

2022-02-11I was very impressed with their service. I normally go to Midas to have my car serviced, but the quote I received from Pep Boys was surprisingly substantially less. In addition, they had a nice internet coupon good for $40 off any brake job. I needed my rear brake pads as and rotors replaced. Pep Boys was very flexible in scheduling me, even when I had to reschedule. My wait time while they were working on the car couldnt have been shorter. This Colonie Pep Boys location will be my new go to place for car repairs and maintenance.

2022-06-02I got a tear in the sidewall of my tire while on a trip. Tom help me out with finding a good replacement tire and got it installed and balanced right away. Very good group of people to work with and very considerate when I was in need.

2022-04-12Brought my Saab in for an oil change and they even let me bring my own oil, which is great! Only charged me $22 since I brought my own oil and filter. Great service, and scheduled it same day. Took about an hour but that was because they were busy and I just showed up. They were great on the phone as I called prior to make sure I can bring my own oil. 5/5

2022-02-18Went in for two new front tires, they were able to squeeze me in exactly when I needed and were able to get me a few discounts and helped me sign up for the pep boys card. Tom has great customer service!

2022-06-20This is my 2nd time coming in a matter of two weeks. 2 weeks ago I called about a hum on the left side front of the car. I called and was told to come down right away. Being as busy as they were they managed to get me and fix my car. Today June 20th I had a small leak in my left front tire and once again they got me in right away to put a new tire on. Thank you to Mike & Tom who Ive dealt with both times. You 2 are the best!
