Took my vehicle to Pepboys because my A/C wasnt working. Abdool told me something was blocking the vent, he cleared it and add Freon. Charged me over $200 and the next day the problem returned. I went back to him and he acted like hed never seen me or knew what I was talking about..
Horrible and corrupt staff. They will tell you the tire is not in stock while it will be in their storage and they will ask you 25$ each extra for Fast shipment.. this is disgusting tactics and if you compare prices from websites they will tell you order on the website... No business with this fraud
I have no complaints about the service i received from the manager Mr. Abdool and advisor, Mr. Hemraj. My car was well taken care of and all of my car-related concerns were fixed. My main complaint, though, is that I was placed in the waiting area where it was extremely cold while waiting for my car to be ready! The lack of heat in the store is not the fault of the store; it is the fault of managements / corporate, and I demand that the owner address this issue quickly since it is not pleasant to be sat in such a frigid atmosphere
They are truly great the mechanic George did my car and even stayed late to make sure the car was ready by morning.The manager Abdool was amazing communicated with me about my car. Hemraj in front stayed to help the mechanic out on my vehicle. The price I was quoted was the price I paid.
Unfortunately I have a less than pleasant review for this PepBoys location. My appointment was online and also a follow up call was made to ensure my oil change. I arrived 30min prior to my appointment and was told by a manager including a staff member that I would be serviced in 2hours. That could have been avoided if a professional staff member would have properly honored both by phone and online a decent timeframe for completing a simple oil change. Horrible service none professional and requires proper due diligence when attending to customers.
Quick friendly service and a fair price! I called worried that I wasn’t going to be able to get my car fixed on the same day and Christian checked on the availability of parts, and when I got there Jay made my check in easy and was super helpful at explaining my choices. If I had gone to the car dealer I would have been out of a car for a week. Pep Boys had me on my way in no time!
Ive been going to this Pep Boys location for many years, and have continued coming here even though I moved further away. The staff are all very pleasant and polite. Prices are very fair, and service is always done properly. Id LOVE it if the chairs in the waiting area were a bit more comfortable, lol! But thats the only negative, and its a VERY small one.
Jon was very helpful! First of all I appreciate the military discount. Second I waited less time than the estimate I was given and Jon was very helpful in explaining the costs and listened to exactly what I needed.The waiting area isnt the prettiest its a bit dark but the store is HUGE and you can spend the entire time shopping. Definately coming back for all my other service needs!
Do not take you vehicle here. They do not do what you ask for. I did an oil change and ask for tire rotation which is complementary and was listed on my final bill that it was done. Hold and behold it was not done. This is the the second time this happened only this time I went back in and told them. The answer I got is were sorry the mechanic Melvin must have forgot how does someone forget when the claim the did it as part of the bill with. 20 hrs. Very trustworthy. God only knows what kind of oil they actually put in your car or if they even change the oil.
Wish I could agree with all those who praise this Pep Boys location. These people are a bunch of crooks at the customers expense. Especially the Indian Guyanese manager. Theyre Unfair, EFFd UP & GRIMEY. The only emoji deserved is the middle finger plus ZERO stars. Very disappointing!!!
Took my car in because the dealer said I needed brakes and rotors on my 2019 Cadillac CTS .the service manager told me he will do a free check ,when car was on the lift Abdul the service manager took me to the car and showed me the brakes was good and he educated me on my brake and a few things on my car .he even brought out a new set of brakes to compare.l saw him take 2 other customers in the shop and showed them there car and took the time to explain there problems with there car . This is the greatest experience I have ever had in doing business i love this place I recommend it to all my friends and family.Abdul and Phil the mechanic Rock.
Abdool, Cristian and Mickael were fabulous. I made an appointment which they honored. They got me out in time and for a reasonable price. They even applied a coupon without me asking. I have been coming here for 10 years and they have always treated me with respect and honesty. Honesty is very key in the mechanic industry abnd PEP BOYS has always been homnbest with me. Abdool has been servicing me for 5 years now and he is always friendly, honest and courteous. He is a fabulous manager and his staff treats everyone with respect.
Such a disappointing experience. Unprofessional and dismissive service manager with employees who provided incorrect information to customers. I made an appointment to have my oil changed and patch a tire. When I asked the employee when my car should be finished I was told my car would be ready in 45 minutes. When I arrived 45 minutes later, my car had not been moved. When I asked why it hadn’t been started, the manager said his employee would never say it would be done in that amount of time, laughed and said I made that up. In response to the fact I scheduled an appointment, he stated that appointments don’t matter, that they don’t drop whatever they are doing to work on someone’s car because they made an appointment. Unprofessional. Dismissive. Disrespectful. My car was finally finished 2 hours later and was returned to me without refilling the air in the fixed tire. The psi was more than half of where it should have been. Unsafe. On top of that, the manager wasn’t wearing a mask despite the signs posted and his other employees wearing them. Woefully disappointed with this location. Take your business elsewhere.
I usually have a great experience with this Pep Boys location (hence the 2 stars) but today (1/23/21) was not one of those days. It took 9 hours to replace 2 rotors and brakes and cost me almost $500 to do so. They couldnt/ wouldnt fix anything else I needed (which was only a tune up and fixing my front left turning signal) which is crazy to me. I wont be going back.
Very dishonest establishment. They said I needed both my rear wheel bearings replaced. Then tried to say I needed 2 new tires when I know I dont. That raised a red flag. When I got home something told me to check the work. Lo and behold only one side wheel bearing was changed 🤬🤬🤬 $885 later. Ill be talking to someone about getting my money back for the one that never made it on to my vehicle. Stay away.!!!!
I came here last night to change the oil and have them check my drivers front tire. I previously came from mavis that they told me I had a hole in my tire and needed a new one. I decided to drive here (Ive been coming here for years). When I got there told the gentleman I needed an oil change and for them to check my tire because Mavis told me it had a hole in it. I got here around 4:30, so it was close to the end of the day, so I understand if the mechanic was tired. They called me back and said I had a good tire and didnt need a new one. I asked several times whether he was certain because I had been told otherwise. He told us not to worry that they are professionals and that they know what they are doing. He told me they just put air in my tire and turned off my tire pressure like off. This morning, I was on the highway and my tired was flat. And I nearly caused a car accident. I called them and the guy in the office told me to come here and take a look at it. When I came in, I shared my concerns with the guy and said I wanted to talk to a manager. When I began speaking with the store manager Abdool, he showed no concern that I almost had a car accident. He told me “What do you want us to do if we have found nothing”. I told him I knew for sure they didn’t check my tires because when I spoke to the guy who called me from last night he had no idea they needed to check my tires. Im really angry about this place and the staff. After going back and forth the store manager Abdool told me they are not taking care of my car to go somewhere else. So now I had to tow my car to a different location because he was furious that I told him they werent doing their job. Neither do they care about the safety of their customers and others. I am furious that I had to miss a full day of work and money because of this institution. Im very upset about this place. They need to change their staff and put people that care about their customers. I can’t trust them to do work in my car anymore, which is sad. Do Not take your car here if you want to end up with a headache.
Terrible customer service, false advertising, lazy staff, and useless management. Ordered tires online for my truck. Put in exactly the type of truck I have ordered the tires made my appointment for them to be put on. Arrived the associate immediately gave an attitude saying they couldnt put them on my truck bc the truck is too big! First off its an f250, ok its big Ive seen bigger. It standard tires, nothing oversized. Even if the truck didnt fit on the lift you use a jack like anywhere else would. They were extremely rude about it thought. If you arent going to install tires for a truck that size then why sell them. Reached out to pepboy to file a complaint. I had to respond 4 times with the same information. Almost 2 months later the store manager called me with all the wrong information. Didnt even apologize was just like so whats the problem. Fortunately we went elsewhere!
This was the worst customer service experience I have ever had at an auto repair facility. My car was towed to this shop to replace an alternator belt. I was told by the service clerk and manager that they must diagnose the car engine before replacing the belt. I questioned the unnecessary charge for a simple belt replacement. Dissatisfied with my line of questioning, and without checking my car, I was told that the work is complicated and I should take my car to another facility or the dealer. This resulted in a second expensive tow to another repair shop, which changed the belt in 45 minutes.The service manager was very unprofessional. His comments and handling of my complaint is under review by Pep Boys Corporate.
The store had maybe two customers in it. There was one person on the register who was obviously struggling. No one else would just walk over to ring my purchase. They were all just on cell phones or had their heads down. Please consider a tutorial in customer service.
The service was good. However, they post a sign saying a mask is required and must be worn. So could you explain to me why an employee does not have a mask entirely on over his mouth and nose? Its actually two of them who arent wearing mask. Completely unacceptable. I would have left but my car was being worked on at the moment.
Being a Uber and Lyft Driver; I’m in this store a ton.Thoughtful, considerate people work here. They’ll take their time w/ you & give you the options upfront and clearly. Work diligently and quickly; Not pushing a sale on you or trying to give you something you didn’t want or come in for. I appreciate the staff and mechanics here and the work and professionalism has alway been above and beyond.
Its a Pep Boys. You get just what you expect.I come here because the aisles are clearly labelled with full stock of items making it an easy and quick trip when I want to just get in and out quickly. The staff here is pretty knowledgable on anything u might need to ask where to find, and will make recommendations if needed. The parts counter staff is even more knowledgeable on the type of questions you would have about real issues with your car. Great place to buy tires as well. The mechanics are fairly quick once they get the paperwork anyway and seem to be pretty trustworthy, Ive never had any items or change/money taken.
Been going here for a while. Prices are kind of steep but they are pretty convenient, except the last time I went! I normally don’t waste my time writing reviews but this service really got on my nerves. They told me the wait time would be an 1 hour. Then 2 hours later they told me to give them 2 more hours. So they miss quoted the wait time and I lost almost 4 hours of my weekend. Then after they” repaired” my vehicle. It started to make weird noises every time I turned. I wanna bring it back but they’re going to make me wait even longer to fix a problem that they caused and that I have to pay for. Waste of my time 😤🤬
Being a customer for sometime. Ive been greeted with a friendly attitude for my vehicle needs. PEP BOYS store #0283 in Baldwin has professional staffing. What happened to this pep boys. People used to b honest and nice. Now all they care about is making extra money. The service assistant manager Jay has a nasty attitude for no apparent reason. I asked him how long do u think for the break check up ? His response was i don’t know you just have to wait! With the nastiest attitude. Then i said I’m sorry dude. Was just asking that way I can ask someone to pick me up! And the he goes n tells me that it’s a 2 hour wait. 5 minutes later the mechanic came out and explained what needed to be done. He then looked up the most expensive breaks for the car and asked me why i didn’t go to the dealer with his nasty attitude. I was going to spend the 731 dollars on breaks there but because of his attitude i told him to just pull out my car. I’ll go spend my money where I’m treated with the same respect i give out!
This is my first time putting tires on my car. I did my reach about tires.. I called serval tire shops and they couldnt take the time out to give me the different prices to some tires that the research told me that is good for my car. Only Pep Boys took the time to tell me the difference and gave me a good prices.
This Pep Boys, is the worst Pep Boys I have Been to. I got their around 12 am. To get my tires checked out. Waited an half an our in my car, then one of the mechanic came to the car and ask me to get the car if I wanted my car fixed. I said hold up, I are you talking to me like that. I was mad, so I went inside to talk to the manager, I was very loud yes, but o was angry, I had to wait 1 hour. The manager would not fixed my car. I would tell people,be careful at this Pep Boys, they seem racist to me...
Chain stores are usually not known for good customer service. However, I went in yesterday to get an oil change and tire rotation with my 2 young kids. I met James, who was professional and friendly.....made me aware of an oil change special they were having. He noticed I was with my kids and assured me he would try to get me out as quickly as possible because he knows running errands with kids can be tough. Within half an hour, my car was done. James even pulled the car out and met me and my kids out front. Im sure it helped that I was there on a weekday at 11am when most people are at work so it wasnt that busy, but, I still appreciated the friendly service. There was even a young kid at the checkout counter (wish I could remember his name) that was engaging with my kids as I was paying for an item.Ive been to this location before, and usually get mediocre service, but, I had to write about this experience. Big thumbs up for James! Pep Boys....give that man a raise!!!
For typical service I think their fine, but they dont seem to have any sense of urgency at all. Their prices are equal to most shops, not cheaper. I had a break job done and the heat shield from the pad has been scraping against the rotor ever since. Took it back twice to have them fix it and they did...for about a day. I found another mechanic to work on my car, dont really trust their abilities or timeliness.
I git ripped off bad. Went for an inspection sticker and was told I needed inner and outer tire rods plus an alignment. Charged me $500.00 dollars for the work. I noticed the steering wheel wasnt straight the next day and took it to my local mechanic. While it was up on the lift he called me over to show me the original rusted inner tire rods (they were still good) that were never changed. All they did was change the outer tire rods and messed up doing the alignment and ended up with a crooked steering wheel. My mechanic fixed it and no parts were needed. I have the receipt and photos to prove it. Manager doesnt care. Never,never go their. Dont get misled by owner or managers response from negative reviews, all I was offered was a $25.00 coupon for my next service.
I’m traveling and came to pep boys to get air in my tires. They said I needed a new tire and it would have to be ordered. Okay they said it would be in the next day. Not much I can do. However, they told me that it would be delivered by 12:00pm. When I got there of course the tire was not here yet, and they said that they could not find out where the truck was. Well I wait back to my hotel and an hour later they called me to tell me that the tire was here. I am now sitting here and they haven’t even taken my car back yet to put the new tire on, and he said it would only be in hour. Very poor service and he was very rude. If I wasn’t traveling and needed to get back I would have never came back here.
I am very disappointed in the courtesy I received today. My family and I have been going here for years. I brought my car in for a simple inspection just to get a phone call that it failed for window tints. No one called me before the inspection to notify me of this new law. I bought this car used and the previous owner put the tints on. I was told it would be $180.00 plus the cost of inspection. I have no choice. I am a single mom w/ disabled son and got an unexpected additional $180.00 out of my pocket for something that costs $10.00 to do on my own. A simple courtesy call would have been nice like any other mechanic would do. Not only that but they did a very poor job of cutting out tint around brake light in rear window. This place has lost my business for sure!
DO NOT COME HERE** Came in for an appointment at 12noon I made days ago and was told oh just pick up the car tomorrow.... I said I can’t. Then I was told oh well we are all booked. They do not honor appointments at all. Then I was told oh just bring it whenever. I spend over 1,500 and needed them to check the work that wasn’t done right the first time. I was so turned off. Never get anything done with this place. If I could give 0 stars I would !
Not bad for your standard auto parts. And like most auto parts stores they dont have everything you think they should in stock. Definitely not impressed with there repair/ tire section. Waited two weeks for tires that didnt exist any more. They also did not have any alternative tires for my truck. If you need tires, go to a tire store! If you need repairs, go to a trusted mechanic.
Be careful. They WILL try to scam you. I came in for a basic inspection and they try to say I asked for an oil change and things of that nature. At the end of the inspection they said my tires were not in good condition when there was only a small chip in one tire. They then tried to sell me four tires. I went to another shop the same day, it took a fifth of the amount of time and it was half the price. They also informed me that they always here about pep boys scamming people. Avoid this place at all cost!
I brought my car in at 9:30am for an oil change and made an appointment so I was not just a walk in. It is almost 12pm and my car still is not ready. This is not the first time pepboys in baldwin has had me wait 2-3 hours for an OIL CHANGE. I thought maybe this time would be different as I had no come back in almost 2 years, but surpise! It is still the same. Poorly managed service area, slow workers, no communication with the customers.I will never bring my car back to pep boys and I will be letting everyone I know how slow and terrible their service is.
ZERO STARS!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! They take your money, break parts on your car, refuse to fix what they break, blame you and send you on your way with a car thats dangerous to drive! Inexperienced and unlicensed workers HELPERS admitted by the manager Abdul after parts of car were broken during a steering box installation. Bought 4 new tires and needed an alignment also. They had to align it twice. Both times one tire was straight and the other crooked. Steering was loose. Too much play. Was told to drive it for a few days it would be fine. What real mechanic would let a customer leave with their car in that condition. They never test drove the car either. Drove home and car was all over the road. Every little bump! Could of been in an accident! Abdul said come back another day and they will take care of what they broke. Second day returned. Abdul disapears. They refused to fix the parts they broke and said to leave. Spent nearly $1000 for Very nasty, unprofessional and disrespectful customer service. They dont care just as long as they have your money. Never going back. Telling everyone verbally and social media not to go there.
I was there today for car inspection. The rep was courteous and my car was ready in 45 min. I appreciate the fact that they did not called me offering repairs for things they found defective, etc. as much repair shops do in order to get deeply into your pocket. I am now confidence that I can bring my car to the Baldwin branch for my car needs.Ruben
I came in from a stressful day with a busted tire that was horrible. But all that frustration went away because of RAYON L and his excellent customer service. He was pleasant and made sure I was well taken care of! Thank you RAYON L i will definitely be back and recommend your services to everyone!
Ive been going here for a few years now. Unlike most other auto repair shops, they have never pressured me into paying for additional services. On more than one occasion they even diagnosed the issue and told me I needed to go elsewhere, without even charging me (one was because a flat tire needed a wheel repair, and the other time a brake line part they didnt have at the time).
Pepboys Store #283 of 850 Sunrise Hwy Baldwin NY 11510My vehicle was serviced here on 12-19-18 for just a tune up and an oil change ($403.31); price was high. They were not even up to warn my inspection was due for renewal.That was my first experience at pepboys, so I planned to return.On Dec 31,18, I returned; they were too busy they rescheduled me for the next day 10am. So on this apptmt day their inspection machine was down. Again and again another apptmt for Thursday Jan 3,19 at 10am.This time I got there at 945 am. There were only 2 customers waiting. Meantime more customers arrived for repair.Over two hours later, around 1206 pm, I noticed all other customers vehicles were serviced. I then approached the counter to inquire on the status of my vehicle inspection. Then, one named Rayon who was with a new arrived customer, finally turned head and said: it will be inspected, but you need front and rear brakes plus brake fluid, all together, it will cost $1,387 (one thousand three hundred eighty seven dollars). At this point, I requested my vehicle out of the shop. After all and on top of all I went through at this pepboys branch, store manager ABDOOL AZIM and RAYON were about to rob me again. They requested the $37 inspection fee, which I paid and left. I was schocked...Its a real disgrace pepboys shall have such a Dishonest and Shameful team operating this auto service center in Baldwin NY.PLEASE, PLEASE DONT BE SCAMMED BY THIS PEPBOYS STORE!
Horrible customer service. Waited for over two hours to be told my car inspection could not be done because the inspectors left for the day. When I got there they took my keys and my car and had me sitting in the waiting area. No apologies or compensation was given. All they said was come back tomorrow. If you want professional or quality service don’t go there.
I rarely leave negative reviews, however, I need to leave this one. My fiancé and I called this place on a Sunday to try to schedule an oil change and were told there was no need to make appointment, and that there was no wait. When we arrived, we are told that there is a 2 hour wait ... they said some people came in ahead of us, how unusual lol.So we leave our car with Ronald, and leave in an Uber to eat. Once we sit down to eat we get a phone call telling us that we need to move the stuff in the backseat of our jeep because the seat belts cannot be inspected. Meanwhile it is a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We kindly asked Ronald that he move the stuff. He refused and we had to go back and then take the car elsewhere. We came to another place by the Baldwin train station who did it immediately and didnt have an issue moving two boxes out of the back seat.Ronald is completely lazy unprofessional and clearly doesnt value the pep boy reputation.
I had a noise on bottom of car, brought to mavis. Mechanic looked at car after 2 hours of waiting. Tells me car needs new front and rear shocks.. 1200 dollars later. ........ decided to go to pep boys baldwin for 2nd opinion. They took car within 15 minutes and told me i needed new stabilizer pins. Car fixed in 30 minutes. Cost me 169.00 total!!! Noise gone car runs great. Syed the mechanic saved me a fortune!! Manager james was a pleasure as well. Honesty and integrity is what you will find here..... excellent service and honesty👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Rip off scam city. I had a nail in my tire. I wanted to get it the hole plugged. They insisted on selling me a new tire. EVEN BEFORE THEY SAW THE HOLE FOR THEMSELVES. No proper assessment. I told them that all they needed to do was plug the hole. After finally coming outside to assess, they still insisted that there was no way they could plug the hole. They refused and would only sell me a new tire.I ended up going to my neighborhood auto body and tire guy where he plugged the hole for $20.Dont be scammed by people who just want your money. Do your homework and always get a second opinion.
I had a 9:00 appointment for a simple oil change and it took 3 hours to get my car back! Only one mechanic showed up to work. To make things worse, there was no heat in the garage where the mechanic was working and it was only 11degrees! Totally unfair working conditions.
Ive been dealing with Pep Boys over 10 years with no issued but lately its been unprofessional services. My last oil change, the service guy call and told me they couldnt get the oil filter off so i need to take it to someone else. This was my third time servicing the car there from i bought it. I found out they never change the oil filter each time they did the service cause they couldnt open it. I dont take my car VW there any more.. ill make formal complaint to the head office.My girlfriend take her car there because of the convenience. Again each time we go the pick her car up after oil change they keep giving us the wrong key and insisted it her key. (car owners know their keys)Today I drove her car there because the engine lights on. A few hours the Manager told me to pick the car up and take it to the dealer because he dont know whats wrong with it and it cant start. I pick the car up and drove it home. Manger side it cant start or drive , but i drove it home. We will be making a complain to corporate office. Baldwin repair Location, Please your act up!
Where should I start... horrible customer service and lack of professionalism. Few weeks ago I decided to take my car for a oil change around 6:30 pm. The guy behind the counter told me that it will be 3 hours. He then put me in their system for next day at 6:30 pm for an oil change.The next day I was at the workshop at 6:15 and was waiting at there counter for 20 minutes while all the mechanics and workers were chit chatting behind the counter. Around 6:45ish this lady asked me my name and reason for a visit. She couldnt find me in the system because my appointment was cancelled. Took all my info again made me sign documents and told me that the car will be pulled in in 10 minutes and then 29 minutes oil change. I waited till 7:30 pm and the car was still sitting in the parking lot and was not in the workshop while all the mechanics were up in the front behaving like a bunch of kids hanging in front of a liquor store. When i asked the keys of my car and to cancel the service I was there for the lady gave me an attitude and was not even courteous to say sorry.Never going there again.
I dont know if this is the case would like Pep Boys but shop work I would have to say stinks, I wouldnt use them if you have an absolutely no other choice. As for the pricing on Parts and batteries and such they do run some good specials. But again I dont know if its just the Baldwin location but theyre awful the guy sat at the counter while I was the only one waiting there to pick up an online order. It was other employees around none of them stopped to ask if I needed help when I was there for a pickup.
Good place for parts but as far as them working on your vehicle they are a rip off. Went to get rear brake pads on rear and they performed unauthorized and unneeded front end work and billed my wife over 2000 dollars. When I asked to see the old parts they told me they were already disposed of. Do not recommend getting repairs here
DO NOT GO HERE! They are liars and will not actually fix your car. They used the nail in your tire trick because they were too lazy to do actual work. After taking my car there I got a flat the next time I drove it, with my newborn and 2 year old in the car...I finally took it to a reputable place who said there was no evidence of a nail, and pep boys has a reputation of doing this exact thing. For your safety and everyone else on the road, steer clear of this place!
Tried to get a NYS inspection done over the course of two days with no luck. The first day there was a long wait but I cant hold that against them. The second day I went back as soon as they were open and it turns out they ran out of inspection stickers. Come on. Also, I used their online appointment service via the website and I dont think they know about it or care to stick to it or i should have been able to get my car inspected the first time at the time I specified. If you want some fake chrome accessories for your car then Pep-Boys is the place to go. Unfortunately this store was better when it was a Nunleys.
Pep Boys website states that they have hours until 9?? However I went in for a simple, easy tire patch at 7:55pm and was turned away. Stephon at the front desk individually asked each mechanic on duty if they could help me “so late in the day” (give me a break) and told Stephon that nobody was willing to help a stranded client with a flat needing a simple tire patch. If you are ever in need of service and depending on someone to help you, DON’T COUNT ON PEP BOYS!!!!!!
This is a very dishonest place that will try to tell you that you need work done to your car that is really not necessary. I was told that my car needed a tuneup and they would replace the plugs, filters, fluids, etc. A few days later I was a little skeptical about the plugs being replaced because none of the caps for the plugs looked like they were touched so I unscrewed the caps and removed two plugs. I was shocked to notice that both were the original plugs. They had a little rust on them and I knew there was no way on earth they were new.I then checked the filters and noticed that only the regular air filter was replaced and not the cabin air filter. They also claimed that they did a radiator flush which I dont believe was done either.When I spoke to the manager about this he was stammering and nervous. I filed a report with the BBB about these guys.Dont ever send your car to Pepboys, especially this one in Baldwin. They are dishonest and liars. I do not know what they gain in lying to people. Its not like this is a private shop so it leads me to believe that Pepboys themselves are encouraging their staff to lie to people. Whatever the case may be I will never step foot in their stores ever again.
I,ve used Pep Boys for years and for different cars I,ve had, purchased many products & never had a problem. Last week I took in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee to have a simple driver side headlight bulb changed. After removing the bulb the mechanic called me in to say the bulb will not lock back in and was this vehicle in an accident. He would have to use duct tape to hold it in place. No, I am the first and only owner my car was new. I went right to the dealer after they said I would have to replace the headlight housing $750.00 the light was broken. I spoke with the manager of Pep Boys (Abdul) and he was not helpful at all. I have completed the online survey and no one has gotten back to me and it has been more than 48 hours.
Horrible, Horrible Customer Service...Needed tires for my truck. Went into PepBoys only to find they had absolutely nothing in stock that would fit. I asked if they could order me a set, they said sure, no problem. One week later (Saturday) I went back in, no tires were ordered. They told me to come back tomorrow (Sunday) after 12:30 and the tires would be here, so I did. After wasting better than an hour with the salesperson on the phone to PepBoys in Lindenhurst, he tells me the tires are no longer available...... Three trips to PepBoys and close to two hours waisted for nothing at all.
The worst place Ive seen , my car was there for two days , my hose on my truck broke and they could not get the part into Wednesday ,take it was Monday and I wet and brought the part and took it to them that same day, well they was open the next day, my was there until the early afternoon ,now my girl was standing there looking at her car not being work on , the guy who work on the car was sing and really laughing and not doing her car for seven hours , now my girl is crying and mad as hell , now its 2o clock in the afternoon and the truck still not done I got called , I explain to them if my car is not done in a half hour there was going to be problem. Done in a half hour
Service is fast , but I needed to see a technician but none available until 11am . I was there at 8am due to the fact I have to go to work . I was only able to change my oil , but still had my engine light on .that was a let down .That happened once before I came for a inspection and the guy called in sick. I had to go back home .
Unless you just need an oil change, and you have an hour to wait for it, dont go here.My engine light came on and I took my car in to Pep Boys on Sunrise Hwy. They quoted me $1000 in repairs. The car was running fine, just the check engine light was on so I was skeptical. I called a couple auto shops in Merrick and the guy at Merokee Auto on Sunrise told me that I did not need two thirds of what Pep Boys said needed to be done and that he would charge me $400 tops for what needed to be repaired. I was still skeptical but I took the car from Pep Boys and into Merokee Auto. A couple of hrs later my car was fixed and it only cost $350! A few weeks later, car runs just fine. I even took my husbands car into Merokee Auto for minor repairs that got done fast and at a fair price. I will never go to this Pep Boys location for anything. Oh, and Pep Boys charged me $97 for the diagnostic which basically means they plugged in the code reader and read the code.These are the facts. Make your own mind up.
Stand in front of the counter a few minutes and you will see how shady these people are. Every tech would ce out of the door tell the manager what else the car needed then they would laugh as if it was a joke. I bought 4 new tires Saturday came back with a flat on Monday and seatus the manager would not take any responsibility. Stated the tps sensor corroded in 48 hours. They apparently checked them when changing the tiress
I have frequented Pepboys over the years.My last 2 visits within the past 3 months, I have had extremely bad customer service from James a service representative.I was also given one set of information from Christian when I spoke with him at length on the phone, then different info and estimate when I arrived.Then I was told that Atilla, the master tech. wouldnt come out to speak with me.Im writing a letter to corporate.
Worst customer service ever. I walked into to pick up an order I had placed online. I was ignored by the staff, and to make it worse the available staff went to go assist another employee to try and convince a lady to buy a roof rack. Needless to say I walked out furious, and cancelled my order. That was the last time I ever step foot into a Pep Boys
The night before an early trip I called ahead and asked if I could come in for an oil change. They said they were busy but If I came in before 8 I could get it done (even though they close at 9). Drive 25 mins to get there at 7:50 and the guy tells me that there’s no one here to do it, with three people who are still there in the shop.
Empanada queen is the bomb ... Pep boys, Im a deisel mechanic on the island , have no idea what goes on in there. Generally speaking I find all of those parts stores a daymare.. good service is a futile attempt because a good part PERSON is not created from a training video and the VIN. #.it is so frustrating too give a person the needed info on what fn ever and have them say , I need the VIN # .To even provide a part# to cross reference and be met with a uuuuh I dont know. I cant... Im not a parts counter person BUT to have a greater knowledge of their job then they do... Is a place I wouldnt go for anything
Ordered a serpentine belt online. They sent me an email advising part was in, ready for pickup. I ran over to the store and belt was NOT there. They called Hempstead store and girl who answered said they do have one there. After sbort discussion with Manager I agreed to run over to He.pstead store because I have a small window in my schedule to install this. I asked him to call Bempstead again and make 100% sure they have it before I run all the way over there. Do I need to continue? Over course they said they did not have it. Luckily therr is an Autozone next door. They had the belt in stock. PEPBOYS suck!
What a bust out! A lot of young inexperienced people they are calling mechanics, guessing what is wrong with your car, the labor rate is like $130 an hour, I asked the guy working on my car .how much do You make per hour? He said $14, I ended the conversation and pulled my car out
Discovered a nail in my wifes tire on a Sunday morning. Everywhere was closed. Filled the tire with air and kept my fingers crossed the truck would make it from Lynbrook to Baldwin. It did. The guys at Pep Boys had it plugged in under an hour. If it happens again (which it will because my wife has an eye for aiming at nails) Ill be back.
THIS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST MECHANIC SHOP EVER!! THEY DOUBLED THE PRICE OF THERE ORIGINAL QUOTE AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE. PLEASE ASK TO SEE A BILL OR AN ESTIMATE BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE TO YOUR CAR. THE GUYS BEHING THE COUNTER HAVE NO MERCY AND WOULD STEAL CANDY FROM THE HANDS OF A BABY.ON TOP OF ALL THAT I HAD TO BRING MY CAR THEE TIME JUST FOR THE TO FINSH THE JOB CORRECTLY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE.PRO TIP:IF YOU HAVE TO GO HERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE BUY THE OIL AND FILTER OVER THE COUNTER FROM THE ACCTUAL STORE AND PAY THEM THE LABOR TO DO THE OIL CHANGE. SAVED MYSELF 70 DOLLARS ON A SYNTHETIC OILL CHANGE.
Went to purchase a radiator hose and they gave me a hose that had been cut and returned. Not until I said something did the parts guy mention that somebody cut the hose. He just gave it to me with the expectation that I would go to the cashier and pay for it and walk out. Very grimy.
Really bad service and Manager is an absolute irresponsible, brought my car for inspection renewal they were supposed to call me once car was done never called or emailed me, next fay when pucking my keys Manager lied stating that he called when nobody called or emailed, then just left like he didnt want to deal with it.
This place is either understaffed or poorly managed. Just wanted a quote on some service, have been on the phone waiting for over 20 mins already. Their prices are good, but service is an issue here, seems to be the same issue with most Pep boys....Service!! Very poor!!
I HAVE AN OLDER CAR AND I NEEDED TO HAVE SOME WORK DONE SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT HERE AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY PEOPLE IN THE COUNTER HELPED ME UNDERSTAND WHAT EXACTLY WAS GOING ON WITH IT AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX IT. AFTER A FEW HOURS MY CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT! THANK YOU PEPBOYS! :D
Brought my car here and was told one thing was wrong so I paid $600+ Got my car back with same problem and was told x was needed so $400+ paid. Got my car back with same problem and was told $1300 for same problem. NOT, will be taking it back to my mechanic who was on vacation. Ridiculous.
Pepboys is a great company..i had major service done to my truck and technical repairs..the bladwin str did a fantastic job..i will always be going there to have my vehicle repaired...some other people complain because they dont have patience to have their car worked on properly...great job guys keep it up and never lower your standards...
Horrible I took my car for inspection it was totally fine until I got there they told me I failed that the berrings on my wheel were broken and I needed to pay 800 dollars to make it safe to drive and my car was driving absolutely fine before I went there I left to get another opinion and my car was off and wobbly they messed up my car do not go to pep boys for anything there a big scam
Went to them on a Sunday for noise on my front end $975 later the noise is still there brought the car to my mechanic on Monday and it turned out to be a caliper bolt 20 bucks never ever go to Pep Boys very rude work is no customer service and next time Ill wait till Monday for my mechanic again never ever ever ever go to Pep Boys
Went in for an oil change only they come back telling me I need new breaks on a car that only has 20000 miles on it told them no thanks guy kept asking me why not then when I told him Im not paying 250.00 for some pads he came at me telling me to get there credit card hell no im never going here made me want to check if they even actually changed my oil

2022-05-18This place has completely incompetent technicians. Brought my wifes Buick Enclave in for brakes in October 2021 to the Baldwin NY store. The next day I was driving to work and heard a loud banging noise from rear wheel well. Immediately brought the car to the closest place and mechanic told me brake caliper was missing a bolt and wheel lugs were only hand tightened. This issue could have created a huge accident. Manager was informed and he apologized and offered a free oil change. At that point I felt it was an isolated issue.In May 2022, I brought my Chevy Volt in for an oil change to the same Baldwin NY store. Car was returned to me with the interior covered with grease (steering wheel, door handle, seats and shifter). When I got home I saw the exterior hood, door handle and bumper also covered in grease. I also noticed tires were not rotated as stated on bill. Then, I noticed my front passenger side quarter panel was bent out. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the wheel well interior was crumpled up. I brought the car to two body shops and both agreed the car was damaged when it was incorrectly placed on the lift. Damaged is listed at $2100. After 2 visits to Baldwin NY location and 6 calls to customer service I have yet to have anyone take responsibility for this.STAY AWAY FROM PEP BOYS!

2022-01-152nd visit to this Pep Boys, first trip was to buy tires for my wife and have them installed. This was done under an hour.Today had state inspection and oil change done on a Saturday morning, love the fact that you can schedule your appointments. I dropped it off and it was ready in 90 minutes. I think there pricing is reasonable and expect to use them in the future. They guy behind the counter is very pleasant and tells you how long it will be with very good accuracy.

2022-07-05Great service. the dealer told me I needed front end work and breaks,$2000. Abdul was extremely polite. When the first mechanic could not find a problem, A second took me on a test drive and told me nothing was wrong!!! No diagnostic fee. Wow, this is my goto shop for all my car going forward.

2022-02-06This location only has auto repair and tire service. There is an online appointment that makes process easier and quicker. Service reception was professional and courteous. Waiting area can be chilly and no bathroom, so prepare for the small inconvenience.

2022-05-07Had a 9 am appointment for oil change n.y. inspection. The Customer before me was in for the same thing. She was out in 40 minutes. I waited for 2 half hours spoke with someone they took my keys in the back. Waited another hour that with the 2 hour wait..while I was standing some one there ask if I needed help I said nope I been waiting for my car for two hours. Then he pulls me over to counter to show me something. He was trying to show me i didnt have appointment. He must of been the manager. I only go for oil changes since I was there mite of well n.y .inspection done. Im sure Im not there number customer or customer gose on regular basis. Im sure there make money. But money is money so I just got my keys back and left . I Will not recommend anyone to go to this place.they just lost a customer today 5/7/2022.

2022-03-09The oil change took forever, I went in at 12:15pm and didn’t leave until 1:38pm. When I finally got my car it smelled like strong oil and smoke started coming through my vents and I immediately brought it back. When I get back the smoke wasnt happening anymore but the smell is there and I asked the worker why this would happen, he told me he was unsure of why it would do that. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

2022-06-03Had my truck in for inspection. Guy at front desk asked 2 questions before handing in keys. He asked if I had any check engine lights I said no. Next question was do u have any cracked lenses I said no. So they proceed with the inspection and they call me when Its done.i pay and pickup my truck which was backed into spot facing sunrise highway. I take truck home and proceed to give it a wash in my driveway and I notice I now have a cracked taillights lense. Manager blames me and says we dont ask those questions before u hand in the kays.. I asked clerk that helped me a he said that he did ask me those questions I will never take my car back here again the manager is a lier

Read the numerous negative reviews and take them seriously if you value your time and vehicle. Spend your hard-earned money at an establishment that deserves your business.
