This location is probably the most unpleasant unprofessional service center I have ever seen!I came to have a simple tire rotation and I was advised that there is a 3 hour wait, so I asked to make an early appointment to come back so I dont have to wait! Sure enough that was not the case! I go back to my appointment and still waited more than 2 hours just to take the car in! Nasty front desk representative, dirtiest bathroom ever seen, just all around a very unpleasant brutal experience!
Over 1.5 hrs for a state inspection on morning hours. Furthermore, their feedback was :the car barely passed the inspection but we can change the oil - seriously?? Oil change is reason for a state inspection to fail??Being a salesperson is ok, but dont aim to fool people for stupid reasons.State emissions inspection is a 10 min process, not 1.5 hrs.
Hour wait they plugged my tire instead of patching on the inside. the plug was leaking air had to take it to where I bought the tires who them put a patch over the plug in hopes of not having to get another run flat for my car. so far so good no thanks to Pep boys who also didnt put my cap back on or level the air pressure!
Very unprofessional, I made appointment with them, went there the next day and they said I dont have an appointment and will have to wait 2 hours. That was an unprofessional service. Will not go there again. They want you to wait for no reason and make it seem like they are really busy and professional car service autonomy shop. But in reality they are not and are fake.
Outstanding service, value, and customer service!Assistant Manager: Rizvee and his staff were a cut above in their professionalism, knowledge, and communication skills throughout my experience at their Hicksville store.4 new Cooper tires installed, and balanced. Front end Alignment, and Synthetic Oil change with filter. Plus a NY State inspection were done with great care and concern.Highly recommend.
Becareful!!! This place is a scam!!!The worst experience ever. I just had a abs light on so I went in to get it checked out. The tech said diagnostic fee is $284 so I said ok and he said if they work on it that will be waived. They add all kinds of stuff that is not needed intentionally and my total bill came out to $3,200, so I said do I need all that and he said yes and even brought a belt that they cut saying it will break. So I said If I do one thing out of like 29 things he mentioned and he said I have to do it all at once or diagnostic fee cant be waiver. I went to a other shop and my estimate was half of what they gave me and 15 out of 20 things dont even need to be done. I am going to the better business bureau and NYS Attorney Generals office to open a investigation as well!
Ample parking, average service.. wait time is huge... even if u take an appointment for a service .. expect atleast a 30 min delay on a week day, forget weekends..A vast and wide inventory.. friendly staffs.Would recommend if not for their service day.. else all well..
Deron, Nick and Leon are always very quick to help with any problem and get you in and out as quick as possible. I’ll be very honest in saying I was never a person to go to Pepboys for service work in the past but I would never go anywhere else after dealing with these men on multiple occasions. Thank you guys
I’ve had repeated bad experiences here, but my most recent was the last straw. I’ve come back a few times just because it is a convenient shop. One time I came in because my blinker was out. Came back to pick it up the first time, go to use my blinker to exit the lot, and still not working. They apologize, take the car back again, and charge me $50 more saying it was a new issue. Blinker went out again 3 weeks later. Crazy right? Not as bad my most recent experience. I had a slow leak in one of my tires a year ago. I bring it in, and it’s recommended that I get 4 new tires, which seems reasonable to me. I pay a few hundred dollars and I’m on my way. A few weeks ago I noticed the same tire had a slow leak again. Strange coincidence right? I brought it somewhere else today to get it patched, and they just told me “yea it was leaking through the old patch.” Hmmmm. To the best of my knowledge these are year old tires that pep boys had installed for me. Apparently not, because between then and now I’ve had no other work done on the car other than oil changes. So they either patched my old tire (poorly) and then sold it to me as new tires, scamming me out of 100s of dollars. Or the “new” tires weren’t new at all. Either way they scammed me. I’m embarrassed that I let them get away with that on me. I’m posting this here to hopefully save others from similar fates.
Daniel in the service center has been wonderful to work with for all of my cars needs over the years. I come to this location often for various maintenance, but recently my car has had a recurring issue where the AC stops working, and Daniel has been so helpful during this process. He is always up front about the issue and discussing my options. Since I’ve had to come back a few times with this recurring issue, he is always willing to work with me and makes sure to charge me very fairly. It’s hard to find an auto place that doesn’t try and take advantage of you and take all your money at every appointment, so I really appreciate the service he gives and that he has been more than accommodating! This has made me a loyal customer to this location for many years!
These guys will waste your time... Reservation was pointless.Made a reservation for 530pm to get a tire and have it installed on my car. I get there at 453pm and told the representative I was there to get a tire installed on my car. I was told I would have to wait hours for this, until around 8pm. I then mentioned that I had made a reservation using their online system and he said it didnt matter. Either way I would have to wait til 8pm for a tire install. So I cancelled my appointment.
So I had to get towed here during work and was absolutely miserable given the circumstances. Nick, at the service department, gave the best service and I couldn’t be happier that he helped me. He was so friendly and efficient with my car and he is 100% who I would recommend to go to every time. He made my day from bad to great. Thank you!
I work for a Transmission shop. First and foremost what we quote our customers is the price they pay. I was in a pinch with a bad tire. I just bought the car and the others weren’t so good I decided to buy 4 since the price wasn’t bad.The work was good, I had no issues with the job, it was the shady fees added. When I went to pick up my car it was over 100$ more than originally quoted. I spoke with the service writer and he quickly fixed it with no issue. However, I paid 9.99 for a “free” calendar I didn’t want, and over 60$ for hazard insurance. Not making a big deal because as I said the service writer did lower it back to the quote I was originally given. (Hence the 4 stars) I assume the price difference between online and in shop directly was these fees, however I was originally told it was “taxes”. I let it go until later. When I redid the online purchase it was 505$ Watch your receipts folks. Lots of hidden things you don’t ask for.Edit. Let me lower my review so maybe you actually read it, what a slap in the face. Was was not a great experience it was a rip off
Unfortunately I cannot give a 0-star for this business (edit at the end of the review).On Sept 25th 2021, I went to the PepBoys store located at 15 E Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY for two tires and an oil change on my 2016 Nissan Versa Note. The service was done as expected, I paid and left.The next Monday, Sept 27th, I noticed a small puddle of oil on my driveway during the checkup before I left with the car. I am pretty sure it was something that never happened before because I always check my tires and the pavement for any signs of leakage of any fluid (brakes, engine oil, transmission, coolant). I took the car to the same store and after looking into it, the mechanic and the rep tried to convince me it was a transmission fluid leakage and it should be there for quite some time. I told them I always check the driveway for any kind of stains or puddles and I was pretty sure it happened after the oil change.It turns out I took my car from the store and called my trusty mechanic who told me to bring the car two days later. In my mechanic shop, they went in a wild goose hunt for a leaking transmission, and after one hour they came to two conclusions:1. My engine was overfilled with oil;2. The PepBoys mechanic probably spilled oil on my transmission while filling in the engine, but never told me he did so.I spent an extra $ 117.00 on labor, which my mechanic felt really bad for, but he spent one hour of labor chasing something that did not exist and could simply be ignored if the people at PepBoys had told the truth and said they spilled oil during the refilling. Humans make mistakes, but not telling me the truth is an option, and in this case, it had a financial impact.Finally, after opening a case with their customer relations department, I received a call from one of the stores manager who told me I would have a free oil change the next time. Obviously, I told him I am not coming back. The very least I could expect for such poorly executed service was a refund for my oil change, which would not cover the time and expenses I had in my mechanic, but would leave at least the impression PepBoys is a serious company.Unless you want to receive a poor service in some basic things, like an oil change, this is not a mechanic shop for you.EDIT on 10/4/21 - after having my case escalated twice by customer services I got a refund for the oil change. It does not solve the problem but at least it shows the company has some minimum respect for its customers.
My daughters fiancé had an appointment for an oil change. He dropped off his car and gave the guy the key. My daughters fiancé (Brian) left and got a phone call like 8 minutes later. The person on the phone said the key wasnt working. Brian goes back to the store and the mother board was now missing from the key. Brian drove the car with this key to the store. Now the key makes noise when you shake it and is obviously lighter. Brian asked for a manager. A man with a beard came out eventually and never introduced himself. The staff and this alleged manager accused Brian of handing them a shell with no motherboard. How did he get the car there then? Brian asked to see the closed circuit video and he was told, we cant let you do that. About 30 minutes go by and miraculously the motherboard was found on the floor in the workshop. How did it get there, no one had an answer. A few minutes later they gave him the key back with no explanation and no apology.But if he didnt make a big deal about it with my daughter, Someone would have walked off with the motherboard. That costs an average of $200 to replace. No explanation, no apology for accusing Brian of handing in a broken key.Very poor and unprofessional behavior. If I could give ZERO stars I would.
I purchased full set of 4 tires online and got them installed in this store. During installation, I saw both sides of the panels were banded and was afraid its unsafe bc the lift arms werent put underneath the side sills properly. They adjusted it when I pointed that out but I was told its ok. I went back after 20 days to check if theres something wrong on one of the tires because I have to filled in air twice after installation. After two hours waiting, I was told the TPMS sensor broken and they fixed it and good to go, ofc they charged me an repair fee. Next early morning, so surprised when I saw a flat tire that the one they promised. Have to went to a tire store and replaced a new sensor. So disappointed.
Waste of time and money for a non-OEM parts replacement. Made a mistake by going to this Pepboys place. inexperienced technician, had to visit serval times for a simple job done. Equal or expensive to do a service at this Pepboys location when compared to Toyota service centers. Unhappy customer and will not go again
Warning, dishonest mechanics.I brought my fleet vehicle in for an inspection. The technician accidentally broke the windshield while removing the old sticker. They told me it was like that and charged me for a failed inspection. The manager, desk attendant and technician flat out lied.There is nothing worse than a dishonest mechanic. I will not go back and have warned the rest of my fleet. Try somewhere else.
I drive past this pep boys twice a day on my way to and from work. I stop in whenever I need a part and always find the prices reasonable. I haven’t had a service done here until now - I just purchased new tires from them during a great buy one get one free promo they ran for Black Friday/cyber Monday. The service manager, Raj, was helpful first on the phone and then in person. Freddy rang me up and recommended a few additional services but wasn’t pushy about it at all and was very friendly. Vijay did the service quickly and professionally. I have no complaints. A lot of people complain about large chains but the Hicksville pep boys does a great job and I trust their techs. I’ll use them again and would recommend them to friends/family.
Staff was fine, got what I needed for the most part on my own. Wasnt very happy because of the access to get the rebate from their website so I returned the product back due to the lack of reaching anyone to assist acquiring my rebate money. Went to competitor which matched product price, rebate, and discount as well.
I went into the Hicksville store for oil change and inspection. Tech told me that my high beams was not working so he failed me for inspection. I and very upset that instead of confirming with me so that I can show them they work. They just take my money and say nothing. I will never go back to this branch or any pep boys if that. I bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Very upset. I’m gonna call my bank and dispute the charge as I feel I’m wrongfully charged. Plus it seems like I was giving used motor oil from the looks of my dashcam. Very upset.
Price is way too ABSURD to just change the Mass Airflow Sensor.They charge $103 to check the issue by using OBDii. Scanner.Which is deducted, BUT ONLY if you get the issue fixed by them(Auto Zone does this for Free)For me:Total cost=$949.37. The sensor costed $440 ( That too was an outside purchase) and remaining $509.xx was for cleaning, LABOUR etc!Nothing else, was changed or replaced, not even the air filter, as per tech there, he said: the area around mag was very dirty, but did not need to replace air filter. (red Flag in my opinion)Tech also said need to reprogram the MAF!Which is probably reset using the OBDii scanner, i presume.Note: on the bill, one charge said:NO MITCHELL DT LBR:$152This was repeated TWICE on Bill.Had same issue two years back, and I had got it done at another reputed repair shop $197 for MAF +$175 LABOR, which included replacing air filter.The folks in PEPBs were very respectful and polite, thats why the 2 stars.(Big NO to pep bs from now on)
A person had a flat tire goes to pep boys they get his info and made him sit for couple of hours and then they have to say his tire is not repairable perhaps get 2 new tires for $200. Yes or no? No, the person went to another tire shop and got it fixed in 5 min and cost him $10. Bottom line I saved $190 refusing pep boys offer.
Very bad Customer Service. When you ask for your car they reply with an answer Your car is not ready, just sit and relax no approximate timing on how long would it take for the car to be ready. They delay you so you can think they are really working on your car because you cant even check your cars status. They are very slow at fixing cars. So, you might as well rent another car before going there. Only one registar open for payments. Check your prices and there breakdown for hidden fees in there such as road hazards. Believe me you will save more.
The front desk assistant was really cool and knowledgeable he almost knew what he was about to do and he asked us right questions, he told us the quotes for the car repair. He helped us finding what we need to do with our car for the maintenance and it was really quick.No answer and it was really easy plus the store has a lot of stuff you can go and check out and the stuff is pretty friendly and I would definitely recommend anyone who wants their car to be repaired or any maintenance checks to go in and get a quote and if you like it get it done.
I only use this store for simple items like bulbs, wipers, etc. I have no experience with their car services. I purchased windshield wipers here today and had to return them as they were defective. The staff was quick and made the transaction effortless. I have no complaints. Staff was friendly, helpful and polite.
They have been good to me so far. Not super nice but cheaper. I dont expect to be treated super nice in auto shop. They do their job well and I pay proper amount of money. Then, thats it. But you should know that they will not be nice or even threatening when you have a problem with them. I walked in today because I thought they did not give my car proper attention and the fixing schedule was delayed without a proper explanation for a week. But the first words they said to me was Do you want the car fixed or do you want to take it out? which implies if you want, take it. They left me impression that they are in charge and the customer should accept whatever they provide. If not, leave! I feel so bad. But I didnt take the car out because I need the car fixed by this weekend and I know its too late to bring the car another shop. Maybe thats why Pep boys is Pep boys and it is cheaper than dealers. I may use Pep boys again since it is closer from my office, but I should be ready to bring down my expectation. The same to you!
Excellent! I needed 4 New Tires for my work truck. in 15 Minutes i had purchased and was offered a wait to have them Install. This location was packed and for the amount of employees Their they managed to be fully functionally within a timely manger. the Female Hispanic manager was a + who bilingual ability but importantly able to multi task and focus on her store and handle customers relations. Team Member Travis! Very Very well oriented! A+++
I brought in my 2016 Ford Escape today for an oil change and got exceptional service. Raj and Daniel were both fantastic checking in the car and offering advice on some questions I had about other issues with the car. They went above and beyond the call of duty. The mechanic was Lopez, who was extremely friendly and did great work. I will definitely be coming back in the future.
Made an appointment over the phone for an oil change. The service desk team were really helpful and attentive. Mechanics seem knowledgeable, plus I was not there long. I was initial greeted my someone name Mike who took care of me as soon as a came in. He made the process a breeze.
Terrible customer service, I had my fleet car there for an oil change and a NYS inspection. They quoted me for a two hour repair. After 6 hours they still did not call me . I then called and they said it was waiting for authorization. Moral of the story is don’t bring your car here !
Well I find them to be slow and I had a 2pm appt.got there early. Come to find out that 2 of my tires where not there yet and should have been there at 12:00 so I had to wait took over 2 an half hours to put on 4 tires. Other then that everyone was very nice no problems there. Would I use you again YES just make sure parts are in the house when you tell customers. Thank you
One of the worst customer service and this place takes unusually long to get job done. Waited for like 3 hours for a simple wheel balancing job when I was told an hour at the time of inquiry and about 2 hours for a flat tire to fix, when I checked on the car in garage their techs were chilling and having fun while the car was sitting there.I dont mind if they are upfront about the time it will take and mention it during inquiry, but what they do is just so wrong. Dont take their word if you are here.
I dont post reviews, watch out for this place. I just come here for convenience, it’s close to home. After two oil changes I’m questioning why I even come here, I don’t trust these guys to put air in my tires.These guys are un-organized, un-professional bafoons. Brought my car on Tuesday afternoon around 2-230 for service, was told two hours. OK no problem, they were busy. I sit and type away on my laptop for two and a half hours. The guy at the service desk was more concerned about his hair and biting his nails then helping a customer. I take a walk outside to find my car in the same spot I parked it. There busy no big deal.. I get a nice guy at the counter who tells me my service writer is out to lunch he can’t give me an update on my car, so I told him I could, it hadn’t been touched. I waked around the store for a minute he came and found me, told me it would be done tonight before closing, they would call me....OK not the end of the world, I sweat my balls off and walk home. Do I get a phone call saying my car is ready, NOPE. Fast forward next morning now I’m just waiting to see how long they are going to let the car sit there. I call at noon to be for them to pick up and put me On hold 3 TIMES. After a 15 minute phone call they tell me, oh yeah your car is ready....Walk back to Pep Boys, walk over to my car, it’s un-locked...that’s lovely. Wait online for about 20 minutes, the guy at the desk looks lost. Look at the service order, it looks like the work was done the night prior and my car sat un-locked all night.Terrible Service, terrible communication, they don’t value your time or your business here. Support small business not these knuckle-heads.
Great spacious store with a pretty decent stock. However I feel this store has so much wasted potential. The place looks like its needs a refresh. The staff isnt quite the best and they dont really make the experience any better. Ive been here several times for little purchases and even for a quick headlamp repair. Everything was smooth. I hope this store continues to stay here and get better.
I went to get my cars inspection and oil change done as I had received coupons from them in the mail. I was told that there is a 2 hours wait and that I should come after two hours when it will not be busier. I went after two hours, the associate told me again that there is a two hours wait. I waited 3 hours and left without getting the inspection done because the machine had broken by the time they got to my car. Also, they didnt do an oil change even though the guy at the register had entered that service in the system. The same associate told me to come in the next day and that it will take them only 10 mins to do my work since I waited too long. I went the next day(Sunday) and another associate said that he doesnt know who told me to come in the next day and that the machine wont be fixed till Monday. I live 5 mins away from this place and If I hadnt gotten those Freaking Coupons in the mail (that they usually send to lure people in to come to their store) I would have NEVER gone there.
Horrible service. Moh had an attitude with me the whole time when I was simply trying to fix a problem THEY did when they did an oil change. Steer clear from this place. Can’t do an oil change right, on top of that they make you wait hours for simple jobs that normally take 15 minutes. Broke my car’s filter and said he wouldn’t take responsibility for it when the only place I’ve been going to is them. Unbelievable.
Ive been here twice and my first time was not so bad. A bit pricey but job was done good, and technician was nice.The second time was like a nightmare. The person behind the desk was very unprofessional and I was felt very uncomfortable as a consumer. I was given an estimate 20 mins after dropping my car off and going home, for something I felt was too much. ( My front brakes and check engine light sensor) After I decided that I wanted to take a second opinion I contacted them (which they put me on hold twice 30 minutes each), however they told me that their technician already started and took the brakes apart. OK, no problem you can do the brakes but dont do the engine. His response was that the technician had already started in the engine as well. What a coincidence. OK then by this time I was furious. They said when they called me for the estimate the job would take couple of hours and run till the evening. And already the technician had started on the engine sensor and brakes in the front. Wow. Furious I told them I was uncomfortable with this and I wanted the technician to stop working on it. They said I would still have to pay the labor. Ok how much is labor? They said the labor was the SAME PRICE AS THE WHOLE JOB. UNBELIEVABLE!!!. I told them I wasnt going to go through with this. After talking to them a second time over the phone, the person told me they didnt have the engine sensor and they told me they wouldnt work on it. I only paid for the brakes which was fine but the whole process was ridiculous and very stress inducing. After researching online, replacing a check engine sensor costs an average of $200 to $350 with parts and labor. They estimated $750 for that job. Utterly Ridiculous, my gut instinct was right. Thank God it never happened. Will never come here again especially with pressure tactics and bad sales atmosphere like that.
I went here recently only because I had no other choice and I had the same issues as the first time. Not only was there a 2 hour wait for something that would take 15 minutes, they wanted to charge me $200. Of course once again when I took my car else where they fixed it for $20.. its just not right, I wont be back.
The employees were friendly but I will never get any work on my car here again. I took it in for an inspection. They failed it and said it needed about $600-$800 worth of work to get it to pass, plus they wanted to charge a $90 diagnostic fee to find out what was wrong . I said No way. So i took it to my local mechanic and all he found that was needed was rear brakes, which cost $400. PepBoys didnt even mention brakes which is a real safety issue. I wouldnt go here for anything more than an oil change.
12/17/2019-- time:7.00 PM12/18/2019-- time:7.45 AMNOT Recommended one if you want to save your time.I have scheduled an appointment at these two dates for just oil change. their records never notified and showed. No concern for customers from their bad team. Even waited for 45 min , no technician.
This place is down the street for me, so I end up coming here for routine parts because its so close. That is definitely the only reason to ever come here.The people who work here hate their jobs and certainly couldnt care less about the customer. Ive shopped here about a dozen times and about 50% of the time something negative happens. During my most recent trip there was no one at the register for about 10 minutes and after asking 5 different workers who were just standing if they could check me out, finally someone volunteered.Ive had work by their shop fix a tire and certainly will never come back. Took a whole day and after showing the guy exactly where the leak was he still couldnt find it and I had to come back to show him again. Total amateurs. If you value your car, time and money, I highly recommend you go elsewhere.
Do not get any service done here. Stated they did the tire rotation but never actually did it. I know this as I marked my tires prior to dropping it off. My neighbor had the same problem but I wanted to try it out as I never had an issue prior with Pep boys at any other location. Not sure what’s going on at this location so just stay away from it. Unqualified and non accommodating...I had to cancel my appointment at Pep Boys in Hicksville, NY because even though they offer installation appointments they called to tell me the staff is not qualified at that time of the day. They only have qualified staff on during certain hours and on off hours (7pm) the folks on hand would not be able to complete the task...installation of a hitch that is consumer installable.They asked if i could come in earlier on the same day after i already said that i am at work and 2 hours away...they called at 2:30 for my 7p appointment. Even if i left work before ending the call i still would not have made it there before their qualified technicians left for the day.Why would any company, especially one dealing with the safety of its customers, have unqualified technicians?
Story starts on saturday...made an appt for a 3pm state inspection and was told it will take 40mins. Reasonable avg time for the inspection so we waited......its been 1hr30mins and were still waiting. Right as its about to hit the 2hr mark they come out saying their machine is broken....... they tell us to call them the next day to check if the machine is working again..we did, its broken. Called today, yay its working told it would take about 5mins since we already passed... we walk in told it will take 10-15mins, were still there after 30mins. As i feel frustration rolling off of my family, i see our keys come out. Omg finally.If you want to play a waiting game, this is your placeBut i would recommend going somewhere else. Where they value your time as well as theirs
This place is awful and is not skilled at hiring good staff. I was informed that I could stop by for emergency car care and when I arrived, the maintenance supervisor told me to leave due to him not being aware that I was on the schedule. He was rude, dismissive and informed me that he did not care that there was a small child in my car, which needed emergency services. I went down the block to SEARS and I was able to get my car fixed within 30 minutes of my arrival. So thank you SEARS!!!
Daniel and Freddie are the best service advisors! They are not only helpful but they are very patient to explain all. As a female going to a auto parts and service store it can be quite intimidating and you are made to believe that if you do not go with a man, you are likely to get ripped off. Its nice to see these courteous and friendly young professionals treat women with respect and dont look to up-sell on things one does not need. Daniel and Freddie stand out amongst their associates in this industry and I commend the management at the store on Old Country Road in Hicksville for empowering them to give such exceptional and valuable service. They both deserve a raise!!
I had an appointment for a battery installation and I was told my make and model price would be $60 just for install i bought my battery for $200 as I went to the service side for installs I was told by Bradley it would be $295 just for installation and that’s outrageous I got attitude from the start and then he proceeded to talk to my mom and said “yo man what do u wanna do” and then says “ or guy whatever you are” so then he tells me somehow he can reduce it to $95 plus tax’s which would be $104. how does an installation go from $295 to $95. Worst customer service i have ever seen. Bradley’s attitude and so called customer service is appalling and very disrespectful
I went for an inspection with my car, which is 2 years old, was just at the dealership for service and is UNDER its allowed miles - AND THEY FAILED ME for tire treads.I watched them take my tire off put it on the floor and then walk away. About 10 min later, finally someone spotted me standing there watching and came out to talk to me. But for about 10 min the tire was sitting there and no one bothered to call the # I left to talk to me about it (after I told them I was in a rush to get back to work... and it took almost an hour). Honestly, I believe they were just trying to sell me a tire.The place was empty, people were standing around, no one hustles or tries to help when you are in a rush.
Helpful and very well meaning but sexist. I went to get an inspection and was told it would be an hour. After an hour, I was told they just looked at my car and it automatically failed inspection because of the tint on the windows and the new law about tints. I asked if they could remove the tint. They said no and offered advice in a very genuine and well meaning way. But his first question was if I had any brothers to help me out. I said no and then he explained the technique for removing tint. It was ridiculously simple and something any human can easily do themselves. He repeated that it would be better if I had some brothers to help. I know he was super well-meaning, and the exchange was otherwise very pleasant. He was very nice and genuinely wanted to help. He felt bad about me waiting just to find out that the new tint laws wont let the car pass. But I was a little insulted about the assumption that I needed men to help me scrape tint and glue off my windows.
Scam artists. Get a second opinion before agreeing to work, or better yet, take it someplace else. I went in for two front tires, and the y wanted over $250 for the cheapest they have. Then they said I needed new brakes and rotors. Needless to say I took my car elsewhere and paid 180 for the tires which were not the cheapest, and we’re comparable to the tires I had on the rear. Additionally, my rear brakes were thin, yes, but my rotors were fine. They will try and sell you things you don’t need and make you pay more.
Absolutely horrific service. I asked for my brakes and clutch to be bled, and they did neither. They tried to fool me by adding more brake fluid to the master cylinder to make it seem like they did the job. They didnt even touch the clutch. I asked for an oil change, and the idiot who did the job got oil everywhere. I asked for my pads to be changed and my caliper bolts to be torqued down, to which the job was done in a very poor manner. Anti-squeal gunk was everywhere, as if it were applied by a blind man, like the guy didnt even care. Now my car has squealing on the right rear wheel because the pads most likely werent even installed right. The bolts were not torqued down to the specifications I asked. They still charged me for all of those things even though they barely even did the job I asked them to do. If youre looking for quality work to be done to your car, DO NOT GO HERE! They will blatantly rip you off for a job that they barely did, if they even bothered to do it in the first place.
Dont make any assumptions at this place. If you know exactly what you want them to do you should be ok. I was recently was charged for work I clearly said I did not want to do that visit. This store rather replace parts then to test to confirm if its with in specification. If they say they will test a part they really meant they will replace it. If you know little about cars stay away or youll end up paying for unnecessary work. If you know about cars make sure you tell them exactly what to do and if they dont theyll have to undo the work. If it wasnt for the repair shop issues Id give them a 4 star for the store section. They have a wide variety.
First of all, pepboys has been the only repair shop I take my car to but for the first time, I took my 2015 VW Jetta for an Oil change, I waited for 3 hours and than I drove it to my house and left it there for the night, next morning when I saw my car, there was a big puddle of oil on the floor underneath my car, it was so irresponsible, this is my first new car which is financed and they were so careless, they didnt close the screw tight where they drain the oil from, I went back and they took care of the leaking problem but later the same day what I noticed was my engine started making weird sound, so I took it to the VW service center(which I should have done it in the first place) they told me there is barely any oil in there, the pistons started making sound. I was lucky enough to get there on time, my car could have needed an whole new engine if I didnt noticed the change, please be careful, I suggest checking your car twice before you leave from there or find a better professional auto repair shop. I cant believe I had to deal with this just for an oil change.
I went to Pep Boys for routine maintenance including a radiator flush. The estimate was $530, when they came out after the work was complete the total was $818. I asked where the difference came from and was told the person checking me out was not sure. Less than a week later my car started overheating and the check engine light came on, I could barely drive the car 5 miles to my home in Suffolk County. I made an appt online with a Pep Boys out there for the next day, when I walked in I was refused service since they were busy with 1 car on their lift. I was forced to go to Mavis where I received excellent customer service and discovered the radiator flush was done improperly causing a leak and damage to other parts in my car. I was forced to pay $260 at Mavis and $120 for a rental car while I awaited parts to come in. When I called Pep Boys they agreed to refund me the Mavis cost but I still paid for a bad radiator flush and a rental car due to their mistake. Will never use them again, worst customer service experience I have ever had.
The worst service ever. Went there few times for oil change but last time they said oh something is wrong and that last time whoever changed it closed it too tightly or something. When I told them ive been getting oil change for them, they didnt care and said nope... Thats the reply I got. I will do anything not to go to there. There is no such thing as customer service there.I see that manager has responded. After the incident happened, corporate email was sent and nothing was done so why bother with this response
Terrible. They have nerve wanting to charge 86 dollars for an oil change on a 2017 Nissan Sentra. I expect that pricing from the dealership, not pepboys. Never going back there for a service. Just got done at Nissan. Synthetic oil and filter. 29.99. You guys are ridiculous.
I needed my wheels balanced. I went in and asked them to please use the sticky weights on the inside of the wheels instead of the clips on the outside. I asked three people to do this. They used the clips on the outside. When I pointed this out, they said it would be an hour wait just to get my car back in the shop. They also removed my lug nut covers improperly so they could not be replaced back on my car. I would never go back there for any type of service. Find someplace else.
Service was cheap with coupons but any experienced auto repair shop wouldnt take 1 hour to do a simple lube oil and filter for $19.95. Even with an appointment made one day in advance it still stayed on the lift with oil drained for 30 minutes while the mechanic worked on other cars. Disappointing but cheap...
Very sorry Staff. I spent 4hrs waiting on a tie rod ends delivery, yet it showed that they had that item In stock, clerk claimed they didnt have both. I ended up leaving cause I didnt wanna wait the whole day for something so simple. Its funny the mechanic apologized regarding the situation and not the clerk. Dude was like AHRITE COME AROUND TO THE FRONT ILL CHARGE YOU FOR THE EVALUATION smh. First and last experience with Pep boys I am never going over there for anything.
Went there for 2 tires, I had the spare on the front so I instructed them to put the spare back in the trunk and remove the tire in the trunk and discard. They totally screwed that up and dumped everything in my trunk. While the tech was working on my car, I noticed he kept glancing at his phone after every step so I guess he wasnt paying attention. Then when I went home, I noticed that they put the rotational tires on backwards. So the left side tire was on the right side of the vehicle and vice versa. So I had to go back the next morning and have that fixed. And throughout this whole process, they broke 2 center caps and forgot to put 1 back on. And on top of all that, the staff is extremely rude except for 1 young man, Chris. He was very helpful. Everyone else had a terrible attitude. I will never go to pep boys again even for an air freshener.
After making an appt, to change my oil. 15 minutes they said with an appt.then they said 1 and a half hours. and its an extra 8.99 for your cars oil filter and an extra quart of oil. 49.99 goes to 79.99 the car only takes 5.5 quarts. you would think after listing your make and model online, they would tell you all this... never again
Worst service ever... Took me 20 minutes to even speak to someone because the service manager was hanging around in the back cracking jokes with his employees. Literally 20 minutes to get to talk to someone just to hear that its going to be an hour wait for a tire check and they closed on an hour. He was absolutely rude and absurd with the way he spoke to his customers. Will never ever come back to this place again and definitely would love that guy fired for his unprofessional customer service!
Their service department is a complete rip off. We took our van here twice for simple repairs and not only did they try to upsell us on service that wasnt needed but they disconnected our vans air conditioning and we had to get it repaired at a trustworthy repair shop... because this place isnt trusthworthy AT ALL!Beware this Pep Boys location!
I had a 10:00 a.m. appointment. Didnt get finished until 12:45 p.m. Had a coupon; they were supposed to rotate tires and check tire pressure (I had told them that my tire gauge had gone on). I marked my tires before I went in. Tires were not rotated and, though they told me to drive 2 miles before the tire light went out, that was not done either. Had to go to gas station to put air in myself. Last time Ill be using them. Wouldnt even give them one star, but this site make me pick at least that.
Awesome Pep Boys! Mike the Manager made the whole experience for me! I had a bunch of work done to my 2014 Ford Fusion, shocks , struts, oil change, tire rotation pretty much the works, had a little bit of a problem with the shocks that were installed but the customer service that Mike provides is second to none ! I spend ALOT of time driving so I cant thank Mike and the staff enough for taking care of me! Will 100000% be back for any other needed work
I originally went in to get a check engine light checked out. I went in understanding it was kind of late already but I asked he gentle men if it was possible to check it out for me. He responded well we can run it through the machine let you know what code its throwing which would be a vehicle diagnostic for 89.99 after that I told him I had already known what code it was throwing and if he could check my catalytic converter or the corosponding O2 sensor to which he said well we dont really have a mechanic here for bigger jobs today we got some guys for tires and brakes and stuff so after that I said what ever and had them check out a slow leak in one of tires. They fixed it and the mechanic broke my center cap which to me really isnt a big deal accidents happened and he did come up to me and tell me which I appreciated. But I figure a repair center should at least be able to fix bigger things such as a catalytic converter or O2 sensor which I would do myself if I had a lift like they did. Or at least tell me hey you came in to late were not going to be able to get you in. Instead of we dontreally have a mechanic for that. I do love going there for my part and tool needs.
Needed new battery for 09 Camry, searched Pep Boys online, 25% off + coupon for free install. Ordered online with pay in store. 130pm was told 2-3 hr wait, but a technician overheard that, looked at the order & said 30 mins. Sanal Thomas got my car, replaced the battery in no time. Got a new Bosch 36 month battery with tax and installation for $116.49. Sanal, great job. Also, great price.
This store deserve a 10 star rating because of the fantastic job the mechanic did on my car his name is Leon but I think they should work more better with management and the entire desk because when I was at the store Leon was the one that had to write up my paperwork and plus do the work on my car so Excellent job to Leon and Great customer service. And would definitely recommended my friend and family to him at Pepboys Hickville NY.
Awful! Predatory! Went in for an inspection in March, and they found a multitude of safety issues with my car, and wouldnt pass it without fixing everything. (Its a 2006 car that I maintain regularly.) Now I have a noise in my car that another mechanic says is a faulty front strut that they replaced. Today, Pep Boys told my wife that the noise is made because its new parts rubbing up against old parts. Really??? Then wouldnt everyones car be making the same noises all the time?? Its a joke. They are the worst. Corporate will be hearing from me, and strongly thinking of disputing all charges.
Careless and unprofessional service !On 01/10/16, I did NY inspection for my car in this place.Prior to the inspection, My car had no scratches across the body. (Car was straight out of dealer.)I dont know who worked on my car and what they did to my car. But they did put alot of scratches on the body and did not even care to give an answer.I hope these people who did my car inspections on 01/10/16 gets punished for their careless professional behavior.
Took my car to get it serviced and when I brought it home and checked under the hood, found out they drained the oil out and barely put any back. Had to use my dads car to go out because I cant drive the car with barely any oil in it because it can burn the engine. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL. Would not recommend to anyone.
STAY AWAY this place is a ripoff !!!!!!!!!!!!! they advertise 4 tires for the price of 3. well guess what i was told by the tire person (white guy with goatee) sorry sir, that does not apply to the tires you are looking for. if you buy the higher priced tire you can get this promotion. the tires i was interested was $84.00 each as advertised on the website for pepboys. the bearded one said , your total is $615 out the door ??????????????????? i said, can you itemize that for me well not really, it includes alignment,mounting, balancing, buyer protection, tire recycling etc . i said i only want tires, mounted and balanced. he was unable to give me a price. i went elsewhere and got the whole job for $400, tax included
You got some lazy workers, and lazy workers can cripple your business. Came in around 6pm to see if a repair can be done. Chubby younger guy (maybe Spanish) with a skully on up front on January 15th 2018 working alongside a tall West Indian kid (who was helpful and who I dealt with later) tells me it cant be done but I could come in tomorrow and sends me to a competitor at mavis to potentially have it done tonight. I go but they close at 6, so I call back realizing that how it is possible for a pep boys to not do a repair two hours before closing. So I call back and the guy on the phone says it shouldnt be a problem. When I come back I could see the embarrassment in the chubby guys face, who goes in the back hiding till my repair was done. You should hire people with a better work ethic who will drive your business instead of hurt it. You essentially paid him that hour to promote and create new business for Mavis.
Never bring your car here for an inspection. They will purposely fail it and bully you into buying brakes, tires and other stuff in order to pass. Even if you dont need those things yet. They do this without giving you the official checklist for the inspection and insist that you need to get everything done in order to pass
Today I went to buy wiper for them to install. I was told to pay & drive around back . They told me sorry, we are too busy to put on the wipers. Ok. Drive back around and return them for my money back. Really? Not aski g for my tores rotated or oil change....oh well.
Worst service, they dont care about the customer, over 2 hours for a 20 minute state inspection. Appointments dont matter. Knowing that you are waiting doesnt make a difference. They start working on many cars at once and dont quickly finish. Very inefficient. I will never bring my car to this place for any service ever again, not even for a routine inspection.
Car was broken down in CT with a bad battery. I’m in Hicksville Long Island, bought a battery at the Hicksville location and get to the car in CT and find the battery isn’t charged! These idiots knew it because I told them and none of these wanna be mechanics realize to test the battery. Simply incompetent!
Took my car there for an inspection, they said I needed to change all 4 of my tires to pass. I changed the tires and 2 months later my car starts making a strange noise. Turns out one of my tires was about to fall off and 2 lug nuts had already fallen off. Took it back to Pep Boys and the mechanic looked at me and said What do you want me to do about it. Never going back.
Called before going for a front end noise. Without looking at the he tells me its a bad axel and cannot fix it since its a sat. I had to argue with the guy to at least take a look before making a judgment of axel... Perhaps alignment.. He grudgingly takes the car.. Sits all day without anyone taking a look 30 mins before close I go to pick it up.. And he says.. Nothing is wrong.. And I leave the place. Not going back there in a hurry..
I have 2016 chevy suburban i had problem with 4 fuel injectors, last week i gave to the pep boys Hicksville when the mechanic try to take out the injectors he band all 8 injectors, and put 4 new injectors and didn’t tell me about others 4 injectors which was he band , my truck had same problem after then i went to the dealer they diagnose and show me the injectors it was really bad. So guys plz if you have new models vehicle don’t give them.
Do not use this Pep Boys. The Assistant Manager is one of the rudest most inconsiderate people I have ever dealt with in a service-oriented establishment.I went to Pep Boys one week ago, because I was concerned that my tire kept going flat. The man I worked with assured me that all I needed was a new tire. So...to resolve the situation I bought a new tire. Now one week later I am back at Pep Boys, because the same tire is flat again.This time around the Assistant Manager steps in to help. He tells me that its not my tire...that its my TPMS sensor thats leaking air. He then tells me that Im responsible for purchasing a new sensor. I asked him why they didnt catch this last time, and the Assistant Manager (in an elevated angry tone) responds with How do we know that this isnt a new issue with your car?Despite my blood boiling at this point, I calmly asked him to check the records and determine if they inspected my old tire before selling me a new one. The Assistant Manager said he doesnt have access to those records. Then he proceeds to tell me that he cant touch the TPMS sensor on my car because there is a federal-mandate that prevents him from doing so. I searched Google and could not find the information he was speaking about. He said he would get me a copy of the information, but he never returned.At this point...Im still standing here waiting for my car. I have spent a total of 10 hours at Pep Boys over the last week. And, this is the last time I will be needing their services.By the way...does anyone know if this TPMS law is true?
I will literally never use their service ever again. They are possibly the worst automobile reapir service. I went for an inspection, which was supposed to take 45 minutes at most (they told me this) and it ended up taking over 2.5 hours. Terrible customer service. They are all VERY rude to everyone.
Bad customer service. Shak at service & tires didnt even contact my company to get authorization for repairs for a whole hour while i was waiting. When i checked for update he said he couldnt reach them. I had no trouble reaching them on my phone and getting authorization. He didnt even bother to let me know. Terrible customer service!
My husband just went in the store to buy some wiper fluid. He said there was one cashier who was not available and a long line waiting to check out. A customer asked the manager where the cashier was and he said shes busy doing something. The customer asked if the manager could check everyone out and he said no. So much for their service~
I almost never do reviews but I felt the need to add to the reports here. This place is pretty terrible. Besides them being slow (over 3 hours for an oil change and inspection) even with an appointment, this doesnt even bring into account the lies they tell people. I cant see myself ever going back as this odd not the first its been like this.

I made appointment online at 7:30 , I called to confirm and Manager said they are not able to make that appointment even I got an online confirmation because “they close at 6 pm “ but their google accounts Shows they close at 9 pm . They had a sign saying armorall floor mats 20% off instantly, went to register the guy ringing me up was awesome, called the Louis the manager to change the price and the manager proceeds to tell me that the 20% off is only for the black mats, the sign did not say that or specified which mats, wouldn’t even give me the discount just said only the black ones and walked away, this location just lost a customer
Had 9am appointment for oil change and free tire rotation. Was there for a little over an hour when i got my car back the tire rotation was not done. Daniel ask me if there was a problem I told him the tires rotation was not done he offered to bring it back in but i didnt want to be there another hour. Watch your bills what the bill says and what they do was not what they did on my car.
Horrible. Mechanic Angelo Santoli failed my vehicle for a list of completely nonsense items. Not to mention, they surely want me to replace brakes and rotors for $390.00, a third brake like for $15.00, and suggested rear brakes for $199.99. Sure Pep Boys runs a huge scam to attempt to make me pay $600+ dollars to pass an inspection. Funny, because I just replaced the brakes a year ago. Not to mention this is a vehicle used only on weekends. When I asked to speak to the mechanic, he cowared under another vehicle, not even giving me the courtesy to discuss. Furthermore, when I approached him, he was argumentative, in which I had to retaliate.Buyer beware, if youre looking to be drawn into a scam, bring your vehicle to PepBoys; theyll certainly give your wallet a bath.
I really can’t stress enough how terrible this place is. Every single time I go no matter what is being done it’s a 2+ hour wait even when barely anyone else is waiting. The staff is rude when you ask for updates and you always see a bunch of workers just hanging around doing nothing. Avoid this place at all costs! I don’t know why I continue to torture myself
Never again the service area should be closed down.took an hour and a half for oil change .not sure why,there was no work being done on any other cars, after watching the mechanics standing around for an hour,I asked for my keys back then he said ohh they are bringing it in now then I was over charged on top of that....
Brought my 71 bug to do a simple change of tires, I took them almost 6 hours to do the job, the guy that thid the job had no idea what he was doing, before he mounted the tires I asked if the lug nuts that I have before will fit the new rims and he said yes, after 2 1/2 hours he finally mounted the tires and guess what, the lug nuts didn’t fit, told them the wheels are all loose and he was like nope, finally another technician told him that the wheels are loose and the lugs nuts are not for those type of wheels, and I ask them if the had those lugs nuts and they told me they only had 4, and I need it 16, so they took me to all auto zone, ace auto parts, and couple Napa auto parts and none of them had them, finally after almost 2 hours looking for those lugs nuts, we went back, and I started looking in the lugs section, and gets what I found them, they had them in stock after all those hours...can’t believe they in business...I’m very unhappy with they business...
Here is my review as a former employee 1997-98 reasons for resigning are failure to complete a professional alignment which took two complete days, hiring people off the street who can t install a tire and the numerous liabilities like one employee who showed me the desire to use starter fluid to ignite the building on fire, another who negligently pushed a product off the top of the shelving to hit my head, dispondant employees who waste time composing to me for hours on end their personal problems in the store and at home. You only use pepboys for a flat not major repairs. As a subordinate I have seen parts persons render a completely rusted master cylinder for sale, a wrong starter for a vehicle. This is one of the most negligent auto repair businesses in the world. Only illiterate people use pep boys not educated professionals. Mechanics moonlight here, its not their primary employer.

I would definitely recommend giving this location a shot if you’re in the need of tires. Also a bonus prices were very fair.😀

2022-05-25Just got my tired changed. Cost a smidge under $200. I asked for the cheapest one they had. What bothered me was they put my spare tire on top of my sweater in my trunk instead of putting it underneath the floor in the trunk where there is a spot for it. I paid alot of money the job should have been completed properly. I then asked the worker to put it back where it belongs and they gave us a big attitude about putting the spare away. My sweater has a stain now from the tire i hope i can get it out.

He claimed that its only free in the retail stores, and since they only have the service center now, the charge $99 to do what every other store does for free. Again, STAY AWAY!!

2022-06-21Do not get your car repaired here. This business is shady. I went in to get my rear rotors, read pads and brake fluid changed. All they did was change the rotors but kept the same old pads and thr same fluid. I was charged full price($700).

2022-06-27New vehicle broken!!!!!Last year I got four new tires from pep boys hicksville. Nice service i gave nice reviews. Then I moved to State of Indiana and still use pep boys for oil change etc @local.This time I went back to ny visit my family hicksville. Maintenance sign came I went for oil change my 2017 Rav 4. On June 25-2022. Hicksville pep boys. Nick same manager was there oil changed I paid my money and paid my respect and thank to team of pep boys. Cashier was Poonam. Any way next morning june 26,2022 we drives all the way to Indiana Indianapolis. After unload my family stuff I noticed big spot of oil leaked in my garage floor, then i moved my rav4 (2017 only 74k M) . On my driveway then on street and oil spots still there keep leaking . Who is responsible if my brand new Vehicle breaks down. Either mechanic has personal or some other issues. Im asking pep boys management for help Im loyal customer of pep boys I do not wonna break my vehicle cause someone personal issues or might hater. Please let me knows Im asking from management? How I can fix it? Mechanic name was Richard T. Thanks mr. T make me in mess. I hope pep boys management will solve this. Please do not do to any one else. Thanks.

2022-01-10I arrived this morning January 10 about 815 at the Hicksville location. Danny handled me quickly do exactly what I needed done by 10 to 9 I was out of there both headlights replaced.Professionally and technically I am very satisfied I will be back to Pep Boys
