I visited Pep Boys at 8 am today for Inspection , Oil change, tire rotate and adding steering wheel liquid. I receive a call stating aditional parts are needed like Air Cabinet and Air Filter including wipers ( all of them replaced 1y ago) considering i dont drive much. I said ok do it.After more than 4 h my vehicle was ready. Tires wasnt rotated (specifically requested) and Check Engine appear as well as Vsc light. Drove back and complain to Tech. Tech apologize and rotate Tires but Check engine never went away ( he said its a glitch in the system)Side Note: Arent you a Car Professional? Arent you have equipment to diagnose the issue??????.Very 😡 upset with service. At this moment i am not even sure whether Oli Filter even replaced in my car...I used to like this location and many my friends recommended to go there....Taking my business elsewhere including Check Engine issue i never had
The front desk staff Brandon was extremely rude. Treated me like barely a human being, was unresponsive when my car was finished... made me wait extra time for no reason and was overall unpleasant. Horrible experience mostly because of him. Came in on a Wednesday morning around 9am at my scheduled appointment, horrible customer service. Honeslty, dude get your act together.Seriously, is basic human decency too much to ask?
Never again! Waited 5 hours for an inspection and new tires and I was the first person to walk in the door for a 9am appointment. A woman that helped me was apologetic and nice but the man who rung me up was upset that I asked to explain my charges to me and patronized me when I asked for an itemized receipt. I simply wanted a break down of the $600+ I was spending but he felt that I should just accept it because it was discounted.
My first impression was not good because I was given a 7:30 appointment and the store didn’t open until 7:30 so my car wasn’t brought in until 8:00am.BUT!!! When I addressed my concerns with Ayana she sincerely apologized and went above and beyond to to restore my confidence in Pep Boys.She made sure I was taken care of promptly and kept me updated on my service.Ayana even called me later on after I left to apologize again and give me pricing on another service I asked her about.She totally turned my opinion about Pep Boys around and made me feel appreciated and valued as a customer.Thanks again Ayana and Pep Boys
I really didnt want to give even one star but i have to on here!!! Went in for a bulbs changed, waiting practically 4 hours then another wait and a half to get through on line finally was able to pay for intended service. But after I paid and went into my vehicle Iand i came to oticed that the bulbs packaged in which i bought prior to my appointment, only one was replaced so with that I had to return to request for a refund and this is now going on about 45 minutes now that they having issues with pep boys computer system to give me my refund UUUGGGHHH. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE, SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. They lack in staff, customer service and prompt response when it comes to issues, and an updated working system.Forever a Non-Peboys customer

They asked me to wait two and half hour to put inspection sticker for a brand new car that will not need any inspection by any professional as the car is brand new and it just need two minutes to put the inspection sticker.I did it in 3 minutes in a repair store close to it.
Im going to give them a chance to do the right thing. I took my car in for a 25,000 mile check up but all they did was change the oil. I think thats all the woman at the counter. A while afterward, I opened the hood to check wiper fluid & discovered that the engine shroud hasnt been re installed correctly (missing and loose fasteners). I made an appointment with a manager to accommodate Pep boys workload, but when I got there that manager had made no notes in my account. There were no mechanics available due to Covid, so I was told that a higher up manager would contact me to re schedule. That hasnt happened.IF Pep boys does the right thing (do the work they were supposed to & re fasten the parts left undone) Ill give them more stars and a positive review. Otherwise, this is just another rip off joint.
I really don’t recommend this pep boys to anyone I know that knows nothing about cars. They hit you with absurd policies and “car talk” about unnecessary and outright wrong things about cars. why am I being charged almost $2000 when I asked if they can replace my ball joints. They said I need 4 new rotors, new ball joints and they wanted to change a caliper. I went to a local mechanic and they said my car had the some of the same problems Pep boys told me about but they offered to fix it for a 3rd of the price and the fixed it in about 2 hours. This isn’t my only experience. This will be my last time going to pep boys.
I wanted to come in at 4:30pm so I called and ask the wait time. The guy told me he was ganna make an appointment for me at 6pm. I figured okay that way I don’t have to wait too much. I came in at 6pm for my oil change as scheduled and I wasn’t given a wait time because I had “an appointment”. Oil changes don’t take that long, and I know because I always do my oil changes, I just don’t have my equipment with me. I waited until 8pm when they finally came in to even say something to me because they were closing. I went around to check if my car was outside or still jacked and the girl who looked like she was training would screw something and then text for like 5 mins and would repeat this. This is unprofessional because you have a job to do, put your phone away and get the job done since that’s why you get paid. That girl should be FIRED as she clearly has no professional drive to work. Very disappointed.
Waited 4 hours for an oil change after being told 2. The employees neglected to mention they were short-handed. I previously had shocks replaced at their recommendation only to have them come out and scrape my wheel well which I needed to spend $50 to fix. The manager wouldnt reimburse me after I explained this and that shouldve been my last trip there. This will be.
Well, I came in because one of my tires was damaged and I had to replace it. It took 1 hour to do it (they also did balance). I was in a rush, so I cant be objective about it. It felt like a long time to me. The waiting area was nice: they had coffee and a tv while waiting. I saw the mechanic come in the store with my cars paperwork when he turned it in to the clerk. Neither one seemed to worry about the time, as they chatted for a while. Finally, they turned my file to another clerk and he called my name. They were all surprised that Id been standing there the whole time listening.
Ive never been to a Pep-Boys before. It is unmistakably a scam. I scheduled a Pep Boys appointment for a 3-Step Fuel Injection and Throttle Body Service Package. At 9.30 a.m. on March 18, 2022, I arrived at approximately 8.35 p.m. after a forty-minute drive. Another 15 minutes of waiting. They say nothing is free for air filter installation, yet the website says it is. In addition, the website indicates that the three-step fuel injection will cost $89, but they are saying $149. OK, I answered, and they replied, Not today; you must come tomorrow. Listen, Ive already scheduled three replacements and shown them all of the confirmation numbers, but Im still getting the same response. I called the customer service number. When I discovered he had moved me to another customer relationship manager, I was upset. Perhaps the worker didnt show up, she explained. Mam, please notify me whenever one of your customers schedules an appointment online,Is this appointment confirmation number useful or is it simply a waste of time? She added, Please call your local dealer to book an appointment. How come youre promoting your business on the internet? I was curious to learn more. Greetings, my acquaintances. Make a schedule on the internet if you dont trust me. PleaseIf you dont want your day to be wrecked, stay away from the Pepboys Ridgewood location as well. pep-boys should stop online scheduling programs, which are completely fraudulent.
I called and made an appointment for 9 am to get 4 brand new tires put on my car and alignment I was told the process takes 2 hr 30 mins, fine by me. 4 hours later it is now 1 pm I asked if my car was ready they said no the wheels are put on but the car still has to be aligned 4 HOURS LATER JUST FOUR WHEELS PUT ON !!? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I paid and got out of there I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SPOT TO ANYONE PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!
If you want to waste your time this is the place for you. Came in at 10 am for an oil change. Someone who was clearly in training was servicing me, he was fine but the person who was training him did not give me a wait time for an oil change. After two hours of waiting I ask her what the update was she goes, “ he didn’t give you a wait time ?” YOU WERE TRAINING HIM WHY DIDNT YOU GIVE THE WAIT TIME. She then goes it’s 4 hrs wait for the oil change because they have 17 cars. So why didn’t you let me know that ?All of these reviews are very accurate. DO NOT GO HERE. Find another location.
Wasted 3 days of my life, went there Sat, it was late so they said theyre close and can do anything today, come back tomorrow no appointment needed. Come back next day and they said theyre full can do anymore. Everything by appointment only. Funny how they change there minds in one day. I said what are my options, they said I can book you for tomorrow at 11, we have 2 good year tires here. So fine booked and come back tomorrow at 11, go to register for appointment, they start asking about car, then another problem, we cant install only 2 tires on 5 wheel drive cars company policy. Then why did you waste 3 days my my time just to say you cant do it. Dont come here. The workers here dont care if they do business with you as evidence by the roaming workers and the line of customers that build and build. Go somewhere else
Took three hours for a standard inspection, just for them to tell me the car failed the inspection. I have heard bad things about them so I was suspicious and didn’t let them do the “repairs” needed. I took it to another mechanic who said that PepBoys was wrong and lied because they work on commission. My car was completely fine and passed inspection. They are so unprofessional and so slow. Please do not go here. They should have to refund me for the fake inspection.
I’m giving it two stars just because it’s has a nice size parking lot and a waiting area and a clean store but the service is horrible. I made an appointment for a oil change ( which takes about 45 minutes) and it basically taken me about 3 hours. I get that a place might be busy but what’s the point of making appointments. They overcharge on all services which is whatever but people don’t have time to waste like that. It’s disrespectful to the customers. Plus they want to charge 100 dollars to put the chip reader in your car. Something that you go to autozone and they do it for free. 100 bucks for 30 seconds of work. Not only lost me as a customer but will make sure I tell everyone I know that there’s other spots you should go to. Jiffy lube is like a extra 3 mile drive but for a oil change I was in and out I’m 45 minutes
Bad. Don’t take your car there. Total scam. Went in for wheel alignment and tried to write the car up for 3 thousand dollars of stuff it didn’t need. They said I needed all 4 quick struts. Them not knowing I change at beginning of the year so I knew they where already lying. Need back brakes and they said 1 thousand. They must be high. Ordered parts online which only cost 110 bucks. Took to neighborhood mechanic and only charged 95 a side to do. Stay away from this place. Pep boys needs to investigate what really going on in this store. They are ripping people who don’t know off. Will file also with consumer affairs to start a investigation into the Fruad in this place. Don’t take your car here.
I have been coming here for well over 15 years. I have referred all of my family and friends over the years as well. I can honestly say I will never bring another car here. I had to wait over 3 hours for an oil change. They took the car keys when I checked in and didn’t bother to tell me that they were over 2 hours backed up. I get that things happen but they should have said that when I checked in. All I heard while I was there were customers complaining , yelling, calling in upset ( reps kept customers on speaker phone ). Just horrible service all around and unapologetic to anyone that they were speaking to. It’s a shame. They used to be excellent
I had to change my review from four years ago, since the service become slow and very deceiving!I recently did oil change in which took the two full days and without doing what they advertise on the website! Like tire rotation and inspection.Also they have check a known problem I had and charged me $100 (to tell what I knew, I did the check myself at home) and left me with vague idea without a solution, and no details!FYI after two days and 5 phonecalls I stand in line to pickup my car, and two old couple before me screaming that they are customers for six years and the they will never coming back there!I guess something as change!
I am a pep boy customer for years made an appointment to check my tires the appointment was for 7pm when I got there they said they couldn’t take my car because they had to other cars and that the app wasn’t working correctly this is not the first time they do this why have an app that doesn’t work and waste people time
I’ve been going to this Pep Boys for the duration I’ve hade my vehicles, which I went through 5 so to say the least I’ve been going here for a while. Their service has been spotty and inconsistent. Today was where I had enough. I have two jobs, which one consist of me using my vehicle. I don’t have much time but when I do I like to get things done accordingly. I booked an appointment and even gotten to the location a hour earlier for them not to even check if I had an appointment, looked behind a door at a wall and told me it was a 4 hour wait when in fact the store wouldn’t even be open in 4 hours, and sure didn’t feel welcomed. I understand times gets busy but that’s why they request our phone number so they can call us and inform us of the situation instead of having me travel more than a hour away. Waste of time.
I made an appointment at 6am today for a 4:30pm appointment. My appointment was confirmed online and i received an appointment ID. I get there at 3:55pm (ahead of time) and was told they will not be able to check my car because the main mechanics leave at 5pm and they will not be able to run a test to find out why my check engine light is on. Meanwhile service is suppose to be open at this location till 8pm. The rep told me I should come in around 8am for me to receive service. I work 6 days a week from 6:30 am till 3:30pm, its impossible for me to come in early. It very disappointing that i had a confirmed appointment since 6am today and my slot wasn’t kept. Now I am driving around with a check engine light on still. Im going to have to wait till my day off which is Sunday in order to receive early service. Its very disappointing that I wasted my time when I could have spent that time going to another location. I highly advise to not use this location. They are very unprofessional there. The fact is that this isnt my first time having issues there. Its just the first time I made a complaint about it.
This place doesnt care about its customers time and they think their customers are rich. If you dont know a lot about cars DO NOT GO HERE. They will not repair, they only replace. Wanted to get new brake pads and they didnt want to do just the pads, they suggested only full replacement of pads and rotors. Not knowing better I approved.After replacing brakes and rotors the car was running badly. Something was sticking and the brake was engaged while I drove. I brought it back. After keeping me there 3 hours, only when I asked for an update did I see they were already preparing the estimate for full replacement of all calipers instead of just the one that was sticking. This place is not honest, in my opinion.One star for the waiting room being clean which is where youre going to spend your time if you take your car there
We made an appointment for an oil change at 2:30 pm and didn’t get our car back until 5:00 pm. What is the point of making an appointment if they aren’t going to honor the time? They also never texted or called to let us know when it was ready, we just kept checking back at the parking lot. Will not come back here
I went there to install 2 new tires. I asked before for the price and they answered $19.99 for each tire and this includes balancing and installing. But afterwards when they charged me, they overcharged $16.99 for the balance They overcharged by $20. Don’t ever go here, they cheat people.
I always had issues at this location but still come back because I have a pepboys credit card & it local for me but today 7/24/21 at 11:30am was a real irritating day at pepboys. The two young men in the front where really sarcastic to myself & other customers just for asking a simple questions that pertains to their job. They dont honor appointment.. Made an appointment and was told my car wont be serviced for 3.5 hours all I needed was a simple oil change?? Horrible customer service and ridiculous wait time. Higher ups need to address the young mens working up fronts attitudes. Customers were polite and the returning replies from workers were not called for 👎
This is a great place to come if you are afraid of being pushed into services you dont want, especially because you can prepay. I got a great deal on a set of four tires- B3G1 & free installation. They only asked me if I wanted my car inspected as is was over a month overdue. I had planned on getting it done the next day, however, Pep Boys price was cheaper. I did have to wait almost three hours, so be prepared to pay for your savings in time. They even participate in the 10% discount from FreeShipping.com!
Customer service is usual, there is a lack of professional etiquette, for example people that work there do not greet customers and the ones behind the register seem like they are miserable. However, they do have reasonable prices. I always get oil changed and buy my car tires there.
Not ready to serve customers.I made an appointment for tires change last week. Then somehow it was cancelled by itself just hours before the appointment time. I made another appointment online and showed up today but the guy said it would take 4 hours to change the tires. I gave up on this shop. They dont know the concept of appointment.
Asked for an appointment a week ago. I handed over the car key this morning at 7:40. The time was 8:30. They said 1-1.5 hours. At 10 oclock I asked whats wrong with the car because its all out. Pflegm was told to leave the key there. I kept 1.5 hours for nothing. Do they play with our time? Its not correct. Im not going there anymore!
Just continues to get worse. Had an appointment for 6pm. I arrive at 5:30pm and the guy at the desk as a look on his face as if they service my vehicle. Then Im told they should be able to get to it before close. I keep trying to give this location another chance but it just gets worse. I took my keys and left. Im done with this location.
I just left my car there for service over the weekend and I am very happy with the customer service received. I had an appointment and was helped by Brandon to check in my vehicle. I had all four tires and the rear beakes replaced and happy how my car is driving. Unfortunately after picking up the car, I could not locate the wheel lock and I called the shop. I spoke with Marlon about my issue and since the service manager and the tech who worked on my car was not available, he recommended I call back the next day. To my suprise, Shorn, the service manager called me the next day to check on my issue. I was able to stop by the shop later that day and when they could not locate the wheel locks, they happily replaced them for me. Shorn actually performed the service himself since I was on my way to a dinner reservation and could not wait too long. Thank you Marlon for making a note of my issue and relaying the message to Shorn so that he can call me to check on my concern and Thank you Shorn for resolving my issue, all with a smile!
I called this location to make an appointment for an oil change, they said to just come that they would see me I drove down and they told me they would not see me to leave my car or come tomorrow. I drove 25 minutes from my home to the location and explained I attempted to make an appointment and was told just to come but the clerk said his manager said no that I would not be seen. I have always loved pep boys and their customer service but this location is not it. Choose another location.
So I have been a customer at pep boys from Florida.. now in NY and decided to continue using the company.. went to 2 previous location before visiting this one services there was poor.. Im living in the Bronx and from the day I visited this location this where I now take my car.. yes I pay toll to come metropolitan pep boys.. on one occasion I had to leave my car and was send home in a uber.. customer service is good, the store manager Mr.Shorn Barrett he is just like any other worker exceptionally helpful he went beyond and above to ensure my car was done.. Not only mine but he was in the waiting area ensuring everyone was been assisted he even apologized for long delays.. I choose this location over any other.. the wait/bathroom area is clean.. candy, coffee and tea always available.. keep up.the good Mr Shorn Barrett and your team at Metropolitan Ave Pep Boys!!
I had an appointment for a 4PM state inspection. I pulled in at 3:50pm and checked in, no problem.I didn’t hear from them again until 6PM! And they said I failed inspection for a faulty brake light switch! They “were nice” and gave me a sticker, asking me to either leave the car or promise to come back the next day. They wanted to charge me $40+(40-60, can’t remember) plus $90 for installation. Plus tax of course. Even though their own website lists the part for $11.24 with next day availability.This should have taken them 5 minutes to diagnose. Why did they keep me waiting for 2 hrs?!? Totally unacceptable. Also, completely unacceptable to charge me $90 for a job that, with no exaggeration, takes under 30 seconds. They shouldn’t charge me anything for installation!I was so upset, that I drove home and immediately googled the issue. I lubricated the switch and it’s working again. Just to be safe, I ordered a replacement part on Amazon. It cost me $9 and will be here in two days.I honestly would have just paid the price for them to fix it for me, if it wasn’t for the atrocious 2 hr wait. That is completely unacceptable. I will never go to this pep boys again.
Well I had my wheel alignment done at the branch in Fredericksburg VA which was great and had the year warranty on it which was about to expire so I brought it here and they messed it up so bad that in order to drive straight the steering wheel has to be turned like 20° to the right and the vehicle now pulls to the left if u let go of the wheel while moving. I tried to bring it back twice but they were severely backed up with work and now I am out of my warranty period. And had to wait like 4 hours the first time only for them to screw it up for me. Very disappointed in the work this time.
It was not great. Made an 830 appointment and got there on time I went in the store and was ignore for 5min finally the young lady ask can I help you , I said good morning. I have a 830 appointment. What your make and phone number sir she replied. I give it to her and she replied we have no 830 appointment and your not in our system you will have to wait an hour. About 39 min I received a call telling me the jeep was ready but I had my rotors installed incorrect by someone else please take it back or we will charge you 375 plus tax to fix it.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I made an appointment for 11am and I’m still here. They had me waiting for 3 hours so far, gave me my insurance card, told me they’d give me a call once my claim was approved and returned my vehicle to me in the same way it came in. I only needed my tire replaced. I called my insurance, they told me they never received a claim, I went back to the store got them on speaker with my insurance and then the boy finally decides to process the claim. I’ve waited so much time waiting for a service that never happened. I’m extremely disappointed and have been nothing but patient. This is the worst service I received, even the mechanic was telling me they were waiting for approval and this whole time nothing was submitted. I’ll never give this location my business again. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!
After so many years of coming here ,this is the last time. It is unexceptional for waiting over 2 hours for a oil change when you have an appointment. They dont even have the decency to tell you that it will take longer because its busy. Why do an appointment then if they dont do it as they say. Last time ,you just lost a loyal customer.
Great place to go. Marlo was great helped me out to and helped me locate exactly what I needed. I have been going here for a little over 5 years, and will continue to go. Highly recommend, not only are they great they treat you well and are really insightful. Thank you guys for taking care of me
Even this one star they don’t deserve it worst customer service and more worst is the rasta lady who’s working on the register very very bad she attitude I have appointments for oil change at 2:30 pm and waiting from 2:30 to 5 :00 after I can’t wait no more so I asked the general manger for waiting time he said will be long time with no explanation I decided to step out till they call me at 5:49 exactly to pick up the car I answered back am On my way by 10 minutes when I get there at 6:00 the shop close and no one cares about me at all and I need the car early morning for work the problem is the workers are inside looking at me but no one cares 😔😔😔👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻You need to change those worst people 👎🏻👊🏻
The WORST experience of my life coming here. Took 2 hours for Shorn, Dana, Nicolas, and David to tell me my car’s brakes were okay. I asked Nicolas “Well what was the cause of the squeaky noise then?” and he said he didn’t hear any. I said “Ok.. Ive driven the car for weeks and have been hearing it. If you didnt hear it in the first few minutes of you test driving it makes sense, but doesnt mean I am wrong.” (Note: I also took off work to come here, I wouldn’t do that if I weren’t certain. My family hears the screeching noise too. I then asked if I could get new brakes put on because the ones I have now may be bad quality. He outright told me no he wasn’t doing that. He said I’d need a brake sensor, I’d need new rotors, and was adding more charges and making fake policies. I told him I ONLY needed brake pads (I’ve gotten it done at another Pep Boys location before), and he said that’s against their policy. Nicolas, stop lying to customers. I asked for the manager Shorn and David told me “He’s not here he stepped out”. So there’s no service manager on duty whatsoever? Terrible service, I was lied to by Nicolas, refused something as simple as brakes, and didn’t receive any communication until 2 hours late (ONLY because I went up to the desk myself). I see why this Pep Boys gets 3 stars. Zero professionalism, lack of efficiency and service, dishonesty, disrespectful, and not even a manager on duty.
Im only giving this 3 stars because its one of the bigger pep boy stores. Not by much. I came here to get my tire inspected. While the manager was polite and all. She had me on hold for at least 15mins and disappeared in the back. Noone could find her or knew where she went. So unfortunately I got there only to be told to hold on and then wait 15mins so I left.
Today I when in for car inspection, I was told that my fail dues to tints, in with my car has manufactured tints on a suv. If I wants to pass the inspection. I need to make a donation to worker, in orders for them to pass car inspection on my car.... I failed.. I dont wants to be extortly by anyone...
I went in on a Thursday for an oil change and came out with a long list of recommendations. I decided to get all the necessary things done the next day at their first appointment at 8 am. I showed up promptly at 8 am to get my tires changed and to get an alignment. I got customer service from lady and she decided to tell me that no one will see my car for at least another hour. There is no line but the mechanics were not scheduled to come into work until 9am. I was very polite and tried to make sense of the situation but the woman was in a bad mood that morning and she was very rude. I was the one that was lied to and she made me feel like I did something wrong. I do not understand why the person the previous day made an appointment for me to come in at 8 am when there would be no one there to see me car. I took the morning off of work for this and this was completely inconsiderate. They also tried to sell me things that I didnt need but thats not what this one star is about. Do not go here. Its overpriced and the customer service is awful.
Never had a bad experience here. Theyve always fixed my car quickly and without any hassle. Ive ordered stuff online for in store pick-up and never had a problem. I want to help smaller guys out first, but when theyre busy or closed, and its an emergency, I come to this big chain. I have called around and they usually have the best price for services.
They said buying two tires and doing a car alignment would take an hr and a half. Even with a 8am appointment they still didnt have the tires. Then we came back and it took three hrs and forty five minutes to do it all and then over charged us. Then while Im standing outside the place an employee came outside to smoke his weed pen. I will never come here again
Like many others have experienced lately, this place has gone from good to bad, real bad. Technician fixed a repairable tire puncture but decided to give me a new one thats not repairable. An easy 20 dollars fix they ask to replace my tire, and my tire they no longer carry. Pepboy social you would want to investigate this. I may have lost a tire but you just lost a customer.
Got a new tires, fine. But borderline tried to scam me on parts and labor as recommended services. Quoted me 3k for what the local mom and pop shop charged me 300.00 to do. And also pep boys guy sai i needed a part that did not need replacing which I ordered and now im stuck with because its heavy and not worth the time or postage to send it back. Thanks alot wont be coming back plenty of others to choose from.
My wife took her car in since her AC wasn’t working properly. Was quoted $1100 for a new compressor. My dad is very handy with cars so he decided to take a look at it. Turns out there was no Freon from a leak. 1 hour and $40 later for a canister of Freon and it is working %100.
Called and went in for an oil change:First called to ask for the current waiting time and price quote. Was told 30-45 minutes and that itd be $39.99.When I came in, I was told itll be a wait of up to 1.5 hours. It must have been only 20 minutes between my call and my appearance. He told me that other people showed up and it tends to happen. That was understandable.He then told me it will be $97.00 because my car needs synthetic oil. Again, I was understanding because we didnt talk about car models on the phone and of course synthetic will always be more expensive than conventional.What IS NOT understandable is the actual price of their synthetic oil change. At $97.00, it is MORE expensive than the oil changes Ive had at the dealership for my previous car that also called for full synthetic oil. In the past two years, on average, Ive only paid $60 for synethic oil changes, $75 if I had it done at the dealership.So was it a bait and switch? A miscommunication? Either way, what this whole thing boils down to is that ridiculous price. I get that labor comes at a premium but an oil change is often offered at much, much more attractive prices by many other service centers.Edit: Because I cant reply openly to the person responding. Theres nothing else I need to provide in regards to this situation. This was at worst a bait and switch - at best, an incredibly overpriced oil change.
Be Aware of shady service advisor. Took my car for some needed repairs. I was told my car needed over $2k in repairs. Service advisor Marlon try to sell me on repairs my car didn’t need. (Work on commission) Lucky I was with a friend who is a ASE certified mechanic and we ask Marlon to show us what the car needed fix. My friend inspected the car, We only saw two things the car needed repair. The Mechanic who check the car agree with my friend. He said just talk with Marlon. The bill came down to around $485. Hugh difference from $2k. Decided to take my business somewhere else for lack of Transparency and lack off honesty. I wonder how many other customers they try to rip off. They lost a long time customer! STAY AWAY!
Great experience!. I purchased all my items via their website at a discount and then picked them up in store. What made my experience painless was the fact that Sharda helped me. Shes an expert, very pleasant and assisted me rather than have me wait as if i were invisible like the other reps made me feel.
Worst service ever. Came in for a brake check and inspection. Was told the brake check would have taken 45 mins. 3 hours later i get called to the front desk. For 3 hours i could have been doing something other than sitting in there waiting room. Meanwhile my car was up on the lift with the wheels off for 2 hours just sitting there...
I paid for oil change and coolant flush service and NEITHER service was performed.Have video from the mechanic who ACTUALLY PROVIDED the oil change and ACTUALLY flushed and refilled coolant.Store manage said he would help me by providing video or refunding my and then he never called me back after weeks of calling him daily.Customer service is VERY disappointing plus concerning how they don’t care about putting a driver in danger, other cars on the road in danger, and damaging a car engine.
The two stars is actually for the last manager I’d spoken to who actually addressed the problem and was quite patient with me; and helped reverse the most recent diagnosis.However, PEP boys charged me over $750 for my car for what was an occasional overheating issue; they changed three hoses that were supposedly worn out plus a thermostat; but 3 weeks later, the same overheating symptoms returned; I went there and left the car for a day or so; the manager at the time called me back to tell me that the problem was major; and it was a gasket leak, a job that would have costed $2-3000, a number that was more than the cost of the car which was a 2002 car.I went there to dispute why I paid over $750 for a problem that resumed 3 weeks later, only to be told that I need to replace my whole engine head gasket; the manager defended their position for them charging me money for what might have been a misdiagnosis that costed me over $750; but I wasn’t thoroughly convinced and was still frustrated for the recent diagnosis to replace my whole gasket head; when this manager went back and got another mechanic to take a second look, he came back with a different diagnosis that refuted the previous manager’s diagnosis that could have costed me almost $3000 … So the car simply did not need a head gasket job … I’ve been using PEP Boys since early last year; up to that point of one possible misdiagnosis that costed me over $750 and another gross misdiagnosis that could have costed me an additional $3000, I thought they were a trusted organization … Now I’m skeptical about what degree PEP boys will go to to squeeze money out of customer’s pockets via bogus diagnoses.
I had an 8AM appointment to check my battery because light was on. I was told at 8:41 the battery was completely dead and needed a new one but only one available $164- fine. At 9:49 was told well the alternator is the reason for the problem. Asked how much $800 and change. How long? about an hour. Ok, I will wait for it. At exactly 1PM went up to the counter since I was told it would take an hour. I get told no, the wrong alternator was purchased so mechanic went back out should be back in about 20 minutes and he will be done in no time after. Went back up to the desk at 2:30 PM. I was told they are still working on it. We want to check everything. At exactly 3:08pm I had enough of waiting an entire day for an alternator to be changed. Took a $15 Uber back to my house because I had literally spent 7 hours waiting in the freezing sitting area . My anger at that point was beyond what I could handle and I chose to remove myself from the environment. Got an email from Pep Boys Metropolitan Ave in Queens at 3:49, car was ready. Got a call at exactly 4:01 from front desk that car was ready to be told battery light still on. They don’t know why. Told me to drive car around and comeback Monday if light still on! I couldn’t believe it! 8 hours, $804 later and battery light still on!I completely understand that repairs could take time but let me ask. Would it not just been more simple to tell me the truth and tell me to go home being that he knew I was waiting rather than make me wait my entire day sitting on a chair? I’ve have had Nissan’s all my life. They all have same problem. I’ve had alternators changed. They don’t take 8 hours to fix. No apology at any time was offered knowing that I had waited all those hours. THE WORST EXPERIENCE. I wished I would of read the reviews of long waits before going to this hell hole! But no wait on the reviews compared to my 8 hour nightmare! They get zero stars if that was an option. Terrible, terrible, terrible service. Be prepared for any repair to take days.If they say they will call you when it’s done, don’t expect an actual call. You have to follow up a few times, the mechanics are not the best communicators and get upset when you ask them questions, they even get upset when I have to come back to tell them the problem wasn’t resolved.

I really appreciate Fernando and the teams extra efforts to figure out what was causing the cars check engine light to turn on, over and over, repair after repair. Awesome people, bought tires online. When I arrived there was a bit of a delay with retrieval from the back. However it was a same day order so they managed to get it all gathered pretty quickly. The employee even brought the tires to my car for no extra charge, tried giving him a tip but said its against company policy. Awesome service here. The store also is stocked with everything you need for frequent repairs and upkeep for your cars.
Marlo was patient and knowledgeable. Spent a lot of time with me to ensure I had purchased the correct parts even though I bought them from an online vendor. Service quote to replace struts was too high compared to my own mechanic (hence 4 starts not 5) but I gained trust and respect for this store. First time ever at a Pep Boys.
My boyfriend brought my car to get it checked out. based on their assessment, I needed a new battery. Fast forward 2 days when I use the car and it stalls. we took it to my usual mechanic today who said the battery was not the right size/the right one for my car. He suggested we call and explain to get a refund. We called and after waiting on hold for a while were told to come in for the refund. When we went, my boyfriend was met with a manager who stated that our mechanic was wrong. How wrong was my mechanic if pep boys, who does NOT offer refunds on car batteries DID? Hmm? And, another employee who passed by said under his breath that the battery placed in my car was not the right one at all. I find this unacceptable and after no one even apologized for their negligence, we are never going back. I dont trust them so they wont get a penny out of me ever again.
One of the best auto parts store to shop at. The staff is very helpful, clean and organized Isles. I was in and out of the store today within 5 minutes of purchasing brake pads. Also received a great discount. We will be shopping here again. Keep up the good work staff.
This review is for the service department and not the store itself. I had two unpleasant experiences at this location:-Once I delivered a car to have a New York State inspection performed. After leaving the car for [FEW HOURS!!!] I found out that the inspection failed due to tinted windows on my car. The tints were very dark and visible so instead of telling me that I’ll fail right away, this place decided to perform inspection and fail me, offering to go elsewhere to remove the tints and come back to perform another inspection for additional charge. Instead I did what was told, except I went to another place shop to perform the inspection and let them make few extra bucks instead.-Another time I delivered a car to have the battery replaced as the car wasn’t stating without a jump. After few hours I get a call from Pep Boys that my alternator is defective and it will cost [$800!!!] to have both a battery and an alternator replaced. I decided to buy a new battery from them and replaced it myself. After few months my car is still running and it doesn’t seem like there is any problem with an alternator. It looks like this place is a scam and try to take advantage of you in any possible way. Stay away from their service department if you’re not too technical about cars!
Called, explained my problem, brought car in the next day and was told they cant help me. Power steering was out, it was a real pain to drive all the way there just to be told they cant help. Never coming here again and will reconsider ever using PEP boys in the future.
I went In there to have my suspension checked, I was pretty sure my shocks had to be changed. They told me everything was fine, I just need new tires. So I got new tires, elsewhere. I asked the mechanics (where I got my tires) to check the shocks. And she enough I need new ones. I can only guess pepboys lied because they have some deal with the dealership across the street from there(where I got my car and was still under warranty with) so theyre were trying to save them money. But I did have my wipers changed at pepboys.. while I was waiting to pay, one of the mechanics came in to state that they didnt have a particular part for another car.(speaking to a colleague) and she said to just reuse the same part (said it under her breath, but not low enough). So just a warning..if you bring your car here, make sure youre getting accurate information, as well as brand new parts, that you are paying for.

Horrible communication between employees and customers regarding wait times for even basic check ups. I made an 8am appointment, arrived on time and at 10am my car still never left the parking lot. When asked about the delay was told that every appointment hour allows 5 cars maximum, so when I asked why Ive seen more than 5 people come and go (with work complete!!) before me I was informed for the first time that there was only 1 diagnostic person who could check my car and they had a vehicle to check from the day before... 2 hours and still waiting. This place is a joke, staff bringing personal relationship issues to work and giving nothing but bad vibes, long wait times and horrific communication. Cannot recommend a place that cant tell me why my check engine light is on after 2 hours.
Finally, deciding to take the time to review this place because I want people to understand, they should avoid this place. Ive been here before for other simple jobs such as an oil change and air filter change that took over an hour. But this takes the cake and prompted me to finally write the review.I brought in 2 tires to get mounted and balanced. I didnt want to come here but the other place I had in mind already had a long work queue and couldnt take the job. As I really wanted done that day, I came here.The service rep said it should only take 40 minutes. I know the job should only take 20-30 minutes at the worst. Additional time is probably because of their work queue. 20 minutes later, they do get the car into the garage and on a lift. Except, it somehow takes then 2 hours to do a 20 minute job. I had to watch from outside because I couldnt understand how it could possibly take them so long to do it. And it really was because they were moving slow as molasses and what looked like at some points, they had to double do the work....Long story short, avoid this place like the plague.
Top notch service. From the desk to the shop! They provided thorough inspection of my truck. Then proceeded to spell it out completely before beginning any repairs. They gave me choices for everything and I never felt pressured to have them do the work! I am completely satisfied!
Nice place, with a waiting room for those getting their vehicles serviced. It was like a doctors office. Expected a long wait. Thankfully, there is WiFi.Now here is why I gave it a star. I was standing politely away from the counter waiting to be next. There is no urgency to greet the next customer and many associates seem to do their own thing. I left after five minutes since I was invisible to everyone. Store manager needs to work harder to manager the team and expectation of customers.
My appointment was for 2:30 I got there at 2:00 After checking in I was told I would be waiting 2 hours after the job was done no one call me or text me that my car was 😡 ready I ended up waiting 3 hours. Total. And I ask the service manager at the pick up counter I was told that the job was just done . Thats a big lyie I was back in the waiting area for about an hour and a half and the car has been done.
I should have looked at the reviews before going to this location. Funny thing is that a few years ago the service here was bearable. I moved away for a few years and have moved back into the neighborhood. I used to go to a Pep Boys in Buffalo, NY and the service there was great. Today I took my car to the Metropolitan Avenue Pep Boys and it was by far the worst experience ever. This is the third time where I have received the WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE from this location.Today (12/2015) I brought my vehicle in for a simple state inspection. I asked the associate how long will I need to wait in order to get this job done. He informed me it would take approximately one hour thirty minutes. I decided to get the job done and wait the time out at a nearby Dunkin Donuts. THREE HOURS went by and I didn’t get a phone call or text saying my car is ready for pickup. At this point I figured the job was done and they may have forgotten to give me a call. I went in to pick up my car and I asked a different associate working there if my car was ready to be picked up. He said “he didn’t know and needed to find out.” To my surprise he would come back and tell me NO it is not ready to be picked up. I told him “I waited for THREE HOURS how longer will I have to wait to get this state inspection done?” He responded that I would have to wait another 40 minutes to get the job done. He was not apologetic or did not value my time. Clearly you have to sit at the horrible dirty waiting station they have set up next to the mechanic’s shop and babysit these people to get a job done. I couldn’t trust them alone with my car to get a simple job done. This place is lacking supervision and can not be trusted with your time OR your car. I decided to take my car and leave this place. I pledge to never enter this Pep Boys location ever again due to horrible customer service.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS LOCATION!
I made an appointment for oil change, I work 1 hour away from this place, had the appointment at 6:00pm today and the representative David which was the one I talked to said my appointment wasn’t in the system and that they have a lot of work then I asked if I could see his computer and obviously my appointment was there very bad service Poor customer service by him then after he lied so he said okay you can leave the car is going to be done at 8:00 pm leaving the car at 5:00 pm, i said okay no problem, be back then he called me saying they don’t have the oil for my car, they will order it and have it for tomorrow to bring the car at 4:30 pm I guess that’s the last time to come in with or without appointment so I said thanks I can’t o work and he said you can come on the weekend leave the car the whole day … then i looked online and sep 18 you can make an appointment he didn’t even let me do it !!! Very bad customer service of that representative
Well stocked and clean for an auto parts store. Ive taken my car here for servicing about 5 times, different issues. The clerks do a diagnostic, which isnt free, and tell you whats wrong and what needs to be done, and a parts and labor estimate. They never do any work without your consent or mess anything up on purpose as most mechanics do. All the work that was ever done has held up great, but they will try to sell you extra things you dont really need, just do your research on whats wrong before you go so you can eliminate what youll need or not need so you dont get swindled.
Easily one of the best places to go get your car serviced in Ridgewood. You can either wait or they will call you when your car is ready. I had an excellent experience with them as my car was done within an hour. I always get my car serviced there from Oil changes, troubleshooting faults to tire changes and rotation. Highly recommended!!!
Service is terrible, one time I got light bulb replaced and it was giving almost no light. I was told it was normal and its not their fault. They tried to make me go away saying: Nothing can be done, it is like that, after long argument they fixed it and it was good. I assume that they put old bulb and not the new one. Another time they were supposed to change my rear brake pads and they were gone after 1 month (3,141 miles), whereas they should last 1 year. I was told to come next day in the morning since the person who reevaluates the car is gone for the day. The problem is that I am working upstate and I need car to commute, I cannot take day off because of car service fault. I was told to take mass transit and got ignored by the service manager and absolutely nothing was done even though PEP Boys were open until 9pm. Worst experience ever... I am never coming back again.
I ordered my purchase online and picked it up, no problem. Online purchase had a discount not sure it was available in the store.Store has nice layout. Easy to find items. Improve waiting area since I was last there 7+ years ago. It has nice chairs/couch with large screen TV. Personnel were pleasant and helpful. You can get your vehicle serviced there.
The staff was friendly. Multiple employees asked us if we need help. We visited this store to exchange a defective battery, that was still under warranty. They tested the battery, verified that it was defective, and promptly exchanged it for a new one. We were in and out of this store, within minutes.
The Best... I have never been to a car repair, and inspection place that didnt come up with a ton of items they Said have to be repaired, NONCENCE.. I care for my car all the time, this was the 1st inspection that had no other work to be done. They made it very clear, my car is in great condition. Great employees, quick time. I will be going back again when necessary.
The service manager was rude ..as I was talking to a tech about completing a simple service in which I have had performed numerous times at Pep Boys..he stated we do not do that here. After the tech showed him that Pep Boys provides the service and in fact was done at his location just 6 months prior. I was very put off it was just a headlight adjustment not even a bulb replacement. Seriously unacceptable for a manger at AutoService location to not know his services or his staff.
My wife needed a new tire to replace flat tire. Sales person informed her she would have to buy 4 new tires for over $1,000 in order for car to run smoothly. Car was 1 year old at the time. Refused to install just 1 tire. Total RIP Off Place. Went to local gas station and had 1 new tire installed for $200. Never will come here again.
Went for a battery change, after waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes they tell me they can’t install it since they don’t have the right tools. I suspect that they wanted to go home early (I arrived at 6pm, but they didn’t drive my car in before 7.15pm). Anyhow - maybe it’s true - maybe they don’t have a T25 Torx bit, flathead screwdriver, 10 mm socket and 10mm (XZN) triple square? Maybe this 8 door garage simply don’t have access to these exotic tools.I ordered online, so they already knew what car I had - and if they did, why didn’t they let me know IN ADVANCE whether or not they can install the battery in my car?After some back and forth with the mechanic, i gave up. Back to the register (since the battery had already been ordered and paid for online).What a waster of time. I drove off the parking lot - without new battery. I doubt I’ll ever return.

When I asked for an explanation the person I think her name is Serina G, blame on me for the service not done.Be carful when you go for services in this location.I recommend go to another place.
The wait time is ridiculous. They say 30min and you will be waiting 2 hours to get a oil change. Why promise a customer 30min if you cant get it done in that time. Theirs no manager keeping employees accountable. Everyone is their to work slow to make the hours. No sense of urgency. Thats what happens when employees dont care about their job b/c their being paid poorly.
Most of the people that gave a bad reviews are just impatient or wasnt able to control the people that work there like how they wanted to. when i was there, some guy came and left. before he left they told him if he leave with the car, they will not put his place in line on hold. people will have to skip him and when he gets back, they will put his car back on the line he will not be able to skip. he accepted and left. when he came back he started an argument about how they cant put him at the end of the line even though he was told that will happen, he didnt care he just wanted to have it his way. my point is, they operate on strict rules which is programmed to fit all customers. lets say you were the one your car was going to get fixed and he came and demanded that he need to skip you because he was here first and left, how would you feel. they get a lot of jobs. meaning a lot of people go there. do you want them to rush and make a mistake? what if it was your car they made a mistake on and you end up dying from it. if you dont have the patient to wait to get you car properly fixed, dont go there. and since most people gave bad reviews due to their incapability to wait, most people go there with the intent to find something bad. even if they act nice, the person will find a bad thing to talk about like there were a lot of people. of course there were because they do a good job.i went there to get my brakes checked and fixed and they did a wonderful job at that. i went around noon when there were not a lot of people. you should do the same. have a good day.
I brought my car to change 2 front tires for new ones and left. They say they will call me when done. However, they called me and told me company policy doesnt allow them to change front tires for new ones if I am only changing 2 tires. They can only change the rear tires and I have to go to my local mechanic and switch the tires from back to the front and vise versa. No joke. If you want to change your tires plan in advance and do it with Costco or Walmart.The following part is a reply to their response: If you feel like I havent explained everything contact the Pep Boys on Metropolitan ave and you will get it from them. I went there just yesterday. Today I went to my mechanic and he switched the tires. You owe me $20 for switching the tires and $60 for my time doing so. Together $80 pay up. And again to anyone who considers replacing just 2 tires stay away from Pep Boys.
I took my car in for an inspection - which always takes a while because theres always a few cars ahead of you - and I needed an oil change. After waiting a while, the Advisor called me up to the counter to let me know that my car failed inspection and tried selling me expensive services and tires. On top of that they didnt even do the oil change at that point. I declined the additional services and had to wait another 20 min for the oil change to be done. Had they dont the oil change first, they may have seen the items that supposedly wouldnt have passed inspection and told me about it before they failed my car. I took it someplace else and got the work done.
Not happy with the way that the store takes care of their customers. Placed an online order and a confirmation was sent that they received the order so I made an appointment to pick up my order and received a confirmation of the appointment but when I got to the store for my order and appointment, my purchase wasnt there.
Every time I come here, a simple routine check becomes a massive fix. They told me I had to replace my cabin filter which THEY replaced two weeks prior. One of their mechanics tried to upsell me after I was firm what I wanted and then magically I failed an inspection. I would not come here if you could avoid it. If I could give this facility no stars if possible.
STAY AWAY!My car battery finally died (it was showing signs for a while). I went there to pick up a new one and have it installed (about $150). They tried to con me into changing the alternator that works perfectly fine, so they printed me up an estimate of close to $800!!!Good thing that I know enough about cars to know better. Needless to say, I went to a small shop, tested the alternator again, bought and changed the battery and everything works just fine.Very dishonest business practice!STAY AWAY!
They lost my business. Apparently the cashiers walk around the aisles asking customers if they are ready to check out even if they are not ready. This of course was just a RUSE to SPY on customers. Why not just say, Welcome to Pep Boys! Its great to see you! What brings you here today?
I would never bring my car here again. I went to get my battery looked at later in the day and it was repaired along with a new starter. When I picked up my car after 3 mins of driving my engine light came on. The next day I brought it in and they said it was a broken wire that was eaten by rodents (this wasnt noticed as they were repairing my battery?). None of this would have warranted a 1 star rating until I realized I was ROBBED of all my quarters and even a small coin purse with pennies and nickels. This is very sad as I tipped my mechanic $10 after getting my car repaired and paid $500 in repairs. I am very disappointed and will never trust this place enough again to bring my car in for any repair.
Terrible! Horrible! And Rip off. I came to this place for concerns on a coolant issue was told to replace my thermostat. Was given an estimate of $940.00 for replacement of my thermostat that includes a flush to current coolant, replacement of thermostat and labor costs. Naturally i thought this was wrong since i know that the thermostat only costs maximum $200 or less. The estimate was showing $400 which was double the cost amount. Thank god i had common sense to leave this place because i found a repair shop nearby that took care of me right away and properly assessed my car issue to a replacement valve that was needed as the thermostat was NOT BROKEN or needed repair. PLEASE TO ALL FEMALES READING THIS DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY GOING HERE AS THEY REALLY THINK THAT WOMEN KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CARS AND FEEL THE NEED TO PRICE GAUGE ON UNNECESSARY REPAIRS. Pepboys you lost a valuable customer because i was always going for my regular maintenance and after this cant recommend you not even for a oil change.
The service here is awful. I drive a fleet car for 2 yrs and every time I bring the car for just an oil change, they always want to do something else and make me wait for hours. They ask for work approvals from fleet management that don’t make sense, so the management doesn’t approve. And then they wouldn’t give me the car back, bc ‘they started the work’. I have to stay there until they go back and forth and the management company final approves. At times only partial of the work they are requiring, bc the other stuff is not needed.The service advisor Serena has the worse attitude. The only reason I even gave 2 star is because service advisor, Malcom, has always been polite, prompt and on point.However, today will be the last day I come here.
I went to Pep Boys on May 26th 2019 to have my AC looked at since it was blowing hot air. I know standard procedure is to check for leaks Etc apply dye excetera to make sure nothing is wrong with my AC before they try to refill it. I was given the go-ahead by my manager after his staff checked it and said there was no problem with the AC they just refilled it with Freon. I was charged $173 for the service. I left a little bit happy now that I had an AC that was working. However today I went back to the same Pepboys because I was having an issue with my starter on my car it would crank wrong so I took it there. When I went there the staff done that 25 point inspection and found that there was something wrong with my AC compressor I asked him why didnt they catch it the first time since they checked and change the Freon the first time. The manager simply said we didnt see it before at that time. So now you mean to tell me one week later on June 3rd I go back there and theres a problem with my AC compressor when you didnt see anything 7 days. He then tried to charge me $780 to change the AC compressor. I already forked over $173 for the freon refill last week. I will not be going back there until I get a response from corporate I wrote the corporate I made a complaint with corporate about the situation to see if something can be rectified. But if they are professionals they should have caught the problem the first time. Causing me a headache after I already spent $173 a week ago knowing that soon I will be driving around with no AC at all because of their failure
I took my car for service at the Pep Boys on Metropolitan Avenue in Ridgewood. I had an expensive dash cam mounted, to protect myself and others and for evidence. The mechanic that worked on my car , disconnected and removed the dash cam and left it on my dash!! I hope they are not trying to hide anything!!
Worst experience ever. 6 hours to change tires, oil and do the inspection. Refused to do alignment on the car because theyre not equipped to serve mercedes (83 diesel, probably the most basic and simple mechanics ever). Poured in wrong oil type. Said they did drain it and replaced with the correct type. Not sure. Car had a huge gash on the passenger side as when I came to pick up the car. They said they watched the security camera video and didnt see anything happen.Car wont stop idling when key is in off position because theres too much oil in it. Need to go back tomorrow sort this one out and take my business elsewhere.
I havent had an huge issue here yet... the customer service is fair.... I have been getting my oil change here... I came into the store today to get my license plate lights change the guy told me that i needed also to change one my brake lights which was fine... I just requested to change both... he was cool with that... however he also suggested that I change my cabin filter which should not been the case being that they changed it in February of this year... but other than that it cool... I would just suggest that they find a specialist that check transmission oil with each oil change so that a customer would know that they may have to change it...at another location being that they dont deal with transmission. . they should partner with another company...
So few weeks ago I made negative comment. But since that things has been changed. The Staff is friendly and attentive. The store has almost anything you need for you vehicle or garage. Im not.giving 5 starts since the mechanic guys still being rude and it need to be addressed to the management. If I purchase the oil and Im adding to my vehicles engine on the Pep boys parking lot it should not be a problem since all other stores allowing a person to fix their personal vehicles. Since we live in NYC and most of us have no parking space its should be ok for Pep boys management. Please be advice.
Their own store employee Brandon with the butchered tooth tells me that how he scams employees for commissions literally telling me a customer that they lie to other customers and get unnecessary repairs done, I went in with my car and they gave me a $3k repair estimate, I went to my dealer and got everything repaired plus additional repairs for only $1k, save your money guys
Two and a half hour wait for an inspection, oil change and new wind shield wipers installed. They just take their time to do anything. I was promised an hour. And when I questioned one of the guys working on my car, he gave me an attitude. Horrible customer service and absolutely no management. Also, when I asked one of the guys what type of back wind shield wipers my car needed, he said he didnt know and was almost too lazy to even bother to look it up in his system. Im really not sure why this place is still open, I only went here because its not far from where I live.
I always thought Pep Boys was a good place. I brought my 2005 Altima in for the A/C problems.. they first changed the compressor, then a week later no A/C . I bring my car back and they tell me it was a valve. They change that. 1 week again the A/c stopped working.. I bring it back for the A/C and a wheel bearing. They call me to tell me we can find the leak it must be behind the dash board and we dont have the tool for it. They told me to go to the dealer. And I ask what about the wheel bearing. Oh he didnt check that the mechanic went to lunch, hell check when he comes back. so I left it .. I go and check on my car, its just sitting in the parking lot.. I go to work and then go to back to get my car , which no body called me to tell me its done, and my car is in the same spot. I talk to the manager and said same thing about the tool they needed for the A/C, and No mention of the bearing.. So I ask.. one of the employees had to go and ask the mechanic . And said he test drove it and didnt here any thing.The noise in my car is so loud that people on the street point. If you dont want to do the work just say so, but dont lie to the customers.So they didnt fix my ac problem just changed parts and repaired things I most likely didnt need. That is shady business practice. I will never go to a pep boys again and will never recommend anyone else to go to them
I have gone here for several years. I have had state inspections, oil changes, brakes, and a battery replaced. I was never there longer than I was told to expect for each job. The people are helpful. The. longest wait is the initial sign-in, and that is because there may be six or more people there. Not a problem for me.
Truly terrible!Took my car there for front wheel bearings a few months ago. Customer service was terrible and I had to wait over 4 hours for what is supposed to be a 1 hour job. Less than a week later, the bolts connecting the hub to the steering knuckle had come loose and were rattling around, grinding on the CV axle. The sensation of driving a car feeling like the wheel would fall off is terrifying and the overall experience left me with zero faith that the mechanics A) know what they are doing and B) care about the satisfaction and safety of their customers. I will never let Pep Boys work on any of my vehicles ever, EVER again. Their mechanics are sloppy and dangerous.
PATHETIC SERVICE!Worker said You can’t place an order online 2 hours before your service for same day and although it lets you place the order online, and in the store they tell you that they don’t have anything to do with the online system and you have to pay a different higher price for the same product. Have proofs of order confirmation and as well as a no show email as the store refused by saying they don’t allow same day orders. Scamming.
I needed 2 new tires so I called around and Pepboys had the best price with installation and balancing. Maurice the Service Manager was, friendly, polite, professional and courteous and Michael the mechanic was also very friendly and polite and very thorough checking all my tires for leaks and thread wear. I was in and out in 35 minutes. I saved another 10% online with Coupon Code ROLLOUT10 on my tires also when I booked the appointment online in advance. Nice Job Guys, Thank you.
First time I tried to take my car into them for a transmission flush (recommended by a friend who does my maintenance but didnt have the tools to do this), they tried to tell me my hoses were too weak and needed to be replaced before it could be flushed. I took the car elsewhere and they did it no problem. Later took the car in for an oil change before a road trip, and I got just out of state and had a cylinder misfire. After the first experience, I cant help but wonder if they caused it.I will buy the occasional light/accessory here because of its convenience, but for any actual repairs, try anywhere else. (I like A1 on Fresh Pond).
I was terrified to come here after all the terrible reviews, but I needed an inspection on a Sunday and didnt have any other option. I was told there would be an hour wait, and then my car was ready in 20 minutes! The employees were polite and professional and Ill gladly take my car here again (but only for inspection, everything else is way overpriced).
I took my car to them for the annually NY inspection and told the guy on the front desk that I had a broken Rim and had to put the donut spare until I have my new rim delivered and he didnt say that its not gonna pass the inspection, after more tham an hour he came back to me saying it didnt pass because of the donut tire and still had to pay full fee, well I was speechless and surprised about what kinda business theyre running, they shouldve warned me before I spent the money. The mechanics at pep boys are rude and miss important inspections on your car. Had to get the mechanic to put my car back on the lift to explain to him and show him that the suspension was messed up. He then realized I was right. I would never trust them with my car, they are over priced, and take too long. Mechanic was sexist and didn’t think I knew anything about cars. Smh
I had my daughter take my 2015 Chrysler 200S to this location for an oil change and to have the tires rotated prior to going on a road trip. I made the appointment for 4pm and the job wasnt completed until after 6pm. To top things off, my daughter was told the tires were rotated and they were not. I noticed because the sensor in the rear passenger tire was damaged prior to taking it there. That tire did not register the tire pressure and when I checked the car, it was still in the same location. Had they been rotated, it would have been on a different tire. I gave them 1 star because I had no other option.
I made an appointment for change my cabin filter for next day, because they are busy. I gave them exactly model and year of my car. I come on time on the next day. After 20 minutes of waiting, when they were looking up my car, they told me that they cant change it and I should go to the dealer. I loosed a lot of time in this place and I was almost late in my work.
What’s with the negative reviews? Had the nicest Pep Boys experience here. Maybe it is recently added, they have a nice small customer lounge with work bench and chairs that have 2 USB charging ports & an AC outlet for up to 4 customers. Also fully functional working free WiFi! I brought my laptop computer with charger, charged my phone and kept working so I barely felt the time pass! They also have a nice Keurig machine with tea & coffee K Cups. Nice wall mounted TV with comfy chairs as well. Great place to get work done or relax while waiting for service and they are open till 9PM! Even the restroom was clean.
Stoped by to get inspection done. Told me my rear pads are low and engine oil is dirty. Pads have about half of life left and oil has 2k miles on it and does not need to changed. A bit pushy in service department. Place is ok when you have to pickup some tools or accessories.
Rip off after purchasing the Summer Prep Package. As a rewards member the prep package is advertised for 19.99. However, I was charged 26.99 which was the regular price 29.99 minus $3 discount for the tire rotation. When I questioned why, I was given three dumb reasons for the price difference by two guys working at the service desk. They refused to credit me the difference. On top of that I was never told about what was found during the check on my car. I actually do not believe they did the checks. Beware of this place shady dealing......
Very unorganized. Paid for service and they didnt get it done. Had to wait twice as long bc technician was incompetent. A few customers were complaining the tires were installed incorrectly and I thought to my self, the customer must be having a bad day. Sure enough, the people at Pep Boys at this location again didnt do things right and are a mess. Never returning to another Pep Boys again. I dont understand how anyone at corporate hasnt popped up and freak out.Check your car before leaving.
Excellent store and great service. B the staff was extremely helpful in locating what I needed. Make sure you use the buy online and pay in store option. You will save money. Prices are competitive. The parts I bought fit exactly and work, so thats a plus. I will be going back.
I have had the best experince at this Pep boys location!! Emil & Sean are the supervisors here & went above and beyond their job to get my car up and running again. Out of all Pepboys this store is definitely my favorite. Professional staff, quick assessment request; it usually takes about 45 to 50 min on a Sunday morning to have my car checked. Avoid to come to the store for service after 5PM weekday because it is usually crowded. Thats how I learned to come in early on a Sunday :) Pepboys staff are attentive and less tired on mornings then at the end of the day. I also like that the prices are fixed (labor and parts are itemized) ; something that is hard to get from other shop places. I personally use Philmour (mechanic), the most knowledgeable and experienced in this store. Theres another guy for car Inspection but to take care of my babys issues I usually go to one person only. I agree we pay a bit more in a store like Pepboys than buying parts online or going to an unknown shop; the advantage, however, its that is all in one place, your car history, the people you know, the many options and someone you trust to explain whats going on. I also like the waiting area, TV, free WiFi, snacks (not free of course!) but hey! thats all small convenience that pays for a big store like that. I also signed up for Rewards and I always come here with my coupons (usually from 10 to 25% discount on a variety of services). Not much but like I said everything adds up. I personally like this store and keep coming back year after year. Im a customer of this store at Metropolitan Ave Queens NY since Ive got my first car in 2001.

2022-05-06OMG!!! First of all...google me for legitimacy, please. I am simply disgusted with the service there. I understand that they are trying to make money... But what I was quoted for simple adjustment of the tie rod on my 2008 JAGUAR XJR to get my steering wheel straight (wheel alignment...it is called) was a spit in my face... (I replaced the the tie rods myself)I was told that all 4 of my 3 years old Michelin Pilot MXM4 tires with about 5000 miles on them are dry rotted and doing alignment is not possible. I started laughing. (Just a month ago I had my oil changed there and I was told that my headlight was out...that was all. LOL)... And now, almost brand new, top of the line tires needed to be replaced. WHAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING SIMPLE ALIGNMENT DONE WITH PEP BOYS for $99 IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD? Even Jaguar service advisor wouldnt insult me like that. Btw, my car has only 87000 miles. Please, just have your oil changed there done for $87 and buy some light bulbs or windshield wipers. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING YOUR CAR SERVICED THERE.

2022-02-26*UPDATE - A BUNCH OF LIARS !!!I CAME HERE AGAIN TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED.Dropped it off early in the morning. Called an hour after they said they’re working on it. okay fine. I came back almost 2 o clock and the car was NOT EVEN TOUCHED YET. I asked why, they just said im NEXT. DROPPED OFF THE CAR 8am and then car was not even touched when I arrived ??? WHAT KIND OF BS IS THAT?!!!!! Will never give you ANOTHER CHANCE. YA’ll should quit your jobs!! USELESS Management ,useless workers. a bunch of has-beens. NEVER, EVER, GO HERECame here early to have my tires installed and some alignment. guy said 1- 1/2 hour to do it. sure whatever. this picture was taken at 2:50PM. and tires were not even mounted yet. the last time i was here it took them 2 hours to do an oil change. gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back. this place is OFFICIALLY poor when it comes to service. they have mechanics running around and not even doing anything.

2022-06-01It’s very professional service place, I really like this place. I went there with my Tesla they charge only $10. It’s really awesome spent like 30 minutes with my car inspection. Also nice place to seat there with kids.I really recommend this place for any kind of automobile work.Customer service is very friendly.

2022-06-21Id give 0 stars if possible. BIGGEST LEGAL SCAM AND CON ARTISTS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I went in to have my battery checked but my battery was not checked it was JUST replaced. A perfectly good battery with good health replaced with another perfectly good battery because the original was never checked! 200 dollars down the drain and I still need a starter. Come on guys! Do better! These guys are super lazy and do not care about customers especially during these times they could care less about you wasting your money or time. Extremely unacceptable also what I witnessed while I was there is atrocious. One guy came to get inspection and was told to drive 50ilrs to clear a light. Driving 50 miles in the city is insane and for pep boys ask u to do that is just wrong, unprofessional and unethical

2022-05-03I came here for a leaking tire. They told me there was no issue with my tire and that the tire was dunked and inspected. I spent 10 minutes on the phone with the lady who picked up the phone. She was extremely rude to me and said there was no issues with my tire. For 2 weeks I monitored my tires air pressure, there was a consistent drop of 2PSI per day.Fast forward to last week, I finally had time to bring it into to get my car inspected at another mechanic shop. They took my tire off, dunked it and found the leak immediately. Turns out one of the old plugs went bad. Pep Boys can not be trusted here and I will never be returning again.

2022-02-274 hours for an oil change? I had an 11 am appointment and left the store around 3:10 pm. What is the point of getting an appointment? I had a coupon of $29.99 for oil change which was not honored because there was something wrong with the system. Once I got home I realized that they rotated the tires. I NEVER requested for the tires to be rotated. I already had that done the day before somewhere else. Ive been a customer for almost 20 years and Ive had a couple of bad experiences lately and after reading some of the reviews here I can see I am not the only one. Will NOT be coming back here ever and will tell everyone I know to do the same. I rather go to the dealership and pay more than to waste 4 hours of my time for an oil change. I can do an oil change myself in 40 minutos.

2022-03-17Really friendly and professional staff. Clean and organized space. I always expect to pay more than I actually do, which is great! They even throw in complimentary repairs from time to time. Service does take a while (hence 4 stars), so I wouldnt recommend waiting at the location. Just drop it off or leave any expectation of an accurate timeframe while you wait. Its a car shop, you should know that by now.I think some of these reviewers forget that these guys see scores of people every day and half of these customers are either yelling at them about something or another or asking for a discount. Its ok to negotiate on price, but dont dump your anxiety on people who are just doing their jobs.

2022-05-24I went for an oil change, belt replacement, and tire fix.Car mechanic did a poor job with belt replacement and I had to go back days later to have it re-done. They charged $20 just to look at the belt. They checked my cabin air filter and now part of the filter housing is magically missing.There was a nail in my tire and they tried to get me to buy a new tire - so I took it some place else to have it patched up for $20.
